I’d hate to see McCain pick a conservative whackjob because let’s face it, that theocratic-nutjob base ain’t going nowhere. They always vote, and they always vote Republican. (That is what is so amazing about the PUMA movement. It’s a reliable, dependable base that has suddenly–and seriously–decided to heft its clout. The fundie whackazoids aren’t ready to do that yet.)

You are right. My family live in Plymouth,MN, the best city in US (NW suburb Twin Cities). And I don’t see support to Obama, no signs, no calls. By the way, unpopular Sen. Coleman (Rep.) ahead
popular comedian Al Franken (Dem.) by 7%.

And it is appalling to read that some Americans have such negative stereotypes of the Irish, still. Have you ever heard of the Nativist movement (I’ll give you a hint, they were an anti-Catholic, anti-Irish group in America)? You might check them out because it sounds like you would fit right in, Why don’t you try traveling a little bit, break out of your bubble, Buzz, and get to know the world beyond your stereotypes.

And, BTW, before the Bush Ad. we used to care about what the rest of the world thought of us. Aren’t you supposed to be a Clinton supporter? Don’t you know that the Clinton’s actually do care about how we, as Americans, are viewed by other countries?

The best case scenario would be to have Hillary be the nominee or a McCain/Clinton ticket. But that change may be too radial for many.

Zogby does favor Obama – too much – and so the picture may actually be worse for Obama than what’s being reported.

I don’t know of anyone who is voting for Obama including our favorite waiter at a cafe who’s 24. He says that Obama is a Mac Daddy and has no business screwing with the United States. So there’s at least one of Obama’s base that is flying the bird at Obama.

I’ve known quite a few Irish and Irish Americans. They are catholic, they drink for any reason and they make a great stew and throw great parties, but their political savvy has been rather limited, including the fiasco of the catholic/protestant wars that lasted about 100 years too long.

So the irish are weighing in on Obama? Who cares! And when Obama loses they’ll still all sit in the pub and drink to his defeat! Gotta love the Irish!
