Tonight on NQR: Special Convention Coverage with Patsy & Sugar

Will he show up wearing a toga to match the fake Greco-Roman temple? Will they fly him in from the roof, like that guy in the Opening Ceremony in Beijing? Or maybe the stadium will be transformed into a cathedral of light, à la Albert Speer?

Whatever happens tonight with Senator Obama’s speech, we’ll be ready.

Tune in to NQR after the speech for a special late-night edition of Our View with our two new radio stars, Patsy and Sugar. They’ll weigh in with their view of the speech, the convention, Senator Obama, Senator Biden — the whole crazy circus.

We’re planning to start at 11pm, but if the speech runs over, we’ll start the show whenever Obama stops. Watch this blog for updates.

Listen to the livestream broadcast on NQR from 11pm to midnight ET (or thereabouts). The call-in line for questions is (347) 677-0792. We’ll also have the chat room open on NQR (look for the green chat sign).

Don’t miss it!

(But if you do, an audio archive of the show will be available at NQR immediately following the broadcast.)

P.S. We’re very pleased to announce that “Our View” is going to be a weekly program from now on. Tune in every Thursday night at 9pm ET to hear Patsy and Sugar!

Patsy and Sugar, I love you.

I am an “Our View” fan through and through.

  • pacman

    We will so be listening!

  • http://! Clinton Fan

    I can’t wait!!!

    Will you be taking questions?

If so, you should take a few via the net, in advance, in case you have “tech” issues.

  • IronMan

Obama to do the catwalk tonight from the false facade of the temple of doom? Such a fake!

    McCain ’08
    Hillary ’12

Will be there after the three ring circus ends, if I am not too tired.

    Off Topic:

There’s been a lot of talk about Mac’s VP possibly being a woman. It would be a wise choice if he does.

It would have hurt ob because the field of choice was weakened by the inevitable comparison to Hillary.

A woman would signal a number of very strong messages.

It would be a great counter to ob’s whole corner on the “historic” nature. It would put a quash on the obot spewing the topic of women’s rights are owned by the Dems. This year the Reps won’t balk and cross over to vote for barky – no matter what Mac does.
The droves of Hillary voters upset by the sexism would be more inclined to vote for Mac.

This has been such an intensely feminist sentiment invoking year thanks to Hillary.

    If not now, when?

If his pick is one of the many women suggested – Carly Fiorina, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Sarah Palin, Meg Whitman, Condi Rice if she changes her mind…
it could go a long way towards him gaining voters.

Just a thought. There is no way he would pick Joe Lieberman, he isn’t polling well with republicans and all the women mentioned above are polling well.

I could vote for a Republican ticket with a female without having to hold my nose even.

Interesting, eh? We might get our first female in the White House and it would be in a very roundabout way thanks to Hillary after all. But not quite what we were all hoping for.

I may not catch it live

if not I’ll surely catch it later!!!

    Never miss it!

Also, I had the weirdest dream and when I woke up I saw my dream in the headlines. It was Mr. Wildcard for McCain. And would assure him FLORIDA! Yep how about Crist? I like him. That would make it very easy for this X Floridian to pull the lever for McCain in NOV.

    He’s smart, thoughtful, non-threatening (that’s a biggie for this X Dem)

if we have to sit in a 4 yr hold position I’d not mind it with and MC ticket (and lookie the letters match like the obama biden letter OB)

    The MC ticket

    hehe

Maybe Obama will finish off his Greek god walk in the old Greek/Roman style . When the people of Rome became unruly it became the custom of the Emperors to “Give them a circus and a loaf of bread”. The circus has begun. :)

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

    doh tpyos typos oops

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

a loaf of bread for reaL???

that would be so apropos to Barry’s giving of BREAD$$$
to buy himself those Emperor’s new clothes

  • harvey

That was true of Rome. But I am thinking of the promise of reparation instead of a loaf of bread. Now roll out the chariots LOL!!

  • Astra14

If he picks a woman, hopefully it’s a strong one who’s not going to sit in the corner just for show.

  • destardi

    I would like to see this…but I think it’s a pipedream.

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

they’ll have to get in line (with me anyway) lol

  • harvey

Hey! Just look what Obama gave the people in Germany–A rock concert and free food & beer.

  • karen for Clinton

Maybe not destardi. There have been several people close to the McCain camp who have leaked that his choice is going to be a “big surprise” and not at all what people are expecting.

If it is any of the candidates he ran against then the ob forces can use his own long time in political quotes against him. If it is any of the women mentioned then they are free from previous attacks by McCain.

They have been under the vetting process as well since they’ve been in the public eye and have more or less records of great accomplishment and stand on their own merits.

The republicans would gain nothing but good press for it. And do remember Elizabeth Dole had wide support from the GOP and she almost ran against Mac in 2000 but dropped out early, and she was ahead of Mac in the straw poles that year.

It would definitely be a media darling news story and it would fill that gap of “all white men” we have suffered under for 232 years.

Talk about hitting the Dems with their own error!

A woman as VP would be devastating to the party who stole the nomination from a woman in full view of God, the electorate and the world.

That would be a bite in Dean’s ass and Pelosi would be forced to see the results of their ignoring all the sexism all year.

NBC could go on attacking a woman and further reducing their credibility.

It is to me the most intelligent choice, and the women they can pick from are great choices and stand strong without the benefits of gender.

    A win-win with no downside.

    Fingers crossed.

  • karen for Clinton

What decade are you from? Women in office are not there for show. They are extremely productive.

That glass ceiling just holds them back – not their abilities.

Ginger did it in high heels and backwards, Fred.

  • Tattie

I heard on a spanish station that Bon Jovi and Springteen will be playing before Obama’s speech. Obama cannot draws these types of crowds without giving free concerts and other freebies.

  • karen for Clinton

If they are going to build a colliseum the least they can do is throw barky to the PUMAs for entertainment.

They’d have to pick his parts up after we tear him to itty bitty pieces. ;-)

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

    exactly!

Hey is the McCain Camp rich enough to fly in some PUMAS to sit somewhere at his convention? LMAO! That would spazzzz out extremists on the far left AND perhaps the far right.

Set up his convention like the knights of the round table and give a symbolic seat to all PUMA

    ROAR! & W00T!!
