Barack Obama and His Ship of Fools

So David Plouffe, campaign manager extraordinaire, is back at the White House to perform some miracle act of rescue for the sinking Obama Presidency. This event encapsulates what is wrong with Obama and his Presidency. And it also is a stark reminder that these boneheads simply do not understand the pickle they are in.

Obama and the morons who surround him and enable him in the White House have failed to realize that they are no longer campaigning. They must govern. They must lead. And those are skills Obama has never developed.

The incompetence of the Obama staff, at least in the governing mode, is staggering. Look at what they did today.

David Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett and Robert Gibbs hit the airwaves today to insist health care had not hurt them in Massachusetts and that Obama has done wonders for the economy. Problem? These stupid nimrods did not have a coordinated message. They were just making “facts” up out of thin air. The Politico had the story and noted the different messages:

Axelrod, on CNN’s State of the Union: “But understand that, in this recession that began at the beginning of 2007, we’ve lost 7 million jobs. Now, the Recovery Act the president passed has created more than — or saved more than 2 million jobs. But against 7 million, you know, that — that is — it is cold comfort to those who still are looking.”

Jarrett, on NBC’s Meet the Press: “The Recovery Act saved thousands and thousands of jobs. There are schoolteachers and firemen and— and— teachers all across our country, policemen, who have jobs today because of that recovery act. We’re investing in infrastructure. We’re investing in public education so that our kids can compete going forth into the next— generation.”

Gibbs, on “Fox News Sunday”: “Well, Chris, let’s take for instance the example you just used of the stimulus package. We had four quarters of economic regression in terms of growth, right? Just last quarter, we finally saw the first positive economic job growth in more than a year. Largely as a result of the recovery plan that’s put money back into our economy, that saved or created 1.5 million jobs.”

Then they compound the error by whining about the terrible economy they inherited. Blaming Bush, rightly so, for running up a one trillion plus deficit. So what is the prescription of Barack Obama for the sagging economy? He quadruples the deficit. See, Barack and his band of buffoons want you to believe that a deficit by a Republican President is awful and damaging to the economy but, when a Democrat does four times more of a deficit than Chimpy McBush then it is economic genius.

A then they wet themselves because they only have 59 votes and those goddamn Republicans are stifling all legislative progress. Let’s ignore the fact that Republicans got a lot more done (much of it bad) with a much smaller majority. I guess Mr. Axelrod and his team of idiots think it is useful to portray Democrats as a bunch of hapless clowns.

The bloom is definitely off of the rose. Barack got hammered today from all sides. David Michael Green tears him a new asshole. Here’s my favorite from his rant:

Barack Obama has now, in just a year’s time, become the single most inept president perhaps in all of American history, and certainly in my lifetime. Never has so much political advantage been pissed away so rapidly, and what’s more in the context of so much national urgency and crisis. It’s astonishing, really, to contemplate how much has been lost in a single year.

Michael Goodwin then conjures up the image of Barack Obama as the Cowardly Lyin (aka Lion).

We the people of the United States owe Scott Brown’s sup porters a huge debt of gratitude. They didn’t merely elect a senator. They ripped the façade off the Obama presidency.

Just as Dorothy and Toto exposed the ordinary man behind the curtain in “The Wizard of Oz,” the voters in Massachusetts revealed that, in this White House, there is no there there.

It’s all smoke and mirrors, bells and whistles, held together with glib talk, Chicago politics and an audacious sense of entitlement.
At the center is a young and talented celebrity whose worldview, we now know, is an incoherent jumble of poses and big-government instincts. His self-aggrandizing ambition exceeds his ability by so much that he is making a mess of everything he touches.

Barack will continue to fail and will continue to be clueless. Why? He lacks a core belief and vision. Ronald Reagan really did believe that America was destined for greatness. He offered a positive vision that resonated among the American people. That’s why he was re-elected and regularly kicked the ass of the party of the Jackass err, I mean, Donkey. Obama does not have that quality or character. He is a liberal Avatar. A fake character. But we knew that early on, which is why we tried to persuade American voters to reject him knowing that this day would come. Who knew it would come so soon?

    =-O   Yeaaaaaaaa Ship of FOOLS

  • Always Learning

He will be in full campaign mode for the State of the Union on Wednesday night, attempting to reinvent himself. Applause, applause, applause. It will be hard to watch.

  • Daisy Mae

My personal favorite this week was OblahPotus taking TOTUS to an elementary school for a speech.

  • elaine

Wonder what gives with Obama’s friendship with Robert Wolf of U.B.S. Wolf hustlers so much $$$$$$$$ for Obama on Wall Street & UBS seemed so willing to fork over their client list with $$$$$$ in Swiss accounts. What is really going on? Buffet & Soros on board with Obama & we’re suppose to believe the main agenda is helping the poor. Is any big $$$$$$ backing the middle class? It’s all so strange.

  • Obamastolemycountry

I cannot say, “I told you so” because it just makes me really sad.  These dumbass kool aid slurpers and their usurpers had to go and screw it up for the rest of us who cared enough to “look under the hood”.  We saw how dirty it was under their and that we would be getting a clunker if we bought the POS.  I really, really hate uninformed voters!!!!!!!

What I will say to them is, “Ok, so you got Barack Who’s Lame Obama elected.  Now, what are you going to do about it???”

Spot on, Larry. So, now our problen is how to survive the next three years (unless he is impeached or resigns) and how to persude the idiot generation to THINK before they vote for the ‘kewl’ guy again… not an easy task

  • nobody

Yep, I didn’t think this day would come so quickly.

I saw a clip of Jarrett saying something about Bin Laden, terrorism, and national security. What the hell does she know about these topics and why are these political people (fools) going on these shows instead of subject experts?

  • Anonymous

    “He is a liberal Avatar.”

Avatar — yes … brilliant metaphor! — but whose avatar we have yet to see.  My guess it’s Soros et al and other corporatist forces (also behind the GWB regime).

  • Binky

I remember thinking when I first saw the report of the # of jobs saved because the stimulus was used to give pay raises.  They really think we’re stupid:  In this economy, employees will quit their jobs if they don’t get a pay raise????  Give me a break!

  • Anonymous

Yes, this is why it would be great if everyone in support of MA and in protest of The One boycotted — i.e. by turning  off their TVs — when He gives the scheduled address.

  • Peggy Sue

For those of us who thought the press and pundits would never turn, the 180 these guys are doing should give them whiplash.  Daisy Mae cited Frank Rich.  We’ve heard from a depressed Mort Zuckerman, Paul Krugman and Bob Herbert came in with a NYT piece:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/23/opinion/23herbert.html

Of course, I would edit Herbert’s title ”They Just Don’t Get It” to “They Never Had It” because the Democratic leadership insisted on running Barack Obama when the majority of Democratic voters wanted Hillary Clinton.  They lied their eyeballs out, shouted down all protests and smugly declared themselves “winners.”

But then, I’ve been told I’m one of those bitter deadenders.

The man is proving himself to be all hat, no cattle.  And bringing back Plouffe only proves the Administration is scrambling to bring back the glory days.  Sadly, the season of weeping women, the “O” high sign and the mantra of Hopey Dopey change was a crock from the git-go.  But these guys bought into their own spin.

    Deadly.  For all of us.

You cannot fake leadership.  Apparently, they didn’t know that. Crocodile smiles don’t work either.  I’m waiting for a grand performance from TOTUS for the State of the Union Address.  It would all be funny, except it’s not.

I hope we survive another 3 years of the fancy footwork because it’s beginning to look like the Chicken Dance.

You cannot make this stuff up!

  • Ani

I have only seen that picture on one blog and I’m not familiar with it.  Has it been proved that it was genuine and not photshopped?  It would be great it the major news agencies got it.  (although doubtful they would publish).

  • beachnan

Great comment Peggy Sue.  I wonder how many times Nancy Pelosi will jump out of her seat to applaud the President during his State of the Union speech.  You guys will have to let me know, because I can’t stand to watch or hear this man speak or should I say lie to the American people again.

  • Nobama4me

I wonder if they are all waking-up on clue for the SOTU address so they’ll have built some shred of credibility when they’ll declare it “the greatest SOTU address evah!!” lol

Well, Larry says “the bloom is off the rose.”  That may be true, but we have all the materials for a wonderful Broadway musical here–perhaps it can be called “Ship of Fools.”  Here is one of the numbers that could be used: “The Day That Obamacare Died” (apologies if anyone has already posted this):

David Michael Green was really rolling with his rant.  He had me stomping and clapping clear through to the part where he started trashing Sarah Palin.

At heart, Green’s another hopeless liberal who sees everything as black or white.  (Is that r@cist?)  Urging Obama to turn to the left makes no sense when Americans, rightly or wrongly, already perceive him as far more liberal than they want.

Obama doesn’t need to turn to the left (or the right).  He needs to LEAD up the middle.

  • snosandy

But, before he’s impeached or resigns he needs to get rid of Biden and name Hillary as VP.

LJ, Axe can’t get his own shtick down, was quoted in the NYT as “saving or creating” 2 Million jobs. now you cite where he says 1.5 million.

They lost Massachusetts because no one is buying the “Saved” part of the meme and even a fool KNOW’s nothing on main street is being created but bullshit (aka hopey) and that doesn’t feed the family.

With plans of grandeur, at this first State of the Union speech, flailing with the inability to have passed the likes of Cap and Trade and Obama Care (just love that name) and Stimulus, about as popular as congress and with the Dems. in a state so well describe by above and in the noted link David Michael Green Obama’s plight kind of reminds me of a scene from Herman Wouk’s “War and Remembrance” (Netflex available). The music is depressing, its January 1943, Hitler is sitting alone in a chair by the fire petting his loyal German Shepard, Blondi, Stalingrad has fallen, Palus recently promoted to Field Marshal failed to kill himself as expected becoming the first German Field Marshal ever to be captured alive,  (Rommel never got to become #2),  Japan had been checked at Midway, and the loss of North Africa was inevitable. With the solemn music in the background, the narrator continues, from this point on all plans of  world conquest were over, from this point on Hitler could only fight to save his own butt!

Ah, so sad.  Rich says “what happened in Massachusetts will not stay in Massachusetts if this White House fails to reboot.”

Fails to reboot?  Might have a serious virus; a trojan horse might have snuck into the White House.   Might have to replace the whole operating system.

  • snosandy

How can they claim to have created or saved upwards of 2 million jobs when unemployment was not supposed to go over 8% with the stimulus, but is now 10% which is at least 20% higher than the 8% they said it would be.

beachnan, I’m sure Pelosi will be jumping up and down like a jack-in-the-box with the appropriate smile painted on.  She’s good at that.

But the pay-off for the week is the President speaking at that elementary school mentioned up thread.  I mean please!  Can this man speak at all without a teleprompter?  I’m beginning to wonder if Craig’s essay was more fact than fiction: the original Obamatron was Obama himself.

He may, in fact, have a big windup key between his shoulder blades.

The Obama White House reminds me of my first tryout with competitive b-ball. A decent athlete, but Football and Baseball were my games.

I took a pass 8 ft from the hoop and did a nice fake of going up for a shot. My defender went airborn to block.

Being a real novice at hoops, all I could do was watch the defender hang in the air, and land back in front of me.

He said, “Nice fake, too bad you didn’t know what to do with it.”

Same as the Obama White House. Nice fake out to get elected, Mr.President. Too bad you didn’t know what to do with it.

  • beachnan

    I like your thinking Steve1! :-D

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

If the DIMocrats continue their march off the cliff after what happened in MA, NJ and VA, even I could get elected in 2010.

  • bayareavoter

The article in the NYT today about bringing Plouffe back says:

The White House intends to send Mr. Obama out into the country considerably more in 2010 than during his first year in office, advisers said, to try to rekindle the relationship he developed with voters during his presidential campaign.

Are they kidding? He was elected to do a JOB; but the guy never works. He’s out on the road giving speeches after he spent 10 days in Hawaii and some time in Copenhagen and Cairo and….. The American people think if he stayed in the office and WORKED something might get done.

They are delusional if they think putting him out on the road will bring the magic back. IT’S OVER.

  • bayareavoter

Great. I love the pics juxtaposed with Bush Jr reading The Pet Goat….

  • Docelder

Yep, the Botox cheering section. The people around him during these speeches have a perpetually startled look to them. Except for Michelle of course. Maybe they could botox her frowny muscles?

  • Mark

Yes, we knew it all along that Obama was a farce.  And it did not take a genius to figure out that a guy who spent the last 20 years of his life in a Marxist Black Liberation Theology Cesspool devoted to Black Racism and Africa did not have his head on straight.  This information was available for anyone to evaluate.  I would not want this guy next to my kids let alone running the country.

This country has too man drones and a lamestream media that is completely worthless.

  • Daisy Mae

I have a Chicago opera musical in mind.  Rahm in a ballet Trocadero tutu, the nemesis pirouetting across the stage.  Axelrod a Hitlerish figure, as in Spring Time for Hitler and Germany.  Katisha, as played by Nancy Pelosi.  Anyway, you can see where I am going with this, music by Mozart and Gilbert & Sullivan, with a spice of Andrew Lloyd Weber.  Etc.

  • Cindy

One of your best commentaries, Larry. Thanks!

I couldn’t get through the first paragraph of Rich’s column this AM.  The same denial appeared in a left page editorial a day or two earlier in the NYT.  It has saddened me to see a newspaper I’ve loved for so long make such a fool of itself editorially.  It’s gotten so bad that I don’t even enjoy the features as much as I used to.  For what it costs to subscribe, I’ve been tempted to drop it.

  • timmy

It looks like Joe Biden wants out…. Anyone has a lead on this…???

  • Patience

It was always my belief that once ensconced in the presidency, it wouldn’t take too long for the cult to turn.  And while I’m enjoying the buyers’ remorse of late, I’m very worried about what kind of desperate measures could be employed in an attempt to resurrect (pun intended) the POTUS and get the country united and rallying for him once again.  I’ll leave it at that but feel free to read between the lines.

  • lauraks

He blanketed the airwaves 24/7 for  his  entire  first year. There was no escaping him! Are you kidding me he is so overexposed that people are  simply tuning him out. Kinda like my kids when they were little and they ignored me telling them to do something”blah blah blah Ginger”.

Early last year I made just the plain google box  what I saw after the yellow tulips when I turned on my computer. I just couldn’t stand looking at the man because I knew then and have been vindicated that he doesn’t possess what is needed to walk my dog much less lead the country.I mean how could he not get that people would freak out because they are seriously struggling while he is jet setting all over kingdom com, indeed living like a king, and finally just voting what he represents out!

  • Babs

Two words I will associate with this lame brain administration until the day I draw my last breath – “inherited” and “bipartisan”. Those two talking points have long passed their expiration date, and that all the Democratics pundits are still repeating them ad nauseum tells me they truly have underestimated the intelligence of most of the electorate. Hey, President Obama, you spent $600M to “inherit” what you got, suck it up.

  • jwrjr

An “Obama” virus would be one that causes your computer to display and print nothing but meaningless gibberish.

If Biden resigned to run for his old senate seat back, then Obama just picks a replacement that would need to be confirmed by a majority of the houise and senate. He could probably pick Oprah and the jackasses in the house and senate would just rubber stamp whatever. I still don’t think they get it, the majority of them anyway.

Bravo!  Brilliant assessement of all things obama.  While reading it, the clear picture your gave of the obama administration’s incompetece became so overwhelming sad and pathetic, that it went full circle, and became hysterically funny and I couldn’t stop laughing!  I don’t know why I was laughing (maybe because there wasn’t anything else for me to do, because I was laid off because of the “economic brilliance” of the obama administration over a year ago and I’m still looking for one of those jobs the obama supposedly saved!

Obama will never do that…it would be admitting Hillary should have had the nomination from the beginning. Biden can appoint Hillary VP after Obama resigns and then resign himself. But do not expect Obama to do anything but the most childish, self-serving thing possible. Resigning and blaming the voters for voting in people opposed to his “policies” is the most likely route. It’s never Obama’s fault, remember?

  • FLDemFem

411 speeches and over 140 interviews in his first year. I think that’s more than the previous two presidents combined gave in their entire two terms. And don’t forget Michelle’s constant presence on the cover of various magazines. You just can’t get away from the Obamas and people are starting to want to get away from them. Far away.

  • snosandy

Don’t forget transparency.  I feel ill whenever I hear one of his lackeys trying to convince the American people that’s what he’s all about.

  • FLDemFem

Someone should tell the Fool on the hill that when the country is turning against your policies, you don’t call in the campaign team to convince them otherwise, you call in the policy team to fix the flawed policies. And you don’t send political operatives, crooked ones, out to explain policy they know nothing about. That makes it obvious that your administration is clueless about governing. On second thought, let them go on, just like they are. Before long the entire country will be screaming for his impeachment and removal.

He ain’t gonna pick Oprah because Michelle hates Oprah. Oprah is upset because once the election was over she thought she’d be a frequent guest at the White House, sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom. She thought she’d be a top advisor.

Michelle froze Oprah out in a very dramatic way. Oprah showed up (with one of her staff) to interview First Lady Michelle and Michelle wouldn’t even look at Oprah. Oprah went to greet Michelle with a kiss and Michelle abruptly pushed her away and gave her a handshake. Throughout the interview, Michelle looked at the assistant and never made eye contact with Oprah.

    True story.

Nice fake out to get elected, Mr.President. Too bad you didn’t know what to do with it.

This reminds me of a strange schoolyard ritual: picture it, Coleman Elementary School, San Rafael CA, 1949-1952.  Every recess, the kids gather in the playground, and a few of the most popular males start marching around chanting “Who wants to be in my gang!?!?”  As they march and chant, they pump their thumbs back over their shoulder (as if hitchhiking), inviting others to form a ine behind them.  Gradually, children queue up behind the Self-Chosen Ones, until a long line of followers is snaking along through the playground marching after their particular Exalted Leader.  Although girls never initiated these lines, they did participate as followers.  Longest line wins–Most Popular of All!

This ritual went on for years.  I don’t know if it was ever practiced at other schools, but would like to know.  I guess the point is this: nothing ever came of it; there were no games, and the victor won nothing except His Popularity Contest.  It was like: Now What?  And that’s where we are at the present time: “Okay–You’re Thee One!  Most Popular Ever!  Now What?”

  • timmy

Perhaps this is part of their jobs creation program? If he is out on the road on his speech tour, he will no doubt need to fill the seats. Just like the Oscars, they will hire seat fillers – now there’s stimulus money put to good work. Feeding more money to the likes of ACORN and SEIU members.

I guess I should have mentioned that this ritual was practiced by the youngest children–grades K–3.  Thee One chanted “Who Wants to Be in My Gang” and managed to get 69,000,000 devoted followers marching in line behind him.  But the attention span of children is not great, and the bell is ringing, calling us in from recess . . .

Please add Joe Scarborough and Mike Huckabee to the bonehead hall of shame.  On Charlie Rose, Scarborough said that the Obama that campaigned in Iowa needed to emerge.  Barky really connected with the people…………he could do it again……give me a break??????

Huckabee made a prediction that the Scott Brown’s election would force Barky to pivot to the center…….and Lake Michigan will divide….

These two prove how much smarter the American people are than the politicians and media elite that spew this garbage.

Yeah, great idea. Send the Loser Boyfriend out to make more excuses.

“Some of your friends may tell you, forget about him. All he does is sleep on the couch all day, eat your food, talk on the phone and make promises he doesn’t keep.” Your friends say “He promised to get a job. He promised to pay his share. Well, Loser Boyfriend is very angry that he can’t pay his share. He started a task force to look for a job. It takes time to find a job. Loser Boyfriend can’t just wave a magic wand and get a job.”

I worry too because rule one in Obama’s playbook is “Divide and Conquer.” If he can’t baffle us with bullshit, he’ll figure out a way to divide the opposition.

Also, he’ll start scapegoating. That’s in his gamebook too.

Obama is a puppet. The people who pull his strings will fight like pit-bulls to turn his presidency around. No dirty trick is too low.

If only Scott Brown’s election would cause Obama to stop giving speeches ….

Those of us out here driving pickups are smiling after reading Larry’s accurate assessment of Obama:  “Obama does not have that quality or character. He is a liberal Avatar. A fake character.”

Scarborough is really out of touch if he honestly believes that all the American people need or want is to see Obama campaigning EVER MORE!

The White House intends to send Mr. Obama out into the country considerably more in 2010 than during his first year in office, advisers said,

I think there was a misprint here: “The White House intends to send Mr. Obama out to the country club considerably more in 2010 . . . “  But heck, what is the “White House” doing sending the President anywhere?  I thought the President was in charge and could go wherever he wanted . . . Or?!?!

I have one question for you Larry. How exactly did Obama quadruple the deficit, as you say above?

I suggest you look at this link.

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/28/2009.deficit/index.html

In July 2008 the Bush WH was predicting a $482 million budget deficit in 2009. That was before the significant further collapes in the economy in the fall of 2008 and 6 months before Obama even was in office or was even elected president.

    and then

    http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9957/01-07-Outlook.pdf

By January 2009 and before Obama even took office the CBO was saying the deficit was going to be $1.2 trillion in 2009. That was again before Obama was even in office. So how do you blame Obama for stuff that happened before his watch?

Obama not only inherited the economic mess, but also inherited the deficits. Where exactly is the proof that Obama is to blame for the deficits? Stimulus was the only major spending that Obama undertook, and many conservative economists were even saying it should be done to help stop the economic nose dive. The less than $800 billion stimulus that is 40% tax cuts will be over three years and maybe is responsible for 7% of the deficit in those years. The majority of the deficit, something like 40%, is from the recession and the corresponding decline in tax revenues. You above don’t blame Obama for the recession, but blame him for the deficit. That just does not make sense.

“White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said the stimulus package was necessary, even if it increased the deficit.”

The true is that the deficit took years to develop and will take years to unwind.

    See:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/10/business/economy/10leonhardt.html?hp

Now go ahead and call me a “moron”.

If only Plouffe had been aboard the Titanic on that fateful night, thousands of lives would’ve been saved.  Or at least they would’ve died thinking that they were about to be saved as the great ship sank into the icy waters of the Atlantic.
The country is going to shit and Obana brings in a campaign manager?  If there was any doubt that remained about him not getting it, this ends it.
Of course, Obama told Stephanopolous on Sunday that the real problem was that we didn’t get it.
If the Republicans take over the Senate and House in November, do you think that Obama will get it then?  Or will he still be clueless as he is escorted from the White House in January 2013?
Good God!  How did we ever elect this fool?

Great article Larry.  This is exactly what is wrong with the system in this country now.  These pols think if they just get the right advisor and campaign strategist, they can foist anything on the American people.  They never think maybe they should come up policies that work for Americans if they want our votes.

In the article in the second link, it mentions that Oprah was “planning to redecorate the Lincoln Bedroom”. Imagine the gall of that woman thinking she had the right to come in and redecorate rooms in a house she doesn’t own. Doesn’t she know that any redecoration of the official rooms, of which the Lincoln Bedroom is one, must be approved by the White House Curator?? Only the family quarters can be redone at the whim of the occupants, the rest of the house is a museum and is treated as such. At least it was by the previous tenants.

One good thing could come out of Obama’s going “on the road”, he could get booed. That would certainly bring home the mood of the country, especially if no one shouts down the booer. Is he coming to a venue near one of you? That would be a good time to go boo him, let him know how we really feel about his “administration”.

  • oowawa

Ah, memories . . . I suppose that instead of chanting “Who wants to be in my gang?!” the march leaders could have chanted “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!!”  But we were just little kids and weren’t that clever . . .

Whatever made-up number of jobs created or saved these bozos come up with it lacks any credibility since unemployment went from under 8% to a sustaining 10%+ under this disastrous administration.

Axelrod is also a liar. The current recession did not begin at the start of 2007, it started at the end in December, 2007:
    http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/01/news/economy/recession/index.htm

“He lacks a core belief and vision.”
I disagree. I strongly believe that Obama came to office with a very determined vision of instantly changing the United States into a European socialist society and economy. That is his core. That is what he was brought up with and mentored in. he was also raised to believe that he was better than anyone. I think he is perplexed that the rest of the country does not see things the way he does and refuses to accept that.
Instead he blames others and pushes forward with his own agenda because that is all he knows.
Bill Clinton had core beliefs but he was a very smart and practical politician and brilliantly triangulated with the GOP opposition to secure his presidency and his legacy.
Obama is too myopic to consider that.

Not sure if he is increasing it? I think he is trying to reduce it. Healthcare bill will reduce the deficit as per the CDO. I suspect going into back half of 2010 the focus will be on deficit reduction, as they say it will be.

Stimulus bill does not increase it that much at all.

What are the unnecessary programs again? Please let me know?

First of all that chart from the CBO is from March, when the economy was the deepest in tank, so with the pick-up in the economic growth we have had in the third and fourth quarter, I am sure the CBO estimates have changed. The big variable in the projections is economic growth. I think the CBO has a new estimate out tomorrow.

Second, in that article it also says Obama would come close to cutting the deficit he inherited in half over that period. Let me repeat.. “that he inherited“.

    From your article you quote:

“Although Obama would come close to meeting his goal of cutting in half the deficit he inherited by the end of his first term, the CBO predicts that deficits under his policies would exceed 4 percent of the overall economy over the next 10 years, a level White House budget director Peter R. Orszag yesterday acknowledged would “not be sustainable.” ”

No doubt about it. This country has gotten itself in a big deficit and debt problem over the last 8 years and Obama is going to have a hell of time trying to fix it over the next many years. I suggest we start by cutting the bloated defense budget that is still running at almost 1.5x pre 9-11 levels. The healthcare bill is also potentially a good start as the CBO says it will help to cut the deficit and debt.

dont think i can watch this fool give another of his “uhh,  ummm, uhhh, err. umm” speeches, where i am sure he will blame everyone but himself.   there is absolutely NOTHING he can say now that will make any difference now.  he’s already shown his true colors and they are neither black nor white. green (as in the color of money not energy) is the only color he is interested in.  so ill just  get the highlights  from FOX NEWS!!

So let me get this straight…Obama’s $800,000,000 stimulus package…is laughingly credited with saving 1,500,000 jobs. I’d like to know who’s jobs he has been saving! I want one of those jobs. That is enough money, to give those 1.5 mil a gift equal to the average US household income (from before the recession) for over 11 years!!! Here is something for you Obamatons to think about. The amount of taxpayer money he gave away to his corrupt contributors. Under the guise of that stimulus package. Would have been enough to completely pay tuition and fees to send 29,629,630 Americans to college for 4 years! Or enough to pay for private FAMILY health insurance for over 6,100,000 American families for the next 10 years!

If people would merely do the math and divide the stimulus money spent so far ($159,000,000,000) by the their number of jobs “created” or “saved” they wold be incensed and leave their homes with pitchforks to run all dems out of congress and send them packing.  Note:
$159,000,000,000/1,500,000 jobs = $1,060,000/job per year or $530,000 for 2 yeatrs or $106,000 for 10 years.  HOW MANY OF YOU ON THIS SITE MAKE THAT KIND OF MONEY?  This president and congress are insane.  The only thing shocking to them is that the average voting taxpayer has not done the math otherwise they would be too scared to publish these numbers.
Also saw that a community got a grant for $697,000 for 3 community policemen jobs.  That’s $233,333/job for one year, $116,666 for 2 years which is usually the maximum lifetime for these types of grants.
