That sexism in the media occurred without one comment of outrage from any member of the DNC or leading Democrats is beyond acceptance. It is a call to political action.

That names of locker-room caliber were hurled repeatedly at Hillary in public, liberal, political blogs without any comment from blog owners or allegedly progressive Democrats is beyond tolerance. It is another call to political action.

That some progressive women and men of today had the audacity to believe that a woman could run for the highest political office in the land and be taken seriously for her efforts is something to be praised, not condemned.

So, no. Many of us are not just going to lie back and enjoy this travesty. We’ve taken up arms, declared our votes to belong to ourselves, and plan to take the only defense allowed in a democracy through the ballot box.

Plus, many of us see this candidate as seriously flawed. They say he’s a new kind of politician. Well, I believe it. It takes true audacity to trash FISA throughout a fiercely fought primary and then to casually, calmly turn around and vote FOR it, later.

That’s different, all right. I doubt I’ve ever seen a candidate believe he could get away with that much disconnect between his words and his actions.

In other words, I have no belief in anything the man says. And I refuse to vote for anyone who is capable of that much duplicity.

Just another attempt to shame us into falling in line. We are completely inoculated against “shame” since we have been called racists, oh for how long now?

Keep attacking us….that is definitely the way to get all us petulant little kids back in line.

Let me see. How long have men (and other women) told me to do exactly that. I am argumentative and a little combative. I was the same as a child and my mother used to tell me not to argue with my father. My first husband was happy I was going to college (for a while) and then started to resent it and sabatoge me. When I applied for my first job and it came down to two applicants being considered, the job was given to a less qualified man because he had a family to support. When I threatened to go to Affirmative Action, I was told that wasn’t a good idea and like a fool, I didn’t and began looking for another job. Candadites have asked for my vote in the past, but no one has threatened me or my choice until this year. I am not afraid. Not for myself or for Hillary. The only way to shut me up is to kill me and even then, I would win if I am true to my principles. The more I am told to sit down and shut up, the taller I will stand and the more noise I will make.

She must have just become engaged to a Congressman who gave her a two-carat diamond.

There are still younger woman who think they can get more by allowing men to treat them as inferior because they say they know in their hearts they are not.

Thats great, but those men will always think you are inferior and, if you keep letting them treat you that way, guess what…..You Are! No doubt if Obama called you “sweetie”, you would blush and giggle.

Thank goodness, for all the women over the centuries who have held their ground and course of action that allowed women to learn to read and write, go to college, become teachers, and the list is endless.

However, my very favorite is our right to VOTE.

Why is it all of a sudden not okay to stand up for what one believes? Wasn’t this country founded by very rebellious activists who stood up against mad King George? Why must a woman, conditioned by the same patriarchal culture we were and are all subject to, identify not with her gender but the abuser? This is pure self-loathing projected onto citizens( yes, citizens just like men are citizens)who are free to express themselves about the absolute corruption of the Democratic Party by BO and his gang. Dahlia negates women as human beings–I have seen this in higher education, women professors who have identified with their male counterparts so completely that they end up seeing women in the exact same way as some misogynists. It’s self preservation and they’ve sold out to ‘feel’ equal to the big boys. So I think that we Hillary supporters and PUMA members should take an article like this as the highest compliment for we have moved women like Dahlia to express the self-hatred of themselves (as women) by projecting it onto millions of citizens who dared to satnd up against the destruction of the Democratic process.

Seems to me Dahlia Lithwick needs a history lesson. The sexism that Hillary Clinton endured in her primary campaign and that her many supporters are still enduring today is nothing more than a modern day and non-violent version of what happened to Lucy Burns and 32 other women in 1917 in what has become know as the Night of Terror. After I saw what happened to Hillary this primary season by the DNC and the media I realized that sexism is still alive and well. In fact, sexism is tolerated more in this society than racism.

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers, as they lived only 90 years ago. Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote. And by the end of the night, they were barely alive. Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden’s blessing went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of ‘obstructing sidewalk traffic.’

They beat Lucy Burn, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air. They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack. Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging, beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the ‘Night of Terror’ on Nov. 15, 1917, when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson’s White House for the right to vote.

For weeks, the women’s only water came from an open pail. Their food–all of it colorless slop—was infested with worms. When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

Wow! I hardly know where to begin. Lady Macbeth, Snow White’s wicked stepmother, bitter madwomen, creepy literary types–and so it goes, Lithwick’s cast of characters who make up the wild-eyed drama known as “Hillary Harridans.” If, as Lithwick implies, the “vengeful madwoman” is a PUMA double, perhaps a boring one trick MSNBC pony is Dahlia Lithwick’s Doppelganger.

There’s a time honored tradition in most societies of respect for all those generations of mothers and grandmothers whose hard work and determination pave the way for the next generation. These “Paleozoic stereotypes” whom Lithwick refers to as “irrationally destructive older women” make it possible for future generations to receive a good education and to vote for their candidate of choice.

If I were Dahlia Lithwick, I would be more rattled by Barack Obama’s admission that if it comes down to a choice he will put his support behind Palestinan interests than I would be threateded by all those “Madwomen of the Blogosphere” who keep crying “Out damned spot!” In the case of Barack Obama for President, the spot/blight/pox is not imaginary.
