Bill Clinton Lays Out Clear Message for Delegates!

“Suppose you’re a voter, and you’ve got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don’t think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?”—Bill Clinton.

Of course, Bill added, “This has nothing to do with what’s going on now.”

Clinton is clearly suggesting that the party and delegates are making the wrong choice in coronating Obama this week.  Obama and company can scream all they want, but as the only successful two-term Democratic president in recent memory, Clinton can and needs to say anything he wants.  The truth hurts but the Dear Leader, his cult following, and delegates should listen carefully and not dismiss Clinton’s hypothetical question out of hand.  (I suspect Bill will be the next voice for an upcoming McCain ad, maybe just hours before Obama’s nominating vote!)

It is refreshing to see that Bill has not given up on Hillary yet.  Also, this has to give Obama serious heartburn as he contemplates Bill at the microphone tomorrow.

See Sam Youngman’s “Bill Clinton in Denver again undercuts Obama” (at The Hill) for discussion of Bill’s talk today with foreign dignitaries in Denver.

I love the Big Dawg, best president ever. I got the message. Stand up for what you believe in.

I believe I will never vote for Obama. And I’ll stand up anytime and repeat that belief.

i used to respect him, but no more. why is he such a douchebag?

President Clinton has done more than any other politicians for the AAs and yet Obama and his people called him a racist.
Obama and his surrogates/supporters are doing a lot of disservice to the AAs by calling anybody who doesn’t support him a racist. I always supported Afirmative Action but now I don’t because of them. I’m fed up with their arrogance and ignorance.

  • beverly leslie

Good thing he didn’t pick her because now we and the media can talk about how stupid it was he didn’t. Not that any of us wanted her to be second fiddle to his stupid ass.

    GALLUP POLL – ELECTION NEWS

Hillary’s Stock Still High Among Democrats
    August 26, 2008

Hillary Clinton remains a highly popular figure among Democrats, with an 80% favorable rating. Three in four Democrats would like to see her run for president again and be a major-party spokesperson over the next four years.
Gallup Daily: No Bounce for Obama in Post-Biden Tracking

    August 26, 2008
Gallup Poll Daily tracking interviewing from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday indicates that Barack Obama has received no bounce in voter support from his selection of Sen. Joe Biden to be his vice presidential running mate. The race remains virtually tied with John McCain now slightly ahead 46%-44%.

Have you read what ABC News is reporting???

Last week the once rival Democratic camps agreed to place Clinton’s name into nomination in order to mollify her supporters, still bitter after a divisive five-month long primary battle.
But as the convention got underway, party leaders aborted that plan in an attempt to avoid any televised public displays of disunity during the roll call.

The first 30 minutes of Wednesday’s convention program will be devoted to nominating and seconding speeches for Obama and Clinton. After a roll call begins, the Obama and Clinton camps have agreed that the roll call will halt at some point and the convention will move to nominate Obama by acclamation.

  • typical.white.person

    Bill Clinton on Tuesday:

Bill Clinton appeared to undermine Sen. Barack Obama again Tuesday.

The former president, speaking in Denver, posed a hypothetical question in which he seemed to suggest that that the Democratic Party was making a mistake in choosing Obama as its presidential nominee.

He said: “Suppose for example you’re a voter. And you’ve got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don’t think that person can deliver on anything. Candidate Y disagrees with you on half the issues, but you believe that on the other half, the candidate will be able to deliver. For whom would you vote?”

Then, perhaps mindful of how his off-the-cuff remarks might be taken, Clinton added after a pause: “This has nothing to do with what’s going on now.”

    and,

“For those of us interested in politics, it was an endlessly fascinating process already, and it’s still got some twists and turns between now and November,” Clinton said.

During her speech, Hillary cited a litany of issues which were essentially Obama’s campaign theme:

We need to elect Barack Obama, because we need a president who understands that America can’t compete in the global economy by padding the pockets of energy speculators while ignoring the workers whose jobs have been shipped overseas.

We need a president who understands we can’t solve the problems of global warming by giving windfall profits to the oil companies while ignoring opportunities to invest in the new technologies that will build a green economy.

We need a president who understands that the genius of America has always depended on the strength and vitality of the middle class.

Barack Obama began his career fighting for workers displaced by the global economy. He built his campaign on a fundamental belief that change in this country must start from the ground up, not the top down.

    (APPLAUSE)

And he knows that government must be about “we the people,” not “we the favored few.”

And when Barack Obama is in the White House, he’ll revitalize our economy, defend the working people of America, and meet the global challenges of our times.

    .

Just think of what America will be as we transform our energy economy, create those millions of jobs, build a strong base for economic growth and shared prosperity, get middle-class families the tax relief they deserve.

And I cannot wait to watch Barack Obama sign into law a health care plan that covers every single American.

    (APPLAUSE)

And we know that President Obama will end the war in Iraq responsibly, bring our troops home, and begin to repair our alliances around the world.

Of course these issues were Obama’s Flip, before has has the opportunity to yet Flop.

Obama has stated he was going to bring Hope and Change, starting from the bottom up.

Obama preached that he was going to govern from the bottom up:

Obama’s speeches are peppered with references to governing from the bottom up, as contrasted to Hillary Clinton, who would govern from the top down.

And, that he would bring Change from the bottom up:

As Obama has emphasized, change comes from the bottom up.

Does Barack care about “the working people of America” to quote Hillary?

Everything Obama did during his legislative career, his actions, were to “pad the pockets” of his corporate buddies (i.e., from the top down, not the bottom up), while he screwed the “workers” on the bottom who lived in his district.

In return, Obama’s corporate buddies funneled money back to Barack and Michelle.

Michelle kicked people out of the hospital and sent them to neighborhood clinics to get cheaper quality health care while her salary nearly tripled.

Bill and Hillary seem to have been saying that Obama preaches one thing to the people (“from the bottom up,” not the top down), while Obama does the exact opposite as a politician (Rezko, Ayers, U-C Hospital).

What Hillary said at the convention is essentially an indictment prepared in advance, to hold Obama accountable for everything he has promised to the people. It will be there for the record because she knows Obama (Candidate X) cannot possibly deliver what he has promised. Obama simply lied to the people in order to get elected. Bill and Hillary understand this.

Hillary (Candidate Y) made promises she knew she could follow through with based upon the current economic conditions.

It is the working people who voted for Obama who will ultimately be hurt.

    Obama is a fraud.

Obama graduated from the exclusive private Punahou High School in Hawaii. He attended Occidential College, a small private college in Los Angeles. He graduated from Columbia University, a private university in New York City. And, received his law degree from Harvard University, a private university. Both Columbia and Harvard are considered ivy league schools.

Michelle Obama graduated from Princeton and Harvard Universities, both private ivy league schools.

Their family income was $1.6 million in 2005 and close to $1 million in 2006. He lives in a multi-million dollar home.

Obama has stocks, government paid health care, government paid retirement benefits, and his children go to private school.

Michelle Obama is currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000 a year job from a prestigious hospital.

Need we know more? Obama wants us to believe he can relate to middle class America. He is just a typical Washington politician living off tax payers.

What is so offensive is that he tries to make people believe he different from the other politicians. Yeah, right.

Rep. Lewis on PBS Newshour: Jan, 2008

REP. JOHN LEWIS (D), Georgia: Judy, I knew Martin Luther King, Jr. I marched with him. I worked with him. He played a major role in inspiring people, giving people hope.

I also knew Lyndon Johnson. I was there with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on March 15, 1965, when we watched Lyndon Johnson deliver his speech in response to what was happening in Selma, when he said, “And we shall overcome.”

I looked at Dr. King. He looked at me, and tears came down his eyes. And he said, “We will get the civil rights bill, the voting rights bill passed. We will march from Selma to Montgomery.”

I think there’s been a deliberate, systematic attempt on the part of some people in the Obama camp to really fan the flame of race and really try to distort what Senator Clinton said. I understand and I think most right-thinking people understood what she said.

Martin Luther King, Jr., created the climate, created the environment, but it took a Lyndon Johnson to get the legislation through the Congress.

No one is trying to say Dr. King did little. He did a great deal. He is not crying out from his grave in Atlanta saying, “Defend me.” His legacy doesn’t need any defense.

Bill Clinton will be a gentleman and play the Democratic convention part well given to him, as Hillary graciously played her role. Bots should not fear what either will say or do. If Biden suddenly announced he’d decided not to be the VP candidate… After Hillary Clinton’s speech tonight and Bill’s tomorrow, it would be a stroke of political genius that would leave democrats ecstatic and the McCain campain in a state of total confusion. Bill Kristol and Hannity would probably have apoplectic seizures on live televison.

It’ll never happen, of course. But if I were making a movie, that’s the way the movie would go.

  • Observer

Because most of Obama’s African-American supporters are racists. What, you don’t think minorities can be racists too?

Ask Obama’s Illinois political mentor, Illinois Senate President Emil Jones (the guy who put Obama’s name on many bills in the state senate just to boost Obama’s superthin resume even though Obama did not do a single thing in crafting many of those bills) who called one of Hillary’s female African-American delegates an “Uncle Tom”. That is really insulting and racist.

Obama’s AA supporters cannot see beyond race and skin color. How racist.

  • DeniseB

And many of them believe completely that the Clintons were involved in multiple scandals (Whitewater, Travelgate, various questionable deaths), rather than that they were the objects of relentless unfounded accusations by the right wing.

I don’t know how this got around, but it was one of the first things I noticed about the young Obama supporters that made me suspicious. I think it must have been in their talking points.

  • sfhillary

Damn, you people really are beyond reason. Hillary could not have been clearer: the future of the nation and all our children hangs in the balance in this election. So, by the way, does her likely political future; I now believe she is more likely to become president in 2016 after Obama inaugurates the new progressive era than in 2012 if McCain squeaks in and inaugurates who only knows what crazed militaristic nightmare.

Whatever. You are all insane. God forgive you for what you are trying to do to the world this year.

  • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

Er, no, it would leave McCain ecstatic and democrats, well, perplexed. Obama would go back to the drawing board, would probably drop 10 points.

Not a bad result from the noquarter point of view (or mine), but not a fairly shocking demoralizer from almost everyone at the convention.

It’d be interesting to see what Obama would do, though.

  • Joe Biden

    Wow. Another clean, articulate African-American…

  • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

Dude, I don’t get the fundamental contradiction of “loving Hillary” and then not listening to Hillary, either….but, they aren’t trying to ruin the world.

I think they have a point about not being obligated to vote dem for life. McCain might well be a boon to a democratic congress with his environmental record and his ability to bring a few republicans with him in the spirit of bipartisanship.

Even if you’re a dem, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have McCain in.

In my imaginary movie, the whole damn thing would have been carefully planned out a few days before Joe Biden was announced as the vice presidential candidate. They’d have decided it was the cleverest way to get Clinton supporters to accept Hillary in the second slot, the best way to create a dramatic moment that would get millions of disinterested voters glued to their televisions until election day, and the best way to confuse the McCain VP decision at the last minute. They would have all been in on it.

And dottie, exactly what does that have to do with his presidency. He left the White House with a 65% approval rating among all voters and 85% among AAs. He left a balanced budget and a projected surplus of over one trillion dollars. Average incomes adjusted for inflation increased for all Americans and for AAs the increase was the largest ($3,500/yr). Small business loans to AAs increased by 50%. BTW. Did you know JFK had numerous liaisons before and during his presidency and Jackie threatened to divorce him during his campaign? Did you know FDR had a long time affair and his mistress was with him at the time of his death? Dwight Eisenhower began an affair with his driver during WW ll and she continued to work for him after his election to the White House. Richard Nixon had an affair with the Chinese woman who interpreted for him during his visit to that country. Grover Cleveland’s mistress had his child while he was president and Warren Harding mistress blackmailed him and he paid $20,000 for a trip around the world for her. Thomas Jefferson had an affair with his slave and she bore his children.

  • ziggy

I totally agree with you. I believe Hillary Clinton meant absolutely every word she said, without ulterior motives or self-interest entering in. This election is about far more than John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. It will determine our future, and the futures of those who come after us. A John McCain administration would stand in the way of changes that must be made now. We can’t afford to wait for 4 more years.

Some people are going to vote for McCain no matter what Hillary says or how powerfully she conveys sincerity. Apparently these people wish to destroy her career.

But if they want to vote for McCain, McCain can have them—truly.

On the contrary, what is currently passing itself off as the Democratic party doesn’t stand for Democratic values and Clinton Dems want no part of it.

Better to endure another four years of the same than to turn the party over to corrupt and unqualified hands. Some day the Obama supporters will be thanking us holdouts for saving the party.

If you think for one minute that Hillary wants us to vote for Obama you are crazy.

  • ziggy

I’m not sure what you disagree with. What are you saying?

    That Hillary was lying?
That she has ulterior motives based on self-interest?
That the election is only about personalities?
That a John McCain administration won’t stand in the way of any democratic policies we like, or promote any republican policies we dislike?
Or are you saying there’s no urgency, and that we have all the time in the world to get the country back on the right track?

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

My movie goes that there is a roll call from the floor and all of the delegates representing the people in the all of the states that voted for Hillary suddenly grow a spine, and vote the way they were elected to vote. sfhillary, exactly who do you think is going to bring Hillary down now? Her campaign and her speech tonight has put her out of reach of any political payback. What part of 18mil. votes don’t you understand? Democrats love Hillary more now that ever and she is untouchable. Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Donna Brazil and Harry Reid wouldn’t dare go off on her. Did you notice when Kathleen Sebelius was talking no one was listening? When Mark Warner was talking, no one was listening. Nancy Pelosi looked like a windup doll and very few were interested enough to listen to anything she had to say. Hillary is historical and they are history. BTW. i heard Obama is having the Invesco Field turned into a Greek Colosseum for his speech Thursday complete with columns and and a raised platform with steps and everything. Isn’t that classy? I just thinking he might wear a toga and sandals. Maybe he will have one of those crowns made from leaves? I can just picture it in my mind now and can’t stop laughing.

    MORE ON CANDIDATE X:

Let’s see…Candidate X agrees with you on everything, except when he flip-flops and suddenly disagrees with you on everything.

Candidate X and his followers called you and everyone you love racists. They called your wife and your mother c*nts. They spread lies and misogynistic slander against your candidate. They blatantly rigged the primaries, then told you to get over it (known in politics as “twisting the knife”).

Candidate X stammers like a child and displays distinct delusional and sociopathic tendencies. He plagiarizes. He flip-flops like a turbine engine. He’s tight with a Syrian political fixer in Chicago. He lies about his past. He has surrounded himself with neocon advisers.

He cannot control his Brownshirt fans. His records are missing. Everything he has ever done betrays the most execrable judgment. His wife uses psychotic imagery on former Democratic Presidents.

Under these circumstances, Candidate Y will have to do.

  • janetmc

I love Bill Clinton. He knows Hillary will never get nominated, the fix is in. He also knows her supporters will not support Obama because he is an empty suit and can’t be trusted to accomplish anything.

  • roseeriter

Hillary started her speech which was MAGNIFICENT by the way, with “My FRIENDS”– that spoke volumes to me.

“My Friends’ will not support Obama.

  • Eric

Folks, I am so conservative I don’t think I can even call myself a Republican sometimes but I am here to tell you that the Dem’s have made a huge mistake with BO. I don’t know who is pulling the strings but fixing BO as the candidate is a terrible mistake. I don’t agree with the Clinton’s on all the issues but I believe Hillary could have given Mccain a run for his money and I would feel SAFE with her leadership even if my bank account wouldn’t be.

Take your party back from the marxist thugs that control it now. BO will only serve to further radicalize the Dem. party and make it a bigger joke than it already is.

    Hillary is a class act.

  • Isabelle

    Perry…….an extraordinary post.

Per a commentator’s comment on “Morning Joe” this a.m.: post Candidate X’s presumptive Primary win, Candidate “Y” called Candidate “X’s” wife multiple times; however, all Candidate “Y’s” calls were unrequited! If this is true, it is unconscionable: inconceivably offensive.

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Barr as Libertarian is the biggest joke ever.
When he was in Congress he was a red meat conservative, supporting the extreme right social agenda. He may be libertarian as far as taxes go, but that’s about it.

And he has all the charm of a rattlesnake in the coiled position.

  • Greg

FUCK YOU, you don’t deserve to live on the same planet as Bill Clinton. Candidate Y is my choice because candidate X and his surrogates and followers are ASSHOLES!

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

    Washington Post:
“Many Clinton supporters say speech did not heal divisions.

“I hate Obama so much that I’m going to devote as much time to McCain as I did to Hillary,” said Adita Blanco, a Democrat from Edward, Okla., who has never voted for a Republican. “Obama has nothing. He has no experience. The Democratic Party doesn’t care about us. You couldn’t treat [Clinton] any worse.”

Perhaps the best example of the persistent divide in the Democratic Party came after Clinton’s speech Tuesday night. The lights went down in the Pepsi Center, and some influential Democrats left downtown for good. They planned to head for the airport and fly home, long before Obama accepts the nomination in a speech at Invesco Field on Thursday night.

  • B.O. Stinks-Michelle Said So

ROLL CALL has ALWAYS been protocol whether the contest was close or not. Why are they changing it now?

FEAR… Barky’s scared shitless, believe it.

So the DNC manipulates the convention this time. Makes it look like Obama’s “allowing” a roll call. BS!!! Roll Call has always been the rule of thumb. Why doesn’t our media call this out? It’s beyond outrageous. They’re shoving this unity crap down our throats but they are WELL AWARE that it doesn’t work that way. Not in a Democracy.

And next time? Next time they may not even “allow” us to vote in the primaries. Why bother anyway – they selected the Radical One years before – they had their plan down pat. Let the “little people” think they nominated the candidate… “We’ll tweak this and that, rewrite the rules as we go to favor our Chosen One – the poor, ignorant slobs will never notice. They’ll just follow us over the cliff.”

The Democratic Party has been hijacked by a bunch of Fascist Elitist Thugs. THAT is why I’m not voting for Obamessiah. Not just because they slandered and smeared their best chance of winning the GE (Hillary) and the only 2 term President since FDR. They have manipulated a bunch of thumb-sucking morons that have no clue on how the system was designed.

Does anyone remember the ’80 convention when Jimmy Carter put his hand out to Kennedy and Kennedy snubbed him? Walked right past him, right on national television for the world to see. But now Kennedy wants unity? He’s the biggest hypocrite of them all.

I was actually going to vote for Obama in a few years. God, I’m so glad I found him and his thugs out before I made that mistake.

At least McCain has an honorable war record. I may not agree with McCain on a few issues, but at least he’s had some degree of honor in his lifetime. There’s not an ounce of honor in Barack Obama. And that’s why this life-long, yellow dog Dem will pull the lever for the GOP for the 1st time in her life.

    McCain ’08 – Hillary ’12!!!

  • Roxanne

Yes, Jesse Jetstream, Jr. is married, and his wife (Sherri, I believe is her name) recently won a position of Alderman in the City of Chicago. If Barackula loses, Illinois and Chicago politics may become real spectator sports as Jesse, Jr. seems bored with the House of Representatives, and he, his wife, Barack and Michelle may all return to jockey for positions in Chicago and the State of Illinois. If Illinois Governor Blagjevich avoids indictment, conviction or a new effort to pass impeachment legislation, the governor’s race will have a very crowded primary, and Mayor Daley should also expect some real opposition, for a change.

Bill and Hillary left the White House at the end of Bill’s 8 years of the Presidency, and his 65% approval rating was hardly “in disgrace”. Hopium is grown from 100% pure BULLSHIT right out of the ass of AXELCRAP.

Obama himself is one huge pile of AXELCRAP, brought to life in a horrible WMD Biological weapons experiment.

Unleashing this huge pile of BULLSHIT lifeform on the unsuspecting innocents is the worst incident of domestic terrorism in the history of Man.

NIce display of arrogance coming from just another Obot. The more you push Obama, the more we will refuse. And apparently we have a lot of good company too.

Gallup Poll: McCain 2 ahead, statistical heat, but during the convention this week, voters should be falling in love with Obama, but it just isn’t happening and won’t.

    We’re gonna love the 527s.

  • http://! Buzz Latte

66% of Dems would rather they nominate Clinton than Obama? Woah, that’s a little snapshot of reality.

Scroll down to the very end of the gallup poll linked above by “heather”.

Dems don’t want Obama only the Obots want Obama. Classic.

A little confusing the graphic is unclear and I read it three times.

But if the 27% won’t vote for Obama, then he’s toast. He’s just not gonna win!

  • Sassy

Nobody, but nobody can match the Clintons…success, favorability, respect around the world, and loved!
This lying pretender and spouse are “green” with envy, and they will never measure up!
    Go McCain! A true American!

  • ming_the_merciless

A 5-second broadcast delay? That’s a pretty feeble conspiracy. They probably want to be able to cut the audio momentarily if Bill breaks wind on stage.

  • ming_the_merciless

Evidently you’ve only recently moved up from scrawling obscenities and anatomically inaccurate pictures on the walls of men’s room toilet stalls. You should have stayed there. You stood a better chance of making new friends…

Amazing how many breaks Barry got because of affirmative action.

  • Woody

Do you mean the American Way or the God Dam# AmeriKKKa Way according to Obama’s old uncle Jeremiah?

  • PewL

People are discussing what Bill Clinton will say in his speech tonite…It’s no surprise,Bill Clinton doesn’t like Obama,

But if Bill comes out with Anyone can run for President,as long as all the requirements meets, the constitution, than we can pretty well all assume imo, that this Birth Certificate, problem, may have some legs.imo.

I guess we will see what he says tonite..I’m sure he’ll be hinting, and we will need to read inbetween the lines…One thing he will say for sure,imo..

    is HE’S NOT A RACIST!!!

Does anyone know if the rumor is true that the court injunction against Obama is going to or has been signed today?

    Re: Berg vs Obama

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

nah, he’ll just move to one of the other countries he has citizenship in and run for office. Maybe Odinga will let him be vp.

  • ClintonFan
