Obama Guarantees Victory and Nancy Pelosi Gives All Credit to God

From Politico.com:

A confident Barack Obama raised an extraordinary $7.8 million Sunday at three California fundraisers, most if it in large checks to a Democratic Party committee.

I will win. Don’t worry about that,” he said to the crowd of about 1,300 at his third event of the evening, according to the pool report.

He was warmly received by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him “a leader that God has blessed us with at this time.”

How extraordinarily delusional is that. And God’s blessing will no doubt come as a surprise to the millions of Republicans who are devoutly religious, but who feel that Mr. Obama is a curse, not a blessing.

Come to think of it, Thomas Jefferson might object as well.

If there is indeed an afterlife, let us hope — for the sake of our Founding Fathers — that it precludes the ability to observe what is going on in the United States at this time.

For the sake of Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, I hope that there are countless angels surrounding and doting on both men.

For the sake of John Adams, I hope there are plenty of disagreeable sorts with whom he can have cantankerous debates.

And, for the sake of all, I hope our nation’s dearly departed cannot see that the great country that they so bravely created is regressing.

MSNBC had Olympic coverage, they normally have a lower viewership.

          • Lucinda

Thank you for adding that. You’re right. They’re numbers are usually lower than CNN.

          • ginaswo still says no Uhhbama

same for CNBC, they had olympic coverage on all NBC channels

Jeff Immelt was on CNBC this morning touting the success of the Olympic coverage and the decoupling (now commonly referred to as utter BS theory) of the global economies form the US as being factors that will raise GE performance (which has sucked)

I have been boycotting every news channel except FOX. I saw their shows tonite and thought parts of it were great, expecially Hannity and Colmes when they did the review of the Faith Forum. The show about the rise of Barry Soetoro was a lot of soundbites if you ask me. There was a whole lot more that they could have and should have said about Barry, they did not even mention his connections with Ayers and family, and glossed over the relationship he has with Rezko. That part especially was not talked about in much depth at all and it should have been. Whatever happened to investigative journalism?

      • s. hall

      • Hope Floats

I doubt Botox Nancy found Jesus. The Republicans were quiet about their faith all these years. Some amoral whack job like Pelosi getting all profound and metaphysical is just sickening.

“And Jesus said, bring the little children to me. If they are in any way defective or nonviable, if the mother feels punished, and they survive an abortion, then stab them in the head with scissors.”

        • American Woman

or just put them in closet with soiled linens to die…pure EVIL..

        • lusitania

I am no fan of Nancy Pelosi. But commenting on a woman’s looks, or a man’s as well, is not helpful to our cause. There is too much else that could have been said about her. Taking potshots like this is not even necessary and is too easy. We are smarter than that.

          • s. hall

lusitania — I think its fair if Nancy can call Obama God’s blessing. I guess God didn’t mind Obama’s strongarm tactics in those caucuses.

            Glory be to God.

The softball handling will continue until the day after the convention. Then you can expect the full court press by Fox. They will slam him hard and repeatedly leading up until a few days before the election, and then the last 2 days expect all of the truth to come out. He will be lucky to avoid prison on election day let alone have any prayer of winning.

Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying:

“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion
of the day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished
period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers
(adminstrators) too plainly proves a deliberate, systematic plan
      of reducing us to slavery.”

The simple acts of tyranny would be the caucuses and bullying of delegates and super delegates, voter suppression and intimidation.

Reducing us to slavery is equivalent to loosing the democratic principles of our country. IMHO, Bush and the lame congress have paved the way for major problems for our democratic republic…

Thomas Jefferson would be calling for a revolution. He would be a PUMA.

      • PumaPastor

The viewing of freedom and security as “either/or” choices has clearly left us with policies that reflect neither our religious nor political heritage. The current war in Iraq is neither liberal nor conservative: it has merely provided the motives and means for corporate robber barons to steal from rather than deal with any nation under God.

The right would have us believe we should hold corporations free and individuals accountable; the left would have us believe we should hold individuals free and corporations accountable. Either option views freedom and security as adversaries rather than as allies. Each alternative, alike, misleads us into believing that we are just embodied souls that need to escape the curses of a world made evil; they just differ in the directions they take in order to execute their means of escape.

Both approaches, unfortunately address us, as the electorate, as objects of force – be it a push or a pull – rather than as agents of our own destiny. Faith is much bigger that that. It believes that we should neither be pushed into blindly obeying conventions of the past; nor should we be pulled willy-nilly into any movement without some assurances as to our future.

Our Faith says individuals and corporations alike should be free to be accountable and accountable to be free. Sure there are ways in which we, as a people, need to address our responsibilities to uphold one another’s liberty. The reasons why we do so have less to do with being embodied souls and more to do with being ensouled bodies. The reasons why we do so should have less to do with escaping that curses of world that’s evil and more to do with participating in the blessings of a world worth saving.

Great that Nancy Pelosi is all for God raising money for a presidential candidate.

Funny, she didn’t mention God when she took impeachment off of the table.

There is proof of numerous war crimes committed during the war in Iraq. But I guess Nancy didn’t think of God when it came to dead, maimed, and tortured Iraqis, various and sundry civilians, and GIs.

Bill Clinton seems opposed to an Obama presidency and not just because of Hillary if you getmy drift.

      • Papoose

        Thank God for Bill.

I am praying that he takes the script they write for him – crumples it up nd throws it on the floor right there at the podium and commences ro speak his mind.

I would love to see an orderly walk out when that thing opens the Convention. wtf is that all about?

If Bill acquieces I am definitely going underground. If this freak gets in we won’t even be allowed to communicate. It’s just a matter of time.

This is a coup and the Republicans are apparently participating in it.

Anyone else would have been disqualified loooooonnng ago. This is sickening. Incredible.

        • NoBamaNoWay

yes; it would be excellent to see bill go totally off the reservation and give this party a talkin’ to like it’s never had. it sorely needs to be done, and by someone that the world will listen to.

          • Karma

The other day Anderson Cooper was doing this Veepstakes segment with the pros and cons of Hillary as VP with Bill as baggage.

He also stated that people hang on the Clinton’s every word trying to find the meaning of what is said and what isn’t said.

            Despite being the One….

Obama still doesn’t capture that type of attention. With this most recent debate once again highlighting the obvious. He can’t speak without a rehearsed speech…so clearly he is busy practicing that convention speech.

Since Obama is actually saying less now then when he first started running. Taking no brave stances and showing he hasn’t made effective use of his time to learn anything new.

Once again he has to attack through MSNBC and smear a trusted spiritual advisor to millions in the process. To divert attention from his failure to prepare for the debate. Rick Warren is getting his version of the Obama
‘flip off and brush off’. Like he did after the Hillary debate thumping.

Here they are trying to pander to God and Obama just threw them under the bus calling their debate into question. Who is going to be left to vote for him?

      • workingclass artist

Exactly how much has this freak raised? I lost track. I am sure his God is very pleased with all the good he has done with it, “thus” far.

Anyone who (tried to) read the 99 pages of garbage Michelle called a thesis, probably cannot even to hear the word thus anymore without getting a queazy feeling.

Obama’s up 3% in the latest Gallup poll. McCain’s short-lived advantages all was seem to fade. Maybe he lacks staying power?

        • Duras

I agree and if tonite’s FOX broadcast is good we will see a steady increase in McCain’s numbers.

Besides, since when are 3 points worth bragging about???

        • Eidnoreid

you mean the same staying power of the supposed bump from obama’s world tour, especially outspending and outraising his opponent with the media/msm on his side in a pro-democratic year, it’s a statistical tie and it’s kind of sad, seeing as how democrats usually have much higher polling numbers?

    However:

Why isn’t Nancy invoking God while people are losing their homes, don’t have health care, or can’t afford the gas to make it to work? She’s too busy worshiping Obama to care about pesky things like that.

    Oy.

  • kavala007

This is getting beyond the pale. It sounds like Pelosi and Obama do not believe in the separation of church and state. They obviously do not believe in the Constitution that they have both sworn to uphold. They do believe, however, that GOD has appointed and anointed them and that is both scary and delusional stuff. This is what comes of all the money, probably coming from Obama and going through Pelosi PACs, to buy supporters for him. Critical thinking goes right out the window.

Russia considers nuclear missiles for Syria, Baltic (Our answer: Elect a community organizer for president)

Russia is planning to install Iskander surface missiles in Syria and its Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, in a response to United States missile interceptors in Poland and U.S.-Israeli military aid to Georgia, an Israeli news agency reported on Monday.

Moscow seems to be eying Poland, the Middle East, and possibly Ukraine, as the main arenas for its reprisals, as Russia is reported to plan arming warships, submarines and long-range bombers in the Baltic and Middle East with nuclear warheads, DEBKAfile reported.
The plan includes the establishment of big Russian military, naval and air bases in Syria and the release of advanced weapons systems withheld until now to Iran, with the S-300 air-missile defense system, and the nuclear-capable Iskander to Syria.

        • RepublicanChick

Could you please identify and provide links please of comments for which John McCain is a racist? I prefer links other than Huffington Post and DailyKos as proof.

The thing I love about Obama Democrats is they call “Republicans racist” every chance they get online. Meet them in person and they’re not so damn bold unless they’re in a group.

        • Observer

You must be referring to Obama, who attends that racist church of Rev Jeremiah “GD AmeriKKKa” Wright for the LAST 20 YEARS, and who had exposed his two young daughters every Sunday to such hateful diatribe. Not the mention his wife, Michelle Obama, who proclaims that she will only use all her abilities to only help black people in her university thesis, a pretty racist statement and sentiment.

Compare this to McCain, who is a war hero who suffered torture as a POW in Vietname, whose wife, Cindy McCain, started the non-profit American Voluntary Medical Team that has brought emergency medical care to disaster-struck or war-torn third-world areas such as Micronesia, Vietnam, Kuwait, Iraq, Nicaragua, India, Bangladesh and El Salvador. Their daughter, Bridget, was adopted from a Bangladesh orphanage which Cindy McCain visited with Mother Teresa during one of her non-profit trips.

The comparison is obvious. Obama pales in comparison to McCain. The true racist is Barack Obama. Barack Obama is an African-American racist.

    • RepublicanChick

You’re posting something from the Huffington Post on NQ to make your point?

      Will wonders never cease?

      • Freedom Fighter

Since you are a Repub, let me clue you in on something… every so called Democrat on NQ was an ardent HuffPo and KO fan until the center left sites began supporting the party’s historic African American candidate.

        • RepublicanChick

Historic will be the day when Democrats that support Obama will see past race and focus on the person.

          • Hope Floats

Historic will be when he loses in November and joins Gore, Kerry and Dukakis as the typical Dem choke candidate of the hard line left. Clinton outfoxed them, and his wife was not historic enough for the assholes on DKos and the Huff Po.

        • meileen

Not true. The turning point was when those sites continuously disrespected the best president we have had in the last 40 years, along with its hateful propaganda against the better Democratic candidate.

Oh, but wait, that can’t be correct. Everyone here is Republican, right? Isn’t that the spin you guys use?

        • mystic4hillpuma

Sorry Freedom Fighter, but I need a much better reason to support Obama than the fact that he’s bi-racial (he’s got an African father and a Caucasian mother, in case you’ve forgotten).

And, while I support Hillary Clinton, I don’t support her simply because she is a woman. My support is based on her years of experience, her qualifications, her grasp of domestic and foreign affairs, her ability to work with both Dems and Repubs, her compassion…well, I could go on and on and on.

So, because I choose not to support Obama regardless of his race, and I choose to support Hillary regardless of her gender, does that make me both a racist AND a misogynist? Or does that make me a human being choosing to support a candidate who most closely represents my values?

        • Observer

“Freedom Fighter”, you are a real racist. You support Obama only based on his skin color. Look beyond race, and you will see a rotten character and a disaster in waiting in the person of Barack Obama. Look beyond race, and look at the character of the person and the deeds he has done.

Duras, I have a Republican friend who for years has been *sick* over the hijack of HER party by far right greedy nutjobs. She remembered the day when there was such a thing as centrist Republicans willing to compromise and make reasonable progress. The powers that be did not want McCain to win the nomination, but the “little people”, the Republican voters, decided that their party needed a kick in the pants from sane, reasonable folks. I think some centrist Republicans have BEGUN, slowly, to try to take their party back, bless ‘em.

I only hope we reasonable, left-of-center-but-not-fruitcake Democrats can do the same with our party. The moderate CENTER of this country, both left and right leaning, need to UNITE and set this country STRAIGHT!!!

This strategy by the dems has been in the works since 2004.
There were numerous sessions by them to plan an appeal to the faith communities.
I can remember when many dems did not openly discuss their faith and did not wish to…but the Republicans were making such inroads in that area that the leadership made plans.
I agree, Susan, that our founding fathers probably would not approve!

    • mesofreee

They are so behind the times, the faith community is not what it once was, and wouldn’t have played much of a role in this years election. Most of them wanted to sit this one out, being dejected by Haggard and all.

Dems missed that one big time and 2004 brought out Mr. Personality himself Kerry.

    Another Tactic-Look familiar?

    Divide and Rule

In politics and sociology, divide and rule (derived from Latin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. In reality, it often refers to a strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful, since it is difficult to break up existing power structures.

Typical elements of this technique are said to involve
    • creating or encouraging divisions among the subjects in order to forestall alliances that could challenge the sovereign.
    • aiding and promoting those who are willing to cooperate with the sovereign.
    • fostering distrust and enmity between local rulers.
    • encouraging frivolous expenditures that leave little money for political and military ends.

Still mired in debt, Clinton seeks cash

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

Clinton is still mired in campaign debt.
(CNN) — It might be Barack Obama’s convention, but Hillary Clinton is taking the opportunity to raise money off of it.

Days after the New York senator announced she would award one contributor a trip to the convention with her, husband Bill Clinton is out with another fundraising appeal Monday encouraging supporters to join the contest.

Cafferty: Should Obama help Clinton with debt?

In an e-mail to potential donors Monday, the former president promised one contributor would have a memorable week with his wife, though he took care to reiterate Obama is the Democrat who the party will nominate for president.

The e-mail is a stark reminder the New York senator remains mired in campaign debt more than two months after she ended her historic bid for the White House, much to the aggravation of many of her supporters.

“You’ll get to see Hillary speak on Tuesday, and Barack Obama — the next president of the United States — on Thursday,” he wrote. “And I hear Hillary and you will have a chat — I’ll make sure to stop by.”

The fundraising appeal also comes shortly after it was announced Clinton’s name would be placed in nomination along with Obama’s and the same day one of the New York senator’s most prominent backers, billionaire Lynn Forrester, expressed anger with Obama for not doing more to help the New York senator retire her campaign debt.

“He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama,” she said. “Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.”

Related: Clinton donors hesitant to show love for Obama

When it comes to her campaign debt, the conclusion of the party’s convention serves as an important deadline. According to McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform, candidates only have 20 days after that date to fundraise for their personal loans.

As of the end of June, Clinton was more than $25 million in debt, $13 million of which is owed to herself. (Though New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg is currently appealing the FEC with regards to that provision.)

The Clintons, likely averse to any more hits on their public image, are reportedly not seeking to get their own money back.

    • ginaswo still says no Uhhbama

I gave again today, thank you for the reminder :0)

we will see the FEC filing in a matter of days now (20th)so we can know how much more to raise for our Hillary

      BOOYAH!

  • kinthenorthwest

I have to say that with all the corruptness that was found in the primaries, along with the people that Obama associates with I am very afraid that this might not be fair elction in Nov.

We have several states with voting machines that will not give us any way to reck the votes.
We already know that there are thousands and thousands of people registered that are phony.

This is going to be one very scary election.

    • meileen

And I never thought I would feel that way about Democrats. Never thought I would see them stoop so low as to steal an election. Between unsafe machines that Dean used to bitch (why so quiet now, Coward?) and the ACORN group that Obama has registering dead people, they are actually going to try to steal this thing in November.

It’s an upside down world these days.

  • catherine

My daughter works on the Hill and through her job she has been invited to go to the democratic convention. She is an idealistic Hillary supporter but plans to support the party. It breaks my heart that my child will be witness to the biggest lie and sham of the century. At a time when she should be excited about democracy and her future, I as her mother see a deterioration of democratic values and beliefs thanks to the likes of Karl Rove and now David Axelrod and his cronies. I try to keep my worries to myself but she knows. The mental baggage of Obama and his wife are such serious aspects of who they are that our country will be in dire jeopardy if he Obama is elected. He is not grounded. He lacks substance and authenticity. He is smart but uncertain of his beliefs about country and his role as leader. If anything he is more of a preacher than that of an independent informed leader. His wife hates America and white people. This is horrific and should be a grave warning to Americans. Talk about bitter. The Obama’s in my view harbor more hate and bitterness than the strongest of Hillary supporters and the campaign has used reverse psychology to try to put the bitter label on others. Psychologically troubled individuals often play this game in an effort to distract others from their own psychological issues and pathology. Trust me on this one. I have studied child psychology and its effects on development for years.

      BREAKING! Rendell Voting for Hillary!
      by: Alegre
Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 19:48:27 PM EDT
Hat tip to CampSkunk for finding this good news!

Guys this is a HUGE get. We were after Rendell just a few short days ago for trying to block efforts to bring aboard Hillary’s delegates in Pennsylvania – he told people not to sign that nominating petition.

And now he’s saying he’s going to vote for her on the first ballot. This is huge – HUGE I tell ya!

Lauding ‘cathartic’ effect of roll-call vote, Rendell to cast his convention vote for Clinton

…Clinton’s largest backer in Pennsylvania says that he too will take the opportunity to cast his vote for Clinton.

Gov. Ed Rendell, in an interview with PolitickerPA.com today, lauded the resolution reached last week that will allow Clinton’s name to be placed in nomination, before U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) ultimately accepts the party’s presidential nomination.
… I think it’s good not because it will display any disunity, but because it honors the hard work of so many people who supported Sen. Clinton,” said Rendell, who was one of Clinton’s most visible and vociferous campaigners during the run-up to the state’s April primary. “Many of the Pennsylvania delegates worked their heart out for Sen. Clinton, and they’re excited to cast a vote for her. From my vantage point, that will be closure for them.

“I think it will have the cathartic effect that both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama are hoping to have,” he added.

Spread the word far and wide – those who once tried to block us are climbing back on to the Hillary Express

      • s. hall

Jan I like Rendell — but it will not change the way I feel. I will vote a straight Republican ticket.

    • meileen

I’m sorry for your daughter. She is blooming at an ugly time for our party.

The party is losing many good people. Remind her that things do change, and not by hoping. We will make a difference and fix this mess for 2012.

      • catherine

        Thank you.

    My email to Pelosi:

    Ms. Pelosi,

You recently introduced Barack Obama at a fundraiser as “a leader that God has blessed us with at this time.”

May I ask you which God that might be? Because I don’t feel very blessed with Barack Obama, and I certainly don’t feel that MY God takes it upon herself to infringe on the free will of human beings by “blessing” us with politicians – good, bad, or indifferent. MY God leaves it up to us humans to decide which politicians represent our core values, and which politicians we’ll vote for based on that representation.

Neither you, nor Barack Obama, represents my values. Neither you, nor Barack Obama, will ever get my vote.

Please leave MY God out of this political sham. As a matter of fact, you should probably leave everyone’s God out of it. Ever heard of the 1st Amendment?

And your poll numbers continue to drop.

Only real solutions and real people will help us get back on the road to be the nation to which we pledge our allegiance.

Both parties and the media would have us believe that we should either a) seek security at the expense of freedom, or b) seek freedom at the expense of security. The right says we should hold corporations free and individuals accountable in order to assure security; the left says we should hold individuals free and corporations accountable in order to assure liberty.

In the meantime each extreme just ignores what we, the people, say each and every time we speak or act upon our pledge to be Americans. Since when did freedom and security become adversaries rather than allies? Since when did liberty and justice for all become an either /or choice of freedom or security for a chosen few?

Clearly, either extreme presents us with choices and policies that reflect neither our religious nor political heritage. They present us with alternatives that are neither liberal nor conservative; and do so in order to promote motives and means for corporate robber barons to steal from, rather than deal with, any nation under God.

We, as Americans, know there can be no security without liberty; we also know there can be no liberty without equity. For those of us who have not lost faith in the American dream, we still look for real solutions that will help us achieve true equality of opportunities.

That’s why I still support Hillary as president. Only she has the tenacity and ingenuity to reach beyond the propaganda of foreign (oil companies) and domestic (corn based- ethanol) interests to find energy alternatives that are truly accessible and sustainable. Only she has shown the audacity and courage to stand up for an America where individuals and corporations alike will once more be free to be accountable and accountable to be free when it comes to getting a real deal for a national health care policy. Unlike the DNC, Hillary fights for every vote to count and to count every vote!

He wouldn’t just object, he would take a razor to the statements and even shoot both of them on the White House lawn for committing Treason against the spirit of the US Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson, a Freemason and Deist [two qualities I admire and ascribe to as well] would find this entire elections process a direct assault to the spirit of this once proud Democratic Republic.

Madison forwarned against the duopoly of party politics running the nation and destroying the US Constitution.

The father of the US Constitution was a visionary and I’d take his words to your core, each and everyone of you who value Liberty described in flawless detail by Sir Thomas Paine.

  • Anonym

God does not support Obama. He does not support liars, deceivers, con artists, thieves, defrauders, cult leaders, black racist sexists.

It’s not hard to see. There have been more signs from God in this pre-election than any other.

I may set up a web site to prove them. But I make it my policy not to interfere with elections… people deserve the leader they choose to follow. Teaches them a lesson or two if they choose evil. However, I can’t ignore God’s public signs – or private ones. I did it before – and the two twin towers He warned me about every hour of every day for a decade are gone.

And since the current signs are mirrors of the post-2000 election signs from Him relating to 911, I’d say mass destruction and terror are in the American future again.

It’s really difficult for a prophet to criticize Russia right now and get them to pull out of Georgia. Why? Americans want an evil leader for themselves – just like Russians wanted some. They got their wish – and if the US is as foolish, they’ll have lots too. I could stop them – but I won’t. Americans chose a democratic leader who is evil – and deserve to experience evil. Again. Like 911 wasn’t enough – they chose a man with the Arab name of Barack and the Arab name of Hussein with a surname of A-Bomb which, like the Satanic verses, rhymes with Osama. How stupid can a people be???

God answers people’s prayers. Ask for evil leaders, like the moslems do, and you will get them. And God will stand by as you are engulfed by their evil because that is what the people wanted.

But what do those people do when they are dead – pretend they didn’t know the difference between good and evil. They can’t fool anyone, much less God.
