I’ve long wanted to post about Charlie and his mother’s site, but have feared that the ‘bots would attack them. It’s time to chance it:

Charlie’s mom is a young woman who lives in the wilds of Wyoming. After his coyote parents were shot to death, little Charlie was brought to her to raise. Charlie sleeps with his mom, her cat, and now a dog.

She supports his care with a daily newsletter, calendar, prints and t-shirts, and a soon-to-be-published book. Subscribing is easy and very inexpensive. It was a birthday gift to me from my daughter.

It is highly unusual for her to publish a photo like the one above. Almost all of her photographs are of Charlie. Here’s one, when Charlie was a baby:

No matter what is going on in my life, I look forward to opening the daily notes from Charlie’s mom and the photo of Charlie — some funny, some cute, some poignant, some soulful, and always heartfelt and beautiful.

It is a crime that coyotes are routinely shot on sight. They are remarkable creatures. I pray that Charlie has a long life with his mom, who loves him dearly.

“Three of seven defendants in the biggest voter-registration fraud scheme in Washington history have pleaded guilty and one has been sentenced, prosecutors said Monday.
The defendants were all temporary employees of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, when they allegedly filled out and submitted more than 1,800 fictitious voter-registration cards during a 2006 registration drive in King and Pierce counties.
No votes were cast in the names of the phony voters. Prosecutors said the defendants committed fraud in order to keep their jobs without actually registering voters.
King County election workers brought the fraud to the attention of prosecutors last October, after noticing that signatures on many registration forms looked like they had been written by the same person.”

The Philadelphia story:
“Philadelphia elections officials are accusing the nonprofit advocacy group “Acorn” of filing fraudulent voter registrations in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary.
Acorn, which advocates on behalf of low-income residents in the city, has mounted a voter registration drive in the past few months. But city election commissioners are complaining that many of the submitted registrations appear to be faulty, and they have forwarded the matter to the district attorney’s office for further investigation.
Krista Holub, Acorn’s political director in Pennsylvania, promised the elections officials that her group will cooperate:
“We’re very committed to helping low- to moderate-income people across the state get registered to vote. And we’re here to work closely with the board of elections to make sure that everyone we’re helping to apply gets on the rolls.”
The city officials say many of the addresses listed on the registrations are invalid, but Acorn blames the post office for not adequately servicing low-income communities.
That’s rich. It’s all the post office’s fault!

I had my pc hacked into after I opened an email from the democrats.org blog email I was on. It turned out to be a remote control executable which caused my computer to be remotely controlled. I would be doing my regular reading and commenting during the campaign, and my mouse pointer would start jiggling. Finally, I typed a message to the person controlling my mouse pointer remotely. When I would catch them, they would stop. After a few days of battling with the mouse pointer, I did a thorough search for trojans and malware. That was when I discovered a demo of a remote control program running embedded inside my system. So the Obots can do damage in many ways. Fortunately, I have a licensed Remote Control Software and done research on those before I bought the one I have on my machine. The one I found was not one of my tested executables. At least like other people, I knew what I had found. How many other HRC supporters know whether or not their machines might be overseen by an Obot cracker?

I reported Nine car tires slashed since Oct 2007 after I began volunteering for HRC. I recently reported those those to our SD. During a mailing session with locals earlier this year, one woman was stalked on the freeway. She was followed by young punks. She is a 50-something woman who really could only make out that they were doing that because of her HRC bumber sticker. Other women were being harassed too. I wonder about mine. After posting on AOL the Political Machine, some of my posts said I needed to validate my comments by returning the emails. Since I used the special password provided me, to eliminate the email sendback it made me start looking at the return emails. The return emails had some kind of code embedded in them. Not every comment email return had this, just certain ones. I also noticed the jiggley curser too and told them to go to hell. I also posted on the PM site what was happening. I have an anti hacker program which probably doesn’t catch all those trojons, malware. What did show up were some contact of my pc by Microsoft. Of course Microsoft normally is a low danger. On a news article I noticed that a Microsoft employee had been arrested for hacking. One of the locations that one of the Microsoft contacts came from was a town with a high population of Arabs, including a college. Does any of this mean anything? Dunno but I still have the emails.
After one PM OP-ED person demanded to know my real name and address, I have become afraid, but it will not deter me in helping to defeat Barack Obama.

Do some searches for malware and spyware and make sure that they do not have malware and spyware. Check the security websites. After three to four days of cleaning my machine, I now use Sandboxie to isolate urls which I do not trust.

And, by the way, I did hear a report from a friend who is a Mac user about a potential security threat. Mac is now Unix underneath. So, Unix hackers can break into Mac. I am not a Mac user so check your Mac user groups.

I went over to TexasDarlin’s site and was unable to find anything about the dead-bunny story, and I’ve just spent awhile searching for references to Clinton delegates in Washington State getting harassed on primary day and couldn’t find a single one, which makes inclined to think that one is bullshit. But I have meant to read about Texas, so if you post some info I will track it down in the morning.

As for why I could get it into the MSM when they insist on ignoring it — the answer to that is, they don’t insist on ignoring anything, you PUMAs just fantasize that they do. In reality, the mainstream media will run with any sensational story about any of the candidates in a heartbeat if they feel they have enough evidence and they think it will get them sales or ratings. Obama in particular they salivate over — are you telling me they didn’t run stories on Reverend Wright? Are you insane? For a period of two solid weeks there were more Wright stories in the MSM than there were about any other subject, from Iraq to the real estate crisis or anything else. This is documented fact. And then there was the infamous Philadelphia debate when Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulus asked Obama the most insanely biased questions I have ever heard in a presidential debate (my personal favorite stain on the reputation of the American media being George asking Obama “Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?”). No doubt a lot of the media has a crush on Obama. That happens. They (we) had a crush on Bill Clinton, too, in 1992, and the media has absolutely worshipped John Straight-Talkin’ Maverick McCain for decades — he famously once called the press corps “my base.” But when scandal hits they will turn on anyone like jackals, because scandals bring viewers and viewers bring ad dollars and ad dollars bring raises and promotions. You get it? Your notion that the media refuses to run negative Obama stories is laughable. If I uncovered serious evidence of unprosecuted crimes by Obama supporters, I could get it published in a heartbeat. For real. So you show me. I’m particularly interested in TexasDarlin proving that a dead rabbit was left on her porch and her tires were slashed. Show me evidence. Just because it really happened and is documented doesn’t mean anything is ever done about it. After the Florida election in 2000 the 1965 Civil Rights Commission documented all the voter irregularities that took place with sworn testimony from both voters and election officials and sent a report to Attorney General Ashcroft for prosecution because the 1965 Civil Rights Act did not give the Commission prosecutorial powers.

In 2004 Congressman Conyers compiled a report on the election irregularities and presented in to Congress and it was ignored.

Why should any irregularities reported in the 2008 election be investigated when the findings of the two previous elections which were investigated were totally ignored?

You like to find your own truth? Then I suggest you start with that 2000 1965 Civil Right commission report and work your way up to the investigation being done on Barack Obama’s eligibility for the office of president. And if you still tell yourself that “nothing happened” in any of these last three presidential elections don’t blame us if your “journalism world” never gives you accolades for investigative reporting. But don’t try to snow us with your version of truth until you use your journalistic skills on Obama’s multiple aliases.

I was hiking once in a local open space and a coyote family crossed by trail. Two parents and two pups. One of the younger one had not
seen a human before and stopped and stared. I walked backwards slowly. The parents turned around a directed the pups to follow them. Soon they were gone.

I found that site ~6 months ago..well worth visiting. When I lived in Wyoming, we had frequent visits by coyotes. It was fascinating watching a small pack play and “sing” trying to induce domestic canines to come and play. Dogs that answered the “siren’s song” ended up as dinner.

I am glad you are enjoying the story. It’s only $5/month to receive her daily notes and photos, and I’m sure she relies on it to feed Charlie, her cat, and dog and any vet bills. She takes Charlie outside a lot for walks, which makes me nervous, but she wants him to love the outdoors.

I can also attest to the fact that prior to our state primaries, Hillary for President yard signs were continuously stolen or mutilated. No, there isn’t evidence or proof that Obama supporters did it, but again I ask, who else would do it? Who else would think that their candidate benefited from destroying a yard sign? I live in a college town, so put 2 and 2 together.

There is a coyote den near us, right next to a newly built road. A friend lets here dog run free there and one day, a coyote came out to watch. Didn’t bother the dog at all.

He was down in the arroyo, even closer during the heavy rains we had.

There has been a puma roaming in the area for awhile and few weeks ago a neighbor saw a big cat across the arroyo. Animal control and the wildlife service had been out a couple times, but the puma escaped their efforts. I’m glad…I think it may have gone back up to the mountains…

I worry for cougars. Everytime one is spotted around here near human dwellings, the thugs go out in force to kill it.

When we first arrived in the stae we live now, we often heard the coyotes call at dusk. One night I heard howling in the backyard. I looked outside, my dogs were standing in a semi-circle answering the coyotes. We had a most wonderful dog, Great Pyrenees mix, Herman T Biggins…..every evening at dusk he did his walk around to let coyotes know that he was there and better keep their distance. They did…we never lost a chicken one! Herman has passed on now. He always led the other dogs in the evening chorus of “Coyotes Stay Away”. And they no longer sing back when they hear the coyotes….I miss him and those days!

A friend adopts rescued Jack Russel terriers. As is true with a lot of “Jacks”, this puppy was “wild”. She was looking out of the kitchen window at a small group of coyotes in the yard doing their “sing and dance”; the Jack ran through the dog door to get a closer look..unfortunately the pack has positioned one of their members beside the door. The next thing that my friend saw was the coyote carying the Jack in it’s mouth and running toward the pack. Coyotes are very smart.

You must pay attention to his psychcological state as he wrote this book. There is merit as to his recollection and how he remembers past stories that reflect his present psychological state.

As a child and a teen and up to the present time he is a disturbed man with mental illness and he admits to being an addict in his very own book.

Coyoties don’t need to be killed. It is such a braindead way of dealing with it. You only need two good dogs, possibly Kuvasz.
Kuvasz was bread to protect livestock such as cattle, sheep, etc. from animals as wolves, bears and from bandits too. They served well for as long as the hungarian memory goes back.
You barely need to train them – they are hardwired to protect your property and your family. Two of them is an army.
Kuvasz need some minimal training to come back to you when you call. They get cranky with old age and you want to keep them from attacking the mail man, the guy who reads the electric meter, etc.

The Maremma from Italy, the Akbash and Anatolian from Turkey, Komondor and Kuvasz from Hungary, and the Tatra Sheepdog from Poland. Only the Kuvasz and the Komondor join the Great Pyrenees as AKC-recognized breeds. They are all excellent guardians.

Back to coyotes …

Sadly I had two beloved family cats who were killed by coyotes. Pittipoo and Pounce. As we have dogs in our family, our cats never developed fear of canids. Thus they probably walked right into the jaws of what killed them. Maybe even tried to rub up against them.

It nearly destroyed me, having that happen. Yes a coyote has to eat, but it is difficult to experience the eating of a member of one’s family the same way as the eating of some random wild creature.

It’s been tough, and there was a period when I would’ve happily strangled any coyote with my bare hands. But of course one never knows exactly which coyote did it. Once or twice I heard gun shots in my neighborhood (very suburban if on the edge of wilderness) and didn’t bother to call the police. And now we don’t see as many coyotes.

Then one day there was one on the road who’d just been hit, and her poor hindquarters were destroyed but she was conscious and trying to get up. Boy that broke my heart and all my hatred for coyotes dissolved on that day. I got a blanket from the back of my car and covered her while I waited for the animal people to arrive. They put her down and I cried.

Nature is a harsh master.

The more I get to know my neighborhood coyote bitch and her pups, the less interested I become in people. Across the street from my home is a 1.3 by 2.4 mile Aquifer Recharge area, which also abuts BLM land.

On those evenings when a smoke is just inevitable, about 0200 I sit outside on a bench and puff away very quietly. Sometime in the ensuing 30-45 minutes, two young coyotes, not yet yearlings, will come trotting up the street like they own it.

When no one is going down the street with a car stereo pumping the latest dreck, we can hear the Coyote SUndown Serenade.

Beats the crap out of watching Brian Williams, anyway.

I so agree with you. It heals me to feed and watch the animals and birds.

I’m so intrigued when I watch Stellar Jays take in two to three whole peanuts — stuffing them down their throats (in the shell), and flying off so they can regurgitate them and hide them.

Every night, I feed a mom who brings along her teenage raccoons. They are so damn cute! I put out a big plastic box filled with water, and put some grapes and a few blueberries in it, and they bob for the treats, with their little butts sticking up in the air.

The mom is so protective, and has taught them well. They run and hide everytime I even open the backdoor. Which is how it should be. I would never DREAM of trying to touch them or pet them — they must remain very wary of people.

Even though my 11 year old cat was killed by a coyote, I still love coyotes. Their habitats in California and elsewhere are being threatened via over-development by unscrupulous real estate speculators who are now going belly-up here.
