Finesse: An Opposite View

It is time for Barack Obama and the media to acknowledge THEIR direct culpability in alienating all of us.

It is long past TIME for Barack Obama to admit his direct participation in why so many of Hillary’s supporters remain opposed to him.

Has he EVER courted us? No.

Has he ever apologized for the blatant sexism in the campaign? No.

Did he conduct the de rigueur vetting of Hillary Clinton to be his vice presidential running mate? No.

Has he made any serious effort to aid Hillary in retiring her debt? No.

There has been NO outreach from Obama himself OR from his campaign to any of us. The media have also failed — utterly — to report Obama’s culpability in our alienation from his candidacy.

Why did he not realize that it was vitally important that he — at the least — make a demonstration of vetting Hillary for the vice presidential nomination, no matter his intention not to select her?

1) It is the polite and considerate thing to do.

2) It is always done because the feelings of the other candidate’s supporters require it.

Susan Estrich spoke about this eloquently over the weekend on Fox News. She described the lengths that she went to, while working on a campaign, to ensure that the runners-up received the FULL “vetting” experience. They were asked for their financial records. They were flown in for a meeting and lunch. They were called and consulted.

Susan admitted that the campaign had no serious intention of selecting one runner-up, but that that was NOT the point. The point was to make sure that this candidate and all of his supporters felt that he was given fair consideration. And he was.

Why did Barack Obama not understand this basic ritual of presidential politics?

Why did Barack Obama think he could get away with being so RUDE to Hillary Clinton and to her supporters?

Lynn Forester used the word “ungracious” to describe Barack Obama’s failure to help Hillary retire her debt. That word again applies to Mr. Obama’s management of the vice presidential vetting process.

Instead of wooing us, and instead of showing us that he has the highest regard for our candidate, he continues to alienate us.

Barack, do you really think you have a chance to win without courting us?

You may think that you can wait until the general election to win us over, but it may already be too late.

You lost your chance because you failed to show simple courtesy to the candidate who received more votes than ANY primary candidate in HISTORY.

And you wonder why we complain about your arrogance?

You wonder why we remain alienated from you?

Instead of grousing about us, you should first take a long hard look in the mirror.

Deb Bartoshevich has just done an ad for McCain. Devastating.

    • Scully

Yes, I saw that. Wow, what a campaign so far. It’s all so facinating. But, then I keep remembering how at the end of it all Obama is still the nominee.

      • Jane

Exactly, which is why I can’t give up hoping for her to be nominee.

        • http://liberalrapture.com scott in jupiter

It doesn’t matter what happened in the primaries.
Hillary got screwed and so did we, end of story.
End of the day barkys not qualified to be POTUS so it doesn’t matter if he apologizes or gets down on his knees and begs for out votes. HE IS NOT QUALIFIED so don’t vote for him I know I wont be.

If you think the Bartosevich ad was bad — and it is — then the video of a FOX reporter being assaulted by Recreate ’68 reporters could be even worse.

The video is bad enough by itself, and gives visible ‘evidence’ of what many are now claiming is the authoritarian left, but there is more. I went and looked for reaction to this incident, and found — on the rec list — a diary at Daily Kos that celebrated this assault on the reporter.

            No kidding.

See the video. It has the link to the Daily Kos diary:

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc6XJ_J1o4A

Now, I know many will say that there is no direct tie between Recreate 68 and Barack Obama, or the party. That may be true, I’m not sure, but as we all know here on No Quarter, the tactics of thuggery, bullying and intimidation are very much practiced by Obama’s Chicago outfit. And, of course, Daily Kos is one of the biggest Obama supporting entities anywhere.

This video gives all of those who have suffered having private information posted, blogs shut down, bosses called, etc. a visual aide to say “That’s what I’m talking about, and what I’m afraid could happen if Obama and the authoritarian left comes into power.”

It compliments the Bartosevich ad, and gives a good idea why some such as Debra are not joining in with the Daily Kos crew in supporting the presumptive nominee.

            • May

Wow, there were children in that crowd. That is very sad to see and my heart is pounding and I am shaking after seeing that because I wanted to run in and grab the kids away from those people. They should be ashamed of themselves. I believe in the right to protest, but there are better ways to get your message out and for godsake, leave the children out of this pushing and cursing.

            • bmc

What concerns me is that these people are only labeled as “DNC protesters.” Who they really are is not clear, so any and all of those who don’t support the DNC is tainted by association with these thugs.

          • http://inyourface.info Hank Roth

Exactly right Scott in Jupiter. This is Hank Roth in Ocala. The party is over and the story has been told. There isn’t any apology which can make a difference. The problem is Obama. The choice is simple. We have to support McCain, even if it means for some of us, holding our nose while we do it. There was a lot I did not like about Hillary if truth be known. I don’t care who it is, I would not approve of everything but with Obama, he is everything I have seen during my life that is wrong with us as a species. He is a phony, he is a liar, he is a fake, he is an opportunist and he is selling a false dream and I think it is possible Sinclair told the truth (Why would Larry lie? He is dying of cancer.) AND he is overly influenced by a Syrian and other Arabs with money so he may also be a mole and that really concerns me. He is incompetent. AND I could go on. No apology would do it for me.
            IT would be a lie.

i’m with you on all the points you mentioned.

my first choice was Hillary Clinton. there was no one else who could come close to a second choice in that pack of has rans.

. and i also think Sinclair is not lying. interesting that joe biden’s son in DC was at the helm when Larry S. was mugged by the cops and held in jail because of his press conference at the Press Club in Dc. it’s a miracle Sinclair is still alive. his visibility protects him(for now).

    • Jason

How is this devastating? All those ads are just going to blow up in his face tomorrow when Hillary makes a brilliant speech and throws all her support behind BO and trashes McCain.

How are you supporting her by supporting McCain?

      • beebop

Do you not read? We’re not here to support anyone off a cliff like the botts. We aren’t supporting an unqualified, unprincipled, unscrupulous person even if he does claim to be a Democrat. Now toddle off!

Stop name calling and answer the question.

Obviously you can support whoever you want – but don’t pretend you are somehow supporting Hillary by supporting McCain.

Additionally, I was responding to someone’s comment that McCain’s ads are somehow devastating. They will be – but only to him.

          • Postmaster

wrong Jason, everyone has already heard and seen Hillary say that SHE and McCain are experienced and quaified and that Obama is not. Even Biden has nothing but kind words for McCain. It’s going to blow up alright, blow Obama and his thugs out of the water in the GE. Hide and watch. Hillary was robbed..by voting McCain, Hillary will get her chance in 2012…..get it?

      • http://motorcityliberal.blogspot.com Motorcityliberal

How are they going to blow up in McCain face? I think the new one with the Clinton supporter jumping ship is pretty clever and that’s hard for Republicans to be. People know what these ads are about pouring more gas on the fire that Obots and their dear leader Obama created for themselves. As for Hillary speech, it would have no impact on me because what the Obama campaign did and how the DNC behave if the DNC could do that to the Clintons of all people who else wouldn’t the DNC screw over to ensure their desire candidates’ victory? What’s the point supporting the Democratic party when it’s nothing more then WWE political style where its scripted and the outcome is already known to the elites of the Democratic party.

If Senator Clinton wants to give a speech telling her supporters to support Senator Obama and forget he used the Bush/Rove 2000 playbook against her that’s fine and that every Obot from Kos to Ed Schultz(alright I really hate that guy) called Clinton voters racist and low information voter that’s fine but at the end of the day it’s up to each Clinton supporter to think for themselves.

roseriter – thanks so much for your comment!

The Dem Establishment propped up a newbie senator for one reason only - to keep Hillary off the ticket.
The Dem Establishment fixed the nomination for Obama longggg before the primary even began – and helped Obama to choreograph his candidacy from the beginning.
When Kerry endorsed Obama last December, John Edwards said Kerry had told him last summer that he was endorsing Obama.
Kerry didn’t endorse him last summer in order to give the appearance that Obama had “won” the endorsement of the Establishment – when the roll out of endorsements was planning longgg before the primary began.

The Dem Party’s Nazi tactics guarantee this Dem family will vote for McCain.

      • bert

I agree joseyj. In addition, Susan, to Obama not courting us, the DNC has played a huge role in this mess. They should have been observers of the process not micromanaging the election process. And they should have let the people, the voters, make their wishes known at the ballot box. Instead they played king maker and f*cked up badly. They need to go when Obama loses. Their fingerprints are all over this debacle.

neither did Barack or Michelle. Bill Clinton certainly did. It took George H.W. Bush calling Clinton up and garnering his help so that junior (George W.) wouldn’t look like the uncaring ass that he is!!

Bill and Hillary have done more to help the poor, abused, forgotten, and downtrodden than Obama and Michelle will ever do.

Obama has pretty much avoided talking about issues that impact black America the only time Obama talks to black people is when he needs to rail up the vote.

        • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

To be perfectly blunt: The ideal scenario is if Barack Obama loses in November and Hillary & Bill Clinton remain forceful enough that they — along with their DNC allies — can regain control of the DNC. Then they can also move the DNC from Chicago whereas, if Obama wins, it is sure to stay there and be forever riddled with Chicago-style corruption.

It is also our greatest hope for finally doing away with caucuses. (A huge issue for me since I was personally disenfranchised in February.)

          • bert

the leadership of the Democratic party have to be swept out first – though Obama’s campaign and his Chicago cabal infiltrating it will make it even more difficult.

I propose that the JSND coalitions and many of us who are PUMAs and simply disenchanted Democrats/former Democrats form a watch-dog group whose intent is to reform the elements of the Democratic party which were against Clinton and include a) ending caucuses b) ending sexism in the media c) getting rid of current DNC leadership and supporting potential leaders who have the backbone to do the right thing and d) lobbying McCain and moderate Republicans to include womens rights, reform of health care

Joe Scar laid out the game plan by which the rightwingers took over the country. They started in the SCHOOL BOARDS. Joe himself used to fly back from DC to attend school board meetings.

The people who post on internet boards, they just want some flashy instant fix, like a genie coming out of a bottle and blinking away the problem.

But there are Dems already working on the problems to ensure a better future. Bill Nelson, Dem Senator from FL, has introduced voting reform legislation….one vote, one person. It addresses the problems of the primary season, caucuses, etc.

We can get behind that, for starters…but our immediate problem is
loudly proclaiming our protest so that they know if they nominate Obama after all the election rigging, he is not getting our votes.

      • TeakwoodKite

To take regain control of the Party, SusanUnPc, one must consider where the “center of gravity” is and how it cam be made off balance.

Confronting this monster head on is not a necessarily the most effective way of neutralizing the luney peanut gallery left. While a frontal blocking action might slow it…

The flanks of the DNC are bare and unprotected. The strategy that BO wrote about, back in 2004 on kos in a diary, talked about making the center left turn to argue with the far left…
The centrists of the Dem party were not “LEADING” and this can be changed.

Infiltration takes time and there little of that. What of the short term?

I am always amused when I am told that if one votes for McCain that I Am not a Democrat…

How much vetting other than legal or moral indictments of BO or anyone close to him can be done is not known.

        I say

…attack BO, make him close ranks and cause his reactions to become vicious and petty. Freeze his pieces in place and flank em… BO’s and the DNC’s indifference in the end will undermine any “power” they acquire but that will be a function of time and will burn out.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. is of the same mentality of Obamabots who claimed after Hillary withdrew – “it’s the first time a Black man wasn’t hanged for beating a White woman.”
Obama has focused his campaign solely on Race – to distract from his Empty Suit – and his bots and the media have accommodated him.

      • Hope

Well if he supports Obama he must be a supporter of lying, pandering, flip flopping, illegal contributions, extramarital sex, infanticide, terrorist appeasing, money laundering, voter fraud and intimidation, misongyny,FISA, and so on and so on.
Applying morality to Jackson, by that standard alone makes him incredible. Who cares what he says!!!
All Obots are the same; supports of the worst character flaws humanly possesed..how can they expect to have anyone believe them now?

In my opinion, this is all kind of silly. Me disliking Barack Hussein Obama and me not ever casting a vote for him has really nothing to do with me thinking Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the best
person for the job as President of the United States of America. Hillary just happened to be the person running against him.

So, it’s her fault that I can’t stand him??? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t be voting for him no matter who ran against him. I have not approved of him since the first moment I saw him.

  • nobonomo

Why would anyone want to be acknowledged by Obama or his campaign? Good Lord, with all that has been discussed and exposed about him on this blog and elsewhere the fact that anyone would consider voting for him if he would just throw out a bone is absurd.

It’s like being beaten up by a louse but still begging for a compliment. Get a grip. This site is sounding very much like TM’s and that is not a good thing.

No, I think people are puzzled over why Obama never even tries to do the right thing. It’s against his own interests to alienate Hillary supporters.

I have a running list of Obama’s missed opportunities, not because I think he’s going to apologize and make it right, but because each incident was like giving us the finger and it reminds me why I don’t like him.

BO is so stupid, it’s simply amazing. By picking Joe Biden as VP, he just gives the middle finger once again to all of us women who remember the Anita Hill hearings….

I found this very interesting link where one of Ms. Hill’s lawyers speaks out and it isn’t complimentary of Biden AT ALL. In fact it served to absolutely enrage me that he picked him. What a stupid, fracking idiot. He just doesn’t get it…bad enough to not pick Hillary, but Biden’s history on Anita Hill is a slam dunk reason for BO not to have chosen him…WHAT AN IDIOT…apparently Biden wasn’t vetted very welll….

I just don’t get it, is he wanting to alienate women of a certain age everywhere or???

O’Reilly talks about that a lot.

  • pm317

Susan, ok, he fully vetted her and considered for VP and then decided no — what possible reason would they give the public that would be satisfactory? What possible reason would she give her supporters for accepting it (if she had) that would be satisfactory? This whole thing is a fxxking mess that was the result of interference from day one by the DNC and the media. SDs had a chance to rescue it in June but they did not have the courage.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

Where is the change. Blaming a woman for one’s fall from grace is as old as Adam and Eve.

Everday there are articles raising the stakes higher and higher for Hillary’s cooperation to ensure Obama’s victory and lowering the bar lower and lower to blame her for his defeat.

Hillary needs to stop jumping to Obama’s sour tune. It is time for her to distance herself from this continued blame game that is as old as Adam blaming Eve for his own poor decisions.

Hillary, the more you dance to Obama’s tune the more you lose your political future. It is time to change this tired, old biblical bad karma women have been suffering under and put the responsibiity and the accountability back where it has always belonged: on men’s own poor decisions and desire to blame someone else for their own faults.

Rise up Hillary and tell them you (and we) are not going to take this anymore. That is your political future, Hillary. And it is not being housekeeper for the messes Obama, and Obama alone, have created.

    • Jane

Where is the change. Blaming a woman for one’s fall from grace is as old as Adam and Eve.

I can’t decide if woman have been set back about 20 years because of Obama’s campaign
      or
woman are finally seeing the outright misogyny that we always knew existed but was often dismissed.

      • notodisenfranchisement

Jane – I think the latter while the former reinforced sexism/misogyny and sent a message to women that society can get away with it and women are under the bus.

        short answer: both

      • BobO

Brazen misogyny. I’m reading this (ahem)article on Politico and not only it is brazenly sexist, it quotes an unnamed powerful Congress Rep as saying:

An influential member of Congress, who was being wooed furiously by both Clinton and Obama, was invited to meet with the people of Hillaryland. He declined. “That’s OK,” he said. “I’ve already seen ‘The Vagina Monologues.’”

I’d really like to know who said this so all of his women constituents can be made aware of just precisely how he feels when there are a lot of women in a Presidential campaign. Seriously. I think that’s just a little important.

  • beebop

I will neither be fooled by courting nor encourage them with false promises.

I didn’t ever expect 0bama to apologize for either the mysogomy or the racism because he and his campaign brought them. Without them, he could not win the primary. Now that he has “secured” the Democratic nomination, he needs us to forget. BS to you BO.

No kiss and make up necessary. Not voting for you under any circumstances. William Jefferson Clinton deserved better from you and this party than he got. You flunked the first leadership test.

  • No Obamislamists

Pretty hard to unite people when Obama ran a scorched earth policy campaign. Sure, he gamed the system and won, according to whatever bogus “rules”, but the fact remains that to alienate the Clintons he had to turn them into cross burning, hood wearing racists, Bill Clinton specifically.

Kind of hard to portray people as racists and then say “just messing with you. Let’s all be united now.”

Yesterday, after Penn. Gov. Ed Rendell said the media coverage and promotion of Obama in the primary was “embarrassing”. He then added “Hillary wants to run again”. That is a direct reference to 2012. She will go through the motions but she does NOT want Obama to win.

    • Obama’s gums look sick

No body wants Obama to win. This is not Hillary’s burden to shoulder. Nor is his loss her’s to blame. No one wants Obama. Blame me. Blame us all. But no one can blame only Hillary. Bullox.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

It is time to dust off those old copies of “When God Was a Woman” and depart from the failed Judeo-Christian blame women for everything since the beginning of creation mythology.

Women in the feminist movement looked well beyond this limited Judeo-Christian cultural ethic (thank god I was not born a woman, blame Eve for Adam’s fall crap).

It is time to move past this misogynist male dominance crap …….. and rebirth the 1970′s. This is change that died aborning by male hegemony when women lost their way again. This is the real story played out right now in the Democratic Party. People think something has “changed” because it is a black male instead of a white male doing the dirty work.

But nothing has changed. Change is finally telling Barack Obama, the DNC and all his screaming lackies to go to hell.

Women, our name is legion. And hell hath no fury as a woman scorned. It is time to exercise that power and scorch the earth.

    • Obama’s gums look sick

No one is asking to be as your quaintly put it “courted”. You again totally miss the point.

Accountability is the key word her, not more obsequious pandering. The DNC has lost all accountability. It is no longer a party of hope for millions and millions of women.

    • nobonomo

I agree. Susan is not the same Susan and her posts of late are of great concern. After all is said and done the fact that she wants acknowledgement from the useless POS is simply astounding not to mention demeaning.

Susan, wake up! Walk away, do whatever you have to do because playing the victim does not suit you.

      • J.J.

I think Susan is trying to steer us toward in the end voting for Obama.

        • bert

I don’t think that at all, J.J. I think Susan is simply trying to make sure that while we express our support for Hillary and will vote our conscience that we do not burn our bridges behind us either. We need to do the former without damaging us and Hillary for the fight ahead.

Hillary is not going to get the nomination this year. So we also have to begin planning for the aftermath of the Democrat’s loss and for 2012. I don’t want to put words in Susan’s mouth. She is very capable of saying what she thinks. But that is my take on these discussions.

        • Postmaster

No one can steer this ‘typical white person’ to vote for Obama…never happen! Maybe if he had paid his dues like Hillary and McCain he would be a viable candidate, but the way I see it, he will never be after the mess he and Pelosi, Kerry, Reid blah blah blah have created. John McCain for me!

        • TeakwoodKite

SusanUnPC, has no intrest in steering anyone to vote for BO or anybody else. Or did you miss the banner on the top of this site? “I own my vote”. Kinda sums it up, don’t it?

These are un-chartered waters for many people. Having been intentional shown the door …many people are looking at the place they had lived for decades and are saying,

“This not the home I knew”.

Hell of thing, having one’s house remodled by squatters after being party jacked by facist thugs.

Sub-prime politics and the company store are what one is forced to contented with. Sharecropping politics is the lay of the political landsacape. I would not fault someone for seeking political refuge by “owning” 40 dollars (read IPod) and a mule. As long as they understand they are the ones being “rented” and kicked. Notice to quit will be served on Nov 4.

Slavery takes many forms but one common theme has always been poverty.
This poverty I speak of is not what Rev. Wright and his ilk, including BO or anyone else speak to.

I know it when I see it.

          * While considering your choices, keep in mind that the last eight years of “extra-constitutional” rule will not be exposed or any of the players brought to justice and held accountable. None of the “spooks” who brought these asshats to the party will allow that to happen. It is about the all mighty dollar and nothing more. Who has it, who wants it, and what all of them will do to keep it.

Hillary is playing this exactly right–in fact I would guess that during the Feinstein secret meeting that she told him she would support him if he never asked her to be his veep. Just think if he asked her and she turned him down(as she would have to, she would never be on the same ticket of someone who is going to be destroyed in October)she would be blamed even more for her ‘divisive action.’ She needs to play this out, give a great speech like she always does, present herself as the experienced, competent, dignified empathic commander in chief that she could have been and show the stark contrast between herself and the One. Believe me, the ads are al;ready starting and this is just the mild stuff the Repubs are going with, wait till the dirt comes out in the fall. It’s almost impossible to tolerate but I understand that Hillary has to court the Obama supporters if she is to win in 2012. To do that, she has to carry water for Obama and do it flawlessly. She is doing a great job so far – as sick as it makes us to watch her do it.

As for Obama, I’m really struck by his obliviousness when it comes to the Hillary diehards. He keeps sticking his finger in our collective eye with some kind of….what?…juvenile petty vindictiveness? What else can it be?

I really believe Obama thinks he can do all this to us like some abusive boyfriend and then sweep us off our feet on Thursday night with a soaring speech that will mesmerize us into…insanity?

Can he really be that in love with himself? Did I hear somene say YES?

      “struck by his obliviousness”
It’s not obliviousness it’s megalomania–he really doesn’t believe he needs the voters who voted for Hillary during the primaries–he’s very insulated from the reality of what is about to hit him, it’s beyond denial or even ignorance, it’s sociopathic narcissism and the people behind this whole scheme are allowing him to feel that nothing, not even losing Hillary supporters, will affect his winning the election. But they couldn’t achieve this without a candidate who IS arrogant, elitist and pathologically out of touch with America. After the conventions let the real games begin.

If the supers don’t wake up then I vote for McCain, someone who voted against bush’s tax cuts, someone who voted against cheney’s energy bill (obama voted for it) someone who will put country before party. What has happened I will never forgive, condone, or forget.

***UPDATE Re: Federal Lawsuit Against Obama

I am hearing that the US Marshalls Office has served Obama and the DNC with the lawsuit. remember, the presiding judge did not sign a TRO last week, but requested Berg (the Plaintiff) to serve the defendants (Obama, DNC, et al.) and then once served, the matter would come back before the court this week.

    http://www.timesherald.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20089295&BRD=1672&PAG=461&dept_id=33380&rfi=6

    From article today, 8/25/08:

Sean Smith, Obama’s Pennsylvania communications director, was contacted Friday about the suit but declined comment.

The civil suit filed by Berg will be reviewed by the U.S. Federal Election Commission, according to Patty Hartman, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The importance of this story is more than the salacious aspects (the press love to dig into the Clintons), or the hurt feelings of Hillary’s supporters. It is what the story tells the voters about The Anointed One. He is a cold, calculating, self-absorbed politician insensitive to the need of voters. His campaign’s “It will rectify itself,” meme equally points to a flaw in Obama’s character, an odd passivity when it is unwarranted. These shortcomings are not small flaws, but huge deficiencies in the the Party’s candidate, which created a disaster for the Democratic Party that all of Hillary and Bill Clinton’s pleas cannot fix, never mind a last minute reach-out to the disaffected voters by the Great One himself.

There is a rumor circulating in the GOP circles that something is going to happen in the next few days that will destroy Obama as a candidate and the expected hope of blame of the exposure will be targeted by Obots on Hillary, thus eliminating two opponents especially the one they fear, Hillary, and leaving the DNC in complete disarray.

Could this simply be the “whitey” tape. I read reports that Hillary’s campaign may have been aware of these. The GOP might be hoping that the Obama camp will say she leaked them as a smear. I don’t think people will buy that at all.

    • Hope

IF so, Hillary did not use them to her advantage in the primaries.

    • Susan

I think it may be the lawsuit action, challenging his citizenship. Think about it. This will destroy Obama and the GOP can argue that Clinton knew this info and did nothing to tell American voters. Is Berg a Clinton supporter really or doing this for the GOP? Why did he wait so long with this?

I dont put much stock in internet rumors, but I just came accross one that made ALOT of sense. When McCain goes on Leno tonight, he suprisingly announces Sarah Palin for VP. For one it takes away some of the spotlight of the messiah convention, but more importantly it drives that wedge big time between Hillary supporters and Obama right in the middle of the convention. And thirdly it provides a nice little contrast with Obama who endlessly played out his VP pick for ever ounce he could milk it for vs. McCain who would be announcing out of the blue. Kinda lends to the all rock star no substance image of Obama. I for one think it would be a BRILLANT idea. Not to mention Sarah Palin would bring alot to the ticket over the long run. Shes a woman, she adds pizaaz, shes a former beauty queen, meaning she could appeal to both men and women, as well as the fact she is a govenor, so she has experience running something, and she is loved by the conservatives, so McCain can still look like a “maverick” for picking a woman, but does not have to worry about his base complaining, like he would with ridge or lieberman. Yeah sure her resume is not big on overall experience, but still she has more experience that Obama who is at the top of the ticket. I think if McCain actually did this, then it would be the end game for Obama.

  • ugo

There is old song that goes, “… now that we find love what are we gonna to do with it…”, they forced the only qualified candidate, Sen. Hillary Clinton out of the nomination process. She loved them, given them the chance to make their change and they turn around and blame her. They are still blaming her. What is wrong with you Obamasgang?

The Clintons made more contribution to all of us, we in the AA community benefited more from them, some of us turn around and call them racist. We flocked over to Obama. Now Obama has what he wanted, please tell Obama camp to stop blaming the Clintons.

That would make sense, after the Clintons have their say.

Also, what about the rumor that Obambi is speaking on Wed instead of Thur?

Did he move that to try to upstage the Big Dog?

      • sowsear

He could move his throne over there today. Then he could make his pronouncements whenever he felt the need for applause.

I have not once expected any *courting* or *wooing* from Obama. And while Senator Clinton may have been my choice, what Obama does or does not do to get my vote does not matter to me one iota. I decided in January that he was not qualified to be POTUS and that has not changed. Hence, he will not get my vote in November.

I don’t understand anyone having *hurt* feelings over this Primary. I simply made an educated choice and I do not feel that Obama owes me anything. What I did learn is that the MSM over-values themselves and WE give them far too much power. I have also learned that the Democratic Party is no different at playing dangerous games with our Republic than the Republican Party is…a tough reality to face.

Truthfully, I do not see Obama winning the presidency and this gives me hope that we will have a truly strong candidate in 2012.

  • DAB

The reason that Obama did not make even the slightest effort to court Clinton voters is because he assumes that when push comes to shove, long-time Dems will fall into line so why bother? Don’t fall into his trap.

He has taken every opportunity to poke the Clintons in the eye with his Solis Doyle, obscene gestures, 3-am call, etc. etc. We don’t need another jerk in the White House. I don’t agree with John McCain on everything, but he’s not a major JERK! Besides who can tell what a President will do once in office. Remember Nixon in China?

  • beverly leslie

I respect what everyone has to say but I myslef am quite over the idea of Barky ever doing the “right” thing when it comes to Hillary or her supporters. There is no hope for that and any move they make is for the betterment of their position and has nothing to do with us except the hope they will receive our votes. I consider myslef smarter than they think I am.

Anyone who is having qualms voting for a Republican, I ask you to watch this video part 3 of we will not be silenced. Listen to the older AA woman toward the middle or end of part three. She tells how when in Indiana for the Primary she got out to walk around a neighborhood and saw a group of men in front of a polling place, an elderly woman comes walking down the street and she was told “if she ain’t voting for Obama she’d had better turn around and go home” and she did, turn around to go home. This is what you can expect with an Obarky Presidency. Don’t fool yourself, this comes from the top down. So while you are squeezing your hands, shaking and unsure what to do with your vote, know that this is going on here in America and you were unsure how to stop such behavior.

I have a chance to stop it with my vote, and be sure about it, I will with not one ounce of guilt. I have never voted republican and I don’t give a shit what anybody says or thinks of me because of it. I am standing up for the rights of all people by using my vote against the bullying tactics of Obambi and his brownshirsts. If you can’t get the courage to use yours for the right reasons, you have only yourself to face, when bullies tell you to go home if you are not voting for their candidate.

If Obama wanted to be leader of the Democratic Party, he needed to act like a “big man” and bring the party together.

    He failed to do this.

Instead of working to unite the party, he took a trip to Europe and went on vacation in Hawaii.

The Obama supporters had a few months to try to charm and win over the Hillary supporters. They have failed to do this. Quite the opposite: the strategy of the Obama supporters seems to be to threaten and insult Hillary supporters.

This attack-strategy continues to this day, on this blog, as seen by the comments of Obama supporters.

I assume that the Obama supporters will continue to attack Hillary supporters every single day right up to the election.

    Message delivered, message received.

They tried to play Republican on this

Problem is, the pacifists of the DEM party (that’s at least half of them) are mostly elite and non violent types that would easily be herded into an Obama camp and NOT likely to argue with them but also NOT going to be in DENVER fighting against PUMA. (maybe verbally)

I just looked at her wiki listing…she is a real light-weight on paper. I think McCain’s VP choice will be more important than Obama’s. Because of McCain’s age and medical history, people will look hard at who would take over if McCain became disable or died in office. A very experienced, middle aged, VP of either gender will sew it up for McCain.

Clinton preaches unity at her first (not so unified) convention gig

Excerpt: Asked why some of her supporters are still adamant they will not vote for Obama no matter how much she encourages them to do so, Clinton said: “I don’t know, I’m doing everything I can possibly do, and I think we have made a strong case.”

Clinton gives a prime time convention speech Tuesday night, and the following day will gather her delegates together and publicly release them and urge them to support Obama.

Many of those delegates, she said, will likely vote for him, but “others feel an obligation to the people who sent them here that they were elected to represent.”

Yes. John McCain who swore in a megachurch that he has always been an anti-choice candidate, who voted against S-Chip, who would not change the party platform to include abortion exceptions to women who were raped, who stated that he would not have appointed any of the liberal judges on the supreme court, who gets his jollys by joking about women getting raped by gorrilas, who left his crippled wife for a younger richer woman, and called his wife a cunt in public is the TRUE protector of women’s rights.

We’ve got to become energy independent; we have to create millions of new green collar jobs. We’ve got so much work to do around the world.

“None of that will happen if John McCain is in the White House. I just want to make it absolutely clear we cannot afford four more years of George W. Bush’s failed policies in America and that’s what we would get with John McCain. Now I understand that the McCain campaign is running ads trying to divide us and let me state what I think about their tactics and these ads: I am Hillary Clinton and I do not approve that message.

It has been a long time since I had watched MSNBC,
Joe Scarborough, daf Mika, Harold Ford, and Rev.
Eugene Rivers having an a much needed discussion about: what happens IF Obama should loose! Harold left and the discussion continued with Mike Barnicle.
The premise put forth by Rev. Rivers is that the
expectations by the elite media have been so inflated
with regard to Sen. Obama and “hard examination” of
his positions have gone unchecked. He says his media
fans have done him a dissevice.
Susan, it would be great if you could put up Rev.
    Rivers various appearances.
He was saying it was ON Obama to reach out to voters with specifics, he lambasted his performance at Saddleback and how people from the black church took his response on “when life begins”.
It was a very interesting point of view. Also, Rep
Loretta Sanchez, Joe commented on, how she remains
loyal to Hillary. When asked why she hadn’t given her
support to Obama. She said, “he hasn’t asked me.”
    Arrogant expectations.

I’m hearing that the DNC voted to restore full voting rights to the delegates from Michigan and Florida? Is this true? Am I dreaming? Those swarmy jerks. You know if they did that during the primaries Hillary would likely be the nominee. Jesus! (or should I say “Obama!” since he is The One).

    • democracyfirst

Yes – but they already announced the roll call is fixed (not in those words) – see above.

You know, I am thinking O’boy is right about something. He really does not need Hillary’s 18 million voters.

If Gore and Kerry lost another 18 million votes from their totals, with half of those voting for Bush, they still would have lost.

No difference, just like Gore and Kerry, Obama will lose with or without them.

But, I’m voting for McCain anyway. So I can be proud to have done something positive for my Country.

  • JP49

Recreate 68 demonstrators are a diversion so the real protesters will not be heard. Recreate 68 is just a front for the Obama campaign so the news media will focus on them and not on Puma or anyone else with a real reason to demonstrate. When the reporter from Fox tried to ask them what they were protesting, no one answered except to slam Murdoch and Fox. We have to get over it. The democratic party is dead except for the Clintons. The news media is dead. On Fox last night they were talking about Obama and again stated that 200,000 fans showed up in Germany to hear him speak. No they didn’t, they showed up for free concerts, beer and food. Obama was nearby but they did not show up for him. Anyway, I voting straight republican. There are very very few real democrats left. I’ll bide my time and work to rid the party of the stench that now infects it.

As I told my friend this morning Obama is not a candidate that has the skills and knowledge I believe are required to be President, at all I might add. Sure he is popular with some, a Party Icon maybe, but not a substantive candidate for President in my view. My decision is based on his voting record, his debate performance, his use of grievance victimization and identity grudges during the Primary, and his judgment of who he surrounds himself with and the unethical purchase of his home with Rezko while the latter was under federal investigation all of which I give low grades. And the main reason is Obama’s lack of even the minimal level of experience required for the job of President is a non starter unacceptable for me.

But as a shadow effect I also judge the Party the DNC with an F minus for putting forth this quality of a candidate for President.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

McCain’s legacy through the Naval Academy, Flight School, Navy Career, Congress, and the Senate proves he did not ass kiss and pander his way to the top.

McCain speaks his mind, and is a true maverick. Sure, you can find instances where McCain followed his party. But, more than any other politician, you find McCain speaking out against his party.

As one who refuses to kiss ass, and has been punished for it, I am happy to fall in line now… right behind McCain.

    • Jann

He only served about 20 hrs of combat and never lead at high level during combat where he had to make the tough decisions. He did sing like a canary to his captors in exchange for medical treatment. He is to be admired for his duty to country and for survival as a POW but how does this qualify for President. Many of our finest Presidents did not serve in combat!

your boss can’t even provide his selective service registration that he supposedly would have needed to get his famous “student loans.”
I don’t think I’d be listing any ‘do’s and don’t’ for a POW survivor since your boss hangs with homegrown terrorists from the Vietnam era-and that’s a good point maybe the ‘recreate 68′ protest is set up by Obama to deflect from Clinton protests. After all his friends Ayers and Dohrn were the radicals who started that whole business in of all places, Chicago.

            • Jann

Obama was not even born when the Weathermen were around. Ayers never killed anybody. He did not go to jail. He was radical. So were many others – the times were very crazy. Obama met him years later when he became involved in Chicago politics. All the candidates have some questionable contacts. This is a ridiculus attack.

I am Undercover Black Man, and I approve this message.

        • Jann

I am not over using my war hero story to prove I am the better candidate. As long as McCain does this then his story needs to be analyzed as questioned on all accounts. McCain has fought to keep POW/MIA record classified over the objections of POW and MIA families. Why is this?

      • TeakwoodKite

But oh the ones that did…

So John Kerry throwing back his medals should make you just as indignant, I would think.

And please tell me what experience you have that would give any credence to what you say of John McCain?

Have you been tortured? Have you been in inside a room at the Hanoi Hilton?

I don’t get it when a human being lacks the basic presence of mind to understand that torture is torture, wither it done by the United States or at hands of anyone.

Jann, are you capable of comprehending, that regardless of how you view McCain as a politician, he served this country and paid a price for it? And what did he do? He continued to serve this country.

What have you paid forward lately?

  • Jann

There are some pretty vile commentators here. In fact you are sounding a lot like some venomous Republicans (Rush Limbaugh and Tammy Bruce). I am not happy with either party. They are both controlled by big business and until the people rise up and demand new leaders that will change the laws and restore our democracy it will be more of the same. I would have been fine with Clinton or Obama – Why? Because they are very much the same on most issues. He has somewhat less experience but I am sure you all realize that some of our best Presidents had very little expereince. The main issue this election is to get the Republican revolution stopped. Then we all need to work together to get corporate coruption out of our elections and government. It will never happen under the current Republican regime.

What proof is there that Obama is good for us? This is a man who refused to even cast a vote on Womens rights in Illinois.

Planned Parenthood came out and said the reason Obama voted present is because increasingly Candidates do not want the label of Pro-Choice because they vie wit as an area of attack against them.

If he is not willing to stand up and take the punches for his belief maybe he doesnt believe in it?

All Obama has shown us is that he has no position he wont change depending on the wind an dhow the crowd reacts.

      • Zee

PP covered his ass but his district was pro-choice, so the only reason he threw women’s choice under the bus was for a presidential run.

        • hillary2012

All of his present votes in Illinois seem designed for just that a quick jump to National Politics and a Presidential run.

This whole thing seems like a Manchurian Candidate that has been getting prepper for all this time just for this election.

      • Jann

So do you think McCain is for women’s rights?

        • andySF

What women’s right? The majority Dem senate should be able to block any nomination of pro-life justice. If not, then the Dem aren’t really that pro-choice now are they?
Also, as a woman, you have the right to say no, the right to say not unless you use a cover, the right to use BC, most importantly, the right to stand up to men, and say my way or no way. Or are you just happy to be the victim, and don’t want to control your own life. You actually think in the 21st century, that women will actually let other people make decision for them(govt, men, church or others)? If that’s the case, then they deserve everything they get.

Stop using that as a issue. This is not the dark age. Women are no longer victims. They can choose to be pro-life or pro-choice based on their own judgement. It’s no body’s business. Not even yours unless it’s your body.

I am pro-life, and am not even religious. But it’s my wife who will have the say, and she’s not too chicken to make that choice. So stop playing your women are victims card.

Not all AA’s support Obama…and those who support Hillary are being called “Uncle Toms” to this day.

Emil Jones was caught and is now trying to claim he meant “doubting Thomases.”

DENVER—An alleged slur delivered by a mentor of Barack Obama to a supporter of one-time Democratic rival Hillary Clinton has stirred up the volatile issues of race and gender for an already fracture-filled Illinois Democratic Party.

This morning, as the state’s delegation to the Democratic National Convention held their initial organizing breakfast, state Senate President Emil Jones said an African-American supporter of Hillary Clinton was mistaken when she claimed he called her an “Uncle Tom.” The derogatory term refers to a black who is overly eager to win white approval.

Jones, himself an African American, maintained Delmarie Cobb, a longtime Chicago public relations executive, misunderstood a comment in which he said it was time for those who continue to back the New York senator and former first lady to stop being “Doubting Thomases” and rally around Obama.

“She walked away and I said, ‘All you Doubting Thomases have to get on board,” Jones said of his discussion with Cobb over the weekend. “She turned around and said, ‘You called us?’ and I said, ‘No. That’s not so.’ I thought it was all over with. She just caught the last word of what I said. People make mistakes.”

I agree with this totally. The failure really is lack of leadership by DNC, Obama, and democratic leadership. It is not Clinton’s responsibility to unite the party — she’s done all she can from her spot. The Obama camp should never had said things like “get over it” at the end of the primary season. That was insensitive and rude and produced the exact reaction they got. Nor the MSM thinking that was clever, very smart.

Sen. Clinton would never have done that to Obama supporters. She would have actively sought their support, telling them how important they were to her, how important they are to the DNC, etc. She’d listen to them, etc.

Emotions are not “inconveniences.” People are not just their checkbooks. Read Alice Miller.

The MSM has done nothng but enflame, and flagellating Sen. Clinton only angers people like myself. She’s — like it or not — a maternal voice in this country. She’s a maternal figure. What she does and says matters.

When Doris Kearns Goodman on MTP said that Obama used maternal strategies, I about choked. He’s surrounded by male strategists, and words like “get over it” is male-ish. For women, emotions are allowed and treated with respect rather than regarded as weakening.

Again if Obama is the nominee and loses it’s because he can’t connect with basic voters.

  • Kelvin Hearts PUMAs

I have a serious question: Why must Obama humble himself just to placate you spoiled PUMAs? Why can’t Bowers and Murphy request a meeting with Obama’s people to air out their issues? Why can’t PUMAs accept the fact that Hillary lost? Why can’t PUMAs show respect to Obama’s accomplishments?

Similarly, I would have rejected ANY candidate who cheated and used outright fraud, theft, and thuggery to “win” their nomination. Anyone–including Hillary. It’s not about policies. That’s like saying that “Dubya is somewhat less intelligent than Stephen Hawking.”

but I am sure you all realize that some of our best Presidents had very little

Sure, Hill supporters will be blamed some when BO loses. But people will look at other reasons, too. Namely, Rev Wright and other associations, lack of experience, and his immature, juvenile delinquent gangsta rap-listening behavior. His racist, crazed America-hating wife and the undercurrent of suspicion about BO’s disdain for America…

Racism screams will be a sure thing… But the race card is finally losing it’s punch, people are getting past it. It has become a joke, with Clinton even having to defend against racist allegations. I think if BO won, it would just empower the BS race card even more.

He has no one to blame for losing but himself. And he chose to roll the dice with Biden instead of going with Hill.

Not that I wanted Hill to be his VP (it’s an insult to her), but people say she would have made his presidency a sure thing. So, BO is rolling the dice, and there is no one to blame but himself. Everyone will see that after the dust settles.

And I totally agree, it is way past time that the media stop referring to PUMAs as simply angry Clinton supporters and look at the other reasons (cited above) that BO isn’t our man.

I know what you mean, we need to stop affiliating ourselves so much with Hill. Because she needs to not be the target of BO supporters anger over BO’s loss when she runs again.

I would like BO to explain the JayZ song incident, personally. He can’t possibly expect people to vote for someone who behaves like an angry gangsta teenager.

To all the Hillary supporters who feel that you have been courted and won over.

If you had bothered to go to Obama’s website like other democrats and given your email address you would have been invited to many neighborhood meet-ups. I met many Hillary supporters when I went. Some were too upset to join up but many others did. If you are members of the DNC you would have received letters inviting you to join the campaign. There have also been numerous efforts to write personal notes to Hillary supporters by the Obama campaign volunteers. So my question is what did you expect?
I tried to contact the Clinton campaign and never received any feedback unlike Edwards and Obama. Obama has a true grassroots campaign going and this is good. It gets people involved and that is what is needed in this country. I am truly sorry you are all so angry and disenfranchised. But after what the Republicans have done with their power do they deserve to get another 4 years? Don’t you think there is a better chance of getting this country back on track by having a change of leadership? I believe that McCain will not be the maverick you wish for. When we get a Dem in the White House it will be a start. Then we need to change how the DNC does elections so a FL or MI never happens again. Then we need elect better leaders that will change laws to bring back our democracy.

When this all began we had such hopes. We have to move on. There is no perfect candidate. They are afterall sold to us by big business. If you cannot support Obama then vote for Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party. We cannot have a another neocon/anti woman’s rights President in the White House.

    • hillary2012

I do not need to be courted by a campaign equaling women hating abusers.

I don’t need to be told to move on. I did. On May 31st. I will not make a powerless “protest” vote for McKinney or stay home. I will not make a petulant write-in vote for Hillary. We’ll revisit that one in 2012. I will proudly cast my (now) Indpendent vote for John McCain. I won’t have to hold my nose. I won’t have any trepidation or feel bad or guilty or that I’m voting for Bush3 (that’s actually Obama).

And, I will be thrilled when we retire Barack Obama to the pages of history along with a message for his Chicago thugs not to try this ever again.

Until then, I’ve heard the message and when any Obama or supporter shows up on the screen, I’ll hit the mute because if I have to hear that vacuous, empty hopey changey blather again, I’ll barf.

  • Thinker

Sugar n spice covered this on her blog, and I’m spreading the word…

We have talked about how Obama tries to be everything to everyone, and now Obama is playing the Asian card:

    http://www.asianweek.com/2008/08/21/desi-obamas-new-race-cards/

At a time when unity among Asian Americans should be key, Obama differentiated South Asians and Pacific Islanders from the broader group and then told a South Asian crowd, “I am a desi.”

Desi, of course, refers to South Asian immigrants, who were plentiful at the big Fairmont Hotel gathering.

What will he say before a group of Chinese who remain on the fence right up to the convention? Or to Filipino, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese,et al?

That, despite my complete agreement of the sentiments expressed above, and my repulsion for the Obama campaign’s machinations. sigh.
But I will not forget, nor stop my vigilence, no matter what happens in November.

    • hillary2012

I understand the position your coming from for sure. I would just offer that we really do not know where Obama stands on Abortion. He speaks in favor of Pro-Choice but when it came to voting he always refused to vote in Illinois.

Biden is the only man who has a voting record that supports his claim to pro-choice but sadly his experiance and his work ethic is being second billing to Obama.

      • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Roe is not going to be overturned no matter who is pro choice or pro life. That’s that. Why do you let these thugs threaten you? Be bold and don’t shrink with fear. Don’t let maybe and might happen stop you for doing what is right…vote out the thugs. Don’t enable abusers.

        • Paramedic

One more supreme court justice and there can be some serious erosion of abortion rights. I don’t think there is any other way to see it. Clearly there will be one or two supreme court retirements in this term. Think Roberts and Alito, and add two more. No on is threatening anyone, but clearly this election can have a major impact on reproductive choice.

Bowers did not lie. He made a mistake and misunderstood public information. Hillary’s funds showed around $20 million at the end of June. Bowers thought it was money she raised and therefore, her debt was cleared. He got that wrong, it was money she raised for the general election from donors who maxed out for the primary. So legally she couldn’t use it to retire the primary debt. That’s what happened. I think she had to call donors and ask if that money could be transferred to funds for her Senate reelection. Bowers screwed up with what he said and should’ve checked facts better but he didn’t intentionally mislead or lie.

Mel, even a rented mule being kicked relentlessly is stubborn.

They are to be left in the dust bin of history. And in that they have value.
