Thankyou for this thoughtful Post. Last year my daughter ( a young filmmaker/actor/playwrite ) and I watched POV on PBS. She is now as big a fan of that show as I have been for years. They had an enlightening and provacative film about a young female soccer star who was the only palestinian on the Israeli national team. The athlete whose name I can't remember was so astonishing in skill that they compared her to Beckham. The film was about her father's struggle to support her despite cultural pressure. The love of these parents for their daughters is breathtaking when one considers the risk. In America we take so much for granted as both a society and as separate but UNEQUAL GENDERS. Who's potential candidacy and winning of POTUS would have really ROCKED the entire globe. Hillary Clinton's. Women around the world are hunted,maimed,raped,forced to breed,forced to marry,denied education, custody of children,branded,sold into slavery,mocked,ridiculed,denied status, fair pay,career opportunity, starved,denied healthcare research...the list goes on....And yet we are expected to not be a little pissed off about it ? We are expected to put out and smile and look good doing it ? I had hoped when my daughter was born....Things would have advanced so much more for her. It has for RACE. WHEN WILL IT BE BETTER FOR WOMEN....ALL OF US ? When will WOMEN UNITE FOR ALL HUMANITY ? WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR ?
