    What a snooze fest! lol

    • standard

I wish PUMA’s at the convention would report back.

      • Seattle Moss

        How low can Obama go…

Having Jim Leach speak at the convention the Republican architect of the whitewater investigation is a final slap in the face of the Clinton base of the party.
We have been thrown out of the party.

        • nobamaever09

Clintons should boycot DNC. It is so clear that Obamas camp are trying to destroy Clintons. On one side they playing Friends, and then a nife to their backs.

    • http://! Clinton Fan

Here, this will wake you up: They’ve arrested two assholes with weapons. Apparently they were assassin-wannabees. Press conference tomorrow, details, here:

      http://www.denverpost.com/politicswestnews/ci_10300246

They ought to publicly horsewhip people who pull this shit, and televise the event for the voyeuristic amusement of everyone, before they lock idiots like this away for life–it might demotivate some of these disturbed freaks.

You beat people at the BALLOT BOX.

      • rw

There is matter and anti-matter. Didn’t a Taiwanese presidential candidate set-up an assassination attempt to get sympathy votes?

        • http://undercoverblackman.blogspot.com Undercover Black Man

          Uhhh… you’re a prince among men, rw.

          • Reality

And you are a low information voter who votes for pigment and not for policy.

            • beebop

duh … especially since obamasama is not in Denver … only an idiot or a staged production a la Mikado would be this absurd.

          • rw

I gather you have also been schooled in The Prince and the methods used to acquire power, at any cost. Forgive me if you have not.

        • http://! Clinton Fan

You know, that thought, sad to say, DID cross my mind. When I saw a picture of the “perp” I thought to myself “Is this putz from Central Casting, or what?”

He’s got that White Power/Nazi look going on–blond hair, but unfortunately, more than he and his hairdresser know that he’s shy a box of L’Oreal. He looks for all the world like a guy trying out for the role of Evil Nazi Number Two in some forgettable WW2 B Movie.

    • Hope Floats

Just watched the first 15 minutes of Michelle’s speech. The sweater was awful, but her hair looked great – Joe Biden looked on admiringly at the extensions.

Hannity must be snoozing. McA slipped in the comment that Bill Clinton was the only two term former president since FDR. Did he mean to say the only two term Democratic president since FDR?

  • Thinker

I’m hearing reports about delegates and celebrities dancing, just one big Democrat hip-hop concert.

I wonder what our soldiers think about seeing these images?

Usher is going to perform. What song is he going to sing? Make Love in this Club ft Young Jeezy, the “snowman” (cocaine)?

Is Kanye going to speak? Will he say something like:

“If it wasn’t for race mixing, there’d be no video girls.”

Then, as if his first comment wasn’t offensive enough, Kanye referred to biracial women as dogs. The rapper said, “Me and most of my friends like mutts a lot … Yeah, in the hood they call ‘em mutts.”

    hmmm, isn’t Backtrack biracial?

Also, Bactrack is a Jay-z fan. Will they play 99 problems when he walks on the stage??

    smh

  • Mr. X

    I agree. It’s batshit boring.

And I predict it’ll be an elitist fest of them congratulating each other. Exactly what everyone finds despicable behaviour. In some states, people go to jail for showing that much unrestrained affection for one’s self in public.

  • http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Summer08/BrazileRoveConnect.html FACTCHECK2

The rigging of this election continues to reach new heights. The press was reporting this afternoon that the roll-call vote will be cut off after the first few states. If you recall, the head of the Arkansas delegation (State number 4 in a roll-call) was murdered on Aug. 13th. This was the day after he allegedly agreed in a telephone call to back the petition of an independent group pushing for the standard procedure to be observe. Arkansas was Clinton’s biggest win in the primaries, with a 70 percent haul (26 percent for Obama). Nearly all the superdelegates also backed Clinton.

That brings into question whether or not this murder was really a coincidence. If the bulk of Arkansas’ 47 delegates go to Clinton after Alaska, Alabama, and Arizona, it might look odd cutting off the roll-call at that point. Here’s a link to an article I’ve posted on the murder investigation.

    • standard

So many deaths among delegates supporting Clinton.

      • stepkejr.

The death of Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a game-changer. If I were a Hillary super-delegate, I would be looking over my shoulder, not driving a car, & having someone else taste my food for me…

    • Raven

I’ve always felt that there was more to that untimely death…erie. I hope that it doesn’t get
      swept under the carpet.

    • makeji

The roll call is supposed to stop at New York, which is what I heard. That Hillary herself will stop it at that point.

I can’t see how this is supposed to unify anyone. Just let the thing play out.

    • Bigtime

When you think “Power at any cost”, it makes everything suspect. If you talk to low information peeps , we sound like tin foil hat people. Is that the George Bush plan, just amplified. It really is hard to fight the media narrative about “Clinton supporters” when it is really about Barry Soetoro/The One being unqualified, unfit, unwanted by the majority of his own party.

      18 million strong!
      Nobama!!

Blech. Jesse Jackson Jr. is a twerp.

Obama won his state seat by kicking others off the rolls.

Why does he have to accept his crown of thorns at Invesco?

Joe Biden hearts credit card companies.

    So there.

    Kitty has spoken.

  • Dr. Kate

McCain strategy memo predicts 15 point bounce for obama after the convention. what do you think?

    • zozosmom

I predict Obama gets a 3-5 point bounce on Wed after Bill and Hillary have spoken. He drops to a 3-5 point deficit after his own speech.

      • AnnieO

I agree with you. I think the big stadium speech will have the same effect that the Germany speech did. His ego will be the highlighted.

      • PewL

I think he loses 7 points after his speech..ANd Mccain wins

      • Hope Floats

The Republicans have been so patient about holding their fire until after Labor Day, and they are being generous with their estimation. 10 pts. as we all feel pride in our photogenic African American candidate and his family, then we’ll go back to nitpicking over his record and cringing while watching the debates.

    • Peggy Sue

I think McCain is overstating the bounce, so that Republicans can point and say, Well, The One didn’t meet expectations.

We’ll have to wait and see. My money’s on McCain’s basic assumption: over-inflated egos expect inflated results. I may be wrong but Bill Clinton had an astounding 16-17 pt bounce, something of a record.

We’ll see how it goes. Let the games begin!

      • beebop

I’m with you. I think that McCain was setting a high bar so that when it doesn’t come, the press looks even worse.

    • Rocky Mountain High

He’ll be lucky if he gets 5 pts. The very day after the convention, McCain will be announcing his VP choice, which will dominate the media, then Sept. 1 will be the GOP convention. I don’t think there will be enough time for BO’s big bounce. Plus, it’s a huge illusion and delusion to think this convention will heal the wounds of all HRC supporters, and using the abortion to persuade women to vote for Obama is not only manipulative but uninformed. McCain is not going to overturn Roe v. Wade, and even if he did succeed — the abortion laws will go to individual states. McCain has said over and over again, that he is a Federalist, meaning giving more power to individual states, so women need to be informed about this and not be hood winked into voting for Obama, who will bankrupt this economy with higher taxes, coupled with higher gas prices and food prices, many will not be able to handle it. Obama will not win this election, no matter what bounce he gets. Wait for the GOP October surprise.

    • Dan R.

Classic case of trying to set expectations unrealistically high so that they can then claim that Obama fell far short of them.

I personally think Obama will get about a 4-5 point bounce in the polls, just like he did when he went to Iraq and Europe. Then McCain will gain that 4-5 points right back after the Republican convention.

This race will enter the last two months tied, just like it is now. But as the GOP 527 attack ads really start in earnest, McCain will start to inch ahead in the polls. When the “Bradley effect” is factored in, I think that in the end McCain will win by 3-4 points nationally.

  • Anon 1

THat Jesse Jackson Jr. Sppech did not smile once. The DMes need some inspirational speakers. He was beating me over the head with his words. Almost like he wanted us tovote for Obama or else. lol

But he has the ability to be a great speak if he stops preaching. SOmeone should post the video of Him talking about Hillary Tears

    • Ms J of FL

disgustingly angry speech. coercive, manipulating bullying air of entitlement. his mama needs to tell him that a real man doesn’t DEMAND a grown up woman’s vote or her loyalty. this is not Afghanistan.

  • Katherine

Dear Dr Kate. I think that is a looong shot.

    • Dr. Kate

      my thoughts too.

  • zozosmom

Gergen just said, “Two hours in and nothing of substance.” Haaaaaaa! Haaaaaaa!

I think it’s going to be like this all week. What can they say? Obama hasn’t done enything.

    • typical.white.person

Gergen: Time to pick up the pace

The biggest surprise so far is how slowly this convention is getting off the ground. It is clearly pumping up people in the convention hall, but for a much larger national audience — the audience that is so important in November — there has been very little offered so far to rivet people’s attention.

Why did Jimmy Carter have no speaking role? Why indeed did Nancy Pelosi not have a far bigger speaking role? She is, after all, the first woman in history to be Speaker of the House.

To be sure, big events are coming tonight — but I am surprised that there has been so little of substance that has been compelling for television.

Let’s wait and see how it goes.

      • http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/080820_NBC-WSJ_Released.pdf trixta

There is little substance here because Obama has no substance!

      • http://! Clinton Fan

Why did they disrespect the FIRST African American CHAIRMAN of the House Ways and Means Committee…one of the most POWERFUL posts on the Hill?

Charlie Rangel is a First Amongst Equals Congressman, a senior statesman, a Korean War veteran–and HERO, and that fucking punk disrespected him.

THAT’s when I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Obama was petty, vindictive and childish. You don’t tell a seventy eight year old legislative icon to Go Fuck Himself.

But then, he had no problem doing that to Jimmy Carter, either.

        • Ms J of FL

ya think it’s cause he supported Clinton & suggested reinstating the draft. the Dem party is all about love & peace now. most of the Obots don’t know about the Korean War or the real identity of their Manchurian Candidate. they don’t respect “short timers” either.

        • Peggy Sue

You know I wondered about that–Charlie Rangel snubbed for all practical purposes. Yes, he was an HRC supporter but he was also out there advising her to suspend early on. I know the Obama folks kicked Wesley Clarke to the curb [I'm assuming for his unproductive attack on McCain's POW experience]. I thought that was a stupid move–why not court the military credits– but why Rangel, a respected AA with all his clout in the party?

Spite? Payback of some sort. I simply do not understand the Dems anymore!

        • sarobinson4320

How about Rangel is being investigated in NY for influence peddling and the unfortunate fact that he has multiple rent controlled apartments. How about not giving the Repubs more ammunition than they already have. Why does everything have to be about the Clintons?

  • JS Ruby

As for me I will listen to HRC’s speech and WJC’s speech. As for the rest I will turn off the TV.

Pretty bad,how everyone praises the Kennedy’s but Clinton won that state by a large %…I think people loved JFK,and Obama doesn’t even come close…..Obama is the Biggest loser,Clinton’s will always be the Best for the Democrats, and they threw them under the Bus…..

my problem with that ass kennedy is that he is going to head the commission that will be in charge of the every person getting affordable health care. I was really pissed, that should have been Hillary-I guess thats another slap in the face.

          • Dr. Kate

sorry to say this, but Kennedy won’t live that long. his brain tumor is one of the worst with life expectancy about 6-12 months.

            • dee4hill

My 50 year old brother had the same kind of brain cancer as Kennedy and he lived 93 days from diagnosis.

          • Hope Floats

Ted Kennedy worked hard on SCHIP, too. But he won’t live long.

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

just received a DAY 2 of the convention from our PUMA from NC
here’s her report (fyi to those interested)

    Hello Hill Fans,

Yesterday was an amazing day with interviews with the press all day. The international press was all over Nancy, from San Diego, and myself, as we strolled down the 16th St. mall with our Hillary signs. I will now be world famous, or infamous, and everyone will know that Kathy Skerl will vote for John McCain if Obama gets the n omination. I handed our some of our videos, including Reuters, LA Times, and…gosh a few more I can’t remember.

Last night I went to see the premier showing of the Audacity of Democracy. I met Will Bowers, Diane M from the Just Say No Deal Coalition, Darraugh, etc. The film was about 40 minutes; it is not done yet…focused on the Texas Primaries. And they had good food.

After the film I once again urged everyone to get out on the 16th St. mall with their Hillary gear and march on down to the MSNBC/NBC location for a protest. Guess what!! we did it today! Did anyone watch Chris Matthews? That was us shouting in the background…PUMA! Sexist! Hillary! We stayed quite a while and the Obama supporters got testy. It was a really great march and demonstration….we heard Matthews dissed us and Jack Cafferty called us Hillerybillies. At least they know that Hillary fans are hear.

There are many rumors about what is going on with the delegate count. Even the delegates don’t know. It is impossible to know what the truth is…al ot is disinformation to create chaos and it is working.

I have to go off to the Pumapac rally tonight; tomorrow is the march and risehillaryrise rally and lunch with Hillary. Then a meeting with the Denver Group in the evening. There is a lot of interest in Hillary and many s upporters here who really still want her to get the nod. I have talked to many Hillary delegates and they are planning on voting for her even if she releases them and asks them not too…they are with us and when they see her supporters out they are so happy. While marching down 16th st today with the protest, two Hillary delegates standing on the s idewalk, shook my hand and said thank you.

    Go Hillary!
    Kathy

    • rw

      nice.

    • CountryFirst

If you get over to Jack Cafferty’s way again, I hope you ask him about winning the recent JackAss Award from Charlotte Front and Center! Someone should make a big sign congratulating him on having this honor bestowed on him and march around in front of him.
      Have fun!

      • Annie Oakley

Congrats, Jack Asserty on haulin in the big ole JackAss Award. You deserve it. Hillarybillies? What, are we poor, white, Southern trailer trash because we support the better candidate? Imagine a fine guy like that gets a daily spot on a national “news” show. What’s he got against poor white people? Do Obama’s supporters support reverse bigotry, or should I even ask?

    • Karma

      Thanks for forwarding this.

      Very cool.

    • vinnie

Kathy, perhaps you can shout down Keith Doberman too. That guy is on my last good friggin’ nerve.

      • Dan R.

There is no human being on the face of this earth that I would enjoy punching in the nose more than Keith Olberman. I thought he was a smart-assed little twerp when he first broke in with ESPN 20 years ago, and time has only made him more irritating. He’s the quintessential embodiment of an “asshole”.

  • S&T

I can hardly stand to listen to the total bull shit being slung at the Democratic Convention. I never felt less a part of something than I am of this Obama farce. If there is just one hint of his muslim roots I can not and will not vote for Obama. I had to turn my TV to something else because I can not stand the total hipocracy of this Democratic Convention and Michele Obama as first lady is just to much. I can even watch this arrogant woman take the stage. If ever an election was arranged it was this one. All I have to say is what is done in the dark will come to the light someday

beebop, me too, watching The Closer. Can’t stomach this convention, because it refocuses me on how this whole scam was played out and then I get angry again…. At least in The Closer they catch the perps with some accountability.

Note the word “May”. It will be interesting to learn how they build the case for an assasination attempt. I would be a little skeptical that these two guys were there to try to kill BO. Since they had Meth, these are the weapons of choice to Meth runners. Just my opinion, but I’m sure the media will make them out to be assasins instead fo drug dealers/runners.

What is wrong with No Quarter-
    Talk or Action*
Attorney Philip J. Berg is taking action, but
where in hell is No Quarter in helping to break this story…of his lawsuit against Obama!
-Sometimes it takes a Philadelphia Lawyer-
Sure No Quarter had some great breaking stories about
the issue of Obama’s citizenship, but then when real action is being taken, action that could well disqualify Obama, through the recourse of legal action
in accordance with the Constitution, No Quarter is absent!
Berg’s courage in taking real action has opened perhaps the most important flank in this battle with which the thousands of bloggers should flood the internet and force the mainstream media to reach into what is the true finale—DEAN SCREAM II and the sudden collapse of BOO BOO..

Get Going No Quarter or be deemed a CIA front operation which so goes along in promoting Brzezinski’s war against Russia as has been so disgustingly portrayed on this site.

Wake up Listen to BERG tonite on RENSE…Everyone Blog this story

    Berg’s Website http://obamacrimes.com

    GET GOING!!!

    • Dr. Kate

the papers have been served on the DNC, Obama and the FEC, and the “50 does”. DOJ attorney in PA said FEC is reviewing the suit.

It is important to let this suit take its course with little interference…the suit has not been dismissed and obama will ahve to respond. he may or may not sign the TRO, but for sure barky is going to be disqualified.

In the meantime I’ve spread it far and wide.

      • athy

        Me too.
I have been crossposting links on the Berg lawsuit & will continue to do so…

    • Prem

Just listened to Philip Berg on Jeff Rense’s show—he’s very compelling. I heard him on another interview on last Friday night. He’s trying to save the Democratic Party, according to his motive for filing this lawsuit and restraining order against the DNC. He says the Republicans have had research teams in Kenya, probably verifying the fact that Obama was born there and they are waiting until October to release this information and hoping that pandemonium will break out for the Dems.

Berg says that Obama has perpetrated a fraud against all Americans and the world as he is not eligible to be POTUS. Also, Berg knows that BHO traveled to Pakistan when he was 20 years old on an Indonesian passport. Obama needed to take an oath of allegiance to the U.S. before he was 21 to regain his citizenship, but there is no proof that he did.

He said after this there might be a huge class action suit against Obama for defrauding the American people, and try to reclaim some of the money donated to him.

He sounds so very credible. He said he would not have filed this lawsuit (and it was not thrown out by the judge of the court is was filed in) if he did not have credible evidence to back it up. He said he has everything to lose (his good standing as a lawyer, etc.).

One paper in Montgomery Cty. in PA has run the story front-page, and he said more papers were going to be running this lawsuit article in more papers tomorrow.

Jeff Rense gave a great interview and Philip Berg was very convincing. He said that if BHO can prove his citizenship and that he took an oath of allegiance to the U.S., he’ll withdraw the lawsuit.

      • Hope Floats

I never heard the oath before you turn 21 thingy, but it seems that Obama’s trip to Pakistan while he was 20 on an Indonesian passport might have been a a watershed moment before he ended his carefree Muslim childhood. Just giving him the benefit of the doubt.

That’s because it’s a “Teddie’s (almost) Dead” effort. Obama wants Ted’s stank to rub off on him–see, Obama has no accomplishments, and he thinks he can lift Ted’s before the guy has even breathed his last.

This is also why Carter is persona non grata–Carter, understandably, isn’t in love with Teddie, and there are many people who remember why and find his feeling VERY understandable. See, Ted tried to “steal” the job from the incumbent President. Of course, he created so much chaos that the disarray, on top of world events, helped Carter lose to Reagan.

This convention doesn’t have a ounce of authenticity to it! It will be exhausting keeping up this aire of anticipation for three days.

I cannot watch most of the convention but I watched the tribute to Senator Kennedy. It was pretty good except for the part in the middle that was a tribute to Obama. It was disgusting. He can’t even let a great public servant like Kennedy have his own tribute.

Senator Kennedy is speaking now. It breaks my heart that I cannot watch what will be his last public speech. I cannot watch a man who has done so much for the people of this country praise a man who has done nothing.

I have always had the greatest respect and affection for the Kennedys. They have done so much for this country. Senator Kennedy has been selfless and dedicated.

I do not understand how he can support and praise a person who is the total opposite of everything he and his family have always stood for.

It just breaks my heart for Senator Kennedy.

And Ted Kennedy needs to remind people what happened in the 60′s–he avoided a manslaughter charge because of his name–he killed a girl and got away with it. Caroline’s a ditz, she always has been, she writes books about other rich snobby women and what they’ve done for poor, ignorant women. She likes BO because he’s as phony as she is and as out of touch. The only good thing about this convention will be Hillary’s and Bill’s speeches. And another thing we will never vote for BO, if not Clinton, McCain 08.

    • beebop

Thank God most Americans will be asleep before Michelle takes the stage. It’s tough enough to get a good night’s sleep. Do you want an image of her to send you off to sleep?

They got the guy who hired him for the community organizer job up there lying for him. Did they forget about the N.Y. Times article from a few weeks back in which they pointed out that he didn’t get a damned thing done of any significance while he was in that “job”?????

  • NoBO

I’m not watching the stoopit cornvention. Rather watch old movies on TCM or writing to my mom why I’ll be voting for McCain over Obama. If anyone wants to see what I wrote:

    http://logisticsmonster.wordpress.com/2008/08/25/puma-politics-a-pumas-letter-to-his-mom/

I’ll be scanning to the PUMA boards for any juicy tidbits about the convention. I’m not even sure if I want to watch Hillary’s speech tomorrow night if she’s just going to be asking us to support Obama. No, I won’t.

Elitist in Barack Obama case has to do with his ivy league education and not so much his wealth. He thinks he is entitle to win because McCain did not go to HArvard and was in the bottom of his class.

Obama would rather hang out with the college professors than everyday AMericans. That’s why he looks so aloof and arrogant when he is ont eh campaign trail.

      There is a “serious” problem.

Michelle walks on. Shot of the crowd. The sea of “Michelle” signs tends to obscure the many bored faces.

Ok, she’s reading the teleprompter so very obviously. Starts with a couple of ‘groaner’ jokes. She’s praising her big brother. Faith and hunger for “change”. “Improbable”. Why is she talking about HER father? HER brother? HERself? The american dream endures. How insincere.

About 1.5 minutes in, she plays the “funny name” card. She shares with Barack the value of treating people with dignity and respect. Yeah, like Jeremiah Wright and David Axelrod treated Hillary? Now she’s bragging about Barack’s community organizing — Saul Alinksy marxism lives.

This is a boring, awkward, and insincere speech. I’ll leave it there.

As evidenced by the current state of affairs where we have more latch key kids than not. She’s a middle class kid who went to Ivy league colleges, big deal. But nice jab about my mom, way to go!

Oh, my God. Thank you, guys and gals for being here. You are making me laugh so hard tonight. You’ve turned a totally depressing night, trying to click from channel to channel to stay away from that disgusting lovefest convention into comedy central.

Thanks for watching so I don’t have to. Some of you need to do stand-up!

  • Total disgust

Im here in Texas and Michelle just started talking. I tell you I cant even watch this shit. It makes me ill. I just dont get it. I guess I never will. The only thing I can think of is, this election is already in the bag. No matter how we vote. BHO for some unknown reason has this entire process sewn up. We know it isnt on his accomplishments or his integrity or even experience, so what is it?I am done.
I will vote in Nov. for McCain for whatever good that will do and call it a day.
Before I go though I would like to tell every single American woman out there black, white, asain and all races. You should be outraged that this is going down in history like this. It is a dirty shame. An outrage that this country will not soon forget.I pray that the percent of Hillary supporters that are for McCain is much larger than the bought and paid for media would lead many to believe.

Axeyouoff and Oloser are soon to be a very bad memory for me. I will continue to pray for my country and its leaders. God Bless America.

    My favorite line:

Barack restore hope to the Chicago neighborhoods. Excuse me. Michelle why don’t you take a ride through the South side of Chicago – your husbands district? Then, report back tomorrow on hope.

I hate this bullshit, I hate the lies – insult to our intelligence.

Again, the floor is flat!!!!!!!!! There is a doom and gloom feeling there. Wonder why?

I have never seen a convention like it. I am 59 years old. Strange.

Pretty bad. What a horribly weak way to begin the week. If this is how they intended to make BHO stand out from John McCain, I give this attempt four thumbs down.

  • Chicago Joe

Well, Juan Williams was moved to tears. Even Brit Hume and Chris Wallace said she delivered a beautiful speech (Huh??). But Wallace just said that this was mostly a wasted night at the convention in that nothing really came through about how BHO would help the country.

This Michelle speech was dull, dull, dull. They wanted her to tone down her personality, and she sure did….down to no personality.

She is not like me. I did not got to Harvard, Princeton, and I don’t make 300K either. So try as she may, we still are not connecting.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Most of the commentary, even from CNN, is that the nigh was a WASTE. lmao hahahahahahaha! Says that Hillary and Bill always believed that American people want to hear what Bill was going to do for the country, not all of that fluff about his life and background.

  • gotalife

Freaking emototional libs. No message, no issues, no gop attacks.

At least Ted showed up and talked about health care.

    Lame.

  • SJ

What the hell was that?? Is that the speech that was going to mend the rift in this party and make everyone get on the Obama train?

Do we get some kind of special award for loving our kids, or having a husband that does things around the house? I really dont see what is so remarkable in this speech seems to me there are many families that can tell the same story in America.

Total waste of time, or was this just so Michelle can say she loves this country, this is the most boring event in history, the DNC may have spent a lot of money but so far everything is flat if you really want to be honest, its dull.

The bounce from this is going to be zero, the media may want to spin it all they want, some may say Michelle was remarkable but lord I cant find what was the purpose of putting her on because it sure as hell did not make me feel any differently about the Obama campaign.

    What a travesty.

The Credentials Committee gave full voting status to all delegates from Michigan and Florida today, subject to approval by the whole convention tomorrow.

The convention credentials committee voted unanimously to restore the voting privileges at the behest of Barack Obama, the party’s presumptive nominee for president. The states were initially stripped of delegates for holding primaries before Feb. 5. The party’s rules committee restored the delegates in May, but gave them only half votes.

Restoring their voting rights increases the total number of delegate votes at the convention to 4,419. It will take 2,210 delegates to win the nomination.

OK, let me get this straight.
After the DNC gets their candidate selected – BHO.
They change the rules, re-do the bar and then after they basically tell 18 million voters to go to hell, they re-instate the delegates. What about the ones they took from Hillary and gave to Obama!

This is maddening. The DNC needs to go. Period.
    PUMA, keep it up.

  • Ms. Misdemeanor

    I watched Michelle Obama’s speech.

Michelle just mentioned that Senator Obama has worked hard for equal pay for equal work for women. Didn’t I read an article in the past few weeks that indicated Obama has less women in the upper management of his campaign than McCain and he’s paying them less than the men in his campaign and less than McCain is paying the women he’s hired?

Oh goodness, she has people wiping tears away talking about when their eldest daughter was born.

She’s doing a good job of making the Obamas look human, hard working and compassionate. But she’s also repeating the lies and myths, including that Senator Obama was raised by a single mother and he stands for equal pay for women.

I haven’t paid much attention to Michelle, I have no idea if I dislike her or not. I don’t care what she wrote in her Princeton thesis, what one thinks and believes at age 21, isn’t usually what one thinks ten years later. That she held her own at Harvard Law in the mid-80′s and in Chicago corporate law firm in the late 80′s, is admirable. I wouldn’t expect her to be a woman afraid to speak her mind or go after what she wants. She’s not from the school of Lady Bird Johnsons and Barbara Bushes. I guess I’m withholding judgment on her character and giving her the benefit of the doubt that her missteps so far in the campaign have been more from inexperience than anything else. But I do think she’s a strong, determined woman and her opinions and beliefs have a strong impact on Barack Obama.

She did a pretty good job with the speech, unfortunately a lot of it was countering mistakes the campaign made in the past and the perceptions we’ve taken from her past remarks. And of course, she reiterated how wonderful Senator Obama is, a gift from God to us. For those sitting on the fence or have decided against voting for Obama, I think she reinforced why we have doubts about him.

Considering she’s articulate, can give a speech and draw emotion from the audience, I think she would have done a better job of persuading fence sitters by sticking to Senator Obama’s platform instead of telling us all the wonderful things he’s done. Those wonderful things can easily be disputed.

    • rw

“hat she held her own at Harvard Law in the mid-80’s and in Chicago corporate law firm in the late 80’s, is admirable. I wouldn’t expect her to be a woman afraid to speak her mind or go after what she wants. She’s not from the school of Lady Bird Johnsons and Barbara Bushes. her missteps so far in the campaign have been more from inexperience than anything else.”

There is a disconnect with the first part and the last phrase. She is not 21, but in her 40′s; Princeton, Harvard; Chicago corporate law firm—yet missteps due to inexperience?

      • Monet

I don’t think an Ivy League education, Harvard Law, a Chicago corporate firm, her career at the University of Chicago, etc. prepares anyone for the intense media coverage a presidential candidate’s spouse is under. No matter how much they’re coached, it’s training under fire and their inexperience with being in a fish bowl is going to result in some missteps.

I can’t think of one candidate’s wife during my lifetime that didn’t have a few mistakes, especially during the campaign or the first months in the White House. I’m not old enough to remember any off the top of my head when it comes to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lady Bird Johnson. But I can think of at least one with every first lady since then except Pat Nixon. What I remember about Pat Nixon is she hid from the public and media as much as possible. Betty Ford had her famous comment about her view if her daughter chose to live with her boyfriend without marrying him, Nancy Reagan had the scandal over the designer clothes, Hillary Clinton fired the travel office and said she wasn’t the little woman at home baking cookies and standing by her man. They’re under a media and public scrutiny that I’d never want to have to withstand and I tend to give them some leeway before I draw any conclusions on their character, views and personality.

I decided Senator Obama wasn’t a candidate I was going to vote for, so I haven’t shown much interest in Michelle Obama. If Obama is nominated, I’ll spend sometime getting to know her and form an opinion. For now, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I was impressed with the poise and warmth she displayed in her speech. I wasn’t impressed with going over the missteps so far made in the campaign and trying to mitigate or correct them and reiterating the standard Obama lies. Examples were her comment about HIllary and making 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling – it did nothing to show party unity or that she respects Hillary Clinton, stating she loves America, Barack was raised by a single mother, etc… I would have been more impressed by the speech if she left all of that out and instead told us exactly what her husband’s presidency would do for us, why we should vote for him – how he’s going to lower the deficit, resolve the energy crisis, make sure every American has affordable health care, etc… I already know she considers him a wonderful husband and father, she wouldn’t have married him if she felt differently and they have experienced all the stuff that makes them the normal, average American family. That stuff just left me wondering why she’s trying so hard to make me believe he’s the average man with a good, loving heart.

        • rw

“I don’t think an Ivy League education, Harvard Law, a Chicago corporate firm, her career at the University of Chicago, etc. prepares anyone for the intense media coverage a presidential candidate’s spouse is under.”

But it gives the sophistication to speak without offense. It, by its very natured, coaches you in civility, discretion, a semblance of diplomacy. It does, but in her case it has not. Besides, it’s not if this would be her first time under the spot light of being the candidates wife.

Never mind the gratuitous remark of being proud “for the first time”. What about her evidently mean-spirited remark when asked if Hillary defeated her husband, and Hillary were the nominee,: a blank stare, after miffed surprise by the interviewer, she actually said: I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT. Contrast mind you, with the intense pressure Hillary and her supporters are being exposed to vote for nobody husband.

My conclusion is this woman is so mean-spirited that she has acquired none of the refinement and sophistication that her background should have given her. Otherwise, I have to think that she is just ‘stupid’, an affirmative action product.

The gaffes that you cite as a comparison are of a personal nature. Nothing to do with the natural givens of politics: love your country, support your party, respect your party base.

  • typical.white.person

After espousing so much hatred against the USA, Michelle Obama now wants the rest of us us to think she and Barack are just like you.

    Do you hate America?

MO should take up an acting career. She did a great job of pretending that she is humble and patriotic. The problem is she was a little over the top for me. I just kept waiting for her to start preaching to the convention. I think she was having a hard time contolling her emotions.

Did anyone notice that she was not at all pleased with the amount of noise the convention made at the mention of Hillary’s name?

  • SJ

That was a rehearsal she gets to do it over again tomorrow. That has to be it because if this was the long awaited speech that was going to move all this disgruntled voters it sure as hell bombed big time.

Michelle is full of crap. I wanted to vomit. It was so phony and packed full of cliches. This is not the time to talk about your dead father. I don’t really care about him. I care about who is ready to run this country and your husband isn’t it.

  • Alice Paul

Could anyone tell me, is it normal for the wife of the presumptive nominee to give the opening speech?

It was a family affair, her brother, her mother hell the only two that were missing was the white grandma from Kansas and the African one.

Oh my goodness, that was embarassing. Michelle is so stiff and unemotional. It’s not natural, it’s forced. And could they have packed anymore cliches and slogans into that speech?

And playing “Isn’t She Lovely?” Oh my, my mouth fell open. It was like a Miss America contest. Bad choice of music. It didn’t work. It’s like when she went on the View and said “It’s fun to be pretty”. Too shallow, too sappy.

The most interesting thing in this convention was the two little girls. They obvioulsy worship daddy, but he barely notices them. It was great when Sasha said Daddy where are you and he said St Louise. He had to go back later when she asked him and change it to Kansas City.
They were so cute! I feel sorry for them not being with their dad. I dont think they quite understand what is going on , only that daddy is cool.

If its the kids you mean, I think MO was telling them to ask some of it, but it reminded me of my daughter alot. Kids are generally innocent. Malia was just trying to get a better view of her dad by stepping in front of the screen. Looks like she misses him.

Sasha is so young I could see her asking on her own. I have a five year old and she would do the same thing. I did feel that michelle told her to ask the second time to correct the mistake. Anyhow I still think they are precious. They were the one part of the whole thing that made me smile.

Not a very memorable speech. I could not help but cringe when she talked about respect, especially in the section where she was talking about Hillary. When you consider all the sexism in the campaign for her to say her husband would respect and defend against gender bias was so completely hollow, I could not get past that, and she totally lost me. How she says she loves this country and how she is where she is because of this country but she enjoyed Black Theology for 20 years.

And Pelosi sure as hell shouldn’t have said, Welcome to the Democratic National Convention where we’ll be nominating Barack Obama, or whatever the hell it was she said. I mean, maybe so, but what an idiot to say it like that. There is a certain protocol. There is the formality of a nomination and a vote count. The woman has no tact. She wasn’t helping her cause one bit.

  • Ohio Bill

This is funny, the same thing that led to Clinton’s defeat, the inability to recognize the ability of your opponent. I read these messages and remember back to when Obama was winning 9 straight states and you all were saying the same things.

Agree or disagree with Mrs. Obama to pretend she did not speak well is the same head in the sand attitude that lost the primaries for Hillary, you all never learn. I don’t even mean agree with the content, disagreeing with that is logical and even expected but to say she does not speak well is pure illogical denial.

But please continue, it’s entertaining to watch!

    • http://safari AnnieCarmel

We do see through her. We compare the words we hear when she thinks she has a small audience (and quite a bit more herself and forthright) with what she says for effect, persuasion and manipulation to the large audience. She didn’t convince anyone that she’s not just exactly who she told us she is early on. Leave the re-inventions of image to the real rock stars.

      • Ohio Bill

You miss the point, the commentary was about her speech on national TV tonight and those who say she did not execute that assignment well are as I say, in denial.

        • elise

Ohio Bill, I haven’t watched any of the convention today. I did watch some repeats on ID channel this evening. I have nothing to say about MO’s speech. I’m not interested in anything she has to say. The last time I heard her voice was on the interview replayed on a different thread tonight when she said she would have to think about supporting Hillary if she were the nominee. That tells me all I need to know about her. I am grateful to those who are posting here for their impressions. They are witty and fun to read. I guess you probably don’t understand this simple fact; When someone insults you or the candidate you support in that way, it pretty much changes the way you hear anything else that person has to say. In the many years I have been a Dem, I can never recall a candidate or spouse making that statement. If fact, I can’t remember a Republican ever being that politically stupid and childish. Obama made a claim a few months ago that Hillary’s supporters would vote for him, but he wasn’t sure his supporters would vote for her. The two statements have the same meaning and there is an implied threat which has been common in his campaign. There will be no unity in this party and the responsibility rests squarly on the Obamas and his campaign. I’ll watch Hillary and Bill knowing they will actually try to unite the party in spite of the way they have been treated and I will be wishing they could just speak from the heart instead of the scripts they have been given because I know, even with those limitations, they will be worth listening to and inspiring with real hope for the country they both love. All the rest is crap.

        • http://safari AnnieCarmel

No moron. I did not miss the point. More condescending trolls.

Her assignment was to soften her image from the angry, militant (the real) michelle to one that is more palatable to the public at large. It’s PR 101. What she said was of little consequence. It was all done hoping for the desired effect. The scripted moment with the 2 kids and daddy on the video was just part of the phony show. She didn’t get points from the media for the content of her speech. Same old, same old. And for those of us who have been looking, listening to this woman we don’t see any change that you can believe in. She was told to do what works but she was not convincing. I’m sure this experience will eventually be transforming but in her case it’ll only make her more of the same angry, greedy woman we’ve come to see.

Rebirth comes from looking inside yourself and coming to grips with the truth…that doesn’t lead to more lies and pretense.

I couldn’t stand to watch MO’s speech, and wanted to thank you all extremely intelligent witty commentators to keep us posted on it. You’re great and really appreciate you being here.

I just got a call from the DNC (I guess they were expecting us all to donate after all the “inspiring”–LOL–speeches at the convention), asking for a donation (I have donated to them in the past). But I gave him an earful—told him I left the Dem. Party am now a “decline to state” independent in CA. I told him I could not support the fraud perpetrated on us voters, the caucuses, disenfranchising MI & FL. Told him that I could not support BHO with all of his lies and flip-flopping. I mentioned the FISA flip-flop, his signing Cheney’s energy bill, etc. He got an earful and said he could not possibly begin to refute all that I had brought up and that he understood.

Beware the post-convention speeches DNC contribution calls.

Well, I couldn’t watch the wife of the one. Have heard the synopsis. MEchelle is like the neighbor who comes over and tells you how honest they are while they’re stealing your lawnmower. People who proclaim their own virtues are usually just the opposite. All that…I love my country but the world as we know it just won’t do. Of course, that means America too but she loves it, ya know. Just like BO said early on…America is the greatest nation on earth, won’t you help me change it…Insofar as what America has delivered for them, I’ve always wondered: “What’s not to like?” Princeton, Yale, Harvard, $300k+/yr. Yet they actually are haters.

An honest (thoughtful or enlightened or whatever) person would not make these declarations for themselves…you’d hear it from their neighbors and associates. Of course, having William Ayers say you are a patriot wouldn’t be too believable.
Guess this gagging BS/faux love-in will go on without me. I don’t even think I can watch Hillary or Bill. Poor little Caroline Kennedy…Barack has changed her life? I thought she had a big life. Guess not. And Nancy? Pumped up with facial fillers I do believer.

Glad you are watching so I don’t have to.

What on earth is wrong with you people. Michelle gave a great speech. She is clearly articulate and highly intelligent. Is that your problem. She’s smart? Get over it, Hilary lost the primary. Obama may or may not win the election, but Hilary and Bill for sure won’t be back in the WH. Not in 2008, 2012 or ever. This Hilary worship is really disturbing. You people should really get lives. If our country survived Regan, Bush and Bush, it will survive Obama. Unlike them he’s smart. Stop hating on the brother, or is that the point he’s a brother?

      • ming the merciless

Weird, though… A lot of Obama supporters have a long history as Clinton supporters, and would still vote for Clinton if the occasion arose. They’ve got this odd obsession with policies, and share the peculiar notion that McCain policies bear a striking resemblence to Bush policies. They go so far as to suggest that McCain and Bush policies are virtually identical, and that democratic policies are better. It’s a very strange sort of brainwashing that they’ve apparently suffered from for a very long time. It only became apparent that they were somehow afflicted when Obama entered the picture. Before that, they seemed like perfectly logical democrats.

        • trails

That’s easy to say when your candidate is about to be nominated. I suspect had the DNC rules committee tossed the ball to Hillary rather than your guy, you’d be howling just as loudly as we are.

The truth is, this highly emotional and hard-fought primary ended in a statistical dead heat, which was railroaded to a finish. That finish went your way. You’re too happy to notice how undemocratic the process was. Believe me, you’d notice were the shoe on the other foot.

You are the force that keeps this country safe and BO has no idea what that is like. Mccain at least can relate to what you are going through.

    • BlueTopaz

They said Hitler was articulate, too.

  • EightBelles

Michelle Obama’s story is compelling. Countless Americans have family histories that are likewise inspiring. Lest we forget, the John Edward’s biography about the son of a cotton mill worker who became a millionaire and went on to be John Kerry’s VP pick is a provocative story and cautionary tale. As we know, there will be no storybook ending for the Edwards.

I have to hand it to Michelle Obama–she may well be the more intelligent spouse. She’s certainly the more articulate. My hunch is Elizabeth Edwards has the brains in her marriage too. There are many (including Bill Clinton) who argue that Hillary Clinton is the one with greater intelligence in that union. What I’m getting at is a speech is just a speech, but did Michelle Obama just outshine “The One”?

A family member of mine in NC has a friend who works at the airport. This friend and her husband were at one time rabid Barack Obama supporters. According to this source, when Michelle Obama flew into town to read to children at a local school, she was so cold and aloof toward airport personnel that many of them decided on the spot they would no longer support Barack Obama. These airport employees couldn’t imagine a future first lady behaving so rudely toward everyday people.

The whole time I listened to Michelle Obama’s speech, I couldn’t stop thinking about all those years she and her husband spent sitting in Reverend Wright’s Church alongside of those two adorable daughters listening to their pastor spew out his message of hatred toward whites and damnation to America.

Will the real Michelle Obama please stand up?

    • http://safari AnnieCarmel

I think we’ve already seen the real MEchille. The one tonight was the damage control MEchille. The PR reinvention MEchille. The rehearsed MEchille. Don’t worry though, angry MEchille, mean MEchille, America just not good enough MEchille, ingrate MEchille is still just under the surface.

    • Dr. Kate

unfortunately, she can’t make reverend wrights church of hate go away. She did stand up, for 20 years. Now she wants to remake herself?

The real michelle is standing in front of you. She is in way over her head.

    • http://Ashy1 Leo Ashy

I guess Michelle Obama has no time or patience for the “little people.” My brother had the opportunity to sit near her in a restaurant in Chicago, and from his description of how she treated the staff, I believe she lost a few votes for her husband there, as well.

  • http://Ashy1 Leo Ashy

Are the Democrats having a convention? Yawn. Wake me up when it’s over.

  • matchles

Wow, this is impressive. No less than three conspiracy theories, racism, and accusations of fascism all in one thread. I was looking around for a bad reception to Michelle’s speech and you guys didn’t disappoint.

I also like the systematic stroking of egos. “LOL, yes we con, too funny”. “Haha you are so right Michelle does look like a witch”. This is the perfect display of an online circle jerk. The 15-20 of you regulars who gang up on anyone with a dissenting view, or anything nice to say about any Dem other than Hillary must feel really good about yourselves.

It’s also nice to watch how you feed off each other. I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were all at one time rational, if not bright individuals. Though by pushing each other to raise the bar you have managed without a shred of evidence to accuse Barack of setting up an assassination attempt on himself, and having the head of the Arkansas dems and Stephanie Tubbs killed.

In other words you guys have moved from righteous indignation with a little paranoia to bat-shit crazy land.

A helpful hint, if you ever want to encourage anyone to vote for McCain or stay home because of your perceived flaws in Obama, moderate your tone. If not, have at it, at the very least you guys are fun to watch. You remind me of the guy who sits at the bar in restaurants and talks loudly to anyone in earshot about any number of topics, all of which he knows absolutely nothing about. At least it doesn’t stop him from spinning a good bullshit story.

    • http://Ashy1 Leo Ashy

I thought Mrs. Obama’s speech was reasonably well executed but insincere in a number of aspects. (I appreciate sincerity in a First Lady.) And now I think I will visit some pro-Obama sites where the tone is–oh, so moderate. There I can revel in the creative soup of three and four letter words. Enjoy your condescension.

      • matchles

Insincere how? Please elaborate. If I have a problem with a person I can usually get past some ineffable quality and speak as to why I disagree or dislike them. There should be reasons for these feelings, at least I hope you are motivated by reason. But alas the reasoning here is usually circular. “I don’t like him because I don’t trust him, I can’t trust him because I don’t like him”.

It is still inexplicable why you’d leave a candidate whose policy is 95% that of the one you supported, for a man who votes against equal pay and rights for women and minorities, wants to seat judges who will overturn roe v wade, doesn’t have a health care plan, admits he doesn’t know the economy, wants to start more wars, and has voted with Bush 100% of the time this year.

Voting for character instead of policy did us wonders during the Bush years. Just because I’d rather have a beer with a guy doesn’t mean he should be running the country. Your logic fares no better.

        • socalannie

They have brought their hatred, racism and sexism into the Obama new Democratic Party.

          • matchles

Regardless, what about Michelle’s speech gave the impression of insincerity? Or preempting the response below. What about an Obama presidency is racist or sexist?

I’m just looking for concrete examples that we can discuss. Please show me that your position is rational.

Great post, I thought I was the only one.

Many here have moved past the point of being able to separate reality from fantasy and strangely enough people jump in with them.

The funniest point of the day yesterday..

When Debra Bartoshevich (the Clinton supporter turned McCain supporter) was asked how she felt about the fact that McCain wanted to overturn Roe v Wade said

“I’ve never heard of such a thing”

she didn’t know McCain wants to overturn Roe v. Wade despite the fact McCain has said he does not support it and it should be overturned.

  • http://puma caligirl

We will all start learning about who Obama really is very soon. They are just waiting for his nomination to be official. It was never about Obama becoming president. It’s always been about making sure Hillary didn’t become president. This game was set up back in 2006. The Republicans knew they did not have any strong contenders for their party and they knew Hillary would beat their opponent so they devised a strategy of crossover voting. That is why Obama won all the red states. It was even easier to implement their plan because the Clintons have so many enemies in the DNC. Dean, Kerry, Kennedy, etc. wanted revenge on the Clintons so they went right along with the Obama coronation. The biggest fool here is Obama because he has just been a tool for Karl Rove and the Republican party. He was the perfect candidate because of his huge ego and his closet full of dirty laundry. I used to be Democrat but I refuse to be in a party that is run by a pack of ignorant spiteful morons! You will all see very shortly how this will play out and I will be the first to say I TOLD YOU SO! The media will sonn turn against Obama as well. You’ll see:)

I just watched the MO speech — it was a good biographical speech, good lines(was it relevant? I don’t know) and she delivered it nicely (though a little too rehearsed with all that hand gestures) and smiled a lot more. It would have been a believable speech if they had conducted themselves differently in the primary and had record of accomplishments in public service. In fact, she would have made a better hopey-changy candidate also, better than her husband with all his stuttering as we saw later after her speech. There is a lot more hunger in her for this than him {but IMO only the title and the glamor and a certain vindictiveness of getting back at the whites but not the work itself to make people’s lives better or public service — I say this based on the lack of evidence in their resume of the same.} Everybody around them are using them and each other but nobody is thinking about the country — they throw around nice, well sounding lines to fool and manipulate gullible public for good measure but they are all in it for each other. Did you see Biden? He was thrilled to his bones of where he was. I liked her mother — could not help but think she had a sarcastic half smile on her face; maybe even she does not believe her daughter.

Apparently Hillary was the only thing standing between a lot of people and their inner republican, crying to get out…

    • Pink Panther

This site supports traditional Democratic Party values. The new Democratic Party supports racism, sexist and ageism. Obama’s new Democratic Party may call itself the “Democratic Party” but it does not represent the values and morals of equality and fairness for all.

You need to understand that the new Democratic Party is a mirror image of the old radical Republican Party.

The individuals on this site believe in fairness, equality, and do not want to endorse continued racism, sexism, ageism or hatred. To be part of the new Democratic Party is to endorse bigotry.

      • baba yaga

Respectfully disagree. The Democratic party has a lot of problems, but has quite a long way to fall before it can match the Republicans for venality, intolerance, and exclusivity. I think perhaps some people are equating what they read on the internet and hear in the vapid press with official party dogma. Not that the party doesn’t need a lot of fixing… but to equate today’s Democrats — even on the fringes — with the radical right wing of the Republican Party is rank hyperbole.

        • socalannie

Excellent choice of words, baba: venality, intolerance & exclusivity.

Exactly what many of here encountered when we tried to express our opinions on the pro-Obama sites, Huffpo, Kos, etc.

          • baba yaga

And I’m not defending those internet sites. But — they’re internet sites socalannie. Kos isn’t representative of the Democratic party — much as he might want folks to believe that he is. Neither is Arriana. Neither is Larry or Susan. Or Jerome, or Alegre. Or me, or you.

            • socalannie

Very true. And the representatives of the Dem party allowed the caucuses to be gamed; Hillary (& other women) to be eviscerated on a daily basis by the msm and never spoke out about it; reapportioned the delegates so that one race received more delegates than the others…I could go on, but its late. The new dem party isn’t worthy of my support.

              • sarobinson4320

People you lost. Get over it. Obama played by the rules as they were written. Your girl actually tried to change the rules as the game was being played. However, I do understand how you feel because if Hilary were the candidate I would not support her as I’m not a “hard working white American.”

    • Astra14

I’ve noticed that too… that it’s gone pro-Republican and there are other third parties out there.

If anyone really wanted to send a message to both the Democrats and Republicans they’d jump on the third party bandwagon. That’s the only way to knock sense into both parties…and both parties need wakeup calls that this country is a democracy and our votes count. Not continue this two-party tradition that’s gone wrong on both sides and is harming this country.

Michelle shouldn’t have said that thing about loving America. It just made everyone remember that she doesn’t. Now it is all over the news, “Michelle now says she loves America!”

1st of April 2009, it’s 3 am. A top adviser runs into Obama’s bedroom, wakes him up and says: “Mr president! The Russians have attacked the Ucraine! What will be our response?” Obama looks at the man, scratches his head and answers: “Uh….Eeeehh….Uuuuuhhh…I don’t know…That question is beyond my paygrade…” The aide insists “We have to react, Mr President! What should we do?” After thinking for some minutes Obama replies “Maybe we can talk to them and tell them in a nice and thoughtful conversation to stop!?!” Both share a laugh and the aide leaves while the president goes back to sleep. Guess who the last laugh is on?

In all fairness, it was a well-written but speech. Her delivery, however, was a bit forced and breathless — perhaps the product of too much rehearsal/coaching. The sentimentalism was laid on nice and thick, but she needed to do that, from a political perspective.

What really irked me was the choreographed video “phone call” at the end, with Daddy Barack beaming at his wife, and the girls chirping scripted lines (“Hi Daddy!”; “I love you, Daddy!”). The kids are sweet, but this whole epilogue was clearly staged.

The speech was emotionally manipulative, but the bit at the end had me groaning aloud.

    • NO for O

She still gave her “old” speech about how this country is still not right, but can be wrighted by O. It was packaged a teensy weensy bit nicer, but same old tired “what is wrong with this country” message. Ick.

  • DancingOpossum

Notice how the biggest applause Michelle got during the whole speech was when she mentioned Hillary’s name? HAHAHAHA!!!

Also notice how the new poll numbers showing a FURTHER drop for Obama in the polls (as of today he’s lost Florida) has led to today’s flood of desperate, whining Obamabots?? Too funny.

“Oh we come here for amusement.” Suuuuuure you do. Please, please, read us the story about how the One is cruising to a historic landslide victory on the strength of the Ground Game, we never get enough of that one!!

Oh, but then you accuse HRC not having her heart in humping for Obama.

You need consistency. Or maybe another round of meds.

You Obamatrons are absolutely pathetic. What? You don’t think we read multiple threads.

Get lost! Get a life. Better yet, get a frigging job.

Hillary Clinton, it’s not McCain’s campaign that divides us. It’s the corruption in the DNC that divides us; it’s the character and ideology of Barack that divides us; it’s the company he keeps and has kept ever since he moved to Chicago that divides us; it’s the attempt to block freedom of speech that divides us; and it’s the kind of thug Obamabots he has hired to make us fall in line that divides us. Sorry, Hillary, but you can’t blame this on McCain.

Actually for years the worst/funny thing about the Democratic Convention was watching white people dance.

They have always played current and classic songs to increase the horror show.

    It’s a tradition.

If you would have seen a few conventions previous to this you would know that.

    LOL
