“Buckling But Not Breaking”; Hillary Arrives

Workers, aid, and officials, including the UN, Canadians, Icelanders, EU members, and Americans, to name a few, continue to pour into Haiti. How are the people there coping with the wide-spread destruction? I think this reporter, Jonathan Hunt, sums it up beautifully:

One of the officials there, also the highest ranking American to arrive on the scene, was Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, of course. Here she is seen meeting with Haiti’s president, Rene Preval, and others, to discuss where they go from here:

Secretary Clinton took time out to meet with Greta Van Susteren:

As Sec. Clinton pointed out, the UN was directly affected by this earthquake, and also lost people. Certainly not on the level of Haitians, but still…Americans were also lost, and possibly other nationalities as well (determinations are still being made).

To say it is a difficult time there is a vast understatement. But as Secretary Clinton points out, there are many there working for the Haitians, from many different countries, but one thing is clear. It shows the “Best of Americans:”

Well said, Secretary Clinton. People all over are pulling together, even Secretary Clinton’s staff buying up items at area drugstores. Wow.

The people there are strong, “buckling but not breaking.” They will need to continue to dig deep, and find that resolve. Help is there, help is on its way, and there is hope…

Hillary Clinton always rises to the occasion. She is what young women should aspire to be. She CARES about people, she Works for people, she Studies problems to see how to fix them. We are lucky to have her in our lives at this time. It is America’s loss that she is not president, but it is the world’s gain that she is SOS.

WOMEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND EXPERIENCE, MEN WHO SUPPORT THEM AND COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

    PUMAS,BUBBAS,EQUALISTS AND THOSE PEOPLE RULE

I thought it was the “Horseman known as Zorro”  but I’m sure Hillary will rise to the occasion/.

I have been a Hillary supporter since Day One!  She is doing an excellent job!  Reports are coming in that aid in quantities are arriving in a  systematic and safe manner  to the various neighborhoods of the capital!   Thank-god!  Atta  Americangirl…she will do us proud!

Sometimes I think we just plain underestimate and can not appreciate how complex, difficult and challenging such overwhelming disasters are.  We think all we have to do is bugle for the cavalry to arrive and things will be fixed.  The reality is so much more than we can get our minds around.  Ultimately humans have to do what humans do; they have to figure out how to make the best out of what they have and where they are.  I think it is so inspiring to know that a country like Haiti with so many strikes against it is in fact reaching into the inner resources of every one human being to wage the struggle for survival.  I pray relief gets to them efficiently very soon but it is heartwarming to see what they are doing for themselves.  When they remember this time, that must be the story they remember and tell to every generation.

Hillary would roll up her sleeves and do her best to clean out the Aegean Stables.  Somebody has to shovel, and she is the worker.  Some work, some golf.

I’m glad she is in Haiti doing her best to help those poor people.  They couldn’t have a more competent friend and advocate.

Excellent observation, jangles, and I share your hopes…

This is tough situation, but I hope people can spend a few moments feeling good about our country. Private citizens are donating millions of dollars everyday. The media of course focuses on the problems, but seeing those air drops of supplies, watching those rescuers, the hospital ship off the coast, it’s heartwarming. This is one of the things that’s so good about our country, that we have the means and the resources to help people and we answer the call whenever it’s needed.

Watching Hillary on the ground was inspiring, too. It’s a bummer we couldn’t have her as president, but in way it’s almost like she’s right where she needs to be, for the people of Haiti, anyway. Can you imagine if Obama was Sec of State? She’s in the perfect position to bring comfort and coordination to the rescue effort. With her experience and her wisdom, those people have half a chance of getting thru this disaster.

Amy, I was fortunate enough to see Hillary in Haiti on a morning replay on C-Span.
Jonathan Hunt was fabulous in directing aid to an orphanage that was in dire straits. His report on Fox somehow got back down the chain to Haiti, and later he did an update on Shepherd Smith’s segment.
I have read and seen both heartbreaking and courageous stories.
I’m with these people in spirit and wish them success!

Yes!  Hillary Clinton  is and should be an inspiration to young and old alike.   She just keeps on doing what is right and necessary and gets little credit but she does it because her prorities are straight.   Just imagine if she was president, healthcare, jobs, wall street,  she would be heard because she KNOWS her issues and how to work hard at everything she does.     If the media and her so-called democrat leaders would have given her a fair shot or at least equal she would be president.  In spite of  that she still got the popular vote.   Oh and she didn’t need a vacation a month.

I’m never surprised by anything Hillary does because I know she can do anything. But I’m soooo proud to’ve supported her in 2008 and will do so again if she ever needs me.

BTW, I don’t really buy into time travel, so I’m wondering how I can join in Dec. 31, 1969. (See note to the top right of this thread.)

Interesting. The US State Department said Wednesday it has lifted an effective Bush-era ban on Muslim scholars Adam Habib and Tariq Ramadan, saying neither is deemed a security threat to the United States. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said SOS Clinton signed documents allowing the South Africa-based Habib and Britain-based Ramadan to apply for US visas like other prospective visitors. What could this possibly mean? Anyone?

What you can know is that AMERICANS will stay with the dying and injured and give them comfort in the faceof violence.  American Soldiers are known for this compassion.  Remember the little girl in Iraq who was fatally injured by a car bomb.  I know the young man that cradled this baby til she died.

CNN’s Dr Gupta kept his staff at a hospital to trat the sick when the Belgians and Canadians left at night due to violence.  1 doctor (American) CNN tv crew a Hatian nurse and thier hired body guards stayed there.

Our soldiers will do the same a extreme risk to them selves.

VERY FEW OTHER NATIONS can say this about their emergency crews we can say this about average citizens, soldiers and even TV crews.

We are a unique people.  God Bless America!

I supported Hillary from the get-go and every time she’s in the news, I’m sorry that she’s not sitting in the White House.  She should be POTUS.  But, not having that, not just the country but the world is the better because she’s doing what she’s doing.

  • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Great comments, y’all – you are so right.  We ARE a generous people, we prove it every day in our outreach to those who are suffering, in the midst of a disaster, and in need.  Thank you for highlighting this!

  • Ani

    Amen.

Thank you so much for your post, Jackie S.

You and me both, sister – right there with you, PE!

Uh, yeah – we’re working on that.  Getting that thing gone, not time travel (though apparently, Obama’s parents knew how to do it since they had him 4 yrs BEFORE the March on Selma)…

  • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Amen to that, PuppyDog Mom – you said it!!

Darwin, those are some good questions.  I’d be interested in seeing what anyone learns abt that…

“She is what young women should aspire to be.”

She is what I aspire to be.

  • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Absolutely – she certainly is an inspiration to me!

And yes, had the DNC not fixed the nominating process, she would certainly be our president.  This past year would hav ebeen very different, too, wouldn’t it?
