If you can make it in Wasilla, you can make it anywhere.

The fact is, regardless of what you will hear over the next few days, Bristol’s pregnancy is not a legitimate political issue. Sarah Palin is a longterm member of a group called Feminists for Life, which is not opposed to birth control. So you probably can’t tag her for consigning young people to unwanted pregnancies.

I was going to write a post centered around a sensible story by an obviously sensible reporter, who was sent to Alaska to “get the scoop” for CNN on the Pailin secret.

But I think it is more important to quickly get this story out to as many people as possible, because this reporter’s story counters the entire “news” desk team’s narrative on the “issue” and how it influences the state of the Nation.

Note. My family is from Iceland. They live with exploding volcanoes and ships lost to the violent North Atlantic Ocean and Artic Sea. Little things are little things, compared to living in a world that is filled with as much danger as beauty. I can identify with these people in Alaska, one of our 50 states. From what I read I think the writer that came back with the story of her visit to Wasilla found real people in a part of our country that most people have only seen on TV. But this is not TV. This is not Hollywood. This is the real survivor story. If you can make it in Wasilla, Alaska, you can make it anywhere.

I think, after reading this article, you will understand why Palin is no Shrinking Violet. She will not back down because of partisan or MSM attacks on her or her family and Sarah will, once in DC, have no problem leading the Senate in the charge of taking on the little squirrels inside the beltway with much greater ease and effort than she exerted in taking down some moose-sized corruption in Alaska.

Washington be now put on alert. There may, perhaps, be a VP-level influence and corruption investigation coming that will rival all other investigations. And, as a taxpayer, I welcome the idea of such a fighter being in the White House.

So here is the opening of the story. Be sure to give Time its due and follow the link for the rest of the story.

In Wasilla, Pregnancy Was No Secret

That’s about the only thing that I didn’t know about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. The rest of the details I picked up almost without trying, while talking about other things with townsfolk — some who know the governor and her family well, some who don’t. It was, more or less, an open secret. And everyone was saying the same thing: the governor’s 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, the father is her boyfriend, and it’s really nobody’s business beyond that.

I happen to agree.

This tiny town wedged in between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges has intrigued the whole country since John McCain’s surprise Friday announcement that Wasilla’s favorite daughter, Sarah Palin, would be his running mate. Sure, some of the interest was a prelude to attacks on Palin’s readiness for national office. But Wasilla also offered a welcome chance to get specific about the geography of a politician. It’s one of our most cherished myths, that a leader can come from somewhere and you can guess at their qualities not just by what they say, but where they live.

wasilla.jpg

Well, here’s the deal: small towns have their own value systems, and in this situation those values are more a lot more valid than the dispassionate, pushy inquisitiveness that political journalism encourages.

I just got off the phone with a longtime Wasilla resident. She had urged me to find time today to go up to Hatcher Pass—”the most beautiful place in the valley!”—when I mentioned that the story on Bristol’s baby is now national news. Her voice slowed. “Oh,” she said. “I’m so sorry. That’s so unfair.”

Wasilla seems at times to be utterly without guile. It’s a large part of the town’s charm, and it’s exactly the quality that could make an unorthodox pick like Palin pay off. Don’t get me wrong — she’s a tough politician with sharp enough elbows on her own. But still, she appears to be more steeped in the values of her hometown than any politician I’ve ever come across.

Maybe that means Palin is a little too much Northern Exposure for America—after all, her father’s good friend Curt Menard happily showed me a picture of the governor as a high schooler in 1981, in a root cellar with family and friends, helping skin and cube and cure a whole moose. It’s enough to make you almost miss fake hunters like John Kerry and Mitt Romney.

People in Wasilla are Alaskan tough, so not only does a thing like teen pregnancy not seem like anyone’s damn business, but it’s also not seen as the calamity so many people in the lower 48 might think it is. This is dangerous country — it’s not just the roughneck jobs on cable reality shows. It’s real life here. I listened to the absolutely heartbreaking story of how the godfather of Track Palin, Sarah’s oldest son, died in small plane crash just minutes after having dropped off four kids. Another family invited me into their home and told their incredible story; with one son in Iraq, their other son was working on a conveyor line in Anchorage, got caught in the belt and had his head partially crushed. He lived to stand across the kitchen table from me and his parents, looking fully healed just three months later, grinning at his dumb luck and wondering what comes next in life. “It makes you realize that a thing like a little teenage pregnancy isn’t such a big deal,” his mom said. “Bristol—and lots of other girl like her out there — are going to be just fine.”

If you haven’t guessed yet, the people here are genuinely friendly.

    Thanks for the link.

Rural, small town America — the far west produces some very fine individuals.

I do not like large cities — I’ve been to urban centers and cannot how people can live in such a place. Yet they do and seem to love the energy of the city.

Obama-Soetoro really insulted a huge part of the American population who just prefer the smaller towns.

A friend of mine grew up in Hawaii — the city — she tells me — Honolulu is very different from the rural Hawaii I knew. I like the quiet, laid back, friendly atmosphere of the country. I hate the traffic in and around major metro areas — I’ll drive way out of my way to go around the mess of city driving.

Obama and the Chicago machine are picking a fight with the wrong woman.

It was hilarious, I just saw Obama this morning on CNN saying that Palin is inexperienced because she was Mayor with a staff of 50 and he has a staff of 2500 wait for it … on his campaign.
        What an idiot!

        • SBwa

wow. so him needing more helpers gives him more experience? i’d probably need 2500 assistants to guide me through performing brain surgery but that doesn’t make me an experienced surgeon.

Yes, I know, the Obama campaign keeps referring to when she was a mayor. They are trying to make people forget that she is a Governor of an entire state, one that is between two foreign countries: Russia and Canada.

Obama is a loon. Running a campaign? He has a million person staff who makes decisions, Obama just shows up to smile and talk to the people.

I hope the speakers at the republican convention WALLOP Obama and his “experience.”

          • Caya

Oh, me too! You know one of the comments that I heard was on the Beltways Boys and mort said that Obama was more qualified because he could ” talk and think. Yes, Think. What is that? I just shake my head and say you must be kidding? So Palin can’t? What does that mean?

    • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

The all-American teen twosome will make GOP vice presidential pick and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a grandma at age 44 – just in time for Christmas.

Doe-eyed Bristol Palin, 17, and ruggedly handsome Levi Johnston, an 18-year-old self-described “f—in’ redneck,” have been dating a year, locals in Wasilla, Alaska, told the Daily News.

      hahaha
that’ll shore up the bitter clinger vote, as well as swing some young female Obot votes away from the One – Bristol’s BF is eye candy alright!

BIDEN CANCELS POLITICAL EVENTS DUE TO STORM, HITS MCCAIN ON ISSUES

or Biden Tries to Do the Right Thing but in the End Just Can’t Help Being a Jerk.

Despite canceling an appearance at a Labor Day parade so he could focus his attention on Hurricane Gustav developments rather than campaign politics, Joe Biden criticized John McCain Monday for his positions on energy, taxes, and foreign policy.

So, now that Mccain has put the whole Republican Convention on hold in order to focus the country on helping the storm victims and save lives Biden chooses this time to hurl verbal grenades at Mccain?

The McCain campaign swiftly issued a response to Biden’s remarks, saying, “While John McCain has called upon Americans to serve and assist our fellow citizens in the Gulf states, Barack Obama’s own running mate, Joe Biden, clearly has no limits when it comes to political attacks.

Either Barack Obama’s claims of bipartisanship are empty or he is unable to control his running mate,” said Ben Porritt, a McCain spokesman.
Earlier in the day, Biden skipped out on a planned appearance at Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh, Pa., saying,  “I think it’s totally appropriate that elected officials march here in Pennsylvania, but it shouldn’t be a day for national politics,”he said.

After which he opened his big mouth and began to hurl partisan shit at the only man brave enough to put the safety of his countrymen and woman over party politics…

    Nice one…

So if these are the kind of dirty politics that the Obama campaign is playing we shouldn’t be surprised at the smears Obama supporters have been throwing at a teenage girl and downs syndrom baby I suppose…
    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/01/biden-skips-labor-day-parade-to-monitor-hurricane/

but wait, it gets even better…

Karl Rove called Biden a “big blowhard doofus” and Biden had the gall to reply thusly:
that while most Democrats and Republicans made the right decision to lay off politics as Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulf Coast, “apparently he didn’t get the memo.”

So you can now be clear that Biden DID get the memo but that his memo also contained talking points to use at this time of national emergency in order to try and score points against Mccain…
I wonder if the same memo also had the bizarre smear that Palin was not pregnant and that her son was really her daughter’s baby?

    hmm…. what do you think?

  • Smoking Polar

Wasilla is a very intense place. Palin’s experience there staring down the Russkies and wrestling Putin to the ground just like the way she did with a Polar Bear that one time represents foreign policy expertise without parallel. She is ready to be President NOW and in fact could serve both as US President and Alaska President, assuming Alaska secedes like she advocated.

    • OBushMA!

Alaska… that’s the fifty-seventh state to Obots, right?

      • roseeriter

Yeah and Obama deserves the POTUS because he wrestled with cocaine addiction, Bill Ayers terrorists one on one, and his Odinga relatives and muslim teachings and came out ahead in dirty Chicago politics. Makes sense to me.

        McCain/Palin

  • wodiej

Yesterday I had two people tell me “hey guess what?? Sarah Palin’s 17 yr old daugther is pregnant!” I said “oh really?” And then I just looked at them. Why the hell do I care about THAT?? I am concerned about the crazy gas and grocery prices. Me getting ready to lose my job and a small chance of finding a new one soon. Paying my mortgage and utilities and just keeping afloat. The brave soldiers fighting in Iraq, our huge federal deficit, continued downward spiral of our economy, people losing their homes. I guess when someone blindly follows a false leader like Obama who has no credentials except from radical people like Rev. Wright, Chicago corrupt politicians, Farrakhan, and many, many others, you need to take the limelight off of the huge cracks and flaws of your own character and try to make a big deal out of the smallest and insignificant flaws of someone else. There are alot of teenage girls who get pregnant, many of them black. They end up on welfare and either don’t know who the father is or he won’t take responsibility. So Obama and his psycho nut cases better be careful throwing those stones. Every time they do something like this they are burying Obama deeper just like “P Diddy”. Obama is showing all of the non-intelligent psychotic people who support him.

    • Heather

Got that right. Also, there is a pro-life trend among today’s teenagers. My 17-year-old daughter and her friends say that if they got pregnant they would not abort. They might or might not keep the child, but they would definitely have it. So the pendulum swings, from one generation to the next.

The point is “choice”, right? And I suspect that old devil, John McCain, figured this into his thinking on VP picks. The Palins certainly walk the talk. That’s a powerful message in today’s world where principles have been cast aside by our political leaders (Bush lies to get us into war), by news organizations (CNN bashes women daily), and by our pop stars (compare “Yesterday” by the Beatles with “I’ve Got 99 Problems and a Bitch Ain’t One”).

I sent CNN a scathing email today. They just suck. They are going on and on about Palin not being vetted and choosing her was a hasty decision so I reminded them about the Obama stories they should be reporting on, but don’t and how people like me do know about them. I added if you’re so in the tank for Obama I don’t know why you are helping people to despise him. Giving him special privileges and not holding him accountable now will not get him votes, it will do the opposite. If he can’t be held accountable as a nominee, what would a presidency be like? I’ll just be voting for McCain like alot of the people I know who despise Obama and think he is a joke!

Nah, it’s too hard and it’s too boring to cover legitimate topics like Rezko and Auchi, amongst a slew of others. MSM has taken the road of ease and sensationalism, like BHO and Bots. Why work an honest day in your life???

    • http://chriss chris

Here’s the rub, as they say. All this attention to Palin becasue she’s the real deal and way better than either of the Dem candidates so the Dems are chicken sh**. Why not look into drunken Joe’s background and dig some dirt out of his closet? Why not get back to vetting OB who still hasn’t provided the paperwork on his strange background? Deflect and attack is the Dems modus operendi right now. The Repubs better get in gear asap. These jerks won’t quit until they get the same mud right back in their faces.

  • TwoTermObama

I agree with Obama in that Palin’s grandkid-out-of-wedlock is a non-issue. I think for those of us in the democratic party, this is just another glaring double standard that you republicans have adhered to the last 4 decades. It’s okay–heroic even– to get knocked up if you come from a nice, white middle-class family but NOT if you are poor, or heaven forbid, a person of color. But like I said, it’s irrelevant to most of us, as it is to Obama. Can we get back to issues now? Let’s talk about McCain’s opposition to the Equal Pay Restoration Act, or his ZERO rating by NARAL and Planned Parenthood. Maybe you republicans could explain how saying women enjoy rape and calling Chelsae Clinton butt ugly is “maverick.”

Kevin I’m sick and tired that the MSM just ignores the LS allegations. Hear you have the son of Joe Biden, Attorney General for the state of Delaware issue and sign off on the arrest warrent for Mr. Sinclair right after his NPC appearance. Joe senior gets picked as Soetoro’s VP? What is wrong with this picture? Where is the MSM??? Reporting on a 17 yr old baby drama case. Sarah Palin’s family has had more vetting in the 2 short weeks than Soetoro has had throughout this presidential cycle. God Damn the corporate controlled MSM!

        • Heather

Yup, that is a most interesting coincidence. I wondered at the time … why was he arrested by Delaware officials in another state? Now the puzzle pieces lock.

    • Obama is a bum

      “I agree with Obama in that Palin’s grandkid-out-of-wedlock is a non-issue.”

Everyone knows it is a non-issue, moron. Where do you get off acting like your King Obama gets the last word?

What are issues are Obama’s lifetime of poor decisions including his drug and cigarette abuse of over 30 years, his decision to join and participate in a black liberation church for 20 years (bringing his kids there is child abuse), his decision to move to Chicago to learn politics in the sleaziest place in the country, befriending and learning politics from terrorists Ayers and Dohrn, picking three racist jerks for spiritual advisors (Wright, Phleger, and Meeks), befriending sleazeball Rezko, etc.

Other issues concern his job performance during his lifetime was subpar, unable to define where he stands on any issue without vacilliating, and his arrogant behavior.

Your use of the race card demonstrates that is all you have to use for your crappy candidate. I stated several months ago that the only thing Obama has is the race card and I was proven correct.

    • bert

Yeah, let’s get back to discussing the issues since the despicable Obama campaign siced their DK hounds on this story to get it out there and stir the pot and so now they can claim that the topic should be off limits. You folks and the MSM are scum bags.

      • captiveaudience

Now that BHO told MSM that family and children issues are off limits, how long will it take misbehaving children to pay heed?

Sounds like disobedient children refuse to obey even their master, since they are obviously making this such a a huge non-”issue.”

    • candymarl

Obama himself slammed black men for not taking responsibility for their children. Sarah’s daughter’s boyfriend is going to marry her and take responsibility. So where’s the problem? It’s what Obama said men, black men in particular, should do. .

    • Mr. Natural

Let’s talk about McCain’s opposition to the Equal Pay Restoration Act,

      Nice name for a bill.

It kinda reminds of of the nice names Obama had attached to that Illinois Health care initiative that were drafted and handed to him by Emil Jones.

You know, like the one that sounded like it delivered universal health care in Illinois,

But in reality mandated nothing more than a committee to, again, study the issue.

And it also reminds me of his pet Nuclear Industry Leak Reporting bill, the one that supposedly forced Nuke plant operators to notify everybody if a leak happened…

But in reality, by the time Obama was finished caving to industry lobbyists, was no more than a suggestion that they do so.

So I wonder if McCain’s objection was to the content of the bill, not to the lofty promises of its title.

      • stodghie

empty, lofty promises are obami’s bread and butter, fellah.

  • Perry Logan

The Obots are too stupid to see that, whenever they bring up Palin’s inexperience, they are reminding everyone of Obama’s staggering inexperience, thereby hurting their own campaign. We really need to do brain scans on these people.

    • roseeriter

      blip-blank…done…just what we expected.

    • Yesbama

This has nothing to do with Obamas experience or lack of! It has to do with McCain lying!!

How can McCain say Obama is inexperienced and say Palin is not? She said in December she hasn’t even been paying attention to the war! McCain tells us the war should be out top concern and then picks someone who hasn’t been following it? How do you reconcile that in your own mind.

Cindy McCain said on Sunday that because Alaska is so close to Russia that she has foreign policy experience! REALLY???!!

This Palin pick has shown me one thing. NONE of you EVER gave a shit about Hillary Clinton. Nice acting though, well played. Any real Hillary Clinton supporter would laugh in the face of Sarah Palin. The good news..we will be seeing a lot more of Hillary, Obama aides have said she wants to hit the trail now more than ever.

      • roseeriter

          • Rob in Chicago

Sarah Palin’s executive experience as Alaska’s Governor trumps Obama’s short attention span theater performance as a U.S. Senator.

      • CJ

The Dems took experience off the table by selecting Obama. They made this campaign about “judgement and change.” So given that Dems do not want experience (unless of course you are speaking of Joe Biden) you have to be smart enough to make a game change. You can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result! That’s judgement…that’s change. Get over it. And please show me a link regarding Cindy McCain’s Russia comment.

      • Obama is a bum

“How can McCain say Obama is inexperienced and say Palin is not?”

By opening his mouth and saying so, he doesn’t stutter like Obama or have to use cue cards.

“Any real Hillary Clinton supporter would laugh in the face of Sarah Palin”

18 million of them and none of them have done it. It seems you lost all credibility. Apparently they are not thugs like Obama supporters.

I am sick of people saying that because I supported Hillary I should support the bumbling duo because they care about the same issues as Hillary…
        1. I have no proof that statement is true. Where are the actions to back up that claim? His flip flopping makes me believe that he is not a man of his word.
        2. Character is an issue for me. I think that a POTUS should not be a former member of a racist and divisive church for 20 yrs, only to leave when it is the expedient thing to do.
        a. Ethics… Alice Palmer, back room deals getting legal divorce documents unsealed on his opponent just before the election that won him his US Senate seat, Rezko and his house deal, MI and FL, caucus shenanigans….
        b. Integrity ~ Ayers is a man that lives in my neighborhood… Using surrogates to smear Hillary and Bill, accepting the Democratic nomination to run for POTUS knowing that it was a gamed coronation… do not get me started on his lies.
        c. Humility ~ this man has none. I see many traits that lead me to believe he suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. NPD is a serious problem, and that is one reason I call him Bush III.
His ego kept him for asking Hillary to be his VP, so he puts his personal feelings above doing the right thing.
These are just a few reasons why I will not vote for this man. He is the undemocratic “new” Democrat… I also remember Donna B telling those that were not happy can stay home, we (the working class, traditional base of the party) were not needed, they are a “new” party and they do not need us.

You know, the more I think about haw Palin went after the corrupt in her own party, I am pretty pissed off at Hillary for letting the DNC get away with fraud, among other things. You go ahead and support the undemocratic fraudulent party, Hillary, you might just loose me forever.

      • Heather

Don’t you see where this is going? Obama neutralized the experience argument, himself, by picking Biden. So McCain is moving into different territory. McCain isn’t touting Palin’s foreign policy experience. He’s touting her can-do attack on corruption and her strong moral principles.

McCain’s case is going to be that we need strong principled leadership in Washington, not a bunch of moral weaklings like Bush, Obama & Biden. He’s got Biden on drinking, on voting for the Iraq (“that’s before he was against it”), and probably lots of stuff we don’t even know about. He’s got Biden attacking Anita Hill and letting Clarence Thomas be approved (after Barky said Thomas is weakest justice).

He’ll have a parade of bad Obama associations: Ayres & Wright for starters, then if need-be Auchi & Sinclair and the birth certificate and school application listing him as a Muslim. He’ll have all the flip-flops in Obama positions. Obama morally bankrupt vote FOR FISA (which mcCain voted against), Obama “present” votes and wrong button-pushes, his various lies about his past.

The pundits have been saying if this election is a referendum on Obama, then Obama loses. And that is what McCain is going to make it.

      • Mr. Natural

Obama aides have said she wants to hit the trail now more than ever.

Obama and his aides are proven liars.

        It’s that simple.

  • JoseyJ

Obama touted his superior experience managing his Dem campaign to Palin managing the Alaska government.

Obama has managed a team of Democrats to win the Democrats nomination while having the support of the Dem leadership throughout the primary, RBC, etc.
Palin defeated a Repub governor, rooted out Repub corruption, took down a Repub good old boy system…
Again I ask – when has Obama ever stood up to the Democratic leadership?

Repubs say Obama’s “experience” is basically running for president since he entered the Senate.
    And, Obama agrees with them.

        I’ve left the left behind.

    • Obama is a bum

“Again I ask – when has Obama ever stood up to the Democratic leadership?”

I am asking when has the Democratic leadership stood up to Obama? Or when has any Democrat had the backbone to stand up to him?

The Democrats have become a party of wimps under a false messiah. They have demonstrated that the country does not matter only that they win an election.

I am voting straight Republican this time and it will be the easiest decision I have ever made. The former Democratic party — now the Obama party — has gone insane and anyone still registered as a Democrat after all that has gone down is insane as well.

      • NoObamislamists

It’s like the only thing the Dems learned under the Bush era was to be just like Bush and the Tom DeLay era republicans, and in true Rovian fashion, then campaign on the evils of Bush and tie all opponents to Bush.

    • bert

On Anderson Cooper last night Obama said, “My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We’ve got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” [emphasis mine] Obama said.

Where does he come off comparing his CAMPAIGN to real EXECUTIVE governing?

I notice he compared his campaugn to Palin’s mayoral staff. Why did he coose Wasilla instead of the satte of Alaska. Maybe becasue, as Adam’s Blog correctly pointed out it has six times that staff or about 15,000 people she managed. And these “employees work in diverse areas such as labor, law enforcement, and highways while Obama’s 2500 are dedicated to electing him.”

      Obama is a sham!

      • methinks

ODrama has nothing valid to speak about. So resorts to comparing apples and oranges.

        • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Besides which, you don’t get credit for managing a campaign unless you win the election – then you can claim you ran a successful campaign.

Managing a loser of a sham campaign that drove off half your base isn’t exactly an accomplishment.

but wtf he doesn’t have any achievements to speak of, he’s got to pad his resume somehow.

          • AngryWhitePerson

And managaing Obama’s campaign is pretty self serving, everyone involved has one goal in mind, to elect a puppet. Whereas managing a state actually affects people’s lives in many different ways. Narcisssists can’t grasp that concept.

            • Mr. Natural

              Narcisssists can’t grasp that concept.

If he gets elected, I want the Statuary Concession.

In the self-aggrandizement department, Obama makes Saddam Hussein look like Albert Schweitzer.

And I’ll be a billionaire inside of four years.

      • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Why is he even comparing and contrasting himself to Sarah Palin?

Isn’t McCain at the top of the ticket?

Oh I get it, Oblockhead introduced Biden as the next POTUS, so I guess they’ve switched and Barky is now the Veep candidate.

        • TeakwoodKite

Why is he even comparing and contrasting himself to Sarah Palin

Obama like anyother Toon from Toon twon can’t help himself.

How anyone can compare running a state to ducking votes in the Senate is beyond me.

Wait a minute, I thought Obama was running for President and Palin for VP. Why is he worried about her experince vs his experience? He has no qualifications to run for the top job. She isn’t running for the top job and she has more qualifications. She can learn on the job, he has to be ready from day one. Seems he is paying too much attention to the number 2 position. Is he scared do you think?

  • steveeboy

    ah yes,

she is against teaching birth control in sex ed class but the out of wedlock pregnancy of her own daughter is not a fair issue.

she believes that no one should be able to have an abortion–even in cases of rape, incest, and deformed fetus–but her own family’s reproductive politics are off limits.

they are all rugged individualists up there, and the 17 year old daughters inability to keep her legs closed–since she was not taught about birth control–is not anyone’s business despite the fact that she is the daughter of the Veep pick and the party that claims to have a hold on the “family values” issue.

sorry gop ratfuckers, most families in america thinks it is a big deal if a teen age daughter gets knocked up.

they think its even worse to be a hypocrite and to try and impose rules on others that you don’t follow yourself.

    • wodiej

you’ve got to be kidding me?? haha, how old are you, really? I mean you can’t be more than 14 or 15. Most American families think it is a big deal if a teenage daughter gets “knocked up”?? It’s called pregnancy you piece of trash. The highest rate of unwanted teenage pregnancy is among hispanics and blacks. Most are unmarried. 80% end up on welfare. The majority of teenage girls that abstain from sex do so for religious or moral reasons. Teenagers w a strong emotional attachment to their parents are less likely to have sex and get pregnant. Teens who have been raised by both parents are also much less likely to have a teen pregnancy than those who didn’t. Hmmm…that sounds an awful lot like far left liberal Democrats. At least Sarah Palin’s daughter knows who the father is and is taking responsibility. She won’t end up on welfare either. Shut up, you have no idea what you are talking about. Every time one of you bots come on here you just show more evidence of how stupid you are. You realize that don’t you??

      • stodghie

fool, go check the lastest numbers about how many teens have sex. you are lying when you say teens abstain. NO THEY DON’T.

    • bert

“…..and the 17 year old daughters inability to keep her legs closed–….”

WTF does sex education have to do with that? WTF does knowing about birth control have to do with this? One does not logically follow from the other. I can have all the sex ed I could desire, and I could know about birth control and still get pregnant.

You need to think these things through logically before you parrot Obama talking points to us here at NQ.

    • Dr. Kate

you are lying, and we can see right through that here. just saying your points doesn’t make them true.

whats the matter, your little boy is going to be beaten by a GIRL? Oh, I thought barky was running for president.

Stop forcing your psychological issues with white women on America, get some therapy, take your meds, and step out of this race. YOu are clearly over your head…I mean you can’t even beat a girl from a small town. Sheesh!

    • Heather

“… most families in america thinks it is a big deal if a teen age daughter gets knocked up.”

Actually, not so much in the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community, which is just one more proof of the *sheer genius* of John McCain’s VP choice. Now the Republicans can say we’re not so different after all, whites & blacks. In fact, here are two songs I’d like to hear at the McCain/Palin convention:

“It’s a Family Affair” by Sly & Family Stone

“We Are Family” by Sister Sledge:

      We are family
I got all my sisters with me
      We are family
      Get up ev’rybody and sing

  • John Smith

John McCain’s VP pick is one of the best political moves in decades.

We have a majority that can’t stand republicans and has voted them out of congress 2 years ago. Further more, most people think the country is on the wrong track, the war is very unpoular, gas prices went up to 4 dollars a galon, the economy is not doing well. I am sure there are at least 10 more things that goes against the republicans.

Now McCain picks a VP that is very popular with his base and every time the MSM and Obama campaign attacks her the more people will back her. Does anybody really think that by giving Palin the Hillary treatment that somehow that will get the people who supported Hillary forget what happened to the Clintons. Only thing it will do is remind everybody that the DNC is turning into the old RNC and at that point why vote for anybody from that party.

    • Obama is a bum

The Republican party is the only option now. The Obama party is insane.

Forget about the business of being on the wrong track — the Obama party will derail the train.

      • imustprotest

You’re so right Oisabum…I can’t believe it myself. Who’d thought, the Republican ticket is the one I’m turning to get away from the corrupt Dems. Wow, CHANGE to corruption and political hack jobs, from the Obamasoretoro camp.

  • JM08

The problem is that the media saw that Palin had a huge positive effect on McCains poll numbers, as well as his fundraising figures, and it scared them to death. The media viewed her as a threat to their beloved messiah, so they are doing what they have to do to tear her apart to the point the she either quits, or is defined as completly incompentent and unacceptable as a candidate as vice president.

If you read my previous posts, then I am sure you realize I am very dissapointed in the Republicans response to this butchery yesterday. They basically said nothing to try to defend her, or take the heat off her, instead they basically just kept saying how great the response of the messiah was in denouncing these attacks.

    • John Smith

Why make a big deal about it. The only people that will make a big deal about it are the people who this they will gain something from it. The rest of the public will ignore it. Now this would have been a problem if the republican base had a problem with it. But they seem to be delighted that she is having the baby. So it really is non issue. In a week it will be a non issue. It might just give McCain a bump since people will see Palin as person who can relate to them. Plus, it will give McCain a lots of exposure while keeping BOBO off the news.

It’s up to us.. the target market of this propaganda effort to let the slimebags know we reject thier product.

I agree that they need to quit praising Obamboozler and take him to task because he is so full of serious baggage.

Obama had no choice but to say Palin’s daughter is not an issue, Obama would have lost support from many people except his biggest racist supporters. Obama has been yapping about micHELLe being out of bounds even though she is out campaigning for him and saying some ludicrous things.

We will see how Palin holds up against the Obama attack machine and an unfavorable media that is in the tank for Obama and does not care much for women. If she holds her own agaisnt the pigs then she will prove that she is an exceptional candidate.

  • katmandu

    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/02/obamas-answer-on-experience-but-im-such-a-great-campaigner/

Barky stumbled all over himself trying to answer how his executive experience ranked with Palin’s. The questioner was Anderson Cooper:

AC: Some Republican critics say, you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this [Hurricane Gustav]. They’ve in fact said that Governor Palin has more executive experience as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state like Alaska. What’s your response?

BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.

    • Elliott

Running a dirty political campaign for a party nomination and a coronation of a convention for a couple of years is being compared to running a city and state? Obama is now running against the vice presidential candidate of the opposing party. He has managed to put himself at a disadvantage against an unknown woman. What a loser.

    • snosandy

So, did AC call him on comparing his campaign to her being a mayor instead of her being the governor? If not, shame on Anderson Cooper.

    • waiting

LMAO! Its Wasilla not Wasilly, Barky. And Sarah may have been the mayor of Wasilla a few years ago, but she is currently the Govenor of Alaska. I think the budget is bigger, the legislature is more difficult to handle, not to mention all the conflicting views of the people of Alaska – how to pass a gas line, whether to open one of worlds largest copper and gold mines near one of the worlds largest commercial fishing areas, get congress to open ANWR, help people in far flung Alaskan villages that still use honey buckets, guide a state that is struggling with massive infrasture issues into the 21st century – all this and much more compared to a political campaign. People that don’t know Alaska and Alaskans underestimate what is going on up here and the type of people that choose to live here.

Palin represents some of the best characteristics of Alaskans. She is tough, honest, independant and fearless. Barky and the dems should be afraid. They have no idea what is coming from this unknown lady. She is what Barky talks about. Change and bipartisanship.

      • Heather

Yeah, and since when is running a state no more than managing the people in it? There’s infrastructure, commerce, TWO international borders. Obama is trying to use his brilliant “framing” strategy to make this all about population. What a crock.

This is a WaPo article today by Eugene Robinson :

“Would You Do That to Your Daughter?

As I tried to make my way through St. Paul today – protesters managed to make driving, or even walking, anywhere pretty much impossible – people I ran into were asking one question: Is Sarah Palin doing what’s best for her daughter?

This isn’t a sexist question. It would also be asked of a male politician in her position. Is it fair for any parent to put his or her pregnant, unmarried, 17-year-old daughter through the klieg-light scrutiny of a presidential campaign? Actually, there’s a better way to put the question: Would you do that to your daughter?

There are lots of other issues involved with Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, chief among them her mother’s far-right views on sex education and abortion. But what’s truly awful is that the girl’s pregnancy would be reduced to “issues” at all. That unfair process became inevitable the moment Sarah Palin accepted John McCain’s invitation to be his running mate. Palin effectively guaranteed that Bristol would have her baby under the glare of unimaginable public scrutiny. The whole world would be watching.

It’s one thing to walk the walk of your political beliefs, as Palin did when she learned that her infant son would be born with Down syndrome. It’s another thing to bring your teenage daughter along for the hike – or even to allow her to follow you down such a path. As a parent, I hope Palin thought long and hard about Bristol before saying yes to McCain.”

The tone of this article, with its references to “far right views on sex education and abortion” and the content of the final paragraph, reflects a level of arrogant contempt for other people’s moral values that is nothing short of breathtaking.

It is yet another commentary from a columnist, and a newspaper, which has lost sight of any kind of journalistic standard and, in this particular case, scraping the bottom of the barrel in an attempt to defame the Palin family.

    • http://NoteToSelfDontDie.com/members/ gerard McNedich

      agreed… no journalistic standards…

but what is even sadder for our country is these people have no humanity at all…

which makes Mccain and Palin all the more a positive force for change…

    • John Smith

I have a feeling this will get very ugly with the media but it will back fire big time.

    • Obama is a bum

Robinson is a left wing Pig that is very well known.

The Bristol pregnacy should not be a campaign issue but the Obama campaign is so full of baggage is that they want anything they can get to create diversions away from the Pig.

With Sarah or any other candidate John McCain picked they should mention anything that the Obama pigs and media pigs will unvail over the next two months. If Sarah got a ticket for driving her snowmobile too fast 5 years ago then mention it and get it over with before the media makes a story of it.

    • RepublicanChick

If you’re Barack Obama, you don’t want your daughter “punished” with a baby.

For all those Obots that continue to believe conservatives will disapprove, guess again. Bristol’s keeping her baby and that has only solidified their belief in Sarah.

The Republican base is energized about Palin.

    • candymarl

That’s what I don’t get. The Democratic Party is supposed to be the party of choice. That means you can choose to have a child or not.

Palin is aware this will be tough for her daughter and she will have to grow up too soon. Palin is not crowing about it. But these things happen in all types of families.

The father is taking responsibility. It was an open secret in Palin’s hometown.

Obama has said these type of family things are off limits. Guess his supporters didn’t get the memo.

    • Heather

The points in that article might be countered thusly:

      1. The movie “Juno” won academy awards this year. In which a teenager weathers pregnancy with courage and charm.

      2. The African-American community has a very high teen pregnancy rate and the hispanic community is strongly pro-life. This story can only warm their hearts.

  • John Smith

Attacking Palin’s daughter will back fire big time. I don’t think they really understand the American public.

  • JM08

    Vincep1974-

Well I dont think the McCain camp should cry and moan about the media, but they should hit back hard against the media, and call the media out for their treatment of Sarah Palin.

We as politcal junkies can see through the medias motives in brutalizing Palin and her family, but the average american takes the media at face value for the most part.

Right now the average person is only been fed the rhetoric that Palin is another Quayle. Actually worse because they are not just saying she is inexperienced and incompetent, but also a bad mother and corrupt.

If the Republicans dont say anything than the average person will begin to take these viscious attacks as truths, ecspecially since she was so unknown to begin with.

The republicans need for people to start hearing that these attacks are fueled by the medias strong love for the messiah. I know it is conventional wisdom that candidates dont complain about media coverage, but McCain has no choice, because remaining silent will spell sure defeat for him anyways. Besides with the level of the brutality of these attacks I dont think people would hold it against him, if he complained about how the media is doing their job.

    • Obama is a bum

I agree that the media needs to be called out for their pathetic bias. It is almost like we live in a communist country where they control the media. Dan Qualye was attacked by the media on Day 1, they never gave him a chance. He was only 41 years old but he had 4 years of experience in the House and 8 years in the Senate which dwarfs Obama’s experience of 3 years in the Senate where he did not do anything other than run for president.

Qualye never sat in a racist anti-American church for 20 years or befriended a known terrorist who declared war on the US. Qualye’s character was far superior to Obama’s.

      • bert

        Just remember, Qualye became Vice-President.

Sarah Palin will follow in his foot steps. And she will be a much better VP than Qualye could ever hope to be.

    • Heather

Yes it has me on pins & needles too. BUT I’ll betcha McCain has internal polls suggesting no one buys that media garbage. And just wait, I suspect he’s letting it build up and he will attack it either in his convention speech or shortly thereafter in the run-up to the election with some very good attack ads.

      • Mr. Natural

He could be hoping that enough people will value substance over style.

If not, we’re all doomed anyway.

  • ObamaNOT

Its funny the drive by media is going after Bristol Palin, and her mom; something about her BIL, typical…..But they will pass on OBOMBA and AYERS……

    Which story is more newsworhty?
    Whuch story is a BOMBshell?
    Which story could be EXPLOSIVE?

OBOMBA, and Ayers is the story, but CNN wont touch it….They must endorse terrorists….

Anyone who votes for or supports OBOMBA is supporting BILL AYERS, simple…..Either what he did was ok, or you iwill hate what he did….

OBOMBA is his pal, OBOMBA is a friend of a terrorist…..And you are too if you vote for OBOMBA…..

  • beebop

I wish there was a way to let Bristol Palin know that all Democrats aren’t mean and vindictive. If I could send her the world’s biggest bouquet this morning, I would. And I would love to know other, more interesting things about her, too. Like what are her friends like and is she atheletic? What does she like to do in her free time and what are her favorite subjects? Does she plan to pursue higher education? Does she sing? Does she like dogs? Does she love her baby brother as much as she appears to (good signs for a young mother to be)? What does her fiancee do? Does he plan to go to college? How did they meet? Does he get along well with her parents? What is his family like?

There are tons more questions because right now the only thing we know about the young Ms. Palin is she’s going to be a mother. Something that is not that much different from what other women choose to do. But if we only see her in terms of a pregnant teen, how much are we missing? How much are we categorizing?

I wish I had waited to make my contribution to the McCain campaign until today. I want John and Sarah t know that I support their message and efforts MORE today than I did Saturday before the blogosphere started to rip the Palin family apart. At least twice as much.

    • RepublicanChick

      They know beebop :-)

The McCain team seems to get around the PUMA blogs pretty well from what I’ve been seeing in various emails.

I’ve had a few “WELL DUH” moments reading some of the emails.

  • RepublicanChick

I’m not worried about Sarah because of the following:

    1) The Labor Day weekend is over and conservatives are ticked off from the events of this past weekend. Rush, Sean, Neal, Laura, and many of other conservative talk shows take to the air today.

    2) On Wednesday, Sarah will give her speech at the Convention.

    3) For all the “dirt”, middle America can relate to Sarah and I suspect people in rural Ohio and Pennsylvania aren’t too thrilled with DailyKos, HuffingtonPost, and the media.

    4) John Kerry 2004 meet Barack Obama 2008 :-)

    All will be well. :-)

    • roseeriter

I’ve been shaking off my Democratic fairy dust that has accumulated for many years and I think I believe you Republican Chick!!

      McCain/Palin

      • RepublicanChick

Well, I have been a Republican all of my life. Carter and Clinton have been the only Democratic presidents in my lifetime and I don’t even remember Carter’s presidency because I was out of the country.

John McCain can run whatever campaign he wants, but he has no power stopping the 527s.

What happened this weekend proves again why Democrats lose presidential elections. They fail to learn from the previous election cycle what happens when you play dirty with Republicans.

      • bert

This morning reading all the hateful things the far left blogs and the MSM were spewing about the Palins I cried. I really wept. I cried for myself believing for so long that the Democratic Party ever really cared for me and for women. I cried because for forty years the Democrats have used me and my reproductive rights just to stay in power. I cried for the Palin family. I cried for what has become of my beloved country.

Then I remember Hillary’s convention speech.

“If you hear the dogs, keep going. (DK, HuffiePo, Truth Dog, MSM)

If you see the torches in the woods, keep going.

If they’re shouting after you, keep going.

        Don’t ever stop. Keep going.

If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.”

And so I renewed my vow to do to make sure Obama is defeated in November.

        • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

          Very good.

When I heard her comments my first thought was that they were directed to PUMAs to continue their efforts against the Chicago/DNC machine.

    • Obama is a bum

It will be up to Sarah on how well she campaigns and answers questions. The media wants to destroy her so she will be tested; if her responses are as poor as Obama’s then the media will eat her alive. If she knows what she is talking about and comes across well against the Obama media then she will be an outstanding candidate.

      • RepublicanChick

If you live in a state with Ted Stevens, The Murkowski family, and Donald Young, you can live and deal with anyone.

Sarah will do just fine and I think the onslaught of media and Obots attacking her only strengthens her resolve.

    Leading Alaska Democrat praises Palin

Alaska’s highly touted Democratic nominee for the state’s lone congressional seat has nothing but compliments for Republican Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain’s new running mate.

Former state Rep. Ethan Berkowitz praised Palin’s record of ethics reform and bipartisan credentials in a statement.

“This is an exciting day for Alaska,” Berkowitz said. “Gov. Palin has made her name fighting corruption within her own party, and I was honored when she stepped across party lines and asked me to co-author her ethics white paper.”

Berkowitz is running against the winner of the yet-unresolved Republican primary between Rep. Don Young and Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell. With thousands of absentee ballots still uncounted, Young leads by a razor-thin margin of 152 votes.

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/scorecard/0808/Leading_Alaska_Democrat_praises_Palin.html

The Democratic meme for today is that Palin was a terrible liar for trying to get the biggest share of the federal dole out for her state, while opposing earmarks in principle. The same was true when she was mayor. Uh, when you’re at the bottom of the heap that’s what you’re supposed to do. Otherwise your locality loses out. When you get in power at the top, you try to change the system. As governor she has tried to cut earmarks requested from the state budget by the towns. It’s an inefficient, wasteful system, and the ending of it is important. Hey, my brother was a school system administrator and fought for every federal giveaway dollar he could. He is a fiscal conservative. Should he have shortchanged the kids in his system because the feds choose to hand out money in such stupid fashion?

    • RepublicanChick

Here’s hoping that Donald Young wins.

Rep. Ethan Berkowitz is a gem. When few in the Republican Party in Alaska would defend Sarah, Democrat Berkowitz was there. Thank you Rep. Berkowitz.

Here’s hoping that Rep. Berkowitz wins this seat and Alaska can be rid of Donald Young once and for all. What a snake!

  • JM08

Your right the media has not touched Ayers, or Rezko really for that matter, or the questions surrounding his birth certifcate or possible citizenship issues. I wont list all his potential scandals, but there is many that the media could at least bring up and do some kind of investigation, but they wont because BO is their messiah.

They are giving all this lip service to this baseless lawsuit or whatever it is brough forth by this guy that has a ax to grind with Palin, over her wanting fired her brother in law, who tasered her 10 yr old nephew, physically abused her sister, and theatened to put a bullet in the head of her father. They dont even mention that part of it, they just say she is being investigated for abusing her power.

They have not mentioned a word about the lawsuit filed in the philadelphia court against BO, saying he should not be allowed to run for president, until he provides eveidence to the validility of his birth certificate and citizenship status. No they wont even admit it exists, or the lawsuit filed aginst the BO by Larry Sinclair ( the man he allegdly engaged in homosexual sex with in the back of a limo)

The media is spending all this time interviewing people in Alaska about if they knew she was preg, what kind of mother she was etc…

How about they go to trinity church and the south side of Chicago and interview all the people there about the rampant rumors about Obamas homosexual affair with former church member Donald Young, and the fact he was mysteriously murdered 2 days before Obama announced he was running for president, and about all the cell phone records that exist between the Obama campaign and Young right before he was murdered.

They could interview Rev. Manning who is a very popular well known Pastor in Chicago, who said Obamas homosexual affairs with young black men were “common knowledge” in the chicago black community.

The media does not touch any of that stuff, because it does not serve their purpose, but they have no problem going after a teenage preg girl, and a baby with down syndrome if it serves their purpose of helping the messiah.

    • katmandu

Correct. Or they could explore whether or not Palin has been a successful governor.

    • wodiej

and you won’t get a coherent reply from an Obot either. They will just do what Obama and his campaign do best…deflect attention from them and bring up something irrelevant, unimportant and unintelligent about McCain and Palin.

    • ObamaNot

OBOMBA, is the story, his past associations….The media wont touch it, because they hate Conservatives, and the sitting Prez…

If McCain had any association with a terrorist, the media would be all over it…So my conclusion is the media that coverups this story, or wont investigate it, approves of what Ayers did…

OBOMBA must have known of Ayers background, and OBOMBA still went to his house? That is much akin to McCain knowingly going over to Osama Bin Ladens and serving on boards with him…OBOMBA doesnt have scruples, he will serve with a TERRORIST….I like that nickname….OBOMBA….

    • Steve1

A correction…Rev Manning is from New York…Yes, I agree. It is so strange that Joe Biden (Drunk) is offered the VP choice after his son. The Attorney General of Delaware, had Larry Sinclair arrested after his NPC appearance and his SSi benefits cutted.

Now all charges agianst LS have been dropped by the state of Delaware, insufficient evidence. Ummmmmm, where are the MSM??? LS has stated he is sueing bigtime for false imprisonment and arrest. Delaware, Attorney General, DC arresting agencies??? Where is the MSM?? You know what-this is getting interesting.. Wonder what is going to happen next. Oh, yeah, on that Donald Young murder, I read on some other blogs-there is a video of Young’s mother stating that she believes that Mr. Soetoro is involved with her son’s death! NE, article states that a well connected PI to the CPD, says CPD investigators feel that Soetoro-Obama is connected to the murder??? Yikes, look how long MSM covered the Edwards scandal, the Rev Wright connections to Obama-Soetoro, they had to cover because of the internet. F@@K the corporated controlled MSM>

      • candymarl

The Attorney General involved in the Sinclair case is Biden’s son if I remember correctly.

This is so sad. The country’s in trouble. Our debt is through the roof, people are losing their homes, Cheney’s threatening Russia, we’re fighting two wars, and Sarah Palin’s daughter is the most important story?

Welcome to the US of American Idol.

I say we turn over news reporting to the National Enquirer. It might be an improvement.

  • America OUR Land

When the opposition gets scared they turn to using any unethical and insane tactic they can use to remove attention from the person that has accomplished most.

Sort of reminds me of Mike Tyson getting his butt kicked by Holifield then bitting the hell out of Evander’s ear. Democrats will do anything to win…..In the end they lose their ass.

Barky and his mob are scared shitless of Palin knowing damn well her accomplishments overshadow both Biden and Obama’s combined. Neither Barky or Biden have enough accomplishments to list on shit paper.

I live in Dallas,Texas and until this morning the only person getting attention was Barky, but this morning the Dallas Morning News has negative crap on the front page about Palin’s daughter and husband….Just BS is all it is!!!!!!!!!

    • bert

American Thinker has an excellent article about Palin along the same lines America OUR Land. It is titled Why Palin is a Bee in Dems Bonnet by Kyle-Anne Shiver.

It starts with the quote below Link to full article below quote. It is a good read.

“If you’ve ever seen a lady with a bee in her bonnet, and all the crazy contortions she’ll make to get the darned thing out before it stings her lovely head, you’ll understand precisely why the Democrats are taking such crude swats at Governor Sarah Palin.

Palin may come in a perfectly lovely, innocent-looking package, a bit like a bumble bee resting in the shade on a clover blossom, but when she sees professional politicians getting fat and rich at the public trough, she is immediately transformed into one threatening, buzzing, stinging machine.

Pompous, polished, under-performing Democrat pols meet down-to-earth, mom-of-five, rifle-toting, corruption-shredding, tenacious Governor Sarah, the taxpayers’ best friend.

She’s a bee in their bonnets all right.

And their contortions and swats are coming fast and furious.”

Bristol Palin is OFF LIMITS!! PERIOD! She is not running for office. This only proves that the Palins are a strong family. Teen pregnancy happens, like it or not. It happens in the best of families. Bristol trust her parents love, they are standing by her, what more can loving parents do? This should not be headlines, this is a FAMILY MATTER. Sarah Palin is a strong woman who has proved she is no mans puppet. She stands against the most corrupt politicans in Washington, Stands up against wasteful spending and lobbyist. She will make a GREAT VICE-PRESIDENT !! MACCAIN/PALIN ’08 !

    • pacman

      Give me a break.

Tell me how this woman can POSSIBLY have a demanding job and raise a large brood?

I waited until my 2 children were in high school to even THINK about fast track work.

She has an infant with special needs that require a real mother.

She made the evangelical choice to breed like a rabbit. Now she’s going to abandon these human beings who NEED A F*KING MOTHER?

Along with “no choice for women” comes the responsibility of TAKING CARE of the life that you bring into this world.

The woman is either going to abandon her kids, or abandon her job.

      She needs to bow out.

      • RepublicanChick

I waited until my 2 children were in high school to even THINK about fast track work.

        Good for you.

She made the evangelical choice to breed like a rabbit. Now she’s going to abandon these human beings who NEED A F*KING MOTHER?

Lefties sure are pro-choice, huh? After being at NQ, I will not throw the term Liberal out as you aren’t a Liberal—you’re an idiot.

Along with “no choice for women” comes the responsibility of TAKING CARE of the life that you bring into this world.

          It is weird, isn’t it?
The Right believes in breeding and abandoning the children is fine?

It’s just the idea of controling the breedint that’s a sin.

A kid needing a mother who isn’t there – and when she is is in a state of nervous exhaustion – that’s just fine.

You know that this notion was started by the Catholic church to put more coins in the church collection plate, don’t you?

10 babies = 10 future tithers. More loot for Pope & friends.

        • pacman

How many siblings did you have?
I recently worked with a young lady who had a big photo of her newborn baby on her computer screen. The baby was 4 weeks old and she was in the heart of NYC working full days.
          I don’t approve of that.
If you bring a life into the world, you don’t work the first year, and work half day at most for a few more, and no career till HS.
Not saying your mother was a bad mother.
But I don’t think you should bring a life into this world until you are ready to properly care for it.
This is why I am pro choice. I chose, and am content that I made the right decisions for myself, society, and the children that I did bring into the world.

              • StrawberrybitesBarky

No she did make a choice, it’s you that wants to take her choice away from her. And if you’re soooo progressive, why can’t her husband take care of the children, are you saying real men can’t take care of babies? Well, my man can. Maybe you should get yourself a real man.

                • andySF

Good one. My wife decided to go back for her Master after the birth of my little girl at the age of 35. I am the one basically been taking care of her the past 4 years. It’s funny how all this so call liberal women who can’t find a men who respect them enough to let them live for their highest potential. It take a man and a woman to make a Baby, and these women think that it’s the women who are solely responsible for the raise of the child.

The so call Dem aren’t any different from the Rep. They can’t stand a woman’s ambition, and they can’t stand a woman who’s strong, and they can’t stand a woman who’s principle, and they can’t stand a woman who’s not like them. Pathetic, Really!!!

                  • sproutingly

Well said, andySF. I read somewhere that Mr. Palin takes care of the kids. I guess Pacman wouldn’t approve of that.

You really are one un-informed person aren’t you? So I guess that all of those women out there who have children should just forsake their job also until you say it’s okay for them to take other responsibility. Yep, somehow you seem to think that she shouldn’t have a say because you don’t want her to. Well too darn bad. It’s the 21st century and I’m sure her husband is quite capable and willing to help with the children. After all, he was there to make them.

I did the same for my kids.
I think kids feelings count for something.

            • pasmalltowngirl

Staying home with your children, does not qualify you as a “Good Mother”. I have a neighbor who “stays” home. Her 3 yr old runs the streets, some times in the nude. He has come to my home many times in the cold with nothing but pants and a shirt on, banging on the door, while his mother and father were asleep. The 3 yr old has killed several kittens, gone after my grandson with a sword. He has called me every vulgar 4 letter word you can think of, because I turned them into the humane society. Her 2 older children, aged 10 and 14, have been arrested for burglary. But she is a stay at home mom, so she must be the best.
Being a “GOOD MOM” has nothing to do with whether you work or you don’t work. It has to do with your values, your family values, the values you teach your children, the love and respect you give to your children. You can spend all the time in the world with your children, but if you don’t give and show them unconditional love, you do not qualify as a good Mother.

              • pacman

then some women should just not have kids.

That is why in this country we have Freedom of CHOICE.
Unless Ms. Palin gets a chance to take it away from us.

                • pasmalltowngirl

Yes, we can agree on that, that some women should not have children. But, I disagree that Ms. Palin can or will make that choice for women.

Ah, pacman, so you are a rich person from LA? In the heartland, where BTW most Americans live, most mothers don’t have the option of sitting around the house when their kids are young. They HAVE to work. And so they make arrangements for the care of their children. They take the child to work, or have a relative care for him/her during the day. Or they find a loving daycare center.

Sheesh you sound like a republican Marie Antoinette. Let them eat cake!

What ARE you? You call yourself a progressive? BS.

What friggin’ century have you traveled from – the 19th?

There are millions of mothers that have kids, work all day, sometimes work two jobs, go to college and rear GREAT KIDS – without a father.

Your attacks are going to backfire on you, big time. Palin will be an inspiration to all the women who face these challenges every day. You think just because a working-class woman has a disabled child, that the bills stop? They HAVE to get out there and do the best they can. And so will Palin. Good point.

JFK and FDR were known as womanizers.

      Bill Clinton…..

They were actually in office. Fair game.

Bill got impeached but was not driven from office. In fact, his approval ratings remained high in spite of his messing around. The American people are not as unforgiving of personal issues as the Obamedia would have us believe.

The irony is that at the end of the day, McCain’s VP will be more thoroughly vetted by the media than the Democrat’s Presidential candidate.

      That is terrifying.

  • yttik

I want women especially, to take a good look at Palin and see her as actual person with some real depth. Women can be women’s worst enemies, I hear some of the same things being said about Palin that I heard about Hillary in the beginning. Bimbo, fembot, token woman. “I believe a woman can be president, just not that one. Or that one. Or that one, either.” The standard women hold other women to can be so incredibly high, no woman will ever be good enough.

Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton. She’s not even trying to be. About the only thing the two have in common is their tenacity and their empathy for the people they want to serve. They both view people as human beings, not as demographics, but as real people with real feelings who are entitled to representation by someone who geninely serves them. Serves them, not rules over them.

Annie Oakley is an old hero of mine. I was so angry at Obama for tossing her name out in a disparaging way. As if she was nothing but a bimbo, some starlet who performed for people’s amusement. In reality she was a woman who lived in relative poverty her entire life so she could spend every dime she had paying for the education of young women. Annie Oakley was no bimbo, she was a woman with a servant’s heart who spent her life trying to improve the lives of others.

Every woman is entitled to more then a first glance and instant dismissal. Women, all women, have real depth behind them and are entitled to be seen as more then just pretty face. Or a token woman.

Please remember that when the 527s come out.

By the way, the last 527 that released an ad via the Ayers/Obama connection got this reaction from Obama:

He sent letters threatening every station that played the Ad.

He blamed John McCain who doesn’t control the 527 ads of AIP.

I am disgusted by the media reaction to this story. Sarah Palin is a working mom facing the same hardships and challenges of working moms all over the country. Who is watching the OMighty One’s girls while he is out hoodwinking and bamboozling the American public? What is the Obama nanny paid? Does she/he come from their South Side neighborhood or is she/he a special “agency” nanny? Also, the troopergate story is really a story about domestic violence and how terrifying and difficult it is for women to escape abusive marriages. Sarah Palin’s sister was married to a police man who tasered his 10 year old stepson, and said on tape that he was going to kill his father in law. This is a “scandal” that Sarah Palin thinks he should be fired? Why aren’t the liberals outraged about a police officer abusing his position and weapons – on a 10 year old – and the corrupt town manager wants to keep him on the force to stick it to the Palin family. Domestic violence is a serious and terrible problem in this country. Of course, the media will ignore that side of the story and continue its all to familiar women bashing. A judge in Maryland derided a physician mother in court when she said her husband had mental problems and was threatening to kill their three children. The father was allowed visitation and drowned all three children. Should Sarah Palin allow her sister’s ex-husband to follow through on his threats to her family? Sarah Palin is no shrinking violet. Remember when Obambi called Hillary “Annie Oakley”? Obviously, the media and Obambi can’t stand and are terrified of the real thing.

    • wodiej

this is another situation that glaringly reflects the hypocrisy of the Obama campaign and his goose stepping minions. They never recite the details of the case, only that Palin is involved in some “corruption scandal”. First of all, Palin I’m sure has some enemies in Alaska because she busted them on corruption and ethics. She also doesn’t like government waste. With most politicians that gives you the scarlet letter because they LOVE to waste our money. Anyone who gets in their way is on their shit list. It’s like when Obama’s campaign issued the statement that McCain selected a VP who’s only experience was being the Mayor of a town of 9000. They left out her being a Governor of the entire state.

Obamabots don’t care about honesty, right and wrong, as I’ve said before, they have no moral compass. For all of their blabbering they have become just like the GW crowd. Congratulations bots, you have become what you claim to be against. You’re a bunch of fucking hypocrits and stupid to boot.

  • JM08

Now the media is reporting on the fact that while she was mayor of this small town she hired a lobbyist to help her town get some federal funds. They are not saying it was illegal obviously, but they do say it undermines her image as anti-lobbyist. CMON you are now analyzing every single little politcal decision she has ever made in her life. Obama has not had anything analyzed and that includes his vote to not give health care to infants who are born alive after botched abortions, but they want to bring up some insignificant irrelevant act she did as mayor like 13 years ago. This is past biased newsreporting. The media is totally using a double standard here. Obama has been running for president for 20 months and the nmedia has still not asked him any tough questions or investigated any of the huge baggage he has, yet in 3 days they have managed to tear apart and look in EVERY aspect of this womans life.

  • JM08

The media knew for over a year about John Edwards screwing around on his cancer stricken wife while he was running for PRESIDENT, and they did not say a god damn thing about it, and only finally reported on it after the National Enquirer broke the story, and now they are working 24/7 to try to dig up any dirt they can real or imagined on this woman and her poor children. Jesus fucking christ. She was a REFORMER in Alaska. She cleaned that place up of a whole lot of corruption. Of course if the media goes there they are going to find some corrupt politician that she got rid of to talk about her. That would be like the media going to a prison to find some inmates to find bad things to say about police officers.

Since it is now OK to attack Palin on her abstinence-only sex education programs, when can we start doing the same to Ed Rendell?

Rendell Plans to Ask Feds for $$ for Abstinence-Only Sex Ed.

The Rendell administration is defending its decision to seek $1.7 million dollars in federal funding for abstinence-only sex education programs, which has drawn criticism from progressive groups, including ACT UP.

Even though the Rendell administration has generally spurned funds in the past, Pennsylvania Health Department spokeswoman Claudine Battisti says it doesn’t oppose abstinence programs:

“We just don’t think it should be the only part of sex education.”

But Battista says while it remains committed to its belief in comprehensive sex education, the administration has now decided to allow what amounts to a pass-through of federal dollars to community groups and schools that will have to provide their own matching funds for abstinence-only programs:

“There are people whose moral beliefs, religious beliefs, what have you, really believe this is a viable alternative. So, there are many arguments to this absolutely, but, again, we won’t stand in their way.”

Battisti also says the administration is satisfied that regulations regarding medical accuracy have been tightened.

By the way, how does handing out condoms and teaching sex education in the school affect the pregnancy rate in say, the South Side of Chicago? Has the OMighty one lowered teen pregnancy rates or are 17 year old girls getting pregnant with condoms and school sex ed available? So what if Sarah Palin believes that sex ed should be taught at home – isn’t that every parents right to teach their children about sex? The country could have a huge debate about what reduces teen pregancy rates better. But saying that Sarah Palin is a bad mother because her 17 year old daughter is pregnant is offensive to mother’s everywhere. Ed Schultz was disgusting on CNN last night. But, regardless, at the end of the day, what matters is character and your personal integrity. It remains to be seen what we’ll learn about Gov. Palin but thus far, I’m impressed. She’s no Sen. Obama in so many ways it’s absolutely painful to consider. I can image Sen. McCain, even in one meeting, saying ‘Yes, this is my VP’ while after a similar single meeting with Obama for any topic or purpose, sharing to an aid, ‘Who the hell does he think he is?!’

  • JM08

The latest polls back up what I have been saying. McCain needs to hit back and hit back hard and hit back today. This strategy that he used yesterday to remain completly silent was a big mistake.

People on this site are typical bloggers. You get so caught up in the blog, that you begin to think all of America is on the blogs, when the reality is that the majority of Americans get their news from the media, which is completly biased towards Obama.

Everyone says McCain is doing exactly the right thing by being silent , the republicans are brillant for not defending her, the people will be repulsed by all these attacks.

That is simply just not the world we live in. Obama had a huge day yesterday. He lets his henchmen trash Palin. Then he unlike McCain speakes out and defends her, so he gets to look like the good guy even though he started it in the first place, and then the republicans praise him all over TV thanking him for speaking out, and then Obama ends the evening on Anderson Cooper belittling Sarah Palins experience.Yeah we know how insincere Obama was, but to the majority of Americans he looks like he is taking the high road and doing the honorable thing, and then when running republicans themselves fall all over each other praising Obama it just reinforces it.

I dont know who the hell was advising McCain yesterday, but the republicans handled it very poorly. At this rate Obama could get that 15 point bounce out of the republican convention.

This election is dangerously close to getting out of hand. Obama could very well open up a double digit lead DURING the republican convention if McCain and the republicans dont hit back hard.

Politics is a contact sport. And if the republicans allow the messiah to push them around without pushing back it will be a landslide for Obama.

The old republicans headed by Rove would have already struck back, but just like yesterday the republicans on the morning show have some very weak talking points in defense of Palin. The media is continuing their butchery.

If McCain does not have that fighting spirit anymore, then he should step down and let a republican take his place that is not scared to take Obama on.

    • Indyvoter

McCain is full of the fighting spirit. He picked Palin.

    • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

      JM08-

you sound like the Nervous Nelly Republicans who were uncomfortable with McCain because he wasn’t fighting back hard enough this past spring…

Then came the Celebrity and Love ads

Then came the ads with Dems and HIllary herself praising McCain

      Then came the SAddleback Forum

Then came the ad where Barack himself said he wasn’t ready to lead

Then came the Palin Veep pick that sucked all the air out of the Olympbot’s coronation – and added Ten Million Dollars to McCain’s coffers – in two days.

So what are you worried about exactly?

If McCain does not have that fighting spirit anymore, then he should step down and let a republican take his place that is not scared to take Obama on.

Just send your suggestion on over to the RNC I’m sure they’ll give it the attention it deserves.

    • Skiron

McCain did not want Palin. He wanted either of his good friends Lieberman or Ridge, but he was browbeaten into picking her by his social conservative taskmasters.

      • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

I really liked Ridge, since I benefitted from his tenure as Governor of PA. However, the Palin pick has me energized, as a Republican woman voter this is first chance I’ll get to vote for a woman at the top of the ticket. It makes us (R)s believe that the GOP is moving into the 21c.

Also, as much as I like Gov. Ridge, I don’t think he would have been able to enrich McCain’s campaign by $10MM in four days.

Before you all get so sanctimonious about Sarah, consider the question of how a mother could expose her teen-age daughter to all this intense national scrutiny at a very difficult time in her young life. I agree it is nobody’s business but the Palins and my take on a good mother is that she would not let ambition lure her away from protecting and shielding that child at this time.

Poor Bristol couldn’t catch a break….here’s the scoop on her baby daddy

      Rose,

You seem like a genuine harpy! A genuine and sincere harpy.

It is a great thing that Senator Barack Obama has your heart and talents in his corner, because that means that he has absolutely no way of getting into the Oval Office without a visitor’s pass!

Keep on Keeping on! You are doing no end of great serviceto your country!

      • sproutingly

That’s their new talking point–Sarah is a bad mother for exposing her daughter to the media due to an overweening ambition. While it is terrible that Obama has tried to smear that family, they would have certainly known, judging from his lack of character, that he would do no less and so they were ready. Sarah can take care of herself and her family.

I’m not Bristol’s mother. And I too can stay here, or wherever I want. Last I heard, this IS still America. Oh, and I’m not a fan of Huffington OR Kos. Never took them seriously, but I take this election very seriously. It’s not a game, it’s my future, my children’s future, my grandchildren’s futures.

Perhaps I am judgmental about how seriously people in public life take their parenting responsibilities. It’s usually a good guide to their real character.

        • Steven Mather

If you think Obama turned out great, and you know about his childhood, then why would you think Sarah Palin’s conduct indicates she is a bad mother?

You just pproved the kind of sludge you really are!

Unlike many, in fact an entire party and a majority of a former party could easily be demanding the truth of Obama’s kids really being his or being off springs of Rev Wright, after all Wright does have a knack of using councelling to get into womans panties!

But no one does any of that except for the kinds of low lifes who shrowd themselves around a useless unqualified candidate!

    Doing political math:

Obama -2,000 x 2 (weighted for President nominee.. we are voting for President right, not VP?)

    Biden – 500

    ________________ total equals -4500

    McCain -250 x 2

    Palin – 1000

  • Undecided

I don’t usually comment on this site, but my wife does. She is a big Obama supporter, I am still undecided. I find the views of most of you pretty radical so I wanted to ask you a question. My problem with the Sarah Palin pick has nothing to do with Obama or Palin, it has to do with McCain. He said that he realized his age was a concern for some so he would pick a VP who was ready on day one. He also said that the safety of this country was his number one concern.

So here’s my question. Without mentioning Obama or McCain, can someone please tell me how Palin is qualified to defend this country on day 1?

    • pacman

      More qualified than Obama.
At least she actually accomplished something during a short career.
Although I have to say that string of “Presents” Obama left behind is pretty damned impressive.

      • Undecided

Can’t do it without mentioning Obama huh?

        • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

          yeah you’re very undecided.

          Next.

        • Steven Mather

          undecided,

Your question is important and deserves consideration. It lacks a bit of context, however, because it appears to presuppose that McCain, Biden, and Obama are qualified, which is not a given, because each candidate is not qualified to do so according to some people.

Your request works, if you reciprocate. This is because Obots commonly demand information, which they disregard once it is posted, which you might not know because you are new here.

Please provide this site with your evidence that Obama is qualified to defend America on Day One and then some advocate of McCain/Palin will return the favor. Thank you for your good question.

          SM

        • StrawberrybitesBarky

I’m guessing you’ve never been to Alaska. It’s a huge state, with the longest coastline of any state that bucks up against Canada and at one point along the Aleutian Chain is just a few miles from Russia. It has vast natural resources and an populace very diverse and frankly a little difficult to govern. Alaskans have a stubborn streak and don’t take kindly to outsiders (lower 48ers) telling them what to do. For me (a tranplanted sourdough) when I hear she has an 80 percent approval rating…well that alone says a lot. We’re a normally jaded group that thinks all politicians are corrupt and self serving…like Obama. Oh and no Alaskans are not a bunch of uneducated rednecks. When I lived there we had the highest per capita number of college educated.

    • http://dontcallmesweetie.blogspot.com/ Blu

I’m not sure who would have the practical knowledge to defend our country on day one except perhaps a high ranking military officer or someone who has occupied the Whitehouse in a time of war. For a politician I would say the most important thing would be a love for the country to the extent of being willing to sacrificing your own life in it’s defense.
Neither Palin nor Biden have been in the position to prove their willingness to died for our country. Biden received five student draft deferments and Palin, being a woman, could not serve her country in a combat role.

    • apark59

Gov. Pallin is running as the VP, so it’s not necessary for her to run this country on Day 1, that’s McCain’s job. McCain will pick the cabinet, set the agenda and it’s the VP’s job to be president of the Senate, break ties, go to funerals, etc. Cheney has set a precedent with his power grab as VP, but that’s not the norm and McCain is not the not to delegate his Presidential reponsibilities to the #2. The VP is in a position to learn how the Office of the President works. In the event that something happens to the President while in office, the cabinet, agenda and other necessities are already in place.

I’m not uncomfortable with Pallin as VP because she does know how the to manage a government (although on a much smaller scale). She does bring executive expertise to the job and seems capable of learning.

    • Heather

It’s hard to answer your question without comparing her to SOMEONE who’s been considered qualified in the past. So, let’s take Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton who were governors with little to no foreign policy experience. What qualified THEM? Palin’s state borders on two foreign countries, which theirs did not.

You, and people like you who want to criticize her, had better take a nice long look at how you respond to women in general. Her voice register and her mannerisms may be sending you signals that cloud your ability to assess her actual qualifications.

Also, keep in mind, no President has yet died on day one. Yes, it could happen in theory, but the likelihood is indistinguishable from zero. On the other hand, we have that-person-we-cannot-name who has to be actually, you know, READY on day one.

    • Mr. Natural

So here’s my question. Without mentioning Obama or McCain, can someone please tell me how Palin is qualified to defend this country on day 1?

  • candymarl

So let me get this straight. Any woman with a child or children should never run for political office because that makes the children “fair game”.

Well, it’s official. The feminist rhetoric of the Democratic Party all these years was just that – rhetoric.

A man with children can run for office. A woman should stay home.

It’s through the Looking Glass, Alice.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/06/21/lesson-for-the-day-pumas-can-sneak-up-on-you/#more-3176 Rose

Neither a man or woman with a pregnant unmarried teenager ought to be seeking the second-highest office in the land during a time when that teenager should be shielded from having her name tossed around the entire country. Yes, it applies to all parents. On this one, I turn in my feminist card if need be. The Mother card trumps it. Every time.

      • Heather

Oh that’s great. So let’s see, it’s ok to run with a non-pregnant teenage daughter? How about a teenage son? And presumably it’s ok, because any attacks THESE innocent individuals might endure are fair game?

And what if said daughter gets pregnant during the race? Then you should drop out? What if said son impregnates someone or drives a car while drunk? What if said son is gay? Hm … I think I know of one obvious example.

So now all candidates are accountable for the past, present, and future behaviors of all family members? Or is it just teenage pregnant family members?

        • sproutingly

Chelsea was not a pregnant teenager and by all accounts was a model teenager. The media still went after her viciously. It doesn’t matter if the kid is good or bad, they will be trashed. Just look at Chelsea. So maybe anyone with minor kids shouldn’t run for office?

        • http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/06/21/lesson-for-the-day-pumas-can-sneak-up-on-you/#more-3176 Rose

It is wrong to be so ambitious that you subject your pregnant teen to the glare of national attention. What words don’t you understand?

This issue isn’t about Bristol. It’s about her mother’s good sense and about John McCain’s judgment. I find the former tasteless; the latter reckless.

          • stodghie

rose, you are such a pathetic judgmental, mean spiritied self righteous fraud, i almost am laughing at you.

      • sproutingly

All candidates kids are “fair game”. If it wasn’t a pregnancy then they would have focused on some other flaw to demean her. Come off it. Look what the press did to Chelsea Clinton. You are full of it.

  • I Will Remember in November

Most young people have sex for the forst time at age 17.

Nearly a third of teen pregnanices end in abortion.

Black women have the highest teen pregnancy rate, followed by hispanics and non-hispanic whites.

Between 1990 and 2000, the pregnancy rate among black teens decreased 40% more than the overall US pregnancy rate (36%),

Two things what is the problem with donna brazile exploiting sarah’s daugther’s pregnancy when obama’s large and all consuming african american base is the gold standard in this unfortunate stat.
Second, the she is keeping the baby. Does the dnc avocate that she should have secretly had an abortion and nobody would be none the wiser? If you are pro choice, she chosed to have the baby…move on.

Here’s one small link to Palin’s foreign policy experience. Apologies if it’s a repeat:

    http://www.usglobalengagement.org/ForeignPolicySnapshotofMcCainsVP/tabid/3064/Default.aspx

  • DeniseMN

For those who say that Governor Palin is wrong for exposing Bristol to the national press. Bristol is having the baby either way. If her mother had decided not to run because of her daughter’s situation, than Bristol would probably feel a lot of guilt because she would blame herself. If the ticket loses- Bristol is probably going to blame herself as well.

So we need to make sure that McCain/Palin wins!

I Sarah Palin bows out- does anyone think the press will lay off? NO WAY

If Sarah decided not to run, someone would probably have leaked it anyhow and they still would have attacked her. The MSM would have questioned and said that McCain’s judgement is bad because he even considered her. Believe it.

One positive thing about all this is that people’s eyes are finally opening to how disgraceful our fourth estate has become.

  • DeniseMN

Why is Palin ready to defend the country on Day 1?

First of all, McCain will pick and excellent cabinet and group of advisors. If he does die and Palin becomes president she will have a lot of people helping her. No one truly leads alone.

Anyone can get experience and talk the talk. But Governor Palin has a good character and that can’t usually be learned.

Can she be president on day 1. Of course.
