It’s bad enough that American taxpayers have to bail out the privately owned, tax-exempt Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

But it’s truly outrageous that tax dollars will also go to support activist groups involved in voter fraud and illegal immigration.

According to House Financial Services Committee member Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the small print in the $42 billion bailout bill passed by Congress and signed by President Bush requires these two government-sponsored mortgage giants to

deposit 4.2 percent of all new mortgages they underwrite into the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that will be $531 million in fiscal 2009 alone.

Here’s the catch. Bachmann warns that the trust fund — the largest expansion of federal housing assistance since Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society — is required to make grants to organizations that have “demonstrated the experience and the capacity to carry out the proposed Trust Fund activity.”

Which means that money can easily be siphoned off to groups such as the National Council of La Raza and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The latter has been heavily funded by George Soros, the mega-wealthy mogul behind many liberal causes.

La Raza, which opposes efforts to stop illegal immigration, and ACORN, members of which have been convicted of voter registration fraud in numerous states, are each eligible for $230 million under Section 134: Grants for Housing Counseling Assistance. And because the trust fund is “off budget,” the grants won’t show up on any congressional balance sheets.

The Fannie Mae Foundation has already contributed more than $800,000 to the ACORN Housing Corp., which was also actively involved in the sub-prime mortgage disaster.

La Raza testified before the Financial Services Committee in favor of the housing trust fund on numerous occasions. Little wonder. It’s a perfect way to hide payoffs to activist groups that in turn support political candidates who promise to keep their funding spigot on full blast.

These morsels are just a taste of what’s to come if Barack Obama wins the White House and Democrats gain veto-proof majorities in the Senate and House. As an opening bid in his $6 billion anti-poverty program, Obama seeks a Social Investment Fund Network with a White House office to disburse funds to “social entrepreneurs and leading non-profits” that are inspiring “change in their communities.”

Translated: Obama will give billions more tax dollars to radical non-profits like Soros’ ACORN and LaRaza. Soros – who is also a long-time Obama donor – must want a return on his investment.

So far, Obama fails the gracious winner test, the diplomat test (has he even tried to reach out to Hillary’s supporters?), the good judgment test (the songs alone before and after Bill’s supportive speech), impeccable associates test, good manners test, integrity test, and the ultimate test… CIC.

I am truly embarrassed about what the Democratic Party has become. I think there are enough of us Dems and Repubs, that are sick and tired of this crap. Team Obama tried to capitalize on our discontent(can we say poll driven and will say anything to be elected?), but his message and motives were to manipulate. We saw his “grassroots” movement as the AstroTurf that it is.

We really need to find a way to build a viable third party. One for honest moderates that will work to solve our problems here and globally. We need a party that will help our country live up to it’s promise. It would have to be an exclusive party though… No plastics would be allowed…

It’s hard to separate out what he said from the hype of the corinthian columns, the fireworks, the massive size of the crowd (only 1 out of 7 people interviewed in the waiting line were actual Obama supporters). So, yes, what an extravaganza. But the speech didn’t introduce any elements we haven’t already heard coming from his mouth. Time will tell.

A little discussion earlier on Fox about the Ayers ad and the Obama campaign wanting the DOJ to file a “criminal” complaint. Commentators agreed that it will only serve to give it more attention and that everything on the ad is substantiated and true so…the laughs on them. Well, I think the gloves are off and Mac’s very classy ad congratulating Obama prior to the convention was the end of all the joking (very effective though) around. They made a point though that they have given them their week and it sort of sounded as if they were asking for a gentlemen’s agreement for the same from them. Well, good luck with that. The Ayers ad appears extremist to most mainstream Americans–almost like a product of conspiracy theorists. People who are totally anti-Obama miss that about the ad, because it resonates so strongly with the views they already hold.

McCain needs a new tactic, because the negativity is already starting to reflect back on him, and the content isn’t counteracting the positive, entirely reasonable image Obama is building for himself.

Pundits just mentioned on Larry King that he never uttered anything about 911 either–during a time that terrorism is still an issue we face in this country–sometimes at the hands of our own Americans–Bill Ayers. Perhaps as another poster stated, people should be reminded that Ayers is an unrepentant American terrorist who bombed and maimed. People need to remember what Sept 11 looked like. I didn’t watch. Didn’t want to give them the ratings. I think if you have cable TV or satellite TV they can tell what you’re watching otherwise how did they know how many million were watching CNN, versus FOX, versus MSNBC, etc. I saw the number posted somewhere yesterday and all the viewer numbers were in the 4 million range execept for FOX which was 2+ million. You know those Obama people think FOX is the McCain network.

Republican campaign spokespersons and commentators were pouring it on throughout the convention, pushing the same talking points, spinning speeches and events only moments after they happened. FOX certainly didn’t provide straightforward convention coverage. They basically tried to alter perceptions of convention events on the roll. Sunday, GOP ads questioning why Obama hadn’t chosen Clinton as VP had received heavy televison play. A second TV ad followed, featuring Hillary’s criticisms of Obama. Tuesday, Romney laid into the Democrats during a widely televised midday news conference. Wednesday, Guiliana took his shot. Wednesday night, after Bill’s speech, the GOP released a web ad attacking Obama’s experience, using primary contest quotes of various democrats against him. The republicans themselves have set a new precedent.

My comments about LBJ had nothing to do with the Voting Rights Act. It had nothing to to with anything other than he was an old style politician who twisted arms and wasn’t the most honest politician on the block. He lied to us all the way through about VietNam beginning with the Gulf of Tonkin and he was so ambitious that when JFK was assassinated, the initial conspiracy theories were that he was responsible for it in order to take over. It didn’t matter that there was no connection or proof, it was because of his reputation and the kind of politician he was. I lived through that era and can in hindsight appreciate his domestic contributions. But he did tax us to pay for that damned war in a way we couldn’t get out of by adding a 10% surcharge on the 1040 Internal Revenue Tax filing and in the long run just about bankrupted the country to pay for his folly.
