Obama’s Increasing Disdain For The Press

Well, this is a fine how-do-you-do for a press that was completely sycophantic for Obama, did his bidding, published whatever he, Plouffe, or Axelrod claimed about Obama without EVER bothering to look it up (except for a very, very few intrepid reporters, like John Kass and Lynn Sweet, both out of Chicago). The same press that made his attacks for him, groundless and baseless though they may have been, that the Clintons were racist, Hillary* knew nothing about foreign policy since she had only gone from the “airport to the embassy,” and watched kids dance whenever she traveled abroad as First Lady, as well as touting the meme that Obama grew up the poor child of a poor single mother.

*Bonus – Obama mentioned in his attack on Clinton’s foreign policy experience that he went to Pakistan in college. HOW??? Americans weren’t allowed to travel to Pakistan then. Maybe if the press did their jobs, they would have followed up on that little nugget. Newsflash! It’s not too late!!!! Sheesh.

The press ran with his lame-ass excuse that he was never all that close to Jeremiah Wright ANYWAY, since we were all learning what kind of pastor and church Obama attended. So, he referred to him as “uncle,” acting like he was some wacky relative you couldn’t get rid of, yet he CHOSE to sit in his church for over 20 years. And Bill Ayers? Oh, he was just some guy in his neighborhood. Never mind that Obama had known, and worked, with him for years. P-shaw, people – who are you gonna believe, the naysayers or The One?

As they say, the proverbial chickens are coming home to roost. I am surprised it is happening this quickly, actually. Yep – Obama is blowing off the press, international as well as national, including breaking with protocol (oh THERE’S a surprise. The man cares nothing for decorum and protocol, which strutting in to “99 Problems But a Bitch Ain’t One” should have told anyone. And if THAT wasn’t enough, maybe this photo should have:

Oh, yeah – Jay-Z in the Situation Room at the White House. I think we can assume that Obama is pretty fond of his misogynistic music, wouldn’t you?

So, the press may finally be getting that smack upside the head they have needed for the past few years regarding Obama in this Dana Millbank article(I know, right? Maybe he got himself some smelling salts to snap out of it already.):

Obama’s Disregard For Media Reaches New Heights At Nuclear Summit.

World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.

They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.

In the middle of it all was Obama — occupant of an office once informally known as “leader of the free world” — putting on a clinic for some of the world’s greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

The only part of the summit, other than a post-meeting news conference, that was visible to the public was Obama’s eight-minute opening statement, which ended with the words: “I’m going to ask that we take a few moments to allow the press to exit before our first session.”

Reporters for foreign outlets, many operating in repressive countries, got the impression that the vaunted American freedoms are not all they’re cracked up to be.

Yasmeen Alamiri from the Saudi Press Agency got this lesson in press freedom when trying to cover Obama’s opening remarks as part of a limited press “pool”: “The foreign reporters/cameramen were escorted out in under two minutes, just as the leaders were about to begin, and Obama was going to make remarks. . . . Sorry, it is what it is.”

Alamiri’s counterparts from around the world had similar experiences. Arabic-language MBC TV’s Nadia Bilbassy had this to say of Obama’s meeting with the Jordanian king: “We were there for around 30 seconds, not enough even to notice the color of tie of both presidents. I think blue for the king.”

Ah, yes – repairing the image of the United States around the world, that Obama, isn’t he? Sure, right:

Lalit K. Jha of the Press Trust of India, at Obama’s meeting with the Pakistani prime minister, reported, “In less than a minute, the pool was asked to leave.” The Yomiuri Shimbun correspondent found that she was “ushered out about 30 seconds” after arriving for Obama’s meeting with the Malaysian prime minister. Emel Bayrak of Turkey’s TRT-Turk went to Obama’s meeting with the president of Armenia but “we had to leave the room again after less than 40 seconds.”

“When you only see the president for 15 or 20 seconds without him asking if you have any questions, it’s very frustrating,” said Laura Haim of France’s Canal+, which persuaded the White House to include foreign outlets in the press pool. “It’s very important for this president, who wants to restore the image of the United States, to have more access.”

Obama’s official schedule for Tuesday would have pleased China’s Central Committee. Excerpts: “The President will attend the Heads of Delegation working lunch. This lunch is closed press . . . The President will meet with Prime Minster Erdogan of Turkey. This meeting is closed press. . . . The President will attend Plenary Session II of the Nuclear Security Summit. This session is closed press.”

Hey, maybe THAT’S why he bowed to the Chinese president, Hu Jintao, at the Nuclear Summit he just finished hosting in Washington, DC (no excuses about “cultural expectations” this time, folks). he was thanking him for giving him the rubric for how to run meetings and cut off the press! Yeah, that’s the ticket! (and I LOVE that Media Matters refers to Obama’s bowing to foreign leaders, who do NOT bow back, as “supposed.” Are you kidding me with that kind of dissembling? Please. You know, Media Matters actually used to be a site for which I had respect. I thought it really did work to highlight improper reporting, regardless who was doing it. Nice to get those rose-colored glasses off. Because if they can’t accept that Obama has been bowing to other leaders (he was practically scraping the floor meeting the Emperor of Japan), they have zero credibility on this issue. (Photo by Jim Watson, AFP/Getty Images)

Back to Millbank and the reporters being a bit taken aback by the “transparency” and “openness” of this “hopey, changey” president:

Reporters, even those on the White House beat for two decades, said it was the most restrictive set of meetings they had ever seen in Washington. They complained to both the administration and White House Correspondents’ Association, which will discuss the matter Thursday with White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

The restrictions have become a common practice for the Obama White House. When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to the White House a couple of weeks ago, reporters were kept away. Soon after that, Obama signed an executive order on abortion, again without any coverage.

Over the weekend, Obama broke with years of protocol and slipped off to a soccer game without the “protective” pool that is always in the vicinity of the president in case the unthinkable occurs. Obama joked about it later to Pakistan’s prime minister, saying reporters “were very upset.”

Ahahahaha. Those silly, pesky little reporters! Isn’t it amusing that Obama broke with years of protocol (think back to his treatment of Prime Minister Brown, “rudeness personified,” press people) by shaking them off and not treating them like professionals trying to do their jobs? Oh, that’s a good one. I’m sure they are ALL laughing about it – not.

Back to the Millbank article and the Summit:

In “bilateral” meetings with foreign leaders, presidents usually take questions, or at least trade statements. But at most of Obama’s, there were only written “readouts”:

Canada: “The president and the prime minister noted the enduring strength of our bilateral partnership.” India: “The two leaders vowed to continue to strengthen the robust relationship between the people of their countries.” Pakistan: “President Obama began by noting that he is very fond of Pakistan.”

Reporters, many in a “filing center” about a quarter-mile away from the leaders’ meetings, relied on dispatches from colleagues allowed in as the press pool. The dispatches, over three days, were uniform: “They were too far away to hear conversation. . . . Again, Obama had nothing to say of substance that pooler heard. . . . We were in for all of 30 seconds. No news; no quotes and again no statements. . . . Same deal folks.”

Finally, Obama walked over to a group of reporters Monday afternoon. Would he give them an account of his meetings? “I’ll let somebody else do it,” he said with a smile.

Oh, well, I am sure they all swooned and lapped up the fleeting attention. Right? Let’s hope not. Let’s hope they are FINALLY going to start looking at this man they helped get into the White House, OUR White House, on half truths, denials of relationships and reality, blessed little investigative reporting on, well, ANYTHING of substance when it came to Obama (remember, they couldn’t be bothered to send anyone to the distant lands of CHICAGO, but they could send a whole bunch to Wasilla, Alaska). Maybe now, just maybe, they will start to do their jobs in time to get this charlatan, this egotist, out of our White House in 2012. Actually LOOK at his record, FIND his records, stop buying rumors and innuendos from his people, QUESTION what you are told by this most nontransparent of presidents. Do your jobs. Hop to it already.

    Good post, R3A.

I think the clearest evidence of Barry’s disdain for the press came the other day when he “went to his daughter’s soccer game” without them.

Nothing about that little excursion seems to make sense.  Funny, though.  You don’t see them reporting on it.

    Dog, they’re disgusting.

I see Barry was back up to -8 in yesterday’s Rasmussen DTP.  The “Strongly disapprove” numbers have barely budged since July, hanging in there at 42-45%.  But the “Strongly approve” numbers have been all over the map…from 22% to 36%.

It’s as though we’re afflicted with some form of national narcolepsy.  We wake up for a while when reality makes itself rudely known and then we fall back to sleep, lulled by Barry’s pretty words.  Stay awake, people!

  • HARP

Any time a republican goes on a lefty TV show they need to ask the interviewer…….”so you must believe in socialism”? Time to put them on the spot. In other words interview the host of the show.

  • AbigailAdams

Citizens against this government should start with ousting them and should only stop when all the corrupt “news” people are gone, too.  Set a lock on your tee vee schedule and do write to your newspapers.  The only thing that will get a response is when no one is listening, watching or reading their empty “news.”  Our house hasn’t watched cnn, msnbc, cbs, abc or nbc for nearly 2 years.  And as it turns out, we haven’t missed any real “news”.  We’ve also written their sponsors.  Give it time and a consistent deprivation of consumers and these people will have to find something more constructive to do with their time.

  • Freedom Fighter

You know, I haven’t any other journalists whine and complain about the president. What a coincidence that Dana is also the one to bash this administration by writing this article?

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/19/AR2010021904298.html

To paraphrase Chris Matthews, I think this goes deeper than just silly press protocols, it has more to do with the race of the man in the White House.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, Creeper – Yep, I couldn’t agree more.  It is iinfuriating that our media so drive our politics.

As it turns out, Obama’s numbers have gone down again according to recent polls.  Glad some folks are finally waking up, but still too many want to give him the benefit of the doubt.  My question is: at what cost?  How far down are you willing to drive the country just to let Obama get his way?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Right there with you, AA – I absolutely REFUSE to watch MSNBC, and I used to routinely DVR Keith until he revealed his blatant misogyny.  No more.  I can’t stand CNN, either.  Yeah, I don’t watch those “news” sources any more…

I guess MSNBC decided they liked money more than the lies they have propagated for years.

Oh course they had to make fun of Sarah Palin’s voice yesterday after they played the audio without any background noice.  Ummmmmmmmmm, where have we seen that scenario before?

And, then Joe said her voice was in the upper rafters but the content was correct.

Then, high pitch whinney voiced Donnie Deutsch came on ………. no comments about his voice.

    Only slightly OT…

The press isn’t the only thing Barry’s disdainful of.  He’s not wild about being the leader of a military superpower, either.

    Whine, whine, whine.

I had the strangest thought earlier today.  I’d been reading about Barry slashing NASA’s budget and the howls of protest by scientists there.  Is it remotely possible NASA’s moon program was cancelled because it is the one thing that might be more historic than Barry?  Success there would take the spotlight completely off Barry but he’s not smart enough to realize that he’d get the credit anyway.

Maybe he’s just not big on science.  Gee, if we had his school records we’d know for sure, wouldn’t we?

thanks for bringing this to our attention RRRA.

The NBC networks (my husband watches them, but haha advertizers, he’s not a major consumer in our household) are still carrying his water even if Dana Millbank has bothered to continue the current spurned-media meme in his recent article.  At least once a week NBC Nightly News has a fluff piece about the first family.  This never happened before — it’s endoctrination, pure and simple.  I can no longer stand Brian Williams and I boycott his sponsors.

I have to say though I loved the opening of Dana’s article, re: Soviet-era Moscow.  I happen to think the POTUS is more of a corporatist lapdog but the analogy will get some people going.

He is a corporatist lapdog. But so is the congress. Lobbyists get all the attention and “we the people” just pay the bills. Which makes sense… who owns the media? Corporations do. Who owns insurance companies, banks, Wall Street, Pharma, hospitals… corporations do.  Subsidizing migrant labor by giving them social benefits helps farm corporations because otherwise nobody would come here to pick produce for less than it costs to live here. Our entire political system has evolved into some giant corporate enablement system. Regular people can go to hell as far as congress is concerned. Congress doesn’t even try to placate people anymore. They don’t even feel the need to act like they read the stuff they vote for. They simply don’t care baceuse they don’t work for us. So yes, he is a corporate lap dog. But he didn’t invent the system, he is just a player.

The only decent interview was the last one by fox where everyone claimed Obama got attacked…

He didn’t get attacked he finally got asked some questions of substance.

Wonder when the other networks or newscasters will ever get the guts to a good interview of the president.

All one has to do is watch the polls to know that the our country does not like what this man is and has done to our country.  When you are constantly seeing that 50% or more in the polls disapprove of the man that is not a good sign for only a year.

Last night I caught a part of the Hannity show where Herman Cane said that those calling people who are not for Obama policy and health care racist, they are the racist ones.  Found that to be an interesting concept…By the way Herman Cane is a black radio commentator.

I don’t really see how the polls even matter as long as we are stuck with this Resident (evil).  Now if really, really low polls meant that we’d fire his a$$ and get him out early, as would happen with most regular folks, in regular jobs, who could not meet the objectives of their assigned duties, then I would care how low he goes.  2012, polls on Obama will matter.  2010?  Not so much.  What does it matter if his approval is at 2%, but we’re too stupid to take any action to relieve him of his duties???

Personally, I have always felt that Obama is mentally unstable.  How do you leave someone in such a high position when his mental capacity is so questionable?  If I personally, could singlehandedly, get him out of the White House, I would do so.  All I know is, this man is either very, very mentally disturbed, or he is very, very evil, but has no quality that equals keeping him on in his position.

I notice now the network that has saturday night live is running a promo for some upcoming “special” show and they keep showing the clip of Tine Fey saying that she can see Russia from her house over and over. Of course that is intentional as a slight against Palin because some people aren’t smart enough to know that Palin never actually said that. It is really an intentional character smear coming from a major network against Palin.

You can get any kind of resultss you want depending on how you ask the questions. That’s basic statistics.

Here’s the good news: the Tea Party movement and other segments of the anti-Obama/ establishment movement are too amophous and loosely affilliated to be easisy categorized. This makes it harder to demonize the Obama opposition.

Like caral haka said, work with your frenemies to stop Obama.

Yes indeed, Docelder.  On one battlefield in this war, it is a contest to see whose ridicule is the funniest.  We’re going to win that battle, even though they’ve got the MSM and we are pretty much limited to the internet.  That Tina Fey clip is one of the few weapons they can deploy.  They’re just not very funny!  And look what we’ve got for material . . .

It would be impossible for Obama’s handlers to script something as complicated as a summit with 47 countries represented. Obama is a big dumb bumbling boob, but when he strictly stays on the script his trainers give him, he almost sounds functional. It’s when he goes off script when the trouble and the laughs begin, and dozens of unscripted meetings with foreign representatives under the scrutiny of the press would be a recipe for disaster, so……..no press.

We get to find out all of the juicy details from the representatives themselves as they depart Obama’s Cirque de So-lame performance, and are eager to tell a curious world how pathetic and psychotic our Feckless Leader is. The press would get a better picture of the events if they were to do some exit polling of the attendees, and intercept them before the bewildered and disappointed summiters can get to some airport dumpsters to dispose of the complimentary Cracker Barrel Cheese Baskets containing hidden microphones.

I blame my misspelling of indoctrination on caffeine deficiency.

Docelder, anyone who would refute that just about all politicians are corporate tools is either naive or ignorant.  Those on the left are also organized labor tools.  Politicians pander to their bases but govern according to the desires of their respective financial patrons.  Nothing new.

People concerned with free speech vis a vis political contributions feel limits impinge on a constitutional right.  So be it — I can appreciate their rationale.  BUT, why can’t there be limits on campaign SPENDING?  I’ve talked to my husband about this and he says it would be hard to verify spending.  I don’t doubt it but at the same time the Obama campaign of 2008 proved contribution limits could be easily skirted.  Surely, campaign media ads, staff salaries, headquarter rents, GOTV expenditures, etc. can be just as quantifiable — if not moreso — than cash intake.  IMO only free speech zealots would feel it impinges on politicians’ constitutional rights if their campaign spending is limited.  I think reasonable spending limits is something worthy of serious consideration.

During the campaign Obobo praised Islam, quoted from the Qur’an, mocked the Bible, admitted he was a Muslim (oops), then retracted and said he was a Christian.

As President Obobo travels to the Middle East, praises Islam, quotes from the Qur’an, and proudly admits he was raised as a Muslim.

He complains that being President is sooo hard, and says it’s hard being the leader of the Free World because everyone expects you to get involved with conflicts around the globe, and that is such a burdon.

So why is this non-believer of the US in it’s highest political post?

The US public isn’t that stupid just too busy, and as a result, gullible.

Realizing that Barry was not up to the task of representing and leading the US would have required a modicum of thinking. And, unfortunately for the large majority of voters, that is what the Press is for.

There’s nothing wrong with that. Who could blame John and Jane for not wanting to think through boring political issues. John and Jane have real lives.

So, either John and Jane voters need to make room for a teeny bit of thinking, or the Press needs to do it’s job.

The diversity of the Tea Party shows that John and Jane Q Public have put on their thinking caps. John and Jane are now leading the non thnking MSM.

IMHO opening Hillary’s and John’s files were merely to cover the reason for getting into BO’s files. And the reason to get to BO’s files? To remove any incriminating evidence. The real question is: Why was the guy associated with the file-gate murdered shortly after?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Ya got that right, NLBB = we all laughed at Bush when he said being the president is “hard work.”  Well, Hillary understood that, and was willing to do the job for the good of the country.  Obama, OTOH, wanted it to play, to show off, to strut, to be the Leader of the Free World, without doing the “hard work.”

Good thing he is so “humble” so that he goes about it without bitching and complaining.  Oh, wait…

  • PortiaElizabeth

Amy — once again you’ve given us all a better insight into the minds of the press. Thank you!  If they’re finally beginning to come to their senses, it’s more likely due to ratings than to any real journalistic integrity. I’ve become very jaded when I read or hear news now. Where I used to absorb everything they put out like some mindless sponge, now I question, I want a corroborating witness, I want a second and third opinion. Two years ago this behavior would’ve seemed paranoid to me. Now it seems common sense.

Yeah, it makes me crazy as well.  I would just love for some reputable reporter, one the others cannot trash, like, say, Jake Tapper, to really investigate Obama, his passports, how he was able to travel to Pakistan when US citizens were not allowed there, what the hell his trasncripts say, all of that.

Oh – the Obamas released their income tax report.  They made over $5.54 million, but only gave away less than $330,000 in donations.

Think all of the Obots are going to scream abt him making so much since they are so INCENSED that Sarah Palin actually gets PAID to work (sexist pigs)???  Yeah, me neither.

Yes–I really do feel sorry for teenagers growing up nowadays; where’s the romantic music?  They don’t even have something like The Beatles.  They actually have rap music at the Prom!  it sure ain’t “Moonglow-Picnic” . . .

    Very very nice, JustMe . . .

  • FLDemFem

She would have nothing to report. At the time that Obama went to Pakistan, Americans were not permitted to travel there, and the US passport would not have been valid. Nor would he have been able to get a visa before leaving the country. When he went to Pakistan, the probable scenario would have been that he went on an Indonesian passport, as an Indonesian citizen. An American citizen probably would not have made it in or out alive at that time. And if he did, he would have been arrested on arrival back in the US.

  • FLDemFem

Make that, “An American citizen, travelling on a US passport, would not….”

  • HC123

You could just get your US passport stamped on a different sheet of paper, much like if you travel to Cuba today, Lebanon before 98, etc.

You cannot fly (or check bags) direct from the US, and the country you are visiting cannot put a permanent stamp in the book.

Lots of Americans do it. Just because the State Dept tells you not to go, doesnt mean you shouldnt, cant or that the country you wish to visit wont let you in the door.

  • sowsear

It has an “oxymoronic” quality to it, does it not?

  • getfitnow

I also heard a clip of David Gergen. He was in Boston. He said everyone was pleasant and orderly and it seemed like a big festival.

  • sowsear

He still has his Blackberry. No recorded calls for him.

  • getfitnow

    And a “peeper.” ;)

  • sowsear

The person who hired the temps who went into the files worked for the Obama campaign.

  • sowsear

No, they had to make it look like an equal-opportunity job.

  • sowsear

Why did the gay choirmaster and some others in Chicago get murdered also?.

  • getfitnow

    Picnic–one of my favorite movies.

Yep, the great composers like Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, Quincy Jones and many more. That kind of composing is so rare.

Setting policy differences aside and mangling the language, it was always clear to me what Bush said and meant. Not so much with the present occupier of our WH.

  • sowsear

What do you mean “We” white man? 8-)

  • oowawa

Well, Confused American, this is a real find!  Never heard it before–Thanks!

  • sowsear

That doesn’t look like you, Arnold.

  • oowawa

Well, helenK & confused American, this is a real find!  Never heard it before–Thanks!

  • sowsear

    They probably “disappeared” it…

  • guest

because it fits with the big conspiracy theory.  lol

  • getfitnow

Aren’t any of them concerned about his disappearance act this weekend? That’s bothersome. The POTUS, somewhere, with/without SS.  And if the Secret Service was there, wouldn’t that draw some attention? don’t they usually have some kind of advance presence before POTUS arrives? It’s hard to believe that POTUS can go anywhere today and a photo doesn’t surface.

  • confused American

Last weekend was very interesting…Surprised that nothing has come up on any media report

  • sowsear

What will we find of BO’s in Sacramento?

  • sowsear

BO says he expects to “be around” to see flight to Mars. Oh?

  • Obamastolemyparty,myboyfriend,mycountryandmyhealthcare

Yes, very true.  I meant out of the office of POTUS, which he never deserved to be handed as he was.  Sad though.  You have to be so careful now.  I used to see horrible things written about Bush and am certain that many, many of those things were ignored by the administration.  This administration will come after you if you hurt POTUS’ feelings!  I do so fear for Glenn Beck’s life sometimes, and Sarah Palins!

  • Obamastolemyparty,myboyfriend,mycountryandmyhealthcare

I’d really like to see BHO in jail, wearing an orange jumpsuit!  MEchelle, too.  I do not believe they were innocent in the operation board games scandal in IL., but I do believe we will probably never get to know for sure.  Another sad fact of life in the lalalooneyliberaland world.

    Maybe an airport?

There are lots of theories going around….I like this one:  he is a member of a muslim terrorist cell….really what did we know about him before he miraculously became a senator?  Should we call him Litte Nikita?  In this day and age, do we really know who we are dealing with….just askin’

Let them choke on this one….

“I can see November from my house!”

  • Babs

Our MSM has a narrative, ingrained in most of them since journalism school, and while it once was only annoying and predictable, it has to me now become almost criminal. The White House press corps, with few exeptions, has become a joke, many of them trading hard hitting journalism for “access” to the inner WH to gather material for the myriad books they will be writing someday. Obama hasn’t held a press conference since last July, where’s the outrage? The MSM gave him a pass when he refused any more debates after Hillary creamed him in Philly, they poo-pooed McCain’s attempts to get him to debate in a series of town hall meetings, all the while enabling him to control the message. He is still controlling the message, most of the press is still enabling and buying into the meme that photo ops and rhetoric make a great leader, and America is still waiting for a return of an honorable fourth estate. I’m not holding my breath….

  • Cindy

Susan B….-that’d make a GREAT bumper sticker!!!

  • ~~JustMe~~

She is sows, she was out with the Tea Party people today!

  • PssttCmere

hmmmmmm…..do you have proof of your wages?  We should believe you…..why?  You support obama?  You must have supported gwb since more and more it appears that gwb is obama’s mentor.  He hasn’t “changed” a G-D thing!!

ty it seems lately you type in a crazy song with the name Obama and someone has done it

  • over it

The press might have flashes of revelations, but when it comes to Obama they will continue to wear their knee pads, no matter how poorly he treats them.

    Don’t get too excited!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

You don’t do Obama any favors, guest, by coming here claiming to support him, and using a homophobic term at the same time.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    Thanks, PE!  I appreciate that!

I completely understand – hard not to be jaded anymore, isn’t it?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks for the snark, ahs.  I had previously fact checked this information when this claim initially arose.  From what was available then, since Pakistan was under martial law, travel was difficult.  More recently, factcheck.org came out with the article from the Times you listed above, though that org. is not without baggage.  Lo and behold, it is a part of the same org. with which Bill Ayers and Obama worked, the Annenberg Foundation.

Just out of curiosity, why is it not possible to get the State Dept. Travel Advisory at the State Dept. site?  All that is available is a crappy copy with handwritten notes on it?  Yeah, okay…

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Didn’t you already post this above?  These two links are there.  Pakistan was under Martial Law in 1981, for starters.  And, I really would like to know why no one can produce a CLEAN copy of that State Dept. Advisory.  Not to be too conspiracy theorish, but really – it seems a bit suspicious that before a few months ago, NONE of that came to light, and now – POOF – here;s the Advisory!  It is not like I didn’t LOOK for info on this before.  I did.  Just curious.
