A Twitter from ABC News

I get Jake Tapper’s Twitters & Facebook feeds. Here’s one from Karen Tumulty that he passed along just now:

“Jake Tapper RT @ktumulty coakley rally, set to start in five minutes in middle school gym, is 3/4 empty. they’ve pulled curtain across middle of gym.”

Somebody should have offered free hotdogs, beer, and autographs from Kurt Schilling. any Red Sox player, past or present, if there are any who support her.

  • Cindy

    Wow. Thanks, bronwyn.

  • Queenie

wow!! She would need Babe Ruth to give autographs now!

  • Bronwyn

Btw, the excuses are pouring in, again via Jake Tapper, who’s one of the few reporters I’ve always respected (oh, and barely know — he had me in his rolodex, and that’s why he posts on my Facebook page):

    (1)  Jake Tapper Dems say a big problem for Coakley is the gender gap in voting is not where it needs to be. (Women lean D, men R)

    (2)  Jake Tapper based on emails + blogs, closing argument for Dems in Mass. is some of Brown’s supporters are jerks.

    AND:

Jake Tapper Attn @bburton44 RT @AlexConant Prediction: Obama presser Wed. to mark 1/20/08 anniversary, real reason to spin MA election & own news cycle

  • I’m a Linda too

    Wow.

I guess we can’t be surprised if they only found a place that held 1100 for an Obama visit and they only managed…with all the hype and busses to pull in a max 3600 with Obama as the Headliner.

THIS IS A COMPLETE SCREAM, via National Review:

Kerry Warns of “Dangerous Atmosphere” Around Brown Rallies   [Daniel Foster]
Sen. John Kerry<img style=”display: inline !important; height: 10px; width: 10px; position: relative; top: 1px; left: 1px; float: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border: 0px solid #000000;” src=”http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif”/> (D., Mass.) thinks Scott Brown’s rallies in the Bay State are “reminiscent of the dangerous atmosphere of Sarah Palin’s 2008 campaign rallies,” theBoston Globe is reporting.
Kerry says Brown supporters have engaged in “bullying and intimidation tactics” in the past few days and suggests that some of them may even be from out of state. (Would the senator rather keep the race local?)…

This reminds me of that hilarious scene in “The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming!” when Alan Arkin yells: “Emerrrgency, emerrrgency…. Everybody to get from street!”

  • Peggy Sue

“Coakley rally, set to start in five minutes in middle school gym, is 3/4 empty. they’ve pulled curtain across middle of gym.”

And this is the part that makes me heartsick.  Did Coakley make considerable mistakes?  Absolutely.  Did she fold to the machine?  Yes.

But this is not the sort of humiliation that anyone wants or expects. And I really do not think that Martha Coakley is Public Enemy #1.

She’s been caught in a riptide and I suspect the Democratic Party will show her no mercy.

It is what it is, I guess.  But God, how completely, utterly humiliating.

Maybe, I’m just a big wuss. But I hate to see people crushed in the gears like this.

On the other hand, if I were a MA resident, I’d vote for Scott Brown.  So, I’m not even consistent. :-[

  • Jackarooty

This article by Joan Vennochi from The Boston Globe is so beyond biased that it’s laughable.
BIG BAD SCOTT BROWN…HIS SUPPORTERS ARE PICKING ON POOR LITTLE MARTHA!  WAH! WAH! WAH!

The skittish are coming…..The skittish are coming.

  • felizarte

I feel sad for Martha.  I hate to see anyone so humiliated.  But she could have maintained her independence after the primaries.  After all, no matter what, the Obama team had to support her.  But better that the people know soon enough that she would have caved in anyway if she got elected.

  • Patience

Thanks for this Bronwyn.  Very insightful.

I’ve noticed more and more the last few days that the MSM is in lockstep, bending over backwards to make sure the POTUS gets absolutely none of the blame if Coakley loses.  Looks like even Jake Tapper may be playing along.  It was the theme on The Daily Show tonight as well.  None of them want to give Brown any credit whatsoever for tapping into a general and widespread anger about the direction this administration has taken the country.  In spite of Coakley’s gaffes, they conveniently fail to mention she’s made it clear she would support the POTUS’ agenda.

This is dangerous, disingenuous denial.  The POTUS, Congress and Senate, and MSM indulge in this fantasy at their peril.

  • Patience

    “own news cycle”.  As if.

  • Bronwyn

Thankfully, the only people who’ll believe that tripe are the hardcore lefties, HuffyPoops, Kossacks, et al.  The average American has no interest in their excuses, and blames it on Obama’s poor handling of the economy and jobs, jobs, jobs.  And the constant stream of news stories on the health care machinations have also surely turned off average people — any plan that requires so much infighting and compromise has to be a mess, and indeed it is.

  • Patience

“own news cycle”.  As if.  Don’t these folks know the POTUS is grossly overexposed?  People tune him out anymore – even my Obot husband (who’s still in support).  So if he owns the news cycle Wednesday, hardly anyone will be paying him any attention – everyone will want to hear about Brown if he wins.

  • annienyc

Agree, it’s really sad. Coakley has to take the blame because the Ohole has to save face. I campaigned for one reason, to kill the bill. But i like coakley a little bit. It was a sad choice to have to make.

  • Patience

One years worth what achievements exactly? That one is more difficult to spin than a potential upset in MA. With this POTUS, when he says, “The buck stops with me…,”  I instead hear him reciting the rules for “Spin the Bottle”.

Also, I would love to put a “citizens” camera on K street come Wednesday to watch who runs down from the Hill, “walking” as if the last meeting they took was with the bulls of Shawshank. And they were donating cash.

    Kerry Warns of “Dangerous Atmosphere”…

The sky is falling? Or is he talking about how many carbon credits offsets he needs daily?

WOW! Kerry gave my email to BO Industries Inc after withdrawing from the primaries. Thanks for that you idiot. I have since come to wonder if way back then Ted Kennedy told Kerry to spring his mailing list to BO…And still he got his but kicked…Ted seeing that he was not getting it done jammed Hillary.
What people seem to forget is Bill Hillay’s past with Patick Moyneham…

    This from “The Hill

The president and Democratic leaders must reach an agreement, receive a cost analysis from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and give lawmakers and the public 72 hours to review the final language. Finally, they must pass the bill through the House and wade through the final Republican procedural objections in the Senate before clearing the bill to President Barack Obama.

This would be complicated enough in normal circumstances, but if Brown wins, they would have to do it within a span of seven to 15 days.

hey even the Irish bookie Paddy has already paid out to the people who bet on Scott Brown…..

I’m sorry you have an obot husband =-O

    I don’t know what I would do if mine was…….. :-D

  • Tex-Mex

OMFG how stupid is that john kerry?  and not to mention so f*cking hilariously pathetic on your sorry end.  Your next buddy!!

  • FranSC

I agree, Peggy Sue.  It is a shame that MC got caught up in this whole entitlement myth and forgot she had to win this race.  It reminds me a great deal of Caroline Kennedy’s decision to allow NY to bestow upon her Hillary’s Senate seat after she helped her uncle cripple Hillary’s campaign for POTUS.  She sure learned a harsh, humiliating lesson as well.  She and MC must have had the same advisors.

Having said that, even if Coakley had been a great candidate, there was this under current that no democrat joined at the hip with 0bama, pelosi, and Reid could have survived – similar to the Sept. 15, 2008 meltdown of the financial institutions creating the easy win for this thug who is now POTUS.

  • Tex-Mex

I feel sorry for Martha Coakley.  As some commentator mentioned,  Its really not her fault.  Its the perfect storm and she is caught up in it.

However she became part of the Borg and that is the price she may pay tomorrow……

    too bad!

  • Docelder

Dangerous Atmosphere – When voters know that the senate seat belongs to them. When Kerry talks, I feel a little better knowing we could have done even worse than we have with a President.

Another interesting run down concerning Senator Snowe and the nexy moves on richcare

  • FranSC

When are these politicians going to learn that 0bama gets votes from a very narrow group, primarily, AAs, the 18-34 year olds, and the far-left dems that are a minority group.

But this coalition does not work for anyone else that tries to attach him/herself to B0.  In fact, B0 is toxic to any other politician these days.

  • Cathy in Ks.

A part of me feels sorry for Coakley but not “that sorry”.  I feel more sorry for the people of Massachusetts who already have health care and would be paying twice if Martha Coakley is elected.  If Martha really cared about the ordinary citizens of Massachusetts, she would never have had Obama come to Massachusetts and campaign for her.  Or she would have immediately disavowed his joke about Brown campaigning in his pick-up and that anyone can get a pick-up.  How out of touch is that?  With that lame reference Obama just handed over a lot more votes to Brown.  There is an old saying that “pride goeth before a fall” and I think when Coakley cast her lot with the arrogance of Obama and the democratic leadership in congress, she’s now reaping the consequences.

More and more people have wised up. They know the media is lying. The main reason they know, in my opinion, is that the news channels keep a flow of happy talk going while the economy is in the shitter and people don’t have jobs.

  • sarainitaly

Remember the smoke and mirrors used during Obama’s campaign?

I too don’t like the MC bashing.  It reminds me of the way HRC was treated.

Personally, I don’t like the Ted Kennedy bashing, either.  He’s dead, fer god’s sake.  I think dead people deserve to be treated with a certain amount of dignity. (except for  extreme evil-doers like Hitler).

    But that’s just me.

Having siad that, I’m thrilled to death (LOL) that the TK seat looks like it will slip out of the dim hands and destroy the 60 vote senate filibuster proof majority.

  • wyntre

    1000% right!

  • Mary cusack

no i kinda feel bad for the woman too. I voted brown.

  • Mary cusack

Um he’s even losing young voters. My niece and nephew voted for brown.  TJ 22  Dee 19 going on 20

People without jobs get tense and cranky,
    Politicans respond with hanky-panky.
Across the land there is discontent,
For our last dollar has now been spent.
    Every day brings another tax,
Our national security is still lax.
    Protest marches go unheeded,
So the elitists should be defeated!

  • TiredOfSufferingFoolsGladly

You would pray every day that the spell would wear off and someone would return your real husband to you, as I do! :)
