In our county, we have a number of schools which have been given a failing grade, operating way below state standards...all have a majority of Mexican kids with non-English speaking parents. When LaRaza comes around to celebrate Cinco De Mayo next week, they will address the class only in Spanish, tell them that CA and the SouthWest were taken from them; it is their country and it is their right to reclaim it by any means possible from the Gringos. That's why they are in a district where the school is due to be closed for non-compliance of standards.

Earlier comments that along the lines of the Tea Party not having the answers to America’s long-term fiscal outlook and Obama being a second Bush were not responded to directly. I simply made the comment they perhaps deserve a more critical analysis and that being a Hillary supporter (nothing against that, I was/am one myself) was more or less irrelevant to the point.

No snark, snideness or crime (giant misspelling aside) attempted. -).

As I said, I was trying to be funny. You originally seemed to be making some kind of snarky statement about Hillary supporters, though I didn't address that. And you keep your comment history secret. So who knows if you are the same person as the "guest" whose comment followed yours. International travel is not an excuse to use the term "behoof." It's so out of the ordinary a term to use at all nowadays. You were trying to sound superior as far as I could tell, and I was trying to make a joke without answering your snark against Hillary supporters.

I didn't think you were advocating stay home Ani. I have more respect for you than that! I was just answering your question. For me and my point of view.

I know too many people who might be able to make a difference but are so disgusted and discouraged that they don't vote. I nag the hell out of them and explain that voting is your "ticket to bitch". If you don't vote, IMO, then you lose the right to bitch, long, loud and often. It's a ticket I use frequently. I earned it by voting in every presidential election and most state and local elections for as long as I've been old enough to vote. I don't consider voting a "right" or a "privilege", I consider it a duty.

Oops, one of my damn issues is showing again. Sorry.

They want to say the Tea Party has no clout and no leader.
Well maybe the Tea Party thinks we have one leader too many!
If the democrats like Rendell thought we were grateful for the one they appointed, the majority of voters are sending a different message!

When did the Governors of states decide that they only need represent those that agree with their idealogy? Those Tea Party citizens are voters in his state. His dissing and dismissing them is being a partisan, not a Governor. Shame on him!

How about Senators for that matter? My Senator, Russ Feingold, made a snotty remark when someone confronted him about his support for the Heath Care Atrocity about him being in a "conservative" area of the state. I thought he was supposed to represent the "entire" state not just the liberal enclaves. I've voted "for" Feingold every time he ran. I will now vote "against" him until we get his partisan ass out of office. I want people that represent our state and ALL the people in it.

The only ways anyone ever gets put in time out or banned is if they engage in homophobic, sexist, or racist attacks

that sentence should end with "unless you are a regular poster here, then feel free to be as hateful, homophobic, sexist and racists as you want to be."

Surfered there is very little point in trying to understand the teaparty crowd are they are mostly just a bunch of hypocrites. They make no sense whatsoever. Not even clear what they are complaining about.

Taxes: 95% of Americans got a tax cut from Obama and how much lower do they want taxes to do? to zero? anarchy.

Deficit: where were the protests under Bush. most of the current deficit is from the decisions bush made and the bush recession. If teapartiers want to cut taxes then what will they cut in terms of spending to keep the deficit from going even higher? Medicare, social security, defense spending? They have no meaningful answers.

I also had admiration for Rendell when he announced his continued support of Hillary. BUT...it didn't take him long to "throw her under the bus", and transform into an Obamacrat. Since then, I never believe anything he says. "Fool me once..same on you...fool me twice...shame on me".

I was referring to the rate farm employers advertise for native labor.

Certainly near where I live in Southwest Michigan not all farmers who hire seasonal labor are always in compliance with all the regulations.
Because if there are agricultural visas that are available but go unnfilled, I suppose it must mean the workers are either improperly hired or not being paid the wages they should.

But the competition for farm labor across states and with other industries like construction and service is important for recruitment so it does seem to help keep living conditions up to some extent. So we like to believe the vast majority of mostly apple and blueberry growers treat their employees with respect, because they want good workers to return. And Michigan is in the top 5 of agricultural states -- On the other hand, with an unemployment rate at 14% and a projected state budget deficit of $1.7 billion, I don't know of any scientifically sound data to back up the claim.
