Transcendence and the Inconvenience of Principles

They say you will never know what your principles are until they become inconvenient to you.

Well, my principles have officially become inconvenient. Still, I find that I just cannot stand in lock step with a Party I consider to be hopelessly corrupt: a Party that conducted a phony roll call and cut the best candidate off at the knees in order to push their puppet king. The Democratic Party is broken and not even Hillary can put Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

Hillary Clinton gave an eloquent, passionate speech at the Convention Tuesday night. She was on her game, in command, and so committed to the goals and values she campaigned on that she emerged as the most exciting person at the Convention by far. Transcendent is the appropriate word.

All the endless media bashing and back stabbing by the losers’ club in her Party seemed to have no effect. She has emerged an icon, bigger and better than all of them. Someone the DNC wrongly pegged as a woman to be reviled has become an admired, even beloved figure; perhaps a martyr to their corrupt cause of nominating an empty suit.

How frustrating for the blogger boyz, media dogs like Keith Olbermann, and the heavy hitting DNC thug squad comprised of Dean, Pelosi, Kerry and Brazile, to name a few, that they couldn’t keep her down. She looked radiant, composed and in charge. That must have really frosted their bananas.

‘We all know what happened here,’ she seemed to say, ‘but I am going to do my job tonight.’ And she did. Extremely well. But in so doing, she only made the travesty of this nomination more evident. As Anglachel brilliantly pointed out in her analysis of Hillary’s speech, she now owes the party nothing.

So Hillary transcended. What about the rest of us?

My principles prevent me from voting for this man. He is unqualified and a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Based on his past voting record, his behavior, his actions and those of his campaign, I do not trust anything that comes out of his mouth.

Do you know how I know he’s lying? His lips are moving.

Remember FISA, Senator Obama? He may pay lip service to the policies Hillary campaigned on – but I do not trust my future to him. And I will not reward the DNC’s behavior. Perhaps the nominating process was always this rigged. It just went on too long this time so we actually got to peer behind the green curtain and see the wizard.

This fixed process is the reason we always wind up voting for the lesser of two evils, never really excited about a candidate. I think voters are so beaten down by years of this, they are used to voting in lock step with their Party, shrugging: ‘Well, that’s they way it is. Where else are you gonna go?’ That’s exactly what David Axelrod and Co. count on. Sorry. No dice.

In the middle of a haircut the other day, the stylist innocently asked my thoughts on the Democratic Convention. She is a kind young woman and we have never discussed politics. I nearly exploded that Obama is useless and this whole Convention was a sham. She, you see, is ready to ‘shrug’ at the voting booth, as we all usually do and I’m sure she was mortified to find that I will not vote for Obama, though I’ve been a solid Democrat all my life.

I am equally sure there are those who feel exactly as I do – many more than the arrogant pundit class, the DNC or Senator Obama would care to admit.

What to do about my inconvenient principles? Should I just stay silent these next two months? Should I hope that people will do their own due diligence? The same due diligence that millions have not bothered to do up to this point? The same due diligence that the mainstream media will not help them do because the pablum we are fed is, indeed, a fairy tale? The media narrative about Obama’s ‘historic’ candidacy seems to take complete precedence over whether he is qualified or honest enough to lead.

And for the hundredth time, this is no longer about Hillary.

The only reason I hung with this Democratic Party of losers for 30 years was because I was confident they occupied the moral high ground. Why did they keep nominating losers; elitists that could not speak to Middle America – do Democrats think these people are unworthy of inclusion? Surely, that can’t be true. Bill and Hillary spoke to them. The DNC didn’t like that.

Lately, the DNC is all for show. Just pretend you’re pushing to pass legislation to help those in need. ‘Oh, but we don’t have a majority so we can’t do it.’ ‘Oh, but we don’t have a big enough majority so we can’t do it.’ ‘Well, we tried.’ Well, that’s a crock of crap. Hillary worked to pass SCHIP and got insurance for 6 million kids who didn’t have any. She worked with none other than Newt Gingrich.

If you really want to push legislation through – make your case to the American people. Create pressure. Get off your ass, Congress! How’s that for an idea?

How much do those cushy Dems really want change? Senator Obama certainly doesn’t. His actions completely belie all of his campaign promises. And he chose a good ole’ boy from the old guard: a Senator of 36 years; a sexist himself; his own son a lobbyist.

Remember when Pelosi, our newly minted Speaker of the House, said “impeachment is off the table”? Uh huh. Now I think I’ve got it.

With some very honorable exceptions, there are many in the party just playing kick the can and making a big dumb-show to no avail. You’ll pardon me if I don’t trust the likes of Dodd, Kerry, Pelosi, Richardson et al to push the candidate really capable of CHANGE.

Principles. They sure are inconvenient. But when is it a good time to stand up for what you believe in? I want my country back. I don’t want to be choked by an unscrupulous media telling me who my President should be. People are losing their homes. Our economy is in the toilet. We are in a mess abroad. Senator Obama just spent Six Million Dollars for a faux Grecian temple and he’s talking about reform? Bullshit.

I thought my party was the ‘better’ one but now that McCain named Sarah Palin as his VP, the sexist attacks have already begun. I thought Democrats supported equal rights for women? Guess I was wrong about that, too.

Sarah Palin is the Governor of the State of Alaska. She also commands the National Guard there: a very crucial task because of Alaska’s location. Some of the sexists might want to look at a map.

This woman has more governing and executive experience in her little finger than Obama has in his whole body and she is running to be #2 on the ticket, not #1. And his campaign is talking about her lack of experience?

She may not be Hillary Clinton, but this woman will make Obama look pale. Trust me, it’s not that hard. I can smell that Governor Palin has more grit than the phony teleprompter-addicted Obama from a mile away.

Pundits on networks and the Obamarama blogosphere are insulting her, calling her a cheerleader and a joke. How about doing a little research before you defecate on yet another woman? They are also saying disgusting and cruel things about her child with Down Syndrome – and these filthy people dare to call themselves Democrats? Not a smart campaign strategy in my view. Might piss me off even more. Principles, remember?

Hillary can sit back ruefully and note that at least she won’t be the only one to suffer the outrageous onslaught that is surely coming.

But this time, we’ll be ready.

As to my principles, no, I will not keep silent, even if it is inconvenient.

I know many thoughtful, caring and educated people who have actually lost friends because they are not willing to drink the stuff the DNC is selling. I am not happy that a couple of my friends who are still sipping the “Democrats only” kool-aid think I’m over the top. I understand why. It is entirely too frightening for them to conceive of the fact that they cannot trust the only group they’ve ever trusted. Nobody likes their world turned upside down. First of all, it’s too much work to fix it.

Perhaps if I got my ‘news’ from the Obama pillow-fluff and leg-tingle network, MSNBC, I’d think Obama was great, too. But I don’t, so I don’t.

Hillary’s entire argument, as an eminently capable candidate, was that she just wanted to be judged on the merits. Plenty of people actually did that and voted for her. The big reason she doesn’t have the nomination right now is because of the idiotic DNC riding shotgun for a charlatan.

Competence: what a concept.

Well here’s a good suggestion for everyone regardless of party affiliation or your eventual voting decision in November: do your own due diligence on the candidates. Learn who they really are and what they stand for. Up is down this entire year so assume nothing. Look at what the candidates do and have done, not just what they say. Talk is cheap. Actions speak.

Judge on the merits – not on packaging.

If people had been smart enough to do that, we wouldn’t be stuck with Senator Obama, the American Idol candidate.

And my principles wouldn’t have propelled me to abandon the corrupt Democratic Party.

Wow Ani. That is your best yet. Thank you. I got into an argument with yet another friend today. I have been sharing information with him for months, because he does not do his own “due diligence.” Today, he said he thought the Convention was “great” and said, “Well you have to vote for the Party.” I started to rant, and he said, “Well that’s just crazy.” I am the one who is crazy, because I have actually researched and read voraciously for months and know what I am talking about and refuse to endorse voter suppression, fraud, misogyny, reverse racism, and many other alienating behaviors? The whole world has gone mad. Put on a fake show with fireworks and music, and all is forgiven.

Well, not this voter. I have been talking to a few close friends about my visceral understanding of principles this spring. I understand it in my core now, what that simple word means, and I will not violate it for convenience. Remember the McCarthy years? Many people folded. A few brave souls stood up and said, “No more.”

    No more. NOBAMA!

I was at a big family party last night with many family friends who are liberals, they assume I am voting Obama. I said no. The pressure was on me like I haven’t seen it before.

    Talk about inconvenient principles!

What an absolutely beautiful post. This should be required reading. The misogyny against Palin by the “left” has been beyond the pale.

It is utterly ridiculous, and they are making themselves look like complete fools. What does any of this have to do with leadership or democracy? Another key reason I will not support the hijacking of the Party by this deranged cult behavior: they have become exactly what was despised about the Republican Party. Could they BE anymore like the right wing smear machine? And they justify it as necessary to “save the world?” George Bush & Co. justified their corrupt behavior with the same reasoning and look where that got us. Sarah, like Hillary (whether you agree with her policy positions or not) has integrity and strength resembling Hillary’s. I make a prediction: their viciousness with only highlight Sarah’s superior character and people will grow to admire and love her too. The perfect payback to these petty, small people.

The Republican Party is dead. They proved it when the republican Congress voted with Bush against their better judgment.
The Democratic Party is dead. They proved it when they kicked all the democratic priciples to the curb.

Something has to be done. If we just sit around and always vote for the lesser of to evils, this will never stop. The Roves and Axelrods are running our country.

We need leaders who lead, who pick up the pieces and create something new from the ruins.

McCain is a capable leader to do that. Hillary and Bill Clinton are capable leaders to do that.

I am at loss. I didn’t want the Democratic Party to die. It is close to nothing I can do about it.

  • John Larson

“hopelessly corrupt” – that’s them alright. But they’re also “hopeless and corrupt” – they couldn’t hardly win an election even if there was no opposing candidate.

Ani, great, great post. Thank you. I relate to every experience.

I’m wondering if my old left wing friend, native Alaskan has changed his mind now that Sarah is on the ticket…he hasn’t been speaking to me for a couple of months. Had to clean his clock after he asked me if my decision not to support BO was a throw back to my family roots in the antebellum South…It was so off the wall that I flipped out.

  • RepublicanChick

Ani, I agree with your assessment of the current situation.

Some of the responses from the blogosphere and media aren’t unexpected for Republicans, like myself, because we watched Hillary be treated like crap.

What bothers me is the treatment of Sarah and Hillary by other women.

You don’t have to vote or agree with Sarah, but come on already; it is disheartening to watch women aid and abet those that don’t really want to see women “shatter that glass ceiling”. Hello Andrea Mitchell, Rachel Maddow, Oprah, Mika, and many others. Shame on all of you!

  • John Larson

Obama’s made integrity and corruption the overriding issues. No one could have guessed it but a year ago people happily didn’t know Obama. Now it’s lights out for that …

  • Ani

    fif,

Thanks for your comment. I have taken my own pulse many times on this, because there are times I cannot believe my own vitriol towards my own ex-party. Then I go back and look at the facts again and remember all that has transpired and I am more sure than ever that I am on the right course.

  • OBushMA!

Hillary has shown the Dems the way to victory this whole time. Be kind to the voters and be respectful of your opponents. People will see the good in you. She stuck to her solutions for America, while the press and her opponent attacked her. People will see you have focus and a plan to work for them. BO and his crew have not taken these lessons to heart, they continue on in their smear first, ask questions later mode, knowing the media and the blogs will cover for them. Fooling as many people as they can is their ultimate goal. How the Democratic Party has fallen.

    JUST KEEP THIS IN MIND:

The “majority rule” is often described as a characteristic feature of democracy, but without responsible government it is possible for the rights of a minority to be abused by the “tyranny of the majority”. An essential process in representative democracies are competitive elections, that are fair both substantively and procedurally. Furthermore, freedom of political expression, freedom of speech and freedom of the press are essential so that citizens are informed and able to vote in their personal interests.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lPCunsrI1Q Woman Voter

The worst part is that they committed a personal slander ‘attack’ upon a minor child of a candidate to achieve their goal. Looks like they are looking pretty foolish and in full panic mode.

I am not aligned along policy issues but I think this new misogyny/sexist attacks (like they did on Hillary Clinton) are over the top and not welcomed in any political race.

Candidate’s children should never be trashed and burned like they did with her daughter…it is simply beyond the pale.

Neither party is truly dead. As long as a “scare tactic” can be used to raise millions of dollars, better spent elsewhere, the parties will exist.

We could resolve a lot of issues in America that both sides agree need to be worked on. Instead of giving money to politicians for campaigning, we should put that money in an American fund to be spent on furthering the lives of Americans that need it.

However, they don’t ever ask me.

But that’s the problem: Obama, for all his hypocrisy about “transparency,” is AS controlling of his message and image as Bush ever was. He actually got the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT involved in the Ayers ad running at stations in swing states. Not the FCC or FEC, but the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. Furthermore, there was nothing untrue in the ads! He refuses to release documents, answer reporters questions or give them access etc. It is exactly like Bush. Plus, we don’t have to get into the complete collapse of the Fourth Estate. It is really disturbing to witness what is happening in the name of democracy. And free elections? The delegates were bought and bullied out of representing their own state voters.

  • Fred

Someone just sent me think link and I laughed my ass off:

McCain should just make this a commercial and show it in all the swing states.

I just cannot get past how the Democrats managed to so completely screw up what I had thought was a sure win situation. Their hateful attacks on Hillary are now replaced by attacks on Sarah Palin. I am embarrassed and ashamed now when just a few months ago I was proud of my membership in this party.

Two of my three adult children are very upset with me for saying I will vote for McCain. My daughter was asking why do I say Obama is corrupt. I was telling her that the Obots stole the caucuses. She said what does that mean.

One of my neighbors was hassling me in the apartment complex laundry room because I plan to vote for McCain. This mess makes me want to become a hermit.

Pelosi is corrupt as well. There is no way that impeachment articles could not have been brought against these war criminals with a majority in both Houses — certain Repubs. went hunting for Bill Clinton for eight years and never stopped — what did they finally impeach on — a blow job.

Are you really trying to tell anyone here that the outrage the Democrats (and many good Republicans, by the way) have felt at the behavior of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld would not have warranted us backing them in articles of impeachment.

I have been lurking here for a while and no longer feel so alone in the political world. I am a conservative–just slightly right of center, not one of the ultra right crazies. I used to live in Tom DeLay’s district and learned long before it was common knowledge that DeLay was a creep who did not deserve to be respected or elected. So I refused to vote for him. Needless to say, the reaction of the party first loyalists was very similar to those of the Obamabots towards PUMAs. They were furious.

People seem to forget that we are Americans FIRST and our personal or party ideology comes in a very distant second to our country. It is so disgusting to see pols try to make EVERYTHING political and use it for personal advantage. Both sides have done it and I hate it!

Thanks to all of you PUMAs for standing up for your beliefs and not supporting someone who has proven that he is not worthy of trust. No one knows what issues will be front and center over the next 4 years. IMHO integrity and a core set of beliefs are more important than 12 point plans and promises that can and will be broken.

I must also say that when the primaries began, my initial reaction to Hillary Clinton was negative–left over from the negative end of his presidency. However, as the campaign went on and I saw how well reasoned she was, how she had worked across party lines and how she behaved gracefully in spite of blatant misogyny, I began to pull for her. She certainly is head and shoulders above Obama.

With your permission, I will continue to lurk and learn!

Rita: it’s ok to be selective about sharing your voting preference. Your vote is your own, and it’s nobody else’s business. We don’t have to engage in fights 24/7 to justify our vote. If someone does try to bully you: ask them if they are voting for democratic principles. If they say yes. Then tell them that includes freedom of speech (which includes your vote). Why do these people think a difference of opinion gives them a right to try to bully us into submission.

Re: your kids. You can cut and paste some posts from here or other sites (Riverdaughter is great) to explain your position. Risks Of Reporting Rumor As News About Sarah Palin’s Baby Trig and Daughter Bristol

The risk of reporting rumor as news without doing the proper research and homework for an article, is embarrassment when the facts are eventually revealed. This is evidenced by recent reports about Sarah Palin’s baby, Trig and daughter, Bristol.
Rumor ran rampant about Sarah Palin, her child Trig and her daughter Bristol. The rumors started with a popular liberal website, Daily KoS, and certain media outlets touched on them.

The reports focused on pictures of Republican vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, showing that she didn’t appear to be pregnant, then the story followed with their “proof” that the baby was her daughter’s, Bristol Palin. They “proved” her daughter had missed time at school and then they produced pictures of her daughter which they claimed showed her to be “pregnant.”

Specifically the reports focused on the 17 year olds stomach, with the rumor perpetuated by the Daily KoS website and others that reported on the rumors.

The photo that KoS used and claimed was taken on March 9, 2008, was taken in Wasilla, Alaska in 2006. The photo was taken by Lester, from the Anchorage Daily News. KoS then provided photos from 2008 which showed the same type of belly fat. (Hat Tip To TownHall)

Sarah Palin at home with her family in Wasilla, Alaska in 2006. From left is Piper, 5, husband Todd, Willow, 12, and at right is Bristol, 16. Not pictured is Palin’s son Track, 17. Trig Palin was born in 2008.

Baby Trig Palin, a Downs Syndrome baby, was born on April 18, 2008.

No matter how you do the math, there is no way a girl can be pregnant from 2006 to April of 2008.

Daily KoS and those that reported on the speculated rumor, without doing their homework and just repeating the rumor, all have now maligned a 17 year old girl, her mother who is the vice presidential running mate on the Republican ticket and their whole family.

I hope some sort of legal action can be taken against KoS and anyone else that perpetuated this disgusting rumor, deliberately trying to destroy a young girls life for political reasons.
When are people going to learn that Kossacks enjoy lying to get attention?

  • athy

    Good post Ani.
    Well said.

We have to continue to collect the truth, the facts, and post them (INCLUDING WEBSITE LINKS OR URL ADDRESSES) on blogs-especially blogs that are read by Obama supporters. we must continue to keep each other informed. Many Obama supporters are good people-just GROSSLY misinformed.

Many people do not have access to internet-we need to write letters to the editors of our local newspapers challenging the ‘facts’ as presented by Sen Obama campaign. We need to provide sources for our opinions-even in letters to the editor.

Dispute/challenge everything and back it up with a web link or website address in your letters to the editor.

We do not have much time.

They (Obama campaign) are AGGRESSIVELY going after the college kids and others who may be new to voting and politics- new, inexperienced, naive voters-voters who can easily be convinced to vote for Sen Obama. They are aGGRESSIVELY REGISTERING NEW VOTERS TO TAKE THE PLACE OF OUR VOTES WHICH THEY KNOW THEY HAVE LOST BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS CAMPAIGN TOO CLOSELY…

Watch out for the Reverends (Amy and Jeremiah) because they’ll have you in stitches, but you already know that.

Uppity and Harp have caused me to spill drinks on my keyboard more than once.

If you have a chance, listen to NQ Radio shows when they post them. I absolutely loved Patsy and Sugar’s show last Thursday night.

It is so disgusting to see pols try to make EVERYTHING political and use it for personal advantage. Both sides have done it and I hate it!

The technique is very, very old.

If McCain wins, GE will have MSNBC’s President step down and the new head of that network will clean shop big time.(Mitchell, Mika, Matthews, and Maddow will be gone.)

Oprah’s viewing numbers are going down and her magazine is losing readers. If Obama loses, Oprah will retire early and live at her school in Africa for awhile. Then, after a year or so, she will come out of retirement and speak about her reawakening.

    Vinnie- I agree-
I am going to write on all the blogs that I can get to and will forward the following links disputing the HORRIFIC facts being used in this immoral attack on Gov Palin’s family and personal reputation. This is heinous…
I will forward links so people can learn the truth. This attack by the Obama supporters must be met with QUICKLY…by the presentation of the TRUTH.

We need to expose the Obama campaign’s use of these dirty tactics. We dont have much time…

The daily kos Hate Machine now smears not only Sarah Palin, but her teenage daughter as well. This is despite the fact that on 4/22/2008, in the Anchorage Daily News, the doctor who delivered Sarah’s child, Trig, Dr.Cathy Baldwin-Johnson was quoted as saying:
“Baldwin-Johnson said she had to induce labor, and the baby didn’t come until 6:30 a.m. Friday.”

Terrific article. The only problem is that the people who need to read it only watch TV.

It’s a shame that principles are seemingly a thing of the past. But for this, the fault lies with all of us. Our politicians lie because they know that the majority of Americans don’t pay attention to politics.

We don’t hold them accountable because we’re too busy following the us vs. them mentality and not judging candidates by what they do. After all, it takes a little work to see what someone is up to.

Everyone blamed Ralph Nader for Gore’s loss rather than noticing how few people voted, how incompetently Gore ran his campaign and didn’t even support the Black Caucus call for a recount, or even got upset that the Supreme Court overstepped its bounds by getting involved.

And when Bill and Hillary stand up for Obama, knowing full well how incompetent he is, because “that’s how you play the game” then we get the principles we pay for.

Furthermore, Andrew Sullivan is the same fool who was fawning all over Bush in 2000, then came back in 2004 to say he was wrong for having done that.

This pompous man doesn’t even think to pause a moment before endorsing another incompetent like Obama. Amazing the ego of Sullivan, after making such an egregious mistake, not to even suspect he might be capable of making another one.

The Obama campaign is TOTALLY IGNORING PALIN-CHECK OUT THIS STORY AND WATCH THE NEW AD.

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win…”

I think it was M. Gandhi who said this famous quote

“Obama ad on Palin avoids criticism, her name
Obama’s campaign has begun airing its first ad that includes Palin, but it never criticizes her or even mentions her name.

The 30-second spot, which started airing Saturday on national cable in advance of next week’s GOP convention, keeps up the line of attack ran through the Democratic convention: that a McCain presidency would mean the continuation of the Bush policy approach.

The Obama campaign would not say how extensive the ad buy was.

“Well, he’s made his choice,” the announcer says in “No Change.” “But, for the rest of us, there’s still no change. McCain doesn’t get it, calling this broken economy ‘strong.’ Wants to keep spending $10 billion a month in Iraq. And votes with George Bush 90 percent of the time. Watch the ad see link below…

That’s weird…ever since Palin was chosen that song has been running through my mind. I was humming it on the way home!

  • HARP

Here we go, I`ve been waiting for this. Obama is going to hide behind Hillary`s pantsuit again.

Mrs. Clinton’s advisers said they expected that in light of the Palin selection, she would focus her efforts especially on working women — middle- and working-class, married and single — in swing states where she ran strong, like Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Obama’s advisers sharply disputed the argument that Clinton supporters might be drawn to Ms. Palin on the basis of sex, given that Ms. Palin opposes abortion rights and other commonly held positions for Democrats. But Clinton advisers presented a more nuanced view, saying that some of her supporters — they could not specify how many — could be open to the McCain-Palin ticket depending on how Ms. Palin performed and whether she appeared to be a forceful, sincere advocate for the concerns of working women, their families and for policies that would help them.

“With Palin, there is a core group of Hillary supporters who are not available to this ticket or any Republican,” Ms. Lewis said. “Supreme Court appointments is the bottom line. There is a second group who are now giving McCain-Palin a second look, and it depends on how Palin performs. These voters see Hillary as someone who fought and rose to challenges with persistence, and who spoke in real ways to their lives.

Harp, I agree- Also we need to add one more element for the survival of democracy-
voters need to be educated (about the political process, voting, American history & govt, propaganda techniques etc…) as well as informed by others-ps dont rely too much on the mass media-start reading more independent journalists’ work & publications.

Hillary can hold her own against anyone — she can still push her agenda through. Who knows, Hillary may wind up as Senate Majority Leader between now and 2012 — she has iconic status now. I will never worry that Hillary couldn’t pull this out in the next election. Besides 2012 is promised to no one.

But I do know for a fact that if Obama wins, he will do his best to step on Hillary’s throat and marginalize her in every way. He is totally jealous of her.

The country is better off without this dishonest, unqualified man at the helm, believe me.

  • athy

    Yes Fif I agree-
The delegates were bought & bullied and the caucus system is inept.

If Sen Obama wins, I have no doubt that any changes to the nomination process will be made in such a way to further protect the interests of those in power and to continue to close out the possibility of any third party candidates getting a shot at being allowed to compete in the race.

Great article Ani. I feel the same way. Hillary has become an icon to so many of us (I have to wonder why she is not on the cover of People mag.) It was going to be hard for me to vote for McCain but as a conservative democrat I gave it some serious thought. Then Palin came along. I read about her when she first appeared on the horizon and thought not bad. These past few days I have been reading everything I could about her and have come to LOVE this women. Do not get me wrong she is not Hillary but the Democratic Party took her away from us. While I do not agree with her on a number of issues, she believes in the constitution and is fair minded and intelligent when it comes to policy. I am actually looking forward to her as VP and more so 2012. Imagine a republican and democrat female vying for the President of the United States. Now that will be an election of historic proportions and I am gearing up to be ready when the campaign starts.

I was at McCain’s townhall rally in York, PA two weeks ago and when someone stood up to ask a question and said he was a HRC supporter no one booed. I cheered, there was some applause, but McCain
said thank you for being here and
talked for a few minutes about Hillary being his friend and how she ran a great campaign.

  • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

I can relate to this – people on the left really haven’t done their homework and they won’t even bother to listen to the facts or any real information. Send them a video on caucus fraud and they’ll say a Republican made it up. The denial is astonishing.

  • Pink Panther

Assuming that Palin will likely win in 2012 if McCain wins in 2008 is incorrect. There is a great deal the next President and VP will have to overcome due to the Bush Administration. The economy is a mess, the Middle East is still unsettled and now Russia is becoming more aggressive.

There is absolute certainty that Hillary will not get to run in 2012 if Obama wins in 2008.

In any evert, I can’t think of any better situation to be in than to have two competent women running for President in 2012.

  • Nanny

You know I am not going to vote for Obama. Neither McCain. I am a principled man who believes in principle. I am not a donkey.

What you are simply saying is full of hate with no reason. Let us be focused on principles. I don’t really care about the other Dem people. I am carrying about my issue. You will see from Rep they will trash Hillary by the time 4 or 8 years after you will see they make her like crazy woman

  • JozefAL

Freedom, last time I looked, the Senate had 49 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and 2 Independents (who both caucus with the Dems) and the House had 235 Democrats and 199 Republicans (with 1 vacancy following Stephanie Tubbs Jones’ death). This means there is no “Republican Congress”–it’s a Democratic Congress.
Now, the problem was that Pelosi’s “impeachment’s off the table” was a purely political ploy to help Democrats win back the Congress and she knew that the spectre of impeachment would actually energize the GOP base to assure continued control. She could have proven to be a true politician and initiated impeachment proceedings on January 3, 2007. (A politician going back on his/her promises? How unexpected.) While the Senate is responsible for actually trying an impeachment case, Pelosi could have scored a “moral victory” by bringing the proceedings even though she likely knew the Senate wouldn’t actually bring in a guilty verdict (a 2/3 majority is needed for “conviction”).
Now, you mention “give her a Democrat president and she will deliver”. That’s a fantasy. Barack Obama AS A MERE SENATOR gave in to Bush on FISA. Bill Clinton had a Democratic Congress for his first two years, but had to fight them harder than he did the GOP (and, amazingly, he did a better job getting legislation passed with a “hostile” Congress). I don’t see Obama getting his way even with a Democratic Congress. The GOP will filibuster EVERY nominee that comes before them in the Senate (and chances are very good that Lieberman will be free to go along with the GOP full time) because there is NO way the Dems will be able to pick up 10 Senate seats (or 11 to account for the likely Lieberman switch to the GOP).

Maher: Matthews and Olbermann ‘Were Ready to Have Sex’ w/ Obama

The media in general, and MSNBC in particular, are so far into the tank for Barack Obama that even the far-left Bill Maher, on his HBO show Friday night, recognized “there is a problem…with the media gushing over him too much.” Specifically, though he didn’t name co-anchors Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, Maher pointed to MSNBC’s coverage following Obama’s acceptance speech: “The coverage after, that I was watching, from MSNBC, I mean these guys were ready to have sex with him.”

Ferraro Leaves Door Open to Vote for McCain/Palin

If the first woman ever nominated Vice President by a major political party left the door open to voting for the second such woman EVEN if she was in the opposing political party, would that be newsworthy?

Well, on Saturday, Geraldine Ferraro told NPR that she hasn’t decided who she’s going to vote for in November, while also stating that whatever Sarah Palin doesn’t know about foreign policy “she will learn very quickly – she seems smart enough.”

Supreme Court appointments are not the bottom line.Since I became a lawyer we’ve had more republican presidents than not.Roe v. Wade energizes the republican base(it would not if it were overturned!)

In my view some women Hillary supporters are ripe for crossing over as a way to punish the democrats for being virtually indistinguishable in their tactics from republicans. Notwithstanding Hillary’s phenomenal powers of persuasion and commitment to ideals I hold dear , she cannot convince me to vote for Obama.I am absolutely persuadable about voting for McCain/Palin.

Asked what he thinks of McCain’s vice presidential choice, Obama told Kroft, “She seems to have a compelling life story. Obviously, she’s a fine mother and an up-and-coming public servant. My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain’s agenda.”
    What a Pig!

  • Ani

And by the way that is the same type of denial I experienced with some Republicans in re George Bush in 2004. They did not believe anything I said and thought it had all been made up by the left.

We are in such a dangerous place in this country. We do need to get past this red state blue state stuff — Obama pretends he wants to do that but with every move he makes, it is obvious he is doing exactly the opposite. The only people I know who are staunch Obama supporters can not give me a reason why except to say “he’s for change.” Truly. That’s the beginning and the end of it — oh, and that I have to vote for him because he’s a Democrat.

Freedom Fighter, how would you like to make a bet no late night talk show host would be caught dead repeating or making a joke about this malicious attack? Even if it were true, which I do not believe because I have seen the picture of a pregnant Gov. Palin, how does it feel to trash a sixteen year old girl? I would want to see proof of this accusation before repeating it if I were Huffpo or dailykos. Apparently you can’t even imagine the kind of backlash this will cause. You are talking about a nine month old baby with Downs Syndrome for God’s sake. What kind of people have taken control of the Democratic Party and the media? This post is about PRINCIPLE, integrity, honor. To extend the definition of the word: ie. You want a certain outcome and will do or say anything to achieve this end. You will rationalize your behavior by convincing yourself the end justifies the means. The politics of personal destruction now extends beyond the candidate to her daughter and her baby boy. You believe in someone who claims he will change our government and offer hope to the American people. You will defend him when he changes his position on every issue that was the heart and soul of the Party and you will say FISA doesn’t matter because he will not be like Bush. He has sold out his principles, if he ever had any, and you believe he will stop selling out when he is president? It doesn’t work that way. The power of the presidency will only increase his duplicity to maintain his power. If he is elected, the day he takes the oath of office, he will be worried about being reelected and will sell out more. Then, in six or seven years he might begin to worry how history will judge him and he will begin to try to fix what he has done and like Bush, it will be too late for him and for us. Do you believe he and his campaign are unaware of what his supporters are saying. In a pigs eye. They knew what was being said about Hillary and her supporters and made no effort to stop the nastiness. They won’t condemn these stories even after they have been proven to be lies. Or he will say he intended for his staff to do it and it isn’t his fault. The DNC will say they were unaware and will offer no apologies just as they did with Hillary. Ani said she wouldn’t vote for him because of her principles and neither will I. How can I possibly vote for someone when I know he is permitting this attack. I would be ashamed to vote for someone you, FF, consider a good candidate.

Wow…you twit the Dems have had control of the House and senate for over two years.

They ran on a platform of impeach bush to get the majority.

Yes i know Obama said impeachment is not an option…oh you didnt hear that?

You heard this one thogh no?

There are not red states or blue states.

According to Obama and his army of hopium addicted pod people…

There are states where the bitter uneducated bible thumping poor white trash redneck racists will not vote for him…

…and then there are the progressive enlightened states full of wonderful intelligent post racial non racist edumacated peeps that will vote for him and you better not point out that they are voting for an inexperienced fraud in those states…you racist!

So really the choice is up to you. When you cast your vote remember, if you dont vote for obama that makes you a dumbass redneck racist.

However, recent studies are beginning to point to a new truth that is quickly emerging.

If you do vote for Obama, you are a dumbass period.

Remember, once you put your personal political beliefs aside, you are either

Republican (Not Viable for Podding – Scheduled for recycling once the election is over),

Democrat (Your subconcious rejected the Pod Implant, however you will be assimilated or recycled),

Independent (potential pod person slated for indoctrination in the next 2 months but if you don’t get on the bus by November 4 you will be deported out of Omerica),

    or you are

An Obama Supporter (Fully Assimilated Pod Person saved from yourself by Obama, capable of functioning at an acceptable level with only a glass of koolaid and a daily injection of ATP – Axelfraud’s Talking Points).

Now for those of you trolls who come here daily to help the one fight the truths smears so that the Holybama is not besmirched with such evil thoughts and words, remember…

…every time you post one of your hatefilled sexist ageist racist insulting comments attacking people on this site you are reigniting their absolute disgust with Obama and his army of pod people.

…Ever post you make mocking, taunting, ridiculing and otherwise aggravating and annoying those here just helps many of those angered renew their commitments to go to the polls and shove ther vote so far up Fauxbama’s Unity Jackass that he can taste their fingers.

…So Bravo Trolls, keep it up, you are hurting obama and convincing those on the sidelines that you really are a cult and with ever vile bit of garbage you spew against those who do not support him, you ensure others reading your hateful comments will think twice about it too. Thankyou!

Yeah, my dad was spouting all that crap about Palin being a mayor of a town of “what, six people”? They asked me with glee what I thought of the Palin pick, expecting me to be all offended by it, as a feminisist. They were a tad surprised by my heated response. Though I think my mom does get why I’m considering voting Repub for the first time in my life, even if she doesn’t agree. But her standard line is, “I just don’t want to know about all that (the horrid treatment of Hillary, etc), because it’s too depressing. *sigh* I have a close friend who says the same thing, and is moving toward being a full-on Obama supporter. It won’t wreck our friendship, but I feel the need to be very, very careful. Again, *sigh*

Here’s an idea: Michael Moore has been an ass this election, but we know he is a well-meaning ass. Shouldn’t we PUMAs lobby him to investigate the caucus fraud? Maybe if he put his investigative skills towards Obama he might actually learn something and blow the whistle on this bullshit.

But we’d have to lobby him hard to take a look at it. He might just bite though.

Don’t be absurd, Ani. We do have to get past this red state/blue state stuff, so you’re voting MCCAIN? Are you out of your mind? When has Obama ever praised Reaganomics? Show me one quote of Barack Obama praising Reaganomics. Please. Show me the link. Trashing the Clintons? You mean the couple to whom he turned over half his convention? And who repaid him with brilliant speeches that are going to help get him elected? Privatize Social Security? Have you read Obama’s issues page on that?

For heaven’s sake, Anti — nothing you offer as reasons not to support Obama is true. None of it.

Please don’t peddle this nonsense here. Obama earned nothing. He has no business being the nominee with a paper thin resume. He has also flip flopped on everything he campaigned on. Never mind his nefarious and crooked associations of 20 years.

The true pledged delegate count indicated this was nearly a statistical tie that should truly have been decided at the Convention but with the thuggish DNC tactics threatening delegates and forcing Hillary to concede, that never happened.

The DNC pulled every trick they could to help him, starting with MI & FL, which you well know, and standing in lock step with the likes of media thugs to discredit and spit on Hillary at every turn.

If you think having ‘principles’ involves voting FOR a man like that, then I think some new guidance and an education to the truth is required.

It comes down to “True Grit”.

McCain? He knows first hand. BO? Nope.

  • rap-unzel

Ani’s posts are brilliant. They keep us sane and give us courage.

Speaking of courage, just returned from the convention with the thousands of others who went to honor and support Hillary. Hillary was the embodiment of everything there is to admire about a leader. Several hundred people waited for her on the street while she attended a meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel. Her staff wanted to push her into the car and get her to her next meeting, but she went straight to the crowd and made sure she shook every admirer’s hand. The Democratic Party no longer deserves the intelligence and grace of the Clintons!

  • sfhillary

Which delegates were threatened, and with what? And how was Hillary forced to concede? Please elaborate, because I have read quite a bit about this election and I think you’re completely, 100% full of shit. So show me proof that any delegates to this convention were threatened with anything, by anyone. And explain to me how the DNC “forced” Senator Clinton to choose party unity.

Your actions don’t fit your rhetoric.

  • jd4hill

Do your homework. John Lewis was threatened months ago by Obama supporters into shifting his support from Hillary — this was well documented in the papers. He is one among many. There are many well documented reports of Obama trying to turn delegates who were pledged to Hillary away from her before the convention.

Sheila Jackson Lee was called the filthiest names and received threats.

Furthermore, those who didn’t ‘come out’ early enough to support that fraud were also being threatened or punished with primary challenges.

Dean and Pelosi did tons of arm twisting to the delegates and state party leaders not to fully participate in the roll call for Hillary. It was a joke.

These are but a few examples.

His campaign implied Bill Clinton is a racist and all people who didn’t vote for Obama are racists. Gov. Sebelius herself implied if you didn’t vote for Obama, you are being racist. Look it up.

There are several links to him praising Reagan — I think one was just included above — do your own damned homework.

DON’T YOU DARE COME HERE AND PRETEND THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN.

Your revisionist history is b.s. Wake up.

Nobody said they are voting for McCain. But I personally won’t cast a vote for Obama — I may leave it blank and vote down ticket Dem. I may write in a candidate, I may vote for McCain. I may do a lot of things — but Obama the fraud doesn’t get my vote.

This is infuriating. Don’t come here and lie about that man. He promised to filibuster on FISA and he just rolled over and voted for it. Hillary voted against retroactive immunity or did you forget?

He took Hillary to task on NAFTA and did an about face on that too, and Iraq and many other issues. Go look at Goolsbee’s stand on Soc.Sec. (his econ. advisor) — he wants to privatize it.

He insulted Dems on abortion issues (“we don’t understand it’s a wrenching moral issue”)and went campaigning in S.C. with none other than reformed-thru-prayer ex-gay man Donnie McClurkin – Obie pandering to the church vote — that’s a Democrat?

There’s too many other issues to name here. Please don’t incite trouble when you know better.

Right now we have propganda machines in charge of deciding what info is relevant and necessay to make a judgement about political candidates? The only solution that presents itself to me is a complete boycott of all and resort to our own self education by reading every piece of imformation availabe. He said HRC was only there because of her husband. Well, 18 million voters didn’t think so.

I think his liquid lunches (straight scotch) have him too uptight. Obama and him can’t beat up on a man or they’ll get their a$$ kicked so they verbally abuse women whenever they need a “hormonal high.” Read between the lines, I’m stating it nicely.

The MSM crackpots are bought and paid for. Thank goodness I have spared myself from their mindless chatter. Do any of them really have college educations!?!? I’ve heard morons speak better.

Well I definietly agree, and thanks to whoever sent that video, to Fox, on Fowler that was histerical, but we definietly have to keep up with the idea, that they need to spotlight all the misogny sexism and racism, that O supporters along with the campaign set out there for Palin, we must join together and make sure they are put in their place and only talk on issue and record than their opinion about Palin, heck lets focus on those Kos, O supporters and the huffington post by allowing that crap on the net, not monitoring it, spreading hate sexism nd rasism, .
Hannity needs to call out those idiots and due a story on them to spot light their stupidity, get that blog sight banned, what a wish. We also need to make it loud and clear about the voter fraud that went on , and have the voting sights monitored so the republicans will make sure that ID, are used to vote, and not just cards, since we all know that the Chicago politician, uses all the dirty means he can muscle up with Acorn.
We must make sure we continue to say A silent vote for o is a stayhome vote, a third party vote, a fall in line vote, along with a sign in vote for Hillary is a vote for O, remember it is not ok, that the selected nominee used rascism and sexism and misgny, to tear down Hillarys reputation and record, it is not ok for the Dnc to stand around and not say anything that did not stop this, make sure we do not turned a blind eye on how they are treating Palin, speak loud and continue to post those nasty comments from o supporters to highlight what the O supporters and their paid bloggers are doing to spread hate and sexism, along with their dumb outragious stories, if you can not talk record ande experience shut the hell up. Vote the Democratic Party downticket; McCain – Palin or Cynthia McKinney at the top of the page.

We need to let Howard Dean UNDERSTAND how big his fuckup was; and we need someone from the CLINTON WING to wrest control of the DNC back–and there usually is a fight (as there was last time–Dean was not CROWNED, he had to battle for the job) for party leadership when the job is up for grabs after a loss.

I am planning on reregistering as an independent after November–the only thing that might change my mind is the public flogging of Dean, Brazile, and the entire bunch of fascists from the “Rules Committee” who threw out the rules to crown that inexperienced nitwit from Chicago by way of Hawaii.

I watched the ad and whoever created it should have paid closer attention to that Bush/McCain moment near the end because that grimace on Bush’s face after that semi-embrace says exactly what he thinks of McCain but all we see of McCain is his back.

These guys aren’t buddies and they have the same type of political relationship as Soertoro/Obama and Hillary Clinton have – political party tolerance in public. Hillary needs to get a gallbladder attack or something–nothing life threatening, but sufficient to keep her in hospital and recovering for several weeks. Surely, Obama’s neediness at this stage has got to be GALLing!

If I pull the lever for Palin, it IS a vote for Clinton. It doesn’t matter if Obama puts a gun to her head and forces Clinton out onto the trail pleading for me to do otherwise–I simply won’t do it, so Obama can save his money (though I’ll bet the crowds for Clinton would outpace HIS if he did do that).

My “fuck you” vote sends a message to Howard Dean and his crew of asslickers that they can’t bully me or steal my vote; that I’m THROUGH with the Democrats never putting MY WISHES anywhere near the forefront; and that they’ll reap what they alone–by cheating and stealing and gaming–have sown.

Don’t like it? Kiss my PUMA-sympathizing ass!

Palin is interesting; McCain isn’t stupid; and those two and a Democratic Congress will be “just fine” for the next four years. We’ll let the GOP clean up their own mess–that seems fair. Those two seem sharp enough to effect repairs to what Bush has done in a term.

McCain is competent, plainly–even though some angry people like to throw down the “ageist” card after they’re done flogging the “sexist” card–and Palin is a breath of fresh air.

It’ll be a fine ticket for a term, and then we can focus on Clinton 2012!

You can not demand conclusive proof of others if you show none for your own conclusions.

Unfortunately for you, that convention was broadcast live and we all saw Senator Hillary Clinton suspend the rules and suspend the vote before either candidate had enough delegates to win the nomination; ergo, it was given to him rather than either candidate winning which made the whole primary process of voting unnecessary.

And we all know that Senator Clinton’s delegates had to turn in signed papers before the delegate vote so a total could be taken before the convention vote. But we haven’t heard if such a demand was made of Soertoro/Obama delegates also.

If there was nothing to hide or prevent, why weren’t all those delegates who traveled so far to cast their votes allowed to complete the Democratic process for all the world to see? We ended up looking like any country run by a dictator who “wins” by proclamation! And you know it.

Anyone who turns their head away and says this is ok, is about to join a group pf historical hysterical’s which are nothing to be proud of. Would it be ok if let’s say those who support any candidate did the following?(this isn’t melodrama, it is what has happened in our own country).

Prevent someone from receiving health care, while ill or dying because of their sexual preference?

Prevent or pass laws to control marriages between races?

Blame a gender for a disability issue-Define “autism” as caused by the mother (see Bruno Betelleheim)

Small examples, they all started by word of mouth malicious gossip intended to defame and harm, cloaked in politics, religion, and education. For God’s sake people, think for yourselves, you can vote for a candidate, without selling your soul. But I swear if you choose to identify yourself with a party that would move to harm an infant, a teenager and a woman, with no validation, with no earthly reason other than to further your political needs, than beware, because you are being labeled as I write this, for the heartless, bigoted, spoiled priggs, that you are. Seriously if I were hiring someone, I would ask first (if it were legal), who did you vote for…….if they said O, they wouldn’t get the job. Part of how I judge a persons character is by their political belief, right or wrong, it goes again to character, and integrity.

  • C.S.

Again, Soetoro/Obama disciples accept every uttering and every posting on his website as indisputable fact but demand absolute “proof” from anyone else.

Didn’t like Bush’s double standard and don’t like Soetoro/Obama’s. I find out as much about the candidates as I can before I give one of them my vote; however, when a candidate tells me to just “trust” him to tell you the truth; that’s when I become suspicious.

If he doesn’t trust you enough to tell you about himself, then I don’t trust him enough to give him my vote. And condemning me for asking is a sure tip off that something is wrong. Trust that feeling you get when something is “not right”, it can save you from some very bad mistakes.

  • McKatmoon

Wow, thats great, I can see it, thank you for sharing that. Gives me a happy heart, and always my appreciation and admiration for Senator Clinton. Glad you got to go, what a great experience(I hope) for you!

The fact that you are even excited that this story has the possibility of getting legs shows what a pathetic piece of garbage you are.

I will never be civil to your racist accusing self again.

Stop the Hate, hater! Hating little babies well you’ve sunk to a new level.

  • C.S.

It can apply to family members. If they are that abusive over an election they are abusive about other things, too. We just tend to give family members more slack than we do our friends. I have one in my family, too, and just recently I realized that if it wasn’t this it would be something else. Sometimes you just have to distance yourself and become (hopefully) polite strangers who are always “fine” when you meet at family events. However, a parent who “goes psyco” over criticism of a political candidate can really be damaging to a family.

  • C.S.

~”The Republicans are our enemies, they are a threat to the world“~

Our enemies are those that threaten our Democratic/Republic and both political parties have now done that.

Re-read, or read, the Declaration of Independence for guidance on this phenomenal that has developed after 224 years. Then, you might check out the Constitution just for fun. Neither Bush or Soetoro/Obama seem to understand it very well since both have stolen their political positions.

  • misstickly

This will rain down on them so hard in November. They are disabled-hating, children-hating, women-hating pigs. Fuck it. Hillary, sorry, you can have this pathetic group and this pathetic candidate. I pray you NEVER tell me to vote for him again or I may have rethink my support for you. Nothing good can come from this joke of a ticket. They will defend this black trash because of their own white guilt but when it comes to the disabled, to the children and to women–they put themselves and relief for their guilt first. Hell, they don’t even care about african americans, it’s really just about them feeling better. And if it takes using a black man to do it, so be it. And Ob-uhm,uh is only to happy to capitalize on it. You can bank on the Cheetos gang to sink to any depths. Ob-uhm,uh knew that going in.

    Ani, thanks again!
Although, the facts are apparent, and I’m sure have probably been stated before, here goes.
I want President McCain in 2008…if he chooses to for-go another term, Gov. Palin will have to go through the primary process of her party.
    Ditto for Senator Clinton!
We have NO way to know who will gain those wins!
The WORST thing for this country is to put Obama and Biden in office!!!!

FF, sometimes I feel sorry for you because you are obviously clueless. What HuffPo and Sullivan say is malicious tripe 90% of the time, although as the saying goes “Even a blind hog finds an acorn sometimes.” (no disrespect to blind hogs meant by comparing them to these two idiots)

The legs you can expect if this goes on will be attached to the process server giving them notice of the defamation and libel suits against them. That’s how it’s done around here. And if you were an American, FF, you’d understand that beating up on children and women is not an American value. Maybe an Islamist value, but not an American one.

  • Astra14

And in between we work on getting the corrupt ones out of office and more AUTHENTIC people into office in Congress.

I don’t want to see this country “fall” in my lifetime. I don’t want to see a Hitler-type leading the country – and I’m afraid we may very much be heading in that direction. Living in a college town and hearing some of these kids, reading whats on the various websites, running into the trolls visiting all those websites, I keep thinking of Jim Jones and Hitler. There is no way in my lifetime I’m going to sit back quietly and let it pass. I CAN’T.

Once Bush was visiting AZ and all the R. bigwigs had to turn out and pander for him. There was a priceless picture on the front page of the Arizona Republic, if anyone can find it: Bush has McCain in a one-arm hug, he is looking off to the side and waving with the other arm at someone. McCain has his lips pinched tight and his cheeks puffed, looks just like he’s trying to choke the vomit back. McCain ought to find that picture and use it somehow–it said “I’ll pander to the party, but, damn it hurts!” Much like some episodes with Clinton more recently.

  • Astra14

I wouldn’t vote for her after this!!!

  • Astra14

I find the best thing to do at this point – if the other person doesn’t want to listen or think for themselves, don’t talk to them about politics. Walk away from that person.

If they are really interested in the what, why, and where, speak your mind and hold onto your convictions. And remember, you don’t have to agree – everyone is allowed their opinion and their vote, so don’t make it a shouting match – just keep is calm, civilized and don’t be afraid to say “I respect what you’re saying, but I differ and I’m not going to force my beliefs on you.” That’s has ALWAYS been my way of dealing with it because we all don’t agree on everything.

And if the trolls get to be too much, eventually someone gives them a good Whack and you can’t help but laugh sometimes, or the troll brings out more information being shared by the group which I’ve either forgotten or didn’t know, or sends me to a new site which I didn’t know about and my google didn’t pick up to add to my collection.

It always helps to be informed! THANK YOU NQ!

thanks for speaking so honestly and with great clarity.

i find myself in just such a quandry these days..

i’m trying on the one hand to find a way to support the dem party, and on the other hand i just cannot stomach what i know about bamacoup behavior and dem elite vote corruption. the treatment of Hillary will also never be overlooked or forgotten by me.

though, as you said, it’s not about Hillary anymore. it’s about the continued bloviating behavior of the dem party highjackers, and the corruption that reeks at it’s underbelly.

some of my friends and family who still continue to back bama have not done the research, and the “due diligence” is just not there. why it’s not there is that they bought the kool aid early and hard…also, the demonization of Sen McCain springs quickly to their lips at the mention of my even thinking of not voting dem. Mac is slimed by their bush hate. it’s really blinding them to the truth that is there if they wish to look.

i’m over it now, trying to do their homework for them. i’ll vote however i damn please, and according my own principles.

    and the devil be damned.

Hillary has MY vote in 2012. That I have no doubts on. If Obama takes 2008, he’s not going to let her win in 2012 either, we’ve already seen how things played out this year.

If McCain wins 2008, even with Palin on his ticket, there’s a good chance that Hillary will win in 2012. I’d rather see Hillary go up against Palin in 2012, than have her thrown to the curve against by her own party!

    much less politics.

i find myself watching FOX, if anything anymore.

at this point, i am no longer going to get into it with obama supporters. it’s a waste of breath.

after the GE, when McCain/Palin win by a landslide, i will also refuse to engage obamacans or any of the very few real democrats who feel obliged to support the empty suit and his puppetmasters.

i will celebrate with one of my sisters and her husband(who is a vietnam vet)…good working/middle class people who are informed, intelligent, and yes….fish and hunt in season. and they LOVE Gov Palin. after her acceptance speech i called them and we were all quite pleased and moved by Sen McCain’s honoring of a woman to work by his side in washington. we are quite impressed by Gov Palin’s resume as well. we see barky as unqualified and corrupt, as we also see the dem elite who selected him.

I have to say this sfhillary , It wasn’t Obama’s convention. It was the rank and file of the Democratic Party’s convention, a good chunk of which was paid for by the American people through taxes.

Just as we ALL footed the bill for the primaries we all agreed to help fund the conventions for both parties.

We American people, have agreed to do that to insure a viable national candidate for the presidency.

Every American was robbed, not just democrats!

I am still waiting for someone to give me one thing Obama has accomplished. One thing that has shown he has integrity and character. Someone please give me a time when he has talked the talk and walked the walk. What distinguishes him as a superior individual (other than being the son of a Kenyan).

I am still waiting to be awed by his incredible intelligence. What has he written himself that will show me that he has superior intelligence. He won’t even discuss the marks he received in college.

Why won’t Obama explain his relationship with Ayers? What is he afraid we will find out? We all know Ayers was more than a neighbor. What is Obama afraid will be revealed?

Aren’t you Obama supporters at least curious?

  • Irish1139

Diddy must not realize that Palin has more experience than Obama.

He really made me laugh. When did AAs become the majority in the United States?

I think there are about 52,000,000 baby boomers who have grown up with McCain. We know what kind of man he is. If Obama had half his honesty and character, I might not feel so bad about Obama becoming president.

  • PUMA KY

The DNC (Do Not Care) caused unity to be a thing of the past. Misogyny — we will remember in November. We will vote McCain-Palin as this is the most qualified ticket.

I wonder whose mind and mouth this rumor came out of. Were a bunch of men sitting around a table saying let’s slander Palin. We can make up a story about her children. I know we can say the child with Down’s Syndrome is really her daughters. Oh, ha ha ha. God people are really crazy. This is like McCain fathered a little girl from Bangeladesh.

I might have been more sympathetic to Ani’s passionate commentary, had she not written:
“She may not be Hillary Clinton, but this woman will make Obama look pale.”

Was this an accident, Or was Ani reacting to some kind of subconscious, racist fear? This unfortunate turn of words undercuts her points, i think.

I too have lost friends and family members due to the fact that I will not go along with the DNC. They have screamed at me that I was buying into the racist media and when I asked if they had researched BO they said no. But I’m the one buying into the media?

I also speak to some of my customers (which I will probably loose but this is to important for me to care). I tell them things that I have found out about BO, all the thing s we know here. They make one excuse after another as to why it doesn’t matter! People are so angry at Bush or like my 85 year old life long Dem mother-in-law who doesn’t like BO but can’t imagine voting Republican.

The problem is this is how people get led to slaughter if they just follow Party and not investigate. This country must wake up.

If I loose customers or friends thats a small price to pay than to loose our freedom.

They can intimidate the PUMA leaders but they won’t be able to stop all of us who know the truth and will not stand by quietly.

It has been incredible to me. On sibling who is incredibly well read and a news junkie is totally in the tank for Obama. Why? Originally simply because he hated “That Bitch Hillary.” He just couldn’t stand the sight of her. I told him I understood. I feel the very same way about Obama. He couldn’t understand that.

No matter what I say, he doesn’t want to hear it. I think this is because once you commit, you look like a fool to admit you made a mistake.

But the Obamatrons are no longer practicing logical thinking. They are all singing along and following the Piper.

  • jd4hill

    Curious, no. Delusional, yes.

They are just putting their hands over their ears, chanting “lalalalalalalalalala”.

They don’t want anyone to spoil their vision of their messiah cause then they’d have to admit that the Dems screwed up in trashing Hillary and that the McCain is actually better suited for the office than Obie. Heaven forefend they admit that.

Or that they were monumentally stupid not to vote for Hill.

The know Bush is evil so they assume Mac is the same.

The fact that Obie acts exactly like Bush seems to have no effect on them.

  • elise

sfhillary, that handful of people are left with power. Do you understand we have the power to change this election? 25% of eighteen million people will decide this election and it will be us, the disaffected Hillary voters. The people Donna Brazil said should stay home and the same voters he has ignored. Now, Obama has come out and said Gov. Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy is not a campaign issue the same thing he has done for a year and a half, allow his surrogates report a nasty story and disavow any responsibility. This Downs Syndrome child is Gov. Palin’s and I am sick at heart Democrats would repeat swill like this.

  • Ani

    Zaine,

Thank you. I have been heartbroken this year watching the disgusting behavior by members of my own Party. I am appalled by their shortsightedness. We truly need leadership in this country and their disgusting treatment of a sure fire winner like Hillary so they could champion this lying, empty suit has really been a rude awakening.

I am not advocating how anyone should vote by the way. I am just making the point that too many have been walking around with blinders on and we need to stop looking at labels and really examine who these people are and what they REALLY stand for.

There will be a lot of pressure to fold. It is important that we not do that.

    Country before Party.

  • jd4hill

Then ‘be united’ you ‘proud Dem’ (although how you can be proud of Dean & Pelosi et al is beyond me) and vote for Obama.

    That is absolutely your right.

If he speaks to you — who knows why — great.

But don’t begrudge us the research we’ve done or the experiences we’ve had this year which lead us to our decision.

Hillary and Bill keep talking about what a great patriot McCain is and how much he loves this country so don’t act like he is the devil. He is not my first choice — he is simply the best of what is left to choose from.

That is your doing, and the DNC’s doing, not ours.

  • Ani

Oh stop. Will you please. I’ve used that phrase forever. Don’t insult my intelligence. I’d have been more than happy to vote for the first African American president — I still am — but he or she has to be qualified for the job. Senator Obama is clearly not and he is a dissembler to the bargain. I need a person of integrity.

Nominate Michael Nutter or Sheila Jackson Lee, why don’t you. I’ll vote for them in a heartbeat. Watch me.

Certainly the late, great Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a woman of great courage and I would have been happy to vote for her. I am devastated that she is gone.

I will not tolerate these kinds of accusations. There is absolutely no basis for them.

  • elise

Isn’t it a shame Nancy, that the Dem. Party could have nominated Hillary and have had an excellent chance at sixteen years in the White House? Now they have little chance of even eight years. What were the reasons? Not to elect a bi-racial man, but to keep Hillary out and take the party for themselves. Their Power was more important than the good of the country and that is why Pelosi refused to consider impeachment. If you watched the convention, did you notice every time Pelosi showed up on the stage she was wearing different designer clothes and jewels? When Hillary walked out there in her orange pantsuit, I loved her more than ever. Her simplicity and honesty made Pelosi look like a wind-up doll more concerned in a display of her wealth than showing humility before the Democratic Party. The gaudy, over the top, tacky display at Invesco Field costing more than $5mil showed the first words to come out of Obama’s mouth to be a lie: “I am humbled…”. There is nothing humble about him. It is all hubris and arrogance.

  • PamFlorida

Wasn’t BO put into nomination by the former Rep.Jim Leach, R-IA.? In 1994, Leach initiated the Whitewater investigation into President and First Lady Hillary Clinton investments, which turned up nothing.
Just another stab in the back of the very people he now expects to get him elected.

Beliefs without a willingness to sacrifice do not mean very much. I was raised by a single mother (many years ago) who was the only female court reporter in our county seat. I saw sexism firsthand, even before I was fully aware of what it meant. When my own political party subjected Hillary Clinton to even worse sexist treatment than I had ever seen or heard of, I decided it was time to stand against sexism knowing that there would be a sacrifice. The sacrifice that I must now make is to knowingly vote for a candidate with whom I disagree on many things. If I do not vote against the Democratic Party after what they have done, then my belief that sexism is fundamentally wrong does not mean much. And, to tell you the truth, there is enough good about McCain and Palin to make my “sacrifice” pretty easy to bear.

  • Cahil

Yeah, it is getting embarrassing. That’s the only way to put it. Snd we do need to take back our party from the corrupt Pelosi and Dean.

    ~~

    Welcome to the board Mamatx,

Please feel free to do more than lurk.

From the funny to the profound. No matter the political party. It is always interesting to read the impressions this election has inspired. ;)

  • http://www.politicsandcriticalthinking.com Critical Thinker

Jack-Booted, Red Meat Eating, Male, Conservative here,

I am probably everything that most of the posters on this sight abhor; pro-life, pro-gun, smallest government possible, major tax reform, free market anarchist, slightly evangelical, etc. But, I have found myself for the longest time starting to sympathize with the Puma’s, Democrats who supported Hillary, and ironically the Feminist movement. This is probably as strange for you as it is me.

Here is the rub, you got hosed. But it was not that you got hosed it was the way you got hosed. The Conservatives and most Hillary supporters saw Obama for what he really is, a product of the media and Chicago Southside politics. Two very raunchy and despicable points of origin. Hillary, bless her Liberal soul, was a worthy adversary for Republicans, but most of us weren’t trying to destroy her. We wanted her around, because she made us evaluate our Conservative principles and reminded us what it is to be a Conservative. in some ways you could say we need her around as an adversary.

Obama, he is something different and very dangerous. He smacks of to much socialism and inner city solutions to suburban and rural America. Try running a socialist collective in the South, the West, or the Mid West and you will have your butt handed to you.

The point is for now we have common ground and a lot on our side do understand what happened to you and even sympathize for you. Yes, there are those in our midst that will use your vote as nothing more than a political advantage, we are not perfect. But at the end of the day Governor Palin’s candidacy and the attacks she is enduring in just 4 days has made me think about what all of you were saying all along.

For now, vote with us. We can resume our battle in 12′or maybe find more common ground in the future. I am open to either possibility. This country has a major identity crisis happening and our votes are the ones that are going to steer it in the correct direction, away from Obama.

    C.T.

  • Ani

Wow. Thanks for posting, Critical Thinker.

Look, even though I cannot stand with this corrupt Dem Party and have now registered as an Independent after 30 years, I know in my heart I am a Democrat — just not one of these corrupt folks that seem to have taken over the Party.

No one will see this comment at ths point probably, but just for posterity, here it is…my work doing GOTV phone calls for many states really taught me a great deal. Red state, blue state is crap — we all need to find common ground and stop ripping each other apart — the only people who make money that way are politicans, lobbyists and corporate interests. The American people do not benefit.

I am hopeful that this travesty of an election year will awaken people on both sides of the aisle and encourage a realignment of the parties.

Extremists of either stripe don’t necessary help anyone. Whether or not you were a Hillary supporter, I think we can agree that a) she got the shaft and b) her hard work and grit and preparedness really earned him some respect she might not otherwise have gotten.

I think she opened quite a few people’s eyes to look at her, and all of us, in new ways.

I’d like to think that her courageous journey was not for naught if at least that much was achieved.

    Critical Thinker

How refreshingly gratifying to see that logic, tolerance and compassion is found where you least expect it.

We loved Hillary because at heart she’s more like McCain, a real maverick. She’s worked closely with REpublicans for the good of the country. She understands Post-partisanship and she is not limited by her (ex)Democratic Party affiliation. She never was!

This primary has showed us that we can work together and the Pumas may provide that bridge between Real Democrats (not extremists) and Republicans. We can start building that bridge by taking down all the obstacles to Women’s equality. All this means is…RESPECT for women and we’ve seen proof that it’s likely to come from the OTHER SIDE….amazing what strange bedfellows we’ve found along the way to our shattered dreams, eh?

May you and family enjoy good health and prosperity. And I’ll never forget where Sen. Hillary Clinton got her respect from:

“I have no doubt that Sen. Hillary Clinton will make a good President” —Sen. John McCain, 2005,
in Bahgdad with HRC interviewed by Tim Russert!

    Pumas for McCain/Palin ’08
