Barack’s Chutzpah Moment

I never realized how shrewd and smart John McCain could be. (Check Memeorandum.com to see all the stories that now dominate the news coverage.) In selecting Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, as his running mate he dared the Democrats to make the case, as they have, that she’s not qualified because she “lacks foreign policy experience.” He understands that when the media decides to investigate Governor Palin they will be forced to conclude that she actually has more foreign policy experience than Obama. As Susan pointed out below, she was in Germany visiting wounded troops long before Barack sought to speak at the Brandenburg Gate. She is a Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard and those troops have been in combat.

So, if you are running Barack’s campaign, you don’t want to renew the focus on your own candidate’s zero experience as an elected executive do you? Oh hell yes. Clueless to the concept of irony the Barack team is trying to attack Palin’s “paltry” experience. They did this with a straight face. Did anyone think to check Barack Obama’s resume? As the media starts asking questions of Palin, which they have refused to ask of Barack, the discrepancy will become apparent and Barack will find himself in the spotlight. If the standard applies to Palin it must apply to Barack. Unlike Obama, Palin actually knows something about balancing a budget, getting the streets fixed, getting the trash picked up, and going after corrupt politicians and lobbyists.

Barack? Hell, he funneled money to the likes of Tony Rezko and did nothing to ensure that constituents in his district living in sub-standard housing were protected. And Barack’s one foray into “management” as the lackey of Bill Ayers on the Annenberg Challenge will be shown to have been a corrupt, insider trading scheme in which he helped steer money to cronies and ignored genuine education reform. That’s why is campaign is fighting so viciously to keep the media from looking at that part of his cuddling with unrepentant terrorist, Bill Ayers.

  • Dave_Not_For_Obambi

    I’ll bet Palin could/would look into Obambi/Ayers/Rezko without breaking a nail. ;)

IF I hear one more time that if women vote for McCain we will be losing on the abortion issues.

If that is not sexist I dont know what is. Many of us do believe in women having this choice but do not feel abortion is right for ourselves.

Democrats you had better get off the women will lose abortion rights train or you are going to lose even more women.

Larry you made my day. Have a free bucket of buttered popcorn, on the house!

To quote the Obummer, when he dropped the racist card, …”Oh, and by the way, he’s black.”

Well, re Sarah Palin as the Republican VP choice, OH, BY THE WAY, SHE’S A WOMAN! A punch in the eye to Obummer from the “sisterhood of the traveling pantsuit”! Hillary and Geraldine are avenged!

  • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

I had a feeling that McCain was possibly setting up for a female VP with his “Debra” ad. He was starting to court disenfranchised Hillary voters with that ad, and I was hoping he’d follow it up with a female VP choice. And then he did! Quite brilliant!

I can’t tell you how emotional his choice of Palin made me. I cried when I found out. I’m not sure if any man can really understand how deeply Hillary’s defeat affected many women. Sure, there are a lot of women out there who are in denial about sexism and don’t want to support other women. But there are also a lot of us who have been deeply offended by how the Democratic party treated Hillary and us, her female supporters.

With McCain’s choice of Palin, I feel heard and listened to. No, she’s not pro-choice or a Democrat, but I watched her speech and I can tell she is a REAL, caring individual. I liked her.

Obama is cold and calculating, and yet still stupid enough to ignore us.

For McCain’s savvy alone I will support him, but I now support him wholeheartedly with Palin as VP.

  • Pyromancer76

I think the choice of Palin is a stroke of genius, two mavericks, two reformers, two experienced candidates, two winners. The Barackopolus-Biden ticket looks wimpier by the minute. And it is Hillary’s historic run, not as a woman, but as the finest candidate we have seen in a long time, that has made the choice of Palin possible. Glass ceilings are shattering all over the US today.

  • J.J.

I understand, Larry, that you do not want to endorse McCain for President, but how about endorsing Palin for vice president??

When McCain met with PUMA he said he heard PUMA’s concerns and he kept his word. She mentioned REFORM (election reform) and she mentioned Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary, the ‘Suffrage Movement’ and those 18 Million cracks in the ceiling.

Too bad the Democrats kept with the broken system and prevented the ‘Roll Call Vote’ and prevented the
‘Roll Call Voe on VP’ for Hillary!

    Larry,

I have to agree. I didn’t think McCain had the stones to do it, but he did! Imagine that – a politician that takes PUMA seriously. This is OUR victory, folks. If my choice is sloppy seconds this year, guess I’ll have myself a heapin helpin of a qualified woman and a war hero over a criminal and a gasbag come November.

  • Darryl

The Obama camp now sounds like a replay of what they did to Hillary. He just lost the election. I think he would have been fine had he not attacked her but just congradulated her. Instead his campiagn now sounds REALLY sexist.

Bottom line—this is his howard dean moment. He just lost bad.

  • Ohio Bill

    You all don’t get it.

McCain’s choice will be rightly framed as his belief that women are interchangeable as if all that matters is their internal plumbing. They think they can replace Hillary as the choice by inserting and get the same reaction. You are already seeing, “Sen. Mccain I am not stupid” posts popping up.

In the end its a insult to Sen. Clinton and her supporters.

Watch time will show me right.

  • Gleep

Hey moron, she blocked legislation that would have disallowed same sex spousal benefits. So in effect, she supported the gay cause.

And she is prolife on a personnal level, not anti-choice.

And I can go on, but good god Obots are stupid. Why bother.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

If Obama wants to make the race about his foriegn policy weakness, which is McCains strength, he truly is an idiot.

McCains Pick of Palin does goad Obama into highlighting his own weakness.

Palin is a brilliant, bold and beautiful pick.

And, she will be a fantastic VP, one we can all be proud of.

  • Seattle Moss

I guess you can call me a real man..

  • http://safari AnnieCarmel

Larry! I’m thrilled. J. Mac is brilliant! I just love it. Now it’s my turn to do the happy dance.

If the Democrats can’t think past Roe v Wade surviving 8 years of the most desperate administration in memory in its pandering relentlessly to the conservative right then they are nuts.

It’s becoming a reality. I’ll never go back to the Democratic Party. And if this ticket wins and does even half of the job I expect, I’ll be a Republican by next election.

  • http://obamafact.blogspot.com/ Mel

Palin gave a terrific speech today, proving how intelligent she is by avoiding the experience part and to hold it until the convention, thus killing any Obama attacks.

So the next 5 days of the media bullshit about her and she will hit one single home run at the convention, she has more experience and is running for VP behind a seasoned experienced candidate, and what is the DNP offering?

Hillary must be shaking her head right now at how stupid her party is!

  • Jack

    “No foreign policy experience”

But Barack visited Pakistan 20 years ago for a few weeks holed up with some rich friends! He might have taken a train tour of Europe on Eurail pass! this qualifies for experience with the Ivy League Crowd and they dominate the major press so they must be right!

    LOL. Such arrogance.

McCain’s people are brilliant, I must admit. They kept people thinking the VP would be Mitt or some wishy washy white guy so the Dem leaders wouldn’t force Hillary on The One for the sake of the “women’s vote.” Now all the male Obamabots are throwing sweetie hissy fits.

Next up, Ivy League women will lecture the country how Palin isn’t a proper womens’ leader.

    Nader year again.

  • Jason

Larry, have you lost your mind? Mccain just lost his main line of attack against Obama. How can he accuse Obama of not being experienced enough when he just picked the 20 month governor of a state of 600,000 people. Her prior experience is mayor of a town of 10,000 and beauty pageant runner up. But she’s the commender in chief of the alaskan national guard? Are you kidding?

This choice is an insult to HRC supporters – McCain is just saying that women are fungible.

Game is not over yet for Hillary. If Berg’s lawsuit is successful in getting Obama declared ineligible to run for POTUS:

Philip J Berg has also provided information on his website about the DNC rules applicable if Obama fails the citizenship test:

“We are receiving many emails asking what happens if in fact Senator Obama is forced to step down or is removed as the Democratic Nominee. For this reason, we have posted the Democratic National Comittee’s 2008 Call Rules and Regulations pertaining to replacement of a Democratic Nominee.

In particular, page 19, Section “G” states:

    G. Filling a Vacancy on the National Ticket: In the event of death, resignation or disability of a nominee of the Party for President or Vice President after the adjournment of the National Convention, the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee shall confer with the Democratic leadership of the United States Congress and the Democratic Governors Association and shall report to the Democratic National Committee, which is authorized to fill the vacancy or vacancies.”

Nah, I think you are wrong. Hillary’s sucess wasn’t just because of her policies. There were alot of republican women whom supported her because she was a women. In fact the exact opposite I think will occur than what you say. There were alot of republican women whom would vote for Hillary because of her husband and the fact she was a democrat. That is all changed now. McCain just won the election. Sorry dude.

Oh, Bill. I’m a rabid Hillary supporter. I started back in 1992 during the first campaign. I cherish a letter from Hillary sent to me from the first Little Rock campaign office thanking me for defending them in a letter to the editor of the SF Chron.

Would I have loved having Hillary in the #1 spot for the Dems? No question. And it is irony or ironies that she cracked the ceiling only to have a Republican woman ready herself to sail through it. Whether JM runs a second term or not, Sarah will be the heir to all that our brilliant Hillary has accomplished.

If Mccain trying to lure in Hillary supporters why not pick someone who was a CEO, or a strong lawyer? She was in a beauty contestant, majored in communications, and has very little political experince. She makes Obama look like Ted Kennedy. I bet Obama is on the phone with Hillary pleading her to come out and punch her out of consideration right now. She’s going to get killed in the VP debates.

My girlfriend who supported Clinton told me that this actually makes her hate McCain even more because he’s blantantly just trying to use women when he has no intention of helping them gain equality.

John McCain knows BO/MO has a thing with white women who don’t kiss their asses. So what does McCain do but stick “Barracuda” Palin in their faces and for the next 2 months. lol Can you imagine the faces MO will be making when Palin is around?

Like someone on NQR said, the issues went out the door when Hillary left the race, now it’s just a pissing contest between BO can McCain. BO talks left but acts like a childish dictator, while McCain talks right but has some left/libertarian leaning. If this is just a personality contest, I have to say McCain keeps impressing me with his wily old rascal self.

I just heard the news. I’m so thrilled. I was dreading hearing who McCain’s VP choice was because I was sure McCain would do the “right” shift and take Romney or worse and I just couldn’t vote for him then. But he proved himself to be the politician I always thought he was, tough, centered and headed in the direction his gut tells him to go, not the “right” direction or the “safe” direction. He took the bull by the thorns and chose the VP who was right for him and his message. He’s got my vote – sorry Hillary.

Democrats WILL continue to bring up the experience question and ordinary americans out here like myself will be forced to recognize that the Democrats inexperience is at the TOP of their ticket. PURE genius. Not to mention that once they do dig up her experience they will find as you point out the she is actually more experienced that their Presidential candidate.

You really don’t see the bigger picture here. This is a revolution, of sorts. You can either choose to understand and stop insulting, or you can choose to be ignorant of what is happening and, as Obama supporters normally do, put your head in the sand and pound your fists.

I don’t support the Democratic Party any longer because they stopped supporting themselves in nominating an unproven candidate to run for POTUS. All of the things I have fought for these past years have fallen on deaf ears with Party leaders. Bring our troops home? Our own elected Democratic Congress dropped the ball on that. Impeach Bush for lying us into a war? Our own Democratic Congress dropped the ball when Pelosi took *impeachment off the table.* And pro-choice is a done deal. Women have many, many options for unplanned pregnancies that weren’t around when my mom was a young woman in the 60s and 70s. It is a moot point that is used only by dinosaurs…is that what you are?

I’m tired of fighting for people that won’t fight for themselves. And supporting Obama over Clinton was voting AGAINST the Party because Obama has done nothing to prove he will stand up for any of these things. The War? You can just shut up about that. He gave a speech – when he was not in any position to have to vote – and he then went on to support funding the war EVERY TIME it came up. Women’s issues? He voted present 75% of the time. FISA? Can you say flippity-floppity?

I’m done with the Democratic Party. They are, IMO, posers. And I want no part of them any longer.

We are seeing a shift. There was a time the Democratic Party was the Party of segregationists, and the Republica Party was the more populist party.

Ok, so Obama was a State Senator for 8 years prior, working 55 hours per yr at the part time job, so hmmm give him another 3 months experience to the 4.5 in the US Senate.

Hillary’s historic run, not as a woman, but as the finest candidate we have seen in a long time, that has made the choice of Palin possible.

In the past few day’s I was wondering If Hillary would ever make it through the ceiling. If not this year, could she do it in 2012? Would she still be beat down by the media and her own party?

If Hillary does not make to the Presidency, she will be remembered as the one who shattered the glass ceiling, even though she could not climb through with all the critics pulling down her feet.

Someone, some woman had to blaze that trail for all women, and be the first to reach for that high office. Hillary did that with more class than many men, especially me, could ever carry out.

I hope Hillary has her chance. Her run this cycle, and now Palins run for VP may make that easier.

But if Hillary does not make it, her place in history is as more secure than any women how came before.

  • Katmoonicus

Debbie Wasserman Shulze apparently has already led an attack against Palin, what an ass; don’t use the same tricks that were used against you, people can see right through it. Palin has a decent record and has been a thorn to the republicans in her state, trying to reform her own party. And yes she had an investigation against her over having her ex brother in law suspended as a sheriff for tasing his 12 year old step son and beating on her sister; can’t say I look at his suspension as a bad thing. Her husband is native, she is part, and she is the siting govenor of Alaska, and formerly a mayor. Shame on the pitiful words of the o camp, trying to already lie about this woman. She has much more experience than a community organizer and a senator of 172 days(we don’t count campaign days as time served in office for experience, sorry). Her pro life issues are her own. It makes this an easy vote for McCain/Palin 08.

Nobody should ever compare Hillary to Sarah, two different women, two different qualification. Just saw her speech and the one thing most of us white bitter folks can relate to is that both she and her husband grew up with no entitlement…they both worked with their hands. What was barry’s point about not having the certain pedigree background?? Barry attended a cushy private school, most of us didn’t.

Now you misogynist Obama supporters go to town, you
    twits!

  • The Real Hope

While I agree with Palin that when girls seek an abortion, a parent has a right to know, however the fact that she supported the idea that a parent should be able to veto that child’s right to the abortion is a big, big problem. No parent should have the right to veto a child’s decision to abort. That is where I draw the line. No parent should have the right to force any girl to have an unwanted baby. PERIOD!
This says alot about Sarah Palin. This will not go over well with many women.

  • Jason

How do you figure she has more experience? Seriously – please explain.

  • Indy

I cried when Hillary ended the faux roll call on Wednesday, and I cried today when Gov Palin took the podium next to McCain. And I danced around the house a few times because I am so happy about this choice.

  • Peggy Sue

Keep telling yourself that, Jason. I’m a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter, but McCain’s choice of Palin was a masterstroke and proves that he has his ear to the ground.

And I wouldn’t think pouncing on Palin’s lack of experience would be a place the Obama folks would want to go. The Dems chose a nominee with scant experience and are running him for POTUS. By disrespecting the small town, blue collar constituency, you continue to disrespect a huge voting block.

And don’t even try the “insult to women” line, not after what Obama’s folks did to HRC.

This is a brand new ballgame.

  • bert

I am supposed to vote for an inexpereinced, unqualified man just because he is black???? !!!!!!

  • http://safari AnnieCarmel

How? Because she can run a state, and the national guard, clean up corruption, have children, bake a pie, oh, and BTW, did I tell you she has almost a 90% approval rating from her constituents? She is in the #2 spot and has plenty of time for the learning curve if she needs it (which is doubtful) whereas Obama is the #1 joke.

Sure, there isn’t another woman comparable to Hillary. Palin and Snowe could approach that though, after all Palin is only 44 now and look how much more she has done than Barky. So it was the best McCain could do for women.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

    Me too.

  • OBushMA!

Look how they try to minimize her, just like saying Hillary was just the First Lady. They ignore the fact she’s the Governor of Alaska now, and has done more in her tenure than BO did in his time as Senator. Oy, when the the other party’s vp has more qualifications than your presidential candidate, the Dems got a problem.

  • Mandelay

The first response statement from Obama’s organization did not even mention that Palin is a governor. They stopped short, making her the mayor of a town of 9.000 people. How funny! Did they think we would not notice? I guess Obama is counting on us to be stupid. Let’s make sure he finds out he’s wrong about that. Great post, Larry!!!!!

  • indypol

I told you that McCain was speaking softly and carrying a big stick. Oh man, now this was a stealth campaign. There was no huge media build-up, no denials (ie. flat-out lies) by the chosen nominee, no Greco-Roman back-drop, no smarminess.

In many ways, this is McCain’s love letter to Hillary. I know that it’s a bitter sweet love letter because Sarah Palin *will* be the first woman in the White House and if McCain only stays for one term, Palin will be the GOP front-runner in 2012. But, it is as close as McCain, someone who truly admires Hillary’s brilliance and courage, could get to choosing someone he respects. And he’s going to make damn sure that the media don’t do to Palin what they did to Hillary.

This selection not only takes all of the energy of Odumbo’s creepy, mega-expensive spectacle, but it’s also as aggressive as the Biden pick was defensive. In one fell swoop, McCain has truly set himself as the true change agent, not Odumbo and Crazy Joe. It also demonstrates McCain’s courage and Odumbo’s timidity, in spite of all the stupid ‘hope and change’ rhetoric from the latter. And I bet you that Palin will not duck any debates either.

Her nuanced treatment of same-sex marriage is also interesting. She opposes it in principle, like the good christian Odumbo, but she actually signed same-sex marriage benefits into law. I wonder what the pro-Obama champagne liberal gay groups will do with this.

So, the fireworks truly begin today. I can’t wait.

Guess I’ll be blogging ‘more’ for McCain/Palin now. What truly a joy it was helping Hillary on her quest for the Presidency. Sad she didn’t get what should have RIGHTFULLY been hers. It’s time to turn the page and THANK Sen. McCain for standing up for ALL women of the USA. “Hillary made 18 million cracks in that glass ceiling and I don’t think that women are finished” – Gov. Sarah Palin
    Amen!

really….palin shot down a law that would have blocked the rights of same sex couples. she is anti-gay marriage, but for the rights of gay couples(the very same as Hillary and obma and most dems who do not live in Massachusetts or California…it is a state by state thing))

her pro-life stance is her personal belief. as is joe biden’s and many dems serving who are not pro-choice personally.

if all those obama wimen had their eyes and ears open, they would have voted Hillary, who truly represents their best interest in that dept. …now they will just have to take a chance like everyone else on the roe-wade kerfuffle.

after 8 yrs of bush, roe-wade still stands. i am not going to be manipulated to vote for a corrupt phony because roe-wade “flag”.

    so, what else ya got?

  • Keep It Up

A poster on another post mentioned how Alaska had a small population (well, they actually insulted Alaska). Well here are the populations of both VP candidate’s states:

    Alaska: 670,053 (2006 est.)
    Alaska: 683,478 (2007 est.)

    Delaware: 853,476 (2006 est.)
    Delaware: 864,764 (2007 est.)

What a big difference — not! So if anyone else mentions she was a governor of a “small” state, well, they should admit as much with Biden (of course they won’t)!

  • Lin

    liar.

  • sfhillary

Uh, sorry, guys, Larry is dead wrong. Forget the pro-life thing; remember last week when PUMAs were baying for Lieberman and I wrote here that the odds of McCain picking someone who wasn’t strongly pro-life were zero? SFHillary knows what he is talking about, kids. Always. I don’t care about her social conservatism — that’s part and parcel of being part of today’s Republican Party, and it’s a big part of why I hate today’s Republican Party. The real point here is that the pick has already sparked an uproar on the Republican side. McCain is a 72-year-old cancer survivor who just picked a VP who, 20 months ago, was the mayor of a town with a population of 6,500. Here’s a sampling of Republican opinion leaders:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/29/125530/561?detail=f

As usual, in the case of VPs, Obama’s executive decision was steady and right, and McCain’s was flailing and wrong. Biden is very experienced, deeply knowledgeable about foreign policy, a charming family man, an enthusiastic attack dog and a steadying presence for a young candidate’s campaign. McCain lurched toward a woman to try and please PUMAs and got a blank slate who might have scandal problems and who will emphasize, every day, how old he is. This is a very unpredictable and, for McCain, very dangerous pick. I wrote last week that I thought Biden was a pick made by a very confident campaign. Palin is a pick by a scared campaign that’s trying to shake things up.

As for your response that Obama doesn’t have “experience” either — check the tracking polls over the next couple days to see whether Obama made the case to the American people that he is ready to lead this country. If the Gallup and Rasmussen daily tracking polls aren’t giving Obama a solid lead by next Tuesday, after the long weekend — by which I mean, 6-7 points or more — I will be surprised and nervous.

    -She’s a Washington outsider
-She’s like the neighborhood mother that everyone loves
    -She’s fought against corruption
    -She’s a woman
    -She’s respectful
-She has sensible energy plans, feeds into the economy and energy independence
-She can be used as a card against the experience issue of Obama when vetted
-Governs over “small town, Western” Alaska
    -Executive experience
-She’s a fighter, similar to Sen. Clinton, in that she took on popular men in Alaska
-Forces sympathy vote for McCain when people try to imply that he may die in office at any moment
    -Downplays the “change” candidate
-Downplays the “Dick Cheney effect”. Picking an inexperienced candidate that is nothing like Dick Cheney calms voters over any issues over the power of the Vice Presidency
-Great family, husband and kids – can easily relate to “regular” folks because she’s one of them.
-Social conservative, the base will like her and at the same time, look open-minded.
    -She’s pretty and outgoing
-Forces the sexists like Olbermann, Matthews, Cafferty to be dismissed if they maliciously attack her. It shows that their attack on Hillary weren’t because she’s Hillary (ridiculous), but b/c she’s a woman.
-Good debater, Biden is overrated imo and he will look ugly if he shows his real personality
-Foreign policy is an overrated topic for the VP, it only reinforces Obama’s lack of experience. Energy and the economy will be the main issue.
-Arguably has done more than Obama in her short time
-Halts the spotlight on Obama’s nomination.

    I think it’s a brilliant pick, a game changer.

I wept for my late mother listening to Sara.

BHO set out simply to win the Democratic nomination. His election algorithm calculated just to rise to the top the democratic party. Why? Well GOP policy failure, leadership & GOP corruption. Essentially any Democrats path to the White House was paved courtesy of Mr. Bush & Mr Cheney.

McCain can now begin to define himself in his own context. He needs to say Iraq wouldn’t have been his choice. He voted with the GOp as did many democrats did. AS Barack and Hillary did with the president. Hindsight says he could have done more. Now he will have the chance to do more.

He needs to say that the corrupt will be driven out of government, out of the private sector, and out of the country. Color, sex, religion, race doesn’t come into play except by those who would divide us.

I was watching McCain break the news with my youngest daughter.

As soon as he acknowledged Sarah Palin as his pick, I stood up and cheered!

I turned to ask a question of my Daughter and what I saw brought tears to this man’s eyes!

She was crying at the news!

    Her tears humbled me.

I now fully understand just how important it is for a woman to shatter this last barrier in our political culture.

Her tears spoke volumes to me.

The Democratic Party has just lost 12 female voters in this family with McCain’s pick.

You see, my family have been lifelong Democrats. Going as far back as I can, we have always supported Democrats. What happened to Hillary really angered the women of my household. The RBC and the DNC showed them that they “Never” really mattered to them. What was done to Hillary by Obama, his campaign and the Media really left a bad taste in all of our mouths.

Today, the Democratic party has lost 12 of the strongest women voters I know.

Today, McCain just won the hearts of the women in my life.

Jason: The has actually been working 24/7 as Governor of Alaska for 20 months, plus nearly eight more years in deputy mayor and mayoral duties. Obama has eight years of PART-TIME duties in the Illinois sentate (55 hours per year) and just over 100 days of work as a senator in Washington before his campaign began.

Blowbots won’t find anything to milk, it’s a dead end story if one takes the time to look into it.

As for the State Trooper who tasered an 11 year old, the idiot should be in jail. It’s HIM and HIS surrogates that cried foul because somebody in Palin’s office took it upon themselves to complain about this taser trooper. It would have been a non-story except for the fact that the trooper is married to Palin’s sister, hence a complete investigation must be done. Palin has FULLY cooperated with the investigation and in fact has suspended the person in her office that made the complaint against the trooper for 3 months.

Meanwhile the trooper got a 5 day suspension , go figure. The trooper in my view deserves a beat’in for tasering an 11 year old kid.

    Anyway’s , a dead end story, LAME.

  • http://hillarynme.wordpress.com/ sportsone234

This post is spot on. The silver fox McCain, is also one sly fox. Palin is a great pick. Brilliant.

BTW, anyone notice the lack of class coming from the Obama campaign immediately after McCain’s choice for VP was announced?

Yesterday, McCain tells Obama,”job well done on the evening of his acceptance speech.” Instead of a gracious response to McCain’s choice, Obama’s attack dogs were out 5 minutes after the announcement.

They say class will out and that was demonstrated, yet again.

  • Ash

Well, she’s under investigation for abuse of power, which is, you know, a real crime. And what happened to all the braying about Obama being unqualified?

Obama doesn’t have to hit Palin’s lack of experience. McCain just lost that experience as a campaign issue. He’s a 72-year-old candidate with health problems who has just picked an unqualified woman with ethical concerns to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office. She has less than half the experience as governor as Obama does as a senator, and before that she was a part-time small-town mayor.

Hillary supporters should be insulted by this obvious pander.

  • Peggy Sue

Because it will defeat the latter-day Democratic Party that turned its back on everything I believe: honesty, respect and integrity.

It’s not about Hillary Clinton anymore. The Dems need to clean their own house. And after listening and reading every foul-mouthed thing you Obamatrons tossed out about women in general, every smarmy comment Obama made on the campaign trail, I will pull the lever for McCain with pleasure and hope another loss will make my former party, the Dems, wake-up.

  • OBushMA!

You know what the Obamacrats are gonna do. They are going to play the RACE CARD. See, Alaska doesn’t have many blacks; therefore, it’s a racist state, and the governor who’s white must be racist, too. See Obama logic. OED.

Oh, and as a resident of one of Obama’s “gun-toting, religion clinging, working class” States, Palin’s a good choice for us.

I may not agree with everything she stands for, but she is impressive. I just email John McCain’s website a thank you for listening, approving his choice of VP, and assuring him of my vote – and that fact that even though he had it this year – I wasn’t going to become Republican!

Jason give it up. You sound weak. if you were so concerned about this issue, you would have voted for Hillary in the first place.

Now you have a canidate whom rejected a woman VP and one that accepted one. It is was it is.

If you don’t want to vote for anti-gay marriage, newly-pro-drilling, pro-choice – only if the woman can prove she-ain’t-got-the-blues, nine millimeter Barack, that’s your problem.

(oops. The nine millimeter didn’t refer to Barack’s pistol caliber. It referred to length.)

  • csuzeq

If Obama had any sense of all (ignoring the fact that he is a con man), his best political savvy would have told him to choose Hillary clinton. She won 18,000,000 votes for crying out loud! Biden won 9,000. Wow. Does that show stupid, poor leadership, I don’t want to win and be for all people? In my mind his choice with Biden showed a failure to lead more than anything else. McCain’s choice showed he has been paying attention and he is more politically savvy than many give him credit. I want the guy who knows how to get the job and how to keep it. Obama proves neither. McCain proves both.

For me a President is not just about the issues. That is important only if you trust the guy to pull it off. I do not trust Obama. I do not respect Obama. Those things cannot be substituted with, “But I am with the party of your issues” when the democratic party shows corruption, the condoning of sexism and racism, and that they are not to be trusted and cannot seem to learn how to lead. I have to go with true leader here and then will still fight for the issues I care about, but honesty, patriotism, good judgement and experience do count for alot in my book!

Actually I do care what a candidate believes, and all I can say is BHO believes:

That a twenty-year affiliation with TUCC is OK
That steering public housing construction and management contracts to Rezko is OK
That working with unrepentant domestic terrorists is OK
That bullying old women at caucuses is OK
That giving the finger to a former first lady and fellow senator is OK
That running as an anti-war candidate, trashing your opponent’s ONE Vote, then picking as VP another senator who cast the same exact vote is OK

If you’re OK with that, then vote for him.
    I’m not, so I won’t.
    OK?

  • Uña de Gato

Yes, let’s talk about ethical concerns, after Palin fired a state trooper, her ex-brother in-law, who beat his wife and tased his 11-year old son. Let’s compare that to Obama’s connections in Chicago and Gaza. Ash, you are burnt. Blow away.

  • Liz B

If he points out her inexperience to be VP, he opens the door to discuss his experience to be POTUS.

Couldn’t help thinking of Hillary today, this has got to be a bittersweet moment for her, I know Obama will really need to use her now more than ever, God I hope she tells him she’s going on a nice, long Hawaiian vacation…I’m sure BO will understand.

  • wodiej

I admit I too got choked up when I heard Palin would be McCain’s VP. I am at work but am sure I will let it all out when I get home. I haven’t been able to hear Palin’s speech but will do it as soon as I get home.

Kudos to the real men who not only got choked up but can admit it. Bravo to you!

  • Darryl

Actually they are effectively dead locked in a corner now. They can’t use race against McCain because he has adopted ethnic children (something event he news doesn’t talk about).

The only card Obama had left was the woman issues card and now that is gone. Obama is a dead horse litterally. He is naked and bare for all the world to see.

The thing I didn’t count on was the immediate sexist backlash. All the women he tried to woe to his side are now lost to him forever. He is completely gone now. Lost. Very very tragic.

  • Lin

Abortion is a dead issue to people. You are trying to give it weight to detract from the enormous blow we, the Democratic Party, took today with McCain’s choice.

And as far as parents getting involved in a minor’s decision goes, while I might agree with you, most Americans – voting Americans – do not. That is the reality.

  • Uña de Gato

It was actually featured on the Fox bio that they did on Obama, and they even tried to interview this character, who is currently a bike messenger in NYC. How soon before he ends up having a terrible accident, I wonder.

  • Monet

Senator McCain is running such a masterful, skilled campaign there’s no way the image of a doddering old man who can’t find his eyeglasses or his homes will stick to him. He’s a wily old fox who has been around the block. He’s sitting back, amused by the Obama campaign’s moves and countering each one decisively, cleanly and expertly with ease, intelligence, humor and a lack of back stabbing.

Last night when the airwaves should have been dominated by talk about Senator Obama’s acceptance speech, Senator McCain’s congratulatory ad was discussed every half hour. He graciously praised Senator Obama on his accomplishment and then said tomorrow I’m going back to knocking you off the political landscape. Today? Are the airwaves talking about Obama’s speech? His elegant and gorgeous setting for an acceptance speech with 85k in the audience? Nope. They’re making a few comments that Senators Obama and Biden are on their way to Pennsylvania to campaign, but no one cares.

What people care about today and are showing interest in is an announcement and a couple of speeches in a Dayton, Ohio parking lot. Once again, Senator Obama has been upstaged by a woman. And this woman has been a governor for less than two years, has five kids (one who is a special needs 4 month old infant) and one would have to find a tribal leader on a South Pacific island to find someone further geographically and in leadership from Washington politics.

So far, the main criticism of Palin is that she’s inexperienced and pro-life. True, she has only two years of big time politics. But her years of small time politics and as governor shows so far a politician who racked up success after success. Not a faux politician who spent his years climbing the ladder cultivating associations with nefarious individuals instead of actually working to build a resume of successful accomplishments.

Then there’s a whole pro-life thingy. Polls are showing that pro-choice women list abortion as a low priority on their list of issues this election season. They have passports and frequent flyer miles, if Washington decides abortions are a no-no, they’ll take a trip outside of the country.

Another brilliant move on Senator McCain’s part. He’s invited the evangelist conservatives, the NRA, the left behind soccer moms, pro-choice feminists and the pantsuit brigade to the same picnic table on Labor Day weekend and they’re all going to flock there with their lemonade, potato salads and apple pies. Senator Obama is somewhere in Pennsylvania with a full pitcher of Kool-aid, quenched followers and no one in line to take a sip.

Don’t mean to be crude, but I need to post this – just in case any of us have forgotten how “progressive” those obots are. Here are but a few of their posts I picked up this morning – about Palin (got them from Cannonfire as I never go over to those places occupied by ugly orange insects anymore):

    - What a witch.

    - pouty lips..She probably had her lips Lipoed !

    - Blond No.3

    - Palin, the Trophy Veep

    - Sure to bring in the Hillary supporters… She does have a vagina, after all.

    - she has boobs so women will vote for her.

    - Anybody for muff-diving ??? Third favorite indoor sport for Alaskans. Its winter.

I’m posting some of them because they’re so representative of the ugly, pubescent, stupid, hateful, misogynist mentality of these “new democrats” who think they belong in the White House.

I also think we need to collect these comments and send them on to the McCain/Palin campaign or the RNC or some of the 527s or whatever – they’ll know what to do…

  • csuzeq

The democratic party needs to lose this year, tear themselves down to bear bones and rebuild and regroup. They are not up to the task of leading this nation. They proved that when they took control of congress and withered it away. Accomplishements of 2006 elected congress? Next to zero, just like their phony hero!

Go back to the drawing board Dems, John McCain will lead while you educate yourselves and stop with your bigotry!

  • Grail Guardian

Not sure if that was snark or not, but just in case I want to be sure you know that Palin fired the State Police Commissioner because he didn’t fire a cop (her brother in-law) after he tasered the 11 year old and beat Palin’s sister up. That’s what the “investigation” is over – because the scumbag that didn’t get fired was her brother in-law.

BTW – she welcomed the investigation and has cooperated fully with the Democrat that’s heading it up. And the commissioner was a hold-over from the former Governor, and serves only at the pleasure of the Gov. so the only possible issue here is that the abusive cop was beating on her family. I personally have no problem with her firing him for that.

  • Darryl

This is misinformation by the news. She actually has been a mayor for 14 years prior to her governship.

She really has 15 years of administrative experience. Obama and Biden have 0 days of admin experience.

  • OhioMary

I have family who live in Alaska. Palin’s brother-in-law tasered his 11 year old step son. That is what that investigation is all about. She wanted him fired (he was a police officer) and his commander wouldn’t get rid of him, so the Commander was fired. The brother-in-law is still a police officer. The brother-in-law also threatened Palin’s father if he got a lawyer for his daughter (Palin’s sister) and the father got a lawyer anyway. People in Alaska support her.

Inexperience? I think Mayor or a small town still wins over “community organizer” and Governor will beat out 143 days as a “Senator” as far as the ability to administer any day of the week. And they are talking about their shameless choice for the #1 spot. I love it that she’s a terminator for corruption while Barry is swimming in it and owes his very political existence to just that. Clean house, Sarah.

  • Darryl

They conviently leave out the 14 years of being a mayor.

  • J.J.

Palin helps Hillary in two ways. Win or not, Americans will become more accustomed to the idea of a woman president. Most of the people out there who would not have voted for Hillary because she was a woman are….surprise, surprise, Republicans. They will be voting for McCain/Palin. And that will put still more cracks in the glass ceiling.

Second, Palin helps McCain win. If he wins, Hillary is the front-runner for 2012.

  • sfhillary

After last night? Not in the slightest. In fact, I am more confident than ever. The Gallup daily poll is now at 8 points. Rasmussen is at 3 points. And neither number contains any respondents who saw Obama’s speech last night, so I expect those numbers to stretch further. I wrote that if Obama isn’t up by 6 or 7 early next week I’ll be nervous. Honestly, I think the number could be bigger. And if the early response from McCain’s base is any indication, his VP pick may very well backfire and cause him problems on defense — defending his own base — let alone get him on offense.

You PUMAs are really kidding yourselves if you don’t see that this has been a disastrous week for the McCain campaign. And with Gustav bearing down on New Orleans their convention is looking like a disaster. The President himself is looking for excuses to bail out. So it becomes ever more likely that Obama’s convention bounce, which is looking like it will be big, will not be mitigated by a GOP convention bounce. All of which puts enormous pressure on McCain to defeat Obama in the debates — really make Obama look bad, unpresidential — and I don’t mean to PUMAs, I mean to most people — and I personally do not believe he’s up to the task.

Watch those tracking polls. The numbers tomorrow will tell us whether Obama, at least in the short term, “made the sale” to the American public that he is ready to be president.

Today’s #s are Rasmussen +3, Gallup +8. Tomorrow’s #s will reflect one day of polling after Obama’s speech. We’ll see which direction the numbers go.

But — am I nervous? No. Reading how Republicans are reacting to the Palin pick, I couldn’t be happier. I think McCain is in deep trouble.

  • Steve

Obama’s slogan is “Change you can believe in”

Obama slaps McCain’s age and blames the “same old tired Washington system” for all the problems.

Obama points out that his candidacy is historic.

Obama picks Mr.Foreign Policy as running mate, a 65-year old white bloke with more than 30 years in the Washington system.

McCain picks the youngest governor of Alaska who, by the way is a female and as far away from Washington as you can get without leaving the USA, beaten only by Honolulu in the distance-to-DC-game.

McCain does not have to point out that a REPUBLICAN! picking a woman for Veep is historic, because that is an earthquake in itself.

Palin is younger than Obama, has more executive experience than Biden and she is the fresh face, not the tired old Washington veteran.

A female Veep from Alaska is “Change you can see”.

    John, that was brilliant!!!

I was hoping for it, but I was afraid that you would play it save with Romney. She does fit to you like a glove, like a female, younger McCain (only better looking ;) ) Compared to that tag-team, Obama-Biden look like out of place like a buddy-buddy comedy were you combine the biggest opposites imaginable together.

The current media buzz makes sure that after this weekend, there will be no American left who does not know who Sarah Palin is.
They speculate that Biden’s faith could appeal to people in Pennsylvania and that his ordinary joe role appeals to the union Democrats.
Palin is rural and proud of it, NRA member, huntress, business woman, hockey mom, down-to-earth, good-looking, intelligent and brings out the best in McCain. Compared to her, Biden’s is a joke.

  • VMorris

    Apparently…

I grabbed my grandson’s robotic Elmo doll and right now it is laughing and rolling on the floor.

I think I am going to order 6 of these from Toys ‘r Us and ship them to Howie, Nancy, Donna, Biden, Barack and Michelle!!!

The only downside of this from my perspective is that it now puts poor Hillary back into the picture. I am sure the Democratic Gestapo is going to yank her out of her cell and make her attack Sarah and try to fix the fine mess Obambi has gotten the Democrats into.

Hillary isn’t good enough for Barack’s VP, but they pull her out everytime they need somebody to clean up after him…..It will be interesting to see how they leverage Hillary now….

  • WildChild

I saw soeBOB0′s speech back in January.

I don’t think it is a good idea to bring this “real crime” up. When asked about this investigation Palin said bring it on. She said she is accountable. Clean? LOL. I’m already hearing rumors in the political world that Palin was not fully vetted by the McCain campaign. She’s already up to her ears in a very personal influence scandal and she leads the government of Alaska, arguably the most corrupt state government in America today. And she’s a Republican — there is hardly a Republican politician in Alaska who isn’t under investigation, or indictment, today.

Clean? Ha ha freaking ha. You’d better pray there’s nothing worse than the attempted-firing family scandal she’s already famous for.

“In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

Now I’m really impressed. Sarah and husband have 5 children. One ready to serve in the military and the last one a Downs Syndrome baby. She knew ahead of time and stayed true to her principles. You are an Obama cult member so what you hear is is filtered through kool-aid.

Jill Hazelbaker has broken it down succinctly:

“It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results — whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for President.”

  • http://! Buzz Latte

It’s about the person now and not the party line. Palin has said that while she is pro-life, she understands that government shouldn’t dictate personal choice.

That’s about a close as you can get. Personal choice. Now that’s freedom, not a dictated law for or against.

Don’t get me wrong I support the Clintons to the end, but this gives Hillary opportunity to be selected to a cabinet post or move on into international affairs.

  • Keep It Up

The “political world” huh? Is that where you live? hah

Palin welcomed the investigation, by the way. Did your talking points memo leave that part off? She basically said she has nothing to hide, so investigate away.

Has Obama said that about ANYTHING in his dubious past? Has he welcomed anyone to investigate, since he has nothing to hide about anything?

Really? Keep lying to yourself, it’s ok if it makes you feel better.

    Looking forward to the debates!

    “uhhhh–uhuhuhuhu..ummmm…uh.. ahhhhh.”

Indeed. I wonder how the pundits will spin this. Perhaps they will quit talking about our “low numbers” and “lack of funds” to really do any damage. Instead of marginalizing us, they should have been paying attention!

I see, now it’s that he didn’t “consider” HRC. If he had considered her and chose someone else, that would have been the problem. And if he had picked her, you all would have abandoned her. This is a hate site. Outside of hating Obama, nobody would be here. Stopping kidding yourselves.

But I’m touched by how moved you are about how Governor Palin improperly used her influence to try and get a state employee fired illegally. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like the worst crime in the world to me, either, though a crime is a crime, and if you’re the governor you’re supposed to avoid breaking the law. But now that you’re finished expressing your revulsion for a man who mistreated his wife, go read more about John McCain’s two marriages. LOL. Hypocrisy at its most self-deluding.

  • Pearl

Wow, I’m jealous of you, Red. Very well said, thank you.

  • Liz B

I don’t disagree with that stance. I have two daughters, one of whom has had an abortion. When I was 17 I got pregnant and my family made me get an abortion; there are so many sides to this issue. I went on to have seven children but I have always supported a Woman’s Right To Choose, but for ME? I am Pro Life.(That’s MY CHOICE!) Did I try to talk my 20 year old out of her choice? No, but did I wish she had not had to do it? Yes. If my daughter had come to me and asked me to take her to her Dr. for her pills, I would have. I take the stance that parents need to be more attuned to their daughters and sons lives, and talk to them honestly about protecting themselves FROM pregnancy, it is a whole lot easier to have that conversation than it is to have to drive them to the abortion clinic or to help them choose a family to give their unwanted baby to. These are the conversations that might have a chance of being heard if a woman gets into the White House. An ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure…but Thank God for the morning after pill…wouldn’t it be nice if there were NO abortions within the next five years? Then this argument wouldn’t have to keep dividing us when there are so many other issues that could unite us.

Nothing I have heard yet sounds terribly serious. But this investigation is ongoing; this report was from about two weeks ago. Nobody knows yet where it leads. I am honestly stunned that McCain made this pick. And when you say you’re looking forward to the debates, you mean you’re looking forward to Sarah Palin discussing foreign policy with Joe Biden? I know I am. Biden reassures that Obama will have seasoned counsel. Palin makes us look at 4-time cancer survivor McCain and tremble. This was a terrible pick.

  • Hopium is the Hopiate We’ve Been Hoping For!

Then there’s a whole pro-life thingy. Polls are showing that pro-choice women list abortion as a low priority on their list of issues this election season. They have passports and frequent flyer miles, if Washington decides abortions are a no-no, they’ll take a trip outside of the country.

Hell, you’ve got to fly to India to get affordable medical care anyway. So what’s the difference?

  • Liz B

You are every woman’s dream! You so get it, and so does my husband and my sons! I know there are 12 women out there who may now be in love with McCain, but I suspect you are still #1 in their books!

McCain’s VP Choice Is Under Ethics Investigation For Abuse Of Power In Alaska»

Palin, who entered office in 2006 after running as a reformer, is touted by conservatives as being “a politician of eye-popping integrity.”

But Palin’s reformer image took a hit last month when she was accused of attempting to get a state trooper fired. That state trooper was her former brother-in-law who had gone through “a messy divorce” with her sister. After the trooper’s boss wouldn’t act on the governor’s request, she fired him. Though Palin says she doesn’t “have anything to hide” and she “didn’t do anything wrong there,” an investigation has found that one of her aides pushed the firing:

Gov. Sarah Palin on Wednesday revealed an audio recording that shows an aide pressuring the Public Safety Department to fire a state trooper embroiled in a custody battle with her sister.

Palin, who has previously said her administration didn’t exert pressure to get rid of trooper Mike Wooten, also disclosed that members of her staff had made about two dozen contacts with public safety officials about the trooper.

Palin’s scandal envelops her in the constellation of scandal-plagued lawmakers currently serving in Alaska. Here’s a brief overview:

Sen. Ted Stevens: Last month, long-serving Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens was indicted by a federal grand jury “with seven counts of making false statements for failing to disclose” gifts of over $250,000 from the oil services company VECO Corp.

State Sen. Ben Stevens (R): The senator’s son, Stevens is being investigated by the FBI for his involvement in “an alleged payment scheme involving fisheries legislation brought by his father.” When VECO’s Bill Allen “pleaded guilty to bribery and conspiracy charges, he stated that almost a quarter of a million dollars in consulting fees paid to the younger Stevens was in fact bribery.”

Rep. Don Young (R): Last year, it was revealed that the senior House Republican was “under criminal investigation” involving “possible political favors for a company in Alaska.” In April, Young’s legal fees exceeded $1 million.

Last week, Palin placed her boards and commissions director, Frank Bailey, on paid leave while the investigation into the suspect firing continues.

Update Last month, after Stevens was indicted, Palin refused to call for his resignation, saying that he had “dedicated his life to the betterment of the state.” She had previously called for another indicted lawmaker to resign.

My husband says BO is the AntiChrist…it started off as a joke…but…

  • Jason

Went nuts why? Because her speech was terrible?

She has been the chief executive of Alaska for 20 months. While neither McCain, Biden or Obama have held an executive title, all of them have much more experience dealing with the types of things the President will have to deal with, like other countries and national affairs.

What exactly has she done as CIC of the Alaskan National Guard? Made decisions to send them off to invade Canada?

    Are you pro-life? She is.

Are you a creationist? She is.

Sounds a lot like Hillary, doesn’t it? Didn’t think so.

I think the abortion issue has really become unimportant because we are tired of it being crammed down our throats. unplanned pregnancy in women my age is rare because if we don’t want a baby, we use birth control. My boyfriend has had a vasectomy so I am good and even if he hadn’t, at 43 years old, I had 2 planned children and 0 unwanted pregnancies.

We are sick of things crammed down our throats, abortion, SCOTUS, and Barack Obama.

Damn this is a woman thing. I am so excited about McCain/Palin!

Huffpo “liberal” bloggers are already savaging Palin.

Running pics of when she ran in the Miss Alaska pagent.

AND one blogger is calling her a VPILF.

Disgusting coming form the DNC! I’m seriously thinking of changing my
    registration to Independent.

McCain was BRILLIANT in this choice.

He stole the DNC Convention momentum.

Now the DNC is on the defensive again.

They have to scramble around to get the media attention.

I laughed my butt off watching MSNBC stumble around today – ummm, ummm, ummm.

They had all their talking points prepared for Romney.

I just PRAY the DNC doesn’t put a gun to Hillary’s head and make her attack Palin.

It will make me sick to my stomach.

  • Jason

So really its not the issues – you don’t care who supports the issues which you believe (because that would be Obama/Biden), its simply because you feel dissed and you want to punish those who hurt your feelings?

Ok, but just remember, in doing so, you are punishing everyone in the country when you pull that lever.

You are supporting the same economic policies that got us where we are today.

You are supporting a senseless, wasteful war.

You are supporting tax cuts for the wealthy.

But as long as it helps your hurt feelings, I guess thats ok.

  • PJ

I’m not insulted – I’m over the top happy.

  • Jason

    Seriously?

Fungible means being of such nature or kind as to be freely exchangeable or replaceable, in whole or in part, for another of like nature or kind.

McCain just looked at all of you and said “I want your vote and I know how to get it. You want a woman, here is a woman.”

W/out regard for the fact that the woman you wanted was NOT freely exchangeable or replaceable by Gov. Palin.

Unless you are as dumb as McCain thinks you are.

“As the media starts asking questions of Palin, which they have refused to ask of Barack, the discrepancy will become apparent and Barack will find himself in the spotlight. If the standard applies to Palin it must apply to Barack.” Well, it ought to. But it didn’t with Hillary, if you remember. Time and again she proved Obama is a Big Zero, but that didn’t matter: the misogynist media were so in love with their tall, photogenic hero of this new American Dream narrative they didn’t bother putting him on the same rack they applied to Mrs Clinton. Why spoil such a wonderful story by getting real?

  • Keep It Up

She basically said she has nothing to hide and welcomes the investigation. Damn straight.

I wonder if Obama had EVER said anything similar about his dubious past.. Has he ever welcomed any investigations into that?

    I wonder why?

You know the world won’t stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way

Caught up in our little lives, there’s not a lot left over
I see what’s missing in your eyes; you’re searching for that field of clover
So show a little inspiration, show a little spark
Show the world a little light when you show it your heart
We’ve got two lives, one we’re given and the other one we make
And the world won’t stop, and actions speak louder

I could not explain my joy this morning when I heard McCain had picked Sara Palin. This week I watched as Hillary gave her speech and I felt so drained knowing that the Democratic Party that she loved and working so hard for would throw her out so quickly. Then I watched Bill another emotional moment. I saw the way each of them looked at the other with sheer pride and I felt that way too. Listening to the rest of the convention a deep sadness took over that just wouldn’t go away. I knew I was going to vote for McCain so it was like my far well to a party that left me standing at a bus stop in the rain.

Now this news has lifted me up I really can not explain the joy. I did not vote for Hillary because she was a women, but for what she stood for. The last few months have been painful, with Obama’s support network demanding we “just get over it” making the wound deeper and deeper, or to pretend we don’t exist because they believe that they don’t need my vote.

I can now say I look forward to pulling the lever in November for McCain and Palin.

  • Keep It Up

Did anyone see that phone interview with Ferraro on foxnews? She said something like she thought 1/3 of Hillary voters will switch to McCain/Palin due to the pick and being “left out to dry” by the DNC..

If anyone has a transcript, please post!

  • ned bulous

Seriously, Larry?!?!?! Obama has far more foreign policy experience and judgement that Harriet Miers, I mean Palin. What was her stance on Iraq? What major decisions of the Bush administration foreign/economic policy does she disagree with?

And anybody who was seriously supporting Clinton in the primaries, are you SERIOUSLY considering casting a vote against everything Clinton stands for? Women’s reproductive rights, gay rights, economic fairness, justice, science, etc. Are you aware that Palin WAS NOT supporting Clinton? That she, in fact, called Hillary CLinton a “whiner” who sets women back?

If you guys are seriously supporting McCain-Palin, then you never supported any of the causes Clinton champions.

  • Mr.Murder

More military facilities are in Alaska than are in Illinois.

She’s been tasked with oversight of oil pipelines in the state as well.

Also, for a state that borders two other countries(how many others can make that claim?) she is the one person looking at technical and infrastructure support that mirrors much of the coming security problems for lands we’re deployed in.

Large state, mainly rural, some peak points to stage development from. Sounds like much of smaller, lighter, doctrine that was established as our deployment model needs someone who grasps the complexities of maximizing small numbers over a larger area. Thisd is a major item within the details of peacekeeping.

Think someone from Alaska could understand the difficulty of pipeline support for a country such as Georgia?

Maybe the EU would appreciate that kind of understanding more, since a lot of oil they’ll use is going through there.

Going to lifestyle choices, she stood by friends to a good degree, that mitigates some of the GOP stance.
Her decision to have a baby, while being Governor, and dealing with other complications, attests a level of personal courage that few have displayed as civilians.

The prospective Commander in Chief for her party can match that kind of faith testing moment in his own regard, he has already and it confirmed his own personal belief.

This is a challenge to the notion of expediency, and to political correctness. It’s a case of people becoming leaders and walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

People who support Obama’s NEW Democratic Party are going to have to face the fact they support a bigoted political party.

Obama supporters used derogatory terms to describe Hillary and her supporters during the primary (and now). Women were referred to derogatory terms, including parts of the female body.

Obama supporters are now doing it to Palin. This is a pattern which clearly shows a misogynistic attitude.

But that’s Obama's NEW Democratic Party. The Misogynist Political Party.

Palin has all the qualities I admire. Integrity and the humility to recognize that you are there to serve the people.

And McCain showed not only his superior judgement by picking Palin, he showed an ability to listen to the people and to respond accordingly. Of course his selection is about pandering to women, it’s also a slap in the face to his conservative base that worried about his pro-choice stance, and it’s a successful attempt to bring some youth and vigor into this campaign.

I Found This Scenario On Another Site and Reposted It Here To See What You Think Of It.

    Picture this scenario…
One month from now, the Palin pick has proven a bonanza for the McCain campaign. A large chunk of Hillary’s 18 million voters have been won over. Conservatives are unified and energized, and the previously-undiscovered “Maxim magazine vote” is suddenly giving McCain large margins among young males.

Joe Biden will disappear from the campaign trail, and we will later learn it was to see a doctor. A previously-undiscovered, vaguely ominous health issue will be discovered, and Biden will sadly announce that he cannot continue as Obama’s running mate. With a sudden need for a new one, Obama will turn… to Hillary Clinton.

    Call it the Torricelli gambit.

Brilliant! What a hoot! Johnny has picked himself a running mate who packs the gear to run the store in the event Johnny becomes incapacitated.

“Sarah Palin for her entire political career has been underestimated,” said Paulette Simpson of the Alaska Federation of Republican Women. “She’s tough, she’s tenacious. I believe that she does have what it takes to get out there. Again, her ability to connect with voters and make a case is very, very, very strong.”

Let the spin begin! The Dems will be so busy attacking her and bush and McCain will keep running those true attack ADS reveiling Obama as the empty suit he is. Before you know it the polls will not mean squat on Novermber 5, 2008.

I believe she will give cause for a few million undecided voters to join the McCain/Palin ticket to win the White House. She may cause a bunch to switch to Obama, but this remains to be seen.

She took on Senator Stevens and Rep. Young of Alaska’s “good ‘ol boys” and the big oil companies while she was going after corruption in government.

Governor Sarah Palin is authentic. Very rare in the political arena. Thus far the only thing in her closet is the incident with her ex-brother-in-law which is under investigation presently.

She has explained her position in the matter and I am satisfied with her explaination. Governor Sarah Palin said, “Make me accountable.”

Obama and his supporters denigrated Hillary and her supporters during the primary (they are clearly misogynist).

Obama refused to have his picture taken with the Mayor of San Francisco last year because the Mayor is pro-gay’s right.

On the other issues: You have been drinking the fool-aid.

Don’t come here and lecture us about social justice when Obama sat in a racist church for 20 years and when the 2000 census revealed dramatic growth in Chicago’s Hispanic and Asian populations alongside a decline in the number of African Americans, the Illinois black caucus was alarmed at the prospect that the number of blacks in the Illinois General Assembly might decline. At that point, Obama stepped to the forefront of the effort to preserve as many black seats as possible.

The Chicago Defender quotes Obama as saying that,

“while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.”

You are not only a bigot but a hypocrite.

    3. I dare Axelrod and Barack, Olbermann and Matthews to watch her appearance (Tennesse Guerilla Women’s site has it!) today with crafty Johnny McCain. Guess what Palin said:

There is no “UPROAR” in the GOP you are quoting dKOS, those guys have no clue what the Republican base thinks. There are cheers and shouts of joy. the Republican base is elated.

A lot more elated with that boner of a pick Biden was for the Dem base.

This pick is a home run. The base likes Palin’s common sense conservatism, independents will like her reformist ways and how she took on GOP corrupt good ol boys (this is a double maverick ticket), and the Hillary voters will have a chance to think twice about which ‘history’ they want to make in November.

This has shown once again that McCain really is a smarter and more qualified man for the President. Palin is ready based on her executive experience as Governor, to be understudy to the ‘ready to lead’ McCain.

  • lainy

I think Mccain has lost his last two marbles – this from marc Ginsberg!!! He said the gasps from the republican party are frightening. When this guy disses Mccain it’s all over. He’s already written an article called “Democrats should be dancing in the street with McCain’s pick of VO” It’s harsh but pretty right on. This bimbo is under ETHICS investigation for ABUSE of POWER!!! Even Scarborough and Pat Buchanan said “she’s definitely the least qualified and Biden will chew her up, spit her out and wipe his brow with her” Buchanan said”Barack got an 8 point bounce already, before the speech numbers are out and with Mccain’s pick it’ll be a 20 point bounce!!! I’m embarrassed for John McCain. Hilary put out a scathing statement about Palin’s experience and her anti-choice rhetoric and her statements about wanting to overturn Roe V Wade. There are very few independent women that will vote for her. The best line is from Campbell Brown from CNN – after she heard Palin speak, she said “well, i think we can definitely call the McCain/Palin ticket the Anti-intellectual Ticket!!! So true So true

I love watching you make a fool of yourself

  • beebop

Palin doesn’t claim to have voted when she wasn’t able to about the war.

As far as that is concerned … her son scheduled to ship out in September. So. I guess you can draw your own conclusions …. But she’s more than a talking face ….

She’s got more real experience in her little finger than Obama has in his whole anorexic resume!

She voted in favour of GAY RIGHTS for partner benefits as Governor and vetoed bill as mayor that would have prevented ABORTIONS! She ain’t an ideologue this gal! She’s just not a xeroxed manchurian candidate….

Palin’s approval rating is 82% and she’s a mother of 5, engages in sports, is on Security committees and has more credentials in foreign-related issues than Barack. She was visiting other countries abroad as Governor way before Barack stood on his phony stage and her experience with Ethics reform and brining down the fat cats up there should count a hell of a lot more than your Obambi’s starring role in youtube’s mega-hit:

“Obama gives Hillary the Finger” –remember his calculated JayZ rapper act where he insults Hillary with his obscene gestures and smirking contempt on stage like an immature teeny bopper!

Hell, SFHILLary, open your OBAMYOPIC eyes and see why your Sweetie will see the Light from the shattered ceiling come November!

Karma’s a bitch, Barack! It’ll come back to bite your anorexic posterior and equally malnourished resume!

You would rather have someone in the presidential slot who funnels money to Rezko and his ilk, and someone who stayed in anti-american church for 20 years. Palin has at least accomplished something in her 18 months as gov of AK. What did she do the with the money she got when she sold the Gov jett when she took office – gave it to the people of Alaska. And did she take the Federal money for the bridge to nowhere – no she refused it and told the Govt if AK needs a bridge, they will pay for it themselves. What’s the matter, Can’t vote for someone who actually will put the good of the American people first?

  • Ash

First, your argument doesn’t so much hold water.

Second, seriously, McCain is misogyny’s poster boy. But, again, don’t let truth get in the way of a good Two Minutes of Hate.

  • tzada

What Barry with his snarky former small town mayor remark didn’t say is this. Alaska is America’s first line of defense against Russia. The two countries are basically less than 70 miles apart. As Alaska’s GOVERNOR she is CIC of the Alaskan National Guard she has tremendous responsibility.

She is a former union member and her husband currently is one. She will appeal to women her age, she who will have mothers who will see images of their own daughters. She is young enough to appeal to some of the college women as well.

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

This post is spot on. The silver fox McCain, is also one sly fox. Palin is a great pick. Brilliant.

Way back before the primaries began a talking heads round table was discussing the upcoming primaries.
Only one of them – David Broder – described McCain as “formidable”. The other pundits present didn’t agree. I guess it takes one silver fox to know another…?

Bingo! You said it like it is! Women personally do not prefer abortion for themselves. But they are prepared to uphold the right of other women to have the choice!

Precisely what Gov. Palin did as Mayor of her town when she blocked a Bill outlawing Abortion!

And Palin got partner benefits for Gays in Alaska by her first Veto as Governor!

She’s a truly INDEPENDENT spirit. Just go to the Tennessee Guerilla Women”s Post and watch the video they posted of Sarah Palin’s first speaking engangment today with McCain.

I couldn’t believe that the Republican (exParty of the Old Boys Club) would have picked this spunky, intelligent, go-get’em-type who’s all fired up about Women’s rights.

Palin’s first statement was to pay homage adn to honor…..”Geraldine Ferraro who was teh first nominated V-P in 1984 and I thank her and of course, Sen. Hillary Clinton whose resilience and grace under fire in teh primaries placed these 18 million cracks for Women’s Equality…and I hope to shatter that glass ceiling with you and make History for women,…”

and this from a Republican woman? Barack should be shaking in his boots right now!

Hillary needs to declare her independence from these cretins. At the very least, take a well deserved vacation with Bill and Chelsea. Sarah Palin can be nothing but good for the Clinton women.

I’ve been trying to get out of the house all morning since I turned on the tee vee. Sent copies of Sarah’s acceptance speech to all my pals who are at work so they can start getting to know her.

Unsubscribed to Huff &Puff and Salon. I don’t give a damn what they have to say…no need to check in on their vitriol…been there too many times already. They are having a fit though! I’m sure that outlawing abortion and teaching creationism positions Palin is known for is going to have broad appeal to democratic women who might otherwise vote for Obama.

In fact, that alone is probably enough for most to disregard both the Clintons’ speeches this week and vote for McCain.

    Martin Revolution,

And Palin today honored Ferraro and Hillary Clinton and mentioned those 18 millin cracks she intends to crack to finish off Hillary’s work that went ignored, vilified and diminished by that MISOGYNIST JERK CALLED BARRY SOETORO (is it Hussein Obamarama?)

This woman will hold her own. She’s obviously smart. Like McCain, she has had some life altering experiences. The American people have had enough of the over-the-top glitz politics. That display last night may have played well in Hollywood (they should give an Emmy to Britney’s stage designer) but it won’t win any hearts in home town America. BO dissing Hill was a huge mistake! LOL

But what transpired was the misogynist media frat-boys’ attacks pushing, with assistance from the Obama Race-baiting-the-Clintons attack, this anorexic resume of BHO to a fraudulent ‘finish’ line of superdels!

A week ago McCain was leading Obama by 2 points in the Gallup poll. Today Obama is leading McCain by 8 points and i think the Palin pick is a joke. A week ago, before our convention started, sure, I was a little nervous, because the polls had dropped into close to a tie and it was clear that a lot of Democrats weren’t sold yet on Obama. Now that the convention is over, the polls are immediately swinging our way as many, many Democrats come home. And McCain is screwing up, and the hurricane is just a nightmare for the GOP’s hopes of having a strong convention.

For real: why would I be nervous now? I am more confident than ever that Obama is going to be elected president, perhaps by a landslide.

I’m not going to link to it here, but I’ve already encountered some so called Dems, alleged progressives, posting photoshopped faked, derrogatory porn about Palin.

I really am rattled about it. There among all of the lectures about how you must vote Dem for women’s rights, sits a cartoon of Palin in a position meant to demean her and reduce to her to something less threatening.

I always understood intellectually the feminist argument against pornography. But now I truly understand it emotionally. It’s a violation of women meant to demean them and reduce their power.

Okay, Anthony. First, please link me to an article talking about NY Obama supporters jumping ship.

Second, the day the mainstream media started talking about why Rezko, Ayers or Wright are still problems for Obama, I will start thinking about them again. The fact that you PUMAs keep bringing them up is not relevant to me.

As for his overnight morphing: in your fantasies. Everything he talked about in that speech last night has been available in the policy section of his website for many months. I’ve been saying all along that Obama and Clinton had very similar platforms; I guess now the PUMAs have finally accepted that reality.

Yeah, yeah, I’m making a fool of myself. Whatever. As long as my man Obama is kicking McCain’s ass back and forth across this continent, which he now is, I’m happy.

  • Obama Hates White Women

Not only did Obama and his minions denigrate Hillary and her supporters, they are are now doing it to another woman.

Hey! Remember Obama’s National Campaign Co-Chair’s statement? Jesse Jackson, Jr. said this to the Washington post about Hillary and Obama didn’t bat an eye:

“The natural reminder here is O.J. [Simpson] — how does an African American candidate attack a white woman?”

Obama states he believes in equal pay but pays the women working in his Senate office less than the men working on his staff. The opposite is true of John McCain.

Wow. There is a lot of obot activity here – much more than usual. It’s clear the obots are scared and see it all slipping away. Sorry obots – McCain’s choice was an act of political brilliance.

  • Keep It Up

Why do you keep talking about being nervous, sfhillary?

Maybe because somewhere deep down inside – although you try hard to repress it – you really are having doubts about Obama? It’s ok, let’s discuss this. There’s still time for you to stand back and review all of this with an open mind.

Usually when someone has to state they are confident they are really masking their true feelings. You’re trying to convince yourself. If you were truly confident, you don’t have to state that at all – it would show through in your words. But it doesn’t. You talk about poll numbers and how the numbers are soothing your doubts. Think about it, do you want your outlook determine by poll numbers? Relax. Think for yourself, it’s really not hard. Stop reading the orange site, stop reading here as well. Take a deep breath.

It’s ok to be nervous. Are you nervous because you are thinking too much, or are you nervous because you are letting other people think for you?

Think for yourself, stop being nervous. Don’t believe everything you see on MSNBC..

  • sfhillary

I live in the media world, which intersects broadly with the political world. A few of you have mentioned that Palin “welcomed” the investigation. How amusing that you consider such a statement likely evidence of innocence. I have no idea what, if anything, the Governor of Alaska has done that violates the law. I just know that if the McCain campaign just nominated her for the vice-presidency without knowing the answer to that question for sure — and at this stage I don’t see how they possibly could — they are, quite possibly, in a lot of trouble right now.

As for Obama: is anyone other than PUMAs even pretending to investigate any of this stuff about Obama? Actually, let me rephrase that: it is a dead certainty that every major newsgathering organization in the United States has put enormous resources into investigating every last aspect of Obama’s life. So far as I know, nobody has come up with anything significant — by definition, nobody has come up with anything that has prevented him from attaining the nomination and taking the lead in the polls with just two months to go. Is it possible that there’s more out there? Sure. But I’m glad I’m supporting the guy who has just passed through eighteen months of detailing vetting instead of the woman whose vetting just began a few hours ago. Get ready for the Palin dirt; it’s coming, probably by early next week, if not sooner.

  • KC

Thanks obot for reminding us again – A vote for Obama was, and is, and always will be, a vote for SEXISM.

As result, next day he appeared on the N.C. stage smirking and performing his JayZ rapper act “giving the finger to Hillary” while dusting and scraping his fellow female senator off his shoes. Now is that the Change we can believe in?!

Guess sweetie will just have to “get over it” with Sarah Palin now on the ticket! A stroke of progressive genius for the Repugnants, at last!

Hillary’s legacy is that she may have humanized the Republican party and pushed it ahead a few light years in accepting the progress women have made in the last 88 years–which Sarah honored in her speech as well as Geraldine Ferarro adn Hillary’s legacy!

PUMAS may be largely invisible but their ROAR OF THE VOTES in November will educate the exDemocratic Party, their Race-bating experts, and the misogynist media creeps that allowed them to get away with Hillary-bashing and fraud….

I just spoke to a friend of mine who is working in a retail store downtown. She said one of her first customers was a couple who, while the wife shopped, the husband, (Hillary Hater) went on a tirade about this inexperienced woman McCain choose. She called me to hear the scoop.

I wonder…if she’s such a push over why would the Obamabots be upset? They are in a tizzy.

The next customers were two women Hill supporters and they were tap dancin’ happy.

  • Keep It Up

    sfhillary, you are not happy.

You know this to be true. It is obvious in your posts. The more you try to tell us – perfect strangers – that you are happy, the more you are lying to yourself.

It’s not healthy to lie to yourself. Next, you be lying to yourself about the lies you already told yourself. Stop living in a hall of mirrors.

It’s similar to how Obama lies to himself, he really doesn’t believe he is lying. Deep down inside, all he really desires is a big, heartfelt hug from his Dad (pick one, either will do). It’s a sad, sad story.

  • JayD

The Obots are really grumpy today. You think it might have something to do with a lack of oxygen? I mean McCain did a marvelous job of sucking the air out of the Obama-god temple within hours of it even being errected. If I were an Obot, I’d be cranky, too, gasping and belching my way toward the Kool-aid tables trying to determine WTF I am to do now.

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Even Scarborough and Pat Buchanan said “she’s definitely the least qualified and Biden will chew her up, spit her out and wipe his brow with her” Buchanan said”Barack got an 8 point bounce already, before the speech numbers are out and with Mccain’s pick it’ll be a 20 point bounce!!! I’m embarrassed for John McCain.

Scarborough – jealous of Gov. Palin’s husband
Buchanan – Seriously, does “lainy” know that Pat Buchanan is the crazy old attic uncle of the GOP?
Pat “let’s get rid of all the Joos and illegal aliens” Buchanan?

Obama said he was going to address all the issues.

Why hasn’t Obama addressed the illegal Hamas contributions he has accepted? The funds have not been returned according to FEC filings.

Why is Obama employing ACORN associated businesses to help with voter turnout. Isn’t ACORN under investigation?

    REALLY

Please really PALIN IS NOT ANTI-CHOICE! ‘

    PALIN IS PRO-GAY RIGHTS AND PRO-ABORTION. Personally she is against abortion but as Mayor of her Town she blocked a Bill outlawing Abortions;
    and
Palin got Partner Benefits for Gays in Alaska by her first Veto as Governor!

Palin’s a maverick, independent spunky, journalism grad, serves on many national Arms and foreign committees and is a Mother of 5 kids! How much more do you need, eh?

She’s traveled abroad officially more than Obamarama and she’s got 82% approval rating, the highest in the US, and the Idnependents think she’s a dynamo!

Check out Tennessee Guerilla Women’s video of her speech where she praised Ferraro and honored Sen. Hillary Clinton and her 18 million cracks.

    Palin’s not a Repubican! She’s Independent!
McCain scored bigtime with this smart choice!

Pumas forced his hand on this! But McCain’s a real maverick and likes to do his pranks unsuspectingly…he’s got the gleam in his eye, the old fox…too bad Barky was too obamyopic to see the stupidity of his sexist ways…

Oh my, that explains a lot, doesn’t it? yes, it does. I agree with you, though that Obama has not been vetted. Oh, that’s not what you said? Really?

Of course not sf, you didn’t say that. The doubts in your mind about Obama (“Is it possible that there’s more out there? Sure.”) have been clumsily projected onto that of Palin. Your gusto in relishing the “dirt” that is “coming” on her is really showing a self-doubt of your own candidate. By pivoting your apparent doubt onto another, your unconscious is making a feeble attempt to suppress your own doubts.

That’s ok, sf. That’s a normal reaction, children do that all the time: “Yeah, but your ____ is a ____ too!”

But is it really ok to live in a “media” world, as you state? That’s the unhealthy part about all of this. Can you be healthy?

I find McCain’s choice of Palin really insulting and offensive.

  • mimi

If this is what they’re investigating, I hope they tell that story loud and clear.

Can you imagine any woman in America looking down at another woman for firing her brother-in-law, an ex-state trooper for beating his wife and tasering his 11 year old son.

    Be still my heart!

Oh please let’s have the msm talk about that.

I find it interesting that the investigation was mentioned this morning but not neary another word about it for the rest of the day. No wonder. The Obama-loving msm won’t go nowhere near that with a 10ft pole.

    I’m happy with this choice.

McCain had to shore up his base first and foremost. He can’t rely on Hillary’s supporters who might change their minds at the last minute.

He also has moved away from Bush with this choice. It was bold and he has commanded the news cycle ALL DAY! I know the 0bama campaign wanted to see his speech rerun endlessly today. But McCain trumped him and it’s been wall-to-wall coverage of his surprising choice.

(FYI, I took myself off black-out today to follow the story and it’s been worth it.)

As far as experience, well the msm keeps trying to push the narrative about 0bama having been in the Senate 4 years. Let me clear that up:

    Elected Nov 2004
Sworn in and started his term Jan 2005
    Announced his candidacy Feb. 2007
Has been running for POTUS since then

In the meantime, Gov Palin has been actually on her j-o-b, governing, balancing budgets, getting ethics reform, CiC of Alaska’s National Guard who’ve had tours in Iraq.

Oh and did I mention, she had a baby in April and is the mother of 5 kids, the oldest son is going to Iraq on Sept 11. And unlike those Republican chickenshithawks who want war, but won’t send their own children to war.

As far as foreign policy is concerned, how much does 0bama who’s at the top of the ticket have? Oh yeah, he had a crash course rock tour in Europe this summer. How’d that work out for him? At least she visited the hospital in Germany.

Ultimately, it’s about me and my vote and the fact that I REFUSE to give it to the Democratic Party for what they did by SELECTING 0bama and pressuring and buying of SDs to make him the nominee. BTW, Botheads, the SDs DID decide the nomination. So much for Donna Brazile. Is she going to quit the Party now?

If 0bama had wanted a landslide win and to neutralize McCain, he should have swallowed his pride and picked Hillary.

Even though I was among the many who said I would not have voted for him even with Hillary on the ticket, I now realize that come Election Day, that would have been difficult for me to do. I’m glad she’s not on the ticket, but 0bama made a mistake.

The msm pundits can trivialize McCain’s choice all they want. They can try to push the meme that women aren’t interchangeable and they are half-right. But it’s hard not to be impressed with a woman who seems to be a trailblazer.

  • another dem bites the dust

Obama didn’t think enough of Hillary to ask her to be his VP. That is the insult.

  • sfhillary

You think I’m defending an abusive husband? You’re the idiots who are about to vote for one, and McCain is the idiot who picked a VP candidate who is under an active ethics investigation. I have no idea what the story is about, but FYI: just because this guy was an abuser who deserved to be fired or even jailed does not mean that Palin’s actions were ethical, or legal. The difference matters. As you poor Republican saps may be about to find out.

Round Two Began At 12:02 EST Today.

In This Corner Is Obama, The DNC and The Corrupt Media.

In That Corner is Sara And PUUUMMMAAAAA!

What Sarah said today was spot on!
If Hillary had not run many of us would not be in this fight.

I jumped in when they trashed Ferraro as a “racist”.

I became a Hillary admirer when she kept taking those terrible beatings every night and getting back up and getting back in the fight.

When Sara said the women of America are not finished yet, I jumped right up and shouted because I knew 18,000,000 Pumas were spoiling for a rematch.

This is your chance to really kick some major butt.
This time around you will be ready for them.

    What’s different this time??
    You know what to expect.

You know that to just sit back complain and take it and complain some more when “nobody does anything”.
it’s called “Thumb Sucking” it solves nothing and and it stops now.

This time You are going to do the doing and they are going to do the thumb sucking.
    .
Go after Olbermann, MSNBC, Their CEO, and Stockholders.

Some of those Stockholders of –
G.E. isn’t it? –must be Women.

Some PUMA on this site some where should be able to get Stockholders IDs.

Lets get to them, lets kick Keith’s ass and get the little klans man fired for his hate speech.

McCain has given PUMAs the opportunity to finish this fight.
Beat the bastards so far down that they will never consider taking on a woman again.

I do not fault African Americans for the fear and respect that the media has shown Barack. That has been hard won by them in the trenches. I respect them for that.

Well here is PUMAs War and There are your Trenches.
Get down there in the mud and take this fight to the Obams, The DNC, And the Sexist Media. No one is going to do it for you.

This week is woman’s right to vote week.
That means that some women, scared, powerless, defied family and friends and stood up to the powers that be, for you 88 years ago.

Girls not yet born will point to this moment 88 years from now and will thank you for advancing the ball for them.

Have plans to Purge the DNC and the Party after they are crushed in November.

Get some PUMA talking points and some PUMA ‘Talking Heads” and DEMAND equal time for Womans issues on every program of every network.

No let up until after election day.

Start today contacting the net work demanding air time for PUMA Talking Heads to replace sell outs like Andria Mitchell..

If they refuse , storm their studios. Get ugly, get arrested and then do it all over again and again.

For as long as it takes, do what ever it takes.

Let them know, “No Justice, No Peace.

Get mad,Get organized, and stay at their jugular.

Hey! If you are not having fun yet, you are doing it wrong.

PUMA is here for Sarah and “Never Again” because you cared enough to get mad and organized back in May.

Now here you are with just the right political instrument at just the right moment in time in the History of the Oldest and most Powerful Republic the World has ever known.

If you listen real hard, you can almost hear the tic of the clock of Destiny calling to you.

You have the ability, the will and the tools to finish the job.

    Good Luck PUMAs

Okay: a year and a half ago she was the part-time mayor of a small rural Alaskan town. Now McCain, at age 72, having survived multiple cancers, says she is ready to be commander in chief? And that’s assuming there’s no scandal secret waiting to pop out? Big mistake, the more I think about it. Huge. I think he just torched his campaign.

    Christina, your time is up.

    You’ve outed yourself.

Your trend of asking people to provide press about things they clearly said they heard from friends, etc. is your giveaway.

I congratulate you, and please don’t take that lightly. I’m usually never impressed with abject stupidity, but I must say that you’ve put that in a brand new light for me.

There’s not much of a difference since women are already leaving the country for elective surgery. If abortions are banned, Aruba or another Caribbean Island will probably become the abortion capital of the world. Sun, sand, margaritas and no more unplanned pregnancy.

Do they really think in this global society that we’re all that worried? In many parts of the country women have to drive five or more hours for an abortion.

  • sfhillary

By the way, in my early reading about her, I’ve learned that she is also a hardcore creationist. Yeah, that’s what America wants in 2008 — to double down on numbnuts, anti-rationality evangelical lunacy in our federal government. Sure. You guys go have fun with your nutball Republican ticket. Even the new generation of evangelicals are moving away from this crap (see Rick Warren, et al). You don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning this election.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/29/155145/681/530/579154

Another government employee who got abruptly fired, this time because he was dating the ex-wife of a friend of Todd Palin’s.

That makes two people who got shitcanned from government for personal reasons directly related to the Governor. Do I have three? Anyone? If we can find a third over Labor Day weekend, Palin will be off the ticket by the end of the week.

I heard Rush this morning. This ain’t his year. Mark my words, Palin is a disaster just waiting to be Googled.

In less than five hours Sarah has taken a hit far worse than anything delivered to Hillary.

I promise you that you do not want it repeated here.

    PUMAs, Get these bastards!
Every woman in America should rally around you and crush Obama and the DNC for doing this.

Any woman with an ounce of Gender Pride working at the Kos and Camp Obama should walk out now.

    No Quarter,

  • mimi

That rationale might fly had McCain just picked any old woman. He didn’t. This one seems really special. She is definitely a trailblazer. When she walked on stage the first thing I noticed was real confident body language.

She’s sure of herself, comfortable with who she is. She seems to have good ‘horse’ sense. People nowadays ridicule such things, but after going through 8 years of a corrupt adminstration, after going through a corrupt campaign with Caucus fraud and a nominee who makes mistatements, is evasive, who flip-flops, who has shown disdain for people, especially women and whose resume is lacking, a person who runs on judgement, but didn’t have the judgement to leave a church for 20 years, or the judgement to choose his associates, I’ll take ‘horse’ sense over a mysterious Columbia University education and a Harvard Law Review editor who didn’t even write one article, any day.

Barack is at the top of ticket with no foreign policy experience. Palin is at the bottom with the same amount. McCain is 72, but like all presidents and this includes 0bama, he’ll have an administration. 0bama is going to have to depend on his administration too.

I think McCain’s choice indicates that he’s a realist. Would he have had a real shot at winning had he picked someone else? Romney? Huckabee? Pawlenty? Jindal?

With Palin, he has a real shot at winning. It’s up to her to show if she is smart.

  • Jason

You can’t wait for O to trounce McCain or you can’t wait to see Biden destroy Palin? Not clear from your post.

  • sfhillary

Wow, I have my own homage screen name, huh? Neat. Your invocation of Palin’s qualities is nice. She seems like a bright young lady. The idea of her becoming president in a few months’ time, which is what one must consider when the top of the ticket is a 72-year-old with recurrent health problems, is laughable. Her selection is an indicator of desperation on McCain’s part. He probably chose her in response to Hillary’s great speech on Tuesday night, thinking Palin might bring in disaffected Hillary Democrats. I’ll let the polls over the next few days tell us whether those Democrats were convinced by Obama last night to return to the Democratic Party. If you’re lucky, the scandal stuff won’t destroy Palin immediately and she’ll have a chance to make her case in the VP debate against Biden.

  • Jana

Yes! And not a teleprompter in sight.

Does anyone think Biden may be “practicing” his (mis)demeanor for debating a woman?

Nothing like seeing a blowhard walking on eggshells to elicite a comedy of errors.

This campaign just got SOOO much fun!

  • Joy

Which is more than McCain has.

  • Jana

    Mrs. Palin Goes to Washington!

    I love it!

  • sfhillary

I’m just responding to you, Keeper. No doubts about Obama here. The campaign he has run for the past eighteen months speaks to his executive leadership abilities. No leaks, no in-fighting, one battle plan, relentless discipline, supreme confidence at every step of the way, and the results speak for themselves: he has just a flawless convention, ceded the spotlight for two nights to the Clintons, who helped bring the Democratic Party together, raised the ante on himself to the maximum with a regal stadium acceptance speech and then proceeded to hit what most observers consider a home run — and challenged McCain directly, man to man, to debate who was the proper leader of America.

I think Obama is a remarkable, once-in-a-generation leader. I think he will win this election and, working with a heavily Democratic Congress, has a chance to change this country profoundly, for the better. He just told the country, quite specifically, what he intends to do. Do you object to any of it? Or do you just think he’s lying about everything? And if so, why?

  • Ai1een

    sfhillary –
You think we’re worried about scandal? Believe me, you’re the one who should be worried about scandal. Obama’s as corrupt as they come.

  • Jana

I’m not sure…but something tells me they WON’T admire her for NOT getting an abortion when she knew about the Downs Syndrome.

    Twisted, yes, but not untypical.

  • deke

sfhillary the depth of your stupidity is breath taking. You talk about scandal but your boy is so deeply mired in it that it will make teapot dome seem like a minor inconvenience. The desperation move was the selection of Biden. I am a life long democrat who has voted for the democratic nominee in every election since 1972 but I owe my allegiance to my country not my party. When a dangerously unqualified candidate runs for the most powerful office in the world it is my responsibility is to make sure that person is not elected, Obama represents nothing more than Bush in democratic clothing. You are not a democrat our party is better than what we are seeing from the current batch of pretenders your action just demonstrates you know nothing about progressive causes or the history of the democratic party. You are nothing but a typical front running fan without any causes just what is fashionable at the current time. Do some research and find out how dangerous Obama will be to this country, support of FISA, expansion of faith based initiatives, continuation of the Bush Cheney energy policies, privatization of SS, and the list goes on. McCain is not my choice for President but as Biden said back in February,”the country would be well served with McCain as chief executive.

The Republican convention hasn’t even begun yet so your 8 points are null and void. He should already be up by 15 – he’s not – he got his bounce from Hillary and Bill’s speech.

  • Blue Intrigue

Yeah, nobody cares that you think! Thinking is elitist! None of us here think. Haven’t you been reading? Jeez, stop thinking and join the PUMAs!

  • Blue Intrigue

If her experience as mother of 5 kids would also count as much as these asshole male senators who don’t give a shit about Family, children’s and women’s issues, we’d have a woman-controlled congress/senate!

But when you put that up against Joe Biden, who travels from Delaware to DC and back every day because of his family, wrote the Violence Against Women Act, is solidly pro-choice, voted against radical right-wing judges – it’s kind of a wash, don’t you think?

  • Joe Biden’s hair plugs speak out!

That makes two people who got shitcanned from government for personal reasons directly related to the Governor.

The one case we’ve been discussing is that of the brother-in-law who was a wife and child batterer. Personal reasons? I’m going to assume that wife abuse is considered assault in Alaska, and there are statutes prohibiting child abuse. So there goes your theory about “personal reasons”.
(Unless of course you are of the neanderthal opinion that what a man does to his loved ones in his own home is his own business.)
AS far as the other state employee being fired, the McCain team thoroughly vetted their Veep choice. Governor Palin was chosen partly because of her record as a reformer and a maverick who spoke truth to power against her OWN PARTY…sound familiar? It appears Governor Palin has something in common with the PUMA group.

Anyone? If we can find a third over Labor Day weekend, Palin will be off the ticket by the end of the week.

In your dreams, buddy, or psychotic hallucinations, such as the case may be. You really do need to wake up out of your SoeBama slumber. Or stay asleep. Whatever floats your boat, sir poster who uses a despicable sexist smear website as support for his ridiculous claims.

    Thanks Grail !:)
    I stand corrected.

Just as a matter or record, “Peggy Hill” is one darn smart woman on that show-often smarter than her husband.

But focus on looks-that would be the intellectual level of a number of Obama supporters.

  • Y.

I find the reason for your confidence misplaced. After all, Bush&Rove had run a good campaign twice, and no one would say Bush was a good president.

  • Northwest rain

Watching the sexist responses from the Trolls simply reinforces the reason NOT to vote for Obama.

Thanks again Obamabot trolls for clarifying the reasons why Soetoro-Obama is unacceptable as as President.

    Other reasons for NOBAMA

His long list of associates – Ayers, Rezko, Rev Wright – Mrs. Obama etc etc etc

Obama is LAZY. Obama, the male, gets so tired campaigning he needs vacations. Sarah Palin has a baby and is Governor of a State during the time Obama needed TWO vacations.

Right now he is up 8 in Gallup and up 3 in Rasmussen. Neither of those numbers reflects polls done done, after his speech. So if he doesn’t go up any more in the next couple of days, then we can conclude that his speech didn’t help him much.

But the 15 point number is absurd. No convention has given any kind of bounce like that in a generation. If Obama is up 5 points or more a week after the GOP convention, I will be extremely happy.

You’re feeling optimistic about the McCain convention, huh? I wouldn’t be. What do they have to say? McCain has to run away from everything the GOP has done over the past eight years while simultaneously endorsing a platform that advocates continuing to do most of the same things — in Iraq, on taxes, on education and health care, and so on.

Good luck with all that. I think you Republicans are going to get crushed in two months.

  • sfhillary

A brilliant choice, huh? Well, I won’t waste any more time trying to explain why you’re wrong. Time will tell.

  • sfhillary

I’m not really sure what you’re driving at. You’re obviously trying to do a little psychoanalytic number on me — the word you’re looking for is projection. I suppose it is theoretically possible that I have projected my unconscious fear that some horrible secret about Obama is going to to come out over the next two months onto Palin in my laughing over the fact that a virtually unknown political figure currently facing two overlapping ethics investigations of uncertain outcome has been nominated to run for the vice presidency. But it isn’t likely. My joy at the Palin pick has primarily to do with her manifest unreadiness for the job, and the fact that her hard-right positions on social issues are not likely to endear her to the independent voters that McCain needs.

Again: you keep trying to ascribe uncertainty to me, but you’ve picked a bad day to do it. Obama’s convention kicked ass. He is instantly soaring in the polls. McCain’s VP pick strikes me as laughable. A hurricane is about to wipe out his convention. And you think I’m nervous? About what?

  • Sara See

The idiotic, delusional and racist rants on this site are positively frightening!

The tenor in here suggests many seem to have psychotic hallucinations which shimmer with the possibility of aggressive or dangerous actions. I certainly wouldn’t want to meet up with any of you on a lonely street one night…

Yes, yes, anyone who works in or near the media is a corrupt liar who’s in tank for Obama. I’m aware of the fantasy Earth that PUMAs live on. Here’s the reality: yes, far more media professionals are Democrats than Republicans. That’s because it’s our full-time job to know something about contemporary civilization. For instance, if you asked me, live and in real time, to talk about health care, Iraq, education policy, tax policy, Afghanistan, Al Qaeda, immigration, abortion, gay rights or pretty much anything else, I could tell you precisely where McCain and Obama stand today, where they’ve stood in the past, where the two political parties stand, where the American people stand, what President Numbnuts has done about that issue, how it’s likely to play politically in any of the 18 battleground states, and so on. Yes, I am a media professional. That means I work hard to know a lot about a lot of things. For instance, I know that it is a fact that a much higher percentage of media stories about Obama in the past 12 months have had a negative slant than have stories about John McCain. You PUMAs probably think I’m lying about that because it’s a fact that doesn’t bolster your preconceived notions. It’s true, though.

So, yeah, I’m a media professional who supports Obama, thinks McCain is a nut job approaching senility who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office except on a tour. I also would have supported Hillary if she had won. But none of that matters. My opinion is irrelevant. The facts I spout, though, are not, and I would advise any of you who want to learn something about politics to listen to how I explain the reasons I’m so confident. Because Obama *is*, in all likelihood, going to win this election. And if you understand why you will be a more astute political observer, or even activist, when HRC runs in 2016. ;)

  • Donna Brazile

Guess what S F? Nobody here cares about your Professional opinion.

But thanks for the analysis. I’ll file it where all trash reporting goes– on the MSNBC website.

Illinois need not bow its head in shame on the corruption scale. But at this precise moment in history, without question, the state with the highest percentage of public officials either in jail, under indictment or under investigation is Alaska. I doubt there is any other state that’s even close. And it’s understandable — more or less the entire state runs on oil money, the entire state is deeply Republican and the Republican Party is deeply in bed with the petroleum industry. It’s not really all that shocking that the political apparatus is so corrupt.

  • Pink Panther

If you are part of the professional media, you are personally responsible for the Iraq War and Bush getting into the White House in 2000 and 2004.

The “professional media” should have had the integrity to speak out but instead they shoved Bush down America’s throat in 2000 and 2004 and they did the same with the Iraq War.

You are now shoving Obama down our throats. Giving your track record, you have no credibility and the only thing the “professional media” is knowledgeable about is collecting how to collect paychecks and presenting propaganda to the public.

In a nutshell here is what would happen if McCain died after winning the election:

He would be replaced with someone more qualified than Obama.

The Democrats are desperate now because BOTH McCain AND Palin are more qualified than Obamamessiah.

  • Sara See

Obama is toast is a perfect example of a hateful and delusional person who has tied themselves up in knots. I’m truly sorry for you, really am…HATE does terrible things to a person.

The abortion issue is less important. The women who have fought so hard for pro-choice are for the most part, pre to post menopausal. Their daughters are in their 20′s. If their teenage granddaughters choose an abortion and it’s not available in the U.S., they’ll purchase a couple of plane tickets out of the country and get an eye lift while they’re at it.

Young women today are not aware of how hard women in the late 60′s and early 70′s fought for the right to choose. Abortion has always existed for them and what they know about it is the pro-life stance.

I’d like more moderate and liberal justices on the Supreme Court. But, it’s not an issue that will determine who I vote for. My friends voting for Obama try to persuade me with the argument that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, our right to privacy, illegal search and seizure, etc… will all be chipped away at. Since Senator Obama’s change of heart with FISA, I don’t trust that he’ll appoint justices that will protect my Constitutional rights, re-instate the ones that have been chipped away at or expand them.

The threats of SCOTUS and abortion being banned are failing with me. In my neck of the woods, there aren’t many people who are more of a flora and fauna hugging, bleeding heart liberal than me. If I’m refusing to base my vote on SCOTUS and abortion, more moderate and conservative Democrats probably aren’t going to base their vote on those issues either.
