So, What’s Next?

One astute commentator at No Quarter last night mentioned how incredibly upsetting it is that Jesse Jackson got all 485 of his delegates on the Roll Call, and Hillary Clinton got only 20% of her almost 2,000 delegates.

Upsetting, frustrating, insulting, maddening, disturbing, and demeaning are other words that come to mind. Frankly, if Obama has such a thin skin that he cannot acknowledge that Clinton had almost as many delegates as he did (and would have had MORE had the RBC not acted immorally), then how in the HELL is he going to stand up to the people he claims he wants to serve? He has no business running as the nominee. None.

To say he is a lightweight is a gross understatement. And he CANNOT EVEN WRITE HIS OWN SPEECHES!!! Pathetic!! Absolutely pathetic! I reckon he doesn’t know that his speechwriters cannot accompany him in the debates, which is probably EXACTLY why he won’t meet McCain in Town Hall forums.

Now, not only is Obama going to have to deal with McCain, he is going to be outshone by McCain’s running mate who can talk pretty darn well for herself. Without a speechwriter, I might add. Right off the top of her head. Just sayin’. Oh, and for whatever issues I might have with Palin, she DID veto a ban on same-sex benefits as unconstitutional in her first month in office. That counts for something. Yes, there are other issues, but I gotta say – she’s a compelling figure.

But, believe it or not, this isn’t about Palin. It isn’t even about Obama specifically, but peripherally. It is about Senator Clinton. Now that the Fixvention is over, what lies ahead for her? There was an interesting commentary in my local paper recently by Dale McFeatter who addressed this very issue. There are some things I think he could have phrased differently, and one word with which I disagree completely with the writer (oh, don’t you worry – I’ll point it out in bold), but it is interesting, I think. Here’s the article:
Hillary Weighs Her Future
An Editorial/Dale McFeatters (Submitted by SHNS on Wed, 08/27/2008 – 15:30. Scripps Howard News Service editorials and opinion.)

Psychologically, Hillary Clinton faces a demanding fall. If she wants a political future beyond the Senate, the former first lady must not be seen as going less than all out to elect Barack Obama, even though relations between the two camps can charitably described as strained.

Clinton’s very gracious and warm speech at the Denver convention, touching all the right notes, including a tactful nod to her husband’s presidency, showed that she is fully capable of that role and even of sharing attack dog duties with Obama running mate Sen. Joe Biden. But in her heart there has to be some ambivalence. You know that when she was on the podium with her tearful supporters cheering her name that at same level she was thinking, “This should have been ours,”

If Obama loses — and the polls indicate that for all the Republicans’ woes and the baggage of President Bush, he is not a sure thing come November — she would have the satisfaction of saying, certainly in private, “I told you so,” and the way would be clear for another run for the White House in 2012. Since her health-care debacle, she has proved capable of learning from her mistakes, and a second campaign for the presidency would be freer of the mismanagement and infighting that hobbled her first.

Even though she finished a close but indubitable second for her party’s nomination, she is perhaps our most remarkable politician and, even though Obama’s people might wish otherwise, Bill and Hillary Clinton will remain formidable fixtures in the Democratic Party. Their approval ratings with the Democratic faithful hover around 80 percent. She came achingly close to being the first woman to be the presidential nominee and retains a dedicated base of support and impressive appeal to blue collar voters.

Recall that she survived scandals — Filegate, Travelgate, her husband’s sexual dalliances — that would have sunk a lesser mortal and then went on to win a Senate seat in a state, New York, notorious for its convoluted politics, where she had never lived and had no real connection. Her effortless re-election was a sign that she can have the Senate job as long as she wants. If Obama wins and her hopes of another presidential run are perhaps eight years off, the question is: Will she want to?

If Clinton wants to stay in public life, there aren’t many options. Her husband has pre-empted one field with his Clinton Foundation. No nonprofit post could match the power and high profile of her Senate seat. Some have suggested that Obama appoint her to the Supreme Court, a job for which she isn’t really qualified and one that the Republicans would certainly block. Some have suggested that she might run for New York governor but it’s hard to imagine her trading Washington, her home for 16 years, for the administrative grind of Albany.

Or she could return to the Senate and take up the torch that Sen. Ted Kennedy is passing as that body’s great liberal lion — in her case, lioness. She has said she looks forward to passing universal health care and having Obama sign it. And the fact is that Obama, who was less collegial with his fellow senators than she, will need her advocacy in Congress.

A chapter in a gripping American political biography closed in Denver this week but it is far from the final chapter.

(Distributed by Scripps Howard News Service)

All in all, not a bad piece. Did you notice how the writer said Obama will need her help in the Senate since she had more collegial relationships. Wow, really? That isn’t what Obama and his minions claimed all the time. But those of us who actually PAID ATTENTION to her record knew better, didn’t we? And is she the nominee? No. Not that she ever thought she was the presumptive nominee from the beginning – that was another MSM line to demean her. But she DID have the votes, and she DID have the delegates. Until the DNC stole them, that is. So, she lost the nomination, and we lost the opportunity to have someone we KNOW would be one of the greatest presidents ever.

Well, not this time, apparently. But hopefully, in four more years. In the meantime, Hillary Clinton will continue to do what she has BEEN doing – the people’s work. And she will continue to do it with the same passion, brilliance, humor, and dedication she has exhibited her entire working life. We will be there for her, too, because we KNOW she is the real deal.

If you are so inclined, please consider helping Senator Clinton retire her debt. GeekLove, she of the most awesome videos, has a link she has set up for that purpose: http://www.actblue.com/page/retireherdebt

I really wish the Clintons would step up to the plate and call out the disgusting upheaval of the Democratic Party but the Obamaasswipes and hillary haters on both side would do their best to crucify them again and again. At any rate what I have learned is BOTH parties are very corrupted and do very little for the people- Ever notice how wealthy congress critters become after a couple of years in DC? Its just another CORPORATION.

But since there is very little choice regarding party politics I’ll vote for the better pair and this time it will be McCain/Palin.

None of the DEMS have been able to sell Obama to me and I have become a very frugal and conscientious consumer. I’ve been known to BOYCOTT the popular choices like Walmart and phony Dems. :-)

Did you guys watch Meet the Press this morning? Of all the panelists, only Maria Bartiromo was impressed with Sarah Palin. Andrea Mitchell made the comment that when Sarah Palin mentioned Hillary Clinton’s name at a rally, she was booed. Palin’s extremist views on abortion won’t attract any Hillary supporters. Virtually all the panelists on NBC’s Meet the Press thought this was a big gamble by McCain. McCain must be desperate.

Well come November 4th, the American people will speak. I don’t think it will be for Mr. Soetoro-Obama or Joe Biden. Clinton 2012.

Look I’m done with Obama and the Dem’s for the White House that’s over now at least for me. Me I’m going to work to elect the true fresh face, change agent, Washington outsider, and non rabid partisan Palin. And my other two goals are two help destroy the two Party systems strangle hold on the talent we are forced to choose from, and fight against the acceptance by many of the denigration of women over 35 strong women, orchestrated by Obama as objects of scorn targets of intimidation violence by weak men, which is showing up now in our daily lives.

Holey moley, it turns out Bill and Hillary don’t write their own speeches either!

This jab, Amy, betrays a pretty limited understanding of the speechwriting process; Obama, like the Clintons, directs the message; the turns of phrase are largely shaped by others. I guarantee you that “building a bridge to the 21st century” was not Bill’s formulation, for instance.

At 56 it’s not a concern anymore. If you were so concerned you would have voted for Hillary. Obama does not care about women and you have no vote about abortion- it’s a phony wedge issue and you know it.

The extended ramifications of what the DNC did to all of us really hit me this AM. They had a chance and they pissed it away.
Why didn’t they vet Obama? It doesn’t make any sense to not vet him and cushion the fall a bit. The GOP is under no obligation to do the same.
They coughed up a 72 year old man to run against. It was obvious they want(ed) a Dem in the WH so as to blame all of the current woes on the Dems. It was in the bag. Then, they HAD to go with Obama. The hidden man.
Did you even once hear from a college friend of Obama’s during the primary? I heard about and from Hillary’s all of the time. Mostly good things.
Along with the certificate of live birth with the raised state seal – I would like to see Obama’s Magna Cum Laude grad certificate from Harvard. Cuz, honestly, the man cannot put a sentence together. I just don’t see how he graduated at the top of his law school class.

And, what do you know? It’s a poll-tested Mark Penn creation.

Penn and Schoen set about testing variations on the bridge theme. When they tested four versions of the bridge slogan, “Building a Bridge to the 21st Century” appealed to 61%, while “Building a Bridge to the Year 2000″ scored 54%, and the more frank “Building a Bridge to a Second Term” rang up only 39%. “A Bridge to the 21st Century” it would be.

Waddle back to Gaza, FF. BTW, he’s not prez, nor will he be. According Zogby, it’s dead even. Read this.

Pollster John Zogby: “Palin is not to be underestimated. Her real strength is that she is authentic, a real mom, an outdoors person, a small town mayor (hey, she has dealt with a small town city council – that alone could be preparation for staring down Vladimir Putin, right?). She is also a reformer.”

“A very important demographic in this election is going to be the politically independent woman, 15% of whom in our latest survey are undecided.”

“In the final analysis, this election will be about Obama vs. McCain. Obama has staked out ground as the new JFK – a new generation, literally and figuratively, a new face of America to the world, a man who can cross lines and work with both sides. But McCain is the modern day Harry Truman – with lots of DC experience, he knows what is wrong and dysfunctional with Washington and how to fix it, and he has chosen a running mate who is about as far away from Washington as he could find.

“This contest is likely to be very close until the weekend before the election – then the dam may break and support may flood one way or the other.”

  • http://deleted YES HRC

Roe v Wade isn’t going anywhere, so those of you holding that over the heads of women who are crossing over to vote McCain/Palin? Not working. And if by some slim chance it does work? Let the young women who swooned and cried when BO removed his jacket at a rally worry about getting Roe back on the books at some future date.

Honestly, I’m not really concerned about Hillary’s future at the moment. We all know that she will watch, wait, and play her hand. She will return to the Senate as the new Democratic Lion(ness), and very well may end up being majority leader in January, should the Democrats maintain their majority in spite of their woefully low approval rating. I suspect that majority leader was a carrot in getting her to consent to stopping the roll call…which leads me to my point.

Now is not the time to worry about Hillary. We have a much bigger problem; the corruption in the Democratic Party. Every day I was in Denver I was approached by HRC pledged delegates who told me they were being pressured, intimidated, and had no idea what was going to happen in terms of the roll call. The convention was a dog and pony show and all democratic procedures were thrown out.

The American media presented the convention as a unity fest. Nothing could be further from the truth. To help make sure their meme is stopped please consider giving to the Denver Group as their next series of ads will targeted to address the fraudulent roll call.

The Democratic Party as you knew it is dead. What are you going to do about it?

Forget the MSM and Andrea Mitchell. They are all in the tank for Obama and will say and do anything to advance his election. The MSM is saying these things. But real Americans are not buying it. The response to Palin has been very positive as evidenced by the fact that McCain has received $7 millon dollars since making his announcement and introducing Palin to the public.

  • http://www.noquarterusa.net Linda

The whole reverse Roe vs Wade scare they’re trying to pull women in on is bull and the fear tactic is getting stale. The democratic majority has to approve any possible nomination, and they won’t allow a pro-lifer to be appointed. Any judges appointed will be pro-choice. END OF STORY. Even Geraldine Ferraro admitted to that a few days ago.

  • Heather

I used to believe that the Dems somehow ‘forgot’ to vet Obama. Now I realize that those pushing him were in on the coverup all along. They didn’t want to vet him. They knew all this s*** would hit the fan but calculated that the hopey changey achey breaky — and don’t forget the caucus cheating and voting machine hacking — would override. And they might well be right.

What I can’t figure out is why NO ONE is ‘on’ the voting machine thing. Those way liberal groups who used to talk about voting machine fraud all the time are strangely silent these days.

I’ve said repeatedly, okay ad nauseum, that even Republicans admit Republican women don’t want Roe overturned. The majority of the American public doesn’t want it overturned.

If Reagan, Bush I and Bush II couldn’t do it it’s unlikely any other President will.

Also, the Republicans have finally admitted they used it as a wedge issue. Now the Democrats are doing the same.

Instead of telling women why they should vote for Obama they’re trying to frighten them. This is what Obama claimed the Republicans would do.

Once again, if the Obama campaign accuses someone of something it’s exactly what they’re planing to do.

But after traveling to different sites, seeing the anger of these kids, etc. and the fact they don’t know – or even understand – what the DP has fought for the improve their lives, maybe it’s time to protect our freedoms, put COUNTRY FIRST, even if it means taking two or three steps back, and letting them actually fight for what they’ve lost. MAYBE it’ll teach them something – like appreciating what others had fought for and gained, and not throwing it callously way for some empty-suited false messiah with his empty promises.

Roe doesn’t even address the legality of abortion. It’s a case regarding notification and consent. American women are no longer letting the Democratic Party blackmail them so shove it up your ass.

If you sheeple actually gave a crap about reproductive rights you would have backed Clinton, not the misogynist ass Barry Soetoro. Besides, the interfaith convocation that opened the Convention in Denver hosted a Pentacostal Minister who condemned abortion so the party’s commitment to women is soft anyway, as it is to equal protections for LGBTs, and rights to privacy…or were you to busy demonstrating your lack of sense to the blogosphere when Soetoro, Pelosi, and so many other Democrats voted for the FISA bill?

I was in Denver and am here to tell all of you that the Democratic Party is a sick, corrupt, steaming pile of turd. They don’t care whether you live or die, as long as they get your money and your vote.

Meet the Press is on NBC – Network of Barky Clones.

First, it has been inarguably proven, because most of it is on film and videotape, that they are misogynists of the highest (lowest?) order – the “women” included.

Second, their bambi bias is indisputable – documented at Media Matters and elsewhere, again, over and over on film and videotape for all the world to see.

And now, the world knows that at least KO and Tweety WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH BAMBI. Somehow, I think Maher was too kind to MSNBC (owned by NBC) – I think THEY ALL, women and men alike, want to have sex with barky. Ewwwwwww!

Anything and anyone involved with NBC is never to be confused with news or truth or facts. It is (biased) opinion only – that they unsuccessfully try to package as “truth” and “news” – unsuccessfully, I might add – their credibility rating is zero.

BY choosing the venue of a vast outdoor stadium as John Kennedy did for his “new frontier” acceptance, and by speaking on the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” address, Barack Obama — whose claim to fame is an ability to move audiences with his words — deliberately invited comparison with two of the most memorable speeches of our recent history.

That is why Obama is avoiding public meetings with McCain, because , he is unable making speaches, and that is only think He know how to do, JUST LET HIM TALK, BUT TO “TRY” ANSWER QUESTIONS OBAMA MUST MAKA SPEACH, HE CAN NOT JUST ANSWER, THIS IS HIS BIG PROBLEM!!!OBAMA IS AFFRAID OF MACCAIN AND NOW SARAH CAME TO PICTURE!!!IT IS GETTING HOT!!!!

Beware the canard (haha — this is a fish story) that Sarak Palin once committed a felony. Ben Smith has the story:

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0808/Palins_gillnet.html?showall

Here’s from the 2002 Anchorage Daily News:

In 1993 Palin pleaded no contest in Dillingham District Court to a fishing violation — failure to register as a set gillnet permit holder. And the violation was then mistakenly entered into the court computer system as being a felony.

Palin explained the fishing violation by saying that she had been a crew member but took over the permit for that season from her sister-in-law. Palin then forgot to switch her registration from that of a crew member to a permit holder, she said.

Palin called the court in Dillingham and straightened out the mistaken felony designation. The court clerk described it as a “data input error” and faxed Palin a letter of apology, saying the error has been corrected.

But in recent days reporters have anonymously received copies of the court record calling it a felony. “I think it’s pretty cowardly,” Palin said. “Somebody is peddling this five days before the election, obviously to smear my reputation.”

She later compared it to a parking ticket. (There’s another fishing license violation in the system for her, but that charge was dismissed.)

I think she’s the only nominee this cycle to have pled no contest on anything, and likely the first in American history to have a drift gillnet violation on the books.

Yeah, she actually fished for a living. Remember the Obama fan a few days ago who alleged her husband was just a hobby fisherman? Where’d that guy go?

You apparently were still in grade school when Clinton’s second term was ending. If you had been alittle older, you might recall that Clinton, with then Israli Prime Minister Ehud Barack and Yassir Arafat almost worked about a complete Israli/Palestinian peace agreement. Ehud Barack offered everything to Arafat and he balked and walked away. That is when Arial Sharon (a member of the Likud party) lit the match to the start of the second intifada. The failure of the final agreement aside; even today the Palestinians who were in attendance at that meeting were humbled and stunned at Clinton’s sheer billiance and complete understanding of every ethnic, tribal, and neighborhood composition in trying to make the agreement a success. Obama is all about the “big picture”. However, in order to be successful and, even in failure, be in a position to find success in the future, you must have a real grasp of all the little tiny details. Obama never even held one meeting with our European allies.

I know alot of this is going over your head right now Sparky, but the only U.S. President to EVER get a standing ovation at the United Nations, was Bill Clinton. [THE ONLY ONE!] You know why that is? Because Bill Clinton was THE ONE! In 2012, Hillary will be THE ONE as well!

    Kerry attacks Palin as “Cheney-esque”

Democrats have come up with a new line of attack line against John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin, saying she’s another Dick Cheney.

Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) described Palin as a member of the “flat-earth caucus,” who McCain picked purely to please the conservative base.

“With the choice of Gov. Palin, it’s the third term of Dick Cheney,” Kerry said on ABC News’ “This Week.” “He’s chosen somebody who doesn’t believe climate change is man-made.”

Kerry added that Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters should be offended if people suggest Palin was selected to draw some of the female vote away from the Barack Obama-Joe Biden ticket.

“It’s almost insulting to the Hillary supporters,” Kerry said, calling Palin a “Cheneyesque social conservative who’s going to satisfy the base. John McCain is a prisoner of the right wing, not a maverick.”

The Republican counter attack has been to play up Palin’s credentials as “commander in chief” of the Alaska National Guard, with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), saying “she’s tough, she’s talented, she’s ready to lead. … compard to Sen. Obama, she’s qualified beyond belief.”

I wonder will that right of choice, if overturned, have any criminal and tough sentencing for those young teenage girls seeking an abortion. I’m of the opinion that Roe v. Wade will never be overturned because those affected would raise holy-hell should their daughters be criminally sentenced for having or seeking to have an abortion.

  • HARP

Dick Morris finally writes something worthwhile.

I will always remember taking her aside and telling her she might one day be tapped to be vice president, given her record and the shortage of female political talent in the Republican Party. She will make one hell of a candidate, and hats off to McCain for picking her. Her very presence on the ticket underscores something Obama doesn’t want us to notice: He spent two years stopping a woman from becoming president and now he is about to spend two months stopping one from becoming vice president. Obama could have made history but failed the test. McCain passed with flying colors. That point will not be lost on independent women.

But it was when I looked up her biography after the meeting that I learned one of the most salient facts about Sarah Palin. She knew she was bearing a Down syndrome child but refused to have an abortion. While I am personally pro-choice, pro-choice means just that, the right to choose to have or not to have an abortion. My head bows to the integrity, guts and courage it takes to embark knowingly on such a life challenge because of one’s personal belief in the sanctity of life. When we look at McCain’s loving adoption of a child from a Bangladeshi orphanage run by Mother Teresa and Palin’s knowing birth of a handicapped baby, we see a quality of character on this ticket worthy of the White House.

And so does you bots coming here- We despise Obama! Get lost!

  • kgirl1028

while you are right that all politicians have people who write their speeches, the fact is if bill Clinton were to improve he would still be able to articulate what is in his speeches in a coherent way. Most politicians have other right there speeches because they want to hone the speech to the audience they are talking with. what to say what no to say. Obama shows himself incapable of doing that, he is so cerebral that he seems unable to catch up with his own thoughts.

For example, when they asked the question a saddleback church about Evil does it exist and what do with it. His response was more similar to Sean Pen in Sam I am where he explains that he wants the foster parents to help him raise his daughter because a particular song by the Beatles would not have been the same had Paul not given it to John Lennon to put his final touches on it. Obama was right, but he couldn’t articulate it. what he meant was we have to be careful that we do not become evil in our attempt to stop it. A more eloquent witty remark would have been excessable to Bill or Hillary and not to Obama, is ” In seeking to find witches they burned women” obama does not have the bounce back that the clintons and other successful politicians do. If he is challenged in anyway shape or form, he gets anxious. this is not a good sign with the job of the president is to make decision and have good Judgement. last year I finally was able to read Clear and President Danger, and the thing that stuck out the most to me, was that when you put someone in the white house you say that you endorse his judgement, and that if he makes a mistake, that it is his to make and too bad for us cause when you vote for him you said you thought he knew what the heck he was doing. So instead of telling amy she has a poor understanding of speech writers, you need to ask you self this, do I trust obama to make major decisions and can you live with the results? what I know about John McCain is that he does what is in the best interest of the people who placed him in office. if you compare it to Obama’s “accomplishments in Illinos” you will see just the opposite. I can live with no roe vs wade, but I can not live with a black democrat version of George Bush.

  • NQ Popcorn Concession

My question is will they stay in the tank for Obummer? We could see a shift away from him to McCain which could have been the plan all along?

  • Blue Intrigue

Oh please. How many talk shows did McCain go on to peddle “Faith of My Fathers” and “Worth the Fighting For”?

  • D

I went to Kos yesterday to read their incredibly disgusting diary on Palin’s youngest child actually being the child of her oldest daughter. Completely sick how they’re presenting it as fact and demanding DNA samples.

Ironically, one poster pointed out it was a legitimate story since her resume is so thin… clearly he has a list of demands for Obama too then, right? Other irony was the demands to see the birth certificate to prove fraud. Hmm, what does that remind me of??

So, I went to the Kos home page to find out if they were disavowing the story, and instead I found the video of that beauty pagent contestant who mangled her question badly earlier this year. Not so subtle stab at Palin’s pagent past (which she says she did to pay for college — and she did get a scholarship from it). No companion video of Obama’s “um, uh, well, um, um, but, but, um”, which is a far better comparison to that contestant.

Kerry added that Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters should be offended if people suggest Palin was selected to draw some of the female vote away from the Barack Obama-Joe Biden ticket.

“It’s almost insulting to the Hillary supporters,” Kerry said

Oddly enough he already insulted many Clinton supporters. His state went for Hillary, he went for Obama.

I figure if they were so ALL FIRED UP about women’s rights and equal rights and FAIR & BALANCED Judges……. doh!

    THEY SHOULD HAVE PICKED HILLARY!

    Convenient that Now they worry?
With a choice between a white woman hater and a Vet who (to me) looks to only be trying to do the RIGHT thing for this country after his opponent in 2000 FRIGGED everything UP!!!

McCain should (in his heart) hate GWDouche after the way he treated him in 2000. (glad to hear he can’t make the Rep Convention)

Hillary too was treated heinously. You think she will forget all of that by 2012? Not likely.

Palin (if she stays reasonable) will get my vote.
McKook is the one I’ll plug my nose for but at least I can stomach him.

Certainly could never vote DEM as they are no longer what I call DEMOCRATIC. I have a problem voting for frauds. McCain may not be pretty but his heart is in the right place.

I really think the DNC did vet Obama and they did not care! They were counting on talking us all into voting for the “black guy” to “make history” don’t be a “racist”. You cannot tell me that they haven’t seen this guy in the senate and seen the arrogance! This guy’s personality didn’t just appear in January 2008! They knew. I am certain they did. My belief all along when I checked the guy out was that the dems want to lose. My guess why was, a get rid of Clinton, she would have cleaned house, put the scary GOP in charge again and the terrifed dems will fill the house and senate with dems, hence giving the dems a sickening control, also, they would see money pouring into the DNC and DSCC to try to get rid of those scary republicans for good. This was all a dem plan. I do not believe they ever intended to win the White House for us. After so long out of it, they are probably afraid of it! I am just not sure how Obama fits in, was he in on it, or is he just that stupid as to believe they were all impressed with him? The uh, um, er, duh, er, um, uh, uh, uh, speaking or lack thereof didn’t just start January 2008, did it? They had to have heard this in the senate, even if it was only 143 days worth!

They rather attack and live in ignorance then learn the truth. If God told them about Obama shady past, they still wouldn’t believe it.

I read the preview stories from Obama’s 60 Minutes interview tonight. This comment about Palin reminded me of his, “You’re likable enough.” comment to Hillary in the primaries.

In his first reaction to the choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate, Sen. Barack Obama tells 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft that she is an “up-and-coming public servant.”

Both his comments to Hillary and about Palin are perfect example of how snide and condescending he is. I’ve suffered through one snide, sarcastic, inarticulate, condescending, inexperienced President for the past eight years. I’m not stupid enough to vote for someone with all the same characteristics just because he has a (D) after his name.

  • Dr. Kate

Thank you for this post, RRR!

I am now a PUMA for Palin & McCain.

Here is what i think the next steps are:
    1. Ensure the defeat of Obama/Biden by a landslide. If it is even close Barky will still have control over the democratic party and he will be back.
    2. Do not let any remark by biden/obama slide. If it is sexist, call them out on it, loudly. If it is unpatriotic, do the same. And scream loudly if it is a lie, call them on it. And their surrogates.
    3. Agressively attend all his rallies with the appropriate signage: sexist, liar, “who is barry soetoro”, citizenship, etc.
    4. Continue to support the Denver group so the theft of the delegate count can be pointed out. any time barky tries to get ahead on an issue, remind him of his theft of delegates. compare to JJ, Kennedy, etc.
    5. Begin to loudly demand the resignation of brazille, dean for their dishonesty. Don’t let them think they can do this and get away with it, and don’t wait until november. keep them on the defensive.
    6. Continuously remind the DNC of their sexism and their blown chances.
    7. Vote absentee ballot, encourage others to do so, where you expect there will be trouble with voting machines.
    8. Watch for election fraud.
    9. Fight the sexist smears of Palin.
    10. After the election, a PUMA march on WA demanding the resignation of Pelosi and Reid

Obama dissed Hillary because he is not the type of person who does things for the good of others (the Democratic Party) but rather does things for his own perceived good.

He chose Biden to shore up his weaknesses, especially his inexperience in foreign affairs.

Now comes Sarah Palin and not only tears down Obama’s little castle, but makes Obama look even more lackluster and inexperienced. The excitement of having a woman on the Dem ticket escaped Obama; and now the excitement is with the Republicans.

So much for Cringe you can believe in.

  • TeakwoodKite

President Obama“, Sorry you have your facts wrong.

  • Francis
  • http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com Uppity Woman

In my opinion, if my younger sisters lose Roe v Wade it will be their own fault for taking the rights they have for granted, because they didn’t fight for them. They think these rights will always be there and nothing could be further from the truth.

If this year’s Democratic Primary showed us one thing, it’s that these rights are precarious. In fact they would be completely gone in the wrong hands. And the wrong hands belong to Barack Obama, the man who secretly chuckled with glee as women were bashed by-proxy by his surrogates, his followers, the press and him.

I see many very young women who are dangerously complacent enough to take the time to swoon over a sexy empty suit who has already set gender relations back a minimum of 30 years. If these women lose Roe v Wade because they all want to be the Obama Girl, then it serves them right. Not my problem. I know how not to get pregnant.

It’s my job to protect the rights I fought for that matter to me. I do not take these rights lightly. This is a misogynist’s campaign and if squealing young women are too busy spawning over Leland Gaunt handing out Needful Things and discussing his vibrating cell phone when he leans on one of them, then they will have to learn to take the consequences of their own folly along with the consolations. Maybe then they will Get It. I have already done well enough in my life. Complacency is theirenemy, not mine. If they don’t appreciate what the previous generation of women went through so that they could act like they want to spawn for Barack Obama, then they don’t deserve our help any longer. Let em eat vibrating cell phones.

You are being rolled, girls! But you won’t Get It until it starts to hurt. This kind of pattern rolls down hill into the workplace and the home. You do NOT want a man whose sycophants have the attitude being shown and encouraged by Obama.

    Money quotes:

Sarah Palin’s hometown rallied around her as mayor -now Republicans wonder if the rest of America will warm up to the surprise pick from cold country. Though her mother-in-law has doubts.

Faye Palin (mother-in-law) admitted she enjoys hearing Barack Obama speak, and still hasn’t decided which way she’ll vote.

Faye Palin said the entire family was shocked by the news on Friday.

“I’m not sure what she brings to the ticket other than she’s a woman and a conservative. Well, she’s a better speaker than McCain,” Faye Palin said with a laugh.

  • D

Dems are trashing her for not giving birth to her youngest child in TX instead of returning to Alaska when her amniotic fluid started slowly leaking. She apparently sought medical advice, wasn’t in labor, and had to have labor induced when she returned to Alaska.

They’re also claiming her youngest child is actually her oldest daughter’s child. Saying because the daughter was out of school for a couple months with some illness, because they found a family picture where they think the daughter “must be pregnant” and because Palin didn’t “look pregnant enough” it must be fraud.

Also saw a few comments about how she must have been drinking during her pregnancy to cause her youngest child to have Down’s Syndrome.

It’s very sad how far the Democratic party and Obama’s supporters have sunk. And, it says a lot about their true views about women and the (lack of) respect they feel is deserved.

Sarah Palin is being already being described as an avid anti-abortion candidate, yet when I read her statements on it, I don’t see that. In the first statement I read she said that although she was pro-life, she respected both pro-choice and pro-life points of view, and didn’t think that is was really an issue because the women of America would never let abortion become illegal ever again.

Then months ago, a reporter asked her a hypothetical question about what she would do if SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade and returned the decision to the states. She said it was not her decision to make as Governor, that the voters of Alaska would have to establish the law to reflect their own values.

How refreshing – a politician who not only respects other points of view, but one who also listens to her constituents and doesn’t have the prevalent Washington elitist attitude of ” I know how you feel, but trust me, I’m smarter than you are and I’m going to do what I want to do”. Are you listening, Nancy Pelosi?

Abortion should not be a concern in 2008. With medicine and hopefully a democratic congress this should not scare women no matter how old they are. If the Dems get a vetto proof majority, this should finally take care of this issue. But, it will not, they will not have the courage. They need this issue just as republicans need national security. I will vote a down ticket, I do not want one party controlling the government. And, I do not want the most unqualified nominee of a party in the Whitehouse. She seems like a nice person; very bright; and I’m sure she’s a fine governor for Alaska. But the quotes I’ve seen the last couple of days hardly convince me she is up to the greuling national stage. The vetting has just begun.

My guess is she may become an anchor to McCain.

Geraldine Ferraro said that she was picked in 1984 to be Mondale’s running mate primarily because she was a woman, and that Obama was getting a “free-ride” in the MSM primarily because of his “newness” as a viable AA candidate. She was hammered as a racist.

Kerry, on the other hand said that we should elect Obama primarily because he is black/bi-racial as it would “heal the wounds of our country.”

Kerry is an ass and I hope Ed O’Reilly gives him a run for his money!!

Actually, I’ve seen more vetting of Palin in the last two days than of Obama in the last year. Of course the obot’s idea of vetting is spreading lies but still…

  • bayareavoter

For all those young women suddenly concerned about Roe v Wade: maybe if the Dems had grown a spine we wouldn’t have Alito and Roberts who are, by the way, corporate-ists, just like Barky. And I have more disgust with women my age (boomers) who chose Barky over Hillary.

And I’ll remind all my good friends who voted for Nader instead of Gore in 2000 that they told me then the court didn’t matter.

When NARAL endorsed BO I resigned my membership. I’ll vote McCain/Palin and so will my husband.

  • AngryWhitePerson

What is the problem here? Obama CLAIMS TO BE A SPEECHWRITER. Is McCain making that claim? NO. So when someone says they write their own speeches, then pays someone to do exactly that, or just “borrows” speeches from others, they are lying liars.

Palin is clearly up for the job — great record, accomplished, intelligent, rock solid — and IF she’s an anchor for McCain he certianly picked a winner. Great move by McCain. Unlike the incompetent, ego-driven Obama, McCain realized that women are a majority in this country. He’s no fool.

Nobama: If I were you I wouldn’t judge anyone’s speaking abilities, or lack thereof.

If that ramble you call a post is indicative of your normal speaking skills, then I would gather your command of the English language is still in its infancy.

  • catherine

Palin has more executive experience by far than Obama.By criticizing her experience it only makes him look more of the fool that most of us on this blog already know that he is.

  • CJ

Kerry’s statement is so predictable. I laugh though every time I think about Kerry wanting McCain as his Veep in 2004. Anything he has to say today is so irrelevant because of that as well as he endorsed Obama when his state picked Hillary. If the Dems were smart they would just tuck Kerry away in a corner somewhere.

  • Hispana

Let them keep it up. I understand that the election will be decided by women according to the mouthpieces on the news. If that is the case, this type of trash talk will anger many.
Young women need to be reminded that it was not that long ago when a woman’s duty was to have meals ready, slippers in hand, house cleaned when the man came home after his hard day at work. This woman is genuine whether you agree with her ideology or not. I hope more women will stand up and say enough is enough. The vote should not be determined by race or gender and that is what Obama/DNC/minions have continuously played out.

  • OBushMA!

Kerry is dense. The entire conduct of the Dem Party this year has been a definite (not almost) insult to all women. How can McCain even hope to match that?

  • Babs

Every MSM outlet keeps pushing the Roe v. Wade issue, and they all know that Sarah Palin’s pro-life beliefs will hurt her with Independent and Democratic women.
Could we all just flood their sites with the fact that this year Democratic women will be voting with their brains and not their uteruses?

  • fred

I’ve always stated if Obama gets a bad poll Gallup and Quinnipiac will give him a favorite poll. There’s NO doubt that Gallup and Quinnipiac are in the tank fo Obama and putting up FIXED polls to try and manipulate the outcome of the election. Gallup and Quinnipiac ofcourse has to occassional give Obama a not so favorable day of polls to coverup their manipulation, but don’t be fooled Obama and Oprah has them in their pockets

I think possible the best four years of our country could lie ahead or the worst four years. If Obalittle looses, hopefully, then Clinton will go back to the Senate as the most powerful politician. I think the Party would revert back to her to build back. Obama and Biden will end up totally discredited. I suggest they resign or PUMA should head a drive to force their resignation. That means that Palin and Clinton will face each other in unending matches of legislative nature. I think only be best legislation will surface through that kind of workout. The country will get quality legislation and a better kind of government will emerge. In 2012 Palin will face Clinton in an election that will propose two females of the highest quality and caliber. Is too far to predict but the country will have risen from the ashes that the Idiot has brought it too.

I Obamoron wins, we’ll fare 10 times worse than Bush.

What about his classifying his grandmother as a “typical white woman”? This not only shows disrespect for the woman who worked and supported him while he was growing up – even as his own mother practically abandoned him- but it shows disrespect for all white women. And what he did to Alice Palmer in Chicago, after she gave him his leg up in politics, shows that he disrespects black women also.

Why don’t you try and read the article you’re linking to rather than just the headline?

If you do, you’ll notice that significant credit is given to Favreau, the fellow mentioned in the Times speech.

But yeah, it’s also fairly clear that Obama has the last word on what goes into the speeches. Favreau called being his speechwriter “like being the batting coach for Ted Williams.”

Anyway, why do you care about the authorship of the speeches; you obviously don’t like them, and you don’t like Obama, so why not assume Obama DOES write them?

  • Roxanne

I tried to post a reply to a query in an bove post, but Word Press said ita was a duplicate and then it didn’t post at all. The request was for any comments made by Obama that were sexist or against women. I replied that the remark he made about his grandmother being a “typical white women” when she was frightened by a panhandler who happened to be black was denigrating to all white women. His dissrespect towards black women was also evident in his crass treatment of Alice Palmer in chicago. His grandmother worked and supported him, sent him to private school, and he disses her like this. Alice Palmer gave him a leg up in Chicago when he was just getting started and he rewarded her by cutting the legs out from under her and grabbing her seat.

I’d just like to make another comment about some of the posts here today. I get the feeling that “Blue Intrigue, Freedom Fighter and JKFriz are all the same person. Either that or they have gotten their cue cards intermingled.

I totally disagree with her support and her arguments on this issue. There is no way that drilling in a “wildlife refuge” will not negatively impact the wildlife. One doesn’t just drop drilling mechanisms and pipelines in place, infrastructure is built. Studies have shown significant disruption to wildlife with just the noise of a single snow mobile. Imagine the construction, operation and maintenance and their impacts, let alone the inevitable spills.

Degraded ecosystems are the norm around the world, that is why this is another great extinction period (believe me, our species is not immune to extinction; there are several hominid species that are extinct). Then there is such a thing as keystone species (without these species, the whole ecosystem fails) and canary in the coal mine species. We are even still today, discovering species and we are learning more about ecosystems and what keeps them healthy – but we don’t have all of the pieces, and many mistakes continue to be made that also negatively impact humans. Cumulative impacts are yet to be determined thoroughly – and with each disturbance, we as a species are placing ourselves in danger. Therefore, I am totally dismayed that there are those among you are praising this interview – it is disingenous.

Plus, again, none of this will help us now nor in the near future. We need to implement Hillary’s energy plan.

That said, Obama will cave on this issue and any issue that polls well. He has no core values, he cares about Obama. This is really a terrible choice for the short term; but, I believe that Obama is the death of the Democratic Party because he will be even worse than Jimmy Carter. That means, Republican rule for 20-30 years instead of just the next four (I don’t think that the conservatives will allow McCain to wander from them even if he inclined to do so, so he will fail as President).

I will support down ticket Dems in order to counter balance McCain when he goes off the reservation. Although, I don’t have any confidence in the current Dem leadership – we must ensure that changes. Clinton should be Senate Majority leader and we need to get someone who is not beholden to the PTB’s on the House side.

Exactly. He did it in NYC and I remember the NYPIRG ads well. Anybody could get those jobs, they were one step down from Burger King.

They ran the ads DAILY for YEARS and anybody out of work could go knock on doors and sign up people for a couple dollars an hour.

He did it in Harlem, big whoop. I knew a few local kids who took the job for a couple weeks each summer – when they were desperate.

It is such a zero it is hysterically funny to me.

The other place he worked was the same and after his book came out the people on that site who remembered him filled the comments section with ridicule over the lies he told. They did not wear suits, they wore jeans and t-shirts and did menial work. They called him a liar and that was back before he ran for anything.

So, yeah, his big fat resume, bring it on.

You said it. The spineless House and Senate leaders, Pelosi and Reid squandered their chance to make a change in the country’s direction. They talked a lot (like Barky) but accomplished nothing. They don’t deserve another chance. They need to be removed from office by their constituency, pronto.

And Roe v Wade is just another wedge issue used by both sides to paint the other side as an enemy of the people. I am so sick of it. Roe v Wade will never be overturned, but the extremists on both sides use it to justify their monopolizing of the public trough into perpetuity.

Enough. If these extremists want a wedge issue to yap about, let’s pull their god damn pants up around their eyeballs.

  • JozefAL

Apparently for all his alleged “constitutional scholar” credentials, Obama has failed to explain to his supporters exactly HOW laws are made and passed.
First off, “freedom”, laws are made by CONGRESS. (A President can sign an Executive Order, but the Congress–if it has the will to do so–can overturn such an Order.) A President can recommend that a law be written and passed and sent to him TO SIGN, but he CANNOT make laws.
Second, laws are judged by the Courts. That is what Roe v Wade is–a Supreme Court decision. For 35 years, there have been numerous attempts by lawmakers (of BOTH parties, mind you) to pass laws which would restrict, if not eliminate, a woman’s right to abortion. (Incidentally, you might want to Google the name Robert Casey, Sr and find out what many people believe was behind his being snubbed at the 1992 Democratic Convention. You’ll also find out something VERY interesting about Casey with regards to the Supreme Court.)
In short, we’ve had TWO Presidents in the last 35 years who’ve openly supported an end to legal abortion and BOTH have been two-term Presidents, yet abortion rights have largely remained (albeit with additional restrictions). Also, abortion has become, by and large, a matter that the states have taken up. Many states have imposed restrictions (that the Supreme Court has allowed to stand) on abortion–things like requiring a 24- or 48-hour waiting period, requiring a woman to have the procedure fully explained beforehand (upon which she must STILL wait), imposing higher insurance rates on clinics providing abortions. A number of states have mandated that no one without a medical degree (i.e., only full-fledged doctors–not RNs or LPNs) may perform abortion services. Many universities (including MEDICAL schools) have even taken to eliminating teaching the procedure. There are, in fact, a number of states which have fewer than a dozen abortion providers in total (I seem to recall a story where one of the Dakotas only had ONE provider in the entire state).
So, take a few minutes and actually CHECK on the REAL state of abortion in this country before parroting the Obama party scare tactic about abortion.

Roe vs Wade changed the law of the land 35 years ago, with 19 of those 35 years spent under administrations that would prefer the law changed back.

As hard as it is to extend freedoms by mandate in America, it’s harder still to remove those feedoms once granted.

The threat of challanges to Roe vs Wade is an old, tired refrain. IF that fight omes we’ll fght it.

The interactive survey shows that 22% of those voters who supported Democrat Hillary Clinton in their primary elections or caucus earlier this year are now supporting John McCain.
Among those who said they shop regularly at Wal-Mart – a demographic group that Zogby has found to be both “value” and “values” voters – Obama is getting walloped by McCain. Winning 62% support from weekly Wal-Mart shoppers, McCain wins these voters at a rate similar to what President Bush won in 2004. Obama wins 24% support from these voters

I had the news on in the background today, and suddenly I hear this completely inane comment about “waiting, um, to see, uh, what was needed, canned goods…” and I looked up to see Obambi trying to answer a simple question about Gustav and New Orleans.

It was so labored it rivaled Bush on his typical day.

Except that then The O Messiah claimed that once we knew what was needed, he could get millions there as volunteers. He’s putting his cult to work already!

“Barack Obama is usually the candidate who begs his staff to let him take one more question at every event, but this week he hasn’t been a man to linger.” (Reference August 28, 2008 Times article.)
    +++++++++++

“Toward the end of the press conference, the question of Goolsbee’s meeting was raised again. Obama answered curtly and then walked out after a staffer called last question. The press erupted with shouts, but Obama continued to walk out.

He paused only to say, “Come on guys; I answered like eight questions. We’re running late.”

On the flight from San Antonio to Dallas, Obama, unsurprisingly, did not wander back to make small talk with the traveling press corps. (March 4, 2008)
