McCain’s five years in a prison camp show he is a man of principle who loves this country. What qualifies him for the presidency is over two decades in Congress as one of the most effective bipartisan legislators in office. He has made a career of irritating the Bush Republicans and conservative base, yet he managed to unify his party and gain their trust and support. The change that Obama promises in some moments is ethics reform and bipartisan cooperation. McCain already has an impressive record than this, and he is progressive.

Bush and McCain agreed on the Iraq war, but McCain showed superior judgment from the beginning, and I believe his motives were purer. McCain was right about the war in that Saddam Hussein was a dangerous presence in the region who butchered millions of people.

As for Hillary, she seems committed to going on with her work in the Senate, keeping the party unified and endorsing the Democratic nominee. She said she thinks the Obamas are good people. Maybe she’s full of shit. Who knows? It says more about her than Obama. He has made it clear that it’s her job to bring her supporters on board.

She actually loses credibility this way, but 2012 is four years away. I would vote for her then depending on who runs against her. I’m not a diehard fan. I thought she was the best candidate who could have won this year, but the Dems seemed set against it. I knew them changing their minds was a long shot, but I remained hopeful to the end.
