Scott Brown on Greta’s Show Right After the Last Debate

Brown is honing in on his potential status as the 41st senator who can break the stranglehold the Democrats have on the health care plan. Brown is also concerned that Coakley doesn’t sufficiently grasp the threat to our national security from extremist groups:

For more on Scott Brown and the Massachusetts race, see “Boston Herald endorses Scott Brown for Senate [Update],” which also provides a list, at the end, of more posts at NoQuarter about Brown.

  • weezer_here

Go Scott!   We have a chance to halt at least slow this current mania!  I will go donate.

  • getfitnow

I read a post by someone working the phones. Seniors who mailed checks (no internet) wanted to make sure their $$ would be counted.

I hope this is the end of lock-stepping on both sides.

    Go Scott!

  • Uppity Woman

Well we certainly are working hard to further reduce the already paltry number of wimmin in Congress in order to adjust the “numbers”. Funny how men’s races aren’t getting as much attention. Just saying. There’s also Ford who wants to help out in NY. That way they those bitches will continue to have to go along instead of actually pushing back with their Power In Numbers. Now that’s progress. Who knows? We might even get rid of all of them. Wouldn’t that be cool?

Woman: Manipulated to keep themselves down forever. Rinse and Repeat.

    Just some food for thought.

  • Texas Playwright

If Martha vowed to vote no on the health scam bill and hollered to re-instate women’s health needs in a saner bill, I would support her from way down here in good old boy Texas.  She supposedly said she’d “reluctantly” support the health scam bill.  “Reluctantly”  isn’t good enough and is where women get into trouble and lose power, IMO.  This half assed, less than approach has hurt women for centuries.

  • cat

    What “men’s races?”

There are no other Special Senate Elections on 1/19 and this is not about
“reducing the number of women in congress” either.

At stake is Ted Kennedy’s seat. He was a guy as far as I know.

But, by all means, go ahead and vote for Coakley, a woefully unprepared candidate who did a total flip-flop on health care and suddenly announced she’d through women under the bus and support Obamacare in all i’ts Roe damaging glory so “more people would be covered.

Coakley already showed women she’d sacrifice them to serve her party, so screw her.

  • I’m a Linda too

Personally, I think the greatest argument for Kirsten Gillebrand is Harold Ford, Jr.  Can you get a bigger loser than hiim?  But then again, he also  seems to be a perfect poster child for the Democrats.

  • Jazzman

What a bunch of hogwash… Brown gets it eh???? Gets what? The Republican talking points? This guy is dead weight and the only difference between him and Coakley is the amount of dead brain cells….

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo
  • Anonymous

Oh I’m sure martha wasn’t strongarmed and threatened or anything. That never happens.

Power is in Numbers. Women do not have the numbers. If we keep falling for reducing the numbers, we Thrill them. Honestly, women are so easy to trick. Even easier than AAs are to trick. We are nothing but useful fools and the most delightful part for them is we HELP to keep our own numbers down.

Funny how there aren’t any MEN in races we could take out to reduce numbers of Democrats in Congress. Funny, that. It’s absolutely frighenting to watch how easily women are manipulated to help keep their own power in numbers down. Frightening. We are our own worst enemies.  We are 50 percent of the population and working really hard to make sure we are 10 percent of the power. If it were up to these boys they would get rid of ALL of them. Why doesn’t anybody See what’s going on here? BOTH parties are Thrilled.

    Plan on NO mammograms next.

  • Uppity Woman

Tha above post was me. I hate this new system. It doesn’t even allow for WordPress users as a choice and I am not going to join JS-Kit.

  • Uppity Woman

Don’t ask me how I got my message posted three times. Beats me. lol.

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

I’ll take the dead brain cells that stand to throw a small wrench in the destruction of our country by Democrats, thank you. I’m not sayng we need to have a massive GOP takeover, but a notch in the margins in congress might make the children play nicer.

You know, they might actually would have to work together on building a consensus vs. ramming filibuster proof, poorly written legislation down our throats.

  • Uppity Woman

Cat PLEASE consider what I am saying here.

We have been manipulated to the nines. Again. We should be ADDING women not reducing them. That health care bill is going to pass EITHER WAY. Dumping women is only going to make what is left have LESS ability to push back in the future. the only CHANGE women has is power in NUMBERs not token slots. This is what we DO to ourselves. Men circle each others wagons and we DUMP our women because they didn’t have the power to do anything but what they are told by the men who have the POWER and the NUMBERS.

When you dump one woman, you dump them all. We are taking one step forward and two backwards, continuously.

Yes Ted Kennedy’s seat is at stake and he was a guy. So we need to replace him with a guy, I guess. No sense of increasing women’s numbers or anything. Do you really think her opponent is going to buck his party once he’s elected? REALLY? He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. It’s not called Flip Flop. It’s called STRONGARM.

  • cat

Sorry, I don’t subscribe to the Identity Politics stuff-that brought us Barack Obama.

Voting gender is not logical when you are faced with a candidate like Coakley running for one of MA’s two precious Senate seats.

Coakely and…John Kerry?? Please. I guess you are not a MA resident.

  • Uppity Woman

I give up. On women advancing themselves and on JS-Kit. I had to crash Firefox just to get it to stop re-posting my comments in an endless loop.

And women are in an endless loop too.

  • Tuppence 411

I will say it again ( and get slammed for it again) if Scott was a woman he would be getting a lot of grief in the press over his slim resume, which is filled with many local achievements but no state-wide wins or national experience. If he was a woman, his family would be under the microscope as well, and there would be a ridiculous debate in the media going on whether having a child appear on American Idol is a sign of bad parenting.

This isn’t a slam against Scott.  I find him capable and know he is well liked and respected in his District.  The purpose of my post is to point out how differently we and the media treat woman from men when running for office. Women get scrutinized and men get  taken on face value.

  • trentlot

I’m sorry but voting for women and they turned out to be Clarie, Nancy, Boxer,  to name a few is a disservice to women everywhere….. I said after what they did to Hillary… not one women nor a Dem is getting my vote….. Ever… Ever….

Untill Dem can explain to me and redeem themselves for how being black qualifies Obama to be president…. And even on that count the argument is not truth because the bastard is half black….. not to mention his upbringing……

  • trentlot

Tuppence 411…. if you put Scott and Obama on the race… Scott gets my vote hands down.   Anyone who fought for this country is a winner….

  • Doc99

HMO’s and Pharma lobby to stop Scott.
    http://tinyurl.com/y9zg9hw

Now you know who wins in the Dems Healthcare Bill.

  • Nunly

Uppity, Ya know I love ya—but you are dead wrong on this.  That’s the same as voting for Obama because he is black.  You can’t ignore the record of the person you are voting for.  I don’t care if the person is a man or a woman. I want a qualified candidate who is willing to fight for our freedom and be the voice of the people.

If there is a choice between a very good woman and a very good man. Sure, I’d vote for the woman. But when the choice is between a woman who is a liar and refuses to be the voice of her constituents, one who folds to the pressure of her party to vote for a bill that sucks…ya gotta go with the man.

  • Chicago Joe

But wait…..the caped crusader might just fly in to save the day (that is, if the polls look good for Martha).  Caveat to all you sucker Dems running for office.  Barry is in it for himself.   If she looks like a loser, he will keep his distance.

But don’t you recognize the m. o.?  He is not going to Copenhagen for the Olympics…except he does (maybe he learned a lesson there).

Uppity, with all due respect, the national policies at stake trump identity politics in this race.  And I wouldn’t support a woman who is following the pied piper off a cliff regardless.

  • Mary Cusack

Uppity, I respectfully disagree with you about choosing QUANTITY over QUALITY.  you can have 100 women who just tow the line of the same ole patriarcal line and sinker and they won’t be worth 1 woman who actually stands for something.  I’d rather have one FAIR AND ENLIGHTENED MAN over 100 of those women who just nod and go with the flow

  • Chicago Joe

    Isn’t that a delicious long-term plan?

  • Sassy

With polls indicating that citizens are unsatisfied with the direction of the country, the voters in Massachusetts have the opportunity for a first strike against the democrats.
It will be interesting to see if they use their advantage or forfeit it!

  • Chicago Joe

Agreed. And every time Brown opens his mouth, he speaks with great respect and awareness of the “three women” he lives with.  I think he gets it.

  • Mary Cusack

In 1776 the shot heard around the world was fired on a field in Massachusetts.  Just think a new revolution could be sparked again by a shot over the bow of the Democrate Elite Oligarchy on January 19th

  • Nunly

I agree.  The Democrats are bringing in the big guns to support Coakley…Bill Clinton is supposed to be camapigning for her today. They have the money and the star power….let’s hope that those in Mass. don’t fall prey to the glitter again.

I really really like Brown and wish I lived in Mass. to vote for him.

  • Peggy Sue

Tuppence, you’re absolutely right about the double standard.  We all know it exists.  In fact, Brown apparently posed for a nude magazine spread to help pay for law school.

We can all imagine the uproar if Coakley had done the same.  She wouldn’t be able to run for dog catcher.

I think this race is illustrating the absolute rage of the electorate towards DC.

  • Jim S

Like Scott Brown, I live with 3 women, wife and 2 daughters and like him I too put the seat down. We learn (get taught) what’s right and what’s wrong. Scott has learned but Martha? She doesn’t get it when it comes to terrorists or healthcare. I donated to Scott, first donation to a Republican in my 60+ years. Found out I woke up this morning and life is still going on. Might do the Republican thing again depending on who’s running. No more D or R, it’s America first.

  • tango

I also want more women – but only if they’re the RIGHT women who are strong and stand up for themselves and those who elected them.

That supposedly is a problem with Gillibrand in NY and Harold Ford. Apparently, Chuck Schumer (and by extension, the WH) want her to be reelected because they consider her easily controlled and manipulated to do what they want.  The are less sure about Ford so don’t want to see him in office.

Since I’m not from NY nor really know anything about either Gillibrand nor Ford, I can’t comment on which is a better choice for that state.

  • tango

Talk about taking away some of the attention from Coakley. You know all the reporters will be asking about the book and the revelation of Bill having an affair last year and the other gossipy things in that new book.  He’ll have to try to deflect those questions while still campaigning for Coakley.

  • Chicago Joe

Yeah, if I were Bill, I would pretty much stay home.  There is no upside for him in this.

  • foxyladi14

  • JustMe

Posted 3 times Uppity cos women rule! You go girl!!!!

  • mountainaires

I really don’t feel personally invested in this race. I am only interested in observing what happens, since I think it’s a hint of things to come. If Coakley squeaks by, but wins, I think it’s a bad sign for the Democrats for November. If Brown squeaks by with a win, I think it’s a bad sign for Democrats for November.

Basically, the American people are not happy with this health care “reform” plan. Now, maybe when we get a final bill, they will change their minds, I don’t know. But, right now, I think Democrats are not in a good place, politically speaking, with the electorate. This Health Care Reform debacle has left a very bad taste in their collective mouths. So, pass it or not, the Democratic Party has shot themselves in the foot; they tackled the WRONG issue. It should have been financial reform and the economy. But, nooooooo; just like Bush was determined to invade Iraq, Obama was determined to do this “reform” thing.

What we’ll end up with is anybody’s guess, but so far, the American people don’t like what’s going on. That’s not good for Coakley. And, the Democrats are to blame.

  • Tuppence 411

Sassy- the polls in MA are all over the place for Brown, but Martha is consistently hovering at  plus/ minus 50%. Believe it not,  the weather will determine the winner Tuesday.  If it is snowing or very cold, the senior citizens won’t go out  to vote ( and the majority of them love Martha).  She’ll fall below 50 and Brown will have a real chance.  On the other hand, a N’oreaster wouldn’t stop either Pro-Brown or those fed-up with the current administration from casting their vote.  They’ll come out in a blizzard. Bad weather is good for Scott, bad for Martha.

I will ask you again — where is the shame in having a child appear on American Idol?  What am I missing?

  • Tuppence 411

Whoa- see?  I live in MA, wired to the internet, and that is the first I heard of any nude pics.  Look at the double-standard. Sarah Palin gets hammerred because her “almost” son-in-law, a young man who she has no control over, poses for Playgirl yet when it is a man there is no media attention.  We hold women in politics to impossible standards.  Making them responsible for not only their public record, but their private lives and those of their spouses and children, business associates……  And we wonder why there are so few women in politics.   Eve is alive and well in American politics.  It’s all her fault ya know. She should have been more responsible and looked after Adam better, nevermind offering him a decision on the apple.  And her  sons!  well that didn’t turn out so well either……

  • mountainaires

I spoke too soon. Now, I’m very personally invested in the outcome of this race. Here’s why, essential reading on all aspects of this health care bill. A Nightmare!

  • Tuppence 411

There is no shame.   But you miss my point. If Scott was a woman, the media would be finding something to critique about it…… If his name was Sally Brown his critics would use it against him. Joy Behar would convene a panel of yahoos to discuss it ad nauseum.  Somehow twist it around that Sally Brown is a bad mother and therefore would be a bad Senator.

  • Tuppence 411

Hey Doc- that’s my local newspaper!  Are you from here too?  Brown was fast with a response ad.  And it was the most impressive ad from him I have seen to date.  And the pic of Martha with Deval Patrick ( the beta-test version of Oblahblah)?  That was good drama.  If he can sucessfully connect her in the minds of voters to Deval- and the failed Patrick administration as a harbinger of a failing Obama administration- he has a real shot at winning.

Money is defintely flowing in to this race. I think it’s going to be a bumpy ride for all involved over the next week.

  • Peggy Sue

There would be plenty of shame, Guest, if the Idol appearance could be attached to a mother.  Then, it would indicate poor decison making, crass exploitation and some fundamental parenting deficiency.  But applied to a male?  Nada.

Of course, when women bring this sort of thing up, we’re frequently told to stop whining or we’re too sensitive. Yada, yada, yada.

But you tell me.  If Martha Coakley had posed for Cosmopolitan at age 27, a nude centerfold [even though tastefully done] would she get a pass?

Not on your life.  The Hounds from Hell would be unleashed.

  • Kathy in CA

Uppity – love you but this is NOT TED KENNEDY’s seat.  This is an open Senate seat.  As for the health care bill passing regardless, maybe or maybe not.  Right now it appears that many people are fighting very hard to make sure the bill in it’s current form does not pass, because of the corruption, manipulation, and reduced freedom it represents.  Now that is American.

  • Uppity Woman

If Martha Coakley posed nude when she was 22, and the photos were on the net, what exactly would we do to her?
    Just asking.
    http://www.cosmopolitan.com/celebrity/news/scott-brown-nude-in-cosmo
Hopefully if he gets elected, he will show us his bazooka.

  • jangles

I usually agree with you uppity but I think you are wrong on this.  This race is not about getting women in the Sen or the House—this race is about securing support for women’s reproductive rights.  I would not vote for Michelle Bachman here who supports Stupakistan, so why would I vote for Coakley.  Women who cave on principle are no more politically blessed and buffered than men.  The Dem party needs to experience that we own our votes and they have to earn mine—they are not entitled to it because they are Dems or because they are women.  For me from here forward, you want my vote, you vote my principles or your rival gets my vote—especially if she/he is voting my principles.

  • Mary

Yes, indeed.   The  HMO’s   and  Big  Pharma  have  rushed  in   to  support   Coakley.

    Hellooooooooooooooooooo

  • Mary

On   the other  hand,  Uppity,   Martha   Coakley   said  last  night  in   the last  debate    that  there  aren’t  anymore   Taliban/terrorists    in  Afghanistan,  so  we  can  bring  the  troops home.

I  can’t  think of  anything  more  stupid  that she  could have  chosen  to   say,   than   that.

No  one  cares  if    Brown   posed  as  a   law  student    decades  ago,  naked.    Really,  they  don’t.

They  DO  care   that    Coakley   doesn’t  have  a  clue     what’s  happening  in  Afghanistan,   or    who  the  Taliban  are.

    THAT    matters.

  • Tuppence 411

Woo-hoo! Scott “six-pack” Brown.  I wonder if some  sex-toy enterprenuers will make a blow of doll of him like they did with Sarah Palin?  How about a nutcracker? Now that would make sense ’cause ya know he has got two…… Not on your life.

  • Sassy

Women and children first applies to lifeboats…unless there’s a dem politician nearby!
Forget gender. If women want to hold office, they need to merit the privilege, and that is the voters’ decision.

  • buzzlatte

Thank-you!  It’s time to be past party, gender, and race politics and realize it’s now the best person for the job.  The independents are making the difference now and they don’t care for identity politics.  I include myself in that group.

    UPPITY,

I think you’ d better start blaming YOUNG women for our present predicament and other things.

Uppity, I hear you.  I was thinking the same thing.  I would like, more than anything, to see this health care bill defeated, but why is it always to the detriment of a woman?

  • Peggy Sue

I mentioned this upthread, Uppity.  If that picture were of Martha Coakley, she’d be skinned alive.

    No double standard?  Really!

  • getfitnow

As Brown said last night, it’s not Ted Kennedy’s seat, it’s the people’s seat. I’m in CA but started following this race, not knowing anything about the candidates. I listened to both debates and if it were possible to mute the genders, and decide on what was said, I would vote for Brown.

Identity politics play too big a part in what we have today. I don’t want more Pelosis in power.
