    is it working?

  • arabella trefoil

I thought that they weren’t doing any exit polls. Is that true?

  • Daisy Mae

Yes, I read that in several places, e.g. no exit polls.

    Evan Bayh:

“There’s going to be a tendency on the part of our people to be in denial about all this,” Bayh told ABC News, but “if you lose Massachusetts and that’s not a wake-up call, there’s no hope of waking up.”…
“The only we are able to govern successfully in this country is by liberals and progressives making common cause with independents and moderates,” Bayh said. “Whenever you have just the furthest left elements of the Dem party attempting to impose their will on the rest of the country — that’s not going to work too well.”

Dem GOTV picking up Brown supporters

A Democratic operative familiar with the get-out-the-vote push by Martha Coakley’s team and boosted late in the game by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, says that outreach workers in and around Boston have been stunned by the number of Democrats and Obama supporters who are waving them off, saying they’ll vote for Scott Brown.
    http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/0110/Dem_GOTV_picking_up_Brown_supporters.html

  • sarainitaly

yea, they don’t want proof that Brown really won when they rig the election. hahah

  • getfitnow
  • arabella trefoil

Oh. Oooo. It’s the liberals’ fault. Or should I say the far left’s fault.

Obama is not to blame, then right?

  • sowsear

I heard that Rasmussen was coming in ,at his own expense, to do polls

  • Peggy Sue

Surprising but no exit polls.  I imagine the results will come flooding in after the 8 pm close.

Btw, I agree with Bayh’s comments.

I just listened to Bret Baier’s panel.  Prediction?  Scott Brown all around.

  • Nellie

    Finally some Wisdom.

    How? With an abacus?

  • getfitnow

This is too cute and ironic:

At the time of his famous ride, Paul Revere did not own a horse. He lived in the city and did not usually need one. He had apparently owned a horse earlier, but its name was never recorded anywhere.
For his famous ride, he borrowed a horse from a man named Samuel Larkin. There is no written record of the horse’s name anywhere in any known records. However according to the Larken family history, published in 1930, the horse’s name was “Brown Beauty.”

LOL, Sara – you are too funny.  Oh, wait – that’s probably TRUE!!

I understand that it is fairly easy to commit voter fraud in MA (ask Ed Schultz) because they don’t check IDs or anything.  Great!  Anyone see any ACORN buses rolling in??

  • PortiaElizabeth

The Globe could not call it with a two-headed nickel.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Ohmygosh – what is WRONG with these people?  Not for nothing, but this whole election is dirty pool given they changed their own law to make this happen int he FIRST place.  Wouldn’t it be just desserts for them to lose it??

  • getfitnow
  • jbjd

PS, the meme was, the race was so ‘in the bag’ for Coakley that, no exit polling had been planned.  When the race became sufficiently close to warrant polling, pollsters claimed, reliable polling could not be implemented in time.

I returned from the polls about an hour ago.  For a special election, it appeared to me, there was a steady stream of voters.

Too bad MA is not an applicable state for citizen complaints of election fraud to the state AG.  Because after MC loses this election, I would imagine, her hearing (what the electorate has been saying) will improve.

  • HARP

Must be in a hurry to get to Scott Brown`s party.   ;)

Absentee ballots in Massachusetts on election day?

A woman in Lawrence, MA, is carrying around blank absentee ballots in Spanish today. She explains to the bloggers who took the video how she’s telling people to mark Martha Coakley’s name. The woman handing out the ballots identifies herself as “Isabel Melendez” and says she has a talk show in which she promoted Coakley’s candidacy. from michelle malkin

I am somewhat suspicious that there isn;t going to be any exist polling.  Is this so that they can announce whatever results they want and no one can claim any significant conflict with polling results?

Sorry to be so cynical.  But I trust nothing at this point.

  • Ani

Oops — that should read no EXIT polling.

  • getfitnow

    Is he serious?

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) on Tuesday said that angst voters have expressed early this election year is the result of GOP obstructionism, not the Democrats agenda…

  • arabella trefoil

No, I think it was laziness + cheapness. They all thought Marcia would win by a huge margin.

i love that Dems try to diss Brown because of his Cosmo spread, but yet they welcomed this tool with open arms:

  • getfitnow

    From WSJ:

Mr. Brown’s surge was so sudden that many of the usual accoutrements of closely-contested elections are missing in the Bay State.
One is exit polls. There will be none tonight from Massachusetts, disappointing journalists and political scientists alike. As Mike Allen of Politico.com reports, the consortium of news outlets that normally organizes such surveys didn’t bother when the race was expected to be a blowout and now “wasn’t confident a reliable system could be built so fast.”
Another casualty of the expectation that the race would be a cakewalk for the Democrat will be an absence of absentee ballot fraud, the preferred method of putting an illegal thumb on the scale in a close race. Applications for absentee ballots had to be submitted by last Friday, providing little opportunity for those with ill intent to organize such an effort once they realized the race had tightened up.

  • getfitnow

    Ha! :-D

  • oowawa

They should conduct “Exist Polling” to determine how many dead have voted . . .

  • sarainitaly

I can’t believe the Left tries to diss Brown because of his Cosmo spread, but they welcomed Franken with open arms.

  • Ani

Hoyer is working the koolaid big time.  He is also pretending he does not know that Republicans offered 30 different health care proposals, the wonderful Paul Ryan offered a number of sensible economic proposals (i’m sure there were others).  But the second day after inauguration Pr. Obama said to the Republicans “I won” and that was that.

Wow — those Repubs sure are obstructionists.  Along with the rest of us “teabaggers” who would rather not spend money we don’t have.

  • sarainitaly

    ewe

  • arabella trefoil

What else is he going to say?

Wait a minute, MA elects a Republican for Senator. Which means by Hoyers’s reasoning, that  the angst-ridden voters desire more obstructionism …

Actually, could be true. If electing more Republicans obstructs Obama’s nutty plans, that may be exactly what voters want.

A stopped clock is right twice a day.

Martha Coakley’s Campaign Can’t Seem to Follow the Law and Let The People Decide

    by Mark Polege
    Keyboard Militia

These photos, courtesy of Election Journal, shows numerous examples of the Martha Coakley campaign and their lack of recognition of election laws in their illegal attempt to influence voters in today’s special election in Massachusetts. I am sure this would already be frontpage news and all over the networks if those signs said “Scott Brown.”

Last September, some D’s in the MA legislature voted against passage of the bill that now allows the Governor to appoint a U.S. Senator to fill the seat vacated by Mr. Kennedy, seeing it as political and not consistent with democracy. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/09/23/senate_oks_kennedy_successor_bill/?page=2

(As you know, before this bill, there would have been a special election to fill the vacant seat.  And that bill was pushed through when it looked like John Kerry would be elected POTUS and lose his Senate seat; and Governor Romney (R) would have appointed a Senator, which the D’s assumed would be a R; and they did not like that idea.)

  • sarainitaly

Hanging in.  We’re having mega thunder/rain storm.  My lights are flickering but haven’t gone out.  I’m going to be really P. O’ed if I have to resort to the radio.

I’m trying to stay in neutral regardless of all the good reports…followed by voter fraud reports…followed by Brown ahead by 9, etc., etc.  What a roller coaster.  I heard someone on the car radio today say if Scott comes in at 52%, the Dims will try to challenge the results.  I’m hoping it is a landslide and way beyond any quibbiling.

  • AnnieCarmel

I was listening to a conservative radio program on the way to town earlier and a former reporter of the Boston Herald said that the Black Panthers posted on their website that they are in MA.  He also said that he goes mid-morning to vote trying to avoid crowds but that today his polling place was mobbed; had never seen so many people.  They think a heavy turn-out favors Scott.

I just took a spin across Kos and DU land.  Moods are pretty grim.  Caught one poster from MA who said the word on the street is Brown up 10.

    We’ll see.

I understand that the mood is very subdued at Martha Coakley’s HQ.  Oh, and the charges of voter irregularites from the Coakley camp have been tossed.

    Should get interesting very soon!

  • PortiaElizabeth

Democratic map makers must’ve put up those signs. You know, the ones who say 1 inch = 1 mile.

  • arabella trefoil

No matter what the results are, it was worth it to see a really pissed off Obama dragging his lazy ass to a half empty room to give a pep talk for Marcia. I’ve never seen him so close to losing it.

And because it was Michelle’s birthday, I’ll bet he got all kinds of grief for going to Boston. He took her out to dinner though.

  • Nellie

True. Scott’s base appears to be the Suburban areas and small towns, not the inner cities.

  • creeper

I read on (cough, cough) HuffPo that there are no exit polls because no one expected this race to be a contest.  Hence, no plans were made.

Well, if I were into cheesecake, I’d take the one on the right. (on the right, get it?)

  • Nellie

Sara, In your last comment you linked to Hot Air which explined and showed Kerry’s Playbook.

Here is the Boston Herlad’s article and they provide detail on ho they grilled Sec. of State William Galvin, long time inside member of Boston Dem Machine. In the Herald article he waffles and gives the excuse the video was taken yesterday, Januraty 18th. That makes no difference since the deadline for Absentee Ballots was close of town offices on Friday, January 15th.

The whole thing is wortha read just for the irony and sneakiness of what Dems are trying to do.

That’s OK, oowawa. You didn’t count on 69,000,000 children left behind or those up on the wrong side of bed, in their cups, or released from the local sanitarium actually voting that day.

  • Kathleen Wynne

    Ani,

Exit polls can be manipulated too.  The only way to have raised the chances for a “fair and honest” election is to count the votes by hand at the precinct, not allowing the ballots to leave the precinct room, with party observers and citizens overseeing the counting; then post the results for all to see and document.

Frankly, I think it would be very risky for the dems to try something fishy in this particular race, because Brown’s camp has already raised the red flag that they feared vote tampering by the dems.

It will be interesting to see what the divide will be in the final votes for Coakley and Brown.

  • sowsear

Franken’s guy is now in MA, hoping to fix things up (find some ballots) for Coakley.

  • Binky

“Keith Olbermann, also on MSNBC, went after Brown personally, calling him “an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees.””

    Brown should sue the bastard!

  • candymarl

What is it that the Democrats don’t get? People are scared and angry. I’ve seen the videos online. Not every protest was by far right Republicans. Not all of the people attending were WASPs.

Yet the current administration/Congress/Senate keeps asking “Who are you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes?”  They also seem to be saying if you believe what you see then that’s racism.

If Brown wins or loses Jon Stewart has a point. The Democrats have a larger majority than GWB ever had but did what he wanted. The Democrats claim that one Senate seat totally disempowers them. That’s not only stupid it’s an insult to our intelligence.

    Good grief.

Okay.  Olbermann really needs to lose his job after this.  How can anyone on a news channel, even a pundit dare to talk about possibly the next Senator from the state of Massachusetts this way.  Then again, he said “a super delegate needs to take Hillary into a room and only he comes out” and basically had no repercussion for that.

Here is a problem reported by a viewer to the Boston news station

“There were major logistical problems with traffic in the town of Tewksbury due to a major change for the main voting location for the town. A usual 5 minute drive took nearly in hour of gridlock traffic. Some people were turning around and probably giving up their vote. There was a lack of parking causing people to park on the opposite side of busy, snow covered route 38. I truly hope as many people could vote that wanted to. The need to make change for next election.”

Stevo..Hitler was a fascist. His political party was the National Socialist Party, but the program was fascist. He wasn’t a founding member of the Party, later propaganda notwithstanding. He took it over as a ready-made vehicle for his own ideas, which had nothing to do with socialism. Go read a history book. You will like it, history is interesting.

Brown will be a lame duck.

If he goes too far right he will lose in 2010. If he goes too far left, he will be ostracized by the Republican party, as they long kicked out all the moderates.

It is funny. The Republicans ran on a reasonably moderate platform in MASS, NY and Virginia and won. They ran on an extreme Palin tea bagging platform in NY23 and lost. That is the biggest lesson from this election.

I place as much credence in your prediction that Brown will be a “lame duck” as is did in your prediction that Coakley would win.

The biggest lesson from this election is that voters are sick to death of the way Dems are running the country.

He is also starting off actually keeping his word about his strong awareness of his constituents suffering from the “recoverning non-Depression” we are in finacially.

    Per the Boston Herald:

“He (Scott) told Herald columnist Margery Eagan on WTKK (96.9-FM) he’s operating on four and a half hours sleep and is already looking for housing in Washington, D.C.”

“I’m looking into military housing,” he said. “An officer can get a billet for 20, 30 bucks a day.”

That is a far cry from the cost of the palatial housing  “Teh One” and Congress use while bilking taxpayer dollars. No idea of how long the Military Housing will last. But at least he is starting off on the right foot.

You know, Rev Amy, one of the main reasons I stopped spending much time on NQ was how depressing I found it to see intelligent people like you make ridiculous statements like this. If you have read even a little about ACORN, you know that there is not a single documented instance of ACORN ever committing any kind of actual Election Day fraud. A few freelance, paid-by-ACORN volunteers tried to pad their voter registration lists with idiotic names like Fred Flintstone. ACORN immediately eliminated all such ridiculous voter names. In no instance did anyone ever try to cast an actual vote of this kind. Why do you feel the need to make such absurd statements when you surely know better? And for that matter, what on Earth did Ed Schultz say that makes you think it has anything to do with actual MA voter fraud?

Here’s some kleenex, little bot.   Don’t let the tears rust blow your keyboard.

Now, explain away all those pending lawsuits against ACORN…

  • sarainitaly

@jtLOL. @IMAO_ Somebody needs to send a case or two of Lipton’s over to MSNBC.

HAHAHAHAH these tweets are killing me!

  • Ferd Berfle

A democrat/horse walks into the bar. The bartender asks, “Why the long face?”

    Too bad, Obamabots.

  • candymarl

Well, well, well. I wonder if they’re finally listening NOW.

  • Binky

    I love it!

  • Ferd Berfle

Now Sissy Chrissy Matthews is spinning the results to suit his need to service his tingly-leg Jones. Gee, Chris, get some help or a hotel room.

  • AnnieCarmel

Watching Hannity.  Is Willie Brown high?  He usually makes sense; tonight he sounds like he’s visited one of thos medicinal Marijuana clinics.  He’s way off.

  • arabella trefoil

What is this strange feeling I have right now? Like I’m on a cloud and all the stars are dancing in the sky ….

Is this the “victory” feeling I’ve heard about?

I can’t fucking believe that Brown pulled this off.

  • AnnieCarmel

    You betcha.

  • Patience

LOL!!!  Loved that headline!  Thanks for the link!

I can stop holding my breath at last.  Whew.  Such a fantastic victory for Brown!

I read tonight that MA had the 3rd-longest string of solid Democratic senators, after WV and HI.  This is huge!

Pundits are stating the obvious (at best).  What a bunch of bloviating blatherers.  MSNBC has ranged from funereal to perverse tonight.  One of their venues, Doyle’s Pub (?) in Boston, looks like it’s holding a wake.

  • My other site

    TAke that, Rahm!

  • Blue Moon

I read Senator Brown will be driving his pickup truck into Washington DC Friday.  He needs to bring along the GREAT people of Mass. to escort him into Washington.  Wouldn’t that be a perfect shot across the bow?

Thank you great people of Mass.  We will do the same for you come November.

The work is not done yet.  Let’s move forward (and keep an eye out as Nancy and Harry and “The One” are probably in a special meeting right now trying to pass health care).

  • oowawa

Yep arabella, it’s that “victory” thing we’ve heard about!  Now I’m going to play the old Tom Petty song: “Even the losers get lucky sometimes . . . “  But maybe it’s more than luck.  Maybe America really is changing!

  • arabella trefoil

Ah, oowawa. I do think America is really changing. We have a lot of work cut out for us, but right now let’s be happy!

  • AnnieCarmel

Sarah’s message  “Mr. Brown Goes to Washington…in a pick up truck no less.”

Caught that too while peeking in at the end of the show and was surprised.

Normally he is almost pitch perfect with anything he says.

  • arabella trefoil

    Fabulous. Who’s the dead body?

  • PortiaElizabeth

Seriously, this is the first time in two years I’ve donated to a winning candidate. My husband says I should quit while I’m ahead.

  • Patience

    Maybe a mass grave?

  • AnnieCarmel

    LOL!

  • AnnieCarmel

The Hillbuzz boyz deserve a lot of applause for this too.  They were unrelenting and reatlly supported Scott’s Money Bomb.  They’ve been threatened this past week for their huge support of Scott.  They got me going to send money to the campaign and now I’m going to support them as well.

  • Prime Obot

Link me to one “pending lawsuit” that alleges actual illegal votes cast. Just one. Show me one.

Amy, this is the last time I’ll say this, because I really am finished with this hideous site: but you should be ashamed of yourself. Writing with glee about the election of a hardcore right-wing Republican who believes women who’ve been raped should be turned away from hospitals who don’t want to do abortions is just the lowest of the low. And you find yourself cracking jokes about this terrible result. You need to look in the mirror. Seriously. I am finished. You are all awful.

  • beachnan

Guess there were more PUMAs than they thought.

  • oowawa

Just listened to Brown’s victory speech.  This guy is really going to be a star.

  • jbjd

Based on today’s numbers, Barney Frank’s district is quite safe in 2012.

  • Required Reading

No teleprompter, no fake platitudes, no bull.  This kind of real talk from the new Senator from Massachusetts means pink slips for Rachel Madcow and Keith Olberhisheadmann, who spew nothing but paranoid lies. What a night; I forgot what it was like to think the right person won. Wow.

  • Mary cusack

awesome speech.   that’s ulifting not mr  unicorn

  • Onofre’s arm

Bye bye botfly. You’ll be as deeply missed as a subcutaneous parasite can be.

  • Docelder

We have had enough historical hype for a long time. Ever since historical Nancy, it has been like a bobsled ride to hell. Real people is what we need in Washington. Real people would never do to us what career politicians have done.

  • Docelder

You never know, somebody homegrown to there could rise up and reclaim the seat for the people.
