A Retraction

Recently we published a video of a PUMA member who claimed that the PUMA groups had raised approximately $10 million to help Hillary Clinton retire her debt. We are not sure how that amount was calculated. The actual amount raised in June was $2.7 million. We are 100% certain that the $10 million claim was sincere. However, it possibly harmed the campaign’s efforts to retire the debt because many people believed the claim, and were led to assume that she was well on her way to putting the debt behind her. Obviously that isn’t the case. You may donate to Hillary Clinton here.

  • Shaun

Can you clarify? Is the 2.7 million figure the total amount raised for Hillary for the month, or the total amount raised by those claiming to be PUMA members?

  • Tony Stark

one possibility of course is that the claim was a deliberate attempt at disinformation meant to cripple Hillary’s fundraising ability.

Obama Camp Has Many Ties to Wife’s Employer:

A few years ago, executives at the prestigious University of Chicago Medical Center were concerned that an increasing number of patients were arriving at their emergency room with what the executives considered to be non-urgent complaints. The visits were costly to the hospital, and many of the patients, coming from the surrounding South Side neighborhood, were poor and uninsured.

Michelle Obama, an executive at the medical center, launched an innovative program to steer the patients to existing neighborhood clinics to deal with their health needs.

That effort, in time, inspired a broader program the hospital now calls its Urban Health Initiative. To ensure community support, Michelle Obama and others in late 2006 recommended that the hospital hire the firm of David Axelrod, who a few months later became the chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.

Axelrod’s firm recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign — appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party “validators.” They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications.

One key recommendation from Axelrod’s firm: “Respond quickly to opposition activity.”

The medical center’s initiative provides a window into the close relationship between the Obamas, their associates at the University of Chicago and Axelrod, the strategist most central to Barack Obama’s rise. It also illustrates how that circle, and particularly Michelle, dealt with an intractable social problem that confronts many urban areas: How much care should large, nonprofit hospitals offer the poor in return for tax-exempt status?

    .

Both Barack and Michelle Obama have worked at the University of Chicago, a financial and intellectual powerhouse with 9,500 employees and a legacy of nurturing Nobel laureates.

Barack was a part-time lecturer at the law school for more than a decade, earning as much as $69,000 a year. Michelle was the founding director of the university’s community service center, working there for five years before moving to the medical center in 2001.

Shortly after Barack Obama joined the U.S. Senate in 2005, the medical center promoted Michelle Obama to vice president of community and external relations, and more than doubled her salary. She is now on leave from the $317,000-a-year post, in which she sought to bridge the gap between the wealthy institution and its poorer neighbors. The hospital declined to discuss the budget for her program or her input into budgetary decisions.

The vast majority of political contributions from university employees have gone to Democrats, and over the last nine years they have donated at least $373,000 to Barack Obama’s campaigns, records show. The university’s executive suites are home to a number of the couple’s closest friends and financial backers.

The medical center’s chairwoman, Valerie Jarrett, is a close friend and top adviser who travels frequently with Barack Obama. One of Barack’s best friends, Eric Whitaker, is executive vice president at the center and is now in charge of the Urban Health Initiative. Hospital board member Kelly R. Welsh is executive vice president at Northern Trust Co., which extended the couple a $1.3 million home mortgage shortly after Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate. Dan Shomon, Barack Obama’s former campaign manager, is a university lobbyist. Jarrett, Whitaker, Welsh and Shomon all declined to be interviewed or did not respond to requests.

    .

In December 2006, the medical center hired a public relations firm, ASK Public Strategies, to help sell the Urban Health Initiative. ASK is co-owned by Axelrod, Obama’s chief campaign strategist.

ASK was selected on the recommendation of Michelle Obama, Sher and Jarrett, according to Sullivan, the hospital spokeswoman. “Axelrod has a love affair with UC, and is arguably the best in the country at public affairs,” Sullivan said in an e-mail.

ASK started work in January 2007; the next month, Barack Obama launched his campaign.

You have to remember we did a money bomb on the 4th of july as well as when we were led to believe by the DNC that they were using Hillary’s debt to keep her name out of nomination, later in the month of July.
We were told the numbers for July wouldn’t be available until the end of Aug. I’m not sure those numbers are out yet.

  • AnnieO

I was at RD during that drive, and many people were giving multiple contributions of $50.

I’m hoping those numbers are much bigger.

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=tristkiss trist

Will stated we raised between 6-10 million a portion of that was given in Jun, the bulk in July. When we got the Jun number that included only part of what we donated. As far as I know we don’t have July numbers yet. The total will be a combination of both months total. But you would have to ask Will for the final amount once the numbers are released.

  • AnnieO

$2.7M is nothing to sneeze at.

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=tristkiss trist

I believe they will. I was on here during the second drive, and was tallying up some numbers from just a few people who had donated. And before I left, it was already up to around 1400.
I KNOW we made a dent in that debt! :)

  • Andy

Will was just relating to people what sources close to HRC’s camp were telling him…Something is indeed odd.
CNN says the FEC reports for July are 2Mill and for June 3Mill. Don’t now what is going on….

It is very obvious that money is the root of evil. The direction Obama & Michelle are going is the path to destruction. DNC is now under their spell because of money. Money & more money, that’s Obama & Michelle. He is buying everybody’s souls.
    God Save America !!!

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC
  • NoBO

According to CNN, Hillary raised near $3m in June and $2 in July, $5m total. The estimate was for $6 so WB wasn’t that far off. The PUMA effort took place in the closing days of June and the first few days of July.

I’m not sure how the numbers tally but those contributing to Hillary’s debt could target that directly rather than giving to the general campaign. Are the numbers totaled? I’m not sure how this stuff is reported.

  • hill4pres

Question. Does anyone know if we already maxed out, are we still allowed to donate?

  • NoBO

    Damn good question!

  • Ted

The claim was made by Will Bower on Fox News. If it was deliberate, then it is a case of PUMA undermining Hillary.

  • Andy
  • usaproud

Freerepublic.com is stating the McCain is picking Mitt Romney aa VP…sources 2 in the know Rep….this will win him Michigan…Michigan likes Romney and they remember his father who was a decent guy and did a good job…I think it will be a good pick if it is true

  • RepublicanChick

    Ted:

I don’t know Will Bower personally, but he did not seem like the type of person that would undermine a woman he obviously admires.

With the slowness of donation numbers being shared with the public, it is any wonder that information is sometimes slow coming out.

I believe to state that it was “deliberate” or even assuming that it was “deliberate” is insulting to Will Bower and the many faithful PUMAs.

  • imustprotest

  • Ted

July numbers are out. Hillary’s total debt was reduced by $1.3 million in July. That’s through the end of the month. PUMA itself raised a total of $85,600 over the July 4th weekend.

  • imustprotest

wow Ted! You are really studying the PUMA numbers and Hillary numbers. What’s wrong??? Obama numbers (polling) too depressing for you?

  • Andy

YES you can donate; you as an individual max out when you reach $2,300 in donations to a single candidate.

SusanUnPC put the link above in here post where it says “HERE” at the end.

  • RepublicanChick

If Romney is the VP choice, this will be a disaster for many Republicans like myself who will not vote for Romney under any circumstance. Disaster, disaster, disaster!

I was pinged to the thread and I’m hoping these 2 sources are wrong.

  • Uña de Gato

Off topic, but here is a video on Ayres that I think a lot of people knew was coming down the pike:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m89m0pC_bpY

  • Ted

I did not say it was. I was responding to a comment that questioned if it was deliberate. I just clarified who would be at fault if it was deliberate.

I pointed this out on the day he said “We don’t need Obama supporters to retire Hillary’s debt. We will do it ourselves.” That is a very stupid thing to say, and a reckless thing to say about someone else’s money. Hillary now has very little time to raise the money to pay herself back or else she has to eat it. I doubt she is too pleased.

  • Hope Floats

The claim was also made before the FEC weighed in. He said the total had yet to be confirmed, but it looked like it would be 10 million.

  • Kelley

I saw that interview, he said the amount raised was between 4 and 10 million, but he would like to think it’s 10 million and wanted to go with that number.

There’s no way it’s undermining Hillary. even at 10 million it was less than half of what she owed.

After that everyone said keep donating to Hillary because the number wasn’t certain.

  • Ted

    Obama raised $51,000,000 in July.

No, I pointed out the discrepency in Bower’s numbers a while back and was attacked for doing so. All I am doing is stating facts, nothing more.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

You can donate $2,300 for the primary only. Hillary signed up for Pubic Financing for the General Election, so $2,300 is the max contribution.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

So you would allow Obama to win because you are not so keen on Romney?

  • Eric T.

I remember when democrats used to call this kind of stuff for what it was – a lie. “The Amount was sincere” I don’t even know what that is supposed to mean?

I was linked to this site from a google search on this story and was hoping for an actual explanation – but instead I find some of the greatest denial I have ever witnessed. I watched the interview and the claim was 10 million from Puma over a limited period of time.

Hillary raised total of about 5 millions for BOTH june and july – and I guarantee you most of that come from people like me who gave some money to help retire the debt but think PUMA folks are a bunch of delusional egomaniacs, or republicans, which are about the same thing.

  • Hope Floats

I think pro-life conservatives have a problem with a McCain / Romney ticket. Neither is considered to have strong enough conservative credentials. I think McCain will choose someone else, but who knows?

  • RepublicanChick

McCain is pro-life and Romney has switched positions before and I have Obama nightmares trying to recall where he stands at this moment.

I’m not a one issue voter, but I can’t stand Romney and I doubt many Hillary supporters will like him either.

  • imustprotest

Giuliani and Romney to crash Democrats’ Denver party
    Thu Aug 21, 2008
    By Andy Sullivan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – When Democrats gather in Denver next week to nominate Barack Obama for president, they’ll be joined by such uninvited guests as Republicans Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney.

The two former presidential candidates will be among two dozen or so Republicans in the city hoping to get their party’s message out during a week dominated by Democratic festivities.

Their slogan? “Not Ready ’08: A Mile High and an Inch Deep,” a play on the nickname for the high-altitude city in the western United States.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Obama’s rival for the November 4 election, is expected to keep a relatively low profile that week, though he is scheduled to appear as a guest on “The Tonight Show” talk show on Monday.

  • RepublicanChick

    Johnny:

If McCain chooses Romney, I will be almost in the same situation as many of you are facing if Hillary is added to Obama’s ticket.

I honestly don’t know what I will do. I hate Obama, but Romney ranks right up there with him in my viewpoint.

Therefore, send some good vibes that it is someone other than Romney. I’m hoping these sources are provided by the Huckabee insiders to get folks motivated to tell McCain absolutely not.

Romney would then be in position to be the head of the ticket in 2012. Yuck!

  • imustprotest

I agree with you Republican Chick but Johnny has a point…look at the top of the ticket, do you really want Obama to be the Prez or McCain?? Vp is nothing unless the unthinkable happens…which by the way is very rare, so the choice excluding vps is Obama vs Mccain.

  • HARP

I know what is at stake, but McCain would make it a whole lot easier if Romney wasn’t at the top of the ticket. Although, the other nightmare would be Huckabee.

    So what’s a chick to do? :-)

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Not so fast Buckeroo. I’d like to see more independent reports than one from in-the-Obama-tank Newsweek. And, the certificate itself isn’t his only problem…it has to do with Mommy’s age and his non-citizen father. We’ll see. The way things are going, he’s about to have a problem around every corner.

BTW: Hannity is offering a $1,000 donation to millionaire Barry’s brother in Nairobi, living on $1/month. I think we should tell him about that rickety school in Kenya that never got the $6k for operating/renovation expenses from their fellow Luo tribe member.

Actually, there was a report that showed her debts paid off the end of July and showing a million in surplus. I saw the website and it was official, but will have to try to find it. At any rate it was a little strange because this was around July 20, 2008 and the date of the report was July 29, 2008. I don;t know what happened, but Will believed that showed the debts paid and the campaign in the black!

wtf, do you want an idiot beer buddy to be president. If you think you can be leader of free world, you already think too great of yourself. Anybody who runs for president is by default arrogant, else he will be treated like trash on the international stage. Nuts like you are the ones who put Bush in the office. And as far as inexperience goes, BO has more elected experience than Bush and even Hillary, a fact which I know you guys will never care for because your minds are just shut out with prejudice.

I’m in MN and Pawlenty is scum. It will kill me if he’s VP, but he still is a better option than Obama in any form. I hope McCain doesn’t pick him because we had that 35W bridge collapse here a year ago. Pawlenty also plays word games. He said no new taxes, but he allows fees. Same as taxing just sounds different. He might actually be a good VP pick for Obama! LOL! I think the bridge collapse would not help McCain’s campaign at all.

Interestingly, the head of the DOT here was fired after the bridge collapse because she knew it was deemed unsafe, but didn’t schedule it to be repaired for 10 years! Her name is Carol Molnaw (not sure of the spelling-sorry) and she is our leutenent Governor so if Pawlenty gets VP, she will become Governor. Odd isn’t it how in politics you can get fired because people die, but then if all goes well, you can then get a promotion!

  • http://www.rationalpsychic.wordpress.com rationalpsychic

This is one Clinton supporter issue that sticks in my throat. I guess if you want to give money to someone who loaned her campaign MILLIONS of her PERSONAL wealth, that’s great. Me, I’m still trying to get health care and a lot of you are dragging your feet on the issue in the name of your preferred candidate. I will also be calling the local food shelf tomorrow because my kids are coming for the weekend and I don’t have enough to feed them while I’m waiting for the school year to start and my paraprofessional job to start up again.

So, Clinton is a public servant first and a politician second, eh? Then how about if she encourages folks to work for these issues that affect those of us with the least? Let her retire her millions of debt on her speaking fees. Have you all lost the forest for the (Clinton) trees?

Excuse me? You are a raving idiot. BO has no experience, has no accomplishments and has more in common with the Bush that entered the WH in 2000 than any other comparison. No we don’t want another Bush and that would be NObama.

This lying piece of trash is not fit to even be invited to the oval office as a guest. Which, if McCain feels kind, he might get to do some day.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

How long had he been Governor when that happened?

I still think that the only contender to actually look and seem ready to take the reins, should that ever be necessary, would be Romney. I’m not big on Mormonism but at least they believe in living a clean life and seem to value having some refinement in life. For me, that’s about 10,000x better than letting that Chicago criminal low life into the WH.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I think Hillary is genuinely loved by people on the PUMA sites and I also believe that everyone has done their best to help fund her historic run. No one should feel badly about not donating. Times are strange for many of us.

I’m not worried about her ability to take care of business. She’s got one heck of a book from this experience and it really does need to be in print after the election…no matter who wins…but especially if McCain wins. Retiring Barry, I think would give her more freedom to tell it all. If we’re still in the clutches of the DNC and Obama, I think we’ll look back nostalgically to the Bush days as freedom. He’s as much or even more of a threat than Bush…and I never thought that possible.

  • noproblama

She has $20+ million in the “cash on hand” figure in those reports that can only be used in the GE, or for her next Senate campaign, or returned (if the donor requested). That makes it look like available funds exceeds the claimed total debt. Truth is, she stills owes vendors $11 million and is taking a loss on the additional $13 million she loaned herself.

  • HillStar

The numbers weren’t accurate and didn’t come from reliable sources. The source WB and PUMA weren’t using any reliable measure to take claim for the money raised. Clicks on a website or an E-mail do not automatically translate to a donation.

Bottom line, Hillary and her finance team always have a strategy to raise money and to make announcements when it will work to her advantage. When Hillary suspended her campaign and encouraged her big donors to give to Obama, there was an opportunity to get his big donors to be grudgingly send her a few $2300 checks. Announcing that the $10 mill had already been raised and that Clinton supporters neither needed nor wanted help from Obama’s donors sabotaged the effort to pay off her debt quickly.

Now that there is some buyers remorse before the convention, Supers will look and see if a switch is pragmatically possible. If Clinton had payed off her debt and could get some new out of that now, she would look financially strong enough to pass the ball towards. Her debt isn’t paid off and while what she raised could have been spun to make her look strong, the early leak of a way over inflated figure makes what was raised seem unimpressive.

  • RunningDogLackey

The FEC reports that total contributions from July 1-July 6 were approximately $85,000. That’s it — including all PUMApac coalition contributions. These ARE the numbers for July. They aren’t going to get bigger.

  • YouGuysAreUnbelievable

These other organizations are taking money for scam purposes and are not holding true to what they say.

PUMA makes sense, but do the right thing. We already have another scam candidate named Obama in the mix. We don’t need to make our efforts non-futile.

  • RunningDogLackey

    Worst fucking governor EVER.

    EVER!!!

Plastic hair, creepy teeth, he looks like the Ken Doll of the Living Dead…plus, he’s got all those strapping sons who are too chickenshit to serve in the military. He’s a cretin, and the Magic Mormon Underwear business and his affiliation with that religion WILL be a distraction. If McCain wants to siphon away Clinton’s votes, picking that sleazeball used car salesman type guy isn’t the way to do it. The guy looks and acts like a sharp-talking con man.

The nitwit hired ILLEGAL ALIENS to groom the lawn of his Belmont home–and it’s pretty clear that he HAD to know about it. His wife gave the Guatemalans ice water and practiced her Spanish while handing it out–what a sport.

He has a HORRIBLE record; was missing during EVERY state emergency; was penny wise and pound foolish (example: He line-item vetoed $25 million in tunnel inspections–result was a panel fell on a couple of newlyweds, crushing the bride to death, which was devastating to her family and resulted in a MASSIVE settlement); he was a smarmy asshole who could not come to ANY accomodation with the legislature and as a consequence was an incredibly ineffectual governor; he spent more time in his lake home in NH than he did in the state, he started running for President immediately after he took office (hired people and bussed them in to vote for him at State Fair straw polls–no one likes him), he spent millions and millions, and got so few votes it wasn’t funny…. and there is SO MUCH FODDER to be used against him, because he really SUCKED as a governor and he comes across as a sleazebag. When the shit hit the fan (floods, fires) he ran away.

Horrible choice. Horrible!!! If the rumor is correct, McCain’s made a big mistake. He’s got way too many homes, too…and he never spent a 4th Of July in the US until he was SIXTEEN (they summered in CANADA).

Oh, and then….there’s SEAMUS, the Irish setter who shit himself in pure fright. Google Romney and the dog on the roof of the car–for TWELVE HOURS.

He tortured that animal….and his stupid family thought it was a laugh riot.

The O supporters really helped Hillary with her debt, didn’t they?

    What a bunch of HS…

The Obots crow about the $51 mil raised in July. Well, they should thank Hillary for that, she brought a lot of dough to his campaign.

He will need more than that though. He will have to spend at least 3:1 to maybe, possibly win a leaning state like CO…

Americans will not elect someone they do not know, and his package has too many question marks all over it. He is just throwing his supporters money away on his marketing plan IMO. He should have stayed in the senate and made a track record for himself, something tangible that Americans can believe in. Hope and change coming from a flip flopper does not inspire confidence.

Lastly, yes, Will has egg on his face. Considering the laundry list of lies that most politicians get away with (including Obama), I will forgive him for his over-enthusiastic and misguided claim.

There is no way on the planet to know how much money puma raised…only general numbers, but even those are likely to be wrong.

Many people donated via links to Hillary Clinton. com, from all over the country. They made individual contributions.

I’m not following this as much as others, but why does Hillary have more than 20 million dollars ROLLED over to run for senator or president in 4 years? Can those monies be transferred to her new HillPac?

I do not care about the BC… It is interesting that this was debunked after the trip to Hawaii though.

BC aside, Obama has plenty of other issues that make him unelectable.

Here is a thought, maybe Bush will give us one parting gift. Some things GWB may have done to help prevent the chameleon Obama from winning more states than McGovern:

    1. Bush was a cash cow; now, being a $$ magnet should ring warning bells for anyone.

    2. Having a strong VP pick to make up for your weaknesses in the GE does not translate into making up for them once one is installed in the WH.

    3. Question fatigue in a candidate means less access to the WH if he wins…

    4. If you are not with me, you are against me. Obama, has the same attitude.

    5. Completely ignorant about foreign issues. (Campaign banners at the wailing wall…)

There are more parallels that mark Obama as BushIII, feel free to add to the list.

You also promised to deliver a big protest at the Wardman Marriott and hundreds/thousands of protesters. Your little event had to be moved to an effing Holiday Inn because it only drew 60 old hags and a few LaRouchies. FAIL!

Your convention protests will also be an EPIC FAIL!

So keep on telling us that Obama is going to lose. Keep ignoring the state level stats, keep avoiding sites like 538, and continue to burry your heads in the sand. I’ll be back in November to laugh at your sorry, ALWAYS WRONG, and PERPETUALLY FAILING assess again, after Barry O wins. LOSERS! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Wait a minute I just checked the figures for June against the figures for July and they are exactly the same.

    June: https://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.php?cid=N00000019&cycle=2008

    July: http://query.nictusa.com/pres/2008/M8/C00431569.html

    So how does that work?

I will not vote for Ibama no matter who he puts on the ticket.

Hillary or anyone including God himself could not make Ibama a better choice. A piece of crap is still a piece of crap no matter if it is displayed next to the finest gemstones and gold.

Because, no matter who Ibama runs with, Ibama is still the one sitting in the Oval office if he gets elected.

    It is not a Co-presidency.

  • HotGreen

Instead of getting the facts straight, you guys would much rather “report” on “facts” that have not been substantiated. There is far to much time spent bending the truth and stretching lies. There is NO credibility on this blog. Only twisted lies and innuendo.

    Sad! Really, really sad!

BTW, I truly think the ring leaders on this blog are Republicans. You could care less about getting Hillary out of debt.

Good luck with the next half-brained, made-up stories about Barack Obama. Spending all your time trying to derail him and now look, your girl is still in deep doodoo.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

The COLB isue is not dead.

NEWSWEEK: “The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. We tried to ask the Hawaii DOH why they only offer the short form, among other questions, but they have not given a response.”

In Hawaii, anyone can claim they were born there, and submit evidence years after the birth to obtain a late “Certification of Live Birth”.

“Who is Eligible to Apply for Late Registration? As provided by law (HRS §§338-15, 338-29.5), the following persons may apply for late registration: Any person born in Hawaii who is one year old or older and whose birth has not been previously registered in Hawaii, or that person’s parent, guardian, next of kin, or older person acting for that person and having knowledge of the facts of birth may request the registration of a late certificate of birth.”

I do not think it is unreasonable to ask for the original hospital birth certificate or the other documentation that was submitted to Hawaii DOH.

It is possible that Ibama was born somewhere other than Hawaii, and later applied for the COLB. A sworn affidavit from his grandmother would be enough evidence to satisfy Hawaii DOH.

Since Ibama was in Seattle only weeks or days after being born, it is possible that he was not born in Hawaii.

The Hawaii DOH COLB is not conclusive evidence. I’d like to see the hospital birth certificate.

Even if Ibama was born in Hawaii, his mother registered his nationality and religion as Indonesian, and Islamic. His own mother identified Ibama as Not a US citizen.

Which makes Ibama a DeFacto Foreigner. A POTUS must be, as the Founders intended, a LIFELONG US Citizen without exception.

The Founding Father’s knew that the loyalty of the President to the US Constitution was paramount to the posterity of this new democracy. Such loyalty was deemed so vital, that they included the clause
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

This distinction is magnified by the different standard for Congressmen and Senators. A Congressman need only have been a citizen for seven years, and nine years for a Senator.

“No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have been seven Years a Citizen of the United States”, and “No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States.”

Loyalty was so vital for the Executive that the Founders wanted a president who was a citizen when he passed from the womb and until his death, someone who’s loyalty to the US and Constitution would never be in doubt.

So, even with a Hawaii COLB, Ibama still has constitutional problems with becoming President.

And, even if he could overcome that issue, Ibama is still an inexperienced dilettante, with problematic associations, bad judgement, worse breath, and indecisive chronic flip flopping.

    Is Ibama POTUS material? NOPE

“July numbers are out. Hillary’s total debt was reduced by $1.3 million in July. That’s through the end of the month. PUMA itself raised a total of $85,600 over the July 4th weekend.” (Ted)

Actually, there’s no breakdown of how much of that $85,600 was PUMA’s contribution.

Here’s the money quote, directly out of Will Bower’s mouth:

“We PUMAs have generated a lot of income to help pay down Hillary’s debt. We have it on good authority that our push, our July 4th push, generated from as little as six million and up to ten million dollars to pay off her debt.”

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/NO-WE-WONT

And here are the July 1 to July 6 total contributions:

    July 1: $30,979.56
    July 2: 19,624.72
    July 3: 9,839.16
    July 4: 6,446.36
    July 5: 15,919.73
    July 6: 2,792.90
    Total: $85,602.43

Thus, Will’s “July 4th push” generated just a tad short of $6-10 million he claimed. By, oh, $5,914,397 (using his low end) or $9,914,397 (using his high end).

Anyone curious on what “good authority” Will was basing his claim?

The question is Why is this women who was forced to get out of the race and whose campaign is still in debt still beating both Obama and McCain in national polls?

According to an NBC/WSJ poll (August 15-18), Obama is at 45% vs. McCain’s 42%. In other words, Obama is within the margin of error.

But Sen Clinton is at 49% vs. McCain’s 43%!!!! She’s 6 points ahead of McCain, very much outside the margin of error!!

I guess HRC’s debt hasn’t affected her ability to kick the Repug candidate’s ass this November.

And why is she still ahead by 6 points over McCain nationally. BTW, Obama is only 3 points ahead of McCain nationally. (See my post above.)

HA! HA! Looks like this debt issue is not the end all for HRC or the PUMA movement after all!

    Here’s another clue for her.
    Money does NOT equal votes.

  • http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/080820_NBC-WSJ_Released.pdf trixta

So true, yesterday CNN reported that of HRC’s supporters 27% will still vote for McCain while 21% are “undecided” or will vote for s/o else! Nothing has really changed since HRC was forced out of the race.

These numbers are pretty scary for the Obama “folks”! HRC’s debt issue is nothing but a red herring!

  • http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/080820_NBC-WSJ_Released.pdf trixta

Yes, but many of us donated directly from HRC’s site, rather than from the PUMA site because it was more convenient! Still, if the figures are correct, a total of $5 Mill for June and July is nothing to sneeze at!

He spent more than he took in and he’ll need to continue to pimp himself out for more money from his adoring fans while John McCain takes the public funds and campaigns.

Face it – you have a classic rotten ROI from your candidate dude.

  • dg

    “…OBummer’s fundraising is failing miserably…”

How so? He’s thus far met his fundraising goals for both June and July, averaging $50 million each month.

Since McCain’s fundraising totals for July was near half Obama’s amount, I’m curious how you define “failing miserably.”

Would love to hear an intelligent, lucid reply.

  • http://www.lukeandjoe.com Ash McG

Well, this is a good start. How about retracting some of the lies you’ve been shoveling? A partial list follows:

Obama’s birth certificate not valid (debunked by factcheck.org)
Michelle’s whitey tape (can’t really debunk shit somebody just made up)
Ayers as an unrepentant terrorist (libel at best; Ayers does not have a criminal record, and is only “unrepentant” of his opposition to the Vietnam War. He is indeed repentant of the means they used, but that’s not as interesting a story, so let’s ignore that)
Obama somehow “stole” the nomination (seriously, get some perspective, people)
Obama less qualified than Hillary (I never did quite get what Hillary had done that was so special, but I’d say going from “inevitable” to “runner-up” combined with her complete inability to run a campaign disqualified her)
Rev. Wright as some sort of anti-American decorated former Marine with a letter of thanks from President Johnson
“Crooked” dealings with Rezko (investigated, and investigated again, but no wrongdoing ever found)
McCain somehow being qualified to be President (I don’t know where this myth came from, but the idea of John McCain being a Senator scares the crap out of me already)
The list goes on, and on, and on, but I’ve got a bad headache. Kudos to you for acknowledging error where you see it, but let’s work on some real honesty.

  • http://www.lukeandjoe.com Ash McG

And why do I say that? She owes 20 million, and you PUMA pieces of cr.ap have not paid it off. If there were 18 million of you, it would be a buck a head. But, actually there are 20 old women with cats and menopause and Larry, and that’s the PUMA movement.

John Glenn, a real hero, ran for president. His campaign ran up a debt of 2.6 million, and he never paid it off. he also never ran for president again.

Boy, that’s exciting. If that worked for him, it will do the same for Hillary. She will NEVER RUN FOR PRESIDENT AGAIN.

  • Ted

You have to take into account the fact that there has been no opposition to HRC in the last two months. Had she been the frontrunner, she would have had all the attacks come her way.

Back when the two were in the race, they polled pretty even relative to McCain. And, iyou look at state by state analysis, Obama is still in very good shape in term of electoral college. That could all change the next few weeks will be very interesting, but it is a real stretch to say that Hillary would, for sure be doing better than Obama. Would she be doing close? Yes. The primary was very close. But someone had to win, and it was Obama. So that’s who the democrats are going forward with.

I will say this, if Bill and Hillary came out strong for Obama, it would help a lot. But based on what has happened to date, I do not expect this to happen. If the party stays divided to the end, it will be the end of both HRC and Obama’s careers in terms of ever being leaders again. Then need to get together and get the job done.

  • Dan

Hi everybody. I’m new to this website, which I found in trying to track down contributions.

I’m a Democrat, I will vote for Obama, and I gave to Hillary to retire her primary debt. My wife and I also donate to Obama’s campaign. My political views are liberal and are very similar to both Hillary’s and Obama’s.

I was an early voter in the primary process, and did not cast my ballot for either. But, frankly, I would have been happy with either candidate. I genuinely fear that the Republican Party would like to see the country turned into a banana republic, with wealth concentrated into the hands of the very rich (Bush tax cuts, supported by McCain), and an attempt to create a one-party state (Karl Rove’s use of targeted political persecution to throw Democrats in jail for the most dubious or reasons).

I don’t really get my news from blogs, mostly CNN and newspapers. So I don’t follow prompts that a lot of politically committed people like you all do.

And so, honestly, I did not know that there was a group purporting to be loyal Democrats but who ignore their candidate’s support of the winner of the primary process, and who are willing to discard every political belief out of hurt over their primary loss. I’ve worked (at a low level) for campaigns since Albert Gore’s 1988 run. I remember how much it hurt to lose that one, and others in which I saw a stark difference between my candidate and another. Actually, I’ve never voted in the presidential primary for the eventual winner!

But I recognize that this is the way things work, and I’m a strong believer in the government’s role in helping people. I’ve always adored Hillary’s passion for advocating for people who aren’t the rich ones, and I’ve found much of that in Obama. What a blessing, to have such smart candidates on our side.

That’s a tough thing to adjust to, after you have given your all. Working in New Hampshire in 1992, knocking on doors and freezing my butt off in Nashua, I was often really frustrated with supporters of one candidate in particular, who went out of their way to portray our candidate and us lowly canvassers as the lunatic fringe. I was hurt enough by our loss to be furious and resolve never to vote for that guy, because of the folks who worked for him. His name? Bill Clinton.

And in October, when he spoke and Faneiul Hall, guess who was there cheering for him? Me, and I never regretted it. And I learned that you do your best for your candidate, but ultimately we’re involved in Democratic politics because we want to help people, and we put our pride aside and vote the way that will best help people.

The weird term calling Obama’s supporters “robots” is wrong. And the baiting on their end is wrong.

Probably this is my fault for not keeping up on all the websites, but respectfully I didn’t know this whole schism was still going on. My mother was a Hillary voter, and as a retired teacher on Social Security, the inflation and gas prices has really hit her. She heard McCain essentially say he’s going to continue Bush’s economic policies, while Obama will end the tax cuts for the very wealthy and lower taxes for her, and she decided to vote for Obama. She’s not a “robot” or whatever for voting for the Democrat, just as she wasn’t a “racist” for voting for the white candidate over the black on on Super Tuesday.

So this rejection of the principles and policies that Hillary backs as retribution for a hard fought campaign, at this late date, comes as a surprise to me. Once again, probably my fault, for not being a reader of political websites and blogs.

Why would anyone reject the policies Hillary supports, and go 180 degrees the other way?

I’m thinking of a few possibilities.

    1. You don’t believe that Obama is a liberal like Hillary. Maybe you think he’s generally dishonest, and is secretly a conservative. But voting for a candidate who is, explicitly, very conservative is a, well, perverse way to demonstrate your lack of trust. Then there’s the belief that he’s a Manchurian candidate, a Muslim who is waiting until he’s elected to reveal his true form, as an al-Qaeda member. But that’s the kind of paranoia that only exists among the truly marginal, and I don’t believe there are significant numbers of people who sincerely believe that– just those whose interests are representative of the Republicans and McCain and who are trying every tactic to win, including insincerity.

    2. You recognize that Obama and Hillary have very similar political beliefs and programs, which you support, but you aren’t happy with the outcome of the process. I understand. That was a hell of a campaign, vital and historic and inspiring for so many reasons– and I didn’t even get to vote for either! I voted for a lying philanderer whose stated commitment to the less fortunate I found inspiring. Well, the joke was on me. But the race was tough, and it hurts when your candidate doesn’t win. The only thing that helped me in the past was considering the alternative. And that has always worked to make me recognize what was truly important: electing a government that tries to help average folks, not one that lies to average folks to further enrich the already wealthy people and corporations who pour money into Republican campaigns expecting a return on their investments. Recognizing the stark difference between what McCain would do and what Obama would do, really makes it clear that one has to hold one’s nose at the ballot box. I had to do that in 1992, and it was, in retrospect, the best vote I ever cast. Put the people aside and vote your principles. I bet that’s the bulk of the people here, and I understand how it works. Just think about the alternative futures and ignore the baiting comments.

    3. The thing that I hesitate to suggest, but I will anyway to compete the thought, is that some small percentage of people who purport to back Hillary, or who come on here insulting Hillary and her supporters, are in fact Republicans. I recall Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives calling for McCain supporters to sabotage the primary process by switching up votes. And I read ‘All the President’s Men,’ in which a person who worked for Nixon recouted his days sabotaging Democrats by pretending to be supporters of Democratic candidates, then spreading insults and falsehoods designed to ruin their candidacy and elect a Republican. Guess who was another Republican saboteur from the Nixon days? Karl Rove! I don’t think there are many of those out there, but I’m certain there are some people who claim to support Hillary in order to hurt Obama and therefore elect McCain, and there are, I’m sure, some who pretend to be Obama supporters to insult you and galvanize you against Obama. That is a tragedy. Whoever is pushing the most offensive characterization of either opponent is going to tend to be the saboteur. They want you to put your beliefs aside and make it about personalities, because that’s how they can divide and conquer and continue to ruin the chances of middle class folks to have a better life. Don’t let them divide us!

    4. The toughest category: those who have no interest in the principles of the Democratic Party, of fairness and helping the average people, but who were inspired by Hillary and are hurt by the outcome, that history and destiny were betrayed, and want the guy who betrayed the importance of that to lose. They either don’t have any core political beliefs, or they went against them to support Hillary. In the latter case, they’re not really Democrats and would be comfortable with McCain anyway. In the former case, I have no good answer, except to point out that politics matter, that personalities have politics attached to them no matter what you personally may think.

Forgive me for being very, very long-winded. I was surprised by this blog and interested in talking about this in a way that tried to bracket off the personal insults and the possibility that Republican saboteurs were at work, to encourage people to look past their pride at the broader issue of how this eletion wil dramatically affect the lives of so many real Americans. Thank you for your time and hospitality in letting me go on and on here!

  • Ex PUMA

The revelation that the Hillary Campaign is still heavily in debt has exposed PUMA for who they are. $1 million of that money was raised by Obama at joint fund raisers.

Will Bowers of Justsaynodeal claimed that they had paid all of her debt on Fcks TV by 4 July. If he is a member of the Democrats he should be expelled. While he was on Fox claiming she did not need the help of the DNC her daily donations dropped by over 90% to just $2700.

It proves PUMA is nothing but a front of Republican liars.

Their other founder Darragh Murphy has still according to the FEC paid nothing to Clinton. The only Presidential campaign she donated to was McSame. According to the FEC her only donation during this campaign was to another RNC Front PUMA related PAC. Examining FEC records you will find the same donors donating to the Denver Group and PUMA PAC (although no connection is recorded despite that being illegal).

So what have the Republican “Hillary supporters” achieved? They fostered further division which severely hindered any prospect of Hillary getting the Vice Presidency. Say thank you VP Biden. They also blocked her fund raising efforts by telling LIES on Fox.

Who did it help? The same person the PUMA PAC founder donated to in the first place- McBush.

So if PUMA lies about the very basics of support for Hillary (clearing her debt) what else have they lied about?

  • http://www.barrysoetoro.com Jeremiah God Damn Amerikkka Wright

Just relax and let it slide off your back. They are in hyper drive trying to get Obama’s poll numbers up any way they can.

They have attacked every way they can think of. Now they are trying to undermine Puma too. They are scared shitless. They know they are going to lose and are desperate.

    Don’t sweat it.

  • PITA

You’re one of those OoohBAmmmaaah devotees showed their committment to Unity by not contributing. You’re also one who claimed that Clinton supporters are responsible for the divisiveness in the campaign. I guess you’re singing Hosanna now that he’s picked Biden. What did Barack have to do to convince him that he’s ready? Must have served the Kool-Aide.

  • PITA

*Ex Puma* is another Obama propaganda generator. The Obama cult showed it’s dedication to party unity by their comittment to paying off Hillary’s debt. How much did ex puma donate? Time spent on the internet scolding Hillary supporters.

  • Ex PUMA

Who went on a peak time FOX news slot to say they had cleared the Hillary campaign debts? Obama supporters were told by PUMA that there was no need to donate to Clinton – PUMA cleared the debt. So if PUMA raised $10 million by July 4 – where is it?

    PUMA

What Presidential Campaign is Murphy listed as supporting financially? McBush

Who has she not supported according to the FEC? Clinton.

Whose campaign has PUMA undermined? Clinton.

PUMA is exposed as an RNC front. PUMA support Hillary about as much as Bush does.

Hey, don’t expect a reasoned, well thought posting to be received well here in this cesspool.

    A few things will happen;

they will call you an Obama troll

they won’t respond to a single accurate thing you wrote

they will act like retared children who shit their pants repeatedly.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

    Nice commentary Dan. But WRONG.

Ibama is not like Hillary, and that is the whole point of this Blog. If you could spend some time reading this blog, you might see those differences.

    —————————————————-

Bea, I agree with you. You do act like a retard who just shit his pants.

And, that line of reasoning probably works on your siblings, but here it just shines a beacon on your immaturity.

  • Dan

    Hi Johnny,

How are the views of Obama and Hillary not virtually identical? If you don’t think political views are why it’s worth voting for a candidate, I understand. Lots of people vote on personality alone. But at least, let’s be reasonable and say why we’ll vote for one candidate and not the other.

I’ll start. I’ll vote for Obama in the general election because:

    1. I feel like I’m suffering economically under the current president. I have a professional degree and I see that I’m getting poorer, though I work hard and do what I thought I should do to succeed. I can do nothing because my paycheck buys less every pay period. I worry myself to sleep every night about money.

    2. My mother is going back to work as a substitute teacher at aged 68 because she can’t get by on her pension and social security.

This isn’t abstract. This affects people’s lives. It’s time for those people who are on OUR side to step up. At some point, you have to decide if you’re rich enough that these crazy politics will help you or hurt you. They’re hurting me and my wife and my mother every day. So please, understand what it’s like to hurt like this, and vote against McCain, Bush, and the Republicans, or recognize that the hurt we’re feeling doesn’t matter to you and yours.

Please, it’s time to move past the feeling of being wronged. Feeling wronged is less important to me than to fish under the passenger seat of my car for change to buy gas.

Reading the comments here hurts if I believe that all of us here are Democrats. It doesn’t hurt as much if I pretend that this is a McCain campaign effort. I don’t know what to do, honestly. Please, don’t think about Obama or Hillary… please consider what our lives would really be like if what happened before continues for four more years.

I have my fingers crossed that what I’m writing will get through to someone. I’m embarrassed to write this at all, it’s like a plea for help, but reading more of this blog is heartbreaking.

  • Dan

I re-read everything I wrote, and while I’m sorry I made some grammatical errors, I think it’s the best thing I have ever written, in college or whatever. I did my best. I feel like it’s a message in a bottle, but the McCain commercial about being the original maverick commercial just came on, and I want to say: I tried. Please, if there are any people out there who really listened to what Hillary said, please vote for Obama. He’s not ideal but for those of us who are really worried about what’s going to happen, he’s way better than McCain.

    With all due respect, Dan

On July 10, 2008, I received the debt information from two sources, John West (of the “300″ Petition, “ClintonDems”, “Democracy Workshop”, and “I Own My Vote”) and Cynthia Ruccia (of “Women for Fair Politics”).

Both West and Ruccia later contacted Caren Turner (of “ToGetHer4Us”) to confirm with her that they had indeed been my sources.

John West later went on to reveal his source as having been Jamie Brazil — a cousin of Hillary Clinton (as he has been described to me) — who (according to West) had received that information in a conference call with Clinton finance-team leader, Jonathan Mantz.

There were other witnesses who had heard such information being generated by one or more of the sources listed above, namely, individuals within the organization “Real Democrats USA”… although they themselves were not responsible for passing that information on to other sources.

This is how it came to pass that I shared this information with the media. We now know that this information was faulty. At the time, however, I had believed these sources to be reliable ones.

  • UKforDems

So as well as you the following organisations and people “misspoke”

John West (of the “300″ Petition, “ClintonDems”, “Democracy Workshop”, and “I Own My Vote”) and Cynthia Ruccia (of “Women for Fair Politics”).

    Caren Turner (of “ToGetHer4Us”)

“Jamie Brazil” — a cousin of Hillary Clinton (???)

Clinton finance-team leader, Jonathan Mantz. (A finance Team Leader??) You went on Fox a good site for Clinton fundraising at the time on the say so of a Team Leader?

Unnamed “namely individuals” within the organization “Real Democrats USA.

Do you ever take responsibility for what you did? Which was to do more than any other individual to undermine the attempts by Hillary Clinton, the person you supposedly actively supported for President, to clear her debts. You do also know you are 6 months late as you made no attempt to correct it – until now.

  • JW

This was a volunteer, grass roots effort, that I was a part of. To say amateur mistakes made along the way by a bunch of young and excited people for Hillary is somehow proof of their “republicanism” is no better than Salem Witch Trial logic.

What about the fact that more than twice the number of Obama voters did nothing more than spread false information about Obama’s accomplishments? Is that proof of them being bad people? No, hardly. Thank goodness people were at least talking…The crime here, was how the media played us to the end.
