Speeches Open Thread! [Update]

How’s that Bill?!?! And what about Joe?

[UPDATE: BILL, you did it. You actually got through it without getting sick. I'm proud of you. You and Hillary have exhibited more class and more loyalty than Obama ever does. I know you did it for Hillary, and we all understand why. We are forever grateful that your demonstration, tonight, of your love and care for her. Thank you.]

  • karen for Clinton

They tore the roof off for BILL, he deserves every drop of love, honor and respect.

    HELL YEAH BIG DAWG!

    • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama seemed upset during Bill’s speech. Why does Michelle hate Democrats? Why is Michelle so vengeful? Why is she so graceless?

      • Francis

        No she did not.

She was smiling and clapping the entire speech. Quit spreading lies. Anybody who watched the speech knows you are lying.

        • imustprotest

NO you’re lying. She scowled during the whole time that Bill was getting his ovation…..for the life of me I can’t figure why they kept cutting to her. It really didn’t look good for the wife of the empty suit know nothing liar oblahma.

          • http://! Clinton Fan

She DID….and you can see it so clearly on the tape!! She looks BULLSHIT.

The DNC has it on their website.

24 minutes and three of it was screaming for Big Dawg at the outset!!!!

        • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

She was glowering. Michelle Obama is the personification of hate. No wonder why she attended Jeremiah Wright’s GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA church. No wonder why she forced the children she claims to love to sit through the vitriol spewed by Jeremiah GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA Wright as he issued death threats from the pulpit he regularly humped. No wonder why MEchelle claimed she never loved her country. MEchelle Obama hates democracy, and she loathes the Clintons. MEchelle Obama is not a Democrat; she can only love herself and her social mobility.

          • http://! Clinton Fan

Not only was she glowering, she was doing that “peanut butter on her front teeth” type movement with the tongue. Even when the camera caught her “smiling,” it was more like teeth BARED, and clearly forced. It also looked like Teresa Heinz was telling her to look more pleasant, or something.

By contrast, Chelsea, Hillary, and especially CHARLIE My MAN! Rangel looked like they’d just come from Happy Hour. They were THRILLED, enjoying the HELL out of the entire spectacle. They all had genuine, ear-to-ear shit-eating GRINS.

It was also clear that the crowd was at full throat when the remarks were generic or Clinton-centric–but when Clinton was forced to say nice things about Obama, it muted, obviously, noticeably.

The DNC has the video up in super-duper high quality. You have to download TWO fucking plug ins

(Side Point: Elitist bastards–they think everyone has the latest equipment? Why didn’t they provide a less fancy option for the poor and elderly? Answer: Fuck the poor and elderly!)

but there’s NO MISTAKING the expressions on people’s faces, and even more so if you use the full screen option. It’s clear as a bell–PAINFULLY clear, in some cases.

This Obama is not going to win in the fall. When his own convention is more enthused about hearing how Biden will carry his ass on the foreign relations front, and expresses it with their frantic, “there MUST be a pony in there somewhere” cheers, than hearing about how Wonderboy’s idiotic “vision” will change America (no doubt for the worse, they’re thinking) it’s over before it starts.

Absent a massive, irreparable fuckup, McCain is going to win this thing. I’m not thrilled about that, but he’s better than the remaining alternative.

I just cannot believe that, once again, the DNC has snatched Defeat from the jaws of Victory–this is getting old. I’d say our business model isn’t working. Time to go back and REVIEW Carter’s election, and Bill’s two. And LEARN from them. This time.

For a CHANGE….that we can actually believe in.

        • Dr. Kate

michelle was furious and ungracious. Franc-ASS, didn’t they teach you about body language and facial expression in school?

The TV kept cutting to her because she cannot acknowledge the successes, grace, wisdom, and dedication of Bill or HRC (which was evident that night, and she shows it. Bill brought the roof down and she was the only ungracious face in the house.

First lady my ass. Conduct unbecoming of a first lady. remember she wanted to scratch bills eyes out….did you notice her sharpening her nails?

She is hateful and until she can grow the hell up and get some class she will NOT ever be an American first lady.

The obamas are players and scammers. they hit a home run with you obots.

Now we will take the democratic party back from the obama “democrats”, or whatever his name is.

          • Ai1een

You’re either born with class or you’re not. Michelle Obama…NOT.

        • TwoTermObama

Francis, I’m pretty sure the condition that many on this blog have is in the same family as congnitive dissonance. That, or just plain old psychosis. Nothing else could explain their interpretation of Michelle’s behavior on live television tonight as anything but positive and gracious. Sheesh, all anyone has to do is look at the videos later.

          Obama/Biden 08

          • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

All one must do is view the scowl on that woman’s face. Not only does she hate AmeriKKKa, if I may quote Reverend GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA Wright; she hates the Clintons. She also hates the Democratic Party, for she believes this is a Michelle convention, not a Democratic Party convention.

            • this is rediculous

Tons of politicians knew and were friendly with Wright. But they did not sit in his church for twenty years or refer to him as their mentor.

I watched President Clinton’s speech on CSpan tonight and Michelle looked Peeved much of the time. She smiled a Couple of times when Bill made favorable comments about her husband. Obviously, You weren’t watching Michelle as closely as CSpan’s cameras were; or you’re as blinded by Michelle as you are of her husband.

            • Tyrione

Most likely they were watching via NBC/MSNBC, ABC, CBS or CNN.

Both Fox News and CSPAN showed the disgust on Michelle’s face.

              Let’s face it.

This couple thinks they are the next Kennedy Family.

The first one came to prowess through Bootlegging and this one through corrupt deals in Chicago.

From this view they both are pond scumb.

            • TeakwoodKite

I got the distinct impression that MO was thinking about the moving “goal posts”. Such a sunny disposition eh?

Her hatred of President Clinton is second to that of Dick Morris.

Must be why he went to Africa for them. They have that in common.

TwoTerm is a troll who keeps changing it’s name. It’s stuck on the “cognitive dissonance” idea. It took a beginning psych class, lol.

Oh yeah, I think it went by “debbie” earlier.

Hill is the epitome of class. Mechelle has no idea what class is, and she is addicted to hate.

        • Helen S

Francis What planet were you watching her from ?
She was NOT smiling and clapping the entire time. “It’s not nice to lie”

        • Rove is Right

d00d this iz a republican website! go away!

        • http://! Clinton Fan

          Stop making things up, Francis.

It makes you look even dumber than you already are.

You’re our pet nitwit here, but try to at least approximate even a halfassed version of your reality when you post.

      • Mandelay

LOL, yes she did seem angry! Perhaps it’s her natural state? Well, one thing is for real, Barack and Michelle Obama would never have had the class to do what Hillary and Bill Clinton did at this convention. Hillary’s speech … Hillary making time to meet her delegates before releasing them, showing her respect for them and their right to make their own choices, and then, stepping up to the plate, surrounded by the amazing talent of the NY delegation as she called for nomination by acclamaton … and then later on, Bill Clinton once again showing how it’s done, how a President commands the stage. I can still hear Michelle Obama saying she would have to think about voting for Hillary Clinton. Both Bill and Hillary, and oh yes, Chelsea, outclassed the Obamas and their surrogates at this convention. Perhaps Michelle seemed angry because she realized, upon seeing and hearing the genuine affection the delegates have for Bill Clinton, that Barack and she are all hype. Maybe the anger is based in envy. I was too sad to watch all of Hillary’s speech last night, but Bill Clinton put me in a better state of mind and helped me straighten out my head, even as he seemed to get inside of Michelle Obama’s head. That said, I still say: Nobama!

    • http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Summer08/BrazileRoveConnect.html YRM

Again with this business about having class… At the risk of going against the grain here, the Clintons were the Roosevelts to me until they crapped out on June 4th and sharted schilling for a corrupt party and petty crook politician. Nobody held a gun to their heads. They were in the perfect position to do the right thing – call for an investigation of voter complaints in the caucuses and dispute the Florida/Michigan raw deal on the floor of the convention. Sen. Clinton had even promised she’d do that.

Now here we have to listen to both of them drone on about Holy Obama…

Remember, we’re the ones that put the Clintons on that stage, not the Obama campaign. Not the DNC. It was our donations. Our blogs. Our volunteer time. And there they both are, helping to cover up an election fraud. Then to reward Obama after flipping her the bird, having Father Pfleger humiliate her with that skit, the misogyny from the surrogates, the criminal media bias, the threats against superdelegates, harassment of supporters, and all other low-life tactics by just handing over the nomination without a fight…

If nothing else, it sets a hell of a precedent for the next woman to run for office. Like that’s ever going to happen.

      • karen for Clinton

I hear you. It will all come out in the wash.

Meanwhile they are just about the only credible pillars of the party that is left. They do what they must do in order to save the very ideals we Democrats and recently ex-dems (like myself – indy after May 31) want in the long run.

I for one want my party back, but I want it back as Bill once said – like a Phoenix rising from fire.

All new and without the likes of Chicago pretenders.

        Capise?

        • TwoTermObama

          Yea, “capise.”

      • wry

YRM – I am crazy about President and Senator Clinton but a small cold honest part of me agrees with you.
I didn’t watch tonight. I couldn’t, although I don’t think they could have fought and taken the nomination, and I believe they are both old enough to know that revenge is a meal best eaten cold.
Still I gave my time and money to Senator Clinton’s campaign…and I HATE to see her and her beautiful husband endorse that thug Obama. So I couldn’t watch. Talk about pearls before swine.

      • Newly Independent

        I can’t blame you YRM.

As much as I LOVE and adore the Clintons and admire them, you make DAMN good points!

      • NoBamaNoWay

look, they did what they had to do, and did it well. i think they know obama’s going to lose, and probably figure it’s best to wait until the dust settles before they start ripping the obamcrats a new one.

      • Hope Floats

Agreed. The Clintons have been talking about Chelsea running. They care about themselves. It was about HRC keeping her job and Bill preserving his legacy. The suspending her campaign was so she could pay off her debt, not fight the party for a floor fight like every other candidate in history. The Clintons were complicit, but it’s up to each supporter to decide for themselves whether that’s acceptable to them. It is a bit melodramatic to say they HAD to do it, though.

      • Keir

        YRM,
Sadly, I agree with your assessment that we have been sold out. All this talk about being a gracious loser is ridiculous. Wonder how much $ was involved.

      • karen for Clinton

Now that is more like it. Hope they have the video tape of that one. Hope that even a cynic like me can believe in.

You know we are still allowed to say HOPE, right?

Sometimes I just don’t want to use that word lately.

      • sherry

        Truer words were never spoken

    • makeji

Bill’s nose had to grow at least an inch during his speech. I never thought I’d leave the room when he was speaking, but it happened tonight. I’m sorry, but it was too much for me. Hillary at least didn’t praise Obama.

I have been crying off and on for two days – grieving for our loss. I just don’t get it. Maybe they just wanted to get it over with and move on. This was a losing battle and sometimes you have to cut your losses. Still, the repetition of that name over and over… Grrr…

Wonder what the Republicans are going to offer up on Friday morning.

      • karen for Clinton

Tears are good – they are there because we are crime victims. I teared up the last two days too.

Those tears wash away the pain.

Hillary is smiling and so is Bill, but he sure wanted the crowd to stop applauding him before all that praise, that he so deserves, got to him.

Bill, who has been through so much in his life, got glassy-eyed and almost lost it.

McCain doesn’t hold a candle to Hillary, but he will surely get my vote. Anybody but barfbag O.

        • Chicago Joe

Yes, I certainly wonder what Friday will hold. Hope (sorry!) springs eternal.

As an aside, Barack showed us at the end there that he might be a decent replacement for Ryan Seacrest. But did you notice that Dukakis joined the long line of shills who could not verbalize any of BHO’s accomplishments.

        • voterinexile

i unexpectedly welled up when Clinton came to the floor and put his name in nomination by “acclamation” – she wall upbeat, a real cheerleader – it crushed me.

tuned out Bill last night too. what is this wave that we all share? like birds on a wire. i couldn’t listen to his exhortations: obama will be a great CIC, and so on. he really laid it on.

bill was lying; at least hillary didn’t lie.

his remarks were curiously code-free too.

          • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

            are you sure?
Bill said “Obama is ready to lead”. yeah, he’s “ready”, he wants it right now. However, the words “able” and “capable” didn’t come up at all.
I’m “Ready” to fly like superman, but I’m not capable of it. I’m READY to win 500 million dollars in the lottery, but I’m not able to (due to the lack of having bought a ticket). I’m READY to do lots of things, that doesn’t mean I’m capable of doing them and especially not capable of doing them well.

Bill is still Big Dawg, but Obama is just a dog!

  • TwoTermObama

Big Dawg on Biden: “He hit it out of the park.”

    • karen for Clinton

      No terms for ob.

Bill is the DEM party, he must say what he has to.

It goes down better with wine.

btw bot, did you hear the intro?

Doesn’t sound like the bill the obots talked about all year.

“Power of our example than by the example of our power” does that sound like somebody who wanted to go to war in Iraq?

I hope he discusses RACE. He has the finest credentials on that subject, despite how you BOTS and the ob campaign smeared him.

    • democracyfirst

And then he said (paraphrasing) Biden makes up for Obama’s total absence of foreign policy experience and common sense.

He gave the Repubs a gift and told us all what we already know – Obama is not qualified.

    • alee21

You are grasping at straws; anybody who is not already in the tank for Obama will know that what Bill is trying to do is to protect his legacy and set the stage for Hillary in 2012. People’s opinions don’t change overnight so despite what Bill Clinton says in public (because that is his job) it is hard to imagine that Obama has done anything to earn Bill Clinton’s respect.

    • democracyfirst

I love listening to the Clintons. They are great.

Everyone must remember to read between the lines. It was easy to do with Hillary’s speech. She never once said Obama was qualified or would be a good POTUS.

Bill’s speech takes hard listening to hear what he was really saying. At first I kept expecting him to say “just kidding”.
But then he said Obama is so unqualified he needs Biden (in so many words).
And his comment about the Repubs saying he was too young and inexperienced when he first ran – he himself has said that he had been a governor and Obama has not led anything (again paraphrasing).

And listen to the way both Clintons compliment McCain. They spoke more highly of him as a person than they did of Obama. They did speak of the differences on the issues – but Bill even limited that to two areas of disagreement.

The Clintons did say we need a D(d)emocratic POTUS – but that is because of issues, not because of Obama. I don’t think they think Obama will make it through the vetting to the election.

And that brings me to the Repubs. I have always been disgusted with their dirty tactics. But now is the time to do what they do so well. They have the facts that we tried so hard to get before the nomination. ‘We ain’t seen nothin yet.’

As far as MO’s sourpuss – I’m pretty sure she’s thinking ‘Why can’t my stupid husband give speeches like that and why doesn’t he know any of the stuff they are talking about?’.

Obama’s speech tomorrow, filled with his uhs and ums and lies and empty rhetoric, will sound like a kindergartener’s ‘what I did on my summer vacation’ speech. I apologize to kindergarteners everywhere for that insult.

So trolls, get a clue. The Clintons know Obama is not POTUS material. They are telling that to those who are willing to listen while pulling the wool over your eyes because you only hear what you want to hear.

PUMAs take heart. It will be okay. The Clintons never give up and we won’t give up. There are a lot of people that cherish democracy and this country. They were fooled twice by Bush. They won’t be fooled a third time by the fool the DNC is trying to shove down our throats.

      • karen for Clinton

Yep, Bill is just “messing with you man” he will say what he really feels when the first bomb drops on that oh so undeserving wanna be president sham.

Waiting on Hill and Bill to coauthor a book on election 08. THAT will surely retire all debt.

They DID deserve the nod, Hillary alone, Bill as first gentleman.

ob and his wifey, not gonna happen.

        • Astra14

I’d buy the book. I already have Hillary’s “It Takes A Village”!

      • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

The really, really sucky part is…
When we need a republican candidate to be the typicical, blood thirsty, do anything politician that will exploit people as needed with no trace of morals, integrity or class, they give us the ONLY republican in the whole damn party that has decent qulities and morals. McCain has to much class, to much integrity to drag obama through teh mud the way she should be.
Instead of a Democratic candidate who has morals, integrity and convictions, we get obama, again, the opposite of what we need. It’s as if the democrat and republican roles have been exchanged this year with the ruthless SOB heading the Dem party and the good, decent candidate running the repug oel
Maybe McCain will really turn the election on its ear and nominate Hillary as VP. Now THAT would cause a serious uproar!!

    • MIDem

      That was a funny one.

    • Hope Floats

Yeah, Needle Park. You guys are on something, if you believe Obama will win. But Biden was probably the best VP he could convince to run with him.

McCain’s ok, unlike obama, but the policies he has to suck up to eliminate the possiblity of gaining my vote. I became a Democrat as a result of Nixon, and republican policies and republicans in general stayed me from going back to republican since. There’s not much to know about obama, because he has flipped and flopped, and generally hidden who he is. Holy crap you’re delusional.

The Republican Party leveraged the Caucuses and Open Primaries to weaken the Democratic Party.

No he said what he had to say. Bill is too intelligent and too much of a Democrat to say anything that could be used to bring him (Bill) and Hillary down. John McCain is “America first”, President Clinton is “Democrats First”, that is why his speech was so spectacular. I will still vote for McCain, not for revenge, but because BO is too much of a showman and has almost no experience (Unless voting present almost 90% of the time in the Illinois Senate is experience).

        Hillary 2012

        • Tyrione

Don’t bother, they don’t care about the facts. JJ Jr, Clyburn, and the Obama camp memo don’t mean a thing to them, because they are like those students during the Culture Revolution in China. They did the same to their own. Just a bunch of power hungry feces.

This was part of the Obama campaign strategy to portray the Clintons as racists. A campaign memo describing their strategy was leaked to the media early in the primaries. • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Problem is we’re never going to be ready for him; for his terrorist buddies; for his muslim brotherhood; for his support of Kenyan thugs; for his complete lack of credentials.

Big Bill fulfilled his duty as senior statesman of the true (racist though he is) Democratic Party. He gave a speech as a former President of the US for his party. That’s all.

Notice how animated (comparatively) MEchille was? Even showed teeth while smiling. She’s going to fantasize tonight.

        • makeji

I have been a registered Democrat since 1968 and except for once, have always voted a straight Democratic ticket. No Republican here. As I wrote earlier, Bill’s nose must have grown an inch during that speech with the lies he told.

They need to play nice with the Dems – although who knows why – so Hillary can win in 2012. Dissing the Big BO/BS won’t allow that to happen.

Still, he really went overboard – so much so, I left the room.

Must agree with the poster who said that both of them spoke more highly of McCain a human being. There are Obamabots, because Obama is a bot.

Have any of you read Isaac Asimov’s “I, Robot?” There is a short story in there about the first black president – he’s a robot. Science Fiction – hah!

        • Steven Mather

Francis is rather simple-minded. He thinks anyone who is not an Obama supporter must be a Republican. Hmm. Are the Nader, McKinney, and Barr supporters who frequent this site Republicans? Are the contributors to Black Agenda Report Republicans? Are the people who do not belong to any party, but think Obama is not qualified to be president Republicans?

McCain will eat Obama bin Biden alive in the debates, and the 527′s will launch a full-scale attack.             Whereto the climber-upward turns his face;
But when he once attains the upmost round,
He then unto the ladder turns his back,
Looks in the clouds, scorning the base degrees

He then unto the ladder turns his back,

Be nice to people you meet on the way up…

              • Tyrione

It goes far beyond that interpretation. For all the climbing up the human ladder of power you may tred you are still at the base when relative to that of the rungs needed to reach the Heavens/Stars, the entire Universe as a whole.

In otherwords, it becomes an absurd process and ultimately leads you to being a husk of a person who still is nothing but a mere singular point compared to the Infinite Space.

The Clintons really came through for the party this week! They will forever get the upmost respect

      • Steven Mather

        Bill was a governor.

Bill did not have his record grossly, artificially-inflated by Emil Jones.

Bill did not commit caucus fraud.

Bill did not use the race card.

Bill did not work against registering the votes of African-Americans by eliminating his African- American Democratic opponents (and their ptetition signing supporters) via petition technicalities.

Bill did not misogynistically marginalize his female opponents by saying “Periodically, when she’s feeling down, she tends to lash out as a way of making herself feel better.”

Bill did not say he would filibuster FISA and then vote for FISA.

Bill did not say the surge would make things worse.

These are just a few of the documented differences between Obama, and his campaign, and Bill Clinton. Bill is faithful to his party, so he does what he must. People of good conscience can respect Hillary and Bill while voting against Barack Obama for the reasons listed above and the many, many more that could and will be listed in the near future.

        • Francis

          Obviously you are a Republican

          • Steven Mather

Francis believes I am a Republican because I can provide good reasons why someone would not want to vote for Obama.

He thinks that because I think Obama should have voted against FISA, as he promised to do, that I am a Republican. The Republicans voted for FISA. Clearly, Francis is logically-challenged.

          • bemused

Francis, you could go to Free Republic or other sites and save yourself a lot of trouble, because they’re all Republicans. You can just shout in caps and get a whole bunch at once.

              • Tyrione

Then join the LP and vote as you choose while saving face.

                • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

                  Tyrione,

I like the LP. I’m right with them on civil rights, domestic spending, and abortion (I’m a pro-choice republican). The thing is, though, they are too soft on defense. I was against the war, but I’m for staying now that we are in. I also think the military should be, well, funded. Libertarians underestimate the danger of a gutted military. Then there are the kooks. I mean, you can’t blame Ron Paul for them being there, but they are there in disproportionately high numbers.

Even so, I might have voted Barr this year, if McCain hadn’t won the republican nomination. I’ve been cheering him on too long to not vote for him now. I just hope he remembers who he is once he’s in office. I hope hope hope he doesn’t swing too far to the right.

When Bill Clinton was too young and inexperienced, he’d already been DA after being a Rhodes scholar. Then he was Governor of Arkansas for 11 1/2 years. Ah, what innocent, halcyon days before 911, when we did not woory about suitcase nukes, a second holocaust against Israel, the threat of world war with China emerging as a superpower and Russia, as well, a third world country with first rate missiles.

Too bad Big Dawg didn’t knock that out of the park.

The Clintons were never all good or all bad. I voted against them both times in the 90s (I was a Dole man in ’96, and Perot in ’92), but I now think Clinton was one of the best presidents of the 20th century. Go figure.

He was great, mainly because he achieved the conservative goals of welfare reform, NAFTA, and balancing the budget…all done with the help of the republican revolution of 1994.

With a democratic congress, however, I’d never want a Clinton (or an Obama) in office. We can’t afford either democrat’s health care plan.

Well, I digress. No one is a meme. People are more complex than that.

        Vote McCain.

        • Tyrione

He worked with Republicans and they came to a compromise for the Country.

Without him as President every damn thing the Republicans would have attempted would have been vetoed and they never held a Super Majority, not to mention that by 1996 they lost quite a bit of that 1994 Republican Revolution.

To help them out they ran him through the ringer so that come 1998 and 2000 the Congressional elections would favor them.

From then on the Neo-con revolution stepped in and turned a well-oiled machine into a broken system, rusted and quickly becoming acidic from all of their evangelical bs.

I don’t believe a year goes by when some well-known, money grubby evangelical preacher confesses his “sins” and get’s replaced with the newer, more pure model.

          • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

Though I agree with you about televangelists, they aren’t exactly politicians. We can’t impeach them like Bill.

Yes, Clinton worked with Republicans, which is why I came to like him so much. He showed that greatness again today. The thing is, neither Hillary nor Obama would work with Republicans this time around because the wouldn’t have too. They’d have a Democratically dominated house and senate.

No, a dem of any kind right now would be too much power in the hands of the left. If this were like 1996, I’d consider a democrat. Not today.

Any one with a half a brain knows that Obama is not ready and can’t be president of USA…. Period.

The DNC brought us all this mess. Hillary and Bill are going through the motions to so the DNC can have their shit ready for the republicans to flush it down the toilet comes Novemeber………….

I just finsihed throwing up. I’m done with this DNC show. Going to shower and waiting to vote against Obama. NObama Ever.

I agree. ABSOLTELY BRILLIANT LINE!! He should’ve added, “For eight years I endured lies and character assassinations by naysayers but prevailed anyway. Barack Obama will, too.”

          • jimbo

The difference of course is that Bill was competent. obama has never shown to be burdened with that particular trait. It doesn’t take any specific character to vote ‘present’. You can bet Bill would have known for what he was voting and why.

        • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

          It was a great line.

      • Steven Mather

Bill had been the governor of Arkansas. Obama has no comparable experience.

We know that in 2004 Obama himself said that he needed to gain experience before he could lead. Soon afterward, he came to think that experience was overrated.

      • Hope Floats

When Bill Clinton was too young and inexperienced, he’d already been DA after being a Rhodes scholar. Then he was Governor of Arkansas for 11 1/2 years. Ah, what innocent, halcyon days before 911, when we did not woory about suitcase nukes, a second holocaust against Israel, the threat of world war with China emerging as a superpower and Russia, as well, a third world country with first rate missiles.

I love Bill Clinton. What a generous man to speak so highly of such a dipshit as BO.

Just as Hillary’s speech isn’t going to convince us to vote for BO, Bill’s won’t either.

We know he’s saying what he has to say. He has to support BO, we don’t.

Why is everybody calling Bill a liar?

            • Obama-Biden08

That’s what you get if you don’t hurl an insult at Michelle Obama.

              • Axelrod is a Nazi

What about the insults you trolls said about Hillary. Now you want the Clinton’s to deliver your boy to the Presidency. How utterly pathetic!

You hate them, but now you you love them!

                You trolls make me vomit!

                • imustprotest

You’re right. Like their cult leader ….users. The vile, disgusting language I’ve had to endure during these months. The filth hurled against Mrs. Clinton by these very same thugs who come here now.. You’re all as disgusting as the head Thug Barry. The good news is he’s tanking and he’s gonna lose big time in NOvember.

                    Yep!

Just look at the new (and some old) influx of troll scum on here with sudden new praise for the Clintons. Months ago they called the Clintons everything but children of God.

                • Ash

The projection is amazing, really. The most rare of beasts is the “Obamabot” who said that Hillary would make a bad President. See any of Thom Hartmann’s shows from February through May: we thought that Hillary would make a good President, but for the most part thought Obama would make a great one. I was happy for the huge number of good choices I made.

Hillary made some mistakes, and I’ll admit that I was harsher on her than I would have been on Obama for those same ones. But so it goes when you’re supporting a political candidate, and even more so when you’re supporting a candidate who agrees with his opponent on most of the issues.

The major difference is this: I’d put America ahead of my petty grievances against Hillary Clinton in a heartbeat. The only thing I’ve wanted out of this entire election season is for someone who could clean up the mess that our weird little emperor has left.

I happen to think that Barack Obama was the best choice for that task. You all disagree. But I don’t believe the Republic can survive four more years of Reagan/Bush/Bush/McCain.

So here’s my question: why are you so eager to throw your country under the bus to avoid supporting Obama? Sen. Clinton doesn’t want that. President Clinton doesn’t want that. Why do you?

                  • Steven Mather

Please visit Cannonfire. Hundreds of different Obamabot comments against Hillary and nonObama supporters have been compiled there.

As to why many people are not supporting Obama, read the posts and read our comments. I’ve listed a small sample in my post that preceded yours, for example.

                  • trails

Please share your political philosophy with us. I’m dying to know which of Obama’s accomplishments and positions you adhere to.

Personally, I can’t figure out what position he holds on any issue. And I won’t vote for someone whom I feel I know not at all. The man terrifies me with his asking us to elect him president without giving us any idea of who he really is.

Plus, right or wrong, I’ll never forgive him for knocking out the only chance I’ll have in my lifetime to see a woman elected president. That cut a whole in my heart that won’t heal.

                  • TeakwoodKite

                    avoid supporting Obama ???

Avoid is the wrong word. NOT is.

        • Hope Floats

That makes three times. Stuck on stupid?

      • Carol

They may have said he was too young and inexperienced, but he had already been in public service as Governor of Arkansas and he had worked all his young adult life in public service. Good grief, he was a Rhodes Scholar. BO worked his way up the political ladder by stepping on other people’s toes. Look at how he made into the Illinois Senate, that is not a pretty picture. Voting Present on bills in the Illinois Senate is a great big copout. By the way, how many careers did BO walk away from so that he could be where he is today. In my State’s voters pamphlet, he states that he walked away from a career on Wall Street. Huh, I thought He went directly from law school to a professorship and working with the underpriviledged in Chicago (which is admirable).

  • Hmmmmmm

Bill CLinton said that Barack Obama hit it out of the park on the first major decision by selecting Joe Biden. I can’t stop laughing.

They can forgive Joe Biden Offensive remarks on race. But Bill innocent comments during the primaries is still an outrage many of those hypocrits sitting in the audience.

This is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.

They like to blame Hurricane Katrina on Bush. But the people of Louisiana knows it was a democrat governor and mayor who let those buses sat there empty. And that’s why they got a new governor and legislature in 2006.

Bush approval ratings in LA is the highest in the nation.

Obama will lose in a KAtrina style disaster.

In comparison to that anorexic slut Cindy McCain, Michelle looks like a real woman.

That statement is just as bad as the crap posted about Michelle on this site. So knock it off.

I detest the crude statements about Hillary as much as the ones about Michelle, and Cindy.

        • vinnie

I agree. I really could care less about Meeeechelle. and what she’s wearing.

          • Monet

Clothes tell a lot about a person, especially their attitude and who they think they are.

The bodice of Michelle’s dress reminds me of the jeweled collars that the Tudor royalty would wear. The necklaces or jeweled collars wouldn’t hang suspended from the neck but lay mid shoulder and then fall beneath the collar. For an example of what the rosettes on her dress remind me of click on jeweled collars at: http://www.sapphireandsage.com

Her dress to me is screaming “I’m royalty! I’m better than you! You better treat me like the queen I am!” The dress she wore on Monday night had a strange ornament thingy on the bodice too. It ruined that dress and now there’s tonight’s choice.

It’s like Senator Obama has told Michelle they have to look like “plain folk” and to leave her jewelry back in Chicago. So she’s compensating with rosettes to feel royal. If I were in charge of dressing the “royal” Obamas, I would have sent Michelle back to her hotel room to cut the rosettes off and put a strand of Barbara Bush pearls on.

        • PS

anorexic slut Cindy McCain…..I detest the crude statements about Hillary as much as the ones about Michelle, and Cindy.

Let’s stop the comments about the women, okay? It wasn’t right when people were discussing Hillary’s looks and it isn’t right dissing Michelle’s or Cindy’s. That’s just as misogynistic as anything Keith Olbermann said.

I agree 100% but no one on this blog said a think when crude things were said repeatedly about Michelle. The same things were said on right wind blogs who denegrated Hillary.

It was only after I posted the Cindy McCain post did people here get upset about it. It was the only way I could see to get this crap to stop.

        • Hope Floats

Why is Cindy McCain a slut? I’ve never heard she was promiscuous, but a woman with a very full life who devotes much of it to charity. She’s in Georgia right now helping the victims of the recent Russian aggression rebuild their homes and treat the injured.

          • Joy

Saying Cindy is a slut for cheating with John McCain while John’s wife was ill makes as much sense as saying despicable things about Hillary and Michelle such as the comments that Obama threw his wife under the bus so Rezko could do it doggy style with Michelle to get the house. And don’t forget the Hillary Nut Crackers.

My problem was no one seemed upset by the crude attacks on Mitchell until an attack was made on Cindy

            • Hope Floats

You can say whatever you like about Michelle, and I could give a flying f*ck. Downthread, I have a whole list of reasons not to like her that have nothing to do with her sexuality. But she and her husband used right wing smears and sexism against a Democrat and a woman running on a national ticket for the first time in 24 years. You won’t find many fans here.

            • Hope Floats

Oh, and five years of separation is grounds for divorce, cancer, car crash or whatever. Carol Shepp cheated on her first husband with McCain, and he adopted her two sons from that marriage. She was a “slut,” too. Most Americans, since the divorce rate is over 50%, are “sluts.” Bitch.

Oh and have you read up on that whole 38th parallel thingy yet?

          • Hope Floats

For the record, Cindy McCain was addicted to pain medication prescribed to her after back surgery. It was the same time as Keating Five. Within two years, her family intervened, and she went into a hospital. She’s been clean ever since. Wow, Joy, your name was an ironic choice.

            • Joy

That’s correct but she also stole drugs from her charity. This goes to show she’s a human who struggled but went for help and got her life together. That is something to be proud of and thankful for.

However day in and day out people on this blog call Michelle Obama vile names and insinuated she’s a whore. I wondered how these people would feel if someone posted the facts about the wife of there candidate.

              • Hope Floats

Yeah, that would be to show she’s a human being who struggled, but you would have to then point out that she got it together. You just slandered a good person, because you felt it would make a point, or so you say. I have nothing nice to say about either of the Obamas, nor will I ever. Michelle has nothing on Cindy McCain.

              • John House

FACT: MEchelle O said that she would have to “think about” supporting Hillary if she’d won the nomination.

FACT: MEchelle was making a DIRECT reference to Hillary’s personal problems with Bill when she made the “if you can’t take care of your own house…” comment.

FACT: MEchelle said that this is the first time she was proud of her country–TWICE.

FACT: MEchelle said that she’d like to claw Bill Clinton’s eyes out, as reported by the UK press.

FACT: She constantly derides Barack as wimpy in her “fun” little interviews (like on The View).

I’d say those facts do indeed make that woman a stone cold BITCH.

  • Tyrione

President Clinton: The reason the too young and inexperienced mudslinging didn’t work against you, and you know this but cannot state it at the DNC, is that you had 12 years running the state of Arkansas.

She also smiled when she sat in the pews of Trinity and forced her children to listen to Reverend Wright DAMN America on Sundays. This is a woman who is indignant, and she intends to make everyone suffer if she and her babies’ daddy manage to stage a coup and enter the White House.

      • Ash

So you weren’t watching President Clinton give his speech, then. Figures.

I’ll tell you that of my skills (and I have actually quite a few) my best is that of an actor. I’ve been classically trained by teachers from London and New York.

You see, the skill of an actor is to take the cues of the words, and apply them to create a character that makes sense. Now, this site, applying the words as they are written leaves me with the sense of a completely deranged Hillary supporter. Someone who believes with all their might that Hillary is the only person in the entire world who has even the slightest spark of good in them. Now this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Even some of the front page folk are backing away from their support of Sen. McCain (Fascist, AZ). And these are people who have a legitimate reason for supporting McCain, that being that it gains them readership. Look at Sean Hannity. He used to be nothing more than a glorified news reader. He’d regurgitate the day’s Republican talking points, and that was it. Then he realized that the more outrageous he got, the more people paid attention to him. And now he’s a full-fledged lunatic.

And he’s a full-fledged lunatic in the same way that many on this site are. Now, since none on this site are making millions of dollars as a result of their lunacy, I am forced to put two and two together and come up with the result of MOST OF YOU ARE REPUBLICANS TRYING TO STIR UP SHIT.

This has been today’s edition of Inside the Actor’s Studio. Come back next week when I explain exactly why John McCain is George W. Bush only older and crazier.

        • Hope Floats

You sure you aren’t Joe Biden? I’ve never seen so much shit come out of someone’s mouth so quickly.

  • karen for Clinton

What burns my Puma ass is the way they knocked this man down. The man that did so much for me in my life, the only President of my long life that made me able to buy a home and put my daughter through school and the man who cleaned the very air I breathe and he was the man that restored my faith in my party, albeit temporarily.

sigh. That man deserved every single drop of love he got from that crowd.

    • StrawberrybitesBarky

Karen, I can’t agree more. All day on the MSM, all I heard was that Bill was a liability but tonight he raised the roof. Fuck the MSM. The thinking people know exactly what and who Bill is. The greatest American president in the last 40 years. I adore him more everyday. And Hillary would have been an even better prez.

  • Katmoon

Just heard Big Dog,it was simply nice to hear him . Not going to vote for O, but still love watching that man speak.

  • Yo

I am so disappointed in both the Clintons. I am sitting here just crying and cyring and I made my husband turn off the TV during Bill’s speech. I would rather he didn’t speak at all at the convention than lie for that bastard.

I have NEVER hated a man more than I hate Oblahblah and I will do everything in my power to make sure he loses. I’m going to work my heart out and volunteer for McCain’s campaign. I will never vote for that sleazebag that thinks he’s a god and an emperor.

    • Diana L. C.

But keep in mind that the applause they got made clear to the DNC that they are powerful. They gave the words the idiots may have wanted to hear, but what a lot of people were hearing was the real affection and admiration the crowd has for them. And don’t think the O’s didn’t notice. It was their mindles sheep who heard only the words.

      • Hope Floats

        That’s somewhat encouraging. Thank you.

    • gumdart

He’s not lying _for_ that bastard, he’s lying _about_ that bastard, and he’s doing it _for_you_. Don’t give up on Bill!

The Clintons make a difference in people’s lives because they care about making a difference. They are excellent politicians. (I grew up in Arkansas under them – they have done so much for my family and me through their policies — in fact my Mom yelled to him in a parade to run for president about a decade before he did — yet my parents occasionally got pissed at Bill when he couldn’t stick to their ideals – but those compromises are necessary for politicians to actually get stuff done.)

If they had left any opening for anyone to say they caused BO’s downfall, they would have seriously reduced Hillary’s chances of ever being president. I know that’s stupid, but you know people’d say it. If Hillary’s chances of ever being president were reduced by such stupidity, we would all suffer in the long run.

Bill is just doing what must be done so they can keep making the differences they make in our lives. Thank God they can recognize that now is not the time to speak freely! Resistance to fascism isn’t easy . . . and it’s often wisest to work in the shadows . . .

Have faith . . . BO will fall, the Clintons will be magnanimous party leaders as always, there for the Dems to fall back on, and that fool will be safely removed from positions of power . . .

      • Axelrod is a Nazi

God Hear you! The Clinton’s… the only true Democrats who care about the working poor and the middle class.

        Love them always!

      • Tyrione

Hell, if anyone needs a clearer example of Bill speaking on behalf of his legacy and the once proud Democratic Republic was when he allowed Carter to be spoken in the same sentence as himself.

Carter and GW Bush represent the worst of both parties which currently occupy a Duopoly.

Founding Father James Madison [Father of the US Constitution] forewarned the day that the Republic is run by TWO PARTIES.

Founding Father Jefferson spoke of the necessity of trimming the Tree of Liberty for the sheer health of it.

Clinton is showing what True Diplomacy is and what it is not.

He also targeted specifically the Republican Party and kept his dignity by not spitting on Senator McCain.

Trust me: McCain will work diligently with Hillary. They actually like each other’s company and can dispense with party crap.

        Both also can’t stomach Barack.

The other best part of this Convention was NOT HAVING OBAMA PRESENT.

  • Reality Check

Did you guys listen to his speech? Just take a deep breath. Neither Clinton is merely “going through the motions.”

“Barack Obama is on the right side of history.” – That’s not a tepid endorsement. That’s full-throated support of Barack Obama. The primaries are over. Obama is the Democratic nominee. If you’re a Democrat, or support Democratic issues, you should vote for Obama.

Hell, I’m not even a Democrat and I’m advocating for Obama. You people who claim to have spent years or your whole lives in the party should know better. Don’t let your frenzy cloud your judgment.

    • Katmoon

It was ominous and frightening. How did she get my phone number? By the thugs raiding Sinclair’s website and that of others. They got my last name and its the only one in the book. I have since obtained an unlisted number. Fuck every damn one of them. I’m still getting emails scores of emails. What shits!

        • Kal

And when the obamabloggers have come out, they have never had anything persuasive or useful to say about BO — it has always been jeers, lies, intimidation, bullying, abusive language. I know for a fact that BO has not been unaware of the depth of the nastiness they has been circulated in his name, and I will never forget how he played to that with the finger, the dusting his shoulders off, his own jeers about ‘a regular Annie Oakley.’

Even when he was campaigning at his hardest, Clinton never engaged in those kinds of low mean personal politics. BO just does not hold a candle to either Clinton as a human being, let alone as a politician.

    • bert

    • Steven Mather

“frenzy.” What a standard misogynist Obamabot trope. To an Obot, if you don’t support Obama, you cannot be logical.

The lack of appreciation for the diversity of thought among Obama supporters is startling. Reasonable people know that reasonable people can disagree. Complex questions can have many diverse, equally good responses, depending upon what counts as significant. Obama supporters, like the binarybots (good/evil, racist/pro-Obama, anti-woman/proObama, anti-anything good/proObama)that have visited here yesterday and today are stock examples of indoctrinated people. All views other than theirs are wrong and/or bad.

      Sodomite?

What the hell does anal and oral sex, between consenting adults, have to do with his being flawed?

Now the rest I can see your frustrations, but please tell whomever you sleep with that you can’t stomach any form of sodomy and don’t expect your sex life to ever be worth more than a birthing session.

PLEASE: Leave the sex slinging to yourselves. People of all sexual orientations perform and have the right to perform sex amongst consenting adults they way they so choose.

It weakens your view by mocking one of the most common actions during sexual union.

      • Hope Floats

Well Mr. Bill that was pretty cool. You laid out a picture of OB that he will have to live up to now. That was masterful use of language to put OB square in the middle of a terrible pickle. What you challenged him to he will NEVER be able to achieve. I am in awe of your intelligence and your speech writers hit a home run. I am just so friggin impressed with that speech. Obama cannot get this job done and you proved it tonight. Thanks!

    • Objective analysis

      Agree. Suttle hints

      1. With Biden you hit a home run. Have you seen the polls lately? No bump actually lost.

      2. Inexperienced and young and was elected in 1992.

Correction: Obama has not held any executive position which Clinton did like Bush as Governor of Arkansas for 12 years. Obama was a state senator and voted present 130x’s and was not even in the federal senate, but campaigning for president.

      3. Did you see the American Flags? Thank God for Bill Clinton.

There are no flags on the DNC convention at all and Obama won’t have flags at all but a Greek palace to speak to 75K people.

      4. McCain was not demoralized but uplifted as an American hero who loved his country? Obama… No.

Smart people use signals for voters to understand that Obama ain’t qualified to do shit.

    • http://medusa2.wordpress.com Medusa

Both Clintons did that, chris. I keep thinking of Hillary’s speech. They both basically said “let BO inherit the friggin mess that Bush is leaving behind.”

And notice that Bill and so many other big donor Dems are leaving tonight. They are not showing up to see spuds-for-brains pretend that he’s a Roman Emperor.

      • http://chriss chris

Your are correct. Hillary did a masterful job of throwing all the onus on OB to deliver the goods knowing that he can’t. He’s standing on a house of cards and they will soon fall. The Clinton’s know where they stand and how strong they are. He hasn’t got a chance to come close to them, or to succeed in this election and they gave all of us that message, while giving damning praise to the ONE. Checkmate, and bye bye OB.

Saying every vile, misogynistic thing you want about Michelle Obama = OK.

Pointing out that the freepers used to – and still do – say the same exact things about Hillary Clinton = NOT OK

You must be proud, you must be proud.

      Inappropriate content?

Because I find it utterly despicable — not to mention the height of hyopcrisy — that this thread is nothing but a Michelle trash fest, using the SAME TYPE OF ATTACKS USED AGAINST HILLARY FOR 16 YEARS –

      That’s inappropriate?

Just trying to learn the rules, Susan…

Is there a list somewhere that I can refer to so in the future, I’ll know when it’s OK to sound like a raving sexist caveman?

I get that it’s OK when used against Michelle… Are there any other exceptions?

See, I was under this impression that misogyny was a bad thing in and of itself – something we should all be striving to eliminate, regardlesss of who we support or even who we ‘hate’.

I had no idea it was a perfectly fine thing so long as it used against the ‘right’ person.

          • jimbo

Thoughts on a little project: Let’s all write John McCain, who can appeal to a lot more disaffected Democrats by making some plank changes, keeping in mind that repuglies always vote for the person thrust on them (think the idiot bush), so will vote McCain regardless. Hey John McCain, promise you will appoint judges that represent all Americans, not the jerkoffs the now screw over America. Work hard to promote alternative fuels, and go after the fisa criminals, put them in prison where they belong. Stop the offshore oil drilling scam, and work for the immigrants who have given so much for our country, who have had to endure so much lately just for republican political advantage. There is so much you can do to win over true Democrats that will be very good for America. Then more Democrats who recognise what a fraud obama is will vote for you. Oh, and one more thing. Tell Rush, Rove and all the other pieces of shit like them to shove it, that you represent all Americans. If you do this, you’ll be a shoo in. Thanks for listening.

            • JML

Actually, the Republican Platform Committee was working on the “plank” today. CSPAN-2 was running it. I dunno. I watched for a little bit. They were arguing whether or not they wanted to eliminate the Department of Education.

              I’m not kidding.

          • Ohio Bill

            You didn’t get the memo?

These people here don’t really care about misogyny or any other womens rights or other causes Sen. Clinton advocated. Claiming to care about those things just gave them social cover for their true racist views.

Just read any thread here and read the dog whistle racist key words used over and over. I just come because it’s fun to watch them. Now they claim that despite what the Clintons have said they can ~read their mind~ and know they really didn’t mean what they said.

So in their estimation either the Clinton support Obama or are lying, which is it?

            • imustprotest

You don’t know what you’re talking about. If you want to find racist comments you will because that’s all you got. The race card has been played so much people are numb to it. So get over it, own your crappy candidate and lose without me idiot.

If Obama’s campaign, and its unofficial surrogates, had not used the race card, while also pouring on the sexism, then we would only see the ugliness used by a few. The Obama campaign won by using a scorched earth policy and the ugliness you decry is the result of their actions.

Proverbs 11:29 comes to mind. The Obama section wanted to reconfigure the membership of the Democratic house. In doing so, they troubled the house. The house is falling. The wind is the inheritance.

          Michelle Obama is a bitch.

          (1) Word used to describe the act of whining excessively.

She never has enough. Gimme some of your pie. Jimmy Choo boots. $600 earrings. Rezko mansion. Hospital salary tripled from husband’s earmarks his first year in the Senate. Meanwhile, poor people are shunted off to inferior clinics. Never proud of her country till her husband was crowned the Next Big Thing.

          (2) Modern-day servant; A person who performs tasks for another, usually degrading in status.

She thinks the only woman who should be in the White House should be the maid, and that includes the First Lady which she sees as a servile position. “If you can’t keep your own house in order, you can’t be in the White House.” Guess it was Hillary’s fault Bill cheated on her, huh? Yeah, we’ve always been on the same team, you fk-trons.

          (3) A woman that doesn’t give a flying f*ck anymore and that can and will be cruel to men.

MO has all kinds of loving names for her husband like “stinky.” I love that story she tells about how her racist friends gushed about Obama before they met. “You mean he’s black AND has a job?”

          (4) A woman who would say things that if she were a man, she would be confronted or assaulted. (using her position as a woman as a shield)

Lay off my wife. Nuff said.

          (5) A woman with a bad attitude.

I’m a troll and even I had to LOL at that one. I think Pelosi is boring as watching a plant grow, too, btw. That said, Obama/Biden 08

  • SJ

Forget the troll listening to the Clinton’s that is one tall order of shit that Obama will have to achieve and get serious we all know he cant do it, he is by no way ready seems to me pointing out what Obama needs to do sure have me asking can he really.

    • old91A10

That’s one way to look at it. But, recognize that the words did not come out of his mouth, and now he can weave empty rhetoric around the notions. So, he always enjoys instant deniability, and we already know not to trust anything he actually says.

    • BettsAZ

Obama will have his teleprompter to deliver us from evil.

  • aw

I am so disappointed in both the Clintons. I am sitting here just crying and cyring and I made my husband turn off the TV during Bill’s speech.

    It’ll be okay sweetie!

  • mrduffin

Obama is on his own now and he does not have what it takes to be president. No matter what anyone says about Obama he is still the same Obama he was before they said it. He is a Chicago crook who has some people fooled. Thank goodness he has not fooled us all. I look forward to seeing BO true self be exposed over the next few weeks.

  • jjran

I Love Bill Clinton. The man did more for USA then all presidents combined. I just love watching him speak. But there is no way in hell I’m voting for Obama, that faithless fraud lying piece of shit.

  • Anon 1

OBama is proud of his uncle from his Mother side but hides his brother in a hut in Kenya. WHat a fraud.

    • Hope Floats

Do you mean creepy Uncle Frank on his mother’s side? According to that child rapist’s autobiography, he and his first wife banged Obama’s mom when she was 13 YO. Then he’d come over and lay Scrabble with Grandpa, and when he got blazed (weed) Obama was alone with that pedophile. Good old Uncle Frank.

  • bill

This is our great opportunity to let the DNC know that they can not push an unqualified candidate upon the American public and it is a shame that we must lose this election to their ignorance. You would think that we had more intelligence leading our party, but obviously this has not been the case. You can not underestimate the intelligence and patriotism of citizens to see the truth and to vote for that truth. God help us. We must now put up with 4 more years of the Bush administration, with the bloodshed of our brothers and fathers and sons in order to call up our own courage enough to speak up for that truth and to vote for that truth in 2012.

  • Monet

Who gave Kerry the lobotomy? His speech is absolutely ridiculous. It might beat that Grecian thingy for the outstanding ridiculousness award of the week.

It’s sad to see the Democrat party come to this. Anymore of this nonsense and it’s going to be easier to find an Edsel in November than a Democrat.

    • nickoury

      Ugh, fire bad.

    • bert

That’s an insult to the Edsel.

  • SJ

To me what I got from the Clintons is a laundry list of what an Obama administration should do for the people.

The more I run over these two speeches the only thing I come up with is he cannot deliver, he just does not know how to. I don’t know if that was the plan by Bill and Hillary but it sure got me asking that question if Obama can do all that.

I personally do not think he can, and that lead right back to what Mc Cain is saying Obama is just not ready to lead.

  • tj

Does anyone ever have a problem hearing the theme song to Bob the Builder when you see Barack….

BOB the builder… yes we can!!

Maybe this is where he got his slogan. Do you think Bob could sue BO for a copyright violation.

Poor Poor Bob! He shouldn’t stand for this. It’s a terrible attack on his image. I will never be able to watch that show without an image of BO invading my head. Hate it for the kids.

    • Liz B

Yes, I made that connection, too. it’s a shame, too, cuz my kids really like that little guy Bob.

I wonder if BO thought to borrow any other Nickelodeon cartoon songs like maybe: “We can do anything, that we wanna do”

  • citizenMcCain

“Barack Obama will lead us away from division and fear of the last eight years back to unity and hope. If, like me, you still believe America must always be a place called Hope, then join Hillary, Chelsea and me in making Senator Barack Obama the next President of the United States.”

    -BILL CLINTON

    • Liz B

If you still believe in a place called Hope.

I’ll interpert for all you Obots…Bill Clinton was from Hope, Arkansas. 16 years ago, when he ran for President he said he was for change and hope, in fact he even came from there; and thus, he believed in a place called Hope. it was truly symbolic and inspiring and unfortunately BO and his advisors decided to use it for the Great Impostor. He isn’t Camelot, he isn’t Hope and he is definitrly no FDR either. He is a chameleon who changes colors (personas) whenever he needs to.

      • http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/080820_NBC-WSJ_Released.pdf trixta

Yeah, BO is like the character in ZELIG (Woody Allen’s film by the same name) who morphs into different people according to the situation. He has no identity!

    • Nicole

Bill’s so funny when he’s being ironic.

      • Hope Floats

I got sad when they played Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow, because that’s exactly what I’m going to do for another four years. The country will be fine under McCain, but the Clintons would have been fun. Two for one again, and all that brilliance, experience and energy. “Yesterday’s gone.”

    Several Things.

1.Was WJC speaking extemporaneously, or using a visual device?

    I’m illiterate about these things.

And Michelle Obama did stand and clap 3 0r 4 times. Not a bad reaction, at all, IMHO.

The only shit I saw was when Clyburn did not shake Clinton’s hand at the end, when he had the chance.

Just a race baiting piece of shit, by the looks of it.

    That was one helluva stemwinder.

I’d really appreciate folks input on question 1.

    • tj

Michelle did not really clap. She gave the GOLF clap. It was respectful yet still said she was not to excited about the villian Bill on her hubbys stage.

      • Hope Floats

She also held her hands up in front of her face while she was clapping.

    • tj

I think he had a telepromter , but he does not really seem to need one. I saw him here in my state and he did not use one. I could be wrong though its just a guess. A good orator should be able to give a speech without one… unless they have no idea what they are speaking about, or had no participation in creating it.

    • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Bill does not need a teleprompter. Remember when he was giving one of his State of the Union speeches and the teleprompter stopped running? He continued on without skipping a beat. He’s a guy who lived and owns his material.

      • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Other clue…Rove on Fox said he knew from an insider that Bill had been told what to talk about and was being allowed 10 minutes. Good Grief! The applause took almost that long. He was on for about 1/2 hour and spoke briefly on a whole range of issues.

    • http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/080820_NBC-WSJ_Released.pdf trixta

Bill is famous for not keeping to a script and for not relying on a telepromter. He’s a gifted speaker, what can I say?

Did they put her in restraints? She has threatened to tear Bill’s eyes out. I hope the Secret Service has investigated her. They should also investigate her for attending a GOD DAMN AMERICA church in inner city Chicago. MEchelle should also apologize for claiming she loves her children after she forced them to attend a church wherein the pastor issues death threats while humping the altar. How can one love their children after forcing them to listen to Reverend Jeremiah GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA Wright?

  • Anon12

I loved Bill’s speech. For my money, he’s still our party’s best speaker, and I say that as an Obama supporter since the primaries. His pacing is just excellent, and he really plays the crowd’s reactions perfectly.

Probably the best line for me was the one about how Republicans called him unprepared and too inexperienced to lead back in ’92, and that direct comparison to Obama. It’s a great point, and really reinforces what I’ve always felt about this whole electoral process–qualifications don’t matter, personal characteristics hardly do, it’s the policies that count. Clinton in ’92 had the relief Americans needed, and he demonstrated that he understood their problems and that he had solutions. Obama is doing that now, and he’s drawing the contrast with McCain very effectively. The comparison makes me more confident than ever that Barack Obama will be our next President.

    • standard

Yeah, Obama is the next Clinton for sure. If Clinton had gone through the primaries with the lies and smears Obama got away with, he would not have been a candidate.

  • Fandango13

    PUMA Never Obama.

  • Thinker

I was thinking about two-term President Bill Clinton and Hillary. I was thinking about why they are now doing what they are doing.

They are the victims of the race-card. Plain and simple.

If they did not endorse Obama/Soetoro, they would have been branded racists for a lifetime. They would have been called the White people who stopped a Black man from being President.

I know so many Black people in my own family who keep saying, “It’s a Black man’s turn now.”

They don’t care if he had to cheat to get it. Everytime I try to talk to them about voting fraud or about Obama’s shady actions, they tell me they don’t want to hear it, or White people have done things in the past, so who cares.

I don’t want Bill and Hillary to have to deal with those labels.

We will watch how the Obama campaign gets demolished by the GOP camp, and those same people I know who supported Obama will beg to have Hillary back.

    • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

If McCain wins, the dems will run someone entirely different (neither Clinton nor Obama) in 2012. The last thing they’ll want is another race full of vitriol.

      • Katmoon

        Buzz word for the”season”.

      • Thinker

The vitriol came from Obama and Axelrod.

If McCain wins, Hillary will run in 2012.

She will have 18 million waiting for her.

        • Obama-Biden08

According to you folks, one cannot win the Presidency without the ‘other’ 18 million.

So I guess we’re both screwed then?

          I guess we’ll go first.

          • PewL

Wherever the vitriol “came from” (I don’t really care which side gets the blame — I’m voting McCain) neither Obama nor Clinton will be allowed to bring it back in 2012.

      • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

If we do not desire vitriol, then we should banish Michelle Obama from the party. As a result of Michelle Obama’s poor judgment, we were introduced to Reverend Jeremiah GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA Wright. As a result of Michelle Obama’s hatred of AmeriKKKA, Democrats are once again considered unpatriotic. As a result of Michelle Obama’s Princeton thesis, her husband’s campaign regularly exploited the race card. As a result of Michelle Obama, everyone believes Bill Clinton is a racist.

God Damn Michelle Obama for destroying the Democratic Party.

      • John House

There wouldn’t BE another race full of vitriol unless Oblahma came back and tried to spoil it again for Clinton (oh, I would love to see THAT happen). McCain would likely accept his fate (didn’t he say he only wanted one term anyway?), and accept that it was the Clinton people who put him in there and then it’d be the Clinton people to take it back for Hillary.

    • No for O

WE are all victims of the race card. I for one am disgusted and appalled that this is what all of this finally boils down to. No experience. Country be damned, the DNC is going to make history by propping a biracial man for the highest office in the land. A man who has served a whopping 143 days as a junior senator. Country before party.

    • Liz B

      Thinker,
I agree with your post 100%. The Clinton’s were the victims of a well maneuvered political ploy meant to pre-empt the normal opposition that one would have in a Primary, by being tagged racists at the first possible chance. The plan was most likely to slander Bill as soon as possible by accusing him of being racist and to effectively remove him from what the Obama knew he could do best, which is talk to the people and get votes, and unfortunately they purposely planted seeds of doubt in the minds of African Americans, in a man that they had had a genuine relationship with. Bill Clinton was the only President in U.S. History (besides Lincoln) who ever gave a damn about Blacks in America. It wasn’t a fake relationship either. Bill and Hillary worked together, early in their marriage, in the south (Texas and Arkansas) to register Black voters and help to get folks to the polls to vote (and it wasn’t even voting for them). Obama and Axelrod, Brazille, Dean and Pelosi stole that from Black America, and they stole it from Bill Clinton, and for that they should all be deeply ashamed. They say all is fair in love and war, but this election has hurt me deeply. For the first time in my adult life I have Not been proud to be an American, and I don’t like it one bit. My party gutted its finest leaders for some unknown reason, and they have used the youth of our country and the African Americans to do it with. Two groups that didn’t want to be cynical, who wanted to be a significant part of the process. Thanks DNC for severing us into warring factions and for hurting us all. We Clinton supporters already recognize what has happened, everyone else will learn the truth very soon. You guys suck!

      • Joy

I know LBJ is reviled for Viet Nam but he got passed Civil Rights legislation that would have been impossible for an East Coast President.

Before that Truman integrated the military and Jimmy Carter does care. So forgive me if I don’t buy Clinton as the only one except Lincoln who cared about black people. And don’t forget Lincoln’s plan to ship the slaves back to Africa.

  • B

Bill Clinton was most definitely a great President, and the last President that will be elected from the Democratic Party until they remember what democracy really is.

Didn’t I hear Bill say something about Obama when he makes pledge of Allegiance to the constitution…lol

    • Gianni

We all know that Dick Morris despises Senator Clinton and was a relentless attack dog against her during the entire campaign, almost as bad in many ways as Maureen Dowd. Yet, on FoxNews one evening, when asked by another commentator whether Bill or Hillary Clinton are racists, Morris said something illuminating. He said something to the effect that, you can accuse the Clintons of a lot of things, but there is not one racist bone in Bill or Hillary Clinton. Playing the race card against these two especially is perhaps the most despicable dirty trick pulled against any politician, and Morris knows a thing or two about dirty tricks. Among all the crap pulled by Obama, his supporters, and the media, their crossing the line with calling the Clintons racist was the last straw for me. I can NEVER forgive Obama and his supporters, NEVER! This the cutting point for me, and presumably for a lot of other people out there. They simply went beyond the pale. There is no kissing and making up.

We will come back perhaps if and when the party has been cleansed of the filth and stink that is Obama and his minions.

Outstanding speech by Bill. I would almost consider voting for the messiah if I didn’t know better. Best job I have seen by anyone to vote for Obama. Blows away Michelle, Hillary and Obama himself. Too bad I am still not voting for him. But I commend Bill on a job well done!

PRESIDENT Bill Clinton does indeed deserve an Oscar tonight! How he was able to keep a straight face I don’t know.

BOTH the Clintons, in their speeches, talked SPECIFICS about history, governing, policy, people, Democratic Values, republican failures, EVERYTHING – and as I sat in my living room listening to Bill all I could think was “even if he’s bothering to listen to this speech, barack obama doesn’t understand half of what the former President is saying!”

And then there’s MEEECHELLE – she wasn’t even listening to what Bill said – well, she must have been half listening so she could plaster on a phony smile when she heard her name – but how could she hear anything over the constant screaming in her own head?

    • Monet

Last night Michelle looked quite put out that she had to sit there and listen to Senator Clinton. She just couldn’t quite get that fake smile on.

I was giving her the benefit of the doubt, that things she had said or done were taken out of context and exaggerated. But now I’m starting to dislike her too, she didn’t attempt to hide her loathing for Senator Clinton.

  • Monet

I get the feeling by Saturday morning Senator Obama will have dipped to 40% or lower in the polls.

At least watching his campaign read “Ten Easy Steps to Losing a Sure Thing Election” this fall should keep us amused. The laughter should be a good trade off for having to vote for a Republican for president.

And who suggested Michelle Obama wear that dress?

    • bert

I am not watching the convention. But you and several others have piqued my curiosity about that dress. I think I am going to have to turn on TV just to see this thing.

Actually the shape and color of the dress were beautiful and looked wonderful of Michelle Obama. It was the rosettes with the glittery gold centers that circled the bodice that were the bad choice. Were they left over from a 1988 prom dress? Queen Elizabeth I’s coronation gown?

There was a point in Bill’s speech when he said that Obama would uphold the Constitution of the U.S.

I took that to be ominous. It leaves the Clinton’s an out if the thug Obama is faced with a judicial decision that disqualifies him as a candidate. This could get very interesting. The Clinton’s are experts at planning and a Machiavellian maneuver may be in the works. Stand by.

    • Clara Barton

I thought something was up with this second reference to the Constitution he’s made in a matter of a few weeks.

yes, and he said “there are a few twists and turns yet”……and many months earlier, “the outcome of this election is going to be very interesting…”

Very interesting observation. Not generally something that is brought up in these types of settings.

      Hmmm. I wonder?

  • MJ

Yes, Bill was very clever to add in the line that people said he was too young and inexperienced during his first run for President.

On the surface, sounds like it reinforces the case for Obama. But look at the line in reality and it’s easy to see that the line is meant to highlight the reality that Obama is no where near qualified for this nomination.

After all, Bill had the executive experience of a two term governor, along with over a decade of political experience when he was pegged as “too young and inexperienced”. If he was “too young and inexperienced” given all those years, there is no logic in believing that Obama, who has NO executive experience and NOT EVEN ONE full term working on the national level, has the qualifications to become President of the United States.

In any other venue of life, a person with so little experience for the position wouldn’t even be considered. It would be like supporting a first year teacher to be Secretary of Education. Or perhaps suggesting the promotion of a recent boot camp graduate to the rank of General. There’s no logic or reason in that, just as there’s no logic or reason behind supporting Obama to be the President of the United States.

    • Thinker

I agree. Bill mentioning how the Republicans SAID he was inexperienced was very clever.

Anyone could clearly see that he was experienced.

The same can’t be said of Obama.

      Well done Bill.

Can someone please explain to me why are all the talking heads asking if the Clinton’s made the case for Bambi? On the drive home, everyone kept insisting that they had to be out on the road everyday for this rookie. I know he gets tired and needs a vacation every 3 months, but what about them?

    • VMorris

As far as I am concerned, Hillary and Bill did all they should be expected to do, which is to gracefully hand off the torch to Obama and Biden and hope that those two can hang on to it.

The ball is now squarely in Obambi’s and Joey’s court. They are the ones who must take McCain to task and dismantle his candidacy.

If they fail to leverage the boost they just received from the only 2-term democratic president in my lifetime and from Senator Clinton, then O’Barky does not deserve to win.

Bill Clinton may be many things but stupid isn’t one of them. He’s nobody’s scapegoat especially someone like the empty crap candidate BO. He knows what’s coming and he’ll be damned if he’s taking the blame, he played it perfectly, saying BO’s name at the beginning of every sentence, making it seem like he really, really, really supported the lying fraud BO. And of course we are seeing how ignorant the One’s followers are right in the above comments. Clinton did this for the country believe it or not so when the s**t hits the fan the voters will see how they’ve been screwed and never let this happen again.

    • ming_the_merciless

Hillary Clinton told you something, as plainly as she could possibly say it. So did Bill. He just told you the same thing.

Apparently you need Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, or Bill Kristol to interpret it for you.

      • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

I am just following Michelle Obama’s instructions by deciding to consider her husband’s “tone,” his “policies,” his “approach.”

  • ming_the_merciless

I watched Hannity talking to Michael Dukakis a while ago. You’ve really got to hand it to Hannity. Just when you think he couldn’t possibly be a bigger jackass, the guy out-jackasses himself.

I’ve been flipping back and forth between CNN and FOX all evening. FOX is essentially cutting away from any important convention content they don’t absolutely have to show, using the time to spin what they do show with their own bullshit interpretations. They didn’t even bother to cover the John Kerry speech.

    • HARP

    • Liz B

Jackass? I loved it, and he was enjoying himself so much. He asked Michael Dukakis what he felt were the qualifications of Barack Obama that make him such a competent candidate? Sean can’t help it if Dukakis didn’t have an answer…BTW, he asked the same question of all his guests and no one has been able to cite one thing that would qualify him to be POTUS. No doubt Sean will do the same tomorrow night and there will still be no answers! Plus we will have all borne witness to the Greek arena and the ridiculous spectacle the Democrats have decided to turn the Acceptance Speech into.

    • PewL

John Kerry is not worth listening to.. I’d rather listen to Sean Hannity or Bill Oreilly…They have more sense.

  • KarenG

Rumor……there is a rumor that was mentioned on CNN that McCain may chose Christine Todd Whitman as his running mate. I could go there, what about you all?

Anything Palin’s done in her woman scorned (sister-in-law scorned, actually) hooey PALES in comparison to the bullshit Caligubama has pulled. Plus Palin effectively granted same-sex benefits in her state, so she’s more gay-friendly than Obama could ever hope to be (what with his friends Donnie McClurkin and Mary Mary, and his refusal to get his picture taken with the STRAIGHT “Gay Marriage Mayor” of San Francisco).

    • mimi

I can’t believe the Conservatives will be happy with her.

I believe she wrote a book about taking that Republican Party back from the neo-cons. I believe she’s a moderate. I would be excited about her being on the McCain ticket!

(I may have her confused with someone else though.)

      • Astra14

No you’re right! Bush did undercut her when she was with the EPA.

  • DisenfranchisedVoter

Y’all, if McCain chooses a woman as his running mate Obama will not only lose but he will lose by a LANDSLIDE. Clintonistas will flock to McCain. Hell, I know a male Hillary supporter who said that he would vote for McCain if he chose a woman and didn’t treat her like sh*t the way the Democratic Party treated Hillary.

I’m kinda hoping McCain’s VP pick is a woman because it would bring a ton more excitement to the election and the Obamabots will go bat sh*t crazy figuring out what to do next.

And the Dukakis interview tonight shows the gullibity of the followers. He was going on & on about the One’s experience & accomplishments in the Illinois senate. Wrong.

    From NASA sat pics:

Katrina was undergoing rapid development — it had just been upgraded to a Category 3 hurricane, and within 24 hours it would reach Category 5. Hurricane Katrina is one of the most powerful and destructive storms on record for the Atlantic Basin.

Bill Clinton’s speech this evening, like Hillary’s, was brilliantly executed. These two are the real deal and true champions. Too bad Howard Dean took it upon himself as chairperson of the DNC to summarily discredit President Clinton’s two terms of prosperity and peace for our nation. In an interview earlier today, Dean had the audactity to say (paraphrased) that the past 30 years have been about hate filled politics. According to Dean, “The One” is going to change all of that.

No power in hell or on earth could compel me to vote for the fraud that Dean and the DNC are trying to ram down our throats. As for the roll call vote, what a dog and pony show. How about a real roll call where one candidate isn’t forced to release her delegates in advance?

I really don’t care about a person’s sexual preference, but the Greek theme is suspiciously pointing to a gay subtext here. (Greek culture allowed for male to male relationships, etc.) I mean, why Greek? Why not an all American theme?

Fodder for the Right, to be sure!

  • Mike

Obama appeared only this evening to explain why the convention is moving to the football field to the Messiah theme.

  • Dean

Boy do we have trolls on here tonight. PUMA’s are PUMA’S!!! Go somewhere else and spill your BS!!

    • Mr Flibbilism

We’d go to the Huffington Post… But we do already.

      But then so do you?

Shame you get so drowned out by the moderate voice that nobody hears you! Behold while I cry a thousand crocodile tears for you…

  • Angelita

Could this Democratic Convention be any more boring? I bet the Republicans will upstage the Dems next week, and probably have a surprise that will knock the socks off the Dems.

  • texaslatina

expuma and ohio bill are one and the same but, he doesn’t have the balls to say he is. get THE HELL OUT! i am sick of you obama cocroaches. don’t yall have anything better to do than troll hillary supporter’s websites? yall are pathetic!

  • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

The only way Clinton could be the nominee in 2012 is if the 18 million Obama voters were big enough to put their party above their candidate. Do you think Obama voters are that gracious?

    • PewL

Obama really thinks alot of the Clinton’,imo He doesn’t think the 18 million votes was worth giving Clinton the VP nod,It looks to me like she wasn’t worth it.imo…..Obama going down in November. He has no respect for woman and men in this great country.imo..

He deserves to lose to Mccain,

      Mccain is safe,and well known

      • http://icowrich.livejournal.com Rico

I agree about McCain, at any rate. What do think would happen if McCain chooses a woman for his VP? If he stayed a one termer that’d mean you’d have a female VP running for president in 2012.

Would that energize more Hillary fans for McCain?

        • LogicallySpeaking

          I don’t think so.

          • LogicallySpeaking

But then again, that is a far way off and speculation. If it helps McCain to secure the nomination now, then maybe a woman VP is the answer.

            • LogicallySpeaking

              nomination = presidency.

  • Tyrione

No. But with all the fresh haircuts and locals being given tickets to the event anyone can fill a stadium, but take care to make sure everyone looks clean cut and hint at prosperity.

    Image is everything.

  • Mr Flibbilism

    Obama is a thug… he’s bi-sexual

Strange, last time I checked it was the repressed republican congressmen that had a problem with switching teams while married… Not the democrats!

  • texaslatina

expuma and ohio bill are one and the same but, he doesn’t have the balls to say he is. get THE HELL OUT! i am sick of you obama cocroaches. don’t yall have anything better to do than troll hillary supporter’s websites? yall are pathetic! go to your own loser osama hussein websites! ge the hell out!!

    • Mr Flibbilism

      Noooooo you did it wrong!

You forget to mention how Hillary and Bill gave you super secret signs during their speeches to indicate they supported Obama and not McCain.

      Because even though Hillary wanted:

      1) Universal health care (or the nearest possible)
      2) Equal rights for repressed minorities (be they women, black women, black men, or one legged Hispanic lesbians)
      3) Economic focus above terror based warmongering

And Obama presents the best chance of achieving these over McCain… You still want to vote for McCain, please explain why?

      • vinnie

wow, you’re all over the post tonight…is there a special software Soetoro’s camp gave you to keep track of the number of posts or do you have to put down a tick mark on a pad of paper so that you can get paid? just wondering.

        • Mr Flibbilism

I think this is my 4th post on the thread tonight…

Hardly seems excessive considering the length of this thread and that the last time I posted was about 2 months ago?

I think (from your comment about software) you may consider I’m posting under multiple identities (I’m not). Last time I posted my name was Mr Flibberly (I used my real email addresses both times) I posted on two threads (never swore, never used sexist or racist language just had a discussion and was banned – which considering that it’s Larry’s site and what he says goes I’m not going to argue about).

Make of that what you will.

You still want to vote for McCain, please explain why?

        Do the research.

ok Was it my imagination or did Biden LIE HIS ASS OFF about Barack Obamas accomplishments including his reaching across the aisle to work with McCain?

My Mouth hit the floor when he started talking about his great community organizer work and blah blahh to the work in the senate.

My thoughts exactly. Someone needs to check out the veracity of those “accomplishements” — health care for 150,000 and (what else)?

  • obama is toast

Obama made a big mistake when he used the race card against Bill and Hillary. By association he tagged every Hillary supporter as racist. It will come back to haunt him in the general election, he needed every Democratic vote and as you can see here and in every blog he is not going to get it. His numbers with married women are below 40%, a death sentence electorally. One can argue it was the only way to get the nomination, but if that was the case he could have lost gracefully and lived to fight another day. If he loses this election he won’t be nominated again.

    • http://! Clinton Fan

I agree with you. If he hadn’t cheated, and gone for compromise instead of confrontation, he’d be the VP nominee, and, assuming eight years of peace and prosperity, win in a walk in 2016. He’d be able to make history–TWICE.

But the audacity of arrogance got in his way.

      Oh well. It happens!

And now America has to “make do” with McCain. And that craven legislature on the Hill is going to actually have to WORK for a change.

  • Andy

Has anyone noticed that Mrs Obama ONLY stood up to clap when Bill mentioned “Barack Obama”. But not on any other lines about the economy and America’s standing for example when the people did stand up …

    Oh well…

  • PewL

Why would Hillary Clinton be doing a radio show on Saturday, about Bush? Shouldn’t Obama be doing the radio show address?

  • usaproud

Bill also lied when he said Obama cared about the troops…Obama plans to disarm the military..probably to make it easier for the USA to be taken over by his Muslim terrorist friends

    • http://! Clinton Fan

      That’s an idiotic remark.

On too many levels to even discuss.

You plainly don’t understand Obama’s real agenda–he’ll use the military as much as Bush did, if not more.

He voted FOR FISA, after all. He voted to CONTINUE to fund the war. He provided a huge earmark to GENERAL DYNAMICS.

Look beyond the surface image. This guy is GW Bush in a brown wrapper.

  • VMorris

Thanks to the DNC…my dreams as a woman in this country died today. August 27, 2008…This day will go down in history that the Democrats gave women the heave ho.

    My advice to John McCain:

Offer Hillary your Vice Presidency. Of course, she will turn you down.

Then, name the very successful retired CEO of eBAy, Meg Whitman, as your running mate.

You may claim you don’t believe in equal pay for women, but you pay women on your staff better than Barack Obama pays his women. To me, actions speak louder than words, and Obama is full of words. Barack can only handle another man as his running mate. He has a father fetish and obviously has issues of Freudian proportions with “typical white women.”

By choosing Meg, McCain proves his manhood isn’t threatened by a strong woman, not to mention, Meg is a more successful business woman than Romney was a business man, and she doesn’t require magic underwear.

McCain tackles the security…Meg tackles the economy

If McCain goes this route, Obama/Biden can bite me.

    • http://! Clinton Fan

McCain doesn’t need “CEO” backup and no one knows who the fuck Meg Whitman is. All he has to do is put a well respected, always right, high viz economist on his team and that solves that problem.

If he picks a woman VP, it’s probably going to be Kay Bailey “Bad Wigs” Hutchison.

He’ll probably pick someone who can help him take a battleground state, and who won’t hurt him in other states. I am hoping it is NOT Romney, because that dickhead is insufferable, and WILL hurt him.

      • VMorris

OK. At least we agree that not Romney and perhaps a woman is the way to go.

But, I know who the fuck Meg Whiman is…so literally, it is not fair to say know one knows who she is.

        I am no one.

        • a_slight_hitch

the funny thing about that comment is that if mccain does pick romney, you will all be falling over yourselves to say what a great choice it was and how it guarantees a mccain victory in november…much in the same way that just prior to the biden pick you were all saying what a stand up guy he is, but as soon as he was picked you began ripping him to shreds.

continually changing your outlook to match events is, quite simply, insanity.

but reading through these posts it’s pretty easy to tell that 90% of the folks here are shitbird crazy.

      • ziggy

The problem is, where is McCain going to find a competent economist who also endorses his republican economic policy. Any competent economist will see republican economic policy as the problem.

What’s he’s actually in the market for is a credible snake-oil salesman, who hasn’t already ripped people off or run a business into the ground.

        • roseeriter

Ziggy- How do you justify the absolute vulgar waste of money for O-hole’s coronation and the failing of democracy, first by Bush/repugs and now by the hypocritical Dem party? Do you have any idea how many meals the so called- dem party for the people by the people could have given to poor people this week? How much more proof do you need that the DEM Corporate owned party is EXACTLY like the Corporate owned Bush/Repug party?

Democracy is not SELECTION and ACCLAMATION for either party.

NOBAMA EVER -The PHONY Candidate for PROP UP PUPPET POSITION by the FRAUDULENT DEM PARTY run by PEOPLE who hate America and democracy.

      • Joy

Clinton Fanatic, problem is McCain can’t stand Kay Bailey Hutchison. They don’t play nice nice together. And I think as many people know who Meg Whitman is as do Kay Bailey Hutchison (outside of Texas.)

  • ziggy

John McCain’s basic problem is that he’s unable to separate his own policies from Bush policies. His voting record–95% in agreement with Bush policy–clearly establishes that relationship. Instead of moving away from that association, his recent position changes have only moved him closer. The McCain Tax Cut Plan, for example, is the Bush Tax Cut Plan, only worse. In a time of soaring federal deficits and serious economic distress for mainstream voters, it worsens the deficits and gives enormous tax advantages to the rich while the middle class and working people get little or nothing. Once people get that, McCain is going to be in serious trouble–and, unfortunatley for John McCain, it isn’t that difficult a thing to explain.

I expect Obama and Biden will focus their speeches and ads on bringing that simple reality to the attention of the American people. He’s a wealthy man who favors the wealthy as the rest of us sink into deepening economic difficulties.

He can only counter that by changing his position–which I can’t imagine him doing–or by relying on an increasingly negative messages to try to make people fearful of Barack Obama. Whatever people here might think, I seriously doubt if that’s going to work for a third time in a row.

The other possibility is that the republicans may simply steal the election again. That wouldn’t surprise me at all. There’s abundant evidence they managed it in both 2000 and 2004.

There’s already a republican plot afoot in the critical state of Ohio to purge 650,000 predominently young and minority voters from the rolls by way of “caging”, which they utilized to great effect in 2004. Of course this time around they’re dealing with a campaign organization that knows how to fight back. Chicago, remember? That might make a critical difference.

I suspect at this point in time a big republican concern is whether attention may be diverted from the republican national convention this coming week. Maybe that possiblity will make the people in the White House a little more attentive to impending disaster than they were in the case of Hurricane Katrina.

This has been a difficult week, well a difficult six months. The reality and depth of misogyny in our country has been reviled and it is ugly. There is lots of work to do as it seems to be coming from the top of the DNC down. The decision was made months ago that Senator Clinton would not be the delegate.

So now, I read and hear that because I don’t pledge my vote, my money and my time to the candidate I am “bitter.” Disagreement is “bitter.” So much for democracy. For me, this is not about politics, it is more important, it is about the leader of our country. I’ve looked at Senator Obama and I can’t see it. He hasn’t really done anything. Even listening to the speeches, the only accomplishment he seems to have in his resume is working as a community organizer, though it seems he didn’t last at that job very long. Oh and he “opposed the war from the start.” Well, if working with folks in need is the thing you need on your resume, I guess I would qualify. I oppposed the war from the start. I worked for 26 years with delinquent kids (hung in that job a year or to longer than the senator). I could handle congress. I know how to deal with conflict– Yes I can!!!!!!!!!

  • ziggy

He isn’t qualified, and hasn’t really done anything?

A multi-cultural background, to begin with. This I see as a good thing, when he might be representing the United States to the rest of the world. It’s also essentially American. We are, quite literally, from everywhere now.

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, magna cum laud, and president of the prestigous Harvard Law Review.

A community organizer and civil rights attorney in Chicago–which was surely a strong dose of street-level reality.

Lecturer on Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years.

An Illinois State Senator for 8 years.

A U.S. Senator for nearly 4 years, helping to author legislation on conventional weapons control, public accountability of federal funds, lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel. He made official trips during this time to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

To this we can add the fact that he obviously possesses a high level of political and motivational skill. His meteoric rise can be interpreted in no other fashion.

He’s also a future-oriented optimist, focused on possibilities rather than limitations.

That’s a fairly solid list of accomplishments and attributes, if you ask me.

    • elise

ziggy, being bi-racial is not an accomplishment and is not the result of anything he did.

A community organizer and civil rights attorney in Chicago–which was surely a strong dose of street-level reality

I’m not at all sure this qualifies him for the presidency. Working at a community level wouldn’t seem to be a good foundation for the complexities of governing the most powerful country in the world. As far as being a civil rights attorney, it was during this period of time he represented a slum landlord.

The ILL State Senate is a part-time job, 55days/yr which would amount to less than two years and his record there is not impressive. His record in the US Senate, which I believe you took from his website is not that impressive and there are misrepresentations.

To this we can add the fact that he obviously possesses a high level of political and motivational skill. His meteoric rise can be interpreted in no other fashion.

I can think of other interpretations of his meteoric rise, but I doubt you would listen. And this one had to have come from his website also:

He’s also a future-oriented optimist, focused on possibilities rather than limitations.

I’m afraid you are the optimist, not a bad thing unless it interfers with your ability to observe reality. He is a politician just as his pastor, Rev. Wright said, and says what he needs to in order to get what he wants.

    • John House

Being bi-racial in America means nothing when one half of you comes from Hawaii (no offense, NoQ Hawaiians) and the other half Kenya. It just means that your mom had a penchant for foreigners and a deep desire to GTFO of OUR country in order to BE with foreigners on foreign soil. At least, that’s how the Repugs might be able to play it, as it’s true in Obama’s case.

Your entire comment reads like an advert for a young dude with no resume. All fluff and padding.

  • Christy

BO isn’t qualified. He himself said he lacked experience during the start of the primaries.

“…helping to author…” so he was forced to sit on some committees, big deal.

If lack of experience was BO’s only problem, I would still vote for him over the Republican. But it only scratches the surface.

I could list a hundred reasons why I could never vote for him, but how about the fact he is a hate-monger that sat in a racist church for 20 years, then lied about knowing his “uncle” Wright was a racist? Not to mention he and his wife hate America.

In the ultimate hypocrisy, BO has ridden the race card to get where he is now. Even Bill Clinton wasn’t above being called a racist by the BO team.

  • ame

Exactly. The sarcasm was very subtle but it was there. Good observation.

To clear things up: Michelle’s mouth was, for the vast majority of the time, motionless. When it was not, it was in a frozen, tight-lipped “smile”. Only when the audience was standing and applauding Bill’s comments about Barack did she actually smile.

THE POINT IS: That, in contrast to the rest of the endlessly screaming crowd; the fanatical adulation and arm-waving that met nearly every phrase coming from Big Dawg’s obviously-adored mouth – Michelle’s Polite Applause may well have been a scowl.

  • Murray

PaddyJ: Yes. I felt that, by his Perfect Speech before and Adoring Crowd (the REAL kind, NOT the pre-manufactured-at-Berlin kind) Bill Clinton was, in essence saying to Obama, “After this, if you say one more bad thing about me, it’s going to bite you in the a$$.” THIS is how it’s done right.
Golly, no one does it like Big Dawg.

  • DoesItMatter

    Did anyone catch this:

“Everyone shouted “Ay” again when asked to vote for Sen. Obama as the nominee of the Democratic party.”

    And notice this:

Pelosi gave everyone time to say “Ay.” Then she requested “Nay” and did not give anyone a nanosecond to respond. Listen to the clips.

  • Katmoon

really disgusting, and unnecessary; but hey that’s how you roll right? No surprise there.

I may not have liked the topics of the Clinton speeches, but I was ever reminded what good they have done, and how well we would have done with Hillary. All this did was cement my not voting for Obama. That nasty light of comparison, O fails.
