Go, Geraldine Ferraro!

That was a great interview today, Geraldine (despite the audio problem at the beginnning). You were the first, and we’ll always remember you for that. And you’ll always be in our hearts for your bravery in the face of hideous and wholly unfair attacks on you during this primary season.

And I hope you got to read Geraldine Ferraro’s outstanding op-ed, “What Hillary Clinton’s women want,” published yesterday in the New York Daily News:

Hillary Clinton’s speech before the convention on Tuesday night was brilliant. It reminded me of the one that Jesse Jackson gave in 1984 after a very contentious primary, when his name would be put into nomination the next evening and his 465-1/2 delegate votes would be recorded in the history books. His speech soared with reminders of a historic campaign, thanked supporters and recognized it was time to move on as a unified party.

Hillary’s remarks, however, went even further than Jackson’s did 24 years ago – by pressing for support, over and over, for her former opponent, Barack Obama, and urging party unity as the only way to defeat John McCain in November.

She could not have done more. And despite what some of Obama’s supporters seem to feel, responsibility for a contentious campaign does not rest solely on her shoulders.

It seems to me there are now three distinct groups of Hillary Clinton supporters.

The first are the PUMAs – which, as everyone now knows, stands for “Party Unity My A–.” For them – and over the last two weeks I have received hundreds of letters from women who consider themselves PUMAs – nothing Hillary could say or do would move them. They are livid at the sexist way that Hillary was treated by the media, and even angrier at the Obama people, the Democratic National Committee and Howard Dean as chairman, for not speaking up against it.

They believe that sexism is larger than this presidential race, that it seeps into the fiber of our country and must be stopped. They are convinced that if the media had been racist against Obama, Howard Dean would have been shouting from the hilltops – and so would have Hillary. They feel the party accepted a double standard, and many have indicated that they will either vote for McCain, write in Hillary’s name or just not vote for President.

Those people were outside of Hillary’s reach on Tuesday night.

A second group of Clinton supporters is those who chose her over Obama but who consider themselves good Democrats and will vote for the nominee. They also would never think of voting for McCain, primarily because of two vital, closely related issues of their concern: the Supreme Court and abortion.

That leaves the middle group. These are the women (and in smaller numbers, men) to whom Hillary was reaching out in her speech. They were on the fence; some of them remain there. They were disappointed when she didn’t win the nomination and let down further when she wasn’t chosen, apparently wasn’t even seriously considered, to be Obama’s running mate.

They were not only a significant number of the delegates in the convention hall on Tuesday night, but they are also the blue-collar ethnics and older voters in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida, who came out in large numbers for her toward the end of the campaign.

Gerry Ferraro will always be one of my heroes.

I heard her speak when she visited Washington as a VP candidate.

She also endured a press conference when her husband was having some sort of difficulties — the press were idiots — I lost a lot of my respect for the press. The idiot press kept asking the same damned question — and she gave the same answer. Each talking head wanted to be on tape asking “the question”. I don’t remember the detail — only the fact that the talking heads were idiots.

She has a lot of class and is a real lady — I will never forgive Obama for trashing her reputation.

    • nyc

      Queens smarts. GF still tops!

    • memi

      Yes.

Ferraro is one of my heroes, too!

Why has it taken a quarter century to put a woman on a Pres. ticket? The answer is in the windbags of the misogynist frat-boy media types that pushed a fraudulent Obamarama to a fraudulent ‘finish line’ of superdels.

I don’t agree with Palin’s right-wing views. But she did vote to block an anti-abortion bill in Alaska once and also, she believes and used her veto to allow partner benefits for gays!

palin is not an extremist moron! She’s qualified and her journalism degree and Baraccuda basketball skills, and her being a mother–supreme qualification–are dynamite creds.

Now the Obamabatrons are attacking Palin viciuosly and the misogynist media.

WE NEED ANTI-WOMAN-HATRED LAWS FOR THE MEDIA AND THE SOONER WE FIGHT FOR LEGISLATION ABOLISHING MISOGYNY–WITH FERRARO AND PALIN’S AND HILLARY’S HELP–THE MORE PROGRESS WE’LL SEE ON ISSUES THAT MATTER!

SEXISM HURTS AS MUCH AS RACISM. BUT WE ARE NOT PROTECTED. OBAMA WAS PROTECTED. IMUS WAS FIRED. CHRIS MATTHEWS AND KEITH OLBERMANN ABUSED HILLARY AND GOT AWAY WITH IT!!

SWEETIE, KARMA’S A BITCH….NOV. 5 YOU’LL GET PAID BACK FOR YOUR COWARDLY ACT OF IGNORING HILLARY AS V-PRESIDENT!

JFK WAS NOT A COWARD. HE KNEW WHICH SIDE HIS POLITICAL LEGACY WAS BUTTERED. AND HE APPOINTED LYNDON B. JOHNNSON HIS ARCH-ENEMY ON THE TICKET AS V-P — AND WON IN 1960!

  • Susan1968

When Geraldine Ferraro was a court Judge she was famous for being brilliant on the bench!

Sexism is so institutionalized in this country that even “Progressives” and “Enlightened” people are blind to their own sexist beliefs and remarks.

    • Grail Guardian

      I couldn’t agree more!

Gerry Ferraro is a class act. Hillary Clinton is a class act. Sarah Palin is a class act. Barack Obama is just crass.

America is so enamored of her sexism and racism undercover. Yet when racism against blacks came to the fore in this election, America collectively bristled and castigated the accused (without bothering to look at the facts). When racism against Latinos, Jews, Native Americans and Asians was brought to the fore, America collectively yawned. When sexism was brought to the fore, America collectively cried “shut up you old bitches!”

I guess the right advertising agency makes all the difference. Wake up people – you’ve been played (again).

      • memi

        To misquote…

        No class, no way, Nobama!

        Sweetie, Karma’s a bitch!

Now Ferraro can be the SECOND least qualified token woman ever nominated for V.P.

hmm..I mean….ummm you should be more concerned about THE most unqualified person to run for POTUS…Barry Soretoes-Obama-Durham whatever his name is….I wouldn’t mention the “e” word, Barry says it’s racist to mention it…I’d have to say your reference to it is sexist. In your opinion, ummm, is there any woman anywhere in America who is qualified to be president at this time or any time in the history of this country? This is not a rhetorical question and I demand your answer. Has there ever been an African American male in this country in our history qualified to be president before BO? Again, this is not rhetorical and I demand an answer. If you answer no to both these questions, you are not only a sexist pig, but a racist as well because you will be admitting only white men are fit to be president since BO is only half black.

      • Northwest rain

Obamabots are sexist pigs and feel the need to remind us of that fact whenever possible.

I would argue and say that your mother was obviously the worst. Maybe we should introduce you to Sarah Palin. She might change her mind about abortion.

    • Obama is a bum

ummm: Are you Obama? You sound just like him.

Unfortunately for you, Obama is the least qualified person ever nominated to run for the presidency.

    • C.S.

Why is it that men who run the country must denigrate every woman to make themselves feel good?

In spite of being over half of the population women are still second class citizens in a country that prides itself on equality for all citizens of any race, religion or gender?

Why do men, and some women, consider women inferior? Is it a religious doctrine? We know that many religions do not consider women equal, some won’t even allow women in the same sections of a church, temple, or mosque. Is it that simple? Women are still considered “unclean” by some religions? Because we are the only civilized nation to never have had a woman lead us in spite of our history of women’s long and hard fought struggle for equality.

You will not find a more qualified male candidate than the women who have struggle in this country; from African American Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, to Senator Hillary Clinton. There is no woman candidate that would satisfy the male politicians if these two women are not qualified enough. And now these same men and women are criticizing Senator McCain for his Vice Presidential choice with the very same reasoning!

Even Moldova is more progressive than the U. S.

I’ve been thinking that if McCain had chosen the Virgin Mary, the Oborg would accuse him of pandering to Catholics and say she was inexperienced because Yeshua was her first child. C.S: Be happy you’re not a Muslim.

(Islam has three texts that form their holy books. The Quran (Allah’s direct words), the Hadith (The oral traditions, later written, of eyewitness accounts of the sayings and doings of Mohemmed), and the Sira (written Ishaq, which is a sacrilized biography of Mohemmed’s life and the only text that is written as a narrative.. the Quran and Hadith have no context))

I present what Islam thinks of women as recorded in the Quran, the Hadith (by Tabari, Muslim, and Bukhari) , and the Sira (by Ishaq):

Tabari IX:113 “Allah permits you to shut them in separate rooms and to beat them, but not severely. If they abstain, they have the right to food and clothing. Treat women well for they are like domestic animals and they possess nothing themselves. Allah has made the enjoyment of their bodies lawful in his Qur’an.”

Tabari I:280 “Allah said, ‘It is My obligation to make Eve bleed once every month as she made this tree bleed. I must also make Eve stupid, although I created her intelligent.’ Because Allah afflicted Eve, all of the women of this world menstruate and are stupid.”

Qur’an 4:11 “Allah directs you in regard of your Children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females…. These are settled portions ordained by Allah.”

Bukhari:V1B22N28 “The Prophet said: ‘I was shown the Hell Fire and the majority of its dwellers were women who are disbelievers or ungrateful.’ When asked what they were ungrateful for, the Prophet answered, ‘All the favors done for them by their husbands.’”

Muslim:B1N142 “‘O womenfolk, you should ask for forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell.’ A wise lady said: Why is it, Allah’s Apostle, that women comprise the bulk of the inhabitants of Hell? The Prophet observed: ‘You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. You lack common sense, fail in religion and rob the wisdom of the wise.’ Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense? The Prophet replied, ‘Your lack of common sense can be determined from the fact that the evidence of two women is equal to one man. That is a proof.’”

Qur’an 4:43 “Believers, approach not prayers with a mind befogged or intoxicated until you understand what you utter. Nor when you are polluted, until after you have bathed. If you are ill, or on a journey, or come from answering the call of nature, or you have touched a woman, and you find no water, then take for yourselves clean dirt, and rub your faces and hands. Lo! Allah is Benign, Forgiving.” [The Qur'an claims women are unclean and polluted - worse than dirt.]

Bukhari:V4B55N547 “The Prophet said, ‘But for the Israelis, meat would not decay, and if it were not for Eve, wives would never betray their husbands.’”

Qur’an 33:59 “Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and all Muslim women to draw cloaks and veils all over their bodies (screening themselves completely except for one or two eyes to see the way). That will be better.”

Qur’an 4:15 “If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four witnesses from amongst you against them; if they testify, confine them to houses until death [by starvation] claims them.”

        Bukhari:V4B52N143
V5B59N523 “When we reached Khaybar, Muhammad said that Allah had enabled him to conquer them. It was then that the beauty of Safiyah was described to him. Her husband had been killed, so Allah’s Apostle selected her for himself. He took her along with him till we reached a place called Sad where her menses were over and he took her for his wife, consummating his marriage to her, and forcing her to wear the veil.’”

Bukhari:V5B59N524 “The Muslims said among themselves, ‘Will Safiyah be one of the Prophet’s wives or just a lady captive and one of his possessions?’”

Ishaq:593 “From the captives of Hunayn, Allah’s Messenger gave [his son-in-law] Ali a slave girl called Baytab and he gave [future Caliph] Uthman a slave girl called Zaynab and [future Caliph] Umar another.”

Bukhari:V3B48N826 “The Prophet said, ‘Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.’”

Ishaq:584 “Tell the men with you who have wives: never trust a woman.”

Ishaq:185 “In hell I saw women hanging by their breasts. They had fathered bastards.”

Qur’an 24:31 “Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty except what (must) appear; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display them except to their husbands…”

Qur’an 24:34 “Force not your slave-girls to whoredom (prostitution) if they desire chastity, that you may seek enjoyment of this life. [And here's the freedom-to-pimp card:] But if anyone forces them, then after such compulsion, Allah is oft-forgiving.”

Ishaq:469 “The Apostle said, ‘Every wailing woman lies except those who wept for Sa’d.’”

        Tabari VIII:62
Ishaq:496 “Ali [Muhammad's adopted son, son-in-law, and future Caliph] said, ‘Prophet, women are plentiful. You can get a replacement, easily changing one for another.’”

Ishaq:496 “Ask the slave girl; she will tell you the truth.’ So the Apostle called Burayra to ask her. Ali got up and gave her a violent beating first, saying, ‘Tell the Apostle the truth.’”

Qur’an 24:1 “(This is) a surah which We have revealed and made obligatory and in which We have revealed clear communications that you may be mindful. For the woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah. And let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.”

Qur’an 24:6 “And for those who launch a charge against their wives, accusing them, but have no witnesses or evidence, except themselves; let the testimony of one of them be four testimonies, (swearing four times) by Allah that he is the one speaking the truth.”

        • C.S.

Thanks for doing that research for me, I have seen enough bigotry in my grandmother’s Christian church to last me a lifetime. And I still think that Obama got his opinion of women from his time spent in Indonesia where his mother became a non person not even important enough to be put on his school enrollment papers. And she chose that life!

    Ok!

So when are the handcuffs going to be put on Soetoro/Obama?

First, he was only the presumtive nominee…well, now he is the democratic nominee for president.

Johnson said the republicans had the BC or COLB. Now, I don’t believe it. If the republicans can get it so can the democrats and so can Johnson.

Soetoro/Obama won’t show it except for forgeries on his website. So, about NQ doing their own lawsuit instead of only talking….

I’ve been reading this site for 3 months. And, something is always going to happen.

Then you decide not to keep updates on Berg v Obama. At least Attorney Berg didn’t just talk about it. You aren’t posting updates because you know that people will want to know why NQ just keeps us bouncing up and down.

Oh yeah….or it’s so great that you have started to put all these articles about woman….BS

I’m fed up!!! Just keep talking about what the MSM isn’t doing……..

  • BobO

Obama can trying to identify with the working America vote. He can sing songs from middle America and rhetoric his heart out. What people want are the policy positions Hillary was presenting as she went through her campaign. Why do they want them? Because they will work. Is Obama presenting them? For the most part, no. For him to win he has to adopt her policies and then convince people he’s not lying through his teeth.

One thing McCain has done for women everywhere is proving how sexist America still is. I hate his economic policies and think his entire platform is written by corporation but this pick is truly impressive. Never had I heard so much hatred, put downs come out fast except….oops, for Hillary.

But, the thing is because America is so sexist and discriminatory towards women, it’s possible McCain will gain some women voters and lose the sexist vote.

    • Grail Guardian

The difference is that the Republicans are more about policy. They’ll look past not liking her gender because she’s pro-life (and a poster child to boot after choosing to have a Down’s Syndrome child and calling the child a Gift from God when he was born), a life member of the NRA, supports drilling for American oil, and goes after government waste. She’s also the one that stopped the rather embarrassing Republican Bridge to Nowhere.

No, the Republicans will look past that and embrace her. Last night I saw Über-Conservative Bay Buchannan sing Palin’s praises (as Campbell Brown struggled to stop her from saying anything at all after she realized Bay wasn’t going to provide the bash against Palin that she’d obviously expected). Trust me; I live in a very conservative area, and Republicans were celebrating yesterday after the announcement. They don’t dislike women, just Hillary Clinton.

      • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 VinceP1974

It’s fascinating how people can say “Republicans don’t like women”

Perhaps *some* don’t… but in any group of human beings you’re going to find that.. there is nothing about the Republican Party (which I am not a member) or Conservatism (which I am) that is anti-female gender.

I spent last night hanging out in Alan Colmes blog, LiberalLand.. you want to see some people who hate her for being a woman.. check out the Lefties there.

      • RepublicanChick

I cannot speak for all Republicans, but I don’t like any party that panders to race or gender exclusively. Obama’s Coronation reminds me why I hate such pandering.

More conservatives, that I know, are going to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket because of her. It matters to many Republicans that she’s a conservative first and foremost.

    • GetOverIt

NEW PROPAGANDA (08/29, evening): Palin is a threat. Don’t just stand there– make Hillary Clinton get off her butt and do something!

    • Obama is a bum

I am interested in what Hillary Clinton has to say about this. I know what Obama wants her to do, so we will find out if Hillary is on Obama’s leash and trashes Sarah Palin or decides to put some distance between herself and Obama. Those who allow themselves to be used by Obasketcase will pay a price down the road. Obasketcase is a disaster, those who can get off his bandwagon first will be the ones who will rebuild the Democratic party.

      • http://democratsforrealchange.info Dr. bobbi Anne white

right. she has to think like a pioneer now, and Sarah Palin and her own daughter, Chelsea, as the benefactor of her efforts. If i were Hillary, I would switch parties right now. The Democratic party has shown that it is sexist.

    • C.S.

      JohninCA

That is so funny. But the truth also hurts because all through Obama’s “historic” campaign that’s been the plan: Obama’s “nomination” in trouble, go tell Hillary to fix it. But she has no role in his extravaganza campaign now. He’s on his own. And he will fall on his own sexist remarks because he’s now saying sexist stuff about a Republican and they don’t have to play by DNC “rules”.

  • WMCB

The misogynist nastiness against Palin is ramping up. I swear, if this crap keeps up, I am about ready to just make myself one rule:

Got a vagina? Don’t attack other women? You’ve got my vote. Period. I don’t give a fuck what your policies are.

That approach to politics seems to have worked well enough to give the 12% AA community a HELL of a lot of clout. Good on ‘em. I may just follow that winning example and try it.

    • karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now)

That thought has been under this whole election process and what we kept saying is well Hillary is more experienced, she is vetted, she is stable and quick with correct answers and not error prone, she appeals to a wider dem base, she has this great husband who is loved far and wide by the people, but although that was the truth, and although she won more votes, she in the end wasn’t a ruthless thug who was willing to steal the election and she wasn’t propped up by soros, acorn, moveon and the FREAKS at the DNC elite. She also didn’t have the money machine and she also wasn’t pushing the republicans to be a dem for a day to beat her opponent… etc.

Maybe it should have all been about a vagina.

You are right, for the AA it was all about skin. I know that was largely the case because I did phone banking for Hillary and 9 out of 10 times when I reached an AA household they told me they loved Bill and Hill but were voting for the black guy, some of them didn’t even know his NAME, talk about frustrating.

One man, I recall crystal clear started crying after we talked for a few minutes. He told me he felt bad, he told me the Clinton’s had done so much for his community and he knew Hillary was being attacked unfairly and it bothered him a lot. So I asked if we can count on his vote? He burst out in tears and started telling me about his dead mother etc. clearly he struggled with his choice right? NOPE, he then asked ME what the name of the black guy was because he wanted to vote for the black KID. I said Obama. He said, no that isn’t the name. I said, yes it is, Barack Obama. He said are you sure… this went on, till somebody in the background said that sounded like the right name to them.

So yes, we should have just said we are voting the vagina ticket. We are over 50% of the party.

Forget that ob is a lying sack of crap with a past that shouldn’t allow him to be dog catcher, it don’t matter he is HALF SORTA black arab indonesian kenyan hawaiian kansan south side chicago corrupt.

The other thing that is SURE to infuriate me any day now is that we heard from the ob sexists how

“we aren’t sexist towards women, it is just towards THAT woman, it is just because it is SHILLERY, HITLERY, BILLARY, that we call her a c*nt, b*tch and tell her to know her place.”

Well, we ALL know the second Sarah Palin says one thing that might be used against her and twisted all out of proportion they will. And they have already revamped up their sexist machine engines.

It has a vagina, it cannot be VP or President.

Wait, it isn’t that Hillary was the candidate, we knew all along it was any woman. How do we know that? We have all had it done to us – our whole lives.

Thanks, I needed to get all that out! sorry for the rant. ;-)

And THANK YOU for the rant!! Brava!!

      • Joe Biden’s hair plugs speak out!

Actually I’m glad you shared the phone bank incident with us.

Last night I referred to Black Republicans and conservatives crossing over to vote for Obama based on his race alone. I can understand how people of color would finally feel validated by the ability to vote for someone not 100% Caucasian in a Presidential election, even if they have to abandon their core principles to do so. It is our right as American citizens to cast our vote as we please.

I even have a sense of pride that a man of color is now the top of the ticket, it’s just a damn shame that it had to be an unqualified and unvetted candidate. I always was for McCain due to the national security issue, and I believe he will do a better job of keeping our great nation, populated by a diverse and multi-cultural citizenry – safe.

I’m female, I never have cast a vote based on a candidate’s sex alone. However I will say that the Palin choice did lift my spirit and give me a renewed confidence and RESPECT for the candidate I’d already chosen. Karen: the groups who consistently vote identity: AAs, evangelicals, to name two – have never been shy about admitting their votes aren’t necessarily cast based on serious review and consideration of a candidate’s position on the issues, resume, associations, what have you. They have in effect given us the OK to vote for any female candidate we darn well please, based on her sex alone. Unapologetically, and unabashedly.

        To quote WMCB above:

That approach to politics seems to have worked well enough to give the 12% AA community a HELL of a lot of clout.

        • Grail Guardian

And they’ve been counting on our guilt to stop us from doing just that. The last 20 hours have made me get over my guilt. Right now I’d vote for a Susan Smith/Aileen Wuornos ticket if it would defeat Obama and the blantant sexist men and women pigs that are the DNC!

It was obviously not about Hillary. It was about Ovaries. So let’s have some, ladies (and gents) and send these arrogant asses back to the oblivion they came from (and seem to love so well)!

There is also a HUGE group out here that will not vote for Sen Obama-
Its about putting country first-party second.
Sen Clinton was the most highly qualified candidate to serve as president of the USA. Now that the DNC tossed her aside-all bets off.

My country’s welfare always comes first in my choices.

There is no way I could ever vote for a person that I know so little about-and to make matters worse…

what I do know about him really frightens me with regards to trusting him (Sen Obama) and his entourage taking over our US govt…I do not want ANY of Sen Obama’s friends, mentors, associates, campaign team getting ANYWHERE near Washington DC, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights.

This man is about political expediency-no moral compass-what will he ‘negotiate or give away’ IF he becomes president? He has MANY MANY favors to return if he gets elected.

Don’t be sorry, it was long overdue. You aren’t the the minority they portray you as; you’re the MAJORITY and it’s about time bigoted of any race or gender hear you.

For months I heard the media knock Hillary Clinton as well as read vile comments directed at Hillary by Obama supporters throughout youtube. The same thing is starting against Sarah Palin. As long as people are willing to tolerate this, everytime a woman challenges for president or VP they will get picked apart.

McCain is friends with Clinton and I think he felt she got ripped by the Democratic party and this may have influenced his decision to pick Palin. This is it for John McCain, he will never run for president again if he loses. McCain may have had safer options than picking Sarah Palin — I am hoping Palin can step up and be impressive during the campaign and the debate.

      • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton, the first woman to win a presidential primary, said in the statement. “While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

Hillary’s remarks. Note the reference to HRC as the first woman to win a presidential primary!

Incase you aren’t pissed off enough with this election season here’s a couple articles for you.

Free speech can go to hell according to obamabot Keith Olberman- A AP reporter panned the bambi speech and Olberman ripped him to shreds on air and said he should find a new job here

And this typical liberal article states that we are only a few women or as they put it “among some women” who are upset Hillary didn’t get the nomination .. they make it sound like we are only a few , so insignificant no one should bother paying attention.-here.. understand this article is not about that topic but the way they reference it, intentionally is annoying beyond words.

    • http://! Clinton Fan

Send twenty dollars and eight cents (2008) to McCain, and on the line where they ask who recommended the contribution page to you, write in Senator Hillary Clinton!!!

I did–it wasn’t my idea, but I liked it. It’s certainly a way to let the GOP know how to win this thing, this year.

      • karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now)

As soon as McCain announced Palin I felt Hillary’s whole campaign had not been for naught. We were heard and we were heard by a man who has been nothing but respectful and inclusive to everyone and understood our plight and didn’t underestimate our voting power.

He also chose a hell of a firecracker, and I admire that in any woman, she don’t take no bs from nobody.

She is the total opposite of ob. She isn’t about WORDS, she actually was above corruption and she actually fought it and produced results for her constituents and made their lives better.

Ob always takes the money and screws the people.

That is the only place I wrote in Hillary, when election day comes I am not wasting my vote.

        It was strictly ghetto mentality.

The attacks on women and other democratic voters was disgusting. The faux new democratic party deserves to lose and the phony leaders run out of the party.

        • Grail Guardian

Truth Alert! Don’t read if you’re a Bot that can’t handle it!

          Helen,

Ghettos (for all races, including whites) were common in Europe long before there were black slaves in the US. It refers more to an area designated for the poorest caste of society, and usually occupies the least valuable real estate that’s closest to the area where the residents are forced to work in abhorrent conditions because they have no transportation available. In America, they are not strictly limited to urban areas as much of the rural south could be included from a dictionary standpoint.

Like much else in history, ghettos are something blacks of African descent in this country have co-opted as their own and ignore that millions of others occupied them in the past. The main difference is that the Jews, Irish, Germans, Italians, Asians, Poles, Russians, Hispanics, non-African blacks, etc. have eventually decided to leave the ghettos through hard work and perseverance. African Americans are the first group that has (more often than not) opted to renew the lease.

I know that will set many off, but it is historical fact. Please do not misinterpret my comments – I mean no disrespect to the negroid race whatsoever, and have great respect for most blacks. But just like there are many flavors of white, there are also many flavors of black. You will not generally find blacks from the Southwest Indies or the Caribbean Islands (for instance) in ghettos (at least not for generations).

From a sociological standpoint, Barack Obama has tapped into this phenomenon and manipulated this mindset in ghetto African Americans into believing they are entitled to something that this country does not give away for free. Again, I know this will bring out the flamers, but it is true. There are many, many black supporters of Hillary and Bill Clinton, but from what I can see the only ones that have abandoned them for Obama are those who have bought into the whole Affirmative Action concept. Those that have thought it out have remained faithful to the ones that brought them to the dance, so to speak.

I have been labeled a racist for months now, threatened and called about every name in the book. So I figured what the hell. Let’s put it out there. I no longer have anything to lose – it’s all been taken from me by the DNC and Obama’s handlers. And as history will also tell you, that makes me a very dangerous person.

But while I’m here, The Who vs. Zep. Discuss.

The Who – one of the greatest bands ever.
Led Zeppelin – not as bad as they sound. ;-)

Now I’m mostly into new age, but I still like to listen to Zeppelin, AC/DC, Nuggent, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Stones, Scorpions, etc..etc. Zeppelin though has always been my favorite. At one time I was a Zeppelin Parrothead talk about a difference in music. ;) Good old Jimmy Buffet. I still enjoy his music also.

Ooops stick to the topic Diana! …Geraldine, what can I say, this audio isn’t surprising, she was great when she was running for VP. She’s still great to me.

    • karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now)

Both held a special place in my life decades ago and both are still firmly implanted in my memory banks.

      I pick both.

As for Hillary or Ob, that is no frakin contest, yet look how THAT turned out.

Hillary was the better band with all original material.

Obama copied all her songs and won American Idol.

      • beebop

          Hillary-Led Zepplin
Obama-Zed Lepplin (don’t laugh they are real cover band, I’ve seen them)

Basically a pathetic attempt to copy.

      • Ferdberfle

Oblahblah plays for a garage band.

    • Ferdberfle

The Who-the very best. Who’s Next is a classic.
      LZ-LZIV, of course

I would add Pink Floyd, any album through Animals, as well.

      • Grail Guardian

Yeah, but you have to include The Wall. In fact, Comfortably Numb pretty well describes the remainder of the Democrat party right now…

        • Ferdberfle

Agreed. Also, any track from Animals including the word pig is also appropriate.

      • Diana

Oh yeah! Pink Floyd and Queen how could I leave them off my list.

As a long time conservative, I feel that this election has really changed my viewpoint on a few things.

Before this year, my view of Hillary was not very positive. [I'm not looking for an argument, so I won't elaborate on that]

And of course, being conservative, I’m very “sensitive” to seeing media bias against “my side”

I never really contemplated the Press ever turning their guns on her.. but seeing that they decided to become a part of the Messiah’s Annointing, I wasn’t surprised by how dirty the Press would be once they declared her the target.

As the abuse got worse I started to notice Hillary’s determination.. the fight in her. [Alas, her stupid lies about Bosnia really hurt her at a critical time I think.. I think it was right in the middle or aftermath of the Wright video tapes].

Then there came a point where it seems she relaxed.. or changed her demeanor.. (I think in April?) and I almost liked her… certainly I no longer disliked her.

her appearance on OReilly was great. I didn’t agree with anything she said.. but finally… i can see who she is, she was animated.. she was funny.

She should have been like that since the beginning. The Dems Boycotting Fox was stupid… nothing brings out the best in people like a little bit of challenge.. and OReilly’s interview of her… even though I agreed with nothing.. really took away any last bit of active dislike.

And for Geraldine Ferraro… I think it’s horrible how they tried to make her out to be a racist in the winter..a nd how for a while it seemed she was going to stop speaking out publically.. I’m so glad she resurfaced not too long after that.

I’ve said some of these things before.. but posts like this always makes me rethink my thoughts and I’d thought maybe someone might be interested in them.

    • Northwest rain

Thank you — I appreciate that you took the time to listen to Hillary.

    • Katmoon

This is what we have missed for so long, and it is wonderful to hear your thoughts, you will find we have a great deal in common. You can bet we won’t sit back and watch Gov. Palin get attacked either.
This election season has brought me to a place to be able to listen again, I admit I had become very anti-Bush/Republican, prior to the primaries. After experiencing the ugliest division I could imagine for the manufactured reason of racism, I no long hold a prejudice toward a party, it will be against a candidate who perpetuates such lies and does nothing to stop them. I am not a one issue voter, and honestly as time has gone on some of my perceptions have changed on issues and some remain the same. I am sad to see what has brought many of us together, but have an understanding of how we got here, and can appreciate a more thoughtful approach to the candidates.
I admit I still harbor ill feelings toward the DNC and O/supporters, due to the outright disgusting behavior of circumventing and undercutting. I hope that goes away. Regardless I will be voting for Senator MCCain & Gov. Palin, for many reasons, that I can support and agree with. Thanks again Vince for your clarity and understanding. Good insight.

      • Joe Biden’s hair plugs speak out!

You can bet we won’t sit back and watch Gov. Palin get attacked either.

McCain won’t stand for it, the conservative media won’t tolerate it, some of the MSM may even be shamed into something that resembles civilized behavior and commentary. (not referring to KO – he’s just lost any attachment to reality and has established permanent residence in Zeusbama’s Bizzaroworld).

an aside about MSNBC – there have been rumors that GE wants to unload its NBC operation. That may be why there’s little to no concern evident about that once reasonable cable channel’s ratings tanking. There certainly has been no pressure from on high for them to get their act together. Drudge used to publish the audience numbers for the cable channels, MSNBC and CNN were always hovering around the bottom.

        • Grail Guardian

Have you watched or read any of the coverage? The MSM is still at it, Plugz. Blatant Sexism abounds unabated. As my grandmother would say, no rest for the wicked!

I’ve really only seen a little bit of Bill O’Reilly last night, nothing else. I do expect the McCain camp to come out strong against any sexist abuse directed at Governor Palin. Most likely he will challenge Obama to put a stop to the trash talk and harassment of the Republican Veep pick.

Soebutthead will most likely reply in a lame and ineffective way, per SOP.

      • Darryl

Speaking of anti-bush. I was talking to a friend who was just livid I was voteing for McCain, and they had the audacity to say I was anti-Obama. I thought it was the most Ironic thing, because here this person was yelling at me ruining a long friendship, calling me stupid, all because THEY are so anti-republican, lol.

        • Diana

One thing I thing I’ve learned this election, pretty sad it’s taken me this long to learn it. I will never again vote for party simply because it’s party. That is not an educated vote, and I’ve witnessed far too many that have done no research in this election on their candidate. That just followed along like good little sheeple. That’s not what I’m about. Who I am. I’ve always tried to teach my children to stand on their own, to not just follow along. Yet, here I sat for years doing what? Whenever I’ve thought of saying something to someone I’ve had to look at the fingers pointed right back at me. For all the times I’ve voted for party without researching the issues, the candidates, their voting records, etc…which I have done in the past, especially when my children were younger. I’ll admit it. But, no more, nor will I ever.

        Thanks Katmoon.

I’m “over” Political Parties. A lot of us Conservatives are (I’m not identifying with the Social Cons but the ones who believe this Federal Govt is out of control), are “done” with the Republican Party. The mask is off… these politicians get elected , go to Washington, and just lose their mind.

When you realize the true debt the Govt is in (over 50 Trillian Dollars), there comes the realization… the Govt of the United States is Bankrupt.

It is.. today. And they’re still adding huge things to it.. like Prescription Drugs.. and now bailing out everyone for everything and not only in this country… around the world.

No Party is innocent.. both are guilty. They both take turns at the trough. If the Dems controlled Congress the past 10 years, nothing would be different.

I have no idea what McCain’s plans are in this area. I was not going to vote for him at all until the Marxist Obama showed up. Though I live in Chicago.. so my vote is perputually useless :)

        The next President is facing
        - Potential Financial Collapse of the US or World banking system
        - Resurgent Islam (by resurgent, I mean in the Long-Term.. we’re living in Islam’s 3rd Historical Global Jihad)
        - A paranoid, belligerent, aggressive Russia
        - Nuclear Iran
        - Nuclear North Korea
        - Hezbellah spreading throughout Central and South America
        - An Islamist Turkey
        - An Unpredictable yet impotent Europe
        - Possible WMD attack in US Homeland
        - Oil boycott by Muslim producers

and that is just off the top of my head.

Unfortunately.. our country is the only one capable of counter-acting all these things!

And even more unfortunately, and I will blame the Nancy Pelosi-type Dems for this… we have an infantile totally unserious public debate on all of these things.

It seems everyone wants to assign blame and point fingers for whom they think here in the US is responsible for all this. Some blame Bush, some Clinton.

I am not so quick to lay blame… I really don’t care… what matters is that these things need to be addressed. It doesn’t matter if the Iraq War was a mistake.. what is more important… settling a score with Bush or facing reality and trying to come up with a handle to predict the future trends and come up wiht something.

I am very negative about the world situation.

I’m not a blame-USA type of person…. all of these other forces in the world are working to pursue their goals… It’s not our fault that Iran’s religious leaders think it’s their role to cause global war to bring about the appearance of the Hidden 12th Imam al Mahdi

It’s not our fault that NK is run by a maniac and that he wanted nukes.

We need to be mature and understand .. we are not the center of the universe… the entire world does not act based solely on the mistakes of the US.

However, WW-II should have taught us… when the maniacs make their first appearance on the world stage, the world powers of the time have an obligation to face reality and fight if neccessary, or else the maniac gets stronger and the inevitable war is 100000x worse.
        Anyway i’m rambling.

I see all of this and then I see Obama being nominated.. and I think to myself.. “How dare the idiots responsble for his being selected do this during this time in history”

        • Katmoon

Yes, there is a list beyond what I can imagine for the next president to cope with, and I don’t think it will be accomplished in 4 years. I’m, not pessimistic, but I think more realistic in what can and what will be done in that time.

          As you said VinceP1974

I have no doubt Obama is a smart person, however his area of “smart”, isn’t what our country needs right now. I realize the President/VP along with their administration is who will be the team to tackle the problems, but there must be support through the senate and congress, or nothing will get done. We cannot have anymore of this division of putting parties before what is good for the country as a whole or our country will continue to decline even further.
I have watched Senator McCain for years, having witnessed his times to reach across the aisle, as did Senator Clinton and Senator Biden.
Gov. Palin brings another perspective to the table that hasn’t been jaded, and can help bring an optimism much needed for problem solving as we make an effort to move forward.
I can’t look back any longer, I know many factions brought us to where we are today, I’ll take my responsibility as a voter, because we are responsible as well, in our own way. IF we elect people who refuse to listen who refuse to represent the very people who put them in office, then it is our responsibility to remove them from that job. We are the employers in this situation, it is no less our country and our duty to care for our country no matter how small someone may try to make us feel. It is far better to move together for the sake of our country than to continue arguments from the past which only result in stalemates. We all love our country. I know I can learn more, I can be open to having an understanding of different opinions and can be supportive of all who put country first.

              No problem.

What this country has to do is unify around its leader.

Though first that leader has to get in touch with the leaders of both parties in Congress and they need to spend liek a month at a retreat or something… and they all have to agree with what our foreign policy is going to be.

Our enemies are not constrained by democratic government systems. They are very shrewd and ruthless players… they have to be to have gotten where they are in their countries.

There’s this notion that America appears weak in the world. And the partisans say that it’s Bush’s imcompetence. And I agree to some degree. Though I think our State Dept is run by a bunch of entrenched idealist John Lennon types which doesn’t help.

But I see the root of this perception is because our enemies know that the political environment in this country is so insane that we’re undermining our own leaders. Bush’s foreign policy collapsed in the wake of the Iraq War.. not because of the war.. but because we lost our unity.

If the Dems in Congress were truly against the Iraq War, then they should have used their influence and boldly opposed it , BEFORE THE VOTE. But they voted for it. Then once the die is cast we, as a country have to live with it.

Iran doesn’t care that elections were coming up… Iran doesn’t care about domestic US politics.. or people’s strong anti-war convictions…. Iran only wants to know one thing… does the US have the will to engage in a sustain and brutal war.

Iran says “No”.. so does “Al Qaeda”… and all this division in this country have proved them correct.

Bush should have met with all the political leadership in this country and incorporated all thier ideas/concerns/red-lines into a unified policy.

The Nancy Pelosis and John Kerrys and Harry Reid should understand we dont go around saying the war your country is fighting in is immoral after you voted to authorize it.

I feel like I’m reading a satire sometimes with our retarded the people in Washington are… do they think their words have no effect beyond our borders?

Does Harry Reid think Iraqi Insurrgents , who should be preparing for their destruction, will not instead plan to wait us out, when he goes around declaring we lost the war (at the time)?

Does Bush think he could keep us in these wars and do absolutely nothing to explain to the people and Congress why its taking so long.

All of it makes me sick.. and it projects to our enemies that our society is sick in a way. We are the strongest country on earth but seemingly led by people with the weakest minds.

        • beverly leslie

Yes, Vince I agree. After this Primary season I have expanded my reading (ron paul, ahmadinijad, rise and fall of the third reich) just to name a few and my understanding of world history and our part in it has drastically changed.

I am sick of the blame. People on the left do it and so do people on the right. Funny how Oblowma talks about unity, yet his brownshirts are out trashing the right as usual. I now see the bias on “liberal” news channels, I used to listen to air america democracy now and thought cnn was right wing. Imagine the shift my mind made to see the media in a more balanced light. I now consider myself a moderate and I will be voting for Mccain Palin to keep our country out of the hands of Barky.

          • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 VinceP1974

Beverly: How much reading on Islam haev you done.. I see you mentioned Iran’s President.

I started really learning about it in the late 90s… at the time I didn’t quite realize the full extent of Islam’s revival in our modern age… it took 9/11 for me to really shake up my worldview and rexamine every assumption about the world that I had.

Learning about Islam and Islamic history is like entering a demented bizarro world … and a person is never going to understand it until they drop their natural inclination to absolutely refuse to believe that people can actually believe in it… once it sinks in that Islam really is that depraved you can never view our world or future the same way again… When you know what it is that all the Islamic groups are working towards, in their individual and seemingly contradictionary ways.

Note that I draw a clear distinction between Muslims (human beings) and Islam (the ideology codified in Quran/Hadith/Sira).

            Muslims aren’t evil.

But I believe Sharia-imposing, Jihad-approving Islam is, and those Muslims who support that pure strain of Islam… and those Non-Muslims who help their cause.

Can you imagine if ob spoke to him instead of Timmy?

It would have been a slam dunk and ob would have been outted as the stumbling fool we all know he truly is.

      • knotfourhymn

If somebody, say a PUMA mole in the Obama campaign, could have said to The One, “Senator, you’ll be a *hit* on O’Reilly! His secret weakness is charm, and with your presence and smile you’ll shut him down. It’ll be a *slam dunk* for you!”

Who knows–he might have fallen for it; he would have gone on FOX, and O’Reilly would have torn him down to the floor joists; the money and support would have dried up, so his campaign would have folded in early June; and millions of people would have been happier about the outcome of the Democratic convention this week.

    • VRWC – What O did to GF Dept.

Beyond and aside from partisan politics, I’ve been p-o’d since it happened at what Obama did to Geraldine Ferraro.

This is the thing: Obama is writing his Great Race Speech (or Race-Baiting Speech, as somebody on these threads points out), a speech meant to resound through the ages like the Gettysburg Address, taught in schools and colleges across the land. And what does Obama do in his Immortal Speech? Equates Geraldine Ferraro with Jeremiah Wright – for all history. (Fortunately in this case Obama’s reach somewhat exceeded his grasp.) Ferraro surely sees all this clearly and is the one with the right to be p-o’d. It’s one thing to be thrown under the bus, it’s another thing to be thrown under the bus wheels – and for Obama’s passing political convenience in the Immortal Speech. If Obama does that to Ferraro, then what are his limits? Not only do identity politics come as a game to him, but also he displays something of a purge-conducting mentality.

On another note, Zep before the Who.

I really like that Palin was a fearless opponent of corruption.. including by those of her own affiliation.

That’s real ethics reform. Obama acts like he’s a martyr for his elusive bi-partisan ethics reform bill in Congress (like Congress really votes for things that disadvantage themselves).

I always laugh when he mentions that as some brave bold action no one has ever seen before. Wow.. Ethics reform bill. Yeah, that really was a divisive issue, Barry ..wasn’t it?

WHAT DID OBAMA GET FOR THE $3.5 MILLION TO SEIU?

SEIU is one of the most progressive unions and an early and key backer of Obama. Obama has paid SEIU over a quarter of a million dollars in “canvasing expenses” and they have dumped big bucks in support of Obama but through independent campaigning for Obama–as in over 3.3 million (through 6/31/08). I guess that would be closer to $4 mil now… Cathy has been going through Obama’s FEC filings and picked up those ginormous payments on Obama’s expense reports.

What exactly did Obama buy for 3.5 million dollars? An endorsement? Voter registrations?

Change? Smells like the same old, same old, corrupt political hack machine. And the unions? Shame on them. YOUR UNION DUE PAYMENTS AT WORK!

Sarah Palin is the ONLY person to have ever publically thanked Ferraro for her historic breakthrough of the glass ceiling. Palin also thanked Hillary for putting those other 18 million cracks in the ceiling.

But the sexism rolls on. Ask CNN’s John Roberts, and that guy Belaggo(sp??). Roberts attacks Palin for having a down syndrome child and that by being VP she would somehow not be caring for her child. The other guy claims Palin is only poised because of having been taught that in beauty contests.

Just as Hillary would have brought reform to the WH, so will Palin. Why are the media so afraid of Palin or any other woman holding the highest office in the USA?

    • http://! Clinton Fan

Yes, indeed, while ignoring his Catholic parsing of the choice matter, too!

Kaine was too “young” in that he was too beefy, and maybe too manly. A sharp makeover artist could probably clean that guy up good, and maybe even make him look halfway appealing. Obama couldn’t risk that! Plus, he needed to fill that gaping hole in his resume.

Funny the Democrats are now worried about “experience”. They weren’t too concerned when they drove the most experienced, compassionate, intelligent candidate out of the race in favor of someone with the thinnest resume in the history of modern politics.
When I watch Sarah Palin be sworn in as VP in January, I will see Hillary looking over one shoulder, Geraldine over the other. I will see bittersweet smiles on their faces, but twinkles in their eyes, as they will know their place in history is assured, and that Sarah Palin is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the future of women in politics. Because of Geraldine Ferraro, because of Hillary Clinton, because it’s time…

HAS THE PROFESSON OF JOURNALISM FAILED HUMANITY AGAIN??

Did We Just Witness Rev. Wright taken to Hitleresque Levels?

Obama referenced his Mother’s death when talking about American Health Care in “The Speech” and how her death was the fault of the American Health and Insurance Industry.

I have heard and read facts that conflict with Obama’s version of his mother’s death.

She was a citizen of Indonesia, got sick there and never went to Doctors or Hospitals in the United States.

She finally went to Doctors in the Philippines which has been an independent Country since July 4, 1946.

She was a citizen of Indonesia and the Doctors there missed the diagnosis and she waited to long to go to the Philippines???

She died in a Philippine Hospital in 1994.

I have also read that Obama never once went to her sick bed the whole time before she died.

Obama invented fantacies as an angery young man, to deal with the rejection he received from both his Mother and his Father and now can’t tell the difference.

He transfers blame to “White America” ie. “Corporate America” for the faults of his dysfunctional family.

The Media, by enabling Obama, by not confronting him on these false hoods are hurting him, White America and the electoral process.

Hitler had childhood rejection issues and transfered blame to the Jews.

Hitler gave extravagant speeches and transfered blame to the Jews for the ills of the German Nation.

The German People and the Media were only to happy to let him do it.

Where are we headed with these lies and these grand Hate White Corporate America rallies??

Did we just witness Rev. Wright taken to Hitleresque levels Thursday in Denver???

I was waiting for the throng to shout “Seig Heil”!

Is the Media enabling and participating in this transfer of Hate and guilt by not confronting Obama about his fantasies and how they conflict with the facts?

The last time a “Maessiah” was allowed to play God with the Facts The whole world was almost destroyed.

Has the profession of Journalism lost it’s way and failed humanity again??

I want to see our country get back on it’s feet, and this cannot be accomplished by lofty lies, alienation of members of your own party by means of racist/sexist insults, division of the classes by a means of identifying them as something “less than”, because of where they live or their beliefs. The dems did not start out with a big tent this election season, and this is the price they pay, they lose votes. We are often accused for voting against our self interests. It will never be in my interest to vote for a party, that doesn’t want my vote, castigates voters who support a candidate of the same party, and divides the party beyond repair, with not a whisper of any of the platform that once defined the party. And some of us don’t care too much about one issue abortion. Some of us are done with kids and there are more important issues we are interested in. But John roberts finds a problem with Sarah Palin because she chose to accept the VP position even though she just had a kid with special needs.

Also, as Sarah Palin has pointed out, her husband has a very active role in sharing child raising and house duties. Does anyone recall Obama saying he regrets ignoring his daughters while he was running for office?

Geraldine Ferraro was so right on so many levels when she said Obama was lucky to be black in this election year. (BTW, George McGovern said the same thing, but for some reason, Obama decided not to race-bait him.) Here are but a few examples of the mountain of breathtaking double standards both w.r.t. race and gender that adversely affected Hillary and benefitted Obama, where it was okay for blacks to trash whites and men to trash women, but the opposite respective cases were oddly strickly verbodden:

    1. Bro’s Before Ho’s T-Shirts: It’s astounding that this type of gender-baiting garbage was never addressed by either Obama, the GOP, and the corporate media as they all ganged up and attacked Hillary. Can you imagine a T-shirt that said “Whites Before Blacks”?

Here’s comedian Chris Rock urging blacks not to vote for the white candidate:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8JSU9IxZU8
—Chris Rock on not voting for whites. Note what Mika Brezinski and that other MSNBC say about it, or rather don’t say about such blatant reverse racism. Imagine what the response would be if a white comedian, like Larry The Cable Guy, said this?

    2. On at least two occasions on Leno, there were mock debates between Hillary and Obama, played respectively by a white actress and a black actor. Both times, the black actor playing Obama repeatedly called Hillary “bitch, bitch, bitch!” and so on. Now imagine what would have happened to Leno if the white actress playing Hillary called Obama “nigger, nigger, nigger!” Imagine what Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & the NAACP would have done?!? Remember what happened to Don Imus? Pro-golfer Fuzzy Zoellor? The white woman who said “lynch Tiger Woods”? Biden for saying Obama is “clean”? (BTW, Biden’s comment was without question racist!) Michael Richards of Seinfeld? All of these racist assholes deserved to be tarred and feathered–and fired! Where is the outrage within the corporate media, the GOP, and camp Obama?!? Imagine if this mock debate was between Laura Bush or Barbara Bush or Sarah Palin or any GOP woman instead of a democrat?!?

It gets worse… The entire white audience attending both Leno episodes were laughing their asses off, whoopin’ n hollerin’ each time the Obama character repeatedly called Hillary a “bitch”! That’s right, it apparently—to borrow a phrase from the great George W. Bush *sarcasm*, a clear case of “the bigotry of low expectations”, where blacks, supposedly an oppressed people, can say whatever they want, but whites are held to a higher standard. This is exactly what Obama was pushing for and championing when he defended that vicious race-baiting douchebag Jeremiah Wright. And of course, we all know that six weeks later, O’Bullshit then condemned Wright as a divisive race-baiter, saying Wright “exploits the divisions of the past” simply because Wright began to expose him for the craven con man that he is.

Perhaps African American Ivy league prof. Adolph Reed said it best back in May of this year concerning Obama’s so-called great race speech, or rather his great race-bait speech:

For now, the Jeremiah Wright connection probably won’t hurt him too much, partly because the Republicans at this point mainly may want to keep him and Clinton bleeding each other as long as possible. And his Philadelphia compromise speech—a string of well-crafted and coordinated platitudes and hollow images worthy of an SUV commercial, grounded with the reassuring “acknowledgment” of blacks’ behavioral inadequacies—has gained him breathing room by holding out a vague promise of racial “reconciliation” that has appealed to centrist liberals ever since Booker T. Washington’s comparably eloquent 1895 accommodation to Southern white supremacy.

    Source: http://www.progressive.org/mag_reed0508

BTW, here’s O’Bullshit rightfully and immediately condemning the racist Don Imus with total moral clarity:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioYrNYsNUfY
—Obama condemning Imus on MSNBC. Amazing how Chris “shivers up my leg” Matthews, Keith “get a shovel” Olbermann, Rachel “Obama, the young stud” / ”Bros before Ho’s” Maddow, et al all failed to cite their own MSNBC clip. Go figure.

More of this “bigotry of low expectations” came from Michael Moore, a guy I normally have the utmost respect for. Now I know, Moore is one of those rich liberals who send their kids to private schools and wants to be black in as Adolph Reed puts it black in that ultra safe theme park kind of way: “A friend said that Obama’s campaign, in stressing his appeal to rapturous children and liberal, glamorous yuppies, offers vicarious identification with these groups, as well as the chance to become sort of black in that ultra-safe and familiar theme park way.

We can have only one standard and one standard only. Otherwise it is a very pernicious and indeed disgusting and destructive type of Affirmative Action.

    3. Yes, blacks are still an oppressed people. As a liberal well versed with the mountain of socio-economic, social and criminal justice data out there, I don’t just believe this to be true–I KNOW it to be true.
However, African Americans do NOT have a monopoly on victimization.

    a. 1/3 of all women in the US will be sexually assaulted in their life times. Mind you, this doesn’t even include domestic violence. One would literally have to go back to the days of slavery for blacks to claim they face more violence at the hands of whites than women at the hands of men. Even during the entire 100 year long Jim Crow era, only about 2000 blacks were lynched by whites. That’s NOTHING. I’m not sure what the specific figures are per year, but a good guess is that about that many women are killed by men every year. Most women are killed by their own husbands, boyfriends who’ve turned into sadistic bastards, stalkers, and whatnot.

Native American’s definitely had it worse than blacks for decades after the civil war, after emancipation when they repeatedly faced genocidal policies as well as outright genocide. Even now, Native Americans are most likely to be victims of violent crime, with 60% of such victims are victimized by whites.

It’s truly astonish how Keith Olbershit and Chris Mattshit keep playing up the race card lately. How they constantly urge white Armericans to give Obama a chance and over look the fact that he black.

Fuck that. Obama is the biggest race-baiting douche bag I’ve ever seen. Certainly the biggest race-baiting, gender-baiting asshole of the modern political era. His character assassination rivals that of Bush and Rove. Nearly all of his dirty and viscious tactics are carried out by his surrogates of course.

    b. Women make 77 cents on the dollar that men make for doing the same damn work, even though women achieve higher grades in both high school and college! I seriously doubt that African Americans make that much less than whites for doing the same work. The wage disparity between blacks and whites is really due to level of education (a different form of racism) and certainly not due to direct racism, i.e. MD’s, MBA’s and computer scientists simply make more than janitors and burger flippers.

    C. Black men got to vote before white women, like 50 years before. Granted there was plenty of voter intimidation, lynchings, bogus literacy tests, bogus poll taxes and so on in the deep South, but the fact remains: Black men got to vote 50 years before women—including supposedly privileged white women.

    D. Women are 50% of the population. African Americans comprise 12.5%. The number of African American presidents in US history? ZERO. The number of women presidents in US history? ZERO. If affirmative action (i.e. grotesque double standards w.r.t. race and gender during the primaries) should be the guiding rule, then women should have the nomination hands down, since they outnumber blacks by 4 to 1. BTW, did I mention that Obama, the much vaunted Harvard Student Law Journal editor essentially did the work of a 1st or 2nd year junior lawyer for ALL eight years during which he worked as a “civil rights attourney”, i.e. bureaucratic paper work, while Hillary was voted one of the top 50 lawyers who argued numerous cases on behalf of women and children’s rights?!? Did I mention that Obama never published an article as the editor of the Harvard Student Law Journal, even though it was customary?

    • http://www.progressive.org/mag_reed0508 Beowulf

Obama, the “civil rights attourney”, never even argued a single case. This tells you about his work ethic and how much his colleagues trusted him back at his famous civll rights law firm.

      • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 VinceP1974

Well according to Me-shell , Obama *could have* gone to Wall Street. (Do lawyers go to Wall Street? I really don’t know)

But instead he went to Chicago to live in a Refrigerator Box and catch rainbows in the Spring.

      • Mr. Natural

The only civil rights they argued were the rights of professionally organized leeches to milk tax dollars from city, state, and federal teats.

        I’m not kidding.

That is exactly what they did.

    • Katmoon

The dumbing down of the electorate. I am generalizing, but it does seem to be an american idol mentality, and it isn’t new, it’s been creeping in for about 10-12 years. The entitlement attitude(try telling a kid they can’t have a cell phone, oh the adventure of it all-then taking a bashing from other parents.)It seems to be we must have surgical work done, that 60 is the new 40, and the look-ism factor is beyond anything I thought I would ever see. It is a dictate via marketing, etc, that many of us, have taken a bite of(I admit I have on a few things), it is my responsibility to at least prevent anymore of that from entering my personal castle and family.
Beyond the “me” in this, if only people could see a personal responsibility similar to environmental responsibility. IF you mess something up, if you lie(it really isn’t ok to do so, no matter how acceptable this has become) it will be left for another to have to take care of. The country I grew up in we couldn’t wait to leave home and find our independence, to work, for our dreams fueled by our own pocketbooks. Can you imagine telling your friends you lived with Mom & Dad and the age of twenty? Not only do our children need a decent education, they also need some common sense, and a good dose of reality, to serve them better as they do go out into the world. Having someone in the candidate spotlight who endorses this entitlement mentality, doesn’t serve any generation present, past or future.

I just finished reading a book about the wreck that was the election of 1800 called “Magnificant Catestrophe”

I am comforted in knowing that apparently, the opposing sides back then hated each other way worse than I think even the two sides do today

I was not comforted in knowing that their mutual hatred and distrust was motivated by honest conviction that Liberty was the main thing to be protected.

It’s not like that any more.

There is no talk of Liberty anymore.. only of “Rights”, or as I see them, entitlements.

            It’s so sad.

Have you any folks seen the HBO Miniseries “John Adams”… I cried like a baby watching it. Everything those brave people fought for and sacrificed for has been swept aside.. we’re coasting on the inertia of it.. but the brakes are on, and squeezing tighter.

WELL SAID, great post. I’ve been naively waiting for MSM to address the fact that women have suffered abuse and discrimination throughout history.

Blacks don’t have a monopoly on discrimination.

  • Linda C.

Ms. Ferraro was only describing the sentiment out there amongst Hillary Clinton supporters..so don’t shoot the messenger.

If anyone who any sense of politics and culture, Obama has made several bad moves. Removing any race and gender considerations, the 1960 democratic primary was contentious between LBJ and JFK. The best way to unite the party was to have JFK “suck it up” and have LBJ as VP. That effectively united the party. Fast forward to the RNC 1980 primary. There was a contentious primary between Reagan and Bush. Reagan “sucked it up” and put Bush on the ticket, effectively uniting the party. The DNC ads trying to keep the divide going..regarding Bush’s comments on Reagan’s voodoo economics failed because Reagan Bush team united the republicans.

Looking at history we can see what happens when divided parties fail to unite. The DNC, 1968 convention that led to an independent run of George Wallace. The dems lost. The 1912 RNC convention, complete with delegate stealing and rules manipulation led to the Bull Moose party and the defeat of the RNC giving the election to Woodrow Wilson. The RNC ads regarding Hillary Clinton’s comments of Obama might work because the party did not unite with a Obama/Clinton ticket. Now add the passions of gender and race to this year’s primaries and we end up with a potential volatile situation that Obama failed to consider by calling for a united ticket. In other words, Obama failed “to suck it up” for the true unity of the party and was short sighted in the long term implications.

Women never expected the degree of sexism and misogyny from the media and from the party in this year’s primary. The DNC’s failure to act hurt many long time women dems. Women never expected the RNC to be in their corner, so the expectations from the DNC were higher. When the DNC failed to deliver and Obama indeed used sexism to dismiss Clinton’s accomplishments (Having Tea with Bhutto)..This was an act of Betrayal..that will not be easily dismissed. In other words, one expects more from one’s friends than one’s enemies. Many woman are tired of having a supreme court decision over 30 years ago as the only accomplishment that the dems hold over their heads. There is nothing more aggravating than to have one’s uterus held hostage while the ERA is no longer on the platform and we still do not have equal pay legislation, child care reform, health care reform and so on.

Enter McCain’s choice of Palin as his VP pick. This will be interesting on many levels. Palin is noted for fighting corruption within her own party in Alaska. She is not a product of unsavory alliances and seems to have the judgement to stay away from them as possible. She is a social conservative which appeals to the RNC base. She does executive experience more so than Obama. When the sexists and misogynist media, and indeed those within the DNC party, start again it will become apparent; The excuse that the sexists attacks against Hillary because she was Hillary Clinton and not because she was a woman will fail to hold water. The RNC and McCain, who never did a damn thing for woman, will not tolerate these attacks and “effectively stand up against sexism”. It is a sad irony indeed.

I’ll bet the old-boy network in D.C. is scared shitless that Palin is going to take a chainsaw to the fraud, waste, and abuse they have allowed to flourish over the years. I for one will be cheering her on.

Quite frankly I am surprised at how stupid the media thinks voters are. The 100 years in Iraq, the 8 houses, the Robert Kennedy shot in June and a couple Ofraud statements I can’t think of right now, but know there were. Anyone watching or listening knows they attacks were taken out of context. I am looking whole picture, it takes alot more than one mis statement to swing my vote. With Oliar, his 57 states comment I tried to excuse because I thought he looked exhausted that day. The proble with it is that since then he has again said 56 states on his letter to the credentials committee and said 48 states at the veterans rally recently. If it was simply a mis-statement, you would think he would be very careful to not do it again. No he simply has no idea how many states there are. It is also more about actions than words for voters. We know just because you say you will do something means nothing, it is in the facts of what you have or haven’t done. I know most voters are informed better than to buy up a bowl of hype. I relaly liked Bill’s x y comparison the other day and I hope Obama is exposed as the fraud he is and it scares the heck out of people who supported that and thta voters become so informed after this that no one can be fooled again ever! In that regard, I will be glad Obama came along, but only for the shake up American voters need!

  • VMorris

Unlike the spineless Democrats, the Republicans are not going to sit in silence while the media and the Democrats trash her and bash her.

Keep the attacks coming, Democrats. Just think of how you look. Attacking a mother of 5, one child has Down’s syndrome. Roe vs. Wade is NOT the only issue in this campaign. It takes courage to face challenges like this.

Palin might not get the disenfranchised Hillary voters, but she is the spart the Republicans needed to motivate their base and the Democrats put their eggs in a basket that this time, the Republican base was not gearing up.

That is going to change. Perfect timing to get the base motivated just in time for the Republican convention.

    1. Obama = Dan Quayle. In spite of the comparisons, Obama is no John Kennedy. He is no MLK. He is no William Jefferson Clinton. He is no Hillary Clinton.

    2. Supposedly “inexperienced” Palin will be only a heartbeat away from the president?

How about the remarkably inexperienced Obama WILL BE the President.

Good lord. The Democrats are dumb. They still don’t know how to fight. They either bring a knife to a gunfight or a Bazooka to a poker game.

People are not going to go against McCain because the Dems claim he is using is POW story too much.

To have Jimmy Carter go after McCain falls into the greatest stupid moves of all time. The Dems are trying to do to McCain what the Repubs did to Kerry and they just don’t get it.

It’s not that you fight, it is HOW you fight that matters. I know exactly what the Dems need to do to swift boat McCain, but I am not going to help them figure it out. They need to go back and look at the swift boat ads and study very carefully the ENTIRE process and mimic it as much as they can. However, I don’t think the Dems are smart enough to figure out the differences between their attacks on McCain’s stint as a POW and the Swiftboaters of 2004.

Democrats; keep attacking Palin, then brace yourselves for the Republican reaction. They will not roll over and play dead while Sarah is devoured by the press the way YOU rolled over when it came to Hillary.

After the Republicans turn out to be the party to actually defend a woman’s right to run for a high office and to call bullshit on the sexism, they will prove their support of women is more than JUST WORDS.

I think it’s time for Geraldine Ferraro to move on She really is not helpng the democratic party. But maybe she is no longer a democrat because she would be supporting the current democratic candidate. I think her own ego is what is driving her hatred toward Obama. Obama, a black man, won and Clinton, a woman, did not this time. So does that mean we abandon our party to support a party that is totally out of touch with democratic values? I am smelling some cover ups with Palin as too much news is coming out about her ethics and personal family matters that will distract her in this campaign. She was an unfortunate selection as I don’t think that McCain really prepared her for the media attacks which is more than inevitable in today’s world. She should be transparent and not let the public start wondering what else is she hiding. Yes, families are private but we don’t even know her yet. And that is what we are trying to do–learn more about her to find out what really compelled McCain to select her as there were other females who were more qualified such as Kay Bailey Hutchison. Why is no one speaking up for her?
