Dear sfhillary,

Obama will lose in '08. The electoral polls to which you refer have Obama marginally "up" over McCain, unless of course, you award him the "leaning votes" and
"toss up States", as you obviously have. Regarding the National Polling, at best, he's keeping his head above water, without the major growth you would expect based on his national media coverage which has been universally positive

Finally, you go at lengths to congratulate his "run to the middle" as his recognition of political necessity, instead of intellectual honesty.

So, several questions: a. his entire primary campaign was focused on the fact that he was a "different kind of politician", so was he lying to Democrats then, or is he lying to them now? b. If he's a true Progressive, why is he running away from true progressive ideology? c. based on the empirical evidence of his voting record and bill sponsorship in the Chicago House, and in the US Senate, please tell me why you consider him a Progressive. d. why are the core constituency demographics you cited so narrowly focused, and exclude the vast majority of voters not representative of the demos you cited?

Obama hasn't cracked the 50% mark in any national polling at any time during his candidacy, a key mark which would truly reflect the widespread support you suggest. Additionally, he is leading McCain by roughly the same margins that Kerry led Bush, and Gore led Bush at this point in their campaigns. You may remember that both of them lost.

Finally, The Minions of Rove haven't even begun to do what they do best: destroy opposing candidates. The 2008 election will put Dems significantly in control of both Houses of Congress. That's the best you can hope for, but if 'past is prologue', the "blue dog Democrats", entrenched Democratic Senators, and the leadership of people like Pelosi and Reid does not bode well for Progressive causes.

The Democratic Party is basically the Republican Party Lite - having long-since forgotten their core constituency, and practice governance by exchanging whining and capitulation, for leadership and fecklessness. Oh, and the swipe you took at Bill Clinton's Presidency - he inherited a massive economic meltdown, and beginning with the Gingrich Revolution, faced a toxic Congress. You blithely dismiss not only the great financial turn around he accomplished, but the social programs he presented which led to higher literacy, fewer people on welfare, a vast increase in the number of police on the streets, a consistent reduction of crime on the streets, and of course, the miracle of job creation and economic well-being for everyone. I disagreed with many of his compromises, but at the end-of-the-day, Obama doesn't come close to his erudition, accomplishment, and success in BEATING REPUBLICANS.

It’s not only stalled in my opinion that happended back in Feb but polls also see CBS overtly biased but Obama support is softer than McCain’s by about 30 percent of those that say they will vote for him, and he is doing poorly with Independents so that too doesn’t fit the media message.

My Prediction unless pollsters assist and I don’t think media can help him anymore they are not trusted on anything Obama or on Clinton as their favorite Btch to punch as the oppressor of the One’s difference, Chuck Todd yesterday is a good example, Cafferty needs a diversity class CNN surely you risk much, Brown at CNN wow they hate either strong women or Hillary I don’t miss any of those rancid shows and it’s hard to believe I ever watched. Anyway back to my prediction and by the way I am not for this outcome, if Obama dose not pick Hillary, Obama will not only not bump but sink like a rock. From what I am hearing many about 40 percent believe Hillary is still the better candidate but as loyal Dems support Obama even now, and the really raw feeling about the Clyburn swift boating of Bill Clinton as racist of the year and the belief by some silly Dems that the RBC will be overruled and the Delegates counted as they should be making Hillary rightly the nominee based on the will of the Base. Add the problems; Obama's rookie status he is flaming when he is not on the teleprompter and while McCain’s out meeting relating with real people in small groups on issues and pounding Bush, the tone deaf Obama, who is going to accept in a football stadium a self congratulation of himself modesty Dems is truly a virtue even in the non celebrity culture; and while having Bill speak was to me not an option, it will not heal the Base loss from the Clyburn Swift Boating of this beloved successful Dem while fellows stayed quite and allowed Obama surrogates to pile and the mistrust now from this vile stunt has come home to roost. It is true that Hillary like Kerry blew it by not acting forcefully enough cowered by intimidation but in any event the corresponding result now is mis trust of the Democratic agenda, as there should be,sad of course but better than had it been successful and Democrats to have become what they hated.

excellent choice. The Manchurian Candidate might end up being a biography instead of a fictional movie.
Just look how "wag the dog" laid out bush's plan for everyone to see.

ok, so they think they can pull disenfranchised democrats "back into the fold" by insulting and criticizing them? That's interesting.
All it does for me is turn me off more and more from their arrogant movement and make me more steadfast in my decision to break from the party line for the first time in my voting life.
I don't think you have the best plan there sf, but hey, that's just an opinion from one of the "trivial" 8 million voters (the plurality) that voted for Hillary. (I know, plurality is a big word for you, use dictionary.com to look it up if you need to)

Give me a break, Debbie. I live in Oregon. It is not a conservative state. We have pockets of conservative people like we have pockets of progressive people. I actually live in an area that voted your candidate with the largest margin and each time I think of that I am sick. I'm out there every day casting doubts with his supporters. I loved walking in to Border's Books yesterday and seeing The Case Against Obama front and center - first thing you see when you walk into the store. And college students persuing the book. For the first time in my life I'm rooting for the conservatives to win this state. I'm going to help them any way I can.

May I suggest any M. Night Shyamalan flick, with its imminent shocking ending, one that turns your world upside down and inside out? B'coz that's what were all in right now.

Every fiber of my being tells me something along the lines of the Michelle "whitey" tape will surface soon.

That mindless obamaton Keith "I hate myself for being white" Olbermann actually, but skeptically, reported the LA Times was sitting on some explosive scandal about an affair concerning one of the key Democratic candidates. Although it now looks like it might be John Edwards, Olbermann thought it was about Obama. (Olbermann said people he knew and trusted kept insisting it was true.)

I suspect the corporate media has a mountain of dirt on Obama, as well as McCain, but they will expose only Obama, now that they've gotten Hillary and Bill out of the picture. Hillary would have been unbeatable in the general election. She also would have won if the corporate media & the GOP didn't join in and support Obama's incessant and scurrilous race-baiting, gender-baiting, and character assassinations of both Clintons.

Obama's numbers are actually must worse for HUGE two reasons:

1. The mean season (swiftboating) has yet to begin.

2. This is such a horrible year for Republicans, for white males, for status quo. Someone preaching and promising "change" should be 20 points ahead.

Guess is must be the typical white person is racist and he or she "clings to... antipathy towards those that aren't like them... antipathy towards immigrants."

Or it could be that they're not buying into Barack O'Bullshit's condescending garbage, his incessant flip-flopping and lying about not flip-flopping.

1. Defend Wright one day, attack him weeks later.
2. Defend Trinity Church one day, leave 2 months later.
3. Be for single payer health (universal) care one year, then attack Hillary's universal plan.
4. Vote for gas tax holiday one year, then condemn it in 2008 (to change the subject from Wright to substantive issues.)
5. Condemn the impending war with Iraq in 2003, then say he didn't know how he'd vote in 2004 in defending Kerry's flip-flop.
6. Against the surge in Iraq, then for the surge.
7. Pro-Palestine to Pro-Israel.
8. Iran is not a threat, to Iran is an imminent threat.
9. Anti-FISA to Pro-FISA.
10. Not counting Florida & Michigan to half-counting to full counting.
11. Against offshore drilling to pro offshore drilling.
12. Against the old politics, but incessantly uses it, i.e. race-baiting, character assassination, gender baiting.
13. For public Financing in 2007, then against it in 2008.
14. Anti-free trade to pro-free trade.
15. Against running for President as inexperienced freshman Senator to running for President as a vastly underqualified vaccuous race-baiting idiot.
16. etc. Etc. ETC.

Next to Clinton, BOBO would be lucky if he could claw his way up to the level of turd status.

Clinton Fan, I like your vim and vigor in regard to the BO fan you are lecturing. But, I must tell you, BO did not have to convince the Dem Party of anything.

With the successful arm twisting of SC Rep. Clyburn to change the SC primary to give AA's an early voice in choosing the eventual nominee, the DNC it seems took BO under their wing from the beginning thinking he was their ticket to victory.

They tailor-made the primary schedule for O, frontloading the primary contests with not only SC but all the other states with high AA registrations as well. In addition to these sure victories, the grand scheme included focusing on winning the caucus states (mostly repub) and let Move-On.Org organize them ON-Line in addition to the millions of $ they would raise for him as they had done for Dean in 2004.

The 50-State strategy in its embryonic state was Howard Dean's 2004 strategy that he didn't get to use after his gleeful fit he staged following losing the very first contest, that I think he hoped would confuse people into thinking he actually won.

Later Dean would lobby hard for Chair of the DNC, convinced his strategy of winning all the caucuses to run the delegate count up was a winner and he would call it the "50-State Strategy". He just needed a pliable candidate. Obviously that wasn't Hillary who was running her own campaign.

While O is definitely an ego-maniac, he was and is clueless about how he has gotten to this point. It has been laid out for him. These were NOT his ideas. He didn't have any serious opposition in any of the other campaigns in which he participated - how could he just innately know this stuff regardless of Harvard? He is way in over his head, and I think he is realizing that.

It is bound to be humiliating to go from last week being able to act like he was already the president to this week being knocked around like a yo yo.

Clinton Fan, I like your vim and vigor in regard to the BO fan you are lecturing. But, I must tell you, BO did not have to convince the Dem Party of anything.

With the successful arm twisting of SC Rep. Clyburn to change the SC primary to give AA’s an early voice in choosing the eventual nominee, the DNC it seems took BO under their wing from the beginning thinking he was their ticket to victory.

SFhillary & debbie -you cannot say what will happen as in the case of Democrats voting /not voting for Obama . You do not own the future.

As I can see ,everybody on NQ is speaking or themselves. How many are like them you dont know.

You seem to think you own anyone who is a former /disillusioned democrat.

In the past they have given the Dem party their vote & efforts -they have not given them their lives.

Oh Debbie - I see you agree that it will take CLINTONS to give him the bounce that Obama has been totally unable to garner for himself in well over 2 months...even with his Obamaia World Tour. So, in the end, if it's going to take a Clinton to get the job done, why don't we just ELECT a CLINTON TO GET THE JOB DONE!!!!
