As to getting a UNSC resolution condemning the Russian actions, of course Russia can veto it, but if the rest of the UNSC or all but a few of its members vote for a resolution in that direction, it still hurts Russian propaganda. It’s certainly just one thing among others, it’s not something on which to rest all hope.

McCain said on Aug. 11, 2008, “The United States and our allies should continue efforts to bring a resolution before the UN Security Council condemning Russian aggression, noting the withdrawal of Georgian troops from South Ossetia, and calling for an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgian territory. The world’s opinion, while not necessarily modifying Russia’s behavior directly, does make it easier or harder to coordinate action against Russia on this. Exactly! At first he tried to read it with not too much looking at the notes and mid way gave up and simply read from the notes. You see he had to come up to speed in may be 20 minutes once his advisers wrote that for him — not enough time to internalize it and of course, he had to go body surfing or some such thing too right? Yes we should take pitty on Obama since so many of his stories add up to such a poor guy.
Poor Obama had to endure his mother on welfare while he went to the most most preeminent schools in Hawaii.
Obama and his wife were earning over 200 k a year yet it took them almost 20 years to pay off college loans. (Give me a break). Oh I forgot Michelle is now earning 1/2 million a year since Obama got a bill passed benefitting her employers.
Poor Obama and his wife were only able to buy a 1.6 million dollar house due to their scantly pay and good friend/mentor Rezko. (opps not his friend anymore Rezko’s under the bus).
Oh and dont forget about all the Chicago housing projects Obama got money for to give the poorer residents of Chicago a better place to live. (opps I forgot most of that money was pocketed by the people he got the contracts for).

I have not been following events in the Middle East as closely as I should. It’s not one of my areas of expertise. I focus on Europe, Africa, Latin America, and South East Asia. I try to cover South Asia as well. My weaknesses are the Middle East, Cenral Asia, Oceania and East Asia.
