Anderson Cooper: ” Is the tide turning?”

From Anderson Cooper’s blog at CNN:

Obama must select a running mate who gives a lift to his campaign and can also hammer home a message in the convention and in the vice presidential debate this fall. He definitely needs a fighter by his side. (For my money, Hillary Clinton looks better and better; if not her, Joe Biden is probably the best fighter — perhaps Evan Bayh, or a surprise choice.)

It is also critical for Obama’s people to realize that Hillary Clinton is FIVE YEARS YOUNGER than Joe Biden.

Joe Biden would be 73 before he could run for president, provided by some miracle Barack Obama gets elected twice.

What I fear for both Clinton and Biden is that they would be shut out by Obama’s staff. Their expertise would gather dust.

And that is solely because Barack Obama does not have the WISDOM to SEEK their advice, I fear.

  • sfhillary

I see. So, when Obama is reported to have an extensive staff of foreign policy advisors, that’s because he’s ignorant and needs all the help and that’s a weakness. But you also fear that Clinton and Biden’s “expertise would gather dust” because Obama lacks the wisdom to seek their advise.

    Whatever.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

It is too late to turn Obama’s campaign around. He peaked in his own mind months ago and has not gained a single new constitutent. Poll trends show the independents starting to make up their minds and McCain’s advantage is growing. They are not moving to Obama and this was before his disasterous showing on the lastest “debate” with McCain.

The only thing the DNC can do now is save the Dem Party in the future for all the disgruntled Hillary supporters, but they can not save the Obama campaign. It was the Obama campaign that thoroughly turned off so many Hillary supporters and the DNC has blood on its hands on that account.

The only thing the DNC can do is help wash the blood off their hands for later party support. But they can never wash off the stink of the Obama campaign.

Never. Dean and Brazile are the Judas Escariots of the Dem Party. Ditch them along with trainwreck Obama and there may be a breath of fresh air again in this party. The more the jack boot tactics of the “new” Obama supporters come to light, the more this party cries out to rid themselves of this undemocratic menace.

  • http://obamafact.blogspot.com/ Mel

In the case of Obama, it makes no difference who the VP is, you cannot overshadow a useless choice by selecting a second in command.

Focus of every attack come August 29th will be on Obama, every debate will be a failure by Obama and every serious considering voter will realize that Ameica and the world cannot accept the form of change Obama brings to Washington, one of pathological lies and total inexperience in any political arena except for campaigning and eliminating competition by the lowest forms of actions.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Obama lost more Democratic supporters than he ever brought in. Dean and Brazile got mugged by Obama supporters and sold out the party.

  • http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/forumdisplay.php?f=84 HereComeThePUMAs

… with 300 advisors on Foreign Policy, didn’t BO get the history on Bosnia wrong?

    Just sayin’ is all.

Keep Chicago Politics out of the Whitehosue!!!

  • Obama’s gums look sick

The Republicans over-shadowed a useless choice when they picked Cheney to run this country from the back seat. Obama thinks this is a winning argument as he claims he has just as much experience as Bush and Bush got elected twice. How is that for rocket science in action? McCain 2008

  • Linda

Big difference when one sees the expertise of some to help guide in his efforts to win, vs seeking the help and experience-goddess forbidden given them credit, for work in HIS administration.

  • Perry Logan

No matter who advises him, Obama can be trusted to make the wrong decision.

  • beebop

Can someone help me understand how Joe Biden is less inside than Hillary Clinton? Or having been LESS successful during the primaries what exactly he brings to 0bama now?

If anyone tries to tell you that it wasn’t about 1) the Clintons and 2) a woman president LAUGH LONG AND HARD IN THEIR faces because they are full of shit!

Democrats, Ebay, block sale of Convention Tickets

Sounds like their intent is to make sure the fake messiah’s fake “acceptance speech” is carefully monitored and only true obamaites get inside-

    Is this communist America?

Are American’s going to get their heads out of their asses before it’s too late?

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Silly. Obama can be trusted to make NO decision. He will dither and equivocate just like Governor Gray Davis in California before he got tossed out by Schwarzenegger in a solid recall.

  • Felix Rodriguez

If his foreign policy advisors are so wonderful, lets elect one of them as president. Lets face it, how often do you hire a manager because of his or her ability to delegate authority and responsibility? Sorry but I would rather someone with experience. It does not work in corporate America, it should not work in the White House. I’m very tired of that argument.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Gotta keep Obama in front of a teleprompter, fake crowds and requisite fainting ladies. Gobama. Celebrity worship is your only strong suit. Play it for all its worth. Play to the crowds who don’t give a shit about America and only want to poke a stick in our eyes.

Actually, that blog entry was written by DAVID GERGEN, who knows his way around politics, having worked for both Democrats AND Republicans during his long career as a political staffer. When Gergen says THIS, people oughta listen:

Moreover, McCain is now on a sustained roll in his campaign. Since the time he shook up his organization a few weeks ago, he has been much more focused and has started to get through to voters. Democrats — and the press — didn’t like the quality of those ads, but they seem to have worked politically. His stand on drilling and on Russia have also strengthened his aura of command. And now Saddleback.

That’s quite a run and it is reflected in the polls: not only have the national numbers tightened up but McCain has actually moved ahead (slightly) in three key battleground states: Ohio, Virginia and Colorado.

A web site that averages all significant polls, RealClearPolitics.com, has previously projected that just looking at polls, Obama was ahead in states with over 300 electoral votes; now he is down to 275 — a tiny cushion since 270 is the magical number for winning.

At Saddleback, Obama surely held on to his base support but McCain strengthened his and probably appealed to some undecideds, too.

In short, the tide is moving for the first time in the Republican direction. And the realization is setting in that McCain might just win.

And when he says this, it’s almost as though he’s predicting the opposite result:

The Democratic convention in Denver has to be a roaring success, not only uniting the party but sending a much clearer, crisper message about why 4 more years will be 4 more years of tears.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for any KUMBAYAH “Roaring Success” moments. They’ll be lucky if there isn’t outright revolt. I’m quite sure I’ll still be spitting tacks once this Farce In Denver finishes.

I want to express this to anyone who is thinking of voting for obama, if he picks hillary or any other person for his vp, it should not matter, he is evil, he voted 3 times to let live birth babies die with no treatment, partial birth abortion, and that is cruel unGodly punishment that no one deserves! he wants God to take care of evil Alquaida, because he is not, he plans to dismantle our military, just in time for russia and radical islam to finish the job they started against the infidels, be ready for rape torture, beheadings, he will not be on our side, as he has stated in his own “words” He will stand with the muslims should the winds turn ugly and they will, they plan each and every moment to kill us, it is what they live for..they have already taken over much of Europe and have gained much ground here, using our laws, guillbilty, and aclu, to do it..this is why they want God out of everything. Think of this before you vote, that they will never stop, the choice will be yours do you want to go through the hell of them doing to us what they do in their countrys, honor killings, beheadings? so forth, or we will stand strong and proud like we always have, and never ever surrender! This is why so many of these leaders are hoping he will win, as he is their brother, and will help them , turn us into their slaves, I wont I will die first before I would ever give into them..he may choose hillary, as he knows about these sites , and hope he would win, but he will turn on her and say she did something to him, that is why they played the rfk remarks over and over, and he will get rid of her..remember this, never forget and tell everyone you know this man is going to raise taxes on everyone, he is a liar, and pretends he wont but he surely will..look at what he did to his own district..while he bought a 2 millon dollar house,,they suffer with no heat, and terrible conditions, they pay 3 times as much for medical bills then insured …middle class..think of that, when you think you know him..and think of how he has no problem killing live birth babies

  • DAB

Obama screws up at Saddleback so it must be McCain’s fault. Surely no one is allowed to outshine The One.

I have seen clips of Mr. Great complaining that McCain is always talking about him (BO) because he has no ideas. Well, dearest BO this is a campaign and you’re supposed to contrast yourself with your opponent. I have seen you do that with your “John McCain blah blah blahs” but I see that you would rather he not do the same. You are such a baby!

  • cdo

It is simply too late for Obama to ask Hillary. In fact it is too late for the whole damn general election. It is over and Obama has lost.
Where would a Clinton/Obama ticket be polling right now? It makes me very sad to think of what a smart DNC could have done.

  • Perry Logan

Even after we rid ourselves of the Obamites, the damage from his campaign will linger.

Thanks to the Obama gang, the Democrats have lost much of the African American vote. The smears against the Clintons which helped Obama steal the nomination will lose us millions of voters after Obama gets creamed in November. (Now that they know the whole Clinton thing was bogus, why would they come back?)

The Obamites have also cost the Dems much of the women’s vote. Using the crudest misogyny against your opponent during a primary will tend to do that.

People like myself, who don’t like dirty campaigns and corrupt politicians, have also stopped being Democrats.

Why did no one remember how bad and/or mediocre Obama was in previous debates, press conferences and interviews? I guess that grand speeches are all that count and any evidence to the contrary is overlooked by the MSM and his followers (until now that is). Better late than never.

Enough with the live babies. They’ve been beaten to death here.

People here aren’t one-issue voters, and frankly, some people actually don’t give a shit about that topic either way. You might not like that, but it’s true.

Obama’s problem is his lack of experience, his poor judgment, his gaps in essential knowledge, his obvious inability to pick staff with any talent whatsoever, the fact that he is a fucking CROOK, the fact that, for all of his memorization skills, he just isn’t all that SMART, and the fact that he will get beaten like a rented mule no matter who he picks as his running mate. He just SUCKS as a candidate.

About the only way a Clinton-Obama ticket could possibly win is with Clinton leading it.

    Otherwise, fuggedaboutit.

I am reminded of an old Persian proverb: “He who knows that he knows not is a child, teach him. He who knows not that he knows not is a fool; shun him. He who knows that he knows is wise; follow him.” Obama has abundantly demonstrated which group he belongs to: the middle group.

“The lack of any consistent lines of attack against McCain is becoming palpable”
    John Aravosis (DC) · 8/18/2008

    http://www.americablog.com/2008/08/lack-of-any-consistent-lines-of-attack.html

Today, Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo indicated his growing exasperation with the Obama campaign’s response, or lack thereof, to these ongoing attacks:

With so many instances of corruption and influence-peddling around him and whatever problems with the candidate that are keeping the campaign from letting reporters interview him anymore, John McCain is now again charging Obama with what amounts to soft treason — wanting to lose the war in Iraq in order to make himself president. The lack of any consistent lines of attack against McCain is becoming palpable.

When Josh exhibits this kind of frustration publicly, we take notice. Josh is one of the cooler heads in the blogosphere. He’s not as prone to fits of temper as, well, I might be. And he has a solid background in journalism that gives him a certain gravitas that the corporate media respects. So when Josh starts to blow a gasket, even in his typically subdued way, it means something.

Joe and I know a lot of people in politics. A lot of them are very smart. They’re not the people you hate, the Cokie Roberts’ and the Mrs. Greenspan’s of the world. They’re the kind of people you like and you trust. And those people are now telling us that they fear we’re going to lose the election. What Josh said today, and what Josh has written between the lines of a lot of posts on his blog of late, is something we’re hearing a lot of from a lot of people. There is an incredible discontent out there with the way this campaign is being run. The fact that the discontent isn’t being recognized, isn’t being assuaged, is disturbing. People aren’t worried about the election, they’re becoming despondent about it. They’re not motivated to work twice as hard, they instead feel as if they’ve had the wind knocked out of them. This is far beyond a healthy skepticism as to whether Obama can win. While Obama’s attacks today on McCain are heartening, we need to see more of it. People need to see that Barack Obama has as big of balls as John McCain and, well, Hillary Clinton.

Obama’s going DOWN. McCain’s going UP.

    And…

Poll: Voters prefer McCain to handle Russia (Hot off the Trail, McClatchy)

By a large margin, voters think John McCain is better qualified than Barack Obama to handle Russia, according to a new poll released today by Quinnipiac University. That has helped McCain gain slightly on Obama, who still leads nationally. In July, Obama led by 50-41 percent, or 9 points. Now, Obama leads 47-42, or 5 points. Since the Russian fighting in Georgia put Russia back on the political radar scope, likely voters preferred McCain to handle such an issue by a margin of 55-27 percent, the survey found.

I have a feeling that Hillary might be the VP pick. It would explain Rendell’s recent decision to vote for her. It also explains why the Clintons are lying low right now, as well as the general secrecy surrounding the VP pick. Perhaps part of the point of text-messaging the decision to the supporters is to pre-emptively appease them?

It’s the kind of big-splash reversal that the Obama campaign could use to wrest itself out of its current stagnation. It will have a big impact at the convention — and it will also almost certainly ensure Obama’s victory in November. Fans on both sides will be justifiably enraged. But perhaps the party, as well as the Obama camp (which is desperate to win, and win at any cost), is gambling that the fallout will diminish by November?

  • Scranton4Hillary

I disagree with your premise that BO would not heed nor seek Hillary’s counsel if she is his
VP. BO is many things but he is not stupid. His ego and desire to go down in history as one of the nation’s greatest presidents will force him to seek out sage wisdom and advice. He’s not my cup of tea by any means but he would never cut off his nose to spite his face. He is all about making himself look good. Hillary on the other hand is all about the work and process. She would be such an excellent worker bee as the VP. She has always been about solutions to problems. With Hillary solving problems BO could go around the country/world promoting his “I am the One you’ve all been waiting for”—”The Obama Rapture Tour”. He’d know the country would be resting safely in Hillary’s hands back in Washington. I pray he makes the right choice—Hillary Clinton.

I know, Perry. I agree. I’ve been a lifelong Democrat and voted in all elections since 1964. I’ve worked diligently, phoning, canvassing and sending money to Dems for years. But I’m thinking of becoming an Independent.

I can’t see rewarding the Democratic Party for manipulating the primary to select their favored candidate. I can’t see this guy in office. He’s just like GW Bush, thin-skinned, punitive, arrogant and narcissistic. Hi Chicago thug and corporate connections are scary. IF he wins, he’ll sell all progressives down the river and do as he’s told (that’s one way in which he’ll be just like his hero, Reagan). He’ll also may be so bad as a President that he won’t last more than one term and turn everyone against the Democrats for the next twenty years. If he loses, at least the Democratic leadership who got us into this mess will be chastened and, at best, they’ll be thrown out. They will also know that there is a limit beyond which you can’t browbeat and ignore and bully your voters.

For these reasons, I’m probably voting for McCain.

Barack Obama deserves to lose and the DNC deserves to be kicked to the curb alongside of him. What once was a politcal party to be proud of has become a bottom feeding convention of liars and crooks. If the MSM hasn’t wised up by now, I give up. The nomination was stolen from Hillary Clinton and the thieves continue to steal. What other explanation is there for a Kentucky pro-Clinton superdelegate this past week being swapped by the Democratic National Party in exchange for a Barack Obama SD? This is happening right now.

Hopefully once all the dust is settled and the DNC sees what idiots and laughingstocks they are, we who saw the writing on the wall can come together to create a third party of moderates who still believe in fair and honest politics.

Such a ticket would surely be polling well into the high fifties…with McCain trailing in the thirties, and the balance eaten up by the fringers, with a smaller cadre of undecideds.

McCain would be the one struggling, on defense, demoralized, and forced, unwillingly, because he’s from a generation that doesn’t go for that kind of treatment of women, into vicious attacks against a woman he respects (she is one of the hardest working Senators on the Hill, and everyone there knows it). He’d look old and tired in contrast to Clinton, instead of looking wise and experienced in contrast to Obama.

The DNC did blow it. Badly. I’ve never seen an outfit that so easily snatches Defeat from Victory’s jaws.

A common theme with Obama supporters is that they’re not FOR Obama as much as they’re against everyone else. I understand the idealism of getting rid of the lot of them and replacing it with something new. But Obama is not new. He’s as corrupt a politician as you can find. No one can be FOR Obama without lying.

    2. Obama is for public financing. (Nope!)
    3. Obama is for NAFTA renegotiatino. (Nope! That one’s out too).
    4. Obama is against telecom immunity. (Nope!)

There’s lies about his abortion votes. There was the lie about the Iraq war being his toughest decision when it wasn’t even his decision to make. He wasn’t in the US Senate at the time so Obama was not able to make any such decision.

The list of lies goes on and on. You can’t tell anyone that Obama holds any position on any issue because he’ll likely change his mind.

Please Hillary, stay away from that ticket.

Dick Morris (I know many don’t like him) is calling Obama “the latter-day Jimmy Carter.” Too bad many of these kids weren’t alive when we had that gem in office-then they would get it! The way BO talks about foreign policy is very Carteresque–weak, weak, weak. It sounds good in a classroom, but it very unrealistic

My own mother had a fall over the weekend and also broke a bone (well cracked it) and dislocated her shoulder.

they suffer with no heat, and terrible conditions

One summer a group of people died in those buildings that Obama hustled illegal government funding for. Remember the news some years back when they were removing people in body bags. They died from lack of air conditioning during a heat wave and the area is so crime ridden they couldn’t open their windows.
Obama is a mack daddy hustler. That’s all. He’s a master deceiver-shuckin’ and jivin’ all the time. But he hasn’t fooled the PUMAS.

  • Anee

What a coward Diane is… afraid to take a stand so she can’t be held accountable by the California voters.

    Rove is a genious.

he got donna to think she was a big shot and kept encouraging her to destroy her party to remake it. all the while rove’s buddy’s on air force one were probably laughing with joy everytime he shared a part of their conversation.

I’m sure rove knew all about obama and that is why he kept telling donna what to do to remake the party.

Rove knew that we would never let hillary down and would fight until the end. Chalk another one up for karl. I think the democrats really underestimated the impact rove still has.

God Please help the USA! Keep Nobama the horses ass out of the White House!

Another Whiner, Repenting for His Sins! Some time ago, people tried to tell John Aravosis that he had his head up his ass in supporting Obama, but he refused to listen (fwiw JA is gay, and Obama had cuddled up to Donnie McClurkin and Kirbyjon Caldwell BEFORE JA drank, no, gulped, the Koolaid).

So NOW the asshole gets himself a little Buyer’s Remorse! Eh…fuck Aravosis–he’s part of the problem. He went for the pretty boy with the sunny smile, instead of the competent politician who actually had his best gay interests at heart. Stupid jerk! Ya reap what ya sow, fool. He’s one of the ones who will have to shoulder the blame, along with that clown Kos, for four years of The Ancient Mariner.

I have no sympathy for these “Oooooh, nooooooo…we’re gonna LOOOOOOOOOOOOSE the election!” idiots. Of COURSE WE ARE–that’s what Team Clinton has been saying from the git-go…that Obama CANNOT WIN IT. He CANNOT make the case to the American people and be convincing. And now they’ve awakened, and smelled the coffee, and expect us to give a shit that they’ve finally come to their hubris-laden senses? Fuck them, the whiney bastards! Where were they when they were needed? These are PUNDITS? More like PUDPULLERS, if you ask me!

I hold these fools responsible. They pissed away an opportunity to have a dynamic leader who will work her hardest for us, yes, FOR us, each and every day, AND to make history.

Nitwits. Swayed by a cute behind and a pretty smile, damn fools.

And all the idiotic last-minute talk of BALLS isn’t going to fix Obama’s problems. Odds are quite good that, yes, he HAS two balls. What he lacks, John Aravosis, you stupid twit, are judgment, experience, knowledge, strength of character, sincerity and humility. And you cannot fake ANY of those up close. From a distance, at a podium, before a big crowd, with a prepared speech and a working teleprompter, sure…but in intimate venues, with no one feeding the lines and phrases, the bullshit shines through.

I think if barry picks someone for VP candidate with foreign policy/national security/military gravitas it’s only for show – just to WIN – because he and the other neoprogressives, like the neoconservatives, are not the least bit interested in “what’s gone before” – things like experience and knowledge and credentials – so “yesterday,” donchaknow. A Biden or anybody of his ilk will be trotted out to prove his expertise in the campaign season and if the unthinkable happens and they steal the WH, the experienced one will be quickly put on the shelf – completely marginalized.

What’s actually valuable to barry and the other nutjobs is lack of experience, so they can have “new ideas” and “new policies” that will usher us into their “new reality” – neocon style. We all know how well that worked out for America…

  • AnnieO

I do! We can’t let that happen!! I think what is happening with the Dem party is something that everyone should be concerned with–not just dems/PUMAs. This is an assault on our democracy as a whole.

  • K. Wynne

    sfhillary,

no, it’s because the men pushing obama’s candidacy — Soros and Brezinski, in particular — have supported obama for the sole purpose of stopping Hillary from getting the nomination, not because they believe in his “hope/change message”. Only the most gullible of people would believe that such an incompetent candidate could ever get such support without an ulterior motive being the impetus.

They knew they could control an inept, neophyte like obama, whereas, a super smart, experienced, savvy candidate like Hillary would obviously be better prepared to handle the job and, therefore, would not be at their beck and call, nor trusted to do their bidding, in order to survive the overwhelming pressures of the job.

obama is merely a puppet for a few power elite who want to use the power of the presidency to advance their agenda of globalization/corporatization and to end a democracy of, for and by the people, forever.

Why else would the DNC have been so willing to blatantly use every “undemocratic” method possible to install obama as the democratic nominee and unleash the MSM, pundits and backstabbers to do everything they could to destroy her, if she didn’t step aside?

    Just follow the money.

Please go and peddle the ‘killing live birth babies’ rant elsewhere.

I am not an Obama fan at all, but this issue is complicated and your ‘take’ on it reminds me of the hysteria about Terry Shiavo being allowed to die or frozen ‘snowflakes’ being destroyed: full bore emotions with no intelligence applied to the discussion.

Late term abortions are rare and not done on a whim. And if the foetus does survive, no doctor or nurse is going to kill it. On the other hand, such a baby would be extremely premature and there is already a serious debate ongoing about the wisdom of extraordinary medical intervention to save very premature infants. They often suffer severe mental and physical disabilities, and their quality of life is probably minimal, and pain-filled because of all the procedures they require.

Some late term abortions are done after a diagnosis of anencephaly, or missing forebrain. The baby might breathe for even a few days, but it could never be considered viable at any stage of gestation.

To mandate doctors and nurses to try and keep a severely premature or deformed baby alive, despite what the parents want or what their own judgement would deem the best interests of said baby, is Draconian and unnecessary.

    Here’s the “whatever” part.

The truth is,your shitty candidate can’t win on his own chops, because he HAS no chops. He is an empty box and it shows more and more every day. As a media creation with a plastic jesus veneer glued to him, he was never intended to have such a long run, so much exposure of his empty box. His veneer is cracking away and the real nothing that he is has started to reveal itself. A man who hasn’t even got a clue what Putin is up to for starters. So you see, he needs a running mate with some real-life knowledge and actual experience, two things he has none of. However, being a Narcissist, this would only help him win–it will not ensure that he will actually LISTEN.

Furthermore, his 300 advisors consist of some pretty damned dangerous people.

Own your shitty candidate. He’s all yours. Stop dancing around it and trying to detour the fact that he is not only a loser all by himself, but thank GOD he’s a loser, considering how inept he is showing himself to be beyond his chants and teleprompter speeches.

The bills you are referring deliberately blurred the distinction between “infant” and “fetus”.

Illinois SB 230 stated, for example:

The terms “fetus” and “infant” are used interchangeably to refer to the biological offspring of human parents.

There was no wording of any kind referring to the stage of fetal development, at what point in a pregnancy termination might be undertaken, etc.

Passage of such bills would open the door on the felony prosecution of doctors who performed abortion procedures in general, except in situations where the mother’s health or life were at great risk and no other medical treatment existed.

“Partial-birth abortion” was also defined in such a way that the term applied to a far wider range of circumstances than the graphically horrible scenario pro-life activists like to portray. Any moral, feeling human being objects strongly to the scenario most often portrayed. The lie is that this is what any of those bills were actually about.

In Illinois, a “Present” vote is simply another way of voting against a bill. This is sometimes done when bills such as SB 230 come up. The people who sponsor such bills don’t expect them to be approved. What they’re attempting to do is to craft bills that can be easily misrepresented, so that consciencious “No” votes can be used to damage the image of those who have voted against them. The way that Obama’s lack of support for SB 230 is currently being used in an effort to discredit him is a perfect example of the tactic.

  • HillGirl

I agree with you, Tish, that Hillary shud steer clear of Obama. He blames everyone except himself for his poor performance. He does not have the expertise that we have always looked for in a candidate.
I need a president who will: truly oversee domestic issues that have been ignored the past 8 years and and set a path towards holding onto to our dwindling middle class; have the vision to see what our role in the world’s market shud be for the next 200 years; end our two wars. I’ve gotta tell ya – that’s not either BHO or JSM.
People are worried that if BHO becomes president, they will have to continue live in fear because he, like Bush, does not have the capacity to understand anything but a bully mentality.

That’s my dream, too! But my money is still on Lieberman for that job.

  • Duras

Hillary wouldn’t accept the VP spot even if it were to be offered. She wants to be president, not vice president. As for Obama, I can’t see him offering the VP spot to Hillary, given all that went on in the primaries and his knowledge that the Clintons don’t play second fiddle to anybody. It would be four years of “Peyton Place” in the White House if Hillary were his VP.

I think it’s probably gonna be Biden, and for the reasons Anderson Cooper lists. But Biden comes with his own set of baggage. As I’ve opined before, if there’s a bigger loud-mouthed asshole in all of Washington than Joe Biden, I can’t imagine who it would be. Wasn’t he the genius that suggested carving Iraq into three countries? Nice call there, Joe. Really.

Plus, this would leave the door open for McCain to pick a woman as his VP and peel off a lot of Democratic women voters.

Obama/taxes: remember the bs about seniors making 50K or less won’t pay any taxes, well Goolsbee just announced that’s for a 2 person household. How I interprete that is 1 senior making 25K or above is going to get hosed. The Wall Streeet Journal analyzed his tax plan & decided his “tax cuts” for lower income earners are really rebates to people who don’t even pay taxes. Got 5 or 6 kids? & don’t make any $$, don’t worry be happy, the taxpayers are going to enrich you big time. The 250K crowd will end up paying about 56%, now why should they bother?

But that is just my opinion. From the looks of his performance in the Faith Forum, I would say he has a very difficult time making up his own mind regarding critical issues. I think he’s the insecure type that would run to mommy for advice. Even worse, he’d run to Michelle.

    K. Wynne,

Yes, I share your take completely. Stupid, corrupt, empty, sexist…the man with no records and no history…Barry will simply be a tool. A step-and-fetch-it for the Oligarchs. Why Soros, Ziggie B., Warren Buffet and, recently, T. Boone Pickens are pushing Barry is because they want to privatize America. From natural resources to social security to the US infrastructure…ad nauseam…they will profit. It’s all about profit and power and the looting of our shared patrimony. Not to mention global wars.

I am disgusted. Our Democracy is on the brink of extinction. Our press is not free. The DNC has been bought and our votes, stolen. This nightmare we are experiencing is an American Fascist coup!

His stance during the Q&A looked, to me, to be dismissive. Just my take on it.

John McCain’s stance seemed to say, “I’m here to answer questions.”

Obarky’s stance seemed to say, “You know you’re privileged that I’m sitting here, right?”

Sorry Obamaboy. We’ve examined this upside down and inside out and the fact of the matter is that Barry was wrong. If he wanted to avoid being discredited he should have helped pass the bill. I’ve been pro-choice all my adult life. The horrors of this story are causing me to rethink what is going on in the medical community.

While we’re at it, I heard a rumor that Barry has invited a group of African’s to the convention. Make yourself useful and educate us on the matter.

  • Don

Not me! I changed my registration to independent following the DNC rules fiasco at the end of May and decided that as a protest to the DNC’s and party elites’ actions I will vote a straight republican ticket this general election. Whether Obama makes history or not, I certainly will as this will be the first time in my life I have voted for a republican candidate for president (recently turned 67).

From now on I will not be joined at the hip with any party and will only support individual candidates who I think are best for our country. Democrats and democratic candidates who stand silently on the sidelines and do not complain about the over throw of the democratic party IMHO do not deserve my vote any more than does Obama.

    I HAVE A QUESTION:

WHY IS IT THAT ALL OF THE MEDIA WHORES AND OBAMABOTS ARE SAYING THAT OBAMA NEEDS A FIGHTER, HE NEEDS HILLARY. IF NOT, HE WILL LOSE.

SHOULDN’T THE BEST CANDIDATE BE ON THE TOP OF THE TICKET??? IF OBAMA CAN’T WIN BY HIMSELF, THAT SAYS A LOT, DOESN’T IT?

HILLARY COULD PICK KERMIT THE FROG AS HER VP AND SHE’D STILL WIN. HELL, I’D VOTE FOR HER REGARDLESS OF WHO SHE PICKED, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, OR ALIEN.

THIS PROVES THAT HILLARY IS THE FIGHTER OUR COUNTRY NEEDS AND SHE SHOULDN’T BE FORCED TO CLEAN UP OBAMA’S SHIT JUST SO HE CAN WIN AFTER WHAT HE HAS DONE TO HER.

Have to disagree on two levels. First, some people indeed are one issue voters; and second, his position on the live baby issue does reflect on his morals and ethics (not overly concerned about live babies being cared for = under the bus with them, they don’t help me).

Agree with you that there are many, many issues that can be used against him but still the live baby issue is one of them.

Hillary Clinton is NOT going to be Obama’s running mate. The two are enemies vying for control of the democratic party.

I think the most likely scenario is Clinton is going to steal the nomination from Obama. Simply put, Obama is lower in the polls than any previous democratic candidate in living memory, at this phase of the election. Going into the convention with McCain having pulled even with him, with McCain’s momentum up and Obama’s down, there is no way he can win. Because of that, and because Obama and Clinton are essentially tied. And because her name WILL be on the ballot, the superdelegates are going to jump ship in a desperate bid to field a viable candidate. Obama is not viable. Not anymore….especially after his handling of the russian attack and invasion of georgia.

But Clinton is. I don’t think she can win. This infighting among the democrats has destroyed any chance of that. But she has a shot. Obama does not even have that.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Is Obama qualified to be Speaker of the House? A Supreme Court Justice? Majority leader of the Senate? A White House cabinet secretary of anything?

    No. No. No.

How the hell did he get so many people to believe he can be President of the United States.

He is not fit to be Alderman of even his racist baiting white-hating church.

Methinks Obama lives in an echo chamber which he thinks is real life. Woe to the electoral college vote count which will serve as his one and only reality dose. Another McGovern, Dukakis trainwreck for the Dems.

How crazy was it to put Dean and Brazile in charge when the Dems wanted and could have won anything they wanted this year? What a stinkpot they created.

They may have had 5000 inquries on their website ahead of time but no way were there 5000 people in attendance. Yet the Obama jack-booters were smuggly happy letting that lie lay.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I agree with your assessment. It’s a brutal power struggle.

I don’t want Hillary on his ticket…or even advising him. It will take four years of hard work now for her to reconstitute her candidacy and 2012 is it for her. Bring back Clinton power to the Democratic Party or it will be irrelevant for decades to come.

  • Soldier of Christ

The last comment here was interesting to read but so wrong. Hillary (love her) sold us out! Period! If she wanted to win- she would have dirty her hands when Obama started deleting her delegates by replacing them. He doesn’t have much of a choice. He would have to put her on his ticket. And half of you moaning about her will probably vote for the clown after all. This is not about saving our country like some of us- it is scorn because the woman is not on the ticket. She had a chance – she decided her party was more important than this evil man. No. Mccain will win with the faithful ones and a small percentage , like us, will put him over the top. If Hillary wanted this to be fair- she would have fought the stealing of her delegate. I believe they made a deal and only they know.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

McCain was right. Life begins at conception.

There is no question of this fact. The only issue is who has the priority rights between the mother and the live embryo during the first three months.

That is what Roe vs Wade is all about. It is not about life not existing at the moment of conception. All abortion decisions must be made in an environment of honor, sacred and awe because one is snuffing out the life of one in preference of the life of the other. For the first three months.

After that, the priority swings more and more in favor of the developing fetus/human being. As it should. Practice effective birth control is the only sane answer if you don’t want snuffing out a life on your own conscience.

McCain is wise and biologically correct. Obama is yet again a slimey equivocator with no core principles.

  • Ferdberfle

What I fear for both Clinton and Biden is that they would be shut out by Obama’s staff. Their expertise would gather dust.

And that is solely because Barack Obama does not have the WISDOM to SEEK their advice, I fear.

Oblahblah would just call a meeting around a big table with the usual cardboard cut-outs in attendance and then make his “decision”.

I think Hillary felt she could not afford to be seen as the one who took down Obama or she would never be able to recover the black vote for a 2012 run. I personally think this nomination is poisoned already and it is best to let Obama lose as bad as possible and let McCain be a caretaker for four years because he won’t run for a second term.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Josh should have gotten his wake-up call whem Obama stabbed him in the back on FISA.

Nope, Josh and TPM lost all credibility when he went in the tank so early for Obama and allowed his site to become one of the premier Hillary bashing websites. He had nothing to go on but the fake luster of the Obama campaign. Now he needs to repent in his leisure.

The damage is done and there is no undoing it. Josh and TPM exposed themselves for what they are: naive and partisan. Stick with Drudge.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Soldier: I’m not happy about Hillary even staying the Democratic Party. But I’m also sure that it’s more complicated that what you and I can see from the outside in. She has many supporters to consider on many levels of involvement.

I truly don’t think Hillary supporters will vote for Obama. I have no problem whatsoever voting for McCain and as stated earlier, this contest and its revelations about issues (infanticide for one) have given me reason to reassess my entire relationship with the Democratic party. I don’t think I’m alone.

On my way out after voting, I will fill out an exit poll and let them see – Dem crossed Party lines. That’s the best way I can give them the middle finger salute.

    Hillary or McCain ’08!!!

  • dee4hill

I would love to see her get the nomination and pick Harold Ford, Jr. as her VP. Have to admit I do not know a whole lot about him but from what little I have seen of him or read about him he seems be mainstream. Would be a slap in the face to Obama and could still help in the AA community.

However, think the democratic party is too stubborn to admit that it has made a bad mistake, so still expect it to go with Obama and whoever (hopefully not Hillary).

  • Lizzy

    Besides McCain is sooooooo OLD.

  • Boxer Mum 06

    Taken from the Hannity Blog:
Nancy Pelosi says that she is trying to save the planet and prevent global warming, but the reality is that, according to disclosure statements, in May 2007 she invested in T. Boone Picken’s clean energy fuels corp., CLNE, which is the sole sponsor of a proposal in California to funnel $5 billion in state funds and $5 billion in Federal funs to this corporation which will indirectly help them create a giant wind farm in the Texas panhandle.

An overlooked story in November of 2007 shows that the T. Boone Pickens plan involves the private control of water, which Pickens wants to be able to sell to big cities via giant water pipelines which will be built on land seized under eminent domain.

How did he do this? He did this by pushing through a “water district” which consists of only 8 acres of land and then applying eminent domain to expand that district and seize land from local ranchers which, in the end, puts vital water resources under his private control.

The Sierra Club, which you might think has an opinion that means something to Nancy Pelosi who just wants to “save the world”, had this to say, “We have real concerns about private control of water,” said Ken Kramer, director of the Texas Sierra Club. “Water is a resource, yet in some respects it is a commodity. It’s as essential to human life as air. That puts water in a different class.”

Pickens plans to sell 200,000 acre-feet from parched West Texas Staked Plains annually. His plan is opposed by water policy planners as economically infeasible. This extensive extraction will affect natural spring flows and the rural Texas Panhandle communities that depend on that water. It will also adversely affect family farming and sustainable development from Texas to South Dakota, according to opponents.

Pickens needs money and he has not been able to find investors to pay for a $110 Billion Bond he wants his new “water authority” to issue, therefore he is piggy-backing the windmill plan on to the water infrastructure development plan to use the money obtained for the wind farms in order to pay for the water infrastructure, which was his original goal.

While these plans were in the works as of November 2007, with the creation of this “water district”, the energy company, CLNE, was offered for public investment in an IPO in May of 2007, an IPO that was not advertised, but which resulted in Nancy Pelosi quickly jumping on board. Nancy Pelosi Purchased between $50,000-$100,000 in CLNE stock on May 25, 2007 apparently on it’s initial public offering.

It is hard to tell if the water scheme is the device being used to seize the land or if the wind turbine scheme is the means by which he will fund the water scheme, but no matter what the case may be, Nancy Pelosi will personally profit from whatever he does as an investor.

Nancy Pelosi is one of the richest members of Congress with a net worth of over US$25 million, which comes primarily from investments a large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, and, now, of course, stocks in CLNE.

While the stock was initially offered at $14 and is now valued below that amount, the low of $10 in early July of this year is bouncing back, especially in light of ads by Pickens and growing consensus that the Pickens plan will gain support, especially if Pelosi is firmly behind it.”

  • Boxer Mum 06

I keep hearing the words from Pelosi, the party will be unified,, Well the only way that can happen is if Clinton takes the VP job,and just before she hands her delegates over to Obama, he comes out on the stage, and says, no Madam Hillary Clinton, you deserve your delegates, and also mine, you won the popular vote, and it is you that should be the nominee. And than Obama ends up the VP>.

I just hope he doesn’t it up by doing something stupid with his VP selection. I respect Joe Lieberman immensely, but he would be a disasterous selection as VP for McCain. Michael Moore has decided that Caroline Kennedy will give the Obama campaign the “lift” it needs. From his open letter to her:

” What Obama needs is a vice presidential candidate who is NOT a professional politician, but someone who is well-known and beloved by people across the political spectrum; someone who, like Obama, spoke out against the war; someone who has a good and generous heart, who will be cheered by the rest of the world; someone whom we’ve known and loved and admired all our lives and who has dedicated her life to public service and to the greater good for all.

    That person, Caroline, is you.

I cannot think of a more winning ticket than one that reads: “OBAMA-KENNEDY.” ”

McCain at Saddleback said that congress doesn’t ever miss two things, vacations and pay raises. I thought it described Obama’s work ethic to a tee.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADAM PRESIDENT-08

Since Obama is announcing BEFORE the convention.. I FEAR it is Hillary. Only to shut her out at the convention because he FEARS he could loose to her!

I PRAY IT ISN”T…..I don’t want her used by him or to go down because of him. Somehow we need him out and her IN.

I was hoping a surprise victory at the convention.

YET if all of the news catches up to him….or …. if the potential dual citizenship disqualifies him… maybe she is in the best spot as VP choice to take over… who knows!

Kathy Sebelius, Governor of Kansas, as Red as state as there ever was. She couldn’t deliver Kansas in a million years. The only time in recent history that Kansas ever went for a Dem president was 1964 when Johnson blew Goldwater into oblivion. No chance of that happening this year. In fact, she’s not even that popular here in Kansas. She only got in because the Republicans were so divided between the Conservative and Moderate wings… when the Conservative won the primary, the Moderates went for her to freeze out the Conservatives. A familiar scenario in this election!

Have you ever seen the movie “300?” Will Obama be outflanked by the secrets of his past? Will the movie be in IMAX?

Sen Obama may have all those policy advisors but dont be fooled by the smoke & mirrors.

Ask who his most important foreign policy advisor will be.

I do not see Z Brzenzski (ZB) taking a back seat to anyone.

Does Sen Obama have the wisdom & experience to detect if/when he is being manipulated?

    Does he care?

According to the Saul Alinsky school of community organizing- it doesnt matter-as long as he can get these guys in his pocket so that he can do what he came to Washington DC to do…which is…??? Here I am stuck.

Check out my posts on http://www.windycitizen.com/2008/07/ask-a-community-organizer-what-is-community-organizing-anyway

What is Sen Obama’s decision making style?

Does he have a morale compass? Based upon his position on tnhe partial birth abortion ban…I DO NOT THINK SO. Everything for him appears to be about political expediency…

No one knows…WHo will he rely on the most in foreign policy? If I had to guess- it would be ZB.
(Whether Sen Obama realizes it or not)…

This is all crazy to me. We had a winner in HRC and we had this election won until obigot decided he needed to unite us. (Wonder how that is looking?)We had a qualified person in HRC who just happened to be a woman and now even with all the support she gathered, obigot will most likely chose a man as his vp nominee. Such disrespect and if he happens to chose a woman that would just about clinch a revolt at the convention. I say if obigot choses a woman other then HRC I say it is time for us to unite and form another democratic party.

Overall, you’d have thought that Industrial Light and Magic, Disney Imagineering or Pixar couold have cranked out a hologram candidate who was less obnoxious and odious than the Mahogany Bhagwan.

I think that it would be easier for those of us who are fed up with Dean, Brazile and the other Stalinists to simply re-register as Republicans and take over the GOP at the local levels.

My mother and grandmother would probably re-materialize from their ashes and haunt me, but SOMETIMES you just Declare Chapter 7 or get a divorce and move on with things…

  • Zee

First of all, that person is disrespectful personified. S/he does nothing but post that CRAP here, and always crap from the rankest of rightwing nuttery sources.

Second, if you don’t like abortions, don’t get one…go on out and adopt a kid if you are so concerned about abortions…but be sure to get a crack baby. If you’re not out adopting unwanted babies, stfu.

Third, it’s a non-issue. Morning after pills will make short work of the dinosaurs who haunt abortion clinics to hound troubled pregnant women. And talk about disrespectful! Women don’t just willy-nilly decide to abort near-term babies for the whim of it all, with doctors going along with it. These are women who WANTED these babies and there are traumatic reasons they have to end these late pregnancies.
So, yeah, Barky got one right, if he indeed does support these PRIVATE matters. But the fact of the matter is, no one knows because he plays both sides of every issue, including this one, so who knows if he’d protect women’s right, anyway.

  • Zee

Fantastic article, thanks for posting the link!

Whoa. Michael Moore has lost his damned mind. I quit reading his “ideas” for Obama after he decided that the misogynist pig should give a “gender” speech.

You know, for all us bitchez and hoz.

  • Linda K

    I’m with you Clinton fan.

  • Linda K

LDW I agree. Enough already about this topic.

  • Linda K

yes, Don. To allow the DNC “rulers” to get away with outright corruption and disenfranchising voters, will ensure they continue to do so. It is an unfortunate year for for those of us who have been loyal Dems over the years. Still if we don’t hold them accountable, then who will?

  • karen for Clinton

Yep, the church crowd have spoken up here in Northeast PA for a few months on this subject.

The letters to the editor of local papers have brought up this issue many times for months now.

When barky said “clinging to religion” he lost their votes. He showed in that one line that he thinks worship has something to do with bitterness and ignorance instead of deep faith.

They’ve been on top of his flips and lies daily.

    You and me both!

obama is a puppet. Every decision he makes will come from his handlers (Soros and Brezinski, and the other 300+ advisors).

It’s important to understand that obama CANNOT and WILL NOT go against the powers behind his “throne”. He is their “mouthpiece” and can only say what they want him to say. He expresses no independent thought. Hence the “ahhs and uhhhs” whenever he has to speak independently of a teleprompter or when he’s not “preaching” with platitudes.

Besides, it’s also evidenct that he’s only in this for the glory, which makes him the perfect puppet.

  • clik212

I don’t understand the penchant for wanting Hillary Clinton to not only humiliate herself by running as VP, but in doing this lowering her chances of running with any credibility in 2012.

Why would any Hillary supporter think that Hillary being the better statesman would take the job of hoisting that liar, crook and basically criminal. Have you no integrity? You might as well join the DNC with their desperate drive to the WH. Fortunately for some of us who still have wrinkled brains, the issues are not just the WH but the Constitution and the democratic process and principles. I’d rather have Hillary as President, most important, I don’t want that snake oil salesman to lead this country. Country before party.

  • Elizabeth Plumley

We shouldn’t stop until we own half the government and half the media and half the professorships. I waited 40 years to vote for a woman and they stole my vote. Obviously they are not going to share power. Don’t watch male journalists. Don’t give money to any company which is not manifesting parity now!!!! Men, Women and Children have human rights. We must all stand together. No more misogynists. No more CNN. No more MSNBC. No more whiney kids. No more whiney husbands. Feminist husbands, maybe. Yes feminist husbands, especially. Let them be the only ones who breed. Puma. Rrrrroooooaaaaaarrrr! Anderson, why did you not respond when the devil said that the Floridians deserved to be punished? Why did you laugh with Jamal Symmons at the little people? Do you think this pretending like you care now, will make us forget you’re one of the uber class? Bring on Campbell Brown or Christiane Aman Pour. Go home pretty boy.
