DC Snow Update

Thought some of you might enjoy the morning after shots. There is light after the darkness. I woke early today to put the brisket on the BBQ as part of the prep for tonight’s Super Bowl Party.

Our winter wonderland.

  • I’m a Linda too

Just amazing.  Beautiful and hopefully you don’t have to go anywhere for a while, until it melts some.

Beautiful pics, Larry.  I love the snow [though driving on ice is a pain].  We ended up with 30″ as the official measure.  Lucky, too.  No power outtages though I understand NJ and Delaware were not as fortunate.

We did the major shovel-out yesterday.  This afternoon?  Flatout gorgeous.

Aaaahh…The Morning After…. What’s the old saying? Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the flooding is?

Beautiful pics.  Looks like our backyard except the snow has been here since New Years.

Snow is beautiful as long as you don’t have to drive in it before the plows are out.

Oh, so pretty! You know what I love about a snowfall like this? When you wake up the next morning and you are somewhere between sleep and alertness, you sense a difference in the light. There is something indescribly sweet about waking up, nice and warm, next to someone you love in that special “snow light” that fills the room.

If you are really lucky, you will be in a quiet neighborhood. The sounds you hear are muffled ever so slightly. Maybe you hear the scrape of a snow shovel, or the bossy caws of crows. And you have a few moments to live in a suspended world, listening to your lover breathe softly.

You wrap this moment up and put it in your heart, never to be forgotten.

    Silent snow. Peaceful snow.

While living in Boise years ago, we got 13 inches in about 8 hours a few days before Christmas…I was walking to work faster than the cars were moving. Too bad I didn’t have XC skis or snowshoes yet…

    Is this beautiful, or what?

The pictures acts as the subjects. The interviews act as the exposures.

The picture + the interview = subject exposure.

OT: Rape on the rise in Haiti’s camps.

Girls as young as 12 have been attacked as sexual violence plagues the quake’s survivors

Rape: Rape: Rape: Don’t tell me there are laws in Haiti.

Get this those that defend Haiti’s soverignty because there are laws in Haiti: Get this: Rape was criminalised only in 2005

Get this also: Quote: “In one of the great unmentioned effects of the earthquake in Haiti, women and young girls are suffering a rising number of rapes and sexual assaults, according to leading aid agencies.”

Meaning that men are not at fault for raping or any other social cause such as ‘voodoo religion’ or government innaction. No, the writer implies that RAPE is a natural phenomena – an after shock.

Get this: Quote: “providing rape victims with life-saving medical treatment such as retroviral drugs which protect against HIV.”

Meaning that a large amount of the money that has been collected will be spend on drug up women with aids prevention pills. Great! I am sure the Obama millions will buy the drugs.

Oh, well. Maybe they should encarcerate another 10 baptists.

I remember the cops looting houses and stores after Katrina in New Orleans. Tell me they have laws there. I guess they do but they are “wink-wink” laws. I hope now that they have a Super Bowl ring they might get on with their lives five years post Katrina, shut up and rebuild or not but at least shut up about a hurricane five years ago. Sorry if my empathy is all used up for them. It just is.

  • Docelder

Or, if we have to import a bunch of Haitians for some reason, we can use them to repopulate New Orleans with. Sounds like the Haitians would take to the local government there.
