A Night At The Pepsi Center

(I was in awe as I stepped through the security gate!) I know you are all wondering, how did she do that? It was so easy even the unity jacka$$ could do it.

We decided to make it a “black ops” mission. We invaded the Pepsi Center. We borrowed credentials from delegates, DNC members and others. It was a gas. The funny thing is that the Secret Service stood right near us while we “borrowed” the credentials. Some had arena credentials and others had floor credentials. Two group members spent time in a beer company’s sky box.

I had the opportunity to meet Alan Colmes (Sean Hannity) would have been more fun to meet. Alan Colmes and I e-mailed for sometime about veterans issues and the VA. I introduced myself. I reminded him of our e-mails. He said “I think I remember”. I am sure he didn’t but….I would have found him more credible if he didn’t feel the need to lie!

It was a momentous evening as Hillary was about to speak. Her speech was wonderful but heartbreaking at times. I alternately laughed and cried. The tears were the heaviest when she talked about the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits”. I was a member of that sisterhood. I traveled through four states for her, the last was Montana. That was the most incredible experience for me since I ran the Veterans for Hillary Tour.

As I had a chance to really observe the Pepsi Center one thing struck besides the fact the venue was much too small (I think the fire marshall should have just kicked everyone out!) and that was its inaccessibility to disabled folks. At the entrances to the arena seats I counted a very few wheelchairs. Got me wondering….. Does the DNC really encourage participation by disabled folks? I guess they really care about the Affirmative Action written into their own delegation selection process! (NOT!)

I was discussing the sad state of affairs about disabled access when I was accosted and shoved away from a camera crew by a super delegate in a bright lime green suit! (And these people are picked to represent the Democratic Party!!) that was trying to interview me. What a nasty lady? The Democratic Party needs to invest in a Miss Manners book or two, make it mandatory reading for the next convention!

When Hillary’s speech ended it was like a herd of unity jackasses running for the nearest exits. It was almost as if someone had fired the gun at the start of a jacka$$ race! If you weren’t moving fast enough, the people literally body checked evryone in their way. Hey when did RUDE become a central part of the Democratic Party?

I know it all seems a little over the top! It gets even better….. I am waiting outside while the group reformed, when I suddenly turned around and ended up looking Dick Morris right in the eyes. I stuck my hand out….introduced myself, shook his (and bit my tongue….I knew something irrelevant and not nice was going to come out of my mouth)….. well I smiled, stumbling over my words and said I watch you all the time…. And the whole time all I was thinking why couldn’t I meet Terry McAuliffe or even the Big Dawg?

My night at the Pepsi Center was wonderful! I enjoyed Hillary’s speech but why oh why did I have to meet Dick Morris of all people?

      Carville is one of the most loyal and witty men to ever enter the political battlefield. He can say things in a most understated or in your face kind of way and he does it right on target and to the point.

      Few would chose to tangle with him in a debate, he is a pit bull on his deeply formed opinions.

      His Judas remark was an instantaneous classic.

      btw – doesn’t homeland security and the secret service check the people entering the hall! With all the nuts out there it isn’t a very comforting feeling to know people entered with false credentials right before Hillary spoke in full view of the guards.

      I went to Jazz fest in NOLA for a week a year before Katrina. I loved that town and am grateful I got to see it in all its raging glory before the storm hit.

      That said, I was totally against them rebuilding it on the same land. They could have moved it to other higher ground to the north instead of right back where they know they are below sea level.

      The quarter was largely saved, but so many other parishes perished due to location on the crescent.

      Lake Pontchartrain is permanently polluted due to it being the font for the run off.

      Prayers to all to make it through Gustav intact.

      And yes, it would be good to have Bush far away from the convention, very good catch Dawnelle.

      If I have to be a republican for a day, it doesn’t mean I have to actually sink so low as to watch Bush speak. That’s as bad as watching barky speak.

    Slightly off-subject: I wish I thought Hillary and Bill would go out and play golf when Obama comes down from the mountain. If you remember, that’s what The Precious offered as a photo-op while Hillary was giving her concession speech.
    Did I read that he’ll be arriving at THE ARENA in a mock-up fuselage of Air Force One? I tell ya, the fun never stops.

    Unfortunately, Morris’s ugly mug is a harsh reminder of Hillary Clinton hate that’s infested the Democratic Party. It’s a metaphor for faux Unity Pony manure.

    I don’t know about anybody else, but for me, this convention has put my Unity Pony into a coma and it is barely hanging on under life support. I am about ready to shoot it to put it out of its misery.

    Nancy, your post rings a bell. I was pondering last night how the Progessive pundits lament that the Republican Party today is not what it used to be. Most notably, Stephanie Miller is the daughter of Bill Miller who was Barry Goldwater’s running mate. She’s often said that by today’s Republican standards, Barry would be considered a liberal.

    Well, the same is true for the Democrats. The “New” Democratic Party (or perhaps I should call it the Obamacratic Party) is not what it used to be. It has been hijacked by a bunch of pseudo liberal corportists who give lip service to the middle class all the while they are lining the pockets of corporations behind the scenes. They are starting to mix religion in too. They pretend to be pro-women and we all know what a big joke that is. Then there is the war which many Dems voted to give Bush the authority, including Joe Biden.

    You might hear different words coming out of their mouths, but when you examine the actions, the New Democrats really aren’t that much different than the New Republicans regardless of what they are trying to get you to believe.

    We are all screwed by this pro corporation, 2 – party system of ours. The Clintons are the closest thing we have to real Democrats anymore and even they aren’t perfect.

    Oh, and visualize this: Me brushing off both shoulders to rid them of what Bill and Hillary said about supporting Obambi, in the same way he brushed Hillary off after his final, lame debate performance.

    Someone should nominate the Clintons for Best Actor and Best Actress in supporting roles come Oscar time.

    As a personal acquaintance of the Clintons, I would like more of your views on the campaign.
    I skipped the convention, but saw replays of Hillary’s and Bill’s speeches.
    I certainly understand why they are standing up for the “O”, but in all honesty, it’s a “gut punch” for me, and I feel resentment about it!
    True confessions time!

    Now that the democratic party is officially not democratic. I think we need to look around – do our research – to find a true blue Democratic to run for President in four years. We have a list of the turncoats so we know who not to include in any list for a Democratic leader.

    I am forgetting Hillary now as she will just not run again and if she does I doubt she will get the financial support next time that she got this time, sad to say.

    It was wonderful meeting you in person Tuesday night. I’m glad you got to to the Pepsi Center. I watched the speech on a junbo tron at Cheesman Park with many other Hillary supporters (and a few Obama supporters). We also cheered and cried. One of the loudest cheers was the line “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits”.

    Why, oh why did the DNC prove to be as corrupt ans the RNC?
