Bring it On Barky

Let’s concede at the outset that John McCain and Joe Biden are two crusty, vintage Washington insiders. They cancel each other out. Which brings us to the match up between Barack Obama and Sara Palin. Let’s put it in technical terms–Barack is screwed.

Want to talk experience? Palin may come from a small state in terms of population, but she actually has carried out the task of governing. She has developed and presented budgets. She has appointed senior government officials. Fact is that she has more experience as a Mayor and a Governor than Obama, Biden, and McCain combined. She has actually spent time in Europe as a Governor visiting troops from her state who had been wounded in Iraq. Barack? [crickets] He was so busy running for the Presidency that he had no time to hold a single hearing on NATO and its challenges in Afghanistan.

How about character? That’s where she absolutely destroys Obambi. Why?

She does not come from a dysfunctional family. She was not shopped around as a child by a hippy mother who hooked up with a parade of guys only to be dumped with her grandparents.

She is not afraid to release her birth certificate or her medical records.

She does not have an unexplained trip to Pakistan.

She does not feel compelled to lie about her background and upbringing (Barack’s nonsense that he was raised by a single mother is a case in point).

She not only talks about values, but she lives them. Barack preaches about the need to “care for the least of these my brethern” but then callously ignores the plight of his own flesh and blood brother who lives in Kenya. Palin says she is pro-life. She gets pregnant and discovers she is carrying an infant with Down’s Syndrome. What does she do? She carries the baby to term and brings a new life to the world. I don’t care so much what she says, I want to know what she does.

This bit from the Wikipedia entry gives us some insight into the kind of person she is:

Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission,[10] where she served from 2003 to 2004 until resigning in protest over what she called the “lack of ethics” of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest.[11][3] After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican Party’s chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail.[12] Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.[3]

So, she takes on the Oil and Gas industry and her own party? Give me one example where Barack Obama ever did anything like that. Just one.

Is she a good debater? Don’t know. She is behind the experience curve on that one. There is something to be said for spending every day on the campaign trail making speech after speech. However, in watching Palin today there was a hint of authenticity that Obama and Biden can’t match. Are Obama and Biden dumb enough to want that fight?

Well said Larry. I am so excited about McCain’s VP pick.

    • Hillary Loves Obama

If Barack raped Larry’s girlfriend/wife/daughter, Palin would jail her for having an abortion.

How does that sit with you, Larry?

      Your female family & friends?

      Have fun, you nutjob!

      • Katmoon

Some soap needed, these idiots are out of control

        • Perry Logan

They’re just excited because they have a woman to attack again.

      • Dave_Not_For_Obabi

You idiot, if Obambi raped anyone’s wife/girlfriend and the baby lived through an abortion, Obambi then would take that baby and leave it on a cold stainless steel table to die without ANY life support, just left to die there.

Nice try to inject your foolish argument.

Palin is no Hillary, I know that and so do 99.9% of people, that’s not the point. The point is that McCain has done what Obambi would not, get it yet.
In other words Hillary was MORE qualified than Obambi yet Obambi would not even consider her for VP.

Both McCain and Clinton employed more female than male staffers, while Obama employed more males than females.

McCain and Clinton had more female than male staffers making six-figure salaries, while Obama had more male than female staffers making six-figure salaries.

The data were taken from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate, which covered the six-month period ending Sept. 30, 2007.

Only in the office of McCain, an Arizona Republican and his party’s was the average salary for women higher than for men.

                • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

I read that report… It said Barry paid his female staffers substantially less than his male ones

McCain actually pays his women more!

        • tskTsk

Palin is Palin so comparing is stupid. I’m liking this pick sooo much. She brings her unique style to the table..oh I’m so happy!

          Ouch!!! Nice comeback, Dave. :-)

      • beebop

And if the abortion failed and the baby was born alive, Barry would have you allow it to die. Which one would you rather have making decisions for you and your family? Me? I’ll stick with the one who values life. EVERY.TIME.

Your comment is stupid ” Hillary for Obama”. Rape can be taken care of- you idiot. There a pill call day after- or didn’t you know that. When you get rape and report it- they offer you that pill. If you are screwing around and get bang up and decide to abort the “lust” – they ought to drag your asses to the nearest jail for murder. You guys want to mess around but don’t want the responsibility that goes with it, baby killers. Don’t jump on Larry for giving us such a nice article on values- grow up! By the way, I doubt if Hillary IS really for Obama- she is probably sitting down drinkig a nice scotch and smirking at the messiah with the Palin’s VP announcement or did you really believed her at the convention. How gallable!

      • Ai1een

        Hillary Loves Obama (yeah sure),

You are completely WRONG and, unfortunately, STUPID to boot.

As a governmental official, Palin upholds the laws of the land DESPITE party affiliations (thus her charges against 2 Repub. officials who had to resign office)and DESPITE her personal beliefs. Abortion is the law of the land, therefore, PALIN will UPHOLD the law of the land. Yes, it really is that simple.

Your threats are ungrounded, unfounded and painfully IGNORANT.

        • politicsIsdirty

Palin is a woman who values love of country above party.

          This Democrat is for McCain/Palin.

      • We Will Remember in November!

You know I am pro choice. However, I always respected the views of anti abortionist who believe that a baby is a baby no matter how it is conceived. Mother Theresa had the same view.

Look if it is all about the innocence baby, why does it matter if the baby was conceived through rape or incest or whatever. The anti abortionist who don’t qualify their stand are intellectual honest in my opinion…I disagree with them..but I respect that.

I mean if you add the qualifier (except in the case of incest or rape) you are essentially saying the matter in which the woman gets pregnant determines whether it is worth saving the baby. I believe it is a woman’s choice becasue she allow will stand at the pearly gates and reckon her life actions with GOD in the end.

      • luvtruth

oh honey, when you point the finger at Larry and call him “nutjob”, remember that three fingers are pointing back at you!

      • chezmadame

        What are you babbling about?

      • fooj

What a crock of shit. YOU don’t know what she’d do. My understanding is that she is pro-life yet doesn’t believe that she has the right to make that personal and moral decision for anyone else. Sounds pretty reasonable to me…unlike YOUR hysterical assertion. History has proven that the Republicans (with a majority in BOTH houses AND occupying the WH) won’t touch Roe v. Wade. There is NO valid argument/evidence proving that they will.

Female family? Give me a break. The Democratic Party (of which I belong) had their chance to do the right thing this past week. INSTEAD, they CHOSE to disrespect/ignore the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and openly RIG the Convention. Apparently “gaming” the caucuses and commiting heinous election/voter fraud throughout the primary wasn’t good enough. With the Florida and Michigan delegates vote fully restored, Hillary (she was not my choice) won the primary by over 300,000 votes yet the “Old Boys Club” pulled every skanky trick in the book to CHEAT the rightful winner of the nomination and by extention, all registered Democrats. They succeeded. Why? Because people like YOU just don’t get it. The Democratic Party is dead. Don’t hand me a bag of shit and tell me it’s candy. Democrats should be ENRAGED by the FRAUDULENT BS that occurred throughout this primary season. I know that I certainly am. It was APALLING. It was and still is absolutely shameful. How WEAK does that make Obama as a candidate? The answer will be crystal clear on November 4th.

The Democratic Party doesn’t give a rat’s ass about protecting and preserving the rights of women. They’ve made that PAINFULLY clear for a very long time. Any American watching the convention this past week fully understands that our “two-party system” is nothing but an ILLUSION. If the Democrats can’t be trusted to honor, defend and protect democratic principles then what the hell differentiates them from fascist dictators? YOU TELL ME.

Give it a rest. We have a responsibility as Americans to uphold the values and ideals of a true democracy. Regretfully, some individuals can’t think for themselves and swallow the propaganda whole. You and like-minded “Dems” bring us all down by an inability to discern fact from fiction. I’m tired of carrying the load for people who OBVIOUSLY think that democracy is some random “policy” as opposed to it being a cherished principle and value.

Democrats in California did not have their votes counted (my vote included) at this sham of a convention. Democratic, my ass. I cherish my right to vote. You should, too. What the hell is the matter with you people? What will YOU tell the children years from now when they ask why THEIR votes don’t count? I know what I will say. I will tell them that some of us fought with every ounce of our being to preserve and protect THAT right for them and their children. Unfortunately, some took their voting rights for granted and lost it all to a faction of traitorous, undemocratic thugs. I won’t have to live out the rest of my life with that on my conscience. I fought and resisted this hostile takeover with everything that I had. Millions of us did.

I’m an AMERICAN first. My party affiliation does not define who I am, especially when said party has OBVIOUSLY lost all credibility. What does it mean to be an “authentic” democrat? Good luck answering THAT question. Democratic values and principles no longer exist. It’s all an illusion.

We are Americans. We are better than this.

Calling people names doesn’t change that fact.

        • dee4hill

“I fought and resisted this hostile takeover with everything that I had. Millions of us did.”

We sure did. And you summed up my sentiments to a tee. Beautiful post.

What’s great about NoQuarter is that I can always come here and know what the facts are. No spin necessary. If it’s on NoQuarter, I know that the truth is the exact opposite.

I want that fight. Palin’s a rank amateur and a complete unknown. She’s spent less time as the governor of one of the smallest states in the Union than John McCain has spent running for President.

And it’s not like the Republican Party is bereft of women of substance. But McCain has passed them over in favor of someone who most Presidents wouldn’t consider qualified to be Secretary of the Interior.

    • katmandu

The biggest rejoinder (and a winning rejoinder at that) is that Obama is the least experienced of the four candidates.

      • Ash

It would be, were it true. There’s a distinct difference between being a neophyte and being an outsider, that many here have failed to grasp.

On one side, you have Barack Obama. Last November, his supporters were pulling their hair out. Hillary still had a thirty point lead. Obama didn’t seem able to throw a punch, much less land one. He ran a tight, smart campaign that maximized his strengths and minimized his weaknesses, and became his party’s nominee.

That wasn’t supposed to happen. The campaign scheduled was weighted to give all the advantage to the entrenched candidate. Her campaign fell apart because she refused to lead. She wouldn’t step in and resolve conflicts between her staff. And she still got damn close to the win.

Now there’s McCain. Now, while Hillary’s campaign was run badly, it looked like a Swiss watch next to McCain’s campaign. With all the media support in the world, this darling of reporters hasn’t cracked 45% in the polls and has only flirted with being tied with Obama. This is despite the fact that a full half of the scandal-plagued, gaffe-prone McCain news stories are positive in nature, compared to just a quarter of stories about Obama.

Obama’s playing against a stacked deck, but that’s changing. The freewheeling, straight-talking maverick that the media used to love has been replaced by a sullen, unwilling pawn of Rove and Company. Time Magazine calls him “prickly” and prints an interview that reads more like a parent talking to a teenager.

The only way to make sense of the Palin pick is to realize that McCain’s going down hard and didn’t want to take down the golden boy Romney with him.

        • WildChild

Last November we were still in the faux primary. If you soeBOBOweenies were pulling your hair out back then before the primary started…

Whois this idiot? Obama has not even been vetted by the media. We have no answers about the murder of Donald Young. We don’t have any answers about his dual citizenship. His associations with Ayres and Rezko. The posting of knowingly false information on the web.

Don’t say the media loves McCain, when they haven’t even done their basic due diligence on Obama.

        • http://democratsforrealchange.info Dr. bobbi Anne white

she was being vetted back for the VP in March, but was then secretly 7 months pregnant. She’s doing just fine with her baby and her governorship. Bill Kristol, editor weekly Standard, predicted this VP choice back in June. He said gas prices will come tumbling because of her position on ANWR and offshore drilling

If she turns out to be a disaster, I would agree. But if she turns out to be the female equivalent of BHO, and everyone loves her (even those who disagree with her and won’t vote for Mac), then it only reinforces the amazing judgment of Mac. It is a very risky pick, but this woman seems like she is a lioness. She could just surprise everyone and be the difference. One thing is for sure: McCain will pull in the GOP base in numbers comparable to Bush in 2004. That will be a lot for BHO to overcome, let alone the HRC supporters and the moderate women who might jump ship.

We’ll see how it works out, but everyone can tell that your on assignment from the Kos, or TPM, or the BHO campaign to do some emergency spinning. How wonderful that your guy only took 12 hours to go from post-partisan leader in Denver to nasty partisan hack – all in less than 24 hours. Audacity indeed!!

BTW everyone, Kos (won’t link) has a thread up asking if Palin covered for her daughter by faking the pregnancy of the new baby. Unbelievable the level these people will stoop to. They have absolutely no shame :(

        • Pink Panther

There is no questioning McCain’s judgment.

Obama’s supporters’ judgment needs to be questioned. What type of people support a candidate for POTUS that has no qualifications, is a sexist, misogynist and racist.

          For example,
Obama states he believes in social equality but then when the 2000 census revealed dramatic growth in Chicago’s Hispanic and Asian populations alongside a decline in the number of African Americans, the Illinois black caucus was alarmed at the prospect that the number of blacks in the Illinois General Assembly might decline. At that point, Obama stepped to the forefront of the effort to preserve as many black seats as possible.

The Chicago Defender quotes Obama as saying that,
“while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.”

        • http://democratsforrealchange.info Dr. bobbi Anne white

she’s a slam dunk for McCain

    • Dan R.

Well, even so she’s still spent more time in actual government management positions than Barack Obama. And he’s your candidate for PRESIDENT, not vice president!

So you Obamabots want to have a debate on the issue of experience??? LMFAO!!! Bring it on, dickweed. The more the issue of “experience” is raised in the minds of voters, the more it benefits McCain.

Barack Obama has the thinnest resume of any major party presidential candidate since Wendell Wilke. It’s laughable. His entire candidacy is nothing but a Madison Avenue production, lots of smoke and mirrors with absolutely nothing of substance behind it.

and tons of alternative energy for America’s economy

    • Peggy Sue

Too bad that Palin [a veep candidate] has more executive experience than the frontrunner for the Democratic Party. Why Obama’s Joe Biden selection? To fill up the holes in Obambi’s skinny foreign affairs resume, an area I might mention that only a president would be making decisions on.

So then there’s the question–would we elect a vice president with a thin resume [highly questionable when you consider Obambi's record and the fact that Palin has actually run a municipal and state government], or would we elect someone for POTUS with the thinnest of resumes in all relevant areas?

And please, do not mention Abe Lincoln or JFK because the examples are ludicrous.

Palin will be a heartbeat from the presidency.

Obama “is” the heartbeat of the Democratic Party and his army of Obamatrons.

      Send in the pacemakers, quick!

Hummmm. To whom would I give more weight in a substance vs. style competition [substance being crucial, style being the stuff of gossamer]???

Rezko purchased the mansion the Obamas could not afford, while Ayers is Obama’s neighbor, mentor, former boss, political associate, business associate, political patron and close friend.

A shady neighbor -that Obama himself called his political godfather? That was the guy who recruited him to move to Chicago? That helped him buy a house he could not afford? That was one of his biggest financial backers? That was under federal investigation when he helped Obama buy a house Obama could not otherwise afford? That had numerous run down low-income housing properties in Obama’s own district that Obama helped get him funds for? That shady neighbor? No big deal. Right.

what’s interesting about McCain is the high level ot secrecy he kept. which I think is commendable. Although I must admit that the night before I dreamed that she might be his pick.
It shows that he knows his opponent and how to defeat him.

  • Linda

    Obvously not, Larry. lol

The Dems are SOOO freaking out. They should have listened to the core Democratic leadership and base. They should have heeded the warning signs instead of going with an absolute newbie, thinking he didn’t have much baggage for ammo.

On the contrary, this newbie has nothing but given ammunition because of his eagerness to just climb to the top of the power ladder and has left a trail of bad deals and deception.

Too many skeletons in Obama closet of nightmares without Palin being named is what people don’t like.

    Agreed. Barky is officially screwed.

Palin brings more to the table than a Mac Daddy from Chicago.

I’m from the Pacific Northwest. We’re a different kind. We take challenges head -on and are very stubborn when we see a wrong. It could have a lot to do with the weather and the hardiness you sometimes have to have just to get to the grocery store.

Obama would have to take a vacation halfway through the trip.

Palin? Oh, Barky’s in real trouble there. Watch him try to attack her. See what happens.

Wow, you are as hypocritical as your master.

        • Steven Mather

Apart from ending the indecent acts of the Obama campaign and their anti-Democratic thugs, I get no happiness in knowing that John McCain will win the presidency, barring an event that spells disaster for McCain and/or blesses Obama. Based on the polling, and the authenticated negatives (fabricated record in the Illinois senate, early documents on caucus fraud, FISA vote, war position flip, pull back on the right-to-choose, Wright 20 years, NAFTA slipperiness, bitter gun and religion clingers) that were emerging about Obama and his campaign, it was clear 2 months ago that Obama was in the trolley tracks of defeat. For this reason, I declared Obama DONE at this site two months ago, barring the disaster/blessing. Everything is in place and simply needs the time to unfold.

          A few thoughts.

Today, McCain increased his margin of victory significantly, by his choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate. She causes the Obama campaign a conundrum. Her record is scant compared to other possible nominees, but it is superior to Obama’s in almost every aspect that matters. Attacking Palin on experience exposes Obama’s flank.

Furthermore, she has a record of changing the corrupt status quo of politics, whereas Obama’s claim to be a reformer is contradicted by his actual voting performance.

Importantly, and as noted, quoted, and referenced on Cannonfire, Obama sites are rife with misogynist testimony on Palin. This is not surprising because the Obama campaign’s misogynist vector has momentum, apart from the fact that it’s hard not to do what succeeded before. Frat boys (like me) could give his supporters lessons on tact!

It will backfire. Given what happened to Hillary, the electorate who care about women’s rights are more sensitive and ready to act against things that were allowed in the “open season on Hillary” primary. The attacks might not drive women to McCain, but sexist attacks on Palin might allow them to conscientiously stay at home on election day or to vote for progressives.

Were it not for the problem of yet another Republican presidency, I would be experiencing a delicious joy at the justice the universe is providing with its crushing defeat of Obama, his campaign, the corrupt DNC cabal and the small, but vociferous groups of thugs that carry out his dirty work. I am also saddened by the hurt that will be experienced by those who were conned by a campaign that played on their sincere desire for positive hope and change.

Some lessons cannot be learned without pain.

        • vinnie

The only similarity between her and Hillary Clinton is that they are both women. On the issues, they could not be further apart.
Sen. McCain had so many other options if he wanted to put a woman on his ticket, such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sen. Olympia Snowe — they would have been an appropriate choice compared to this dangerous choice.”

Who cares about what was said yesterday? Obama got a nice bounce from the convention. Today’s news regarding Palin is all negative. McCain’s last gasp Hail Mary is a dud.

        Here are a few samples:

James Clyburn: “I do believe that McCain has to do something to reshuffle the cards, shake up the establishment, do something unexpected and Governor Palin has all the kinds of things that McCain might see as a way to shake things up. I think her selection would be something similar to Dan Quayle.”

Chuck Schumer: “After the great success of the Democratic convention, the choice of Sarah Palin is surely a Hail Mary pass. It is a real roll of the dice and shows how John McCain, Karl Rove et al realize what a strong position the Obama-Biden team and Democrats in general are in in this election.”

Taylor Marsh: “Listening to her speech in Ohio, all I could do was cringe. It’s like watching a high school assembly campaign for class president. But at least there’s a bonus. She comes with a scandal. Don’t all Republicans?”

Paul Begala: “When you’re 72 and you have had four bouts with cancer, you ought to choose a qualified VP.”7

        LOL! Read them and weep.

“Paul Begala: “When you’re 72 and you have had four bouts with cancer, you ought to choose a qualified VP.”

That kind of nastiness smacks of terror. DNC is on a collision course with a comet. Extinction Level Event on the horizon.

Did Begala actually say the word qualified? You got a former President (Carter), Obama’s own VP nominee, and the Dem Chair of House Ways & Means (Rangel) on record saying Obama is not qualified to be President.

        • Peggy Sue

LOL! You’re clearly an idiot. The great majority of the media talking heads that I’ve seen weigh in on the issue have praised the selection. Obama has given McCain a HUGE opening by not tapping Hillary for VP and McCain has very wisely expolited it.

I don’t doubt that the childish schmucks on MSNBC were panning Palin’s selection, but that’s to be expected. They were going to rip McCain’s choice no matter who it was.

All over the US, there are millions of women who were bummed about not being able to vote for Hillary who are now excited again about being able to vote for someone like Sarah Palin.

no, it was going to be the Precious and DAMN any good sense getting in the way of that. And no matter what battering 1/2 of the Democratic activists had to get…the DNC and their “black pandering” clique was going to install Obama

THE DNC AND OBAMA own this miserable election where they are going to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory

NONE of these candidates are worth a crap but one thing I know, I’m not willing to install a Chicago thug in the WH or to give up my party without a fight…and even if it gives them a mortal wound in the process, because without this fight, they’ll be dead to half of us anyway

    • Amae

Game on for McCain and now the lazy do nothing congress will have to get off their collective butts and earn their pay. They are, after all,in the majority. They will have to read the legislation that they are voting on just to make sure Pres McCain doesn’t slip something in.

The Executive Branch will be in good hands and the
congressional dems will just have to sharpen up. This is what they needed to wake them up.

  • No Obamislamists

When you have the entire democratic establishment and the entire mainstream non-Fox media having a complete and utter shit fit you know McCain completely frigging nailed it on this one. They are simply besides themselves. The attitude seems to be “We’re the Dems, we’re supposed to be the only party for minorities and women!”

    • Buzz Latte

Oh come on! The Barky camp and the DNC are shytting big hard bricks!!!

Is anyone talking about Barky today or his colossal speech?

Barky and the DNC are in a death spiral and are trying to figure out how not to crash!

Remember that half of airplane Barky had. That’s what’s left of his campaign!

      • beebop

Speaking of airplanes … Sarah immediately sold the Governor’s jet when she took office. Contrast that with the nearly $5 Million spent on a stage set for one freaking night. So the Democrats are the new out of touch party ….

        • Buzz Latte

          Agreed! LOL!!

    • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

They are also in denial about Democratic Hillary supporters voting for McCain/Palin. I could give a rat’s ass that Palin is pro-life. (She is actually part of a group called “FEMINISTS for Life” and with her embracing the word FEMINIST I will cut her some slack on it.)

I do care that Obama spit in my face as a woman by not even vetting Hillary. I was already going to vote for McCain; now I am so elated and ready to put Obama out to pasture, I am considering volunteering for the McCain/Palin ticket in my city.

The Democratic party has shown that it is completely dense and clueless when it comes to what real women want. They think that one issue (choice) defines us. No, sorry, it does not. We need to send a very strong message that they need to do better than that to keep our loyalty.

  • ObamaNOT

Bill clinton said of BO that he ‘hit it out of the park’ by picking Biden…..

Well, you read it here first, ‘BO may have hit it out of the park, but McCain hit a GRAND SLAM in picking Gov Palin……’

Sorry son, a home run doesnt get it anymore, The home team wants a GRAND SLAM……

    • No Obamislamists

      Even better….

This is like McCain making an unassisted triple play on the field against Team Obamacus. Grand slams happen all the time.

  • http://mccaindemocrats.wordpress.com/ 30yrdem-not any more

I hope she rolls that way.

Ethics reform, stopped the bridge to no where, took money from the oil companies and gave it to the people of Alaska in the form of a $1,200 check…she is like McCain when it comes to reform…..I have read she sold the old Gov. plane on e-bay and gave the money to the people.

We will have to educate ourselves because the MSM isn’t going to want us to know she has more experience than Obama….

      • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

excuse me if I posted this earlier but I’ve found at least 2 things I like about her

        Sarah Palin: pro-gay diva?
This is not what you’d expect from a social conservative:

Palin’s first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with Alaska’s attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation.

Also, she acknowledges having gay friends, something Republican politicians rarely acknowledge.

“I have no fear that in this country we will never go back to back-alley abortion. I respect both the pro-choice arguments and the pro-life arguments and I believe it is a personal choice that the government cannot be involved in. I am not afraid to have a pro-life president and vice-president because I believe that no matter who is on the Supreme Court, women will never lose their right to make the decision themselves. No man can ever take that away from us. We would revolt before we would let that happen and they know it.” http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=64876

Yes, vote for Mr. Sexist and Racist. Doesn’t care who the woman is, just get her on the ticket. That’ll get those women in for him! They don’t know any better!

Seriously. There are women in the Republican Party with some savvy and know-how. Not all that many, because women, on average, are better at governing than men and are therefore much more likely to be Democrats.

The good news is we DON’T need your permission to vote how we want to in the election.

Would you like some cheese with the whine of yours?

            Stop the hate!

            • Ash

You don’t need my permission to vote, that’s true. All I’m saying is that you shouldn’t need my permission to think, either, and if that’s what you’re waiting for, then you definitely have it.

Use your heads a little, maybe. Consider that maybe the Clintons weren’t lying during their convention speeches.

Open yourselves up to new ideas, new thoughts. Consider them. Consider how you’re letting your blind hatred of a guy that my brother (a Reagan Republican who roamed the halls in Springfield at the same time Obama did) called “the nicest, most honest guy in the legislature.”

I’ve never heard anyone who actually knows the guy speak any less highly of him, but apparently some magic in your keyboards allows you, without knowing him or even knowing someone he knows, to have the exact opposite impression.

Allow yourself the possibility of being wrong, is what I’m saying. You’ll be better people as a result.

              • WildChild

you soeBOBOweenies told us for months that the Clinton’s would say whatever they had to say to win. It was a foundational part of your opposition to Hillary. Now you say Use your heads a little, maybe. Consider that maybe the Clintons weren’t lying during their convention speeches.

                What changed?

                3) a guy who NEVER did the work but got his name put on top of the bill anyway (please note item 2)

I guess you can be a nice guy when everyone hands you everything on a silver platter while everyone else takes out your garbage

          • Pink Panther

Ash: I think you can’t read or comprehend. It is Obama, Biden and Obama’s New Democratic Party that are sexist, racist and misogynist as follows:

Not only did Obama and his minions denigrate Hillary and her supporters, they are are now doing it to another woman.

Remember Obama’s National Campaign Co-Chair’s statement? Jesse Jackson, Jr. said this to the Washington post about Hillary and Obama didn’t bat an eye:

“The natural reminder here is O.J. [Simpson] — how does an African American candidate attack a white woman?”

Obama states he believes in equal pay but pays the women working in his Senate office less than the men working on his staff.

There is so much more to list.

ASH, KEEP POSTING SO I CAN CONTINUE TO POST THEIR SEXIST AND RACIST COMMENTS AND ACTIONS!

I’m already outraged, the sexism is back and it’s just like pouring salt on a barely healed wound. I listened to this crap for 18 mos and here it comes again.

Except this time, I believe Palin’s party will stand up for her and fight back.

Every drone that refers to her as a vagina is going to hand Mccain another vote. And you know they’ll do it because they just can’t help themselves.

Palin also gave birth to five children. I know in our world that doesn’t count, but it was the first thing I thought of when Barky complained about her lack of experience.

Try going thru labor five times, Barky. Try juggling work and diapers. Try doing it while in politics and still managing to get a 85% approval rating. And then after 18 yrs of your blood, sweat, and tears, try sending that child off to war while giving birth to another with downs syndrome.

I know, motherhood doesn’t really count as experience in politics, but perhaps it should.

    • Ferdberfle

You said it. She’s done more just as a mother than he’s done in his entire life. The rest of her resume is icing on the cake-walk to the WH. Oblahblah’s campaign is now on borrowed time.

    • Kells

And, while the pregnant Palin was attending a governor’s meeting in TX this past April, her water broke. She then gave her speech, and boarded a plane back to AK. That’s impressive!

  • http://obamafact.blogspot.com/ Mel

When running for Gov, Palin destroyed her opponent in the debates, a seasoned former Gov.

Does an empty suit 145 day in the US Senate think he can take on a Gov who has daily served for 20 months, been overseas to Iraq and Kuwait, Germany and other places while Obama has done nothing but a rock show tour?

Palin has signed into law budgets, Obama signed an offer to purchase a mansion he could ill afford and needed a slumlords dirty money to obtain.

Palin made political appointments, Obama has stolen politcal legislations for self promotion.

Palin has done, Obama has telepromted.

Palin has made change, Obama telepromts change.

McCain you proved superior judgement in VP choice, Obama you proved your complete lack of experience in your VP choice!

Sarah Palin is tough as nails. Don’t let her gender or her looks fool you. She has no problem taking on big oil, republicans and anyone else that is corrupt. Her moral center is more than a sound bite. I don’t agree with all her politics but she is willing to work with anyone that wants to get the job done. Her experience is more than you think. Alaska has many dealings with the international scene. She is not oblivious. Look at a map. Alaska is strategic for military, trade and natural resources. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Palin.

McCain’s pick of Palin is brilliant and bold. She is genuine and managed to amass more executive experience while having and raising 5 kids than Barky and Biden put together. Bravo, excellent Super Woman pick!

  • Katmoon

    Agree Chad,

I know my vote will go to McCain/Pa;in, and now for so many right reasons, it’s an easy vote, it was more difficult before the choice, but I was going to vote for McCain after the DNC took over the party. I like what I read about Palin, she has backbone, and more experience than the 176 days O spent as a “present” senator. He’s campaigned, longer I believe than he actually has worked as senator; that experience argument just doesn’t wash, and the msm keeps putting Palin up against O, I guess they also forgot he was running for CIC not VP. ROFL
But, this filthy, debasing of women isn’t going to be tolerated ever again, dem, republican, whatever, enough is enough. We vote for more than one issue and we also look beyond skin color and gender, it’s just really nice when the candidate is someone we can relate to. There has never been a VP that was a “MoM” before, both Senator McCain and Gov. Palin have kids going to Iraq, as well as Biden. I’m not a one issue voter, and that one issue is being frothed over by the msm, as if women only vote because of one issue. Disgusting. That is what pandering looks like, the msm.

Smiling today for McCain/Palin 08 Happy Birthday Senator McCain Happy Annivesary Gov. Palin

  • socalannie

Thank you John McCain for this innovative and gutsy pick for vp. I look forward to the debates.

  • Patrick

You can tell by the bulk of the CNN/MSNBC media reaction, particularly Jack Cafferty (he’s FROTHING in his decrying of the pick) that McCain has absolutely slammed this one home. The experience argument will last for about two days (until the McCain camps soon-to-come ads comparing McCain to Obama and then Obama to Palin).

If Cafferty hates the pick, you can rest assured that Obama is STUNNED and worried.

        • DenverDem

I’m a Hillary supporter who lives in Denver and I volunteered at the convention, and let me just tell you, we gave away ALOT of tickets. I didn’t pay a dime. Got in for free. Got ten on my friends in as well. My boss gave a box of 500 tickets and told me to go and give them to other volunteers and to whoever I could find downtown who wanted to go right about 5:45pm last night.

It was a good show though. I wish Wes Clark had had a bigger part… but I did love Barny Smith and Stevie Wonder.

          • roseeriter

      • Heather

It was free. Would I go to a free concert with Steve Wonder, Sheryl Crow, and fireworks, in exchange to listening to a fraud rant for 30 minutes? Sure! Interviewing the people in line, only about 2 in 7 had any political position at all, and not all of them were pro-O.

        • Donna Brazile

Technically it wasn’t free. You had to sell six hours of your life to the ONE in order to be eligible for a ticket.

Finally Larry admits this is a Republican site! Thank you Larry for clarifying.

We have been vetting Obama, Hillary, McCain for 18 months; Sarah Palin has been vetted for 8 hours and you already say she beats Obama in character.

    What a joke!

Shut up, Talking Mule Troll. If we wanted any of your braying, we’d hook you up tho the nearest plow.

    • Dave_Not_For_Obabi

I’m a DEMOCRAT and even I think Palin beats Obambi in character, I don’t see Palin hanging with a terrorist like Ayers, I don’t see Palin hanging with a CROOK like Rezko, hell that’s almost enough vetting for me, lol.

Until you can show me a terrorist friend of Palin, you are best to shut it.

      • Dave_Not_For_Obabi

Oh I wanted to add that Obambi pizzed away over $100 million with Ayers with nothing to show for it!! At least Palin has shown she can better handle budgets, let alone pizz away over $100 million like Ayers/Obambi.

I want to see a Hillary to Obambi-Rezko moment during the debates, something in the line of Palin giving it to Biden about Obambi pizzing away over $100 million with a terrorist (Ayers).

You can’t make this chit up, it’s the reality, lol.

    • Kim

Personally, Francis, I think most of the people here are Democrats. I, myself, am a former Democrat turned Independent. A couple of other things that Obama has that Sarah Palin apparently does not:

    1. An Indonesian passport.
    2. A fondness for snorting cocaine.

Actually, I’m not sure I could vote for a ticket where at least one of the candidates has never held foreign citizenship and traveled as an adult out of the continental United States on a foreign passport. Could you?

    • Kelvin Hearts PUMAs

      Are you sure about that?

  • Luis

John McCain made a courageous choice. Gov. Palin does not owe anyone. I would have preferred Sen. Clinton because she is a patriot with experience and intelligence. This pick shows that Sen. Obama made a personal choice again to the detriment of the country. The Democrats will lose the White House worse than Dukakis! The Democrats choose two liberal Northeastern Democrats (Obama is from Chicago but educated in the northeast.
The media is dishonest again. The first thing they talk about is a supposed scandal in Alaska, but refuse to look at the overwhelming number of paybacks and fraud and lies of Sen. Obama. Please remember that after helping buy Obama’s Mansion, Rezko sold Obama a piece of the empty lot for 1/6 the price, but now, the vacant piece of land cannot be built upon. Therefore, Obama gets to preserve his view FOREVER. MSM died in 2000 and was not resurrected in 2008!

  • Shane

I’ve noticed a lot of pro-lifers on here. I didn’t know Hillary was Pro-life. But I’m sure you’ll say that she’s just enough pro-choice. Or something. I don’t know. The important thing is that having a child from rape should be enforced by the government.

    • http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=628 God Damn Michelle Obama

More important is allowing the Democrats to denigrate women. Democrats have shifted away from racism to sexism. How wonderful it is for white men to be Democrats.

    • http://obamafact.blogspot.com/ Mel

Hmmm Obama validates leaving live fetus’s to miserably die in waste baskets, what a man huh!

Did I miss something during a Bush Whitehouse with a Republican majority? Do we no longer have Roe v. Wade? Gee. And. Before you start in on SCOTUS … the Democrats get to decide who comes up for consideration …. kind of like that little FISA thing that was supposed to die on the floor, right?

You 0bama boyz may have to start wearing those rain coats they sell at every drug store in America … bummer!

    • tskTsk

um ah Hillary is not in the picture anymore. talk about another candidates views please.

Oh yes, the Dems certainly showed how warm and fuzzy they are about women’s issues: they can call us every name in the book, but then pretend to care about our reproductive lives.

We’re hags and bitches but we better fall in line. We’re unreasonable and vindictive, but they’ll protect a woman’s uterus.

It’s something on the order of saying: I love humanity but people are such a pain in the ass.

I don’t vote with my ovaries, idiot! And Roe vs Wade is not the only issue driving this or any other election.

      • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

        don’t forget Annie Oakley!

  • Patrick

The argument that McCain is degrading women by this pick is stunning. CNN is saying they have emails from republican women who are insulted that McCain thinks he can just pick a woman to get their votes. I don’t GET THAT. Seriously. He met with the disaffected and HE LISTENED. Did he give the female dems everything they wanted? No, of course, he couldn’t. As much as I’m pro-choice, there is just no way he could have done that, it would have split his party the way Obama split the dems. So he offers up a compromise (McCain, once again reaching across the isle in a way!). He heard the disaffected Reagan Dem, the disaffected Hillary Dem and he responds with “I have a bright, energetic, brilliant young woman here and she is ready for this. She’s not pro-life, but she is pro-woman. She is ready to assume this position and ready to shatter this ceiling for you.”

And to think that some women would be insulted just because a female VP pick isn’t pro-choice and only has DOUBLE Obama’s experience to me seems like, well, probably a media lie.

    Take care,
    Patrick

Those silly leftists cannot understand that attacking Palin’s credentials (who is eminently more experienced than Barry) simply highlights their own ridiculously weak and inexperienced candidate.

And anyone who’s looked at Obama lovin’ sites like DU also knows the misogyny is now at full-tilt directed at Palin. This will further alienate women who saw the abuse of Hillary from so called “progressives.”

This was a magnificent score for the McCain campaign – leftists are lining up to shoot themselves in the foot as social conservatives flock to McCain/Palin.

    Well done!!

I am a 50 year Dem and have never wavered in voting for Dems. But for the first time I am going to vote Republican and McCain’s choice of Palin today cemented that for me. Why? I think McCain just shot a torpedo across the bow of the good ship Republican that said it is McCain the Maverick that is going to run for the presidency. I think McCain and Palin will have a clear agenda about reframing and restructuring the Republican party and taking on the politics of DC. That McCain I respect. I even envy the Republicans because their party needs a huge clean up and reinvention and they actually have a chance to have that happen. The Democrats need the same medicine but with Obama beholden to a Democratic leadership that has proved it has no courage to be the Democratic Party we are not going to get that. The only way I think Democrats may see their party survive is if this mess they have created gets them the results they deserve—a landslide loss at the polls. I will use my one poor vote to help that happen. Then my dream is that Hillary will have the opportunity to do what I think McCain will do for the Republicans. So my vote will be Republican for what I hope is the first and only time in my life and McCain’s choice today gave me some confidence that I can cast that vote with less risk than I could hope. My dream is that McCain gets a cleaner GOP going, a better DC and sets the table for HRC to clean the clocks at DNC headquarters. Please note that McCain is about the only politician I know of who does not do earmarks.

    • Dave_Not_For_Obabi

Please note that McCain is about the only politician I know of who does not do earmarks.

It’s my understanding that Palin also does NOT do earmarks ie. not taking the Fed. funding for the bridge to nowhere.

  • jdona

I think a lot of people are ignoring the obvious, the pick of Palin has absolutely energized the Republican base and the evangelicals. They will be out in force campaigning and working the trenches. McCain has made a brilliant political move. The reputation for being mavericks will sway the independents, her record for fighting corruption within her own party will also attract the independents. What we will need to do is make sure we increase the Democratic majorities in the Senate and House to protect Roe v Wade. Vote for McCain or leave the top ticket blank, but make sure we elect the downticket Dems to keep the Republicans from picking up a majority.

    • waiting

As an almost 40 year dem I will vote for McCain/Palin. I will only vote for dems downticket that did not support Obama in the primary. I will not vote for someone that could not see what I saw early on – Obama is a total fraud.

I didn’t leave the democratic party. It left me.

    • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

MOST people here never had any intention of not voting dem on the downticket

but…I’m thinking that Hillary needs to be the Leader of the Senate for them to get my support

all of those sell outs need to pay for this primary and their silence

  • suskin

What people don’t seem to get is, for many of us Hillary supporters, the question was not Obama or McCain; it was McCain or not voting. Obama is simply not an option. We are celebrating the Palin selection because it gives us a ticket we can support.

It’s not that we suddenly stopped caring about abortion rights, certainly not. And it’s not that we feel comfortable with creationism. It’s that something happened this primary season, something more important and more of a threat to women than a possible threat to Roe v. Wade (though as a lawyer I question that threat); there was a fundamental shift in the treatment of women. Women were disrespected, they were treated like dirt. The Obama fan club young and/or male turned on women (their mothers, wives and bosses) in the most blatant and shameless manner. (And in truth, they turned against seniors as well). Obama led that onslaught with his out with the old (meaning Hillary) and in with the new mantra, which he disguised as “change”. Obama had the opportunity to heal that rift, to turn back the clock and restore respect for women but he chose not to.

Obama missed that opportunity, McCain didn’t.

“Palin may come from a small state in terms of population, but she actually has carried out the task of governing. ”

Hey! Don’t fall for silly Obama campaign claims about population:

    1) Alaska has 680,000 people, while Delaware (Biden’s state) has 860,000 people, a tiny 180,000-person difference not worth noting.

    2) Alaska has 660,000 square miles compared to Delaware’s 2,490 square miles. That’s 265 times bigger!

    3) There’s a lot more to managing a state than the human population. There are transportation systems, utilities and other infrastructure, which in Alaska has got to be a huge challenge due to the extreme climate. There is wildlife and resource management.

    4) Alaska has an international border (with RUSSIA, does that name ring a bell?), which DE cannot claim … unless you consider NJ a foreign country.

    • Francis

What the hell are you talking about?

He can play the experience card, he’ll get destroyed with that. I wish to God that I could vote for Clinton as POTUS but the DNC took that away from us and put a total disaster in her place. McCain in 08 for me, I really didn’t care who he put on the ticket, he was getting my vote as soon as I knew the DNC screwed Clinton.

    From Wikipedia:

Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission,[16] where she served from 2003 to 2004 until resigning in protest over what she called the “lack of ethics” of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest.[17][6] After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican Party’s chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail.[18] Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine

Show me one example where Obma went against his party in any manner.

I was hoping McCain would pick a woman, but I am not happy about this pick. The animal rights activists will be all out to get him for this one.

*Excitement!!

*More ethics reform! A real “change in Washington!

*Women! Those who want the historical victory of a woman in high office, but also MOTHERS. Suburban types as well.

*Pumas and OTHER hard-core Hillary supporters who are fed up with the DNC, and the entire democratic primary season, etc.

    *Small Town Voters.

    *Rural Voters.

*Blue Collar workers and union members.

    *Alaskans.

*Many many mayoral endorsements, which HELPS while campaigning in each state. Governor endorsements as well, for sure.

*Possibly those who are dealing with disability in their lives…their son Trig has downs syndrome.

*Veterans for sure. Her son joined the army 9/11/07, and will be deployed 9/11/08. (McCain’s sons are also in Iraq, and of course, John McCain is a gigantic war hero.)

*Young undecideds might be interested in this 44 year old woman; she is young and so is her family.

*Maybe native Americans will notice that her husband is part Eskimo, and that can help some with Native American vote.

*People tired of the same old names, people who like change, people who like that she is not a Washington Insider.

My favorite part of reading the Obamaniacs’ comments on Palin? Just as they’ve never really understood the true nature of the anti-Obama sentiment in the Democratic Party, they totally don’t get the power of this VP candidate. They mistakenly identified the PUMA movement as a bunch of sore loser women having a shared snit-fit, rather than longtime dems of both sexes reacting to Obama’s Chicago-style corruption of our party and gaming of the system. (Sorry, Hillary, but, no, it wasn’t just about you.) Now they’ve taken a simplistic view of McCain’s choice of Palin as his running mate. The Obamaniacs stupidly think this is all about McCain wooing disaffected female Hillary supporters–they think it’s all about gender. Again they’re mistaken–they fail to recognize how the masses are going to react to the Alaska governor. When I watched Palin’s speech this morning, I had an immediate gut reaction to her and instantly understood her immense appeal. Palin’s a political superstar in the making. She’s got the kind of charisma that speaks straight to the heart of several constituencies all at once. Palin will soon undo any toehold Obama has managed to secure among the Reagan Dems.

    • Ai1een

      Tom K –
I agree with your assessment. I love Hillary and I was an avid financial supporter and campaigner, but our BITTERNESS…yes… unadulterated BITTERNESS was never JUST about Hillary – it was about the audacity of a corrupt party and a corrupt, non-vetted Chicago do nothing, whose every touted accomplishment was a cover for dirty Chicago style politics.

1st election, knocking everyone off the ballot on the last day before the deadline allowing Obama to run unopposed – disgusting. 2nd election, opening his leading opponent’s divorce files and attacked him on a matter that was never substantiated then or now; experts validating it was never even true – just dirty Obama politics – disgusting.

In this election – more of the same – dirty low ball tactics in dealing with the Clintons – playing the race card by saying that THEY’RE RACISTS – using the AA churches in the south to hold meetings in the sanctuaries to smear and pass on these lies about the Clintons – letting the head of the Obama Campaign in SC distribute a memo full of those lies so they can then be spread by the Obama volunteers t/o the state and nation even though they were proven false. (Obama never even apologized for that one.)- DISGUSTING.

Mayor Daley heads the corrupt Chicago political machine. Alexrod is Daley’s spokesperson – on his team – Alexrod heads Obama’s campaign. The media has known every corrupt fact on Obama and our bitterness continues to grow as we witness the media’s censorship of the truth regarding Obama’s illicit dealings such as funneled money, doing favors for favors such as Tony Rezko, etc. Our bitterness is about the media’s compliance in promoting the sexism and then guffawing and rolling their eyes and slapping their knees. It is about the DNC allowing it ALL to happen on their watch and either joining in on the attack such as James Clyburn or turning their heads away, never once opening their mouths for one of their own – sacrificing integrity for money and numbers…which IS money.

You’re right Tom – they still don’t get it and BECAUSE of the attitude they STILL display – such as not even vetting Hillary who garnered more votes in the Primary season than Barack, attitudes like we see with the Obama trolls on this site – our determination to NOT vote for Obama becomes more and more entrenched to where our only “real” choice IS to vote McCain – so that maybe, with ANOTHER MAJOR LOSS – they will finally listen…but I sincerely doubt it.

The DNC is a corrupt, cancer on America’s political system and I am a liberal. Hillary should have left 6 months ago and renounced it. Some things in life are worth more than positioning oneself for the future…they’re called COUNTRY and INTEGRITY.

      • Tom K.

Yep. You’ve echoed my thoughts exactly. I was an avid Hillary supporter. Gave as much as I could afford in the primary, cheered her on, and then watched in shock and disbelief as the Obama surrogates and supporters went on their wilding, exhibiting a savagery that rivaled Rove for sheer masochism. And did our Dem leaders do anything? Yep. They started exhorting Hillary to leave the race before it had barely gotten rolling.

But the crazy thing is that the Bots and their media pawns will continue to bleat the same misunderstandings of our motives and convictions, despite the fact that we make them clear here and elsewhere every day.

  • jc

Are you kidding Larry? He ran an amazing campaign against the candidate of the party establishment. This is going to be bad for McCain. • Dan R.

You clearly have no clue as to the workings of the American political scene, do you?

Allow me to enlighten you. Yes, Palin’s selection will shore up the right wing of the Republican Party. But what’s more important is that she will draw a LOT of women voters away from the Democratic ticket, women who were depressed and resentful that their chance to elect Hillary Clinton was taken away by some totally unqualified upstart from Illinois and a media establishment that was totally in the tank for him. The Democrats cannot win the presidency without a comfortable majority of women voters because a clear majority of men regularly vote Republican.

Plus, men will like Palin because she’s pretty hot!

      Get it now?

I voted for Hillary and now after hearing Gov. Palin is McCain’s VP pick I will be voting for McCain. Why? Because the sexism and misogyny oozing from the DNC was and is unacceptable. If female Hillary supporters vote for Obama, we are only confirming to the DNC that they can spit on us but we will still stick around. I want the DNC to take women seriously and I want them to actively work for our vote. When Obama loses, I want the DNC to know it is because of women, women who refuse to be spit on. I may not agree with McCain on most issues but at least I know McCain is actively seeking my vote and picking Palin shows he is trying to woo us women. I reward positive behavior, not negative.

Let’s not forget the fact that the DNC arranged for the election process to favor Obama. Florida & Michigan were going big for Clinton and the DNC needed to slow things down so they didn’t allow exceptions to those two states while they did allow exceptions to more Obama-favored states. How any Democrat can call this election process a democratic process is beyond belief. It was fixed from the beginning. And Howard Dean sitting back while many of the mainstream media threw sexist barb after sexist barb at Clinton was disgusting. There was nothing Democratic about this process — including the roll call. As a 30+ year Registered Democrat, I am pleased to give John McCain and Sarah Palin my vote.

    • dee4hill

Ah, yes, the bogus roll call. That wasn’t a roll call. That was an illusion, all perpetrated by the 3 bandits, Pelosi-Dean-Brazille, in an attempt to downplay Hillary’s strength among TRUE Democrats.

The fix was in long ago – probably before Barky even gave his 2004 convention speech. Why the leadership of the Party favored the weaker candidate, I’ll never know. They WILL live to rue the day they annointed him, though.

Pat Buchanan summed it up the day after Hillary suspended her campaign. “Obama won the party leadership, but Hillary won the voter’s hearts.”

I’m a 30+ year registered Dem, too, and I have NEVER seen such a charade in my life. That, plus all the Dem’s shenangans, is why I’ll vote for Mac and Sarah this time and wait patiently for 2012.

She’s even a better basketball player than Barry.

She helped her high school basketball team win the state championship.

    • Manda

OMG! I totally want someone one step away from the presidency to be a great basketball player! You’ve convinced me. I’m so totally voting McCain/Palin. What better way to settle international issues than with a game of HORSE.

      Awesome.

      • jsparrow

HORSE? Who settles international issues with a game of HORSE? I’m talking One On One street ball!

Listen… Iran prez Ahmadinejad, he’s got no game.

Russian prez Medvedev, what is he, all of 5’2?

Either one of them meets Palin they get totally OWNED!

“My understanding is that she is pro-life yet doesn’t believe that she has the right to make that personal and moral decision for anyone else.”

Former NY Gov Mario Cuomo took exactly the same position.

    • Francis

We will see if she can stand up to the same rigorous vetting as Obama, Hillary, McCain and Biden.

That moose-huntin’ housewife act will get real old if she shows she has little if any understanding of the issues facing the nation. She has already admitted she knows nothing about Iraq.

Enjoy the honeymoon, Sarah! Vetting starts tomorrow at 0800 hours.

      • Peggy Sue

        The vigorous vetting of Obama?????

        Hahahahaha!

        It hasn’t even started yet.

      • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

        excuse me…

        exactly when was obama vetted?

  • Donna Brazile

    Fran-arse!

Same goes for baby barky as well!

    Stop the hate!

    • imustprotest

haha! That’s right Donna! Francis the talking mule….Obama/Soretoe hasn’t BEEN vetted!!! yet…………..lol

  • Leigh39

I am thrilled with McCain picking Palin. Obama is a total fraud with ZERO experience and still he has the gall to question other people’s qualifications. I think Palin’s time as Governor blows Stinky’s “time” in the Senate away. He has been running for president for the majority of it. And, although I may not agree with Gov. Palin’s stance on all of the issues, she seems like a very intelligent, honest, and hardworking person. I respect that. She has executive experience, and she has fought corruption within her own party; the woman has guts. That is a hell of a lot more than anyone could say about BO.

  • dee4hill

Aw, gee, Bots… worried that a strong, intelligent, experienced, ethical, CLASSY, mother of FIVE, young, drop-dead gorgeous woman will steal The One’s thunder?

You can bet she will! From now until the election, the spotlight will be on HER.

    Barky who?

    Bwah-hahahahahahahahahahaha!

NEVER underestimate the GOP. They are the MASTERS of the game. Only Hillary could have beat them.

Bye bye bye, bye bye Barack!

    McCain/Palin ’08
    Hillary ’12

  • Objective analysis

    Larry,

Governor Palin is a good debater. You have to be to beat the Republican Incumbent to be the leader of the Party and Mayor. Also she has a major in communication.

Obama went to lawschool and don’t know diddly squat as Clinton showed.

  • Manda

I think you are all motherclucking insane. Seriously. Pull your heads out of your asses. I have never seen such inane and childish reasons for voting for a certain candidate. Palin isn’t a good pick. She’s a desperate pick by a desperate man. She is not ready to lead a country. This is nothing more than an attention grab. McCain is playing at politics; he’s going for style over substance.

How can any of you, who were going to vote for Hillary and for the democratic ticket, honestly tell me that you’re going to vote against your beliefs because of a petty need for revenge? You can say that it’s because of a broken system, and maybe that’s true. But the lack of foresight is amazing and painful and embarrassing. What you fail realize is that we’re all doomed if another republican takes office.

I’m not being facetious. I’m not. McCain is a disaster waiting to happen. The US will be a shell of its former self. A laughing stock. We’ll be bombing Iran, we’ll be occupying Iraq for an indeterminate amount of time. We’ll be destroying the Alaskan wilderness for the sake of oil. The rich will continue to be unreasonably wealthy, and the poor will face more hardships and trials than anyone should have to.

Good for Palin for being a mom. It makes her so unique, kinda like a snowflake. Give me a break. And there ain’t nothing classy about her. There is no such thing as a “classy” republican. Republicans are born asshats. TrueFax. Scientifically proven.

So vote for McCain. I’ll be the one fleeing the country and disavowing any knowledge of this malarkey.

Here’s to hoping you don’t fuck it up for the rest of us.

    • Ai1een

Well you guys DO have your HOPE – but WE’VE now got a lock on CHANGE…WE’RE BACKING McCain…experts say it will only take about 6% of former Hillary supporters to put McCain over the top…

      Buh Bye.

      • Manda

You give me the name of your “experts.”

And I’ll give you my disbelief.

CNN’s little map thingy shows that Obama is leading by 25 “safe” electoral votes. He has an additional 73 “leaning” votes.

123 votes are up for grabs.

        He’s up by 4%.

I just love how everyone believes that McCain is still some kind of maverick. He hasn’t been dynamic since he lost the 2000 primaries.

He’s a sad old man making a power grab. I have no doubt that he’ll make some polarizing blunder by November. His POW argument is wearing thin, and now he’s picked this total unknown.

You can argue that Palin has experience governing, but so did Bush.

        • Ai1een

Experts – Bob Beckel, Democratic strategist for one and Rachel Maddow.

Obama’s up by 4%? Sad. He should be up by more than 15%.

Obama will probably go up for a few more days – but then so will McCain because of the Republican Convention and Palin. His choice has completely energized and innervated the conservatives and religious right in that party and it WILL pull in a certain percentage of the Hillary supporters and we don’t give a GD whether you like it or not quite frankly.

As far as the POW thing getting old – that’s rich – coming from the candidate of “poor ole me I was raised by a poor single mother with food stamps and …I’m part black” Not only is all of that a LIE…we’re tired of hearing it when everyone knows he was raised by his upper middle class grandparents, went to am elite private school in Hawaii, Columbia University and Harvard.

And by the way – AGEISM is just as repulsive as RACISM. You are a disgrace.

As far as power grab – my response to you is DUH? Obama made his selection for Biden which opposed everything upon which he based his campaign – CHANGE.

McCain made his choice because Palin represents true change. She is someone who doesn’t just TALK about change – she’s done it – and within her own party. In contrast, Obama has GROWN the corruption within his own party.

      • Ai1een

I’m talking about 6% Hillary supporters plus the given HUGE influx of conservatives and religious right who are ECSTATIC over Palin.

Should have PICKED Hillary…should have VETTED Hillary…shouldn’t have had Obama’s rep say “we don’t need them” because…guess what? …

        YOU DO.

    • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

      excuse me…

didn’t 18 million of us…THE MAJORITY try to tell the DNC the same thing about Obama?

and Palin is in the co-pilot seat.. we put OUR EMPTY SUIT at the top of the ticket

  • politicsIsdirty

Palin ran against a powerful Republican in the Gov primary and won. Then she ran against a Democrat and won the office of Gov.

Obama used Chicago politics to disqualify his opponent.

  • PewL

Many Jealous Democrats on the boards today..Every board I’ve gone on,and taken the poll on Mccain and Palin,,,it’s an overwheming ticket saying great ticket…wow..I’m looking forward to the debates…Palin I believe is going on Fox in a couple of weeks…I guess she’s not afraid…lol

    Loved Hillary.

    Mccain/Palin

    • Manda

Why would she be afraid of Fox? They’re the mouthpiece of the RNC. They’ll probably softball her some questions about eating mooseburgers or what it’s like being a working mother.

I doubt they’ll ask her about the scandal over her abusing power. They probably won’t ask her about global warming. And they sure as hell won’t ask her what it’s like being the running mate of a misogynistic old man.

No, Bill O’Reilly will probably offer her his own personal loofah, and Hannity will be tripping over himself to cozy up to her and McCain.

I think I’m more scared than she is. Fox frightens me.

      • roseeriter

You phony progressive democrats Hillary haters and obama koolaid drinkers scare me for than Fox.

  • nhkat

One of the Fox News anchors said that they had seen Palin in the Governors Debates in 2006 and that she was fierce. I was(am) a Hillary supporter and I love McCain’s pick. True, Palin is a conservative, and I don’t agree with all of her views but, my gut tells me this is one HONEST woman and Washington could use that BIG TIME! I like that she made the choice to keep her baby even knowing that it had downs syndrome. Many people preach to others but, will not “walk the walk”. She says what she means and means what she says and I find it refreshing after listening to Obama the windbag go on and on about how wonderful he is and how smart he is and then flip flop on his “core” campaign issues from the primaries (FISA, campaign finance reform). I think this was a great pick by McCain and shows he can compromise…she is a woman (obviously!), she is conservative (calms his party down and reigns most of them in), she has executive experience that Obama doesn’t have at the top of the ticket, she isn’t an “insider”, she speaks like an everyday person…comes across as one of us, and as a mom of five…I think she is. When you have five children, you have to care about economic issues deeply. I would have voted for Hillary but, since the DNC stole the election and gave it to the less qualified male, I will vote McCain/Palin with no regrets.

  • http://www.thegsblog.com/ zaine_ridling

Wow, McCain surprised me by having the guts that obama will never have. obama lost this election today because here’s how visceral it now is:

95% of blacks can vote for obama, but I guarantee you that 99% of the good ol’ boys and at least 45% of Hillary supporters will crossover and vote for McCain… just this once.

  • TeakwoodKite

    Obama McCain
    —– % ——
    Biden Palin

good . Obama is going to be redirected to Palin.
And have Hillary rubbed in his face everyday he breaths.

What else is there? If it was about getting a woman with qualifications, it would have been Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Christine Todd Whitman.

She’s an absolutely disastrous choice, and I’m filled with glee over it. From the Anchorage Daily News:

The reaction wasn’t so rosy elsewhere. State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to tell her the news.

“She’s not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said Green, a Republican from Palin’s hometown of Wasilla. “Look at what she’s done to this state. What would she do to the nation?”

I’m not saying that she’s unqualified because she’s a woman, I’m saying that the fact that she’s a woman is the only qualification she has. But continue to be blistering idiots if that’s what floats your boat.

  • maribelle

Their brains are experiencing a tectonic shift of catastrophic proportions. McCain, it seems, has pushed their hot buttons setting of wide-spread hysteria amoung Obama’s blogcult.

ummmmmmmmmmmm, McCain is trying to appeal to democrats while still appealing holding to conservatives. Kay Bailey Hutchinson has been an apologist for the Bush administration for the last eight years and Christine Todd Whitman was part of the Bush administration. They’d be BIG turnoffs… to democrats. Palin on the other hand seems to have just enough or the maverick in her to appeal to democrats the same way McCain does but also has enough of “conservative values” to appeal to conservatives. To fit that bill McCain couldn’t have picked a better running mate.

  • http://www.greensunshine.net jadwiga

For an unprepared governor, Palin doing a hell of a job. Cool.

I’m not referring to her as a vagina, and if you had even a dribble of reading comprehension you’d be able to figure that out. I’m saying that her vagina is the only thing she brings to the table.

    Ash,
You obviously have no credentials or educational background. You are too defensive.

By making a statement (i.e., Go back to College) GDMO, you are reflecting on your own inadequacies.

By attacking people, it’s clear you know you have no ground to stand on and are losing the debate.

I guess that would depend on your definition of “sexist.” If you’re using one that means “not at all caring whether someone’s a man or a woman in a position where that distinction is not at all relevant” then, sure. I mean, I’m not going to start complaining about the dearth of women playing quarterback in the National Football League. I am mildly peeved that Joe Biden got the nod for VP over Kathleen Sebelius, but I understand the logic behind the decision.

Troll, well, I typically define a troll as someone who posts without content on a forum or blog for the express purpose of pissing off the regulars, so I guess you’d be about a quarter right; I find getting my blood pressure up in a good debate is a zesty, invigorating enterprise.

Not very bright? Well, I suppose every teacher, friend, relative, and acquaintance I’ve ever had could have been lying to me, but I think Mensa, International has stricter standards than that.

    So, come again?

Do you believe that women and men have to dress a certain way? WOW! Isn’t that a sexist way to think!

But it is also insightful into a homophobic philosophy on your part.

The New Democrats are not only racist and sexist, they are also homophobic. No wonder Obama wouldn’t meet with the Mayor of San Francisco last year.
