Barky! You Need To Work On That Debate Phobia, Fella!

I was just reading No Quarter’s piece on how Barack Obama Snubbed New Orleans. Again. He refuses to participate in a Town Hall debate with John McCain there. Now as it is, Obama has managed to dodge any gathering sponsored by African Americans, including the 2008 State Of The Black Union. That alone is despicable. But I think there is something much deeper at play here.
Do you not wish you had a $1000 for every time you heard Barky Obama say, “I Would Be Happy To Have That Debate“? Would you not be able to take a greeeeeeeeeeeeat vacation on those bucks? Yet……when it comes time to “have that debate,” Barack Obama is never too happy. He cops out.
If you recall, he agreed and then copped out in North Carolina as well. He said he was too busy campaigning, I think.
Then he refused to have unmoderated mano a mano Lincoln-Douglas debates with Hillary. It wasn’t hard to see who the tougher “man” was there, hey? Of course, by that time he had already threatened and/or paid off enough superdelegates so he didn’t feel the need to take the chance on letting America know more about who and what he is.
Next, he refused a series of Town Hall debates with John Mccain. I mean, gee, what was he afraid of? Considering he accuses McCain of having memory lapses, I would think he would be EAGER to do town halls with him. I guess, you can’t have a “lapse” yourself if you don’t know shit to begin with. Besides, in a Town Hall, he would have to answer questions asked by dirty common peons. I mean, if he tells a little impressionable kid that the reason he’s running for President is because “America is Going Downhill,” what on earth could we expect from him at a Town Hall? Look what he did to a bunch of old people when one of them asked the “wrong question”. Or how about when he was in Israel dodging a question until he could figure out something to say, while the question kept getting asked — until somebody put their foot on his throat to answer. He told them Why don’t you tell your buddies to speak up louder when they have a question”. Very professional, that. The guy is just chock full of interpersonal skills, isn’t he? Let’s face it. The guy hates talking to people who aren’t at a cocktail party giving him verbal felatio and writing big checks. He blows it every time.
Ok, so Town Hall meetings are out too.
We all know what the problemo is here, don’t we? There are no teleprompters at debates. There are no scripts carefully crafted by well-paid writers. There are moderators–people who actually ask questions and expect you to answer them impromtpu with the cameras rolling and recording! This leaves plenty of room for Barack to up his “Uhhhhhhhhh” and “Ahhhhhhhhhh” counts. But most of all, it forces Mr. Obama to answer questions he might not want to answer–or can’t answer without help from his Axelrod Peanut Gallery.
If you recall, in his debates with Hillary Clinton, the first question nearly always went to Hillary by some astoundingly coincidental defiance of the laws of probability. This gave Barack a chance to listen to somebody who actually knew something and then hop into the discussion using her points and platform comments. He’s a lot like the guy who sat behind you in 8th grade and copied your test answers.
It was no secret then and it’s no secret now. Without a script, Barack Obama has No Plan. He also cannot think on his feet. When forced to think on his feet or answer hard questions with some actual details expected, he gets prissy and snippy. Just ask Katie when she asked him point blank to admit he was wrong about the Iraq surge. Or ask Dana Milbank whose head rolled from Sweetie Keith’s show after writing this piece discussing how obviously arrogant and presumptuous everybody knows Obama is.
The fact is, The One is afraid of being questioned, he is afraid of being criticized and he is REALLY afraid of debating. It’s called a Phobia.
He has always feared debates, but it became a phobia ever since ABC rattled him about **Bill Ayers. Then they pointed out that he was lying about his gun control stance, producing his signature that he said wasn’t his signature. Then there was the flag pin question, followed by Obama telling every middle class sucker in the country that he was going to double the taxes on their meager Capital Gains that already yield pissant rewards. (**Incidentally, Barack, Bill Ayers is still a question you are going to have to deal with, I’ll bet. I’ll just bet the Swift Boaters aren’t going to let Bill Ayers sneak by again).
There is no question about it: That last debate he participated in was a bad night for Barack Obama all the way around, expecially considering he hardly knew any answers to much of anything, including his own personal life. I mean, he actually said his kids when to school with Ayers’ fully grown adult children. It was a bad night for sure. And that’s when it happened. The Phobia.
I call Phobia on the man who wants to be the Leader of the Free World. Think of the ramifications of this problem for a President, folks. Go ahead, I’ll wait……..
Barack…..Sweetie….this is not good. You look more and more like a lightweight every day. Did you know that? You cannot be the President of the United States and be afraid to debate impromptu. I mean, what are your plans if by some freak of the draw you become President? Are you going to just tell everybody to shut up? Are you going to hide there in the White House over at your basketball court you want to build there? Are you going to sneak out the back door all the time? I know you have already mastered the art of blackballing reporters. Just ask the reporter from the New Yorker? How about a nice press blackout? I know Stalin or Lenin would think that was cool, and nobody attracts America’s left-over radical members of the Socialist, Communist, Leninist and Stalinist parties like you do.
Do the Town Hall Meeting in New Orleans, little spoiled Manchild. Or get the hell out of the kitchen, Sweetie.
Or maybe you can get Donna to do it for you!
Some things just don’t change, do they?
