Smearing Palin [Updated]

Boy, that 44 year old Governor is scaring the hell out of the Democrats. How else to explain the wild and misleading rumors being put out against her? Let’s start with the nonsense that she’s going to be impeached for trying to get her brother-in-law, an Alaskan State Trooper fired. As Susan noted below the Mata Harley at Flopping Aces has the timeline of the events. (And Memeorandum has a bunch of links.)

Palin stands accused of firing trying to remove Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan allegedly as retaliation for Monegan’s foot dragging in firing Palin’s former brother-in-law, Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a nasty divorce and child custody battle with Palin’s sister. But the allegation does not hold up to the facts. Let’s start with the fact that the investigation of Wooten, which led to his dismissal suspension , started before Sara Palin was elected Governor. And this is not just some messy case of he said/she said. Turns out the Wooten was an out of control law enforcement officer. An investigation of his conduct concluded that he was guilty of the following:

Three incidents of Unbecoming Conduct
Three incidents of Personal Misconduct
One incident of Failure to Perform Duties Properly, Use of Government Property
Two incidents of Conformance to Laws
One incident Use of Alcohol
One incident Operation to Be Prudent and Lawful

These violations included using a taser on his ten-year old stepson, shooting a cow moose without a valid permit, and drinking beer while operating a marked Alaska State Trooper vehicle. (The dude sounds like the cop Seth Rogen played in Superbad.)

Some Dems as well as Palin’s Republican foes in Alaska want you to believe that poor officer Wooten was booted faces disciplinary action by the State Police because he was cheating on his wife, the Governor’s sister, and she is a vicious, vindictive bitch. But no one tells you that the guys pushing this story line–Walt Monegan and Andrew Halcro–have political axes to grind. Halcro, for example, is a Republican but ran as an independent against Palin. And Palin sought to remove Monegan for the following reasons:

- He was not making headway on achieving key goals such as resolving the trooper shortfall.
- He was not making satisfactory progress on resolving alcohol issues.
- He was not a team player in regards to budget issues.

The more I learn about Palin the more I like her. She may be far more conservative than me on social issues, but she is a person of courage and principle. Alaska is to Republicans what Louisiana is to Democrats–it is a cesspool of corruption. Palin took on the Republican establishment. She got a nice appointment on a public board and could have made some extra cash if she just kept her mouth shut and went along with the insider corruption. Instead she resigned in protest as the Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission charging fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest, with lack of ethics. Yeah, that’s a sure path to political success. Just ask Sibel Edmonds and other whistleblowers how much “love” they get from cronies accused of raiding the cookie jar.

But she did not stop there. Next she went after fellow Oil & Gas commissioner, Randy Ruedrich, who also happened to be the state Republican Party’s chairman, for doing work for the party on public time and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail. Goddamn her. Doesn’t she realize how this game of back scratching is supposed to be played? Speaking of audacity, she then filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who subsequently form the Oil and Gas Commission. Randy Ruedrich also paid a record $12,000 fine, which I suspect left him a bit grumpy.

Unlike George Bush, who sought out a war but kept his daughters at home, Sara Palin does not seek to use her position to protect her son. He’s in the Army on the way to Iraq. She says she is pro-life and, when informed that she is pregnant with a Down’s syndrome baby, she carries the boy to term.

These incidents, taken together, tell us something very important about this woman–she talks the talk and walks the walk. She does not ask other people to do what she will not do herself. I challenge anyone to cite just one anecdote about Barack Obama that exhibits this kind of character and courage. Just one.

This is the kind of person we want and need in public office. Hell, I want her as President. McCain can learn a thing or two from her.

Here’s a fun site offering a comparison between Palin and Obama:

  • misstickly

    I agree. Great pick McCain!

    • Leisa

Palin strikes me as a person of convictions. She does not care what party you belong to, you had better serve the public as it is to be served.

What I admire most about Palin, and what I wished Hillary had done, was that she called out those in her party and called a spade a spade, damn the consequences. Americans know the truth when it is available… as much as I love Hillary, imo, she is too much of a party loyalist to go that extra mile…

IMO,do what you know is right… not what will please your party.

      • no vote for Oblabla

        Indeed!

I’m thinking if she wasn’t in politics and had been a Democrat instead of a Republican she’d PUMA ;-)

She’s shown in all her actions that she’s country before party and isn’t that what all us regulars here at NQ strongly agree and believe in?

        • no vote for Oblabla

              • lute

it looks like the choice is between a guy without ethics, but who loosely shares progressive values (until money is waved under his nose), and an intelligent, highly ethical individual, who does not share progressive values.

      • mimi

Unlike Palin, Hillary has no way of proving what happened. Palin’s actions were for the good of the people of Alaska. If Hillary had done something, without proof, people would have called a self-serving sore loser.

        There’s a difference.

But clearly, I respect Gov Palin for these actions.

        • RR

And the media was against her and Bill. Just look at how they blew up at her over the RFK comment or Bill over the fairytale comment. The media would have found a way to spin it against her, just like the NH primary moment.

      • Lynn

I like McCain and Palin. The thing that ticks me off is Hollywood actors who do not live in “reality”. They do not know what they are talking about. What do they care about the poor or middle class? They are all rich. McCain certainly has more experience and a true American.

    • Leisa

McCain is the only nominee that has bothered to ask me for his vote…

Then, he asked Sarah to be his running mate and she asked me for her vote… WOW!

I have never heard from Obama or Biden, humbly asking me to be confident enough in them and their leadership in order to vote for them. No, they told me to ‘get over it”…

      Ok, good luck with that…

I will remember those that were caring and kind enough to bother to ASK me of their vote…

      hugs,

      Leisa

      • s. hall

leisa so much vetting for Gov. Palin but no vetting of Obama. If you ask him anything you’re a racist.

    • thenanaa2

Well I see the rage is also about the Governor’s baby, it is now suppose to be her daughters. How can
there be so much ahte for someone they don’t know?

      • Hope Floats

Oh, they wish! Kossacks’ heads are exploding right now. They were so confident Obama would convince those bitter snake handlers to vote for him. He is, after all, THE ONE. He talks about his sainted mother and milks the Jesus storyline. Then Sarah Palin turns out to be a real mother and a compassionate and faithful Christian.

Obama did not even have the energy to stand on his own 2 feet he had to lean against the white picket fence.
This is the HOPE & CHANGE Obama wants to bring to the country. He cannot even pick a sober running mate.

I am sure Sarah Palin will be busy over the next few weeks making sure we all know exactly who is running on the other side of the stage.

      Yes, GREAT PICK, McCain!

Larry, how can I not agree without insights here. Furthermore, Palin is not dogmatic conservative. She did use her veto to allow for same-sex partners’ benefits. And she blocked a law designed to make abortion illegal when she was mayor! Hell, she’s more liberal than Barry.

I meant to say “how can I not agree with your insights and opinions re Palin”!

Of course I agree. McCain listened to the voters and picked Palin.

    • prue

Someone mentioned Palin, and ethics reform. This is disturbing to me. What we are really talking about here is:

      doing away with individual freedom.

Each one of us has our own PERSONAL set of ethics. Why do we want her enforcing her own, on the WHOLE COUNTRY?!

The laws we have in place should protect us from each other, but should not tell us what to do with our own bodies. They should not tell us how to think, how to feel. That is why we are free. I am free to live as I want as long as it doesn’t get in the way of YOU living the way YOU want. “Ethics reform” is a threat to TAKE THAT AWAY!

We should not have an emotionally driven tyrant trying to convert the world to her own interpretation of Christianity.

Don’t let her gender, her face, or her superficial charm pull you in for all the wrong reasons. This woman is on a religious crusade. That is NOT FREEDOM!

    • jan

She is what so many of us have been waiting for.
Personal attacks and false claims simply means they are all so very scared of her.

  • wry

You know Larry, I explained your blog to a friend not as an anti-Obama web site but as an anti-corruption site. Although 99% of us are against Obama to be sure.
I was concerned when I first heard about the “messy divorce”, but OJ Simpson’s divorce was described as “messy” too, and we know how that turned out.
My husband is a retired Detective 1st grade, and I’m familiar with the culture. If half these accusations against him are true, he would’ve been fired from my husband’s command long before this.

    • Kelvin Hearts PUMAs

No, its anti-Obama. Every blog posted on this site is ridiculously biased against Obama to the point that you have to make stuff up against him. Palin is facing real ethics and corruption charges. Yet she gets a pass. Everything you accuse Obama of is baseless and has absolutely no hard evidence to support it. You support a lie and run from the truth just like the neocons we’re trying to defeat. You PUMAs really need to grow up and soon.

        KHP,

I am unabashedly anti-Obama. I will remind people of three examples of bad or unethical conduct by Obama that have been in the mainstream media as evidence that people on NQ base their dislike of Obama on hard evidence.

I accuse Obama of saying he would filibuster FISA and then voting for FISA. (How many thousand of Obama supporters asked him not to switch to supporting FISA?)

I accuse Obama of claiming credit for working on legislation upon which he did little or no work. It is a matter of record that Emil Jones set out to inflate Obama’s record. (NYT)

I accuse Obama of being a sexist for saying about Hillary, “periodically, when she is feeling down, she tends to lash out as a way of making herself feel better. (youtube: input “Obama + periodically” [posted by Taylor Marsh])

Your claim is false and you have no credibility, KHP.

So take you affirmative action candidate and shove, him.

          • Lynn

Look back in history when Clinton was President. This is when the economy started going down hill. So of course everyone thinks that its all Bushs’ fault. Then as soon as he took office “9/11″ happened. I don’t think the American people see the whole picture. If if had not been for Bush & the military the US would have had more terroists attacks. Why can’t people see this.

      • No Obama for me

        Kelvin,

No we do not need to grow up. We have a ticket now that we can support and it is McCain/Palin.

Zogby has them up 47% to Obama/Biden’s 45% already.

Finally we will have integrity and real hope and change in the Whitehouse with McCain and Sarah Palin.

Obama Barky, BOBO, NObama, BaJoke Ofraudma, Obambi, Obastard, Obozo, Oblowme, Oblahblah, Obamboozle, obasshole, etc.

But if all of a sudden you’ve got a problem with belittling nicknames, how about I just call Mrs. Palin… Miss Congeniality?

So, I was FLOORED when a WOMAN was elected governor. And they LIKE her as governor, because she’s actually done what she said she would do. And what has your MAN done, besides being a pretty face in an empty suit?

                      And (2) tell us about Emil Jones;

and (3,4,5 etc.) talk to me about the people in Tony Rezko’s slum housing (in St. Senator Obama’s district)) who went without heat in Chicago winters because Senator Obama allegedly “didn’t know” about them.

And don’t even think about calling me racist, because I admit up front that I am–just like you and every other human on the face of the earth.

Oh BTW I’m sexist too–also like every other human on the face of the earth.

Why talk about Obama? Thanks to John McCain, this election is no longer about Barack Obama. The next two months are going to be focused on “Who is Sarah Palin?”… “Is she qualified to be vice president?”… “Why did McCain choose her?”… “Will she turn off independents and Democrats with her doctrinaire far-right positions?”… “How will she perform in the debate against Biden?”… “What does this choice say about McCain’s judgement?”

See what I mean? McCain — ridiculously — just threw away his aggressive offensive strategy, and will have to spend the next weeks on defense.

Mark these words: Soon after Labor Day, Obama will be up in the Gallup daily tracking poll by 13 to 15 points.

I like your optimism. Who knows? Perhaps it may just happen.

But I highly doubt it. Obama has been struggling in the polls even before anyone could dream of Palin.

And the States that Obama was hoping to snatch from McCain are now in serious jeopardy. A gun totin’ Mama with balls of steel? Can you say Montana? Oregon? Washington State? Not to mention Idaho! Utah! Conservative states who are going to love a strong woman with their sense of values.

Wake up and smell the conciliatory speech that’s brewing.

You can see the utter excitement this woman is bringing to America. And the continued bashing, after doing so to Hillary, will backfire.

                      Simply brilliant.

The Republicans (I am one) want the abortion/choice decision to go to the States, where it belongs — to the people. We don’t want it decided by judges who are not elected and therefore, not accountable to the people.

This is the big problem many have with Roe v. Wade – it was decided by the Court, not by the people.

          • Ferd McBerfle

This is the big problem many have with Roe v. Wade – it was decided by the Court, not by the people.

While I agree with you concerning the state control of this issue, the court ruling in Roe v Wade only struck down laws that it held to be unconstitutional, which the courts do everyday on a myriad number of cases. Not everything can be decided by the people and I certainly don’t think we want every federal law on the books to be handed back to the states for obvious reasons.

Your a racist and sexist person so you will love how Obama discriminated against Hispanic and Asian populations in Chicago:

Obama states he believes in social equality but then when the 2000 census revealed dramatic growth in Chicago’s Hispanic and Asian populations alongside a decline in the number of African Americans, the Illinois black caucus was alarmed at the prospect that the number of blacks in the Illinois General Assembly might decline. At that point, Obama stepped to the forefront of the effort to preserve as many black seats as possible.

The Chicago Defender quotes Obama as saying that,
“while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.”

At first, I thought Obama was running eight years too early. I thought he needed seasoning.

Now I realize… we’re dealing with “The Natural.”

It would’ve been like telling Kobe Bryant, “You need to play college ball for four years before going to the NBA.” Every once in a while, a player can go from high school to the pros… and dominate.

Yes, his resume is thin. But nobody gets hired on resume alone. There’s the all-important job interview, where you take a person’s measure with your own eyes. Barack Obama has been on a job interview for the past 19 months… and evidently millions of people have faith in his intelligence and judgement.

obambi barley limped across the finish line. The more people know about him the less they like him.

            McCain/Palin 08

            • dee4hill

Obambi didn’t limp across the finish line – he was carried across it on the shoulders of Dean, Pelosi and Kennedy. The Dems set out to accomplish 2 things in this election.

              1) They want so bad to be known as the party of inclusion. They know that the US is fast becoming a non-white majority and they want those future votes. And what did they accomplish? They rammed MORE of the same boring, elitist, out of touch, All Male Club alumni up our butts. AGAIN. Same old song and dance. Only difference, one is brown. These people never learn. But this time it backfired, big time, as they alienated their biggest voting bloc – women.

              2) The Clinton jealousy among the Washington establishment is very broad. They’ve never liked them – called them “hicks” when they arrived in ’92. Not only that, they are terrified of the Clinton payback. The ones that jumped on the Impeachment band wagon knew their days were numbered if Hillary won. They knew that she was going to take her “witches broom” and sweep out the barn. The harassment she and Bill have endured among their own party is unparallel.

I would give my monthly salary to see a debate between Bill Clinton and Baracula. Can you see that? Barky would be running with his tail tucked between his legs to his “baby’s mama.” Bill would eat him a new one, just like he did yesterday at Stephanie’s funeral service. Mr. Great Orator looked like a choir boy next to the Maestro. Bill had every AA in the audience on their feet cheering – you know, the ones that turned their backs on the “first AA President?”

So, NEVER, NEVER! count the Clinton’s out. They are the most astute, natural politicians of our lifetime. I applaud John McCain’s decision to add Palin to the ticket. Brilliant move. The Dems played right into Mac’s hands on that one. And this LIFE-LONG, ex-LOYAL DEMOCRAT will vote for them, based on her sex (how about that race baiters?) Payback IS a bitch.

And then Hillary will be back in four years – she didn’t lose the GE – but he will. So she gets another shot. Because, as we all know, the Dems are unforgiving. Barky loses the GE, he’s OUT. Old news. And enter the era of “the ALL GIRL’S Club.”

Four yeas can’t go by fast enough for me.

              WIN WITHOUT ME, BOYS.

One of my coolest jobs was tutoring math deficient freshman football players so they could qualify to play–strangely, they were all “naturals,” which was why the University had admitted them with conditions. The ones who wanted to play and keep their scholarships studied and worked with others. The ones who went with the “I’m a natural so I don’t have to listen” theme didn’t. (Not to sound racist or anything, but they were affirmative action students from east LA–draw your own conclusions) The big star “natural” who was going to win on “heart” (i.e. going out and doing egocentric spectacular plays) not only managed to get himself injured and on the bench in only a month, he is now doing 10-20 on aggravated assault (rape) and assault with a deadly weapon.

You talk about Obama like he’s an athletic phenomenon, because you think it’s a metaphor that people will easily swallow. Youth is an advantage when your body is your livelihood. There is no substitute for experience in politics.

And anyway, Sarah Palin is a better basketball player than Obama. She earned her nickname Sarah Barracuda as captain of her state championship basketball team. She still runs marathons and is an outdoorswoman who enjoys hunting and fishing.

Though Obama supporters sneer at her being mayor of a town of 9,000, that was her job for 10 years. Obama has never stayed at any job that long, has no experience running anything and goes on and on about being a community organizer with nothing to show for it.

Sarah Palin has a solid ethics record, and that is how she made her career. She beat men over the heads with her shoes!

There is no substitute for experience in politics.

So how come you’re not troubled by the notion of Sarah Palin being thrust into the White House?

Could anything she have learned as a small-town mayor be applicable to governing the United States of America?

There are thousands upon thousands of small towns in America. Are all of those small-town mayors now credentialed to be Commander-in-Chief?

But don’t let me disrupt your fairy tale, Hope. Dreams do come true! Cinderella Goes to Washington!

Thank you for bringing up Larry Sinclair! That was another great thing that happened this week. Remember when Obama thugs called in a favor to Biden’s son who’s the Attorney General of Delaware to put out an arrest warrant for Larry Sinclair during his press conference at the NPC in Washington DC???? That was during the DNC meeting about seating FL and MI. Mmmm? Remember that? Remember how Larry was held without being told what the charges were and refused his medicine and held a couple of days in Delaware? Remember how he and his Lawyer were given the run around for the last two months never allowed to get discovery on why he was arrested in the first place? WELL! Surprise, Surprise! The charges have been dropped due to lack of evidence. When you say? Why, conveniently on the LAST DAY OF THE DNC CONVENTION. What is Barack Obama and Joe Biden hiding if Larry is Lying? Why not just prove you were somewhere else at the time? Why not just prove you were no were near that limo? Why not just disprove it on your SMEARS sight? Maybe you are afraid if you talk about it reporters will start demanding to see those phone records the Chicago Police have. Maybe, just maybe someone will want to interview the family of that dead gay choir master of Obamas church and ask what they suspect happened.

You ask me, the cover up and false arrest directly after a press conference gives a cloud of suspicion over this story. At this point, Larry Sinclair has more credibility than Oblowme Obama.

        • Zee

Well, we saw in Denver what happens if even the MEDIA tries to investigate Obama’s connections. That ABC photographer was arrested….shoved into the street, manhandled and arrested. For standing on a public sidewalk photographing Barry’s wealthy patrons.

          • BlueTopaz

And ABC didn’t show it on air!!! I watched for it, must have missed it or something. It’s not like they didn’t have the footage.

            • Julie

Look for the press conference on youtube. The entire thing is there.

              • BlueTopaz

That’s what I mean. It’s online, but ABC didn’t air it on TV!!

      • Fred

        UBM,

no matter how much you say you have no anxiety about the pick, the more obvious it becomes that you do. A confident person would not have to constantly defend themselves, but instead show their confidence through facts and solid argument, which would in turn cause people to give your point of view more merit.

So, convince us – what has Obama done to deserve our vote? What has Obama done to fight corruption in his home state? What has Obama done.. period?

He really hasn’t done much, has he? Just admit the truth. Remember, the truth will set you free. Be free.

        Yes You Can!

Camp Obama must be operating at a level 10 on the anxiety scale.

You should have seen Arsenio Hall on Leno Fri. night. He was flippin’ out! Nervous adrenalin spewing out of every pore! Jay couldn’t even calm him down. Priceless! The the Obots are freaking out.

She’s a very sunny and positive person, too–I guess you could call her HOPEful.

And what she really is, too, is “CHANGE”–not bullshit change, REAL change. She goes after crooks and gougers. She really is a reformer.

Basically, she does their “themes” better than they do–and she doesn’t make a big deal about it, either.

      That’s why they’re pissed.

  • Francis

Just saw on Geraldo’s show on Fox only 20-30% of the levees have been repaired in New Orleans to withstand Cat 3 storm surges. They are now preparing for Katrina, part deux.

God help the people of New Orleans. G.D. the Bush Administration for not correcting this situation after THREE f’in years!

    • WildChild

I hate to say it but the democratic congress could have appropriated the money for the repairs for almost two years.

      • Francis

Bush is the POTUS. He should have been providing leadership instead of getting us bogged down in 2 wars and running our ecomony into the ground.

Democrats have been trying to get more funding for NO for three years, but the Republican minority has been threatening filibuster. Just ask Mary Landrieux.

WildChild, are you really a democrat?

        • WildChild

Congress spends the money. Now if they had appropriated the money to he rebuild and Bush just sat there, you’d have a legitimate argument to make. But instead, all you have is wild flailing as the room goes dark around you.

          • Francis

Now I know you’re not a democrat. Thanks for confirming.

            • WildChild

LOL the problem with that particular fantasy is you don’t seem to know much

            • Hope

Please, there’s plenty of blame to go around. Bush has the lowest approval rating, but so does Pelosi and the gang. They are all irresponsible and self serving.

            • Ferdberfle

She is correct, Frankie. The administration can’t spend a dime unless Congress earmarks the funds. That doesn’t make her Republican or Democrat–just correct.

Gee…you don’t understand how laws are made, or funds are disbursed (go see Charlie Rangel for your lesson on that, mmmmkay?) and, because you are rather shamefully ignorant, you make spurious accusations about the affiliations of others?

Typical Francis! Never lets facts get in the way of a good foot-stomping whine! Those tears of yours are likely quite bitter, I’m guessing.

The Republicans blocked much of the $ to Louisiana until a Republican got in the Governor’s Office. Then the money started to flow. Right now Louisiana is flush with $. With Louisiana’s track record, that may not have been a bad move.

RIGHT. As if BUSH and CHENEY and their fraud and warmongering makes Rethuglicans proud?

Here is the difference. We didn’t sit around and blindly support Obama the way rethugs let Bush start wars against people completely uninvolved with 9/11, run our country into the ground and have no national guard available to save New Orleans from drowning.

Of course we’re going to rebuild and reform our party. You need your head examined if you think Republicans are the answer!

Maybe McCain and Palin can set a good example for reform and that would be great. But I don’t even consider Obama a Dem. He’s an opportunist. No moral center at all.

            • BlueTopaz

The Dems will have no choice, they will have to reform. Nancy takes impeachment off the table and we are supposed blindly support her and Oblowme?

Republicans are not the answer, but thx to the DNC, they are the better choice.

              Hillary ’12

        • TeakwoodKite

OK, Francis and WildChild you are both right. If Bush failed to act congress should have stepped up.

      • Zee

Bush turned down all sort of FREE HELP offered from all over the world.

Dutch engineers offered to help. I should think they know how to build a damned levy since their entire country is below sea level.

Bush’s entire record has been giving no-bid contracts to corrupt cronies in Texas.

        • BlueTopaz

I lived in Holland. The ENTIRE country is NOT below sea level, but the Vondel Park in Amsterdam IS the world’s highest below sea level. :-)

    • FLGirl

It is really sad but it takes more than 3 years to fix what happened in New Orleans. And trust me, I am NOT defending Bush. I believe the Army Corp of Engineers was gonna be working on the levees, etc. ’til 2011. Now everything may go back to square 1 or worse. I really hope things looked better for New Orleans than they do right now. I’m in FL and we are watching the other storm closely.

      • dpvegas

There’s a strong ridge to the west of this hurricane, which will hopefully hold. Unfortunately, if you’re in FL, that’s not good news for you. If the ridge dissipates, then New Orleans has a problem.

Another problem with the levees in New Orleans are the levees upriver. After ’93, they were supposed to let the river revert back to its natural course. That was 1993.

Today–they’ve built the levees up again.

Also, where’d the Democrats go on Iraq?! This congress was elected on that. And what’d they do? Sent “stern” letters to Bush! One of the ways that Nixon was finally convinced to get the hell out of Viet Nam was when Congress quit funding the war. And since ’06? Stern letters.

    • Obama is a bum

I visited various areas of Hurricane Katrina which covered hundreds of square miles of destruction. New Orleans was not the worst location hit but it was where the news focused. I blame Nagin for not properly evacuating New Orleans. Nagin is an incompetent fool yet those idiots still re-elected him.

Geez look at all the fuss over this and we have a man that is nominated to run for President of this country and half of you cant tell where the hell he was born far less prove it yet.

Half don’t know if he is a Muslim or not, half of you don’t have any idea what he did to get the money from Rezko to buy his mansion,

But yet you all are all pissy faced over a woman that may have tried to get her brother in law fired, I mean come on now, is that really a dam issue?

My great issue is if we are putting a dam Muslim as POTUS and some sure as hell did not and still do not want to investigate that, but now a woman and her brother in law is a major issue and she should be run out of town and politics just for that.

            • s. hall

SJ — We don’t even know what Obama’s real name is. How about the media getting excited about that? Barry Soetoro/Barack Hussein Obama whatever. Does he hold citizenship in more then one country? Why has Hamas given him their support? Why do all his pals seem to hate this country and its people?

We do know that Sarah Palin is an American born in this country and that both her parents are American. As Governor she has an 80% approval rating. Everybody is worried about Sarah but nobody seems to care that the country could be left in the hands or Barry Soetoro/Barack Hussein Obama whatever.

        • alasscan

I don’t watch Fox, beginning to not want to watch anything. The night of Obama’s speech I thought we were going to have to throw a coat over the MSNBC guys or get them a motel room with the way they were behaving about Obama.

Palin. Ok, yes there is an investigation. All this started BEFORE she was a gov. One conversation she had was regarding security after she became gov because the trooper had verbalized death threats on her Dad.

She was within her full authority to fire the top cop. His attempt at a complaint/appeal on that issue didn’t fly because of the fact she could fire all of them with or without cause.
I mean really there are some in Alaska that want an investigation because she is attractive. Can you say ‘good old boy’? How ’bout dirty politics?
I am not a republican but I first met Sarah when she was on the city councilin Wasilla a long time ago. She returned to work in two or three days after delivering her daughter that time. I live in Wasilla. I am very impressed and proud of her.
I was for Hillary. I don’t believe in Obama.
I am almost afraid to vote for anyone. What an election.

          • dpvegas

            Alasscan,
I lived at Ft. Wainwright long before Ms. Palin did anything in politics (mid-’80′s), but I’m a native Idahoan, and she was born in Sand Point (way up north in Idaho, near the Canadian border, just FYI). Not that that has anything to do with anything, just had to say it!

Old boy network doesn’t even begin to describe the good ol’ timers I had to work with there! I was AMAZED and very impressed she got elected. And I’m pretty sure some of those same boys I knew voted against her, but evidently there weren’t enough of them.

She and I could go toe-to-toe on some of the social issues, but that’s been a Republican meat issue. It ticks me off when Democrats try to do it, so I can vote for a Republican–just this once, I hope. At least, with her and McCain, I have oh-so-much more confidence that they walk the walk. I know Barky doesn’t.

      • Joy

From what I read, Palin never tried to get the Public Safety Director to fire her ex brother-in-law. Some of Palin’s aides and her husband did.

In true Republican fashion, she out sourced the job to her aides and husband. Now if her ex brother-in-law was that big of an ass, she should have done it herself.

        • beverly leslie

Kind of like barky outsourcing the jobs of you brownshirts to harass people and spread smears on the internet.

          • Joy

Beverly, I’m tired of hearing how all scared the Hillary voters were of those mean ole supporters of the Beautiful O.

The Clinton campaigns have never been timid. I don’t wear a brown shirt and I voted for Hillary in my state’s primary and caucus.

Not one person intimidated or threatened me. My caucus meeting was well attended and well run. Hillary lost. If McCain’s your choice great but this whine of brown shirts is sour grapes or Republican propaganda.

            • WildChild

it’s not sour grapes or republican propaganda. We experienced it first hand at huffy poo and kos. You soeBOBOweenies have a serious problem with basic American freedoms.

                    • WildChild

LOL sure, whatever you say brownshirt. I’m not to blame for the un-American actions of you soeBOBOweenies. I took an oath once to protect and defend our wonderful constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. When you boneheads went against the first amendment in your rapturous exaltation of Barry soeBOBO, you lost me forever. But keep believing this is just sour grapes. It’ll do you in in the end and save me the trouble.

                    • Joy

Wild Kid, in 1973 I took the same oath as a federal employee and I could not engage in partisan politics until I retired from federal service. Now that I’m retired I’m doing just that.

I have no idea what happened to you at Kos and Huffington. I voted for Hillary but she didn’t get the nomination. I got over it.

                    • WildChild

Now if only I could believe what you say. You see from where I’m sitting there’s something about you twisting everyones name here that leads me to believe you aren’t what you say you are. But then it fits with your MO. You twisted what Beverly said. You twisted what I said…

There’s just this basic dishonesty in you that is unmistakable.

                    • Joy

Wild Kid, I called Beverly by her name. It’s posters who use cutsey names I rag on.

You call me a brown shirt, a reference to Natzi Germany and Hitler yet I’ve not insulted you and you call me dishonest.

                    • WildChild

but you are dishonest (by the way that’s typical brownshirt behavior) and I summed it up when I said I didn’t comment on what the blog had to do with. So I can’t be right or wrong on that topic. LOL much like Beverly never mentioned voting.

You twisted what we said just like you twist names. It’s just part of your inherent dishonesty brownshirt. But then I guess you have to start off with that quality to be a brownshirt.

                    • Joy

Wild Kid, I hope you get the help you need.

                    • WildChild

yup, the final resting place of the bonehead argument. Congratulations, you’ll make a wonderful sheep for Barry

                    • Joy

Because of your McCain’s brown shirts and Palin’s Buchanan brigades the Beautiful O’s getting my vote. You convinced me of it you persuasive devil you.

Now run along Whiz Kid and stay away from the mean ole Kos and Huff blogs. They can be dangerous for fragile little Whiz Kids.

Vince, Republicans stand for individualism. Now that’s funny.

Well he must have been pretty good at it, he beat the Clinton Machine. November will tell if he can get all his newly registered voters to the polls to vote to beat Rove Jr. and his squeaky clean crew.

I think NEW YORKERS have you beat, twice for Senator, and once in the Primary. We dont need a two step.

        • Obama is a bum

We all know how big of an ass Obama is and who is trying to eject him? Certainly no Democrats. Ayers, Wright, Phleger, Rezko, etc., it is no wonder Obama does not want his real life story told.

        • Hope Floats

I don’t give a damn if she frog-marched him out of the police station. The dirt on Obama is worse. The dirt on Biden is worse. Obama voted against FISA, so he could spy on his enemies like Bush and Nixon if he becomes POTUS. That is corruption that bothers me. Not firing a man with a long list of violations who happens to have abused your family.

      • Yo

Uhh, Pewl, it wasn’t her husband who was trying to get him fired. You need to read the whole Flopping Aces article. It was Frank Bailey the Boards and Commissions Director that was questioning Monegan as to why the state trooper hadn’t been fired. The Flopping Aces article really explains it in detail.

Neither of the Palins had anything to do with it. Also this pressure that was supposedly put on the fired guy was done two years ago and a complaint was never filed by him until he was fired. The one who is making sure the issue is pursued is the guy who LOST to Sarah Palin in the Gubernatorial election.

        • dpvegas

Now that’s the definition of sour grapes.

        • Hope Floats

I love the Flopping Aces blog. Good rational commentary.

      • doctorwang

Her husband is referred to as the “shadow governor”. (another reason to be worried) Whether he did it…or she did it…it was her responsibility. TRUMAN: the buck stops here.
BTW: why would anybody in her office give a rat’s @ss about a state trooper they don’t even know? Use you minds. Do you hate O so much that you are willing to suspend your belief in reality?
This is being investigated/pursued by the Alaskan State legislation…..are they making all this up? It is beyond me why McCain would choose someone currently under investigation. It’s insane. What a poor choice.

        • dpvegas

A political rival, who lost to her in 2006, is making the allegations. I have always been skeptical when charges are made in such a manner.

And Michelle isn’t an influence? They’ve both said she is. Why, she controls her husband and home, according to HER. And what would her home be if (God forbid) Barky won?

        • Hope Floats

Her husband is referred to as the First Dude. If you’re a doctor, you’re surely not an OBGYN. Your disdain for women is too obvious.

Wang dang doodle thinks Sarah’s husband, Operations Manager of an Oil rig, active member of the Steelworkers Union, Commercial Fisherman and world class snowmobile racer is a “shadow governor” doing her job for her. Sexist pig!

    • Patti

Kelvin you just dont get it… So why are you hear exactly..

      • SJ

Hey Kevin since you want to do what is right why don’t you investigate Biden son Hunter, you all seem to be so anxious to get dirt on Palin and Biden son Hunter is in a bigger mess.

How come Obama is going all over the place with Biden and not worried about that, how come the press does not think this is major news, Biden is running for VP is he not, and am 100% sure if Hillary daughter was in any wrong dealings with money that would of been major news.

So lets hear some info on Hunter it should be interesting

    • Francis

      I agree with Kelvin.

We simply don’t know all the facts yet and need to let it play out. Apparently there is an investigation right now in AK.

She needs to be vetted, just like Obama, Hillary, McCain and Biden have been.

It seems NQ is already willing to give her a free pass. Hmmm…interesting.

      • WildChild

Do you think she’ll produce a copy of her birth certificate?

        • Ferdberfle

          ROFL

          • jwrjr

This idiot (the talking mule) claims that Obama has been vetted. He hasn’t. But he will be when McCain/Palin get finished with him. The political bloodbath will be historic.

        • Blue Intrigue

Recently FactCheck representatives got a chance to spend some time with the birth certificate, and we can attest to the fact that it is real and three-dimensional and resides at the Obama headquarters in Chicago. We can assure readers that the certificate does bear a raised seal, and that it’s stamped on the back by Hawaii state registrar Alvin T. Onaka (who uses a signature stamp rather than signing individual birth certificates). We even brought home a few photographs.

The Obama birth certificate, held by FactCheck writer Joe Miller

          Alvin T. Onaka’s signature stamp

          The raised seal

          Blowup of text

The certificate has all the elements the State Department requires for proving citizenship to obtain a U.S. passport: “your full name, the full name of your parent(s), date and place of birth, sex, date the birth record was filed, and the seal or other certification of the official custodian of such records.” The names, date and place of birth, and filing date are all evident on the scanned version, and you can see the seal above.

The document is a “certification of birth,” also known as a short-form birth certificate. The long form is drawn up by the hospital and includes additional information such as birth weight and parents’ hometowns. The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. The Hawaii Department of Health’s birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate, but their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department.

So, how does it feel to have been scammed by “TechDude”? Can we please put this lie about the COLB to bed now?

            Even the seals are different.

          • kgirl1028

The only way I will believe it’s real is if you hand to Bill O’Riley and let his team of experts go over it. Hard to believe i couldn’t stand the man less than a year ago.

          • Yo

Oh my God, give it up. Fact Check is owned by Annenberg, the same corrupt organization that was part of Ayres and Obama.

      • HARP

Biden has accepted $5,133,072 in contributions from lawyers and lobbyists since 2003. Obama does not accept contributions from federally registered lobbyists.

And he has one other weakness that hasn’t received much attention to date. One of Biden’s sons, Hunter, is a registered Washington lobbyist in a year in which Obama has been excoriating lobbyists and the culture of corruption in Washington. The younger Biden is a name partner at the firm Oldaker, Biden & Belair, LLP, and seems to have specialized in lobbying for just the kind of earmark spending by Congress that Obama has vowed to slash. Republican insiders say the party is likely to make an issue of Biden’s family lobbying ties.

Also expect to hear more about Biden’s close ties with credit card companies. His largest contributor (based on total contributions by employees) over the past five years has been MBNA, the Delaware-based bank aquired in 2005 by Bank of America than until then was the world’s largest independent credit card issuer and a major supporter of the 2005 bankruptcy bill that Biden crossed the aisle to support.

        http://hotair.com/archives/2008/08/23/bidens-lobbying-ties/

        • WMCB

Correction: Obama started turning down lobbyist money shortly after he got the the Senate, right about the time he set up his exploratory committee. He raked in plenty of lobbyist money in his entire political career before that, in his Senate race, etc.

Another tidbit ; he already has a fund set up for his Senate reelection if he loses, and is currently accepting lobbyist money there.

He only stopped it for his presidential run alone, as a political ploy to paint himself pure as a virgin. Edwards at least, when he talked about lobbyists had credibility. He never took a dime from them. Bambi’s objection to lobbyists is a huge joke.

      • Katmoon

        • Kelvin Hearts PUMAs

Obama’s been a rising star in national politics since the 2004 Dem convention. His life has been an open book since then. I know all about Rezko, Ayers and Wright. I have yet to hear or see Obama do and say anything that can be considered un-American. He has been vetted. The only people who don’t think so are a handful of angry Hillary huggers and xenophobes like Hannity and Rush. The people who supported him and helped him win the nomination have no reason to believe he is not the person who can take America in the direction it needs to go. We just don’t buy any of the bullshit that he’s the anti-Christ, or trying to subvert the government from the inside for Indonesian take-over, or trying to enslave the white race as president, or whatever you PUMAs are making up about him next. Palin may come out unscathed from her scandal, but the fact remains, she was picked rather hastily. Obama worked side by side with Biden in the Foreign Relations committee. That made Biden a great choice for the democratic ticket. McCain meet Palin once on February and talked to her on the phone once. That re-enforces my support of Obama. McCain has questions he needs to answer concerning his judgment.

Kelvin you say ” have yet to hear or see Obama do and say anything that can be considered un-American.”

Is it un-american to profit of the misery of poor people?

Is it un-american to vote for FISA?

Is it un-American to vote for Cheney’s energybill?

            Is it un-american to lie?

It is un-american to violate numerous Federal laws, negogiate with Syria, Iran, Canada, Mexico and god nows what else?

Kurtzer said he informed the Obama campaign of his trip to Damascus.

The State Department considers Syria a state sponsor of terror. Damascus openly hosts the leaders of the Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror groups and is accused of providing weapons and financing to the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah terror group..

Was it un-american to lie when BO say man Ayers “was just a guy in the niebohor hood?

Was it Un-American to channel money and kick backs to his patrons?

Was it Un-american to willing accept donations and loan deal from people who are not American citizens.

It’s like accidently trippng over a diamond that this woman was given to the American voters from out of nowhere. After the lows of watching Hillary have to bow down to the One, we were given hope again. This election may turn out better than anyone could have imagined. I finally think that America has a chance to really do something great again.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all my fellow Americans who may be in the way of that monster storm heading for the US. May you all find safety.

The sheer immediate frantic response from the Oblabla Campaign was a neon sign flashing that McCain made a great chess move of which there was no defensive counter move. McCain captured the queen and place Oblabla in check.

Palin was the absolute best choice for McCain to make. And as a Hillary supporter, I didn’t feel insulted by his targeting us. I felt noticed and appreciated for a change. McCain bent over backwards with his speech, her speech, the signs in the auditorium and the choosing of a woman to show us that he’s been listening to our complaints. I was going to vote for McCain before but Palin as VP makes it easy for me now. McCain’s pick shows me what kind of president he intends to be and I’ll take that over fraudulent bulling thuggish Oblabla any day.

    America first!

This looks to me like the sister was a victim in a classic domestic abuse situation. Also, Palin recounts that the trooper ex-husband threatened to kill her (and thus her sister’s) father for having the temerity to hire a lawyer to protect his daughter. Why wasn’t this guy fired long ago? Are they that hard up for troopers in Alaska?

OT: Two SC Dems (one a former DNC head, the other a Congressman) were taped while on an airline flight joking about Gustav hitting NOLA and upsetting the GOP convention, with the quip “God is on our side.” Fowler is still a member of the DNC apparently. Will Obama demand his resignation? Here’s the video link — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrBus8ORR78

Finally, a video of Palin shooting a gun while visiting the troop in Kuwait. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn7UzxXv8p4 If you were backed into a corner by thugs, who would you want to bail you out? McCain? Palin? Obama? Biden? I think the top two choices are obvious. All Biden and Obama have done their whole lives is talk.

Oh, one other thing. If you want to see someone operate under pressure, read the transcript of what Sarah Palin said what she did when her sister was being threatened by the ex, and Sarah was listening in online. (Go to Larry’s citation above, and when there look for the trooper interview.) While listening to the threats on the phone, she was getting ducks in a row, making sure a neighbor was monitoring the situation, using another phone to call one of the kids, etc. She had a cool head during an emergency.

    • Obama is a bum

Fowler’s attitude is disgusting. If he had visited some of the destruction from Katrina and talked to some of the people who had their homes destroyed and lives severely disrupted perhaps he would not find a disasters like this so amusing. Or perhaps he is just a pathetic man.

    • Zee

kat, apparently, yes, there was a trooper shortage, and the dolts said since he did not make this threat directly to his father-in-law, it was not “criminal.”

I still don’t know how tasering a kid didn’t get him fired.

The more I learn about Palin the more I like her. She may be far more conservative than me on social issues, but she is a person of courage and principle.

I agree, but the social issues just aren’t that important this time around. We have far too many problems that need our immediate attention and need someone with courage and principles. She fits the bill rather nicely.

What I read was that Palin once said that she wasn’t seeking to add Creationism to the curriculum, and that she wasn’t for stopping discussion of it when children ask about it in school. But this stuff is coming so thick and fast on the Internet, I don’t know the overall picture on this one. As somebody points out further down, Obama isn’t averse to creationism in the schools. (I’m not fond of it myself.)

        • Andy

          Palin on evolution:

According to The Anchorage Daily News, she has supported allowing the teaching of the debate between creationism and evolution in public schools, if students bring it up, and not necessarily as part of the curriculum.

She seems like a real, down to earth person that I will vote for.

    Go John and Sarah!

    • Zee

She made a terrific speech when McCain introduced her….without stuttering and without a teleprompter.

She also visited the wounded soldiers when she was in Germany.

And she didn’t just vote present 100 times while governor, or flip-flop on every single stinkin’ issue!

And it’s so nice to hear someone give a great speech without a teleprompter.

I wasn’t really happy with this choice, but the more I read about her, the more I like her. Unlike Barky–the more I know about him, the more I’ve dislike him until I now simply despise him. He should’ve stayed in Illinois.

Just a little harmless satire at the thugs attacking Sarah Palin’s family; it’s based on what happened to Grover Cleveland, except in his case it wasn’t a smear.

        Wikipedia:

To counter Cleveland’s image of purity, his opponents reported that Cleveland had fathered an illegitimate child while he was a lawyer in Buffalo… The derisive phrase “Ma, Ma, where’s my Pa?” rose as an unofficial campaign slogan for those who opposed him… Following (Cleveland’s) electoral victory, the “Ma, Ma…” attack phrase gained a classic rejoinder: “Gone to the White House. Ha! Ha! Ha!”

John McCain and Sarah Palin are not in power. Neither is Obama.

But George W. Bush sure is, and yes if New Orleans gets messed up again, there will be hell to pay for the Bush Administration and by proxy the Republicans.

Since McCain promises to run the gov’t pretty much the same as Bush, he may catch hell too. But he has no one to blame for that but himself.

Last Updated: June 28, 2008: 4:47 PM EDT with Charlie Black

On national security McCain wins. We saw how that might play out early in the campaign, when one good scare, one timely reminder of the chaos lurking in the world, probably saved McCain in New Hampshire, a state he had to win to save his candidacy – this according to McCain’s chief strategist, Charlie Black. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an “unfortunate event,” says Black. “But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.” As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. “Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,” says Black

                    • WildChild

LOL yeah I already knew there wasn’t a video.

Wild Kid said “LOL yeah I already knew there wasn’t a video.” Now aren’t you special.

You can read it yourself. Charlie Black said Republicans, McCain in particular, benefit from a terrorists attack on the US.

                    • WildChild

Are you kidding? We blogged about it when it happened. LOL that’s how I knew there was no video. What you will find though is video of keith oberman going insane over black’s remarks yet then just a few months later yucking it up with Micheal Moore when he’s saying a hurricane is proof there is a god in heaven. So surely they are not the same as you would have us believe. The hypothetical gets the condemnation of Keith. The actual gets the laughter of Keith.

                    • Joy

Whizo Kid, someone on this blog had a video of a Democrat on a plane talking about a Hurricane hitting New Orleans and how that helped the Democrats. I referenced that. And said that was as despicable as Charlie’s statement that a terror attack helped McCain and the Republicans. No where did I mention Moore or Olbermann.

                    • WildChild

sorry joy, the guy in the plane isn’t saying a hurricane hitting New Orleans would help the democrats. Also, I wonder what *political* impact Gustav is going to have. I truly hope that the levees in N.O. hold, and I hope nobody is harmed. But I think that if we see oil rigs adrift in the Gulf, knocked off their moorings by a hurricane, maybe folks will think twice about expansion of drilling offshore.

Think about it – if we are even more dependent upon offshore drilling for oil, we put ourselves in tremendous jeopardy of having supply disruptions, and every time a storm even thinks about forming, we’d be subject to increased prices thanks to speculators.

How clasic.. almost as good as Pelosi and Obama saying how they’re going to end our dependence on foriegn oil by making sure that they continue the existing domestic production bans in place.

          • Mr.Murder

            That’s very disingenuous to assert.

We place import caps on oil and gas to make the price higher.

We started drilling onshore protected timber lands when GWB took office and the price went up as a result. Our pricing now reflects the cost of getting wells to run, and with oversight of them peeled back so they can mark production incorrectly and further bottleneck the price.

I’ve worked for an oil service sector supplier, and it really gets me to hear people lie about the extent to which we allow the seven sisters to inflate prices in North America.

You’re aware we have less total refining capacity than we had when Ike was President?

            • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 VinceP1974

              Disingenious?

What I said was true.. that is their position… nothing you said addressed whether or not Obama and Pelosi stated they want to eliminate foreign oil while simultaneously preserving the existing production bans.

              • Mr.Murder

You act like they put limits for wells that are online. They’ve been caught underreporting the amount of online wells also.

Mostly on protected lands the Native American tribes have claim or lease rights to, or had lease rights to at one time.

New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin has ordered the city emptied tomorrow in the face of “the storm of the century”, warning anyone that stays behind that they are on their own.

“I am announcing today mandatory evacuation of New Orleans starting 8am Sunday (2300 Sunday AEST) on the West bank,” Nagin said at a press conference. “We want everybody… we want 100 per cent evacuation. If you decide to stay, you are on your own.”

Mandatory evacuations in St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles and lower Jefferson parishes
      by The Times-Picayune
      Saturday August 30, 2008, 12:52 PM
Two East Texas counties issued mandatory evacuation orders, and authorities in Mississippi, also battered by Katrina, began evacuating the mentally ill and aged from facilities along the coast.
National Guard soldiers on Mississippi’s coast were going door-to-door to alert thousands of families in FEMA trailers and cottages that they should be prepared to evacuate Sunday.
In Alabama, shelters were opened and 3,000 National Guard personnel assembled to help evacuees from Mississippi and Louisiana.

Issued by the Red Cross 45 minutes ago:
WASHINGTON, Aug 30, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ — As mandatory and voluntary evacuations force Gulf Coast residents to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Gustav, the American Red Cross encourages everyone affected by the storm to prepare before evacuating.

I have been reading some of the media headlines and some blogs and its so strange the lengths that some of these media people are going to to dump on this Palin choice.

A small town American gal that got married and worked her way up seems to be something we must never have in politics or even dare to think of maybe president.

On the other hand a slick Chicago AA, who sat for years in a church slamming America, whose friends are questionable, who we are not 100% sure is he has some kind of Muslim connection or not, who still leaves a blank with names like Rezko and his wife stint on the hospital board. All these unanswered gaps seems acceptable to place in the WH, rather than the hockey mom with 5 kids.

This country has really lost its way in this election, seems everyone loves a image, a make believe setting, glitter and glamor, as I read through some of the stuff on the internet I feel sick for this country and hope that good sense will prevail in the end, if not we really deserve what we get.

    • MrMike

The type that is supporting Obama in this election cycle is no different than the Bush supporters from the two previous cycles.

      • Zee

True…what is different is that the party faithful who see through him are fighting him tooth and nail. PUMA style.

Something no Republicans did through two terms of Bush-Cheney disaster.

But it is just heartrending to learn first hand that the extremes on either end so resemble each other.

And maybe reform is finally on the agenda.

  • blog force one

The Obamabot ad men prolly spent a coupla hundred thou. doing anti- Romney ads after Mcains head fake on thurs aft! the Palin pick cleaned their clocks! it completely negated the speech! even the MSM had 2 run all day and nite with the palin story! Obama speech?? WHAT SPEECH!

    • WildChild

It didn’t carry very far in that thin Denver air did it? :)

      • TwoTermObama

NEW YORK — Barack Obama’s audience for his acceptance speech at Invesco Field in Denver likely topped 40 million people, and the Democratic gathering that nominated him was a more popular television event than any other political convention in history.

    • Obama is a bum

You’re right, they probably did so much work on anti-Romney ads they are pissed since they can’t show them. But they have already demonstrated that they are good with the anti-women campaign so they will pick up with Sarah where they left off with Hillary.

  • HARP

We are FINALLY able to make this one right, and openly battle CNN, ABC, FoxNews and MSNBC, every time they make a SEXIST case against Sarah Palin. Every time they play the “inexperience” card, we must throw it back in their face with Obama’s own pathetic resume. Ironically, most of you can already point out a few clear achievements of Sarah Palin, even without knowing much about her, while most Obama surrogates, including Mr. Dukakis, are utterly unable to pin point a SINGLE achievement by Barack Obama.

So please, get ready, because the Media’s motors are starting up again, and you will now hear EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR PUNDITS come up with very creative ways of arguing that this new woman is “no good”, “needs more time with her ’special needs’ child”, “she reminds them of their nagging ex wives”, etc.

Will we allow this same nonsense to happen again? Or will ALL of Hillary Clinton’s supporters, irrespective of the SUPPOSED platform agreements that they may share with the DNC, take a stand and finally support a strong woman for an executive position? Do any of you really think that 95% of the African American population who is now supporting Obama GIVES A DAMN about his “political proposals”? Do you think that the DNC is using their support to get to the White House out of their love of “racial equality”? Isn’t it time to have women show their power by putting their ballots behind a woman, even if only by 51%?

If you have no intention of voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin it is incumbent on you to smack down the sexist pigs at MSNBC and where ever else they raise their porcine heads to grunt and squeal their bias against women.

    • Obama is a bum

I did not realize how bad the sexism was until the Obama campaign shed light on it. People can decide these next two months if they want to finally stand up to it.

Everything the Obama campaign stands for is wrong.

    • s. hall

Harp — I will take a stand–ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Gov. Palin is in effect being investigated by the thugs in the Obama Campaign. Until Obama can prove he’s an American whose name is Barack Obama nothing he says or does carries any weight with me. To the Democratic Party — you are shameful.

  • candymarl

I find this interesting. If Palin has so much “dirt” on her why didn’t it come out before her selection as VP for McCain?

After all, the MSM/Corporate media covered for John Edwards all of this time. They only reported it reluctantly and dropped the story as soon as possible.

Does that sound like media that would ignore dirt about Palin? There were many articles about the corruption in the Republican party in Alaska. I read them. Palin’s name wasn’t in any of them.

Well, were used to it by now. The MSM/Corporate media are now absolute truth tellers now that they mostly support Obama. Aren’t these the same outlets that have carried water for GWB all of these years? The evil MSM/SCLM/Corporate media? Now they’re honest.

    • TeakwoodKite

How many NYC / LA /DC media type wish to go to Alaska and leave their cozy confines of tingling legs and Pimping their wares on Pennsylvania ave.

A least some stringers in Alaska will get some biz.

Anyone have the Who’s who in Alaskan politics 2008 edition?

Be nice to know who is racking the balls on this table.

  • Laura in Alaska

Great article, Larry. But some of your facts are wrong.

The trooper, Wooten, was never fired. He is still working as an Alaska State Trooper as I type.

The commissioner, Monagen, was never fired either. Sarah offered him another job, but he didn’t like it and so he quit.

This has all the making of a hit job. The democrat spear heading the investigation, Hollis French, is active in Obama’s campaign in Alaska. The investigator, Branchflower, used to work with French in the prosecutor’s office. Branchflower’s wife used to be a detective who used to work for Monagen when he was top cop for Anchorage. There’s a quote of her heaping praise on her old boss.

You would think they could have found an unbiased investigator for the $100,000 that is being paid to Branchflower.

    • candymarl

Thank you for the info from one who knows. So the firings didn’t happen.

So why is the Obama campaign saying they did?

So much for the vindictive woman going after people she didn’t like. So much for the scandal.

Thank you. But I do have a question. If you know this because you live there why is the MSM/Corporate media reporting otherwise? It wouldn’t be that hard for them to find the truth. They could talk to Alaskan residents such as you.

You’re right. It’s a hit job and a swift boating of the first order.

      • WildChild

A big question on the investigation — why couldn’t they hire a retired judge to conduct the investigation?

It’s stupid on the part of the Alaskan Dems — if it comes out against her independents will say it was biased anyway.

Personally, I think only the blogosphere will care. Most people vote on other issues and perceptions.

Wooten sounds like an out of control thug.

I truly hope this woman is up for the job. There is much to discover about her at this point. She seems refreshing and honest and energetic and enthusiastic, and doesn’t strike me at all as a coy and conniving politician who speaks out of both sides of her mouth. Whether she can withstand the rigors about to confront her remains to be seen. After all, we have the prototype inexperienced candidate who can talk a good game in front of us right now. Maybe she can charm the media just as he did.

In a month’s time, let’s see where the polls stand, and let’s see if the promised bombsells against Obama materialize.

It could be a very different race, with different names on the ticket, if JoeBama is tanking in the polls. We shall see. Honestly, I think Obie would throw Joe under the bus (hmmm….health reasons, perhaps) if he felt that a do-over with Hillary would resurrect his hope-change thing.

This is going to be an extremely interesting couple of months as we watch and see how America responds to this experiment by both parties.

God, I hate GWB more than ever. If he wasn’t a total screw-up, we would never have been so vulnerable to the “change” message, and frontrunner Hillary would be safely nominated now, probably with Evan Bayh, Rendell, or even Obambi as her number 2.

    • Obama is a bum

I truly hope this woman is up for the job.

As VP she is. Even if McCain dies, Palin is more qualified than Obama as presidential material. So the Obama strategy of trying to pretend McCain will die and Palin gets elevated to president is a loser for Obama.

      • vinnie

Okay, why are we talking about her being a heartbeat away from the president when McCain a full clean bill of health and we’ve yet to see Barry’s full health record. What we got was a note from the doctor saying he’s healthy and the check up was 13 months prior. Seriously, the dude used to smoke like a chimney, he did drugs, and AA males tend have the highest rate of cancer.

God, I hate GWB more than ever. If he wasn’t a total screw-up, we would never have been so vulnerable to the “change” message, …

It’s impacted almost all the local elections where I live. Boards are being tossed aside wholesale. Opportunists of the most corrupt stripe have leveraged the change message to have their sorry asses catapaulted into power.

I have yet to see Obama hold a job where he was successful at.

  • WMCB

In all the hoopla over OMG HE PICKED A WOMAN!!, I am beginning to wonder if the stupid Obama is missing the forest for the trees.

Gee, McCain picked a running mate who is as far outside the political back-scratching favor circuit as one can get. He picked someone who has a squeaky clean history of being a reformer, when it comes to political favors and kickbacks.

Why on earth would he do that? Could it have anything to do with the fact that Obama is neck-deep in the entrenched and notorious favor-trading of the Chicago Combine, and the Repubs are sitting on TONS of juicy info about that whole little sordid sewer from which this guy arose?

So while the bots are all focused on “OMG SHE HAS TEH ICKY VAGIIIINAAAAA! IT WAS A FEMALE PANDER PICK!!!,” the Repubs are laughing their asses off at the REAL agenda behind this pick.

I would not be in the least surprised. And BTW, I LOVE me some gun-totin’, take-me-or-leave-me, get-yer stinkin-cronyism-outta-my-face woman. I like that a whole lot.

    • Hispana

    • 935 Lies

If she can out-cuss, out-fly and out-shoot my daughter, I might think of adopting her…

    • TeakwoodKite

Why on earth would he do that?

Perhaps he is all to aware of what Cheney did. He profers a VP that is not prone to turn and look away from corruption.

I have little doubt that Governor Palin can chow down with the best of them.

I do marvel at the constant irony of the symbols…sort of like Queequeg tossing his bones.

“The straight warp of necessity, not to be swerved from its ultimate course- its every alternating vibration, indeed, only tending to that; free will still free to ply her shuttle between given threads; and chance, though restrained in its play within the right lines of necessity, and sideways in its motions directed by free will, though thus prescribed to by both, chance by turns rules either, and has the last featuring blow at events.” Chapter 47, pg. 181

      .

    • Zee

      Oo! Testify!

Let’s see Obama pull that “Annie get your gun” chit on Sarah!

Wow, we really did get Annie Oakley!

And I have been amusing myself with the Obama Collective meltdown and you would not believe some of the comments.

Your “icky vagina” comment truly captures their mindset, I kid you not. One Mother Jones poster could not wrap his mind around a “lactating VP.”

And this truly bizarre statement…of course, they all will defend Sarah’s ex-bro-in-law, but they find her dad “scary.”

Why? Because he interrupted his day of carribou hunting and gold prospecting to enjoy his daughter’s acceptance of the VP nomination.

Gee, frontier men still exist. I don’t find that scary at all….it’s exciting!

Let’s get ready to rumble! Bring it on Barky! Just wait until America gets to know the REAL you. Scared? You should be!!

  • Rozanna

Mc Cain took the “change” right out of the Obama/Biden ticket. Sarah Palin is an excellent pick.

I too am a Democrat, but am willing to wait 4 years to get the right candidate. The GOP platform is antithetical to what I believe. But things are in such a terrible state, especially the spending and deficit. Let Republicans try to start cleaning up the mess Bush made.

Perhaps as Pelosi, Reid, Brazile, and the rest of the DNC clowns watch the Republicans snatch the election out of their mouth, they will get the message from the 18M of us they trampled on.

I am a female, registered Democrat, never voted for a Repub. But will this time… Eeenner-Neeneer Nancy, Donna and Howie. Way to go!! Oh, and keep you hands off of Sarah. I find it so enticing to think when she will be the President of the Senate. I wish Hillary would stop all this campaigning stuff for Obama. She owes them nothing. Gov. Palin just said “That glass ceiling will be shattered”, after paying authentic tribute to Senator Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro. She was even boo’d by the crowd when she mentioned Senator Clinton and didn’t bat an eye.

Of course Governor Palin, was giving a Campaign speech, yet what I heard was said with a tone of voice, that hadn’t the quality of indifference that is so prevalent in BO’s pronouncement and edict’s.

So much for domestic harmony on the home front.

When Pallin was running for Governor she was asked this question……

If Roe v. Wade were overturned and states could once again prohibit abortion, in your view, to what extent should abortion be prohibited in Alaska?

Under this hypothetical scenario, it would not be up to the governor to unilaterally ban anything. It would be up to the people of Alaska to discuss and decide how we would like our society to reflect our values.

    • LAMusing

Further, she lied about it. She said that neither she nor her staff contacted Monegan. In fact, there were numerous communications from her staff and herself trying to pressure Monegan’s actions.

And obama funneled over 14 million tax dollars to Reko even after he knew he was a slum lord, Heck he even let suspected throw him a kick off party before he ran for office. He let a radical muslim give him a reference to college, and paid ties at a church where the pastor damns America. And if that don’t beat all, he took money from three member of Hamos and wasn’t going to give it back until people started asking questions. He glad skipped away with a stolen Historical nomination for president that majority of the people in his party wanted to give to another candidate. So the way I see it. Get real! Vetting and critiques are part of the process. If Palin and her supporters can’t stand the heat, maybe she should go back to Alaska. If she can’t stand up to Jeralyn and Ben Smith @ Politico, how can she stand up to Putin? :)

Surprise? First Two National Polls Find Palin Gains LESS Support from Women

          By E&P STaft

          Published: August 30, 2008 1:35 PM ET

NEW YORK The first national polls on John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin yesterday came out today from Rasmussen and Gallup — and contrary to what the GOP probably hoped, she scored less well with women than men.

Here’s a finding from Gallup: Among Democratic women — including those who may be disappointed that Hillary Clinton did not win the Democratic nomination — 9% say Palin makes them more likely to support McCain, 15% less likely.

From Rasmussen: Some 38% of men said they were more likely to vote for McCain now, but only 32% of women. By a narrow 41% to 35% margin, men said she was not ready to be president — but women soundly rejected her, 48% to 25%.

Only 9% of Obama supporters said they might be more likely to vote for McCain.

Overall, voters expressed a favorable impression of her by a 53/26 margin, but there was a severe gender gap on this: Men embraced her at 58% to 23%, while for women it was 48/30.

And by a 29/44 margin, men and women together, they do not believe that she is ready to be President.

As for voters not affiliated with either major party, 37% are more likely to vote for McCain and 28% less likely to do so.

Gallup is now out with its own initial poll. It also shows women with a slightly less favorable view of Palin. An excerpt from USA Today:

There is wide uncertainty about whether she’s qualified to be president. In the poll, taken Friday, 39% say she is ready to serve as president if needed, 33% say she isn’t and 29% have no opinion.

That’s the lowest vote of confidence in a running mate since the elder George Bush chose then-Indiana senator Dan Quayle to join his ticket in 1988. In comparison, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden was seen as qualified by 57%-18% after Democrat Barack Obama chose him as a running mate last week…..

Among all those surveyed, 35% call Obama’s speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium Thursday night excellent, 23% good, 15% “just OK,” 3% poor and 4% “terrible.” Sixteen percent say they didn’t see it and 14% have no opinion. That’s higher than the ratings for acceptance speeches by President Bush and Democrat John Kerry in 2004, by Bush and Democrat Al Gore in 2000 and by Republican Bob Dole in 1996.

Asked about the Democratic convention’s impact, 43% say it makes them more likely to vote for Obama, 29% less likely. Nineteen percent say it won’t make a difference.

          • TwoTermObama

Big fist bumps and high fives on that link, Francis! Although they spray truth repellent in these parts, so be careful.

            • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

I guess you missed in there the statistic that 37% of unaffiliated women were MORE LIKELY to vote for McCain with Palin on the ticket. That’s not good for Barky. Probably those Dem women who said they were less likely to vote for McCain were already planning on voting Obama anyway.

              • John House

Yeah, I really liked this bit:

“Only 9% of Obama supporters said they might be more likely to vote for McCain.”

As if Crazy Cultmembers would ever abandon The One for McCain in the first place.

                • Hope Floats

McCain only needs 4% of Democrats to win. It seems like he’s convinced the undecideds, and he has energized the base.

          • Tom K.

Francis, you wait a few weeks, after people get to know her a bit, and then let’s see what those polls say. I think you’re jumping the gun on this.

      • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

That headline was misleading. Polled Democratic women weren’t thrilled, but INDEPENDENT women were more likely to vote for Palin.

      • vinnie

the conservative base is FIRED UP about Palin…can you say the same about the Dems and Biden? Joe Biddy is stale as last week’s bread. And did you hear him on the stump today? Must have been a long drive on that bus with meeeechelle for him to hit the booze that early.

    • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

The comments on the last post are priceless. One guy went on a long rant about how stupid the media was for falling for the “dirty Karl Rove trick” of McCain announcing Palin on the heels of the Democratic convention. Oh, how horrible and dirty it was for the Republicans to do that, when the DEMOCRATS should have gotten all the attention over Obama’s great speech!

      Pathetic, really.

    Obama’s own words in 2004:

There are no red statges or blue states, only the United States

There is not a liberal America or a conservative America, there is only the United States.

  • Chad3337

I was sitting out the election until McCain selected Palin. If the message and the agenda is going to be to fight corruption, and the ticket’s going to be about attacking earmarks and greased palms, I’m all over that. Palin may be more socially conservative than I am, but also endearing and not rigid or hateful. I’m embarrassed to say it, but I cried when I heard her speak in Dayton. It was so wonderful to hear a politician that was so genuine–someone Americans can easily relate to and admire. Hell, I wouldn’t mind having her at the top of the Republican ticket. But with McCain/Palin, there seems a slim chance there might be change they can deliver, rather than change we can “believe in.” Is it to late for Hillary/Sarah to run as an Independent ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sorry we’re going to have to wait for 4 more years for health care reform, but maybe ethics reform isn’t a bad place to start . . .

    • socalannie

      Well said!

    • prue

Chad, you do realize that this so-called “ethics reform” takes freedom away from the individual, right? Do you really want someone ruling the country with a RELIGIOUS agenda? Especially seeing as we don’t all share the same religion, we don’t even share the same brand of Christianity. Also, her seeming so genuine is just like any snake-handling preacher who really seems convinced of what he’s saying. Yeah, sure, they believe it, but it doesn’t make it right. Now I haven’t been a fan of Obama throughout this entire thing, but at least he isn’t on a mission to convert the world to some personal, skewed version of Christianity.

What are you people thinking? Seriously. We’re talkin’ getting rid of individual freedom here.

      This. Is. Insane.

    Just not in science class….

    • Hope Floats

Sarah Palin said if students bring it up, they’re welcome to discuss the two side by side. I think it helps if students can ask questions about what they may have already heard. I also think students should take a world religions class and preferably before they study evolution. It is an approach that would emphasize the anthropological contributions to the discussion and expand students’ worldview.

PALIN IS GOING TO FINISH THE FIGHT THAT HILLARY COULD NOT LONGER DO!

Already the sexism has reared its ugly head in the media. We must not let this continue.

The DNC already stole the nomination from Hillary and WE KNOW THIS.

But isn’t it just like God to TURN THE TABLES and I am convinced McCain & Palin will win the white house as a result of #1 Obama the Prima Donna (that’s Italian for “first lady) not only is worshipped as God and the Messiah, BUT HE ALLOWS AND ENJOYS IT. And #2 because Obama didn’t even bother to vet Hillary as VP…hmnnn…he chose Biden? Biden, who got only 9,000 votes in the entire USA, when Hillary WON THE POPULAR VOTE? I can see that Michelle Obama, a woman of the past sufferage, so jealous of Hillary threatened to walk “if that woman is in the white house.”

    McCain/Palin now at 47%

Obama’s support among Democrats remains at 86%
McCain’s support among Republicans increases to 92%.

WHY I CANNOT VOTE FOR McCAIN/PALIN TICKET

I am 68 years old. Vietnam Vet with 100% disability. I bleed for Old Glory and did my duty for my country, and always put the interest of my country before my particular interest.

I am also a democrat and have been one all my life, though i voted for the republican once, for Ronald Reagan in the 1980 presidential elections. I cannot lie and say i life the republicans. In fact, i hate the republicans. The only two people i hate more than the republicans are pedophiles and terrorist (used to hate the commies before they kicked the bucket).

The first reason for not supporting McCain/Palin ticket is that i believe that McCain suffers from PTSD and he is dangerously unstable. You just have to look at the guy’s reaction when he is asked tough questions or is challenged by a journalist. He clinches his jaws, his face gets red and the tone of his voice changes. I had suffered from PTSD in the past and i know that it is something that you can get rid of that easily. However, i was willing to overlook that fact, though it is an important factor that it might have weighed on my final decision.

The second reason that i cannot overlook or rationalized or explain away is his vice-president pick, Sarah Palin, and her extreme views on abortion. I am an Irish Catholic and i believe that abortion is a sin and that life begins at conception. However, i have never let my views on abortion or my pro-life stance influence my vote in the past as i believe that is is a personal belief and everyone should be entitled that his or her personal beliefs. Abortion is not a litmus test for me.

However, i recently learned and read in several respectable newspapers (New York Times, Washington Post, and the WSJ) that Sarah Palin opposes abortion even for victims of rape and incest. Why is that important to me? And why is that something i cannot overlook? 22 years ago my wife, who at that time ws conceptual engineer for Kellogg Brown & Root, was beaten and raped in a parking lot in Seattle. As a consequence of that rape, she got pregnant. We both made the decision to abort that fetus as allowed by state and federal laws. Because of that rape, my wife suffered from a severe depression. She unsuccessfully attempted to take her life twice, thank god for that. Until today, she still bears the scars of that horrific night. Needless to say that the police never caught the rapist who destroyed my wife’s life forever.

Now, imagine if abortion for rape victims was illegal. It would have meant that my wife would have been forced to carry that fetus to term. It would have meant that she would have suffered 9 months of the most horrible torture that one can inflict on a human being. It would have meant that for 9 months every time she would have looked at herself, she would have relived that rape over and over and over and over. This is what Sarah Palin opposition to allow abortion to rape and incest victims means. How can we ask someone to endure more suffering on top of suffering for 9 months? How can someone be this insensitive to this suffering? Where is Sarah Palin compassion? If she does not feel compassion and cannot relate as a woman to another woman who has been violated to her corp, how can she relate or show compassion for anything or anybody else? I repeat, i am a Catholic and I am a pro-lifer, but i cannot ban abortion for those victims because i am Catholic and because i am a pro-lifer.

What Sarah Palin is asking Christians to do by supporting her extreme and radical views on abortion is beyond Christianity. My Lord Jesus Christ is a loving and compassionate God. He died for my sins and he would have understood the dilemma and suffering of my wife. Sarah Palin’s views on abortion are not born out of an understanding of Christianity, they are born out of a dangerous and radical reading of the Gospel. Someone who does not value compassion and spread it among God’s children cannot be trusted to understand the complexity of the world we live in.

Sarah Palin is disqualified from being vice-president not because of her experience, but because she has no compassion for the least powerful amongst us–i.e. victims of crimes.

I supported Senator Clinton because she was a real Democrat. She has that fire in the belly; she had compassion and an understanding of the complex world surrounding us. She was the most qualified, but she is no longer in the race. I believe she made peace with herself and i will support when she decide to run again.

Yes, i am a democrats and yes i think that McCain is a bit unfit to discharge the duty of the office of president because of his PTSD. However, he could have gotten my vote if he had chosen someone with less extreme and dangerous stance on issue of compassion.

I urge you folks to consider what you are going to do. You are going to vote for someone and maybe elect her vice-president, one step away from the Oval Office, who has no compassion whatsoever. If she does not understand rape and incest victims, i am afraid that she does not understand the complex world we live in.

      No.

You will not come in here and attempt to tug at our heartstrings while announcing, for absolutely no reason, that you “hate” Republicans.

You will not use inflammatory terms like rape while supporting a candidate who cannot so much as protect a fully formed baby whose murder was attempted through abortion; I’m referring to Mr Obama and his stand on BAIPA.

Your hatred– your admitted hatred– is profoundly sick, and morally wrong, and you need to come to grips with this and acknowledge it.

      • no vote for Oblabla

JohninCA and Mr.X don’t sweat this hateful post. I saw this exact same post elsewhere on another blog. I can’t remember exactly where it was that I read it but I sure do wish I’d kept the URL. If I can find it in my browser history I’ll be sure to post a link to it.

I’m sure this person is going around posting this at PUMA sites just to get a rise out of us. Ignore ‘it’ and hopefully it’ll go away.

        • CHRIS

So you guys are a bunch of republican disguised as democrats. All these months i have been coming here and talking with you and ranting against Obama while you all are a bunch of stinky republicans.

Yes, i hate republicans. In my list of hate, i hate pedophiles, then terrorists (all terrorists except Irish ones) and then republicans. Coward Republicans.

          • WildChild

ok, you’re a hater. We get it.

          • JohninCA

I don’t understand why you hate Republicans.

If I were one, I would not “hate” Democrats. I don’t hate Obama; in fact, I started out liking him. Apart from disagreements about the issues, my first disappointment with him came when I learned that he threw other Democrats off the ballot, in 1996.

Chris — go get help. Get some therapy — now — do it now.

You need help — you have a real problem.

Don’t use this blog as your therapist.

        • CHRIS

I defy you to find this post posted somewhere else. i defy you. Find it and post the damn link. I defy you.

You have nothing to say about my post except that you saw it somewhere else and that tells me all i need to know. I posted something extremely personal to me and you reply with such a cavalier post.

I am talking about Palin having no business being in the White House. That’s what i am talking about. And it is not because of experience. I don’t care about her experience since she is a VP and she has time to learn on the job actually. But what i care about is that her view on abortion is very unlikely to change with time. I cannot support someone who has no compassion AT ALL for victims of rape and incest. I don’t wish for you to experience what my wife and I have experienced, but you will change your mind very very quickly if you ever do.

How can i go from Hillary to Palin for god’s sake? It is like one day i am eating ice-cream and then turn around and start shoving crap into my mouth. That’s what Palin is to Hillary, crap and Ice cream.

If this is your stance, that you are willing to vote for anyone but Obama even for Palin, that’s your business. But just know, that Palin is no Hillary folks and please leave Hillary alone because you are soiling her with your absurd position.

I really really begin thinking that you have ulterior motives for opposing him other than that he was an ass during the primaries.

          • KC

The VP has NO power to make any change on the Supreme Court. If Obama loses, we can make this a central issue in the race between Sarah Palin and HIllary Clinton in 2012. We WILL have a woman president in four years IF Obama loses.

          • jangles

            Palin on abortion:

            If Roe/Wade were overturned.

Alaska Governor has no power to decide anything.
State would need to consider the issue and decide what they want to do regarding the right to an abortion.

            Palin on gay rights:

vetoed legislation that would have DENIED Alaska state employees who have a gay/lesbian partner to have access to same benefits as a married couple

      • CHRIS

Rape is not an inflammatory term, you idiot. It happens on a daily, hourly basis.

Moreover, i have been here posting and commenting since December. No one opposed or called me any names before. I wonder why?????

I shared a personal story because i thought it might help put things into perspective, but i see that i was mistaken.

Yes, i goddamn hate the republicans. Hated them since 1960s. Since forever. I am 68 years old and my father hated the republicans, i hate the republicans, my son hate the republicans. What else you want to know. Oh yes, i grew up with Jesus, Franklin portraits on our fire place. in 1960, my dad added Jack. That is if you didn’t get it, FDR, Jack Kennedy and Jesus Christ. That tells you our home was “Republicans NOT welcome” place.

So, you like the republicans. I thought you were democrats folks. I am rich and i can’t stand chickenhawk republicans. The most coward people in the US are the republicans.

And for someone who really does not like hate, all we have been doing for the last 8 months is hating Obama for god’s sake. Please stop, your hypocrisy is killing me.

        • Ferdberfle

And for someone who really does not like hate, all we have been doing for the last 8 months is hating Obama for god’s sake. Please stop, your hypocrisy is killing me.

Listen four flusher, for the last time, no one here hates Oblahblah. We think he is unfit and unqualified for office.

We reserve our dislike for obamabots like you who add no light but a lot of heat to a conversation.

Come back and post when you actually have something approaching substance to add to the blog.

    • Mr. X

All you talk about is hate. Don’t you have anything else? Do you have any reason to vote FOR someone instead of against someone?

Kerry lost because he thought hating Republicans was enough. Well, the Dems hated on their own and now they’re gone. You’re not gonna get them back with more hate.

    • Hope Floats

I am an Irish Catholic and i believe that abortion is a sin and that life begins at conception. However…

WRONG ANSWER, SIR. The Pope has no tolerance for the so-called Cafeteria Catholics. You might rationalize your political views, but bear in mind the separation of church and state. Period.

There is no moral equivalency on abortion according to the Catholic church. You should stop calling yourself a Catholic and bringing up your pro-life values.

If you believe life begins at conception, you believe abortion is murder. You’re rationalizing your worship at the clay feet of a false idol named Barack Hussein Obama II.

      • CHRIS

The day your mother or your sister or your wife or your daughter gets raped and then pregnant as a consequences, you tell me if you still believe that abortion is banned for rape victims.

One more thing, let us not forget incest. The day your father violates your sister or your daughter and then gets her pregnant, you tell me if you still believe in the absolute banning of abortion.

Only idiots believe in the absolute. I am a Catholic and i am not an idiot.

  • marie3548
  • hootnannie

Nothing scares left-wing loonidom more than someone who stands on religious principles. Look, if a person believes that abortion is murder, he/she cannot countenance it just because the pregnancy came about by rape or incest, anymore than infanticide committed for the same reasons. Obama is the one who has carried the abortion controversy to extreme limits, arguing that a woman’s right is burdened because a pediatrician would have to be called in if a fetus survived the procedure.

    • JohninCA

I’m beginning to feel like I’ve been raped every time Obama’s supporters open their mouths.

Doesn’t Larry’s support for Palin prove once and for all that the reason he hates Obama is because he’s obviously (wait for it.. this will be funny) a racist republican. Think about it. He goes on and on about experience but apologizes for Palin’s experience. He goes on about corruption and Obama but apologizes for Palin’s run with that state trooper. Obama is far from the best choice but Palin (McCain won’t last 4 years)? Come on now, stop being so obvious.

And for the record I’m not muslim, black, democrat, republican, independant or even US citizen. Just

    • KC

Did you bother to read Larry’s blog, obot? He makes it very clear that while Obama talks the talk, it is Palin, and not Obama, who walks the walk. Larry writes:

“These incidents, taken together, tell us something very important about this woman–she talks the talk and walks the walk. She does not ask other people to do what she will not do herself. I challenge anyone to cite just one anecdote about Barack Obama that exhibits this kind of character and courage. Just one.”

Since you can’t come up with one, you do what obots do – you smear and attack people with the race card.

      • http://! Clinton Fan

Also, the nitwit doesn’t seem to understand that the complaint might hold more water if OBAMA were RUNNING AS VP, not President.

It’s generally expected that the VP has less clout, less of a footprint than the Prez candidate. Except, of course, when you’re trying to patch a few holes in your own resume…

I for one will throw all my support to save my country!!

  • We Will Remember in November!

Most Hillary women supporters (over 40) the ones Obama needs to win faced with the decision to have a down syndrome baby or have an abortion would most likely have the baby. Palin with that same choice choose to have her son. On the issue of abortion it will not matter to Hillary supporters because Palin made the same decision as most hillary supporters would or have had too. Palin is the real deal.

“This is the kind of person we want and need in public office. Hell, I want her as President. McCain can learn a thing or two from her.”

Thank you Larry Johnson, for seeing Palin for what she really is. I’ve spent a lot of time in Alaska, I have family members who have met her. She is exactly what this country needs.

    • yttik

Seriously, Larry Johnson, that one simple sentance acknowledging that the Palin has some value means a lot to me, especially after months of being treated by the Democrats as if women were something to brush off your shoulder or scrape off your shoe.

    • voter2008

She is exactly what this country needs.

I laugh that the Obamedia thinks this is a scandal. So she dismissed her Police Chief. Governors, Mayors and Presidents dismiss their appointees all the time. They serve at the pleasure of the executive. They can dismiss them for anything at anytime. Even if she did dismiss him for not doing anything about Wooten, there is good reason for him to be fired…Using a taser on a child, threatening the Palin family, drinking while operating a police vehicle.
This would not be news if she were a male Governor.

  • KC

Looking over the comments, it is now clear – Larry Johnson hits a home run!

    He writes:

“These incidents, taken together, tell us something very important about this woman–she talks the talk and walks the walk. She does not ask other people to do what she will not do herself. I challenge anyone to cite just one anecdote about Barack Obama that exhibits this kind of character and courage. Just one.”

And not ONE obot can come up with ONE example. The perfect failure of Obama supporters. How pathetic is that?

Awww, you’re being unfair to Obama. He criticized Americans for not speaking foreign languages, remember?

And he knows how to say “Cheater” in Indonesian!

I’m leaning toward the McCain ticket.

He made a bold move, and I like that.
I like that he selected a woman as running mate.

I do not share her values, but the alternative is an inexperienced, mediocre sell-out, liar.

Obama does not have the balls to do anything except follow the money and status quo.

And Biden is a whiney windbag.

I am now seriously considering the Republican ticket.

    • John House

Do it! It feels much better than selling your soul to the Britney Spears of politics.

  • LindaA1

I just listened to that blowhard John Kerry say “How stupid do you think they are” when asked on ABC if Hillary supporter women would support Sarah Palin.

Excuse me? I tell you when I was stupid – when I cast my vote for you in 2004, Senator Kerry.

Now I am not stupid. Now I will vote for Sarah Palin and John McCain. I do not share most of their positions of things, but they both are people of principle and have the bad political habit of telling us like it is.

Sure, they are politicians meaning they are going to compromise here and there, but it’s a compromise of the last resort and only in extreme circumstances. Obama never compromises his principles – because he doesn’t have any that I’ve seen, at least he doesn’t have any worth standing by.

Why is everybody so instantly taken by Palin? – because we see in her someone we can trust. We can argue with her about her positions, but we feel we can trust her. In this current world of politics, real trust is a commodity so rare that we run toward it when we see it. She might be conservative to the nines, but at least we know where we are with her.

Besides, there will be that pesky Democratic Majority in Congress to hold Sarah and John in check when it comes to the biggies like a conservative on the supreme court and funding wars.

I like Palin because she doesn’t take any shit. I admit, the fact that she’s a woman does give me some validation too. I am sick and tired of the shitty way women are treated. But Palin doesn’t like government waste either. She gave those oil companies a big fat tax increase and then gave it back to Alaskans in a $1200 rebate.

  • Sassy

    Good work, Larry!
I fully expect to see as much negativity as possible from the media…many of them looked “ashen” on the day of McCain’s choice!
Secondly, McCain is as likely to fall in his grave at any moment AS ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING…none of us know the length of our days!
Thirdly, you KNOW an articulate, talented, intelligent WOMAN has to be put in her place!!!!
    Go McCain/Palin!!!! DAMN the dems!!!!

  • Dave

Palin has more conviction and morals in her little finger, than Obama or Biden. The Democrats promised change two years ago when they became the majority, what did we get $4.00 gas. Worst congress in the history of the United States..

  • peep

And they should be, but here is the problem it’s too late McCain nominating a strong women Gov Palin who is a breath of fresh air really one of the People absolutely a real outsider a non Ivy elitist, makes Biden Obama look old and cruddy has beens. And everyone I spoke to with one exception, that had been on the after Senator Clinton’s speech flip are now solid for McCain Palin, watch undecided will show the decision is over. Now intelligent design being taught in public schools is just dumb and rhetoric about choice is also just dumb it is a non issue even if the goofs in Congress attempt to regulate our reproductive rights we would march on Washington in mass. But more importantly Obama support of FISA and Cheney’s Energy bill with big oil tax rebates on my dime is even DUMBER. I thank the Democratic for their behavior during the Primary they have done more for the women’s movement and women’s rights than any thing happening since we got the vote and Palin would not be on McCain’s ticket had it not been for their misogynistic behaviors so again THANKS.. It also exposed NOW and NARAL as one issue Party Lackeys who with few exception towed the party line through silence and I am most grateful because it awoke powerful strong women not paying attention like myself who had no clue of the hatred of women and what lurked inside the identity games of the Party and amazingly the lack of diversity at the DNC.

McCain 08 now 100 percent positive

    • lansing quaker

      peep:

Add the Human Rights Campaign with NOW and NARAL. HRC dumped Hillary and supported Obama, who wouldn’t even march in Chicago Gay Pride this year.

Palin actually, you know, signed same-sex benefits into law.

Obama “talks” about how important Gay Rights are.

And the HRC? They smear Palin based on no evidence other than her saying she’s against same-sex marriage. Which EVERY Democrat I’ve ever voted for has said.

I’m sick of this charge of “Party! PARTY!!!!!” and not principle.

The fact anyone — like DKos and DU — would charge that Palin’s baby is NOT HER OWN speaks volumes.

Screw the DNC. My vote is for McCain-Palin.

      • Freebird76

You know this whole experience with Oblahma and the DNC has changed my political views in such a dramatic way.

The Republicans are acting with more class than the Democrats. Not only that darn it, but they are outsmarting them in leaps.

Palin was a choice to combat Hillary were she the nominee. It would not have worked against Hillary but it would have been a very nice try. But it became even better when Ojerkoff became the nominee.

It has changed everything. Palin makes Obama seem boring and mechanical by comparison.

As for Intelligent Design, what the hell do I know?

What I do know is that science is a good GUESS.

What I do know is that there is no way I believe we evolved from Apes.

What I do know is that science “assumes” what it cannot prove.

So why should I deny my children alternative theories? Personally I think creationism is just as unprovable as science as it also “assumes” what it cannot prove.

Maybe what we should have is a class in theology to go along with that class in science.

But the bottom line is that we Americans get the right to choose whatever we wish to believe.

  • Elizabeth

If she indeed attended an energy conference in TX on Apr 18 as reported, felt her water break at 4am, stayed to give the keynote address at the luncheon, and flew home on Alaska Airlines without notifiying the airline of her condition, counter to most hospital policies against flying in the last trimester, not to mention strongly increasing the infection risk that could have led to the child’s death, I am concerned that Palin had a choice and made an extremely irresponsible one.

Passing up some of the finest children’s hospitals in Dallas, Seattle and Anchorage, flying hours and then driving 50 miles to her home town to have her child is close to downright unbelievable, if not reckless in the extreme to the health of any newborn, never mind a special needs child and not to mention fellow passangers on that flight…

    • Hope Floats

She’s had four children and knows what labor feels like. The baby was fine, and her other children are gorgeous. Sarah and Todd are excellent parents.

    • http://! Freebird76

      You won’t believe it!

But some women? They give birth in rice fields! Did you know that in the past a woman would give birth and often keep working?

By the way, most of us could not afford any of those fancy hospitals you mention. Most of us are lucky if we don’t get billed extra when in an emergency someone other than your assigned hospital/doctors/anesthesiologist … etc., etc., etc… perform emergency procedures.

Honestly, stop speaking of women as if they are to be held above such a high standard that they can never be seen as capable as any man.

Hell I can’t stop being totaly fucking impressed she did all that on a “squirrel bladder.” (Any woman who’s ever given birth knows what that means.)

“I’ll take brass balls for $1,000 Alex!”

I can just see how well it would have gone over with a woman who had to be at the best hospital on bed rest two weeks before birth, with the Alaska staff providing all sorts of special accommodation on our dime.

Our country is changing right before our eyes. Not because of Oblahma. Because we are in the throes still of the communication revolution which has dramatically and drastically changed commerce globably. The birth of the Euro was no accident. Hussein threatening to deal strictly in Euros in the future made the war in Iraq, no accident. The housing crisis brought upon by a government turning their heads the other way while the biggest American scam was swindling Americans, AKA “the Housing Crunch,” was no accident. The bail out to Freddie and Fanny, no accident. The inflated gas prices? Give me a break! NO ACCIDENT!

Haven’t you heard? We are killing in export baby! We are going to have a huge turn around. Because that is how the big cats make money and have for all of human history.

Create a fake crisis. Provide a fake solution. Make money until too many people get on the Greed Wagon. Create a fake crisis. Provide a fake solution. Make money …

Oblahma is utilizing part one of this charming cycle. Create a fake crisis. “We must change!”

      …::yawn::..

Back to Hillary’s replacement Sarah Palin…

Maybe, gosh, just maybe the lady felt a responsibility to her post and accountable to us? How positively refreshing and out of fashion.

I’m beginning to see Barry’s way. This is the kind of change I can believe in. And it convinces me further just how wrong Barry is for this time in our history.

The contrast is what is most striking and what the Democrats are freaking out about. They really underestimated McCain. Which DOES INDEED SAY alot about someone’s CHARACTER and ability to think strategically.

Barry gets an “F” in strategic thinking in my class.

But then again, who is the heralding that ship? Pelosi, Reed, Kennedy, Biden. That’s not change! That’s more of the SAME!

      bahahahahahahahah

      • http://! Freebird76

Okay so I feel sorry for the Dems.

It appears that they believe their past losses was do to not being like the Republicans.

So they put on the glitz and pomposity. My God! I thought you guys were kidding when you said there would be fireworks!

The convention often looked “gimmekie” instead of authentic. It looked very Bush candidacy circa 2000. When a crowd spontaneously responds, it doesn’t matter if it in a ten room dining hall or a 80 thousand arena.

But what I saw looked like a show production where the audience is given props and there is a “ringer” up front directing responses.

The Republicans, AKA Rove, know that they rode that phony pony to exhaustion and jumped.

Now they are going to be the ones coming across as sincere and fresh.

It works. Human beings in mass can be led like pigs to slaughter.

Do you have any doubt that some of those people at Barak’s functions would jump right off the cliff if he told them to?

Who would have thunk we would need Rove?

        Bahahahahahahaha

That bastard — God gives and he takes away. He may look like one of the original Three Little Pigs but he thinks like Alexander the Great.

I would have kicked my own ass for having said so just two years ago.

        hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa!

I love it! Hey… did you guys enjoy the talking heads turning like LInda Blair looking for info on Sarah when announced?

        Baaaaawaaaaahahahahahahahahahah

I loved it! And for this, we should thank Rove. For once the media got snookered!

Now please can we get that man to prison before he works against us again?

    • Elizabeth BHOTroll

      Elizabeth hon,

go play in Obama traffic dear…don’t forget your milk and cookies and Plato’s Dialogues would be nice, too for good measure in case you’d have to converse with anyone outside the Obummer camp..

  • Kal

I have to say that I have not seen this much bot panic on this site ever.

You guys are really scared, eh? Realizing that women and people with integrity are not going to stand for this nonsense any more?

    PUMA!!

  • SJ

Site like the democratic underground should be closed down, its disgusting what they are saying about Palin and her baby, they did the same thing when Hillary was running against Obama now they are at it again.

I swear that site must be visited by brain dead teens that have nothing to do and have no idea about politics, but some of the post on there are slanderous and I really cant understand how the managers of that site allow crap like that to be posted.

Thank god there are site like NQ that good sense still prevail.

Obama will win in November, mark my word!

    • Steven Mather

I do not need to mark you. It would be redundant. Your 666 does the job admirably well.

  • John Crosby

Right on Nevile, I agree with you 100 per cent. The Republicans and everything they stand for are utterly corrupt and evil. They are a bunch of dumb asses too, with their brilliant leader, George Bush, who cannot utter an intelligible English phrase without murdering the language.

  • another dem bites the dust

Right. So why is the Bush impeachment now “off the table”? Thanks Nancy, for covering for your buddy Dubya.
Looks like Pelosi, Reid and now Obama don’t have the guts to call them on their crimes?

  • TruthWillPrevail

Bush is NOT running for the Presidency…. So, how many languages do you speak? Only one? Obummer would
    be very embarressed by you!

I was so put-off, when he went to Germany… And needed an interpreter….. The bigot!

Without a teleprompter, Obambi sounds pretty much like GeeDubya Bush… And, Biden is a slushy Lush..

    Whatta Team!

  • http://! Freebird76

You know I gave Pelosi the benefit of the doubt. But after a while, it was obvious she was playing politics and not really working the system for the People as she was elected to do.

Now she just looks like one more vacuous Senator with a hidden agenda. I don’t know who is in charge of this shipwreck but it sure is looking more and more like Gilligan and the Professor at it again with another one of their foolish schemes.

And I feel very much adrift between two parties with no viable third party in sight.

Once again, we are left with bad or worse as choices for POTUS.

Palin is someone who wants creationism taught in schools and is so against choice she is not only anti-abortion but also anti-contraception (i.e. IUD, pill, etc.)

Obama is a delusional ve won the Election megalomaniac with arrogance to spare and misogyny to lend!

JFK had the guts and political instinct to know that he needed his arch-foe Lyndon B. Johnson the souterner he detested and so appointed him his Vice President and unified the party at a critical time. For swallowing his pride, arrogance, and for placing country above Ego, JFK won in 1960.

BHO has no guts, zilch political instincts, is toally inept and his anorexic resume does not afford Him the gravitas to realize, the stutteringly dumb fool he is, that he could have won the Election if he placed HIllary as his Vice President.

So, Sweetie, you’ll have to “get over it” in November, baby!

  • Kate

I’ll correct my previous statement, supposedly Palin is pro-contraception. However, she is anti-choice, for creationism being taught in schools, oil drilling all over Alaska (and off shore), and taking polar bears off the endangered species list.

Just because, in other words, she is a woman does not mean she is really a feminist and truly supports women’s rights. I’ve seen plenty of faux feminists on the right over the years. She is one of those — sort of an “uncle Tom” woman-style.

As far as executive experience goes, shrug, she may actually have a tad more than Obama. Which isn’t saying much. :-)

  • prue

Now keep in mind that McCain has a foot in the grave, and that Palin will be president when he kicks the bucket – if he’s elected.

Women, don’t vote for McCain/Palin just because Palin is a woman. She is unqualified, and every bit as much of a BSer as the rest of them. She’s not smart enough or experienced enough to put us in a good situation. Her ultra right-wing agenda is outdated, and she comes from a small-town mentality where she can’t see the forest for the trees. She wants to turn this country into a huge sunday school gathering where you have no rights as an individual as she pushes her religious based agenda onto everyone. She wants to overturn roe vs. wade – and even for those of you who don’t agree with abortion, surely you are still rational enough to see that it isn’t right to order every woman in the country to change her opinion on the matter. The individual’s rights must not be taken away.

    That isn’t freedom.

She is obviously trying to push a “christian” agenda – which of course comes from her own personal brand of “christianity” as she interprets it. Not even all christians can agree on everything, and furthermore, we have a country full of people of various religions who shouldn’t have their rights taken away by an emotionally driven tyrant.

We need someone who is more rational-minded as a leader, rather than someone who will let their own personal beliefs rule the country.

Palin was governor of a small town where it was less of an issue to push a religious agenda, but now we’re talkin’ the entire united states. All of us, under the leadership of someone who has outdated ideals, and strives to set us back in our intellectual evolution.

We have all had our suspicions that McCain isn’t as mentally sound now that he is in his 70s – and this is proof. What a reckless move, choosing someone so unqualified, knowing that he could die any day leaving her in charge.

I know what everyone’s issues with Obama are, but it always comes down to choosing the lesser of evils in our system – and now I daresay: Vote “Not Palin”.

    Vote for individual rights.

    Individual freedom.

    Sarah Palin was GREAT!!!

You had to love it when she put NObama in his place. These were my favorites:

“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.”

    and

“The American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of ‘personal discovery.’ This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn’t just need an organizer,”

And for Kevin and David don’t worry. She has promised to be an advocate in the White House for families with special needs kids so the opportunity for the two of you to get those much needed classes in reading and writing will present itself when McCain and Palin win in November.

  • Barry DeWalt

“Unlike George Bush, who sought out a war but kept his daughters at home”

Chris, my sympathies to your wife and to you for the beating and the rape. I was raped as a young woman. On another occasion, I was punched in the face. I can’t imagine the two incidents happening at once, and I agree wholeheartedly, rape victims should have choice. I don’t think Sara Palin would force her opinion on us. I don’t think she could. She may choose to carry a child to term that was the result of a rape. That would be her choice. Also, Chris, I think it is okay to make fun or critize Obama without being racist. I am not racist. I think he has a personality disorder that makes him incapable of caring for anyone but himself and his wants. He is half white.
