Are those Democrats Christo-fascists as well? That means for most it's a choice they wouldn't personally make but they don't believe in forcing their views on others. Remember GWB had the House, Senate, and Supreme Court (SC) for most of his time in office. There were challenges to Roe v Wade that made it to the SC. Yet Scalia and company didn't overturn Roe.
