Thank you Diane Sawyer. A picture is worth a thousand words and this clip of Obama speaks volumes.
You want to know why Barack Obama’s Presidency is going up in flames and crashing like the Hindenburg?
Watch this:
Here is what Obama does not get.
A leader takes on himself the problems and faults of others. A coward blames others and shirks responsibility.
A leader offers a vision and explains what sacrifices must be made to achieve the goal. A lost little boy struggles with a muddle of mush ideas.
Obama’s demonstrable incompetence is giving trainwrecks a bad name. We watched him throw his pastor of 20 years under the bus. Granny? Ditto. Now Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
Rats on a sinking ship know one key fact–save yourself because no one else will.

Yes, those many, many visits by the head of the SEIU to the White House – that, that, uh, uh , er wasn’t to visit ME, that was to visit Michelle and Bo. All those visit from the Pharmaceutical Industry and Insurance Execs – they didn’t visit ME – that was to Axelrove. All those visit by Bertha Lewis, well, they were visits to Valerie Jarrett. And those DEALS – I mean, MUSH, well CONGRESS did those, I didn’t!
I didn’t do anything, nothing, nada! Just playing golf and going on photo ops!

It’s Bush’s fault.. er, Harry.. um, Nancy.. no.. It’s your fault. You folks just don’t understand me. Why don’t you like me? Manny! They’re picking on me again – even that Larry guy won’t give me a quarter.

They’ve gotten their marching orders from the White House already. Out in full force already on the blogs in advance of the SOTU. Haven’t you noticed here??? Crawling out from under their rocks…..again.

And of course he NEVER looks anyone in the eyes when he is talking..I mean lieing. He either is looking down at the floor like this interview or has his nose so high in the air, and looks down at people bu he can’t look anyone in the eyes

Man, he’s got the Orwellian doublespeak down pat doesn’t he? I think he’s better than Bush. A big “mosh?” Healthcare is a big mosh? Oh, and it’s not his policy folks, it’s the process that’s a problem. Notice how combative he gets when she suggests he’s done something unsavory? Our money pays for whatever these “folks” in Washington do, so yes, the process should be on C-Span.
One last thing: Are his feet big enough? Bwahahaha!!!!

Great job on this Larry. This is OT: is anyone else following the story that the young man who visited the ACORN offices and filmed their corruption is now arrested and threatened with 10 yrs in prison? They’ve trumped up some story about him trying to bug that Louisiana senator’s office. Sounds like a set up to me to punish him for revealing what’s really going on at ACORN. This country is toast.
Docelder
The bots here are telegraphing what he is going to say. They are already “shaping” the message. He is going to blame the republicans in the senate. This means he has no intention of either leading or slowing down this radical “change”. It is the uncertainty of what he is doing that is destroying the economy. Nobody feels secure enough to expand, to hire anybody right now, to purchase new equipment or commit to anything with recurring payments. Nobody feels sure of tomorrow. This is all on Obama.
Patience
Whoa, nelly.
Maybe he’s going rogue.

Because he never ran anything before. Actually, he isn’t running things now. He hasn’t had the time to run anything between all the apologizing, speeches and vacations.

This is called Mind Farting.
He is unbelievably inept at defending himself and or his so called positions. Defensive and cowardly.
FLDemFem
He hasn’t been able to change the way Congress works..really? He wasn’t able to change it in the entire 143 days he was there? Then it must be Congress’ fault, can’t be his, he spent over 20 weeks trying! Well, he did when he wasn’t going to Kenya and running for President. But the Congress should have realized his intent and changed on their own. They didn’t, so it’s their fault. And there is transparency in the White House.. you can look in the window of the Oval Office and see the president tossing a football around with his aides. Or with his feet up on the desk in a hard-working pose. No other president has allowed the public to see him at the office in such a relaxed manner. Now that’s real transparency. Who cares who actually makes the policy and who the president has secret meetings with, as long as we can see these cool pics of him having a great time in the Oval Office.
And did you notice how Lincoln was gazing fondly down on him during the interview and how the camera panned back at an angle to give the best view of it?? If the bills in Congress were as well-crafted and thought out as the stagecraft of the White House, everyone would be happy.
Docelder
It is going to be all blame… except for the Nancy-in-the-box. I hope her ejector seat breaks before tomorrow night. Actually, I am sparing myself from it. I already know what it will be.

Obama is going to implode. He has gotten a lot of mileage out of the Blame George Bush strategy but i won’t hold for 8 years like he is dreaming of, and it won’t hold for 4 years like he hopes. Another Obama bonus is we can finally retire this myth of the educational elite. Just wait until we find out he was a “C” student through college and he got into Harvard and edited their Law Review. Students can graduate ivy league colleges and be bumbling idiots, or they can graduate state college and be geniuses. It depends a lot on the student, and not as much on the university as some would like to think. Obama wil be an embarrassment to Harvard.
Docelder
One of the bonuses of Obama is we can finally bust this myth of there being an “educational elite”. There are a lot of smart people that never went to Harvard and a growing number of jackasses that did.

He’s an absolute joke as POTUS. I am pissed off and, at the same time, embarrassed that the world can now say that we Americans are such stupid idiots that we had a Bush and now an Obummer.
But he is getting really close now to the “explosion.” He got really close when Sawyer called him on the deals. I thought for a second he was going to lose it. This has to be very hard for a narcissist to take–all this negativity pointing his way.

Very perceptive FlDemFem, about the stagecraft. And did you notice when Lincoln was gazing fondly down on him, and he was talking about how “it’s an ugly process, and it looks like there’s a bunch of backroom deals,” how Lincoln lost control and leaned over and vomited all over Thee One, and he splashed it onto Diane Sawyer when he was trying to shake it off and she screamed and then fainted face down sright into the pool of puke and then POTUS brushed off his suit and elevated his chin and kept talking like nothing happened . . . oh . . . maybe that was in my imagination . . .

Scott Brown is not going to attend the SOTU speech tomorrow even though he was invited. A prudent descision as all the cameras would be trained on Sen, elect Brown showing his reaction to various components EG; clapping, standing, or not appauding and sitting throughout. The way things are going Sen, Brown may be needed in 2012 to clean house, balance the budget and pay attention to national security!

“I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president, and I believe that,”
O.K. does this even make any sense? What President was a really good President but got voted out after one term? I think what is apparent here is that his definition of “really good” is going to differ from how most of the country would define really good. I think this is a portend to grab our asses with both hands, because it is coming. I think he blames republicans tomorrow… maybe even some by name, probably will point to them in a condescending tone during the speech. Then we will have some kind of reconciliation forcing the health bill on us, legal or not and he will become increasingly antagonistic and arrogant from this point forward. I think that one line he spoke was very ominous.

I have started watching the WH more from the point of view of a drama critic than political interest. And it’s fascinating, it really is. My late husband used to design sets for various theater groups and I was involved in art direction, ie. set dressing, for several productions of local theater groups. And it’s very interesting to watch how these things are staged. Especially the camera angles and use of props. It’s like they think it’s a movie and if they get the sets and props right they will have a big hit, the script can be changed at whim. After all, the script is “just words”, right?
Just one more little thing to add to the picture descriptions, the site I got them from said they were from the White House site, taken by the official WH photographer. So apparently, the White House wants us to see the president tossing a football around and putting his feet on a very historic and recognizable desk. I wonder what they think we will think about that?? My reaction is this…”GET YOUR DAMN FEET OFF THE FURNITURE AND GET TO WORK, YOU LAZY SOB!!!” I am willing to bet that would be the reaction of most people seeing those pictures. What are they thinking releasing pictures like that of a president who is trying to be taken seriously?? Are they really that stupid???
beachnan
Looks very Presidential in those photos huh? The pic of him kicking back, with his feet on the desk seems pretty appropriate. He keeps forgetting he is there to WORK!

He is setting up his escape hatch, one he can use and still tell himself he is perfect and everyone else let him down. He is being told, or figured out, that he is tanking all over the country and that a win in 2012 is looking more and more improbable. So, he will probably decide to retire to Hawaii, Chicago being too cold and all, get a seat on some of the boards of companies he tossed money at during his tenure, and live a life of luxury. And spend the rest of his life trying to rewrite the failure of his presidency as anyone’s fault but his.
dst
As original as when he smacked his lips together in “deep thought” before answering Oprah’s just so spontaneous question asking him to grade his first year.
wbboei
Wait a minute. He claims he did not make a bunch of deals on health care? Really/? How about the pivotal deal at the corrupt center of it. Surely he does not deny that he made a a deal, indeed a Rezko deal, with Big Pharma. It would hardly seem prudent for him to deny that now, after all that information that has come out on the subject. Or, do we have to bring in Billy Tauzin to refute that statement. Or is it subsumed in his statement that he would take responsibility for the lack of transparency he promised on health care.
The problem he has now is in two parts. The first part is the clandestine aspect of the deal. He promised it wold be done on C-Span and instead it was done in the bowels of the White House far from the madding crowd.
The second part of the problem is the corrupt nature of that deal. It was a good deal for big business, a bad deal for the American People and the Administration tried to pass it off as reform, aka Obamacare,
And now he says he will take responsibility. That is a fine rhetorical gesture, but what does it mean? Does he intend to take responsibility for the content of the bill, for the fact that it was not on C-Span or that he mislead the American People.
Regardless of what he says now the question will be settled with finality in November.q

“Indonesia mulls tearing down Obama statue
(AFP) – 1 day ago
JAKARTA — Indonesian authorities said Monday they are considering a petition to tear down a statue of US President Barack Obama as a boy, only a month after the bronze was unveiled in Jakarta.
The statue of “Little Barry” — as Obama was known when he lived in the capital in the late 1960s — stands in central Jakarta’s Menteng Park, a short walk from the US president’s former elementary school.
Critics say the site should have been used to honour an Indonesian and 55,000 people have joined a page on social networking website Facebook calling for the statue to be removed.
Mr. Johnson, How does BO pivot off of the “backroom deals” by saying if it wasn’t for ”opening up transparency” the public would not have known there were backroom deals. So on that basis there was only only “mush”?
The other very odd item of note is he never looked directly at Ms. Sawyer. Never engaged with eye contact. VERY telling as if campiagning on process was what he did in the “campaign”. It seriously begs the question if can lead at all.
On top of the healthcare debacle being a “blackhole” in the speech tomorrow, which I get a pre-cognitive sense of forboding that that the elephant and donkeys will be a roll of the dice on the Jumanj board.

It’s always entertaining to watch master Obama when he’s ad-libbing bullshit. He sure can go on and on without saying anything definable, always punctuated of course with plentiful “ahhhs”, “ummms”, and other odd guttural eruptions. Forgive him………. he knows not what he says, he relies totally on his faithful kiss-ass media to spin some deep meaning into his gibberish. They must be getting worn out by now though, I know I’M exhausted just watching them frantically struggle to keep the lipstick on their favorite pig. But I suppose he’ll keep on blabbing his nonsense as long as people keep listening. If bullshit is fattening, it could explain the increase in obesity among Obamaholics.
“Oooooo, he’s making it up as he goes along!” as john Cleese says in this wonderful clip.

Ever notice how he blocks with his hand and arm when someone’s pissing him off, it’s so passive aggressive and makes him look weak–which he is.
And newsflash, Obama: you didn’t get the process or the policy right. And you never will because you are inexperienced and incompetent.

I know what they can do with the statue, give it to the White House. Little Barry can have it installed on the front lawn. Maybe install a lamp on it.

No Quarter really doesn’t like Barack Obama.
True fact.
In case you weren’t sure about that, Larry’s published a new post outlining NQ’s disdain for the man.
You watch that video? You read his commentary? Oh man, it must be really clear to you now just how much NQ generally just does not like that fellow.
It’s serious. They really are not fans of his.
Just a few minutes ago, another NQ writer put up a post trashing a certain public figure.
Guess who?
Damn, you nailed it. President Barack Obama. That’s right. That’s two in a row.
I don’t know which one was more of a left hook to Obama’s glass jaw. In Ani’s piece, she says that Sarah Palin offers “Up the Smackdown from Hell to the Prez”, but then in Larry’s column, he invents his own special word to attack the president: “Orragance”.
Two more ruthless examinations of this man’s orragance you will not find anywhere in the annals of human writing.
Let us be clear.
No Quarter is never inviting Barack Obama to a live chat. Or one of those radio shows they’re always promoting. It’s just not happening.

Nobody likes Obama and it is George Bush’s fault.
“No Quarter is never inviting Barack Obama to a live chat. Or one of those radio shows they’re always promoting. It’s just not happening.”
It is not happening because Obama is too much of a chicken, he knows he would get his ass kicked. Obama won’t even go on FOX news because they did not try to elect him like every other station did. “What is your favorite ice cream?” “When you play basketball this weekend are you going to pretend you are Michael Jordan?” These are some of the actual questions your lamestream media fed Obama during the campaign as they had a contest to see who could fawn over that jerk the most.

I sent him an e mail & wanted to know where was this constitional argument when Congress passed a law mandating seniors purchase Medicare part D supplemental insurance or face a fine into perpetuity. Technically the Exec Branch is only responsible if it vetos or signs a bill.

Also Elaine, as we are often reminded, driving a car is not a right it’s a privilege. Further, driving a car can endanger others, accidentally or not, so I don’t see auto insurance in quite the same way.
I hope Hatch is right. I was livid too about the Medicare D and the intimidation of having to pay an extra percentage on premiums for each month you opt out. I used to regularly curse Bush at the pharmacy counter…and I don’t even need many RX’s. Just the unfairness of it all. Also the phony way the totals are computed…why should your out of pocket $ contribute to the total qualifying you as the payer for the “donut hole”? That one is just for one aspect of HC. If they manage this fraud, it’s going to be the biggest mess we’ve ever experienced.

Mr. Johnson and commenters,
I’m no fan of Obama, and actually I am a hard-core conservative, but I find the virulence against Obama a bit strange. Do the good people in this blog really think that if Hillary Clinton was in charge things would be any better? Or that if McCain and Palin were in charge it would be any different?
We are a nation trillions in debt. Agreed, Obama is doing everything wrong but we ceased to be a fiscally responsible, productive, intelligent nation decades ago. We are reaping the bitter fruits of our unwise behavior, which we planted since the Jimmy Carter days, and made worse with each administration that followed. We can’t build cars, secure our borders, educate our children, stop the proliferation of drugs, manage an efficient health-care system, find alternatives to our enslaving dependence on Arab oil, we can’t do anything worthwhile that lasts, unless you consider Twitter a big achievement.
I am *not* defending Obama, but Obama is not the only thing wrong in this country today. He will be gone in 3 years (one hopes) but the problems will remain, having gotten only bigger and worse. The disasters we face today are the result of years of liberal thinking (brought on by Democrats) and years of irresponsible thinking (brought on by Republicans). The problem is that Democrats are immature and push ideas that don’t work and Republicans are too lazy and cowardly to push back and implement ideas that do work despite their lack of popularity.
And here we are, up to our necks in doodie. My question is, to all pundits and commenters – how do we get ourselves out of this? I have read some intelligent entries in this blog, so I’m making this entry to ask – what would the ideal president (in your mind) do to fix this country, and what kind of sacrifices would you be willing to make to save this nation that is sinking fast?
I know that I will never be able to retire and will have to work (if I can find work) until my last day. I guess that will be my contribution: to fight to be a productive member of society, never waiting for a handout. My ideal president would simply shut down government spending and make merit the bedrock of his philosophy.

You can always tell when you tick him off….”Hold on a second” comes out of his mouth…what a complete waste of humanity…lying sack of shite!

How about put it in the veggie garden and act as composte?

“A aah a Uh ah..it’s a big mush”??? Wow — that was eloquent — and he just threw Congress under the bus. They were getting so much done so quickly? Even his supporters are complaining about how much the have NOT done. This is exhausting.

Larry,
I read many of your posts on here trashing Pelosi for essentially call the CIA liars (a few months back).
Well I think the CIA, particularly under Bush, were a bunch of liars. See this article in the respectable Foreign Policy magazine.
For sure the CIA lied to Pelosi and other members of congress (likely only Democrats) about their torturing activities.
Care to comment with a new post on this or will you continue with this one-side website?

Excellent analogy, FranSC.

Sawyer drank his koolaid with the rest of them — I am shocked that she said the words “back room deals” in that interview. Must be wanting to rescue her credibility as well.
Ani
TWK, The President likes to look at the teleprompter. Most of the time he is having his own prviate tennis match as he reads and rarely looks directly into the camera to make eye contact “with us”. It is very easy to install a prompter right on the camera to read right at the lens. Most of the time he does not.
Why would he look at Sawyer? Clearly it is uncomfortable.
Ani
Yup.

Respectful Bullshit,
When you signed in as Suzanne Goldstein on the Ellie Light article, you wrote”
“As an urban, enlightened, educated, sophisticated and progressive supporter of this blog, I am slightly surprised by some of the negative comments. To wit, in one year Obama has done for this nation more than scores of presidents that have come before him.”
Then again you wrote:
“I understand that many of the commenters are still uncomfortable with having a proud Nubian prince as a president, i.e., they are racists, but the truth is that our heavenly Barack is the most amazing president this nation has ever known.”
Yet now you begin with “I’m no fan of Obama [the nubian prince]”
Get lost you lying sack of troll turd!

So he’d rather be a good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president? Docelder finds this line very ominous, and so do I. It implies hat he really doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what the public thinks about his policies, because the only way he would not get elected for a second term is if the public disapproved of his first term. It shows an arrogance: “I know what’s best for the American people, and they do not, and I’m going to do it no matter what they think.” We’ve got a monarch here!==not “Queen for a Day,” but “King for a Term.”
It’s funny how someone who professes to be indifferent to public opinion loves the spotlight so much . . .
tango
Nor has he ever heard of, let alone made a true “command decision”. He does consenus taking and opinion gathering and focus groups and meetings and blah, blah, blah before deciding what to do. Which can be all and good – just depends on what needs to be decided. But sometimes, you just gotta to make a decision and let the chips fall where they may and take full responsibility.
All I ever needed to know about Obama’s character and unwillingness to make a decision and live by the consequences of his decisions were made clear to me by his 130 “Present” votes. If he was too scared before becoming President to make his preferences known due to fear of disaproval, why would it be any different now?

Never mind the total hash they made out of it. “This company covers medications A, B and C at X percent but does not cover medication D. Oh, you take medication D? Well, that plan over there covers Medication D but forget about A, B and C. We know none of them really fits you but you have to buy one or pay a penalty.”
Medicare Part D was the biggest gift to insurance companies and Big Pharma in history. But it wasn’t enough. Now they want to top it with Obamacare. Greedy ba*ds.

Idiot. When Obama took office his approval ratings were so high Americans would have made almost any sacrifice he asked, provided he could articulate the reasons behind it. That’s LEADERSHIP and it’s the one thing Obama is incapable of. Americans have figured that out (it wasn’t difficult) and now most of them wouldn’t cross the street for him.
You seem pretty cheerful for someone who believes she will have to work until her last day. You’re getting your daily supply of hopium, I guess.

Putting his feet up on his desk is a subtle body language tell of “I’m so cool and special, I can treat this desk that is of supreme importance and deserves the utmost respect like it’s a piece of crap. Maybe my super relaxed posture will fool you into believing I’m comfortable and sure and know what I’m doing.” That’s a position of
him asserting (or trying to assert) his dominance and is slightly condescending. Like those who are coming to see him are so unimportant he can’t even be bothered to respond to them in a respectful manner by taking his feet off the desk and giving them a professional response.

To clarify, I should’ve said Whoa, Nellie (as in the name of a horse) instead of Whoa, nelly (as in an effeminate man). I was surprised how eager the POTUS was to blame others for the questionable health care deals and was shocked he essentially stabbed his fellow Democrats in the back.

“Subtle body language”? Not very subtle. In addition to the implications you mention, Tango, there is this: “You 6 guys in suits are standing at attention, and I’m kicked back with my feet on this old expensive antique desk. Quick, someone take a picture of this. I want to take it into the bathroom with me the next time I need to jerk off.”

I do not like his phony grin.

Let’s see. How long do you think it will take Obama to wake up to the realities we face? Forget the fact he has NO clue how to fix it, but just really absorb the reality.
I mean…obviously he doesn’t believe it, because he just uses his Empty WORDS in his perpetual campaign.
Now today we get to hear Gibbs utter “putting Washington on the side of Main St, instead of the Insurance Companies”. in 2008 it was “on the side of Main Street instead of Wall Street”.
“CNN Poll: Most say worst economic conditions in a lifetime
Posted: January 27th, 2010 11:00 AM ET
Washington (CNN) – More than three-quarters of Americans said that the current economic conditions are the worst that they’ve ever lived through, according to a new national poll.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday, hours before President Obama delivers his first State of the Union address, indicated that 77 percent of the public feels that the rough economic times the country’s currently facing are the worst in their lifetime, while 22 percent said they’ve lived through worse times.”
What will the new t p m be in fall of 2010? ”Putting DC on the side of Main Street, instead of Businesses”?

FLDemFem
I don’t think anyone will want to hear him speak..it’s easier to just run a YouTube clip of him droning on and on, and a lot cheaper too. Seats on the board of various companies would give him an income without having to actually work for it, like he has now. He could fly in on the company jet for bi-annual board meetings and collect six figures for doing it. That beats hell out of slogging around various venues lugging a teleprompter. And it would keep him from having to mingle with the commoners. As for writing a book, well, I doubt Bill Ayres is going to be available as a ghost writer since Obama has failed to cram through the favored agenda. And we all know Obama doesn’t have the self-discipline to write it himself. So he will play golf, earn money for just being Obama, and live happily ever after with a pension we pay for and Secret Service for six years.

well bamaLV, i know that is reaching beyond his competence level but he could stretch himself and try. all he’d have to do is get some competent people and tell them he’ll be on the golf course. he’ll be available for photos and signing 2 hours in the morning.

TeakWoodKite
Momma told me there’d be days like this. LOL Or is he sleeoing?
deecue
Putting on my partially rosy glasses here are the facts today as I see them:
The modern day MSM is NOT in the business of providing information nor do they accurately report what WE THE PEOPLE consider issues our government needs to address. They sell advertising.
And they sell advertising by cozying up to the popular and trendy, be it pols or celebs or real issues or whatever…and then they tear it down. And many of us will watch it because that’s just how the human animal rolls. We all like a good trainwreck…sadly.
Our politicians don’t give one hoot about the 90% of us that don’t create the big wealth. They give a lot of hoots for the 10% that creates the big wealth and provides the other 90% of us with jobs which gives us the chance to create our own wealth if we’re prudent when doing so. (That’s why capitalism is cool…it makes more and more for everyone.)
The President is and should be the leader of all of us. Congress, WE THE PEOPLE, and the wealth creators. We’ve had leaders in the past several years that have failed miserably in various ways. Reagan was America’s last great leader…although Bush Sr. wasn’t too bad.
Congress (Senate and House) is the body that creates legislation that passes into law. On OUR behalf. Well…they’re supposed to anyway…see above comments on the 90% vs. 10%
The President (the office) is kinda like Captain Picard…as leader, he makes it so…with his signature on bills passed by Congress. If he doesn’t like it, he sends it back to Congress…if they don’t like his veto, they can legally override it.
The Supreme Court provides guidance on whether or not laws adhere to our Constitution…I think that is still the document that defines how we govern ourselves.
Congress has the real power…all 435 or so of them (plus their helper minions).
If WE (aka all the legal citizens of this nation), want real hope and change we need to go to the polls, religiously, and vote the incumbants who are up for re-election out of office. After a couple of these election cycles, the 10% gets the message that the other 90% aren’t happy (cause the 10% aren’t getting laws passed that enable them to create wealth). And WE need to vote with our pocketbook too. Spend YOUR money on businesses and institutions that YOU TRUST and know create wealth for legal citizens of this nation. Our politicians and wealth creators will get the message.
Don’t Tread On Me….
ogee
“Congress is what it is and I am not able to change it though I’d like to”…FAILURE! HIS AGENDA IS FAILING. OH GOOD.
He’s forever tripping on his tongue.
