President Biden Meet Barack American

You got to love YouTube. We have never had an election where the media no longer controls the video and audio from events. When candidates make gaffes they will be recorded, replayed, and remembered. Today is no exception. Let’s start with the Democratic odd couple:

Can someone get these guys some name tags or something? Seems to be some confusion about names and titles.

But then there will be the questions in the coming days about what they have said about each other prior to today’s love fest. Here’s Barack singing the “praises” of Joe Biden.

As the church lady said, “Isn’t that special.”

And, for those of you living in a cave or who just came back from a week at an isolated beach on a tropical island, here is Biden sharing some love with Barack:

So, Biden talking nice about McCain. Was that out of context? Here’s another snippet from another time:

But Biden ain’t alone. Hell, both Biden and Barack, along with other Democrats, love them some John McCain.

I would love the job of having to create ads for McCain. The Democrats are turning out to be the gift that keeps on giving. Hell, you don’t even have to be too creative. This shit writes itself.

The best part was not Biden’s speech, but the preposterous running stage entrance. Let’s also not forget how we got to this low point in Dem Party politics.

    Off topic but very important…

I have been running across various names in the blogosphere . I had no idea who these people/groups were so I conducted research in effort to connect the dots…

In my efforts to try and understand Saul Alinsky, Ford Foundation, Gamaliel Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation and the US media blackout, I ran across this article which I think demands further intellectual scrutiny…

Read this EXCELLENT article describing the Soros power as it relates to the media…People are afraid of Murdoch’s control of the media? Why? At least Murdoch does it out in the open. Take a look at how much power George Soros has over the non profit information sources. Perhaps this is one (of many) causes of the media blackout on important news items?

This article holds up with regards to being unbiased and thoroughly documented…

    • Dr. Kate

VERY important link, thank you. now what we see we are up against:

Without a doubt there is ample evidence to support the contention that the power of liberal philanthropy has been harnessed to protect the powerful. But liberal foundations and private philanthropists, like George Soros, are not all powerful (despite their wishes to be so), and the question remains: who is really the most powerful, the elites or the general populous? In answering this question it is clear that I am in agreement with the power elites who understand that the power of the mass public is greater than their own; however, while I seek to encourage people power, elites more than anything fear the democratic power of the people, and do everything within their means to diminish it. For a rare admission of this deep-reaching elitist fear, see the classic Trilateral Commission report, The Crisis of Democracy (1975).

“Passed Over” Another 3am Announcement TONIGHT!”

Posted over on the WSJ site:
    blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/08/23/new-mccain-ad-gets-more-personal/

No sooner had Barack Obama publicly announced his new running mate had John McCain’s campaign produced an attack ad asking: Why not Hillary?

“Passed Over” will hit the airwaves at (you guessed it) 3 a.m. Sunday. The timing is a reference to Hillary Clinton’s national security ad during the Democratic primary and the same time the Obama campaign sent out its text message announcing Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden as the vice-presidential nominee.

“She won millions of votes. But isn’t on his ticket. Why?” an announcer says in the 30-second spot.

The answer? “For speaking the truth.”

The ad, which has not yet been released, then ticks off a litany of criticism Clinton used against Obama in the prolonged primary, according to a transcript sent to reporters.

“You never hear the specifics,” Clinton says.

“On the Rezko scandal,” the voice says.

“We still don’t have a lot of answers about Senator Obama,” Clinton says in footage from the primaries.

“Senator Obama’s campaign has become increasingly negative,” Clinton says in another scene.

The announcer closes by saying “The truth hurt. And Obama didn’t like it.”

The ad is the latest sign that the presidential contest has grown increasingly personal. It’s also proof that the some times bitter battle between the two Democratic senators has provided useful fodder to the Republican opposition.

Both Obama and McCain are fighting to win over the 18 million voters who chose Clinton during the primaries.

Recent polls show her base of mostly white working-class women has not rallied behind the Illinois senator. McCain frequently praises the former first lady in an effort to woo her still undecided supporters.

“Passed Over” could strike a chord since many Clinton fans are upset that she was not seriously considered as Obama’s running mate. While most people considered the “dream ticket” a long shot, the Obama-Biden ticket still struck a chord among supporters and delegates who had held out hope that Clinton would be chosen.

While I’m very interested in seeing the ad, and applaud McCain’s team for not missing a beat with these things. I do hope they tread carefully, I do not want to feel like nothing more than a pawn to be used and mistreated and taken for granted in there battle for the White House like the DNC is currently doing to us.
I know many of us are prepared to vote for McCain, if it comes to that, BUT they must remember it’s still a looooong way till NOV. and they don’t have us….YET!

    • Dr. Kate

ouch. that’s gonna hurt barky’s ego and he’s going to be pissed.

HRC delegates, please be careful around the obot thugs!

  • sfhillary

Damn, Larry, you really have gone over to the dark side, haven’t you? You are a sad case. I hope the ad revenue is worth it; can’t really believe that’s the case, but whatever. Have fun as a member of the minority party.

I’m glad Larry let’s little OBots post here, because it’s so much
FUN watching them SQUIRM in AGONY!!!

      • sfhillary

Agony? Obama just came off the worst few weeks of his campaign to date and he has still led McCain by 3 points the last four consecutive days in the Rasmussen tracking poll (a Republican poll, but the one whose methodology I most respect). Mccain just made what could be a campaign-changing blunder with his astonishing admission about his multiple houses. The Biden pick is getting good reviews, we’re going into our convention, McCain has to hold a convention for a party that’s so bored and depressed that most national Republicans aren’t even planning on showing up — and you think I’m squirming? I think, as I have thought for a long time, that Obama is going to mop the floor with your shitty candidate. And the Democrats are going to utterly decimate the GOP in the Congressional races — that’s a foregone conclusion.

So…I don’t know what you think I’d be feeling bad about. We are going to win, and we’re going to win big.

        • Dr. Kate

roflmao! keep trying if it makes you feel better. yes, your statement betrays agony and fear, you know, so confident in your idiot–who just f***** you over!!!! how does that feel? ha ha ha ha ha ha…..

        • StrawberrybitesBarky

How can you write that with a straight face? OMG. Barky should be damn near at his zenith this close to the convention and after he names his VP…and you just admitted this was the worst three weeks for barky? Whoa. Can I have a shot of whatever it is you’re having, that is, if it’s a legal substance and if it doesn’t require a prescripion.

          • 935 Lies

Do you think sfhillary channels Baghdad Bob or Tokyo Rose?

          • sfhillary

Your PUMA confidence is touching, and one of the reasons I keep reading you folks. But as I’ve said many times, this election will be won via a number of factors that you folks simply don’t know enough to take into account. I’ve written here before about party identification, ground game, professed enthusiasm levels, changing demographics — all sorts of variables that are tilting Democratic in this election. But here is one more to consider as you all spend this week trying to outdo each other with phrases to connote greater and greater contempt, scorn and hatred for the Evil One — America doesn’t know Barack Obama very well yet. This week, they’ll get to know him a bit better, and a lot of moderate centrist types will probably be won over. I don’t see him getting the ridiculous 15-point bounce that McCain is trying to spin, but I do see my guy moving back into a solid lead, and I see the Republican convention as being painful and embarrassing. No enthusiasm. Most party leaders staying away. McCain had a nice nasty little negative-ad run going there, but — as anyone who knows the guy’s career could have predicted — he shot himself in the ass with a stupid comment. He will continue to do this all throughout the fall. And I have no idea now who he can choose as a running mate who will help. The “houses” problem made Romney an even tougher pick.

By the way, speaking of wealth, for those fans of mine who enjoy highlighting my occasional errors, I want to acknowledge that when I claimed the other day that Obama’s net worth was only $1.3 million and he and Michelle could reasonably be called “middle class,” I was off by a couple years. Until he started running for president, I think you really could say that about them, and their net worth really was that low. But my figure was a couple years out of date; between his new bestseller and sales of his first (and far superior) book, Obama has made around $5 million in the past couple years in royalties, and can no longer be called anything but wealthy. Nothing like McCain or Romney or Bush, of course, but they’re a wealthy household now. Interesting, though, that Obama’s tax proposals will cost his family a couple hundred thousand a year, whereas McCain’s tax proposals will cut his own hundred-millionaire family’s taxes even more. Typical policy positions for a Republican and a Democrat.

            • Susan1968

You’re ignoring certain factors. During the last third of the primary when Obama had runout of caucus states to manipulate with his busloads of stormtroopers.

He LOST. He lost in important states.

Why? Because when people got to know him they voted, “No thanks.”

You act as if he really won the primary — he did not.

He needed the supers to put him over the top.

What does that mean? It means he can;t win a majority in his own party.

              • sfhillary

Bullshit. Here’s what really happened: Obama out-organized Hillary in the caucus states — you call them “stormtroopers,” I call them “legal voters” — and won just as many of the succeeding big states as she did. Clinton ran a great race, eventually; unfortunately, by the time she changed gears and found an effective groove, the race, mathematically, was already over. But assuming that just because Obama couldn’t defeat Clinton in, for instance, Pennsylvania, he therefore can’t defeat McCain there is just silly. As for people getting to know him — he began the primaries as an unknown with no name recognition, no money, no super-delegates and a very low percentage of Democratic voters saying they’d vote for him. Hillary began the primaries with over 100 super-delegates pledged to her, by far the greatest name recognition, by far the greatest fundraising network, and a huge lead in the polls.

Didn’t end that way, on any of those counts, did it? Don’t any of you PUMAs have the intellectual integrity to wonder whether there might be a reason for that other than your fantasies about the Obama camapaign’s mythical criminality?

                • Garfield

Not everyone on this site is part of PUMA.

You may want to go back to the Obama sites so you can feel smarter because you don’t sound so smart here.

                  • tzada

Keep in mind sf creature that millions voted for Barry Soetoro, before we knew that he was Barry Soetoro. I was one of those voters. We knew next to nothing about this man. For whatever reasons we had we voted for him. Then sites like this started the vetting process, and like an onion, the real BS/BO appeared. This process if done by the DNC or the MSM prior to super Tuesday would show an entirely different Democrat as the nominee.

Garfield is correct there are millions of us who are not PUMA. That said we have come together for the common good of the United States. That common goal has led us to put aside party affiliations, reach across the aisle and put Country before Party. The common goal that motivates millions, will lead to the defeat of Barry Soetoro. I would vote for the Easter Bunny, before ever voting for him again.

            • Pink Panther

              sf,
You may not know this but we live in a capitalistic society. In the event you have never taken an economics class, or read a book on the topic, capitalism is an economic system that allows private individuals to invest and operate within a free market, AND allows individuals to own private property.

As part of the capitalistic system, an individual may start and operate a business (or more than one business) and make a profit(s). Rather than eating at the taxpayers’ trough, individuals can be independent and self-sufficient and not rely on the government.

Does Obama not support capitalism or the right to own private property?

              • sfhillary

Hmmm…so, you’re saying you support McCain’s tax plan over Obama’s? You think that the richest 1% of Americans should have their taxes lowered even more, at a time when our national debt is already so high that we are literally selling off huge chunks of our industrial base to overseas companies who are swooping in and snapping up entire companies while the dollar is in a state of collapse?

Whatever, man. I’m here to argue with crazy Clinton pseudo-Democrats, not out-and-out Republicans. Face the facts, Pink — your era is over. Your party blew it. The public understands this and hates you all and will not vote for you again for a long time.

Our economy can’t survive the effects of an Obama tax increase
And I take Obama at his word for wanting to end NAFTA.
Of course if you knew anything about history you would know that increasing taxes and creating tariffs leads to a
                  Great Depression.
Maybe that’s what you guys want.

My party has been the Democratic Party but you are correct, the new Democratic Party has blown it by selecting a loser by the name of Obama for its Presidential nominee.

Obama is not going to change the tax plan because he is sponsored and endorsed by the wealthy. He has been supported by Soro, Wall Street and Silicon Valley billionaires. If you don’t know that by now, you haven’t done your homework on Obama’s background.

But that is not surprising given your misguided comments and wrong assumptions (e.g., everyone here is a PUMA member).

::finger wagging:: Uh, NOT so fast! I assume by the context in which you are using the phrase, “the public”, you’re probably referring mostly to Independents. Well, the BO DEMS are HOPING we’re PO’d enough to CHANGE the era, but hopin’ and wishin’ doesn’t always get you the change you want when BS is pulled in a Primary as it has been this year.

I’m an Independent and I was VERY PO’d. Ready to reactively and impulsively hit the Dem button all the way down the ticket UNTIL the Dems pulled THIS rabbit out of the hat (and he IS a rabbit as he hops ALL over the spectrum pandering to the group of the day or week).

When I did my OWN research and found out what he REALLY is…a phony who takes credit for everybody else’s work for one thing…and paid close attention as the Dem Primary unfolded, I slammed on the brakes and THAT vengeful attitude of mine came to a screeching halt PDQ.

The Dem leadership’s, Backtrack Barack’s, and John Edwards’ shenanigans have given me plenty of cause to pause and make me backitup, Jack.

Now? Fuhgettaboutit! I’ve heard, read and seen enough with my own eyes and ears and that impulsive reaction AIN’T gonna happen now.

I personally know many, many others in my state and a number of other states who have been and are on the same path as me.
When the pollsters call those of us who are undecided, we don’t tell them diddly squat. We don’t want to tell them what needs to be said and done to get our votes. We want the candidates to lay THEIR cards on the table so WE can see what hand THEY are holding.

I don’t look for many of us to fold anytime soon, either.

Allow me to educate you, honey. Centrists will roll to the right before they will go for an America bashing hater like Barry and his miserable spouse. We like balance but if the scales tip, we’ll go to the guy who’ll stand up for the country and not conspire with our enemies every time. So you have your little dream if you wish…but that’s all it is…you wish.

        • Susan1968

This Obama supporter is proud of a 3 point lead (average the polls and he has a 1 point lead)?

          Are you kidding me?

47% of Hillary supporters are either voting for McCain or still undecided.

You cannot “win big” with that many Democrats repulsed by the nominee.

          It won’t happen.

          • sfhillary

Well, the way the numbers work out, a lot of those “Hillary supporters” had to have been Republicans voting in Democratic primaries. If Obama were really losing 25% of all Democratic voters, he would be way behind McCain instead of slightly in front. It is true that he hasn’t “closed the deal” with a lot of voters. We start working on that this week. And then there are the debates. Obama isn’t the best debater, but if I were you I would not be too sanguine that your doddering fool of a candidate can speak live on TV for several hours without making any disastrous blunders.

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

“WE” start working on that? Um perhaps you should be more concerned with barky opening his mouth and inserting his foot. Throwing him in a closet like you did Michelle won’t work.

The republicans voting in open primaries were voting for the weaker candidate to win the Democratic race. They feared running anyone against Hillary. My Georgia relatives have always voted Democrat in the primary and Republican in the GE. works every time. The entire south has had this strategy at least since Carter (many southerners did give him a try…to their ever lasting regret). How the hell do you think they compromise this stupid bunch every time? Bill was the exception because he was a southerner and a centrist.

oopppss… I forgot PA… McCain is closing in on PA also.

            • sfhillary

I know, dude. It’s been a rough few weeks for Obama. Those who read NQ regularly know that I acknowledged weeks ago that McCain’s putting Steve Schmidt in charge of his campaign was a smart move, because Schmidt understands that a relentlessly negative, brutal campaign is McCain’s only chance of winning this year. And the attacks have clearly helped McCain, in the short term. But they come at a cost which may only become apparent later this year. He has damaged his own reputation, diminished his POW story to the point where commentators are mocking him for it, made it much easier for Obama himself to go negative, and in general just really hurt his own reputation, which raises the bar for his own VP pick and convention. And I just do not think the GOP is up to it this year.

              • Truthteller

God Damn the Democrats for nominating an unqualified man who hates the middle class for the Presidency. We need to keep an eye out for this. According to a NYT article I read some months ago, the Democratic Congress is going to do something to eliminate the Electoral College to insure a Democratic win. It has been started with Illinois, Maryland and I think Mass*. Well we all know about Illinois and why that Governor would do this, and the same for Mass*. I would think many SD reside in Maryland, if so I can see that angle as well.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about the electoral college and what the Democratic house is scheming will delve into this and let everyone know. The Electoral College was set up by the founding fathers for good reason.

            * Not sure of Mass being one of the 3.

I think that Obama’s pick of Biden is a really good choice, and show us some of the good judgment we will see when Obama is President. I also see that this pick scares the Republicans, if the FOX Republican Propaganda Network is any indication. Well, I think I will go donate another $250 to the Obama-Biden Campaign.

Biden doesn’t scare Republican’s. They are all high fiving and fist bumping.

The Biden pick tells me that every one else spurned Obama’s invitation to the big dance.

Hillary was not vetted because SHE DID NOT WANT the VP slot. And, she made that clear to Obama when they met after the primaries.

Biden effectively extinguishes Ibama’s dopey CHANGE and WASHINGTON OUTSIDER platform.

Thanks for confirming you’re a sexist pig.

            Just like your candidate.

            • George Miles

Actually, all I have confirmed is that I buy and drink beer and have seen a PA stripper. Now, explain to me how that makes me a sexist pig. I mentioned beer, does that make me an alcoholic? I have to admit, when I drink beer, I do get sexier, but I have never been a sexist and the only time I was ever been a pig was at a Las Vegas All You Could Eat Buffy.

              • Susan1968

Because you objectify women by your mentioning of strippers, tassels, et al.

And the fact that you don’t see this in yourself is further proof.

Most sexist pigs don’t realize they’re sexist pigs — their bias is so ingrained it’s second nature to them.

                • George Miles

Ok, I will admit that I do objectify women when I am attempting to be humorous. But, believe-you-me I do not objectify women on a personal, professional or philosophical plan. Humor is meant to be outrageous, and not taken seriously. I do feel for those that can’t recognize and enjoy joking, especially politically incorrect joking.

(CNN) – The Obama campaign has succeeded partly through astute, unprecedented use of the Internet. But some of the most obvious Web site domain names for the Obama-Biden ticket might not actually belong to the campaign anytime soon — if ever.

After hearing about Obama’s selection for his number-two slot, anyone who tried to surf to obamabiden.org was re-directed to an eBay page selling that domain name for a starting bid of $100,000.

As of 6:30 p.m. ET, there were no bids listed.

Biden wasn’t able to get himself the blue collar vote during his TWO BIDS for president.

If blue collar workers loved Biden so much why the heck has he failed each time he entered the presidential primary.

What is the chance that Biden was selected to be VP because Obama will not be the Democratic Presidential candidate through the entire fall process?

I ask this question based on:

Obama’s slip of the tongue (i.e., “The next President. . .Biden),

The lawsuit filed by Berg against Obama, and

Bill Clinton’s comment a few weeks ago about supporting the Democratic nominee if they could Constitutionally run for the office.

Biden just seems like an odd choice for Obama’s VP.

    • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

I thought about that too. Ibama’s slip could have been Freudian.

Biden’s slip was from the alcohol.

If you would like to see Obama’s birth certificate that show he was born to an American Citizen (his mother) in the State of Hawaii in 1961. I am 6 months older than Obama. Here is the link: http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/birthcert

      • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

You must be new here. That is not a birth certificate.

      • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

I am reposting this just for Georgie.

And Georgie, you may want to have a look at the lawsuit filed in Federal Court last Thursday contesting Ibama’s eligibility here:
        http://www.obamacrimes.com

The COLB issue is not dead.

NEWSWEEK on Obama’s Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth: “The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. We tried to ask the Hawaii DOH why they only offer the short form, among other questions, but they have not given a response.”

In Hawaii, anyone can claim they were born there, and submit evidence years after the birth to obtain a late “Certification of Live Birth”.

“Who is Eligible to Apply for Late Registration? As provided by law (HRS §§338-15, 338-29.5), the following persons may apply for late registration: Any person born in Hawaii who is one year old or older and whose birth has not been previously registered in Hawaii, or that person’s parent, guardian, next of kin, or older person acting for that person and having knowledge of the facts of birth may request the registration of a late certificate of birth.”

I do not think it is unreasonable to ask for the original hospital birth certificate or the other documentation that was submitted to Hawaii DOH.

It is possible that Ibama was born somewhere other than Hawaii, and later applied for the COLB. A sworn affidavit from his grandmother would be enough evidence to satisfy Hawaii DOH.
Since Ibama was in Seattle only weeks or days after being born, it is possible that he was not born in Hawaii.

The Hawaii DOH COLB is not conclusive evidence. I’d like to see the hospital birth certificate.
Even if Ibama was born in Hawaii, his mother registered his nationality and religion as Indonesian, and Islamic. His own mother identified Ibama as Not a US citizen, which makes Ibama a DeFacto Foreigner.

A POTUS must be, as the Founders intended, a LIFELONG US Citizen without exception.

The Founding Father’s knew that the loyalty of the President to the US Constitution was paramount to the posterity of this new democracy. Such loyalty was deemed so vital, that they included the clause “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

This distinction is magnified by the different standard for Congressmen and Senators. A Congressman need only have been a citizen for seven years, and nine years for a Senator.

“No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have been seven Years a Citizen of the United States”, and “No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States.”

Loyalty was so vital for the Executive that the Founders wanted a president who was a citizen when he passed from the womb and until his death, someone who’s loyalty to the US and Constitution would never be in doubt.

So, even with a Hawaii COLB, Ibama still has constitutional problems with becoming President.
And, even if he could overcome that issue, Ibama is still an inexperienced dilettante, with problematic associations, bad judgment, worse breath (people always pass out at his speeches), and indecisive chronic flip flopping.

        • George Miles

The silliness, of the claim that Obama is not a native born citizen of the USA is as silly as claiming McCain is not a native born citizen, because he was born in Panama… You, keep your hope alive and waste as much time on this subject as possible. Sure enough, on the homepage, right under the announcement, is a clip about Biden apologizing for his vote.

Michael Moore wrote about Obama choosing someone not in politics at all & suggested Caroline Kennedy (!??!) for VP.

Hillary’s vote to allow Bush start a War is one of the reason’s I did not support her in her run for Prez and I also applied this to any other candidate running for Prez. But, both Biden and Hillary later said that there vote was a mistake and I could accept that and support either Hillary or Biden as VP. Here’s an idea of how much this campaign thinks of the little people.

Keep in mind, Springfield has many choices that are climate controled. There’s an entire huge fairgrounds with air conditioned buildings or a huge grandstand with at least some airflow, and proper crowd management. But noooooooo, we have to have this event in one of the worst places possible logistically.

People were droppng like flies. This blogger at one point said he heard a loud thud. It was a guy’s head hitting the pavement after he passed out.

    http://blogs.sj-r.com/politics/

4:50 p.m.: Hospitals dealing with heat victims

Several people had to seek medical attention during Sen. Barack Obama’s Springfield visit at the Old State Capitol on Saturday.

The Springfield Fire Department’s division chief, Bob Reside, said his organization does not yet have a definitive count of how many people were treated, adding local paramedics were overwhelmed Saturday and called upon Menard, Morgan and Christian county ambulance services to help transport ill people to local hospitals.

“Heat was the biggest problem,” he said. “With that many people packed together on a hot, humid day without wind stirring is the perfect recipe for having something like this happen. We were doing our best to get water into the crowd.”

Reside said he talked to the medical directors for Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital, both of whom said they’re swamped with patients from the downtown event.

“They’re not even attempting to pull together information until all of this settles down,” he said about 4:30 p.m.

Felt like sitting on the street a few times instead of standing – the heat was so intense. So strange. The last Obama speech there was so cold – I attended that too.

A friend walked as close as he could to get some water, but the crowd was so packed he had to return without the water.

In this respect the event was poorly organized.

There should have been volunteers with duffel bags filled with free bottles of water going through the crowd giving water away.

So essentially the crowd was out there in horrible conditions not allowed to take their own water in for fear that someone would make a bomb with it – crazy, just plain crazy.

I came home, and went to a restaurant and could barely eat a bite, when my daughter said Dad it looks like you have heat exhaustion, drink some water.

So after several glasses of water I began to feel normal again – sort of.

Mayor Davlin if you read this, I live in Jerome so I’m not your constituent, but you should have got the Democratic Aldermen together and rounded up some teenagers to hand out water at various spots. They could have filled up, and come back over and over again.

It might have cost a few thousand dollars, but you could have had your volunteers dressed in political caps and shirts, etc.

That’s politics in the old fashioned way – and people remember that.

A missed opportunity to win over your voters as to your graceful caring ways.

Yeah, the anticipation of water needed was a major gaff. Everyone knew it would be wicked hot so what’s the hey? I particularly liked it as we were leaving, coming up on people charging $2 for a bottle of warm water out of a golf cart (which we bought out of desperation) only to find free water being handed out at the exit e few feet away. Nice. If I weren’t so hot and tired, i would have gone back to discourage more people from paying for water. There also could have been better crowd control so that people couldn’t keep coming onto the lawn after it was full. It was ridiculous how many people kept trying to squeeze their way thru….all while other people were dropping from the heat. Yeah, pack more people in. Brilliant. It was an exciting day all in all but as usual, local management of the event left a lot to be desired.

I was 2 people away from that guy in the picture when he went down and started convulsing. Thankfully there was a doctor nearby. The city also did not plan enough emergency exits for fire and police to get in and out effectively. There was absolutely no way to get that guy out on a stretcher with the sea of people and only one entrance on the east side of the lawn. There was the press entrance around the riser but the geniuses that put it up didn’t make it wide enough to get a stretcher through. The paramedics stood dumbfounded when the secret service told them they’d have to go through the mass of people to get the guy out. This guy is lucky he didn’t get seriously injured and was able to walk out with help because it would have taken an hour to get him out of that crowd. Everyone in the crowd was lucky nothing happened either because the lack of proper emergency exits would have created a massive panic and major problems.

      What is wrong with people?

“At one point in the early afternoon, police carried a sluggish, red-cheeked toddler out of the Old State Capitol plaza because the child was overcome by the heat.”

There was another mention of a baby being wheeled out of the crowd due to heat. Yes, wheeled. As in stroller.

It appears neither were paying attention to the teleprompters. I suggest in the future, they get a really large one to put behind them so all of us at home can read along.

At an event to introduce one’s running mate you would think someone would have realized that showing up informal without one’s suit jackets is a no-no. Shirt-sleeves are fine if they’re touring a factory. If they can’t stand the heat of an Illinois August day in a suit jacket for the formal announcement of the running mate, neither is ready for the executive branch.

If they were trying to look sexy to catch my interest and vote or to look like working people, they failed. Working people don’t wear crisp white shirts with silk ties on Saturday afternoons in August. They’re in t-shirts and polos, unless they’re at a wedding or funeral. At those events, the suit jackets don’t come off until after the ceremony and meal.

My neighbor’s granddaughter has a hermit crab named Daisy who could do a better job of running Senator Obama’s campaign.

I think using Biden’s remarks about McCain to show hypocrisy on his part is a misuse of a really deep down nice guy just being gracious.

    • Karma

Even FoxNews was saying that Biden isn’t a guy/politician who lies to them.

Trying to claim Biden was being gracious about McCain, like it was simply a professional courtesy.

Ignores the facts that partisan politics has been the rule not the exception on the airways. If indeed this was simply a professional courtesy then a compliment is always followed by a slam.

Which was never the case with McCain. To try and claim as much is revisionist history. McCain is the only Republican I have heard consistant and geniune praise from Democratic politicians.

And during the 2004 election. Every Dem I ran across only became encouraged about Kerry when he considered McCain as his running mate.
