Missing The Point Of “Game Change”

I first became aware of the book that is making waves, Game Change, when a part of it appearing in NY Magazine was referenced by faithful No Quarter reader, Mountainaires, in terms of Elizabeth Edwards. Basically, the authors, Heilemann and Halperin, dispel the myth of “St. Elizabeth.” What an eye-opener this excerpt was, especially for those of us, like me, who only liked John because of Elizabeth. Assuming half of it is right, it is pretty bad.

But what is not being focused on in this book, at least so far, is how clearly it asserts the fix was in AGAINST Hillary Clinton. In each piece thus far, there has been something about the DNC not wanting Hillary Clinton to be the nominee, or the senators with clout secretly backing Obama. In the NY Magazine article, “Saint Elizabeth and the Ego Monster,” there are passages like this:

Edwards never expected to be the third wheel in 2008. The race was going to be Hillary versus him. That was how he saw it from the start. She would be the front-runner, of course. But as sure as night follows day, there would be an alternative, an anti-Hillary, and he would be it.

The Democratic Establishment agreed that there would be—and certainly should be—a viable challenger to Clinton. The party’s pooh-bahs on Capitol Hill were privately terrified about the prospect of Hillary rolling to the nomination. They feared that she was too polarizing to win, that she would drag down House and Senate candidates in red and purple states; and they worried, too, about Bill’s putative affairs (emphasis mine). But while the Clintons themselves regarded Edwards as Hillary’s most formidable rival, there existed a deep wariness about the North Carolinian among his fellow Democrats. In the Senate, in particular, Edwards was regarded almost universally by his former colleagues as a callow, shallow phony. Quietly, the Establishment began a quest to find a different alternative, eventually settling on the unlikely horse that was Obama—with Harry Reid personally, and secretly, urging the Illinois senator to run against Clinton.

So much for the people choosing our nominee, right? I just love that the “pooh-bahs” decided that Hilary was too polarizing. THEY created this hype, along with the Republicans during Bill’s tenure, and with the MSM. But the people who listened to her, who read her policies, who saw how she worked, knew she was exactly who we wanted to run for president

This isn’t the only example out of this book. There is also the claim by the book’s authors that Chuck Schumer secretly supported Obama, though he publicly claimed to support Hillary Clinton. Needless to say, Schumer’s people claim this isn’t true, but again, even taking what the authors wrote with a grain of sand, this doesn’t sound good. The book goes on to claim Schumer encouraged a “get tough” policy against Clinton, and enlisted another senator to support Obama, presumably in his stead:

The book reports that in the summer of 2007, Schumer and others wanted Team Obama to get tougher on Clinton.

At one point, the authors contend, Schumer felt “Obama needed to take a two-by-four to Hillary,” the book says.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill was tapped as the messenger from the worried senators to the Obama campaign.

She denies feeling any such pressure.

“It wasn’t like he [Schumer] came to me and said, ‘Be for Barack Obama – I gotta be for Hillary,’” McCaskill told the Daily News Saturday. “He never, ever said a word to me that would give the kind of impression [this book seems] to be giving. He was never giving advice to the campaign on how to undermine her.”

What a bunch of back-stabbing conniving Brutus’ these senators are. And the DNC, too, if you ask me.

The glaring fallacy with the logic of the DNC and its minions are the number are Republicans who crossed over for Hillary Clinton. Former dyed-in-the-wool Republicans becoming caucus captains for Hillary in Texas, for example (an example relayed to me by the person who crossed over). All of the post voting showed Hillary Clinton got the majority of Democratic votes AND a large number of Republican votes. Yet the DNC in its infinite “wisdom” decided Hillary Clinton could NOT be the nominee, and worked their asses off to break every rule necessary to make that so.

No doubt, there will be more to this book after it is released this week, but there are some glaring omissions mentioned thus far. Ben Smith noted that Obama was pretty much the same throughout the campaign, thus most of these revelations are about the Clintons, the Edwards, et al. But as one commenter noted:

Where are the stories of how the campaign handled Jerimah (sic) Wright?

Where are the stories about how they had to put a muzzle on Michelle Obama?

Where are the stories about ‘sweetie’ and calling his grandmother a ‘typical white person’?

And who did Obama think he picked when he picked Joe Biden? He must be stupid if he is surprised by how he has acted!

The secret to Obama winning was the media and frankly Mark Halprin doesn’t want to blow that gig.

No kidding. Don’t forget the “Obama and Biden Can’t Stand Each Other” part of this book referenced above, which is sure not getting much play by the MSM:

The relationship between Barack Obama and Joe Biden grew so strained during the 2008 campaign, according to a new book, that the two rarely spoke and aides not only kept Biden off internal conference calls but refused to even tell him they existed.

Instead, a separate campaign call was regularly scheduled between the then-Delaware senator and two of Obama’s top campaign aides – “so that they could keep a tight rein on him,” write journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann in “Game Change,” a long-awaited account of the 2008 campaign.

Uh, yeah. So, the bottom line as far as I can tell from this book so far is this: the Democratic Party committed massive fraud in 2008, costing voters millions of dollars in campaign donations to candidates they had already determined were not going to get the nomination. That is fraud, pure and simple. Not only did I give donations (in the beginning to John Edwards), but I gave a LOT to Hillary Clinton.

If the DNC knew they were never going to let her get the nomination no matter how she performed, no matter how many people voted for her, no matter WHAT, that, to me, is fraud. And they damn well better be held accountable for that, don’t you think?

Right, Amy.  It wasn’t Barack Obama’s original opposition to the Iraq War, or his legendary 2004 Dem Convention keynote speech, or his Jefferson-Jackson performance in late 2007, or his surprise clenching of the Iowa caucuses over the Clinton juggernaut that inspired his supporters.  It was party “poo-bahs” that brainwashed us all into voting for Barack Hussein Obama.  All we needed was Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer secretly supporting him, and we got the vibe.  Got it.

Something smelly about this book… wonder who “authorized” it? Everyone looks bad except The Won. Yes, it’s funny there were no flies on the wall when BO’s thoughts and comments could have been indexed for later use. How come the authors only had access to everyone else’s spies?

  • ryan

Jackie, it was obvious to many that the DNC was working against Hillary.  I’m still ticked off on how the Michigan/Florida thing went down, and lets not forget the calls for her to drop out despite her right to push on, or the pressure for her not to call a vote despite how close the delegates were and that in the end she was the stronger candidate.

On a side note, all of those “3am” “Ready on day one” and “No on the job training” talking points sure do seem to be hitting  home.

  • Clara

Sowsear, I’m wondering that myself.  The explanation given on one of the Morning Shows is that a winning team isn’t inclined to rat out anyone.  There isn’t any discord or scores to settle, so only the losers begin publicly back-biting.  For gossip this big, they should have to name sources.  Otherwise, it’s their biased word against another.

  • Jackie

Dude, the DNC was working against WHOMEVER THE LOSER WAS GOING TO BE.  They wanted to WRAP IT UP.  They knew the only way the Republicans could possibly eke out a victory in 2008 was if the Democrats descended into an unholy civil war that buried their chances of victory.  Which they practically did. Hence, the eventual (and boy was it eventual) calls for Hillary to drop out.  Long after it had become mathematically impossible for her to win, anyway.  And the thing about her being the “stronger candidate”?  Irrelevant and subjective, because Barack Obama won the general election in a near-landslide, anyway.

As to Michigan/Florida, are you forgetting that Hillary wrote a letter supporting the move to strip Florida of its delegates (before she won Florida, that is)?  Forgetting that ALL the candidates agreed to the DNC’s rules at the beginning of the campaign?

“On a side note, all of those “3am” “Ready on day one” and “No on the job training” talking points sure do seem to be hitting  home.”

The American people beg to differ:

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/01/11/cnn-poll-americans-confident-obama-can-handle-terrorism/

Nearly two-thirds of people questioned in the poll say they have a moderate or great deal of confidence in the administration to protect the public from future terrorist attacks, up 2 points from August. Thirty-five percent say they have not much or no confidence at all, down 1 point from August.

A number of Republicans have criticized the president over his handling of the attempted bombing of Northwest flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit. But according to the survey, 57 percent approve of the way President Barack Obama’s responded, with 39 percent disapproving of how he handled the situation.

“Only a third of Republicans have a positive view of Obama on this matter, but the key for the administration is the 55 percent of independents who approve of how the president responded to the incident on Christmas Day,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

  • Beachnan

Amy-I did hear that from the 60 Minutes interview, that the uppity -ups in the Dem Party didn’t want her.  This is only scratching the surface.  There has to be more to it, than they thought she was polarizing-a meme they definitely pushed.  Couldn’t they see that Obama was an idiot?  Did they ever think ahead, that his inexperience was going to lead many away from the party if he didn’t do a good job?   Did they ever think that  the blatant shenanigans the DNC pulled in making him the nominee was going to turn off a number of their members forever?   Did they ever stop and think how Bill Clinton’s poll numbers when he left office were still very high, and he is still highly thought of by many of us?  These ding-dongs have ruined my party and I am pissed.  The DNC is getting what they deserve.  Their party is disintegrating before their eyes.  How can anyone trust a party that pushes a no-nothing for President of United States, because he is the right color?

  • Diana L. C.

I heard that “too polarizing” argument all throughout the primary from the Obots.  It became obvious that the fix was in.  You’d have to be an idiot who didn’t really follow the campaign at all not to see it.

But, the thing that always annoyed me the most was this:  Hillary was always dealing with Bill as a sort of albatross around her neck.  Don’t get me wrong; I genuinely liked Bill, though I was upset that he would be so stupid about the Lewinsky affair.  (Are there no grown up men anymore?)  I just felt that if Hillary could stick with him, then that was her call.  She did not have to be judged as just an extension of Bill.

Why are women always judged as the same thing as their husbands.  It was pretty well known that Hillary had a mind of her own and didn’t always take the same stance as Bill did (NAFTA comes to my mind).  Why couldn’t we concentrate on HIllary and forget about Bill.

That was the thing I hated most.  Again, as a woman she couldn’t be judged based solely on herself: he intelligence, experience, ideas, and ability to connect with people.

  • meileen

that was for jackie, not ryan.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Ryan, me, too.  I still cannot believe that the DNC, the “one person, one vote” party, took lawfully cast, state certified votes, and GAVE them to someone else.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg. The caucuse fraud, the voter registration fraud, the threats to certain congresspeople to toe the line, or lose any support for their next election campaign, and on it went.  Stagering…

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

YES, Sowsear – mighty telling that OBAMA, the people surrounding him, his lack of a paper trail or record, etc. – where is that in this book??

  • Jackie

gee, use prescribed talking points much? this is not the transparency some folks were ‘hoping’ for.

    What are you referring to?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Yes, they do deserve everything they get.  Their comeuppance cannot come soon enough for me.

What does it say abt the DNC, beyond all of the fraud they committed, that they did NOT want the most qualified person in the entire poll of possible nominees?  What does it say that they were willing to engage in such misogynistic behavior to push her out, thus showing how they really feel abt women?

I just cannot believe, canNOT believe, I used to have such faith in this party.

  • meileen

amy, check out politico’s take on the book. smith thinks this spells the endgame for the clintons. yet again, the spin machine in action. some folks really should look inside themselves – what is this hatred for the clintons?! it says more about the author than the subject.

this book sends another message entirely. trashing elizabeth more than john, trashing sarah more than mccain, trashing hillary but not a bad word about obama, well heck, there’s a word for that – MISOGYNY.

  • Monica

If Hillary had been on the ticket…

my book would have come out sooner.

    :-P

  • sowsear

CBS, I’m told, didn’t touch the Reid part of the book when they interviewed the authors. Everyone else was “fair game” (fair?)(game?)

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Hey, Diana, of course many of us knew there were all kinds of shenanigans going on with the DNC, but this blatant disregard for the will of the people, and as I said, downright FRAUD, is beyond the pale.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

That’s what I understand, too, sowsear.  Dontcha just love “journalism” these days?

Hey, meileen – I saw that post.  I don’t get it, either.  Why they (DNC) want to eradicate the Clintons is beyond me.  Do they really think we will just forget they existed?  The only two term Dem president in ages?  WHo actually got us a surplus instead of a deficit?

With a wife who is a star in her own right, a two term senator, who had the support of not only Dems, but a bunch of Reps. too, having worked on behalf of women and children her entire adult life, not to mention our military?  Really??

You nailed it, meileen – it is misogyny plain and simple.

Yes, R3A.  And where is the discussion about who conceived and launched the whole spectacle of the FTS web site debut of that COLB indicating BO was born in HI, and the accompanying link to the 14th Amendment to falsely equate being a citizen with the Constitutional requirement of being Natural Born?  This proved to be a touch of Machiavellian brilliance.  (Of course, we now have ample confirmation this computer screen image was the fake many of us always said it was, in the form of Bob Bauer’s infamous footnote in pleadings submitted to the federal court in the Hollister case.)  See, for example,

Jackie, The statistics/polls, etc that you quote don’t seem to jive with what we are hearing every day.  You speak of the dems only ‘eventually’ calling for Hillary to get out of the race and, I assume, just ‘give’ it to 0zero.  That must have been before you got involved.  That moron, Jonathan Alter of Newsweek/0bama Rag had huge headlines in the March 2008 issue just *before* the Texas and Ohio Primaries urging Hillary to get out of the race.  She won BOTH primaries except for the caucus part of the Texas “Two-Step” which was as fraudulent as a bank robbery.  0zero lost the Texas Primary by 4 or 5 percentage points, but the thief and company **won** the Texas Caucuses by at least **12 Points**.   Dr. Lynette Long says that is a mathmatical impossibility.

Why do we make fun of ”so-called birthers”?  “Birthers” is an Alinskism. Make fun when someone gets too close to the truth. There is no good reason to hide something that isn’t damaging, and hide it he has. Considering what has already come out about him that should have been damaging, this must be a doozie.

  • FranSC

It’s my understanding that they trashed Hillary and Bill as well as Palin – spending most of their 60 Minutes interview on Hillary and Sarah.  They also quote Bill Clinton as saying after the Iowa Caucuses that Bill said he thought they had bussed in people who were not Iowans.  When I heard all this on FoxNews this morning, the guest said Clinton comes off looking very bad, like someone you don’t want at the party.  I was outraged at that, but I sure hope they don’t make Bill out as lying about the bussed in people.  It will be interesting to see how he and Hillary handle all of this.  The Clintons are savvy enough to explain it in an acceptable manner, but I will be horrified if they act like the caucus fraud didn’t happen or if they apologize for anything.

  • Ani

Thanks for the great coverage of this despicable story.  As you pointed out, it is clear the fix was in from the beginning, even if this is only half true.  Hell, if what these bobs wrote in only 25% true, what these backstabbers in the Senate did is still grotesque.

I think their needs to be a class action suit.  They defrauded the American people of hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions.  think about this — if they fix MI and FL by striiping all their delegates at the beginning when legally they could only take half, if they were playing tag team wrestling, having several candidates gang up on Hill.  If the game was “anyone but Hillary” and they were plotting behind her back while smiling in her face — she should have been given the memo up front — and so should we.  THIS WAS ALL A FARCE.  If Pelosi, Reid, Dean, Schumer, Kennedy, Kerry, Richardson, Edwards, Dodd, Leahy, McCaskill, Daschle et al knew there was no way they would let her earn the nomination, yet they let this all play out through June 3rd  — with all of us donating hard earned cash and thousands of man hours to the effort — that is fraud.  They knew the outcome from the beginning.

Sue them all then throw them in the hoosgow.

What has happened to the “We will not be silenced” video?  Is there any way we can get it out there.  Since, the authors brought the subject up, now would be a perfect time to show the world the truth.  Of course Obama bussed in people to Iowa, and every other caucus state, because he had a more difficult time in the states with primaries.  Wouldn’t it be fabulous, if this book backfired on the authors and the DNC and the truth was finally exposed?

This book stinks so much it’s becoming funny. Three separate parts depict Obama as a saint – isn’t that interesting.

In Politico’s latest story “The Clintons Stand Alone” they say all the book’s unfavorable Clinton comments are from anonymous sources. Then Politico says none of the Clinton allies have any comment, most say they haven’t read the book. But Politico quotes James Carville guessing that 80% of the bad Clinton comments are from Patti Solis Doyle (Hillary’s fired campaign manager who blew the Iowa caucuses.)

Oh but get this – twice in Politico article they say Obama is a saint. Politico says the only one in the book with a favorable comment about Hillary is Obama. The book’s theme is all the candidates were brought down by their own character flaws – and the authors’ theme is the candidates “probably deserved it” Politico says. But Obama, Politico says, looks in the book how he looks in the press. HA!

Then the NYT says the book shines ugly lights on the marriages of the McCains, the Edwardses, and the Clintons. But the Obama marriage, the book depicts as “a model one” the NYT reviewer says.

You and me both, Amy, which is why so many of us become incensed when the apologists and revisionists come by in their troll like regularity to convince us what we saw and heard was a figment of our imagination or a product of our latent racism or our poor loser syndrome.

Look at the state of the country. Look at the economy. Look at the Democratic Party in the aftermath.  Inspect the rubble.

Both parties are now a disaster.  There is no refuge in the partisan bickering, the fingerpointing or the blatant lies.  The DNC killed the Democratic Party when it decided to sell its soul, and then pretended and still pretends it didn’t.

That’s what happened to our late, great Party.  Well, they broke it.  They own it now.

They didn’t want Hillary because she would have told the wall street cheaters that the jig was up.  Many people got their hands greased on the too  big to fail BS so let’s pour in our  money without consequences to those “wealth creators.”  As far as I am concerned, Hillary would have made a real effort to change things in a measurable way that would have benefitted the country, not just the few.  That is why she was accused of “being polarizing”.  Remember Obama accused Hillary of “being Republican Lite”.  Obama revealed himself in that statement, and that is what we got.

  • Jackarooty

    Hi Amy,
I’ve been reading all of the available excerpts from Game Change.  I figured out that the fix was in about a year ago.  Barry made his deal with the Devil (Ted Kennedy).  Kennedy was going to do whatever it took to get a health care bill passed.  He knew that the Clintons had failed and he wasn’t going to risk a second chance with them.  I believe that Teddy with his power, strong armed his buddies into supporting Barry.  I think it’s fair to consider that Hillary’s gender was a negating factor.  This is why I was so happy that she left the Senate and became SOS.  If she had stayed in the Senate they would have had her doing nothing more than pouring coffee.

  • Jackie

Yeah, it really is unfair to paint all the birther idiots with that long-since shunned slur, “birther”.  Didn’t MLK make a speech condemning the use of the term “birther” in the early 60′s?

The authors of this book are weasels.  They didn’t even mention the biggest story in the campaign, namely Larry Sinclair’s allegations of gay sex and drug use with Obama, and the subsequent horrendous treatment of Sinclair by Obama and his thugs, which still continues to this day.  Where is the real investigative journalism from these two?  What about the abuse of office by AG Beau Biden in Delaware, who had Sinclair arrested in DC after his press conference at the National Press Club during the summer of 2008?  Of course the charges were bogus, because after they held Sinclair in jail and bled him of over $10,000 in legal fees, they dropped all charges.  And no coverage of this?  The authors are weasels, plain and simple.  More whitewashing of the most important story.

I know: statistically proven polls are no match for the inane chatter of Hillaryis44 you guys drown in every morning, afternoon, and evening.  I’ll just step away, and leave you to your cocoon.

  • Jackie

What “legendary opposition to the Iraq War?”"

I wrote “original” opposition.  Please don’t misquote me like that.

  • trixta

    Yawn!

  • TorchWood

    Two snaps for that one

  • James

What is this B.S. message about a 5K char. limit? Fix this shit!

  • trixta

This is also a hit job on Pres Clinton by insinuating again that he’s a racist.  Isn’t it curious that  “Bill the racist” didn’t reveal himself as such to the country until 2008 (Snark!)?  Give me a break!

  • TeakWoodKite

Rev. Amy, from the weather reports I am reading the reason that they are going after Bill Clinton is his $ roledex and contacts. SOS Clinton is STILL a force in ways that are frustrating BO Industries’s plans to replace the guts of the Demacrtic party and with it the “old guard”, which in real terms will cement certian events in two years time. This a pelican brief regarding the future of who controls the Democratic Party.

    Just my take on it.

  • Bronwyn

Spotted this on my Facebook page, posted by a friend:

Christopher Hayes of The Nation tweets: “Just when you think the news cycle can’t get any stupider, Mark Halperin publishes a book.”

  • Peggy Sue

Well, it’s definitely eclipsing the healthcare debate.  Not a good thing, I’m thinking.

    So well timed, too.

  • buzzlatte

Wow!  I finally got back on!

  • lark

RRR Amy says, …how clearly it asserts the fix was in AGAINST Hillary Clinton.

I am not a fan of Mrs. Clinton but if there was a clear fix against her then….

Why is it that in America people allow those in charge to always drive a ruse over them.

In Iran, even over the fear of being encarcerated for a long time or even sentenced to death, people protest in the street what they consider unfair.

But in the land of the free, not a word. Why? Isn’t it that this is not really the land of the free. I think it is the land of the careful and the worried. Why? Because no one dares complain in public. Or maybe the land of the proxy. Because if you don’t get a proxy in the MSM news channels to speak for 20 seconds flat on the subject, the subject is dead. Right?

Well, then you get the government you deserve. Obama is the head of the government we deserve.

  • buzzlatte

No, we got the government the Democratic party wanted us to have.  Big difference.

  • Bronwyn

There is a 5,000 character limit to prevent long comments.

  • lark

I am 100 percent with you there. Except like Yoda said, “Hmmm, there is still another option…” I learned to trust the unpredictable. Mountainaires showed in her entry in “War? What War? that the States will reserve for itslef the power to straighten out things for its residents. When chaos comes and it will come, sooner rather than later,

the changes BO promised us will come to us in buckets.

  • buzzlatte

Jackie?  pbbbbbttt!  What happened to the smart Obama tools we used to get?   ;)

  • FranSC

Well, Jackie, why do you even bother to come to this site when you know you will be beaten up from head to toe.  We will NOT allow you to trash the best candidate in 2008 BY FAR without a knockdown drag out.

One more thing, if the DNC was going to *work against the loser*???? regardless of who it was, as well as the DNC knew the repubs did not have a chance in hell to win in 2008, why did they work so hard to make sure Hillary was not the nominee??  That does not square with what is being said in the new book how Harry Reid and the Senate  were afraid Hillary would lose because she was *so polarizing* as well as Bill Clinton could not be trusted.  Harry even admitted that Hillary would make a better POTUS, BUT Barack Stupid 0bama wowed him as an orator.  Oh, God, please!

Well, at least what we have known for 18 months is being verified.  We should at least feel good about that.  The only thing is Pelosi and Emanuel had already “selected” 0zero long before Harry Reid called this manchild into his office in 2006 to tell him, “The time is right for you”, paraphrasing Nelson Mandela.  Excuse me while I go throw up!

  • PizzaDriver

let’s see, can i just hang out a shingle and start practicing medicine, and tell the licensing authorities to prove i’m NOT a real doctor??!!  i don’t think so; the burden of proof is on ME to come up with the required evidence.  but you Obots think that the american people have to prove Zero wasn’t born in the US, rather than him having to prove that he was??!!   jeezus christ.  that internet image doesn’t mean jack, even if it’s real.  you don’t even have to be born in HI to get one of those. here’s a clue, Jackie honey, more skepticism about your messiah is better, not less.

  • FranSC

RRRAmy, tip of the iceberg is right!  I’m going to write Halperin and Heillmann and ask why they did not go into the caucus fraud other than to quote Bill Clinton’s statement after Iowa (that he thought the 0bama camp bussed people in that were not Iowans), the fundraising fraud, and most of all ask did they not investigate Pelosi and Emanuel’s decision to get 0zero to run long before Reid called him in.  In additiion, the dead Tim Russert’s fast friendship with 0bama PER 0BAMA during Russert’s funeral weekend in 2008, that began at the 2004 dem convention after “the speech” that bamboozled us as well as Russert into this nightmare.   As for Russert – Karma’s a bitch!

  • PizzaDriver

actually, i hope the MSM makes a big deal about bill’s statement about the bussing; if the BO brownshirts try to deny it i’m sure that eyewitnesses would be happy to set them straight.  i think that a lot of average people still don’t know what happened at the caucusses.

  • TeakWoodKite

    James where are your manners?

  • FranSC

Regardless of the fact the book isn’t trashing the one that should be trashed the most, this does NOT look good for 0bama!  It shows he had  n o t h i n g  to do with his own candidacy or his campaign.  Who in their right mind could possibly think this nitwit could put a **brilliant** campaign together in a year when he had never raised over a $100,000.  It’s what they always do in their recruiting of candidates – ‘if you will run, we will make sure you win’.  Usually they are talking only about money.  That time, they had the money plus his campaign and the strategy well on the way.  He just had to show up.  It further shows the hatred of George Bush/repub victories in 2000 & 2004 were more responsible for this debacle than this neophyte’s qualifications, and lack of know how, etc.

  • FranSC

Diana, Bill Clinton was a tremendous asset to Hillary’s campaign.  He was and remains the most popular democratic speaker, bar none!  B0 does not hold a candle to him except with AAs and the 10-34 year old demographic.  I would guarantee the book took Hillary’s late night “vulnerable” comments out of context about her husband to B0 when discussing the SoS job.  Bill worked very hard for Hillary.  I had no problem with anything he said.  It was the other rogue dems and the repubs that made mountains out of molehills.  These two people don’t make many political mistakes.  They are pros.

  • FranSC

I hate to see Martha lose, but she has gotten herself too tangled up with all these evil people.  She must be sacrificed to send a greater message.  “This isn’t Ted Kennedy’s seat.  This is the people’s seat.”  Brilliant.  Just brilliant.

  • FranSC

It was reported even in the campaign that the 0bama marriage was in huge trouble for a good while when B0 was never home.  That’s why M0 seems to always balance the “model” marriage comments with a dose of reality.  The campaign seemed to help the marriage and now it is being held up as an example for everyone to follow.

  • FranSC

And one of the reasons I think he’s dead – Karma’s a bitch!

  • FranSC

Jackarooty, during Ted Kennedy’s funeral, one of the historians that served as a commentator said the Clintons supported Pres Carter in  1980 when Kennedy challenged the sitting pres.  Apparently, TK never forgot or forgave them regardless of the superficial friendship and invitations to go out on his boat.

  • FranSC

During the campaign, Mark Halperin was sometimes even handed toward Hillary, but John Heillmann infuriated me every time I saw him.  In comparison, tonight on Hannity and then on Anderson Cooper he was much nicer about Hillary than I had ever seen him.  That was not the case for Bill – he trashed Bill!  I kept wondering if he had seen the light.

BTW, there is no way 0bama comes out looking like a saint in this book.  Without saying a negative word about him, he does not come off looking too hot to have been “drafted” by the dem leadership, calling it a conspiracy against Hillary.  If I were B0, I would not be pleased.  It highlights his unpreparedness for this job and how he was “chosen” to keep Hillary from winning.

  • jbjd

    You are very welcome.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    Oops – STAGGERING – I swear, I hit the second g…

FranSC, yes, exactly – where is all of THAT in this book??  Where are all of the sexist comments by Obama, or that he cannot talk without a teleprompter, or ANYTHING along those lines, inclusing the very good points you raise.

What a sham book – just another attempt to take down the Clintons.  These people have no shame.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

jbjd, yes, that’s it.  THey wanted someone to control, and Hillary wasn’t that person.  So now they got their puppet.  How’s that working out for them now?  Obama’s poll numbers continue to sink, the number of people opposed to their healtcare bill continues to rise, unemployment – rise, economy – down, and on it goes.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Very interesting take indeed, Teak.  Wow.  Great point!

  • goldengrahme

Well said, Meileen.  Hate for Bill and Hill does seem unnatural–like a social bacterial infection.  I think we can trace it back to Clinton’s
1992 run when the Repub machine (ie., MSM, et al.) went into full attack mode and continued to pursue them like hounds on a fox hunt.  Foxie Bill and talented Hillary gave them a run for their money, making for excellent quips, blurbs, headlines daily.

And who OWNS the media? Methinks it is the under-the-radar oligarchs/elitists who wanted to put a “black” face on America’s
tanking credibility in world opinion.  They are now eyeing Africa and Asia for exploitation. Voila! Obama is ever so apologetic for our past mistakes.  Seeing his backside as he bows and scrapes across the
    diplomatic spectrum turns my stomach.

The Repubs will surge back to Capitol Hill like gangbusters.  Yes,
Gang Busters, not the gangsters they are and were under the Bushes, Cheney, and the whole list of indicted and unindicted co-conspiritors–aka, GOP yes men.  (Remember Scooter Libby?  How soon we forget.)

What’s that old quote: Those who fail to remember the past are
condemned to repeat it.  Meaning the mistakes.  I, for one, will not
forget Republican excess and corruption.  Dems are bumbling neophytes in comparison.

  • Portia Elizabeth

We need to find Prime Obot. He/she was at least conversational and had a modicum of intelligent debating skill. Calling your opponent an idiot is an automatic concession that you’ve thrown in the towel. *sigh* Where are the Obots who understand that a discussion consists of more than ad hominem attacks?

Sooo… Jackie, cranky because the dog ate your homework?

  • Steve1

They were and still “BIG HOS” for Barry Soetoro, the last laught will be on them and the Dems, Barry Soetoro has become a big Drama Queen, with one crisis after another….What about the story of Larry Sinclair??  Which the NE is still reporting on???  Those two hicks who wrote the book are very BIG HOs for Barry!

  • Portia Elizabeth

And whatever happened to that girlfriend who was shipped off to the Caribbean? Didn’t BO visit her when he flew down by himself during the campaign around Easter of 2008?

  • Steve1

Another two big HOs for Barry Soetoro, with his  popularity dropping like a rock, his lack of abilitiy to inspire or lead…The corporate controlled MSM is at it again..Hillary Clinton more popular than Soetoro, the nation is taking note of the job she is doing, These two clowns come out with a hit piece!  Clinton, 2012!

  • Steve1

You are the BIG FOOL for believing in the myth of a free invesgative press in our country!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Amen, sister!!!  Preach it!!  THey SHOULD be sued, and they SHOULD face charges.  I would love nothing more for these smug, sanctimonious, sexist pigs to get their comeuppance.

RRR Amy says, …how clearly it asserts the fix was in AGAINST Hillary Clinton.

I am not a fan of Mrs. Clinton but if there was a clear fix against her then.
    ________________________________________________

A lot of things contributed to her loss… Lack of neutrality among key Democratic leaders, Media bias, the Caucuses, Out and out fraud, a systemic failure of the democratic system…That being said, Hillary gets some blame for her campaign’s inconsistent message, failure to anticipate many superdelegates were looking for alternatives to her, running out of money for the Feb contests. But really I think the decision to use Penn’s strategy of inevitably was where it all really started. Once longtime democratic fundraisers and donors went to now Pres Obama that should have been a real wake up call to her team that despite the lead in the polls Barack definitely had appeal & was a major challenger. I don’t think until she lost Iowa that her team really understood that. It should be a lesson though to future candidates. It doesn’t matter how many advantages you think you have never underestimate your opponents.

These issues have received very little attention thus far. I’m waiting for  someone to write an impartial book about the primaries that brings some of these factors to light, but I think I’m going to wait a long, long time.

whining about who gets to be the PR face for the criminal government seems so boring.  but the hillary-worship on this site is funny as hell.

  • Diana L. C.

I agree that Bill worked hard for Hillary and Chelsea also.  They WERE great assests to her campaign.  But there WERE many people who couldn’t separate her from Bill, and if they had a grudge against Bill, then they didn’t listen to her as an individual in her own right.

  • goldengrahme

Hmmmmm Jackie…I am both a birther and a truther. Oh, My God!

Say it ain’t so.  But it is and ask several other million alert Americans and curious thinking people across the globe–in Canada, England,
Australia, Germany, France.  They might take issue with your rather
    limited horizons and truncated mindset.

And they would not like being compared to the mentally deficient.

As I like to advise: step out of the controlling matrix.  ‘The matrix’ is not just a sci fi movie– (not my original phrase but it sums up
our penchant for denying the obvious).

  • Scott-VA

LOL   Hello!   That is exactly what Obama wanted… to not have to do anything!   He just wants all the glory without having to work hard to get there!    I mean this is a man who was upset that his Christmas vacation got interrupted by a little itty bitty terrorist attack on a US jetliner on Christmas Day!     L-A-Z-Y!!!!   And it’s showing……the empty shell is cracking before the end of year one!

  • Scott-VA

I’m standing behind Lou Dobbs too and I’m a long time Democrat!  I did my homework during the primaries and it all points to Obama not being born on USA soil!    All you have to do is get a few pieces of info from the Freedom of Information Act and nothing pieces together AT ALL!   I mean his mother was denied boarding of an airplane in Kenya because her pregnancy was too far along to take that long flight…   HIS OWN RELATIVES IN KENYA SWEAR TO HAVE WITNESSED HIS BIRTH THERE!    His mother passed through Seattle immigration on her return trip as having one child accompanying her…   In the early 1960s you could be born somewhere else and have your birth registered in the State of Hawaii…  I KNOW I WAS BORN THERE IN THE SAME DECADE!  My ORIGINAL birth certificate has a box for a birth that happened outside of the State of HI…  During those days you could obtain a birth certificate from Hawaii and not have been born there.  The certificate would, however, note that….  That’s why I have to laugh that he claims to have a birth certificate from hawaii … he very well could even if he wasn’t born there but that certificate would note that fact…. interesting that this is what is being covered up!   And finally, he was taken as a child to Indonesia by his mother and adopted by his new step father there.   There was no dual citizenship with Indonesia then so he would have lost his US Citizenship (IF HE EVEN HAD IT TO BEGIN WITH)…. Did he ever repatriate if this was the case?   This was never demostrated…. and the funny thing is  how did he travel to Pakistan in 1981 if he were a US Citizen?  It was forbidden by the US in those days.   This would have been very easy with an Indonesian passport which certain pieces of information point to have been the case here.     For all you non believers… have you actually even bothered to do any homework?  Or is it that you guys are so stupid that you believe EVERYTHING the media tells you?   What a good media liberal you are… LOL

  • Scott-VA

What I find funny is everytime Obama’s poll numbers tank, something else is released to discredit someone who could be a potential political threat to him.     The empty shell didn’t even make it a year before it’s all starting to unravel for him…. I guess his bleeding liberal media friends are trying to throw him yet another life line just in case Clinton (with poll numbers at new highs) becomes a political threat to him again!  LOL

  • propertius

I think the book is an obvious hit piece from the Perpetual Obama Campaign Machine ™. Isn’t it interesting how every time Obama’s numbers go down he finds a woman (or three, in this case: Sarah, Elizabeth, and Hillary) to beat up on? Or, more appropriately, he finds a woman to have a surrogate to beat up on, since he lacks the courage or the integrity to go toe-to-toe with any of them.

  • FlapJack

The oh-so-erudite Jackoff, I mean Jackie, posits:

‘The collective I.Q. of N.Q. just lowered again…’

Yes, Jackshit, it did.  And it will skyrocket again the moment you leave for your diaper change.  Judging by the stench, it’s long overdue.

  • Diana L. C.

Forcing an opponent to prove a negative–the “argumentum ad ignorantium.”  Jackie argues from her ignorance.  Perhaps she is mentally challenged and we should simply be kind to her because of her condition.

  • FLDemFem

“a star in her own right, a two term senator, who had the support of not only Dems, but a bunch of Reps. too, having worked on behalf of women and children her entire adult life, not to mention our military”

THAT is what scares them. They must know or suspect something, such as Hillary is about to either get the boot or quit at State, and they are trying to make sure she won’t be a challenger for The One in 2012. In a fair election, she would wipe the floor with him. And they know it, so they are doing a pre-emptive strike to thoroughly undermine her, or try to. It must really scare them that she has support across party lines and Obama is starting to lose the Dems in large numbers. If I were Obama, or his campaign manager, I would be very worried about 2012. The American electorate wants Hillary Clinton in the White House, and Obama’s team is finally figuring that out. And it scares them witless. Hence the third-hand smear job.

  • FLDemFem

Oka-a-yyy, Jackie..here’s a little challenge for you. PROVE he was born in the US, and was not adopted out of US citizenship, prove he never swore he was the citizen of another country to get a scholarship. Prove he is a natural-born US citizen. Go on, prove it. And don’t bother with the COLB which can be gotten for and by people who are not NBCs. That isn’t proof. So go ahead, prove it. Beyond a reasonable doubt. Go on..we are waiting.
