News Stories Our Readers Provided

Hey, folks – Since so many of you have provided some really great news stories in the Comments section, we wanted to highlight a few of them and let you all discuss them.

The first is an interesting video provided by HARP:

Holy moley. That was some discussion. And David Shuster is about the same. Ahem.

Pat provided this very disturbing component of the new Healthcare LAW: S

EC. 430. ESTABLISHING A READY RESERVE CORPS.

Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 204) is amended to read as follows:

SEC. 203. COMMISSIONED CORPS AND READY RESERVE CORPS.

(a) ESTABLISHMENT.—

(1) IN GENERAL.—There shall be in the Service a commissioned Regular Corps and a Ready Reserve Corps for service in time of national emergency.

(2) REQUIREMENT.—All commissioned officers shall be citizens of the United States and shall be appointed without regard to the civil-service laws and compensated without regard to the Classification Act of 1923, as amended.

(3) APPOINTMENT.—Commissioned officers of the Ready Reserve Corps shall be appointed by the President and commissioned officers of the Regular Corps shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate.

(4) ACTIVE DUTY.—Commissioned officers of the Ready Reserve Corps shall at all times be subject to call to active duty by the Surgeon General, including active duty for the purpose of training.

(5) WARRANT OFFICERS.—Warrant officers may be appointed to the Service for the purpose of providing support to the health and delivery systems maintained by the Service and any warrant officer appointed to the Service shall be considered for purposes of this Act and title 37, United States Code, to be a commissioned officer within the Commissioned Corps of the Service.

(b) ASSIMILATING RESERVE CORP OFFICERS INTO THE REGULAR CORPS.—Effective on the date of enactment of the Affordable Health Choices Act, all individuals classified as officers in the Reserve Corps under this section (as such section existed on the day before the date of enactment of such Act) and serving on active duty shall be deemed to be commissioned officers of the Regular Corps.

(c) PURPOSE AND USE OF READY RESERVE.—

(1) PURPOSE.—The purpose of the Ready Reserve Corps is to fulfill the need to have additional Commissioned Corps personnel available on short notice (similar to the uniformed service’s reserve program) to assist regular Commissioned Corps personnel to meet both routine public health and emergency response missions.

(2) USES.—The Ready Reserve Corps shall—

(A) participate in routine training to meet the general and specific needs of the Commissioned Corps;

(B) be available and ready for involuntary calls to active duty during national emergencies and public health crises, similar to the uniformed service reserve personnel;

(C) be available for backfilling critical positions left vacant during deployment of active duty Commissioned Corps members, as well as for deployment to respond to public health emergencies, both foreign and domestic; and

(D) be available for service assignment in isolated, hardship, and medically underserved communities (as defined in section 399SS) to improve access to health services.

(d) FUNDING.—For the purpose of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Commissioned Corps under this section, there are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to the Office of the Surgeon General for each of fiscal years 2010 through 2014. Funds appropriated under this subsection shall be used for recruitment and training of Commissioned Corps Officers.

Pat asked if this was the “Civilian Security Force” about which Obama spoke. Sounds like it to me. What do you think?

Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo had this interesting story, “Poll: Most Want GOP To Keep Fighting On Health Bill.”

And last one, Heads Up On This had a link that led to this story, “Unions Want To Take Over Your 401 (k).” Wanna guess who? Here’s a hint – Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN, helped to found this union, too.

Great finds, everyone. Keep ‘em coming!

  • AnnieCarmel

As to Kevin’s comments…the only Hitler/Obama references I have seen around our county comes from the Lyndon LaRoche people…and yes, they are fringe.  I believe they try to attach themselves to the Tea Party demonstrations but they are not people who attend our meetings, etc.

The Civilian Corpse…very troubling…and one of the reasons many women are joining “Babes with Bullets”, doing target practice around here…we all feel the threat of violence from the Dims.

  • Elinor

“(D) be available for service assignment in isolated, hardship, and medically underserved communities (as defined in section 399SS) to improve access to health services.”

To me this sounds like their authorization to involuntarily force health care providers to serve at the pleasure of the government when and where the government needs them and at whatever compensation the government deems appropriate.

  • AnnieCarmel

Whatever the purpose, it’s at the behest of the government and I don’t like it one bit.

  • BINKY

the file named “untitled” is the 2nd part of the article on Health Care for Small Businesses:
    http://www.esnips.com/web/bthiels-Filestoshare

Now that it’s signed, we can find out what’s in the bill!

  • confused American

Thank Amy I had seen that earlier which was spooky…
This administration gets spookier and spookier every day.   Just when I think I can trust DC, they pull some back door tactics like they did last Sunday.

Did you get my web sites on the 39 states and the “Article V” convention

  • AnnieCarmel

What bothers me is that the “Commissioned Officers” are to be appointed by the President.  Why not the Surgeon General if ths is for back-up for emergencies?

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

I am reading the POS HC Document. Reverend Amy, I cannot find what you refer to.

    I downloaded http://docs.house.gov/edlabor/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

There are no sections 230 or 430.

I also looked for some items I saw in a Homemade “Town Hall Video”. The woman was reading from a list and talking to a congressman I could not identify.

The woman said she read the entire bill, she sounded very sincere, an claimed there were sections that ” clearly rationed health care”, allowed non us citizens access to Obamacare, and provided for audits of all small businesses.

I cannot find those claims in the sections she cited.

Be carefull about what you post about Obamacare. I think team Obama is planting BS in the hope the opposition will run with it, then they can easily discredit the opposition as loons. Remember this tactic from the campaign?

That is what Kevin Jackson is talking about in Harp’s video. Shuster and the Dems are doing the race baiting. The French call it Agent Provocateur. Smash up your own house and say your enemy did it. Invent phoney evidence. It is a very old trick.

If anyone lives in the LA area they probably can recall a Professor on race relations that had her car vandalized with racial slurs. It was a big scandal campus investigation.

The scandal got bigger with all the inconsistancies in her stories. She confessed to vadalizing her own car.  She was not as good a liar as Obama.

Obamacare is bad, but they are trying to trick us into congering up a bogeyman that does not exist.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

    I though LaRouche was dead.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

Interesting that LaRouche and Obama both have ties to William Ayers, SDS and Columbia University Violence.

  • Baldwin
  • AnnieCarmel

Not sure but there were additional pages added that no one had read when it was signed…maybe there?

  • Baldwin

Sorry should not have put a period after some of those links.

  • Baldwin
  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

I was wondering about that too. But, I downloaded today from docs.house.gov.

If the complete bill is not on the House site, I don’t know where else it would be.

I do not trust anything. Except NoQuarter!

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

Thanks for those. I remember the Colorado incident.

  • helenk

Maybe I am getting paranoid but all of a sudden the dems are asking for protection, vandalism is supposedly going up and backtrack gets his private army. I am very worried about the future of this country. I was taught a long time ago how easy democracy is to lose when not protected properly. Our government no longer represents us and anger is growing. Any spark could set it off and marshal law would be invoked. I really believe that is what backtrack wants and one of the reasons he was put in office.

US health bill back to House of Representativeshttp://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article7075248.ece

Barack Obama’s historic US health care reform legislation must be returned to the House of Representatives for a new vote due to a procedural “violation” only a day after being signed into law.

One of the provisions in the new health care law requires small businesses to provide coverage for workers. Such an “employer mandate” has been in place in San Francisco, Calif., for over a year. The mandate has earned mixed reviews at best. Under the law, businesses with 20 or more employees are required to provide medical coverage, either on their own or by paying into a city-run program. That’s what most restaurants are doing — albeit grudgingly.

    http://www.breitbart.tv/san-francisco-restaurants-add-health-care-surcharge/

  • Jim S

But that’s California and because it’s within the state only, the state can issue the mandate. The feds cannot because they have no jurisdiction, it’s a states rights issue.

As for this other little gem, can we expect them to be wearing brown uniforms with shine black belts polished chrome buckles?

  • SFIndie

Funny, I don’t recall Shuster being so upset about violence when Keith Olbermann suggested on the air that a Democratic Superdelegate should take Hillary Clinton into a room and only he emerge. And I don’t remember his being so upset when Pete Snyder said “[S]omeone is going to have to go out there and take her (Clinton) behind the barn.” I guess that’s because she’s just a woman, right David? Doesn’t count? Shuster’s an ass.

  • snosandy

I think Shuster’s emailbox should get filled with examples.

  • wyntre

    Bwahahahahahahahaha!

    Jackson STUPAKCED Schuster!

Truth is a bitter pill, eh David?

  • tango

I also love how it’s expected that all these threats are made by Tea Party Republicans. There are also Democrats & Independants against the HC bill who abhor abortion. Who’s to say that the lady who called Stupak and called him a piece of shit or the person who through a bill through Slaughters office window wasn’t a disgrunted Democrat?

I think GOP pundits need to point that possibility out the next few days and also need to come armed with names/times/facts of past supposed Republican “initiated” violence that after investigation, turned out to be Democrat on Democrat crime done to generate sympathy and attention.

  • tango

oh sorry, not enough coffee this morning:

I meant to say “or the person who threw a brick through Slaughter’s window”…..

  • oowawa

Yep–it’s in there–got to the below link and load the PDF–start at page 1312.  What the heck is something like this doing in a health care bill?

    http://democrats.senate.gov/reform/patient-protection-affordable-care-act-as-passed.pdf

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

Thanks for the hat tip 8-)

2 out of 3 independents and 41% of Dems polled in that CBS survey wanted the GOP to keep fighting. Obama/Reid/Pelosi are the worst political strategists evah!

  • jbjd

R3A, I posted my open letter to AG McMaster.  http://jbjd.wordpress.com/2010/03/25/open-letter-ag-mcmaster-sc/  Do you realize, the SC Election Commission only allowed BO’s name to be printed on the ballot because when former SC Democratic Party Treasuer Kathy Hensley dropped off Chairwoman Fowler’s typed list of names for the ballot; they refused to accept it without the statutory eligibility wording?  So Ms. Hensley scribbled down the requisite Certification of eligibility.

  • creeper

R3A, this was a great idea–sorting the great stories out that someone might otherwise have missed and putting them together.  There’s been some fantastic finds in the past few days.  It never ceases to amaze me what NQ posters come up with.

I rarely bother to look at trad media any more.  Blogs…this one in particular…are my primary source of news.  I learn more from you guys (neutral gender intended) here than I could ever learn from the alphabet soup networks..

  • Hokma

I’m still stuck on Clyburn and other Black congressmen making claims of racial epithets by protestors when there is not single shred of evidence of that. In fact Andrew Breibart has offered I think $10,000 for tape evidence of any kind of a racial epithet at that protest and would donate the money to the United Negro College Fund. SO far no evidence.

This is getting tired and will come back to bite Democrats who are inciting violence.

  • Diana L. C.

Makes me want to join–though by O’s standard I’m too old and should be dead by now–just so I can countermand the orders I receive.

You have to hope that many of the people who would join this would be people just desperate for more income but who, when they realize what they’re being asked to do, would not be able to stomach turning agains fellow citizens.

But then, there will probably be enough narcissistic, self-important idiiots (FF come tos mind) who might believe they’ll catch the Messiah’s eyes by being quite brutal in performing duties for his honor. It will be, as Larry pointed out, all “Obama Akbar” with that type.

  • Obamastolemyhealthcare

I think that is what the administration wants.  That is why they keep pushing unpopular legislation that is against the wishes of the majority of the American people.  That is why it is full speed ahead with amnesty and capand trade!  They want violence to erupt and then martial law can be imposed.  I would have never believed it in any other case, but since we are stuck with this usurper, it is very clear.  They have been telling us so and we should believe them, “they will stop at nothing”.  I am still wondering if Dr. Dictator will allow the 2010 elections or not.  They seem pretty confident that they will not lose their jobs no matter how stupid they are!  Why?  I keep asking myself.  All I can come up with is that they know something we don’t (yet) know!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Remember recently hearing that the Obamacare would use people who lost their jobs to help out with medical care since we have a shortage of doctors already?  Now we know from where they are going to get those people…

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, oowawa – I appreciate your finding it!

  • creeper

NLBiB, you have my undying admiration for slogging through that thing.  Thank you for keeping us updated on what you find.

  • creeper

You, too, oowawa.  I’d wager NQ’s bloggers know more about that bill than any member of Congress.

  • oowawa

Lyndon LaRouche is evidently still alive, but an old man (born 1922).  Reading the article about him on Wikipedia is an experience; a novelist would be challenged to invent such an implausible life.  In regards to his attitude towards Obama, the Wiki article states:

“LaRouche compared Obama to Adolf Hitler, and the proposed health-insurance reform to Hitler’s Action T4 euthanasia program.[160] He said Americans must “quickly and suddenly change the behavior of this president … for no lesser reason than that your sister might not end up in somebody’s gas oven.”[161] The movement printed pamphlets showing Obama and Hitler laughing together, and posters of Obama wearing a Hitler-style mustache.”

  • AnnieCarmel

Yes, oowawa.  They had a table full of that outside the market.  I was surprised he was still around and had people interested.

  • AnnieCarmel

    I like that idea, Diana!

  • AnnieCarmel

All the more important that we have an orderly transfer of congressional power.  I am fearful too because the country feels on the verge of hysteria from the pressure we are having put on us.  If they try to steal the elections, God help us because it’s people such as ourselves who get caught in the crossfire.

  • AnnieCarmel

No upset when POS Berhhardt “hoped” that Sarah would be gang raped by her black pals in NY.

  • AnnieCarmel

I agree.  All the more important that we ignore trolls/bots and not let them engage us in trading barbs.  We lose the thread rather than engaging in helpful dialogue…which is what this is supposed to be for.

  • ProudMilitaryMom

It is the Senate bill that passed is it not? Not the House bill.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

    HELP!!!!

Something is terribly wrong here. Is there some head faking going on?

There are many versions of the “Affordable Health Care Act” floating around, including on the House and Senate sites.

Please, someone point me to the Bill that Obama signed.

This link http://democrats.senate.gov/reform/patient-protection-affordable-care-act-as-passed.pdf  Says “Affordable Health Care Act.

But, the bill on that Link is for HR 3590 Dated December 24, 2009 (the Santa Clause Bill)

The PDF file information sayes the file was created on Friday, October 30, 2009.

The title of that bill on page one is this:

‘‘An Act to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees”

It is an amendment to the Home Buyers Tax Credit?

    But,
The Table of Contents and  Body of the Bill are all about the Health Care Act.

The table of contents has this:

    TITLE VIII—CLASS ACT
Sec. 8001. Short title of title.
Sec. 8002. Establishment of national voluntary insurance program for purchasing
community living assistance services and support.

Nothing else is listed for title VIII in the Table of Contents.

    But,
In the body of the Bill, Title VIII has this:

Sec. 5207. Funding for National Health Service Corps.

    and this:

SEC. 5210. ESTABLISHING A READY RESERVE CORPS.

Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 204) is amended to read as follows:

‘‘SEC. 203. COMMISSIONED CORPS AND READY RESERVE CORPS.”

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Yes, CA – I did – thank you so much.  I looked it up last night after you mentioned it.  That is the one positive thing I have seen recently, CA – thank you for that!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Well, Hokma, after Clyburn jumped on the “Bill and Hillary are RACISTS” bandwagon, stabbing them in the back, NOTHING he does now would surprise me.

And interesting that John Lewis was involved in that, too.  Perhaps what people were saying to him (if anything) is what a spineless jellyfish he was to abandon Hillary the way he did because JJJr. TOLD him he’d better.  Just a thought.  Ahem.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

You said it, SF!!  He is something else, that guy…

Btw, what do YOU think of the additional fees at restaurants for health care?  I wondered what you thought when I heard abt it…

  • tango

Also it was pointed out that Jim Bunning (R) who refused to vote for additional unemployment insurance unless it was funded, had death threats made against him. So someone needs to tell Schuster that it’s not only Democrats who are threatened if a politician makes or takes an unpopular decision or stand.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, creeper!  I agree – our readers are just AMAZING at finding stories.  Y’all never cease to amaze me.

And I cannot believe some of y’all are actually slogging through that HCB – I wish YOU would run for Congress so we could get some actual thinkers in there who can READ, too!

I think I’ll be doing this again soon, creeper.  There are so many good stories mentioned in the comments that people might miss otherwise…  :-D

  • guest

“Pat asked if this was the “Civilian Security Force” about which Obama spoke. Sounds like it to me. What do you think?”

I think you and Pat need to shut Fox News off and try to use reason instead of letting Glenn Beck TELL you what to think.

  • ~~Justme~~

WE NEED TO FLAG EARLY AND OFTEN !

  • oowawa

NLBIB, I sympathize with your search for the latest Obama-signed version of the bill.  I don’t even know that it has been posted yet.  Here is another PDF document of the bill that also contains the Ready Reserve Corps discussed above.  Just search for “Reserve Corps” in the document.  Is this the latest posted?  I don’t know.  I get the feeling we’re being razzle-dazzled, that the wool is being pulled over our eyes, that we’re being bamboozled by the enormity and various versions of this “document.”  Anyway:

    http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3590enr.txt.pdf

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, the irony, the irony.  See, the thing is that many of us here DO think for ourselves, unlike the vast majority of Obama supporters who come here and regurgitate the same old smears, attacks, and talking points.

See, we pay attention to what Obama actually says.  He did mention a civilian force, and this seems to fit the bill.  Perhaps you could try listening to what he is actually saying sometime instead of drinking the Kool Aide or smoking that Hopium.  Just a thought.

  • ~~Justme~~

Some here at NQ could fill the shoes of President quite well too :)

Plus we would feel a whole lot safer! And at a guess no community organizing to trump their resume, a position they would have volunteered for on the side. You know the truly giving type.

  • oowawa

David Shuster–Ooooooo–remember when he had to go and sit in the penalty box for 2 weeks?

    Chelsea Clinton remark and suspension

On February 7, 2008, while guest hosting on Tucker, Shuster discussed Chelsea Clinton‘s campaigning for her mother Hillary Clinton, her efforts to influence superdelegates, and her refusal to answer any questions by the media. When his guest, Bill Press, pointed out that Bush’s daughters campaigned for their father, Shuster noted the different access rules in each case and responded, “There’s just something a little bit unseemly to me that Chelsea’s out there calling up celebrities, saying support my mom … doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?”
The Clinton campaign demanded an apology and stated that Clinton might not participate in any further debates on MSNBC.[5] Shuster was temporarily suspended from all NBC News and MSNBC appearances for his comments, rather than having to issue an apology.[6] Before the suspension Shuster had engaged in a heated e-mail exchange with a Clinton staffer in which he defended his remarks.[7] Shuster’s two-week suspension[8] from on-air duties ended on February 22, 2008. i recently read an article saying obama does not think or act like an american.  what did you expect from someone who admitedly was raised  as a muslim, by a muslim, in a muslim country?  he claims to be a christian now  but its hard to believe one can forget everything they have been taught during their formative years. is this why he always sides with the muslim, countries, the muslim terrorists and has taken the side of the palistinians against isreal?even going as far as not allowing his picture to be taken with the isreali prime minister, lest he offend the muslims?  or with the dali llama, lest he offend the  chinese who have spit in his face.  also why he seems so out of touch with the idea of american exceptionalism?  the repubs need to take a page from the dems  who went to alaska to rummage thru palins trash.  they need to send someone to africa and do some of their own investigating.  or how about his school and medical records which obama has managed to hide from the public. that alone should make people  wonder about his real agenda. 2012 cant come too soon. to get rid of this shamobama.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Yes, indeed, I do.  I was one of the people writing MSNBC abt allowing this guy to continue reporting after the way he treated Hillary and Chelsea.

Of course, people like Keith thought Shuster was getting the raw end of the deal being suspended for two weeks (“what did he say that was so bad?” was basically what they were saying…).

I can’t believe the guy still has a job anyway – he is clearly no journalist.  Then again, neither are Olbermann, Matthews, or Maddow, and THEY still have jobs, too.

I will go to my grave wondering how in dog’s name America elected Barack HUSSEIN Obama seven years after the worst Muslim terrorist attack on US soil in history.  What was it that allowed voters to do that?  Was it fear?  Guilt?  Collective Alzheimer’s?  Stupidity?

“Hope ‘n change” just doesn’t seem to explain it.

  • PortiaElizabeth

This from Washington Post columnist Milloy:

I know how the “tea party” people feel, the anger, venom and bile that many of them showed during the recent House vote on health-care reform. I know because I want to spit on them, take one of their “Obama Plan White Slavery” signs and knock every racist and homophobic tooth out of their Cro-Magnon heads.

  • ~~Justme~~

Thanks Jim on the CA issue.

  • Katmoon

I am so there with you Portia:

I posted this on another thread, but will post it here as it applies: In regard to Congressman Cantor’s office being shot at.

However this may not be brought up on the news, as to “cool” the flames, and it only counts if threats are made to Democrats. I have thought about the past two years, and how we on this blog, people at town hall meetings, literally anyone willing to wear a non-dem status, on their shirt sleeve, has been subjected to physical violence, filthy disgusting hate speech(think about the article Sara, or Lisa posted awhile back regarding all the hate spewed at Hillary and Sarah P.) accusations of racism, and out and out deranged internet stalking.  These are the tactics that were allowed to progress during one administration into another, then fueled fully by this administratiion with open and bias toward specific events unfolding(remember the “stupid” police vs. the Harvard -beer professor incident?). Then allowing the “teabaggers” label to go unchallenged, and used daily on actually live dinnertime broadcasts. All we have seen for way too long are the bullies on the playround making everyone either so angry they can’t think straight or so afraid they won’t say a thing. At some point we all get tired of the bullies, and it is how we choose to deal with them that will give us some sense of peace, as we know we no longer have any adults in the room, and we have very few hall monitors.
The ones who come here to high jack and be outright vile and threatening, and baiting, can be ignored, and we do try, but that also is like trying to ignore a bee sting over and over and over again. People are sick and tired of beinf belittled, shamed, discouraged, guilted into tolerence and  interrupted over and over by cruel, ugly, hate speech. Especially when one is subjected to it day in and day out. We come here to discuss, we come of our own free will, and yes we are aware we will not always agree. However, I personally have to go offline when it becomes such a constant stream of vile being spewed with no repercussions. Spoofing our names, making the most outrageous remarks to be left on here is no different than those fools some of which claim remarks and actions have been taken, and othersd where they actually have. It is Chicago style politics, from the blog, to the nightly news, the paper and everyday convesation, becuase this is how low the bar has been set. I will never believe it is ok to use racist words, even if you belong to the very race and you are using the words against your own group, nor any hate language which divides and classifies human beings in degrading terms, for the sake of minimizing them. I do not believe in violence as a form of protest; but I do believe in coming back full force, when I can thoughtfully and have had enough. Sometimes, I am only left with a “FU”, but it works. That is where I am at now, a big
FU, to the dem party the slobbering followers, the administration and to anyone who thinks we are now going to be a nation of only one realm of thought to support.

  • getfitnow

…And wrote more about Obama pre-primaries and general elections.

  • getfitnow

I’m not condoning violence, but I blame SOME dems and the msms for fanning the flames. The slurs/spitting–all hear/say. I’m sure if they had hard evidence they would be showing that clip in a loop 24/7. this smacks of diversion to me.

Rush Limbaugh made a good point today. Where was the msm during the campaign when McCain/Palin was being hit with threats/slurs; headquarters being vandalized; not to mention the voter intimadation by the New Black Panther Party?

  • getfitnow

I meant to add–who started and continue calling Tea Partiers  “teabaggers?” Say what you will about Bush/Chaney, they received their share of slurs/threats, and didn’t go crying to the media.

I am sick of the dems playing victim and whining everytime they start to lose a argument.

The dems better start listening. There is legitimate anger out here and it doesn’t have to be stoked by the GOP. >:o

What a marvelous, expressive letter!! Brilliant, Katmoon!

(I could not believe a Post columnist could actually say those things. I fear for the morals we’re teaching our children.)

I don’t know what to make of the emergency corps myself. On the surface it sounds like an emergency medical response corps…but we already have the Red Cross, CERT, and dozens of other volunteer groups that seem to do well. Yes, we could use a more formal and more trained emergency preparedness and response group – but we already have AmeriCorps which was given that task by President Bush in order to expand CERT.  And what exactly does it have to do with insuring the uninsured? And if it is so simple and obviously useful (who would object to training volunteers to aid in disasters?) Then why wasn’t it brought forth as a seperate bill and discuseed openly? Finally, with the nation arguably in a Depression, why start as emergency services corps from the back door with money desigated for insuring the uninsured?

  • Jim S

…I think the difficulty finding the section on the emergency corps is proof that the bill was never written in a formal sense it is an amorphous blob of clauses and sections and wish lists…

Yes, and the restaurants are adding a 4% surcharge on your check for “San Francisco Universal Health Care”.  We had a wedding lunch in SF last July for my son and I was really P. O’ed having to pay their share.  I pay my own and have to contribute to theirs too? It’ll be a cold day in hell before I do that again.

    From the Tea Party Express:

The Tea Party Express has already spent over $350,000 in its campaign to “Defeat Harry Reid” and the organization will spend what is necessary to ensure voters know about the deception of Ashjian’s claim to be a member of the tea party movement.
“Yes, the language in this ad is direct and tough, and that is how it should be.  This guy needs to be called out,” said Mark Williams, Chairman of the Tea Party Express.

“Here you have a fraud who tries to pass himself off as the candidate of the tea party movement when not one single tea party activist in the state has ever seen him at a tea party rally, or even heard of him before.  How dumb do he and Harry Reid think we are?” asked Williams.

The Tea Party Express has conducted tea party rallies all across Nevada in cities including: Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Winnemucca, Elko, Ely, Fallon, Hawthorne and Tonopah.
“Scott Ashjian had no involvement with those rallies or any other activities organized by tea party organizations across the state.  Scott Ashjian is no more a part of the tea party movement than Harry Reid or Barack Obama,” Williams said.
Ashjian’s candidacy has collapsed since he announced he was entering the race in early March.

Last week he slipped from his talking points that he is not a Reid-plant, and lashed out against the very tea party movement he pretends to represent calling Nevada’s tea party activists “paranoid” and “afraid” in an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal.

And yesterday’s Review-Journal reported the following:

The move comes as Ashjian faces political and personal legal troubles. State officials on Wednesday revoked his contractor’s license after he failed to respond to the Nevada State Contractors Board and skipped an 8:30 a.m. hearing regarding defaulted business payments. Earlier this week, an independent candidate and Tea Party backer filed a lawsuit to get Ashjian’s name removed from the ballot.
Voters can see this guy’s purpose is to try and split the anti-Reid vote to help Harry Reid defy the will of the voters and win re-election.  It’s a con-job on the voters and they are seeing right through it.
“It’s really telling that the only person who has spoken favorably of Ashjian’s candidacy is none other than dirty-trickster, Harry Reid himself.  Well maybe Harry should cast a vote for Ashjian if he really thinks this fraud is so swell,” Williams concluded.

Most people around here don’t like the health insurance surcharge. (Progressivism is great in SF until it hits you right in the pocket.) Restaurants around here go out of business so fast it’s hard to keep track. Passing on the costs of mandated health insurance to the consumers is something we can ALL look forward to now. Lucky us.

This from The Scotsman: Carter derides Obama’s Middle East policy

Subscribe Registered Article Published Date: 19 March 2010 <!– google_ad_section_start –><!– Article Start –>FORMER United States president Jimmy Carter has derided as “feeble” American plans to mediate in the dispute between the Israelis and Palestinians by shuttling back and forth between the two.
He said: “There’s no doubt that, in general, the United States government has been much more attuned to the sensitivities of the Israelis and has yielded excessively to the circumstances in the Holy Land as Israel has confiscated several lands within Palestine.

“I hope that in the future we’ll see the United States taking a much more balanced position and doing everything possible to implement a two-state solution (that establishes an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders]”.

The remarks come as Washington has expressed rare public outrage over Israel’s plans to build Jewish homes in a traditionally Arab part of Jerusalem.

It didn’t work out, to say the least.

So the underbelly of the Democratic Party is further exposed.  How shocking that Harry Reid is suspect.  Remember you HRC idolators,  they are all members of the same party.  Can you find anything anywhere in politics as disgusting as that to which the D party has stooped? Why is anyone a Democrat?  To be one is to have your hands in filth.

Republicans are no different.  The dems are just exposed now.  I’m happy being an independent now – both the parties are corrupt.  There are politicians and there are public servants, like Hillary.
