I believe in the Lockean principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the balancing of Madison-Hamilton ideas in the Constitution. Despite Lincolns’ wonderful Gettysburg address, I don’t believe the government represents us so much as it arranges regulations to facilitate businesses. For the most part, I think that works OK (not well, just OK) but candidates lie about who they represent. Dodd, Obama and other rake in the cash and then talk about reforming regulations to protect the citizens. Would a careful reading of the bill show that it only favors the regulated and not consumers?

The regulators are in bed with the companies, as well as most of our government officials. This is what happens when you’re willing to sell your soul for the all-mighty dollar. Balance and reason and that old-fashion term “honor” go out the window.

Sadly, the whole system is infected. And these financial houses will not be able to keep it under wraps forever. Creative accounting can only hide so much, for so long. The chickens are indeed coming home to roost.
