Of course, now that we have determined that those who are so discouraged that they are no longer looking for work anymore are also no longer "unemployed," we can pretty much convince ourselves of anythig. “We are now beginning to climb up out of the hole that we have dug ourselves in”?  It looks to me like we are just digging, perhaps a little bit slower, as long as we continue to loose jobs.
