Obama: “Tea Partiers Should Be Thanking Me” UPDATED

Yes, indeed, those were the words that came out of Barack Obama’s mouth last night at a Democratic Fundraiser in Miami, FL. Well, after he said they “amused” him.

They “amuse” him?? Considering the Tea Party movement has higher poll numbers than Obama, their momentum should concern him. But that’s not how The arrogant One rolls, as we know all too well.

So, why did he claim the Tea Partiers should be thanking him instead of taking to the streets? Because all he’s done is be a Giver, people, not a Taker:

Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser tonight, President Obama touted his administration’s tax cuts and said that the recent tea party rallies across the nation have “amused” him.

“You would think they should be saying thank you,” the president said to applause.

Members of the audience shouted, “Thank you.”

Update: Seeing is believing. ~JustMe~ provided the video of Obama’s incredulity that not all were falling down at his feet, prostrating themselves in thanksgiving and sheer wonderment at all Obama has done for them:

Freakin’ ingrates.

Back to his claim of Tax cuts. What tax cuts? Because of the continued extension of Unemployment Benefits, an additional two month extension passed April 15, my family is about $762 lighter in the wallet just for this one program. Let me hasten to add, I know what it is like to be on Unemployment. I lived in MA when the state went through a very difficult economic time. State funded programs were cut drastically, which meant a number of us lost our jobs. So, I have been there, and know firsthand how difficult, how frustrating, how demoralizing it is. But there is no denying that SOMEONE ist paying for these extensions of benefits, and that “Someone” is you and me.

Then there are all of the bailout funds – just who the hell does Obama think is funding these programs, a money tree?

And perhaps it is this kind of cavalier, arrogant, dismissive, belittling comment that led Rep. Paul Ryan to say the following (H/t to Logistics Monster for this video):

So, Mr. Snide President Man, that’s why so many people are upset with you. Because you’re a liar, and even while you are lying to people’s faces, you are putting them down in your usual belittling way. What a uniter, what a healer, what a compassionate man – NOT.

If you would like to see how much your taxes have been “cut” – ahem – in support of this, and other programs, click HERE. It is eye opening.

Oh, and Mr. President? Lose the attitude already. It’s not the least bit presidential, or helpful. Unless you WANT to help yourself lose the next election, then I’m all for it…

  • HARP

Oh….I think you have hit a good one with this Amy

  • ~~JustMe~~

Here is the video that shows “O” on top form!!
    What a sham!

  • Ani

Why on earth does our President always have to be so condescending — this really comes across much like the “bitter clingers” comments he made in SF during the primaries.  Hillary called it correctly in the PA primary when she said people want a president who listens to them, not one who looks down at them.

What I find most troubling when I speak to my Obama supporting friends is that even though they are all disappointed in him, they excuse him by saying no matter who is in there, they would be just as bad — “Oh, they all do that…”

    First of all, poppycock.

Second of all — he had no good record to stand on, precious little experience.  Yet he was elected BECAUSE he was the ONE person who was NOT going to be LIKE THAT.

When I point this out, everyone in the circle falls mute.

    Please forgive the shouting.

  • Moright

He is a very small, small man.

  • Mandelay

Great post and right on the money!  The administration is doing all it can do to make war on the tea party.  They’ve dispatched every media soldier to spread the word that the tea party ranges from “amusing” (this from Barack “We are amused” Obama) … to being dangerous enough to incite violence (very disappointed in Bill Clinton’s remarks).  Shameful attack on the free speech and right to assemble. From two presidents sworn to preserve, protect and defend the constitution.

  • econsmed
  • Freedom Fighter

Ani, look at Bush, he said things like “bring it on!” or ” you are with us or against us!” I think President Obama clearly is more of a uniter than Bush was. It’s just that certain people, like the PUMAs and Tea Partiers don’t want to be united.

  • Docelder

Bush and Obama are the same FF. They have the same boss. It isn’t us.

  • Armymom

He’s a divider. The only thing he is uniting us on, is getting rid of him. He’s doing a bang up job on that. I hope he continues to disrespect the american public, the voters. I hope you do too. It just puts a resolve in me to make sure that people like him and his supporters never ever get close to being elected again. Not even for dog catcher. Keep drinking that kool aid FF. you certainly do not evidently know that this country is more divided than ever.

And Bush never said that to the citizens, but to other countries or terrorists. You can’t go one day without bringing Bush into this. He’s not the president anymore. So grow up and get caught up to date.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Um, FF – Bush was talking to TERRORISTS, not to Americans.  I know, I know – pesky little details…

  • Docelder

I am disappointed with Bill Clinton as well. I had imagined a scenaio where the Clinton’s were above what is happening in this administration. I no longer believe that is a possibility. We the people are on our own right now.

  • Freedom Fighter

I think President Obama meant that people from red states, the typical tea partier, is less educated and make less than those from blue states. His policies have been one of social justice and income equality. So the less educated folks from red states actually benefitted from the tax increases on the rich, essentially meaning they received a tax cut. These uneducated people are known to vote against their economic interests, but President Obama is looking after them anyway. That’s why he is a bit amused by their behaviour.

  • Armymom

Boy for someone who claimed in another thread that you were “up to date” on the news, you sure don’t seem to comprehend much. Polls show that the tea partiers are well educated, unlike you. You truly are an uneducated troll.

  • Armymom

So I guess that would make you one of the ones “who are uneducated but you think Obama is looking out for you”. Now I get it. hahahaha

FF, I was at a Tea Party event and overheard some supporters of the current administration who share many of the sentiments you espouse here on NQ.

We are supporters of free expression and have been thinking of adding some political columnists from differing perspectives other than our generally moderate/centrist tone. Drop us an email if you are interested. It would be a great chance for you to codify your beliefs and share them.

Too many people are afraid of dissent and ideas they disagree with. Its unhealthy.

  • Freedom Fighter

I think the Big Dawg is speaking directly to you PUMAs and Tea Partiers on this one.

  • propertius

God, he is a narcissistic ass, isn’t he.

However: I’d a helluva lot rather see my tax dollars go to extend unemployment than have them go to the compulsive gamblers at Goldman, Sachs who got us into this mess (or to the health insurance companies, either).  The amount of money we’ve spent on helping working people is just chump change compared to the amount we’ve given to the kleptocrats (and I think most of the tea partiers would probably agree with me on that).

Well I will officially say “f**k you Bill Clinton”. You do not speak for me at all anymore.

  • Onofre’s arm

FF, you dumb ass, Bush made those statements about our ENEMIES!!! Obama taunts and mocks the citizens of his adopted country in the most divisive manner possible. It’s bad enough that he has such obvious contempt for this country, but he makes his disgust and racism more manifest daily by intentionally stirring up class and race frictions. And he’s inspired an army of jackasses like you FF to amplify the animosity, and create battle lines where none existed before. God you’re f*cking disgusting!

  • propertius

“[P]eople from red states,,,is less educated? I think you could do with a little more education yourself. By the way, the New York Times seems to disagree with your assessment of the typical tea partier:

“A New York Times/CBS News poll of backers of the emerging Tea Party movement shows that its supporters are more affluent and better educated than the general public.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/04/14/us/politics/20100414-tea-party-poll-graphic.html?ref=politics

  • Jillie

the polls say that tea partiers are older, wealthier, and more educated than the average american.  if you want to spout your talking points, at least make it seem like you are cognizant of the most current information.

  • AC

“This tea party movement can be a healthy thing if they are making us justify every dollar of taxes we raise and every dollar of money we’ve spent,” he said. “But when you get mad, sometimes you end up producing the exact opposite result of what you say you are for.”
    ***********************************************
I don’t see anything wrong with the distinction Clinton drew in that Politico piece.

  • Armymom

I don’t think that people are afraid of dissent and ideas they disagree with. I think it has to be intelligent and FF never seems to have his facts straight. It’s pretty simple really.

Why can’t people just read the words without interpreting them in their own small minds.  Every now and then it’s Bill this Hillary that–Obama’s the one we should be castigating.  He’s not done something (although I’m thinking he will) that will rise to the level of Elliot Richardson and cause Hillary to resign.

  • Claude DiDomenica

The Tea Party folks are Americans exercising their Constitutional right to assemble and express themselves freely — just as the war protesters who were demonized during the last administration were — expressing their heartfelt and cherished beliefs.

IF anyone can find it Mike Wallace on O’reilly tonight said it best  — there are no tax breaks under Obama they are all GW’s
When GWs Tax breaks expire next year Hang on guys.  there are no tax breaks  under Obama
those under  $250 thousand are going to be eating some more taxes Thanks to Obama..

For once Obama didn’t blame GW and It is GWs fault…

Its GWs fault we still have some tax breaks left LOL …
The Tax breaks that are left are GWs… :-D :-D

  • Freedom Fighter

Claude, this is one the reason why I like NQ, it is much more accepting of dissenting ideas than most sites on both the left and right, where dissenting voices are routinely silenced. No one should be afraid of a differing view point, afterall it help you grow and lets you evaluate the strength of your current views.

  • Docelder

Clinton needs to learn to be straight forward. If he can’t say directly what he means without people using a decoder ring, well then he needs to be quiet.

  • AC

Example: I just hit the enter button which, should have placed this sentence below rather than atop the opening to you.
Rev. Amy, Is it my browser or is the comment box acting up?

  • Freedom Fighter

Armymom, I usually link my comments to news sources. Not saying I am always right, but to say I never have my facts straight is simply not true.

  • AC

FF again you’re full of “O” I read that Politico piece and found Clinton’s comments reasonable and not as you describe them!  Grow a brain, learn to read, do something other than shitting on your keyboard.

  • Freedom Fighter

AC, I think it’s clear Bill Clinton is saying that the Tea Party movement could be a good thing, but right now, it is clearly not a good thing. That it has created a boiling point climate similar to the Oklahoma City bombing incident.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

And Ani, GREAT POINTS!!  “Poppycock” indeed!!  :-D

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

AC, this Comment thing seems to have a mind of its own.  Sorry!!

  • Armymom

Exactly what my accountant said, and she is a democrat. I’ll tell you a little story. A year ago, I had an accountant come into our office, a republican, and he said just wait until your taxes go up because of Bush’s taxes will expire. Well, believing what I had heard, that only the rich got the tax breaks, I called my accountant. Her husband and her are democrats and actually headed up my country a few years ago. She checked out quite a few middle income families that she did taxes for and sure enough, they benefited from the tax breaks. Even after her doing our taxes this year, she still says the same thing, taxes will be going up with Obama. Count on it. And no, she did not vote for Obama. Her husband and her both can’t stand him and they both consider theirselves democrats.

  • confused American

    George Soros, perhaps???

  • sandshark222

Wow, that was pretty condescending FF. Do you ever think before you speak?? That was one hell of an arrogant comment.

  • Freedom Fighter

AC, I agree. Bill Clinton is making a lot of sense. He is drawing parallels to Oklahoma City and he is absolutely correct.

From all the news reports of Tea Party hate, threats, and violence, it would be reasonable to think it could be much worse than Oklahoma City.

    http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/04/16/after-the-tea-party-more-extremism-as-gun-rights-activists-hit/

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, Just Me!  This wasn’t out when I originally wrote this.  I’ll add it above now.  Thank you!!

  • Buzzlatte

I saw the video clip and Bill’s words got spun.  His intent was a softball warning to Barky McZero about watching what he says to the American people.  The media spun it to sound like Clinton was scolding the Tea Partiers.

Personally, I don’t think the Clintons will outright defend the Democratic Party.  If anything they’ve walked a rather noncommittal line in order to not create a conflict with Hillary’s SoS.

  • Armymom

What violence from tea partiers? YOu mean the one where Kenneth Gladney was attacked by SEIU thugs? YOu mean the one where SEIU thugs egged the tea party bus? You’re clueless and so was Clinton drawing a parralel to Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City had more to do with Janet Reno and the Branch Dividians. Oh I know, you’re talking about the other Clinton where she said that “dissent was patriotic”.

  • Buzzlatte

Actually that is just your opinion and has little value, FF.  As usual.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I meant to add – this is the second time TONIGHT I have had to defend BUSH!!!  That Obama!!!  Look what he is making me do!!  =-X

  • Armymom

Oh and let’s not forget about the guy who got his finger bit off by someone against the tea partiers. I forgot about him. I’m sure there is more.

  • Buzzlatte

Plus, Bill differentiated between the radicalism of Timothy McVeigh and his pals and the Tea Partiers.  But apparently the media couldn’t keep up or report the truth.

No way did Bill call the Tea Partiers radical disruptive forces.

  • Armymom

    lol RRRA

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Well said, Armymom – we are more than happy to engage in honest dialogue and discussion here, always have been.  But there is a BIG differencebetween real discussion and peopleengaging in baitin, dissembling, and twisting words.  THAT is a whole other kettle of fish.

  • Freedom Fighter

Actually, it’s more than just my opinion. This red state vs blue state argument dates back before the inception of PUMA. So, I am sure it’s a view you are familiar with and endorsed at one time.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

That’s right, Armymom – Bush’s tax cuts expired, and things will be mighty different next year this time, between that, the health care debacle law, possible cap and trade, etc., etc.

  • confused American

PS I have nothing against people with different sexual orientations, in fact one of my children is gay and the love of my life.
I feel that it does not matter what the sexual orientation, race, religion, age  and etc of a person is when being selected for the job.
In the long run it is how they can and do do the job.

  • AC

Buzzlatte, I didn’t see the clip as you but did read the piece and focused on the quotes (his words) I skim spin for I don’t like someone else telling me what something means–that’s why I went to school.  I found his words reasonable and in fact supportive of not only the Tea Partiers specifically but of individuals in general.  Oh well, hobgoblins of little minds and all that….

  • sandshark222

I’m not one to call names, but you’re an arrogant ass, FF. No wonder why you love Obama so much. Elitists stick together. Jumping on any chance to put down working class Americans by calling them stupid or uneducated.

Makes you look like the fool that you are.

  • AC

    Ha!

Ani, you are not alone. The exact words were said to me this morning as I reminded a co-worker that BO was swimming in campaign donations from the golden sack.

This evening I have been hearing the meme that The tea party people are screaming in the wind because, as ”they want thier country back”, it was George Bush in 2000 that “took it”.

    NUTS!

    hmmm

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I was abt to shut down the computer until I saw your “P.S.” comment, CA – I had NO idea abt what it was, so I had to come look!  Can I just say, your child is fortunate indeed to have a parent like you.

Now to the White House outrage. I saw this headline earlier, and was like Scooby Doo, “huh???”  See, this is where the memo that Obama signed last night, being touted for GLBT people (even though it’s for ALL people), for hospital visitation rights shows what a crumb that was to placate us.  When they come out with this kind of outrage that one of their potential candidates has been referred to as “gay” is telling indeed.

Now, if she isn’t, well, then she isn’t, and that should be noted with a correction.  If she IS, why are they freaking out that it has been revealed?  Just asking.

  • Armymom

‘m beginning to think that FF is actually Obama, here’s why: Up in a post he stated that those uneducated vote against their economic interests. And then he posts an article by Ezra Klein. In one of the comments, there is the same idea, almost word for word. Plagarize much?

    @cdosquared5:
It’s true, more AFFLUENT voters tend to trend Republican. However, more EDUCATED voters tend to trend Democrat. You can’t call “poor, uneducated voters” the Democratic constituency, when because the GOP absolutely courts poor, uneducated voters. It’s more a “rural” verus “urban” contest.
The real GOP feat of the last ~40 years has been getting poor, uneducated people to vote against their own economic self interest by exploiting social issues. By sheer numbers, if they only actually expected rich people to vote for them, they’d never win a single election.

  • Buzzlatte

Absolutely.  Clinton did not, I repeat, DID NOT, disparage the Tea Partiers.  He, in Bill fashion, supported their efforts.

Small minds are the paramount problem in WA DC.  All they want to know is where the next cocktail party or fundraiser is being held.

  • confused American

You know who really gives a crap what her sexual orientation, gender, race or ??? is its her judicial background.

If she is gay then they are making matters worse for her…way worse.

The WH is making this an issue when its her Judicial background that should be the issue if she is nominated.

But then the other issue is  — Is the WH stepping on our freedom of speech by shouting down comments in a blog.

  • Buzzlatte

That’s some serious over-reach there.  Does Barky McZero know that you think you can read his mind, FF?

Let’s break it down.  SEVENTEEN new taxes for the middle class take effect for the next tax year.  The only tax breaks Obama has supported are just keeping the Bush taxcuts in place until the end of this year.  THAT’S IT!!!!

Barky could care less about red states vs blue states.  His goal is to take down a whole country. What were his words to the effect….”fundamentally change America.”

  • confused American

Well, you have a point there, propertius!  I would, too – rather help the unemployed than those who are now pulling in mega-bonuses.  That’s the thing – we are spending SO Much money for them even though many of those who benefitted from the bailouts didn’t extend that tot heir customers.  Sheesh.

    Good point!

  • oowawa

That video is not playing for me, confused American.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

You know, CA, this is EXACTLY what they did to those of us who are Hillary supporters.  Obama had his “latte” crowd, and the rest of us were supposed to be these hillbilly yahoos with no formal edumacation (!).

Personally, I have my own espresso machine which I use EVERY day (cappuccinos, not lattes), a graduate degree, and several years of additional post-grad work, two internships, and a residency.  Several of my family members who supported Hillary are PhDs.  Lots of people HERE are very well educated, and even if their education isn’t FORMAL, that doesn’t make their education/experience any less worthy.

All of that is to say, it seems this is their MO – an elitist, classist, arrogant put down of anyone they don’t THINK is just like them.  When they start realizing that, uh, yeah – we’re your next door neighbors, or your bosses, pr your significant other – well, then, they have to take a harder look at THEMSELVES and their own predjudiced misconceptions.

Holy cow, I am so tired – sorry – I’ll stop now so I don’t keep talking!  :)

  • sowsear

    wealthy…someone find my money, quick.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    Yep, you said it, CA!!

Obama has another candidate for a federal judgship, a lifetime appointment, of course, who has NEVER defended a case in court.  He is a prof – that’s all he has ever done.  Maybe jbjd can weigh in here, but personally, I’d like to have a judge who had actually been in a COURTROOM before getting the job…

  • Armymom

I say, keep doing it Obama and people like FF. Everytime you guys disparage the tea partiers, they grow in size. More people get mad at the arrogance of Obama and his supporters. So just keep it going FF, Obama and your ilk, it will energize the people who do work and pay taxes in this country and they will take their country back from Obama, Reid, Pelosi.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    True that, oowawa…

  • sowsear

I don’t think “gay’ is a description you need to consider  when deciding whether or not a person is qualified for a particular position. CBS is slanting the news, as usual

Dang I can’t tell you how many people with BA and Masters I met at the two Tea Party Rallies I went to….

You know all sides are spinning what The Big Dawg said.  I read most of his comments on CNN and then knew instinctively that FOX would spin it their way by not even publishing all of his comments.  I was very disappointed considering that FOX has been one of my primary news sources since May 2008.
    Here’s what FOX left out:
“I’m not interested in gagging anybody. I actually love this political debate,” Clinton said.
“Most of the Tea Party people, though, are explicitly political. You’ve got to give that now,” he said. “Forget about whether we disagree with them or not. It’s really important to be able to criticize your government and criticize elected officials. That doesn’t bother me.
“Most of them have been well within bounds,” Clinton said. “And they’re harsh but limited criticism; in other words, they’re not advocating violence or encouraging other people to do it.
“But I just think that we have to be careful,” the former president added. “We’ve been down this road on more than one occasion before. We don’t want to go down it again.”
He was encouraging the Tea Party to continue to speak out but cautioned that a few extremists might take their message to a dangerous level.  It has happened on both sides.
The Tea Party is gaining legitimacy in the MSM and he is probably bowing to the inevitable.  Of course the haters couldn’t contain themsleves on either side.

I didn’t know what the proper term is for a gay person that supports the GOP, let alone GWB. Maybe they are so rare, no such term exists?

  • Armymom

    Um, an American perhaps.

  • sandshark222

Boy, you sure do like to divide people into groups and stereotypes, don’t you FF. Like I’ve said, you’re an arrogant, condescending, ass.

  • beachnan

Thanks buzz for clarifying what Bill had said.  Too many, are always too quick to find fault with Big Dawg, when what he said was not a put down of the tea partiers.  I would think that Bill would get a kick out of the number of people who can see clearly that Obama is a joke and should have never been supported by the DNC and therefore never elected.

  • Freedom Fighter

Armymom, what would you call those gay folks at Hillbuzz who wrote that embarassing post regarding GWB?

  • propertius

I’d have a lot more faith in WND’s reporting if they could get a simple detail like the  abbreviation for an Army Lieutenant Colonel right. It’s LTC, not Lt Col.

In any event, LTC Larkin (who is, after all, a surgeon) has been assigned to Walter Reed after he failed too report to duty at Fort Campbell. He is currently “under investigation”. Given the severity of the offenses he could be charged with (AWOL, failure to obey order or regulation, possibly mutiny or sedition), I’m not sure I’d gripe to much about him not being charged yet.

Hey Racist FF – Gays that support Bush and the GOP are not Uncle Tom’s, nor are they rare.

They are called LOG CABIN REPUBLICANS. Named after President Lincoln. He was a Republican you know.

And Log Cabin Republicans did not just show up to torture Obots. They have been around since the Seventies which puts them about 25 years older than you.

Read above, they’re Americans. You have heard of the Log Cabin Republicans, The Gay Patriot. Or are you just stuck on the word “gay” so as to try and cause problems. I call them Americans.

I would have appreciated the Paul Ryan tape a lot more if I didn’t have to look at Dick Army over his shoulder.

As for extending unemployment benefits: I feel for anyone who lost a job due to the meltdown however at some point our Keynesian Prez & Congress need to study up on the economic theories of John Maynard Keynes…they might discover that in his theoretical world wages need to drop after the gov “primes the pump”.  If wages don’t drop even Keynes knew his goofy theory falls to dust.

Plus they didn’t really stimulate the economy with that Porkapulluza bill of theirs, they just used big bucks to lay in the groundwork for their leftist agenda.

I’m sorry but Bill Clinton should be ashamed! I really like the man but I’m furious! Bill knows how to speak clearly and should have come down on the side of the American People not the current administration!

    It’s not Bill’s job to save Obama’s as$!

Obama continues to talk in that smarmy condescending way. Remember what Jesse Jackson said when he thought his mike was off. He said that Obama looks down on black people. I doubt he just made that up.

If Obama can do that to a group of people he claims to be solely from while not acknowledging his caucasian roots what chance does any American have?

  • beachnan

He is not knocking the tea partiers.  Why are you knocking Bill, when he is one of first Democrats who has come out and said something favorable about the people protesting this asshat in the Whitehouse?  Give him credit for saying something good about people being able to protest in a civil manner.  I doubt with your statement, that you were ever a supporter of President Clinton.

  • TeakWoodKite

Thank him….does he really believe he is responsible for their right to protest or something??? I could never ever ever picture any “free” world leader saying that about ANY citizens.
WTH??….every week something new comes out.

That video speech of Paul Ryan was just awesome, his love and pride of his nation clearly showed in his voice. It is heartening to know there are some in the halls of power who have the balls to call it like it he did : A permenant socialistic welfare state subsidized by massive taxes and gov’t intervention resulting in a massive decrease of jobs and free business enterprise.
Hmmm who does that sound like? : Oh yea. Cuba.

  • propertius

Well, if your aim was to stimulate demand and jumpstart commerce, you’d probably have gotten a lot more bang for the taxpayers’ buck by increasing and extending unemployment compensation than by handing it over to investment bankers to be used in merger and aquisitions.. We’ve thrown nearly a trillion dollars at the finance houses, and pretty much none of it has made it back into the real economy.

    http://www.econbrowser.com/archives/2008/10/pocketfull_of_m.html
    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2009/03/cbo-on-stimulus-multipliers/1126/

It turns out that the actions that are hardest to get through Congress (or that the Administration flat-out refuses to do) – like direct aid to states, increasing/extending unemployment benefits, or increasing food stamp benefits – are the very ones with the most powerful stimulus effects. But, of course, Congress and the Administration aren’t really interested in the larger economy, are they?

  • AbigailAdams

“Then there are all of the bailout funds – just who the hell does Obama think is funding these programs, a money tree? “

Do you think it’s at all possible that obama, himself, being a junior senator and all believes, just like that woman in Detroit last year, that there really is just a a big “stash” of money somewhere.  Think about it, now, for a second.  Here’s a guy who, until he was paid real money for a book deal (which he seemed to be absent on for a long time) held part-time and project-based work.  As for the rest, who the heck knows who’s been paying his freight.  He might actually be that naive to think that the government is just an endless supply of ready cash, just like that gal in Detroit.  “I don’t know where it comes from!  It’s obama money!  That’s whey we  voted for him! Ha, ha ha!”

And as for you, ”Freedom Fighter”:  You are neither free nor much of a fighter.  You’ve got braces on your brains and reading your comments is like watching this week’s stultifying nonsense on cnn or msnbc.  You are as predictable as a Swiss train and about as entertaining as watching concrete set up.  Yes, just that bad.  It makes me wince to think anyone is truly as gullible as you are.  I do hope you have someone who cares about you to help you through this rough patch, because I sure don’t want to end up footing the bills for your arrested development.

  • Seymour

FF, I’m no Bush fan in the least but your comparison just doesn’t comport. Bush never pitted one constituency vs. another let alone to gain phantom political ground; it was merely Bush vs. the American people and vice versa. Nor do I think as bad as some of Bush’s decisions were there was no malice in his heart for the American people. I think he was genuine but unfortunately an idiot at times. Obama on the other hand has an absolute, unequivocal disdain for over half of American citizens gaining traction by the day. He has a premeditated air about him wherein I simply want to push his face in, nothing personal of course.

RRRA, I don’t actually think they’re all that educated.  I think the bots are mostly college freshman and sophomores, from lower middle class backgrounds, and they act “elite” and arrogant, trying to identify with what they only wish they were.  They have a taste of something better, so the arrogance and put-downs serve to help them feel more removed from what they’re running away from (including the void in themselves).  They don’t even realize that their behavior gives away their sophomoric outlook and lack of class.  They’re just….. bullies.  (not so different from their “leader”…)

But as good old Abe Lincoln (and my Grandma) would say: “you can fool some people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but you can’t fool everyone all of the time!”  Nothing that starts with a ly ends well.
People are seeing him but he thinks he still has his magical clothes on but….We see him!

  • creeper

Okay.  I’ve read the discussion here and watched the video of Clinton speaking.  I got the distinct impression that Clinton believes the obots’ claims of potential violence on the part of the Tea Partiers.  (Notice that he didn’t single out any other specific group.)

Warning of violence can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It’s not what he said at all.  It’s the fact that he said it in the first place.  Shut up, Bill.

  • creeper

AA, I had the same thought when I read “money tree”.  It’s not as outrageous as it sounds.

We have no clue what kind grasp of economics Obama possesses.  We don’t know what economic courses he took in school nor how well he did in them.  From all evidence to date, it’s not his strong suit.

If you put a person in the White House who has no understanding of the basics of economics what you will get is deficits as far as the eye can see.  He doesn’t understand how it works but he’s got the checkbook in hand and can buy more votes just by signing his name.

  • kenoshamarge

The ones that are afraid of dissent and ideas seems to be the party that was supposedly all about “hope and change”.

Once it became obvious that those words were simply campaign rhetoric the party faithful had to either admit they were wrong or become as dishonest as their leadership. It is all too apparent which decision they made.

  • kenoshamarge

I sadly must come to the conclusion that the Clintons have chosen party over country. Bill Clinton has proven to be just another politician. A gifted one but still just a politician. Sad really, because he could have been an elder statesman.

  • kenoshamarge

I don’t have a problem with that either. It’s where he tried to compare the Tea Party to the Oklahoma City bombing. He’s walked it back a bit now, but he did it and I find that repulsive.

  • kenoshamarge

I voted for Bill Clinton twice and voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary. I was disgusted with his inability to keep his damn pants zipped and how he disgraced the high office he held but I voted for him a second time anyway. I was a fan.

But Bill Clinton has knuckled under to the Democratic Party, supports the health bill atrocity, DID try to draw a comparison to the Tea Party People and Oklahoma City and has called the Tea Party People, Tea Baggers, a pejorative I find unforgivable.

I don’t know if Bill Clinton has changed or if he was never the man I thought he was. I suspect the latter.

I don’t worship at the feet of any damn pol and so I try to see all of them clearly. Unlike back in the days when I was just another partisan fool.

lorac, I agree completely!  I meant that the Obots and Co. have tried to frame it first that they were the smart, educated ones, and the Hillary people were a bunch of backwoods hillbillies, and now they (Obots and Co.) are trying to portray Tea Partiers the same way.  It is their arrogant, classist, elitist, holier-than-thou, sanctimonious, smug way of characterizing people who don’t think EXACTLY like they do, or who don’t worship The One.  That’s what I meant!  :)

  • Ferd Berfle

Ani, look at Bush, he said things like “bring it on!” or ” you are with us or against us!” I think President Obama clearly is more of a uniter than Bush was. It’s just that certain people, like the PUMAs and Tea Partiers don’t want to be united.

Let’s not talk evil about “unemployment benefits” – some of us have earned them.  O:-)

I get a whopping total of $417 a week – the maximum I can get even though I paid over $47k in income tax the year before – 2008, and many years prior to that, were somewhat similar.  Most people get around $200 a week.

Even though I was fired last year 1st of March, I still just paid over $14k in income taxes for 2009, and contributed over $1k in SS and Medicare.

Additionally, because I still am paying my mortgage, I pay a little over $1.2k a month in property tax – $650 of which is to the school board – and my son is 30 and went to a private college – USC.

And, the company that fired me, I made millions for them in actual hard dollars selling something that generated a lot of money for the buyer.

Now, I have to study Accounting at 58 years old to get back into the market.

With all the waste, this is the least of which someone should complain about.  No body is getting rich off of unemployment.

Anyone can crush Obama in a debate, especially if they have opposing views and the questions are not prescreened.

During the Obama and Hillary debates Obama pretty much parroted what Hillary said.

Often all he was doing in the debates was putting his stamp of approval on her projects.

If I remember correctly Obama got a lot of thumbs down on the debate outcomes.  Not really sure a debate will prove anything.

I just could not believe my eyes/ears when I saw the PRESIDENT stand up and, with as much condescension as he could muster, attack fellow Americans for engaging in their Constitutional right of free speech!!  Astonishing, isn’t it!

    And thanks!

  • confused American

Bill Clinton and Hillary for some reason have gone over to Obama.
Bill is no longer the fervent  man he once was, especially when he is speaking for Obama or the Democrats.
Did anyone notice the pauses and the almost forced type attitude he said his speech with .
That is not the Bill Clinton that was fervently campaigning for his wife.  That was not the Bill Clinton that said he was going to let go of some junk Jan 2009 which he didn’t.  There were portions of him coming through…but.
It Even seems Hillary has been toned down too.

The two Clintons have been brought off and it was not just with the Secretary of State position…
I believe that the Obama people and DNC used bribery, blackmail and/or some Chicago politics to shut these two up.
Not sure what and not sure why.
Do feel it was that night Obama and Hillary secretly met.  The Clintons were brought and not willingly bought.

  • confused American

Boy you were being kind of nice to Obama and his people  Ladydawenelle….
I think most of it is proveable…that is what is sad…
The media will not stand up to this man —
Where have all the trully investigative reporters of the 60s and 70s and 80s gone….
    When will we ever learn…….
Yes reminds me a bit of the 60s song by Dylan “Where have all the Flowers Gone”
But now its where have all  reporters with spririt and truth within them gone??
Where have all the reporters who believed in reporting the truth no matter what it did to them gone?

  • sowsear

    RRRA, did you see this?
The Obama thingee about gays beings given health rights was not an executive order but a memo, and has no weight in law.

Ani, I give you my permission to shout as much as you want about this!  Thanks for your shouting.  Maybe you cand drown out FF because that dimwit doesn’t get the point.  Many of us did not/do not like Bush and company and would never defend him.  Our point is that O may be even worse than Bush and company.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Hey, Armymom – can you believe this?  It really is shocking.  I don’t recall them going to these lengths with Hasan, abt whom they had NUMEROUS warnings?  Hell, NO!!!  Holy SMOKES.

And I love LM – thanks for the add’l link to her site.  She’s awesome!

  • AC

Good luck getting a reply to that POdVet.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I have a cat who is pretty talkative, and he doesn;t need a teleprompter.  He’s the front one above.  I think he could take Obama, too.

Seriously, I like Paul Ryan.  I think he would being a sense of decorum back to the White House, and a commitment to fiscal responsibility.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Hey, Sowsear – yea, I caught that it was just a memo, not even an Executive Order (abt which I railed with Bush, I might add – now Obama is doing it even more).  It doesn’t apply to VA hospitals, either, and really encompasses a much larger group than the GLBT community.  It was just a crumb he was throwing our way since he STILL has not done anything to abolish DADT…

Like I said the Clintons have been gagged by the DNC, Obama and the Obama Democrats…
For some reason I don’t think these two speaking what they would love to speak out on…
Why….Who knows….Something happened during that private meeting…It quieted Hillary down immediately and when Hillary got he SOS position Bill went quiet…
Someday we will learn, but probably not in the very near future, unless Obama gets exposed by someone with some guts and our country listens..  JMHO

There are any number of historical protests that a Rhodes scholar could have referenced.
Suffragettes, civil rights, and million man marches come to mind.
Why the nexus to Oklahoma City, if not to emphasize radicalism?

  • Sassy

A big, roaring “Thank You” from all 57 states for national unity, uncountable deficits, record unemployment, 3000% reduction in healthcare premiums, distant allies, no new nukes, celestially clean air, and transparency we can see right through!!!!

  • Docelder

And Bill’s “slick willy” speak fits with Napolitano saying we need put equal emphasis on foreign and domestic terrorists. So, dissention is being labeled as radicalism if for no other reason than to squelch free speech. If TEA people are going to be labelled radicals, then some will be fearful to protest. In other words, Tiannanmen square is the new model apparently.

  • cahil

My dear FF, Bush is no longer in office.  As usual you are diverting from the point at hand.  Obama said he was different and above all of this and would not be business as usual — yet we have more back doors deals, no transparency and a continuation of Bush policies.  He is a corporatist.   That’s it.

Obama is a divisive man — his political strategy is to divide and conquer.  Throughout the primary, he made it his business (via Axelrod and co and his own words) to insult and deride anyone who chose not to vote for him.

We want very much to be united but when profligate spending, bailouts of Wall St crooks and not main st., a health care plan that forces 32 million people onto the rolls so we can put more money in the pockets of big insurance and big phrma, a health care plan that charges more to women just for being women in large exchanges, and on and on and on — we feel disenfranchised and ignored.

As I often wrote to the President Bush et al, the president is the president of ALL US citizens, not just the ones who are his sycophants.

    oowawa, technical question please.
Why do my Likes come up as “by you” rather than my moniker, even when I am logged in or load an avatar?

  • ~~JustMe~~

Hey Sassy, I am not the pink bunny  =-O  when you click on like at your end it will show “Liked by you” and your avatar should show in the middle. We see it at our end as “Sassy” But looking at your profile here you have no avatar loaded, just the standard grey head so you need to add you’re graphic again. Occasionally it boots you out and you need to add it again.

  • ~~JustMe~~

    Put it away!!

  • Sassy

Thank you so much JustMe! I thought that might be the case but wasn’t sure!

AA, I believe you are referring to “Obama dollars”?  Ahem.

EXCELLENT points, y’all.  Creeper, you are so right – a BASIC knowledge of economics would have been mighty handy.  And if one doesn’t know anything abt economics, perhaps one can find an economist who has NOT called women stupid.  Just sayin’…

  • Daisy Mae

FF:  Keep it up on Tea Party people, call us waaaaaacists.  I know many disgusted Dims who now are angry that Teh Won Bobo is calling Americans names.  It’s that type of dimwitism that has caused lifelong Dims to become Indies, Repubs.  Good job, keep it up.  Can’t wait for November.  Good job, Amy.

    TY Helenk….
       It does reply…
I have a feeling that if we had the reporters of the 60s, 70s and 80s around Obama would not be our President or made the primaries, Edwards would not have even entered the race, and as for Hillary not really sure(remember white water)….

Pretty pathetic isn’t it? This country is gone with the likes of Obama. I still have to ask, why is all the money being spent, the constant challenges to his records go unheeded if he didn’t have anything to hide. I have to believe that if they are willing to ruin this man, there’s more to Obama’s records than a “little” embarassment of something like grants to a “foreign student”. This only makes me want to know now.

Just for you FF….in case you missed it on the other Thread…

I heard an economist detail how the “tax cut” was a terrible sham pertpetrated on the people.  All we do is borrow more money–and who will be paying that back?

I look at little children and almost want to cry.  They are so innocent–they have no idea what is in store for them.

  • JRD
  • Athena the Warrior

Pay attention & stop re-writing history he said “Bring it on” to the terrorists, NOT to fellow Americans.

BoBo has done one thing right:  Uniting people across this country who put country first and party second!

  • beachnan

AC, I am trying to understand how everyone, knowing how the media likes to spin things, is so willing to jump all over Clinton, when he is making a reasoned comment.  I don’t care how many women Clinton diddled with in the past.  That fact doesn’t affect his presidency.  There were many before and there will be many after, who have had that problem, but again, that doesn’t define whether he or not he was a good President, and as far as I am concerned, he is the best one in my lifetime.  As far as Bill costing us the next election-I call bullshit.  It was Gore not using Bill, when he should have, and it was Gore’s inability to loosen up, and it was the damn Supreme Court and Jeb Bush that gave us Bush.  I will probably vote Republican so that we can try and tie Obama’s hands before he causes anymore damage, but I am definitely not a fan of many of the Republicans we currently have either.  As far as Sarah Palin is con concerned, I admire her, and I do not like the way the media, and the Democrats go after her, but I still don’t know if she is qualified to be either VP or President.

  • beachnan

Docelder, your Republican roots are definitely showing.  I hate the “slick willy” moniker.  It was ridiculous back then and it is ridiculous and condescending now.  Hannity has the tendacy to do the same thing now, Rahm “deadfish” Emanual, is one example.  It takes away from the argument and seems childish-like we are back on the playground calling names.  Bill Clinton was not saying dissention is bad and he didn’t label them radicals-you did.  We need to stay away from these leaps in commentary.

  • beachnan

BTW, is anyone else disgusted with many of the conservative talk show hosts, that constantly tell their listeners when they call in that they are “great Americans”.  Why?  Because they agree with them?  Isn’t the point of America is to believe that we are all “great Americans”, even if we do believe in different ways of doing things , as long as we all want the same thing– to see a “Great America”?

  • FranSC

The only people B0 has united are the far-left luns that represent 30% of voters in this country.  I am neither a PUMA or Tea Partier.  I have been a liberal feminist democrat always…that is, until 2008.

After having a front-row seat to unimagineable primary fraud that   catapulted this most unlikely excuse of a candidate to having the dem nomination lopped on him.  The enabling dem leadership is primarily to blame since B0 didn’t know his a*s from a hole in the ground when it came to this level of politics.  I despise the dem leadership for this unpardonable crime.  I despise B0 for accepting this unearned gift.

    A uniter… I think NOT!!
