Take the “Democratic Party” off of Life Support: It is Brain Dead

Do people have any idea how exhausting it is to have to defend women from the constant torrent of sexism and misogyny? But no matter how exhausting, it is our principles as progressives which are under assault. We have to defend women, even in 2008. McEwan makes the point clearly:

I cannot walk away from misogyny for a moment, and so I cannot for a moment walk away from feminism, either. I cannot set it aside any more than I can set aside my womanhood. No — I will not. The choice is mine, and I choose to face the world equipped at all times with the only tool of self-defense I have against inequality. Feminism is my sword and my shield, which I carry because the world is hostile to me, not the other way around.

It’s painful to write about the sexism and misogyny that poisons the very air we breathe.

When Olbermann, Matthews, Shuster, Dowd, Sullivan and the many other excretory organs of the media wagged their nasty tongues about Hillary, we learned that the networks and publishing houses believed that attacks on women were fair game, indeed good business.

And that was BEFORE John McCain selected Sarah Palin to be his VP. Since then, the Bots, the Bloggers and the Fauxgressives have gone totally batshit crazy, making the most heinous accusations and despicable comments one can imagine. As TGW write:

Misogyny Watch: Liberal Bloggers Sink to New Low, Reveal Sarah Palin’s Teen-Age Daughter is Pregnant. Thanks to the ‘progressive’ kossack creeps and their followers, all of Bristol’s friends and acquaintances know that the girl is 5 months pregnant. I can’t even imagine how it feels to be 17 and have the intimate details of your private life — the news of your pregnancy! — splashed all over the internet, the newspapers and the cable news channels.

And these people call themselves Democrats. For example, so-called “Democrat” Taylor Marsh compares Palin to Clarence Thomas, Dan Quayle and Barbie, and then writes:

Elevating women the likes of Palin to being one step away from commander in chief, but not calling this affirmative action selection in go-go boots, diminishes all women of real competency.

Considering Marsh as the source, this is even more ironic than it sounds. Not only was Marsh herself involved in beauty pageants and the porn industry, she once decried the sexism against Hillary but quickly flipped when the winds changed. Fighting sexism was convenient when Hillary was a candidate; now she perpetuates ugly stereotypes against an incredibly successful sitting governor. Additionally, Marsh supports Barack Obama, a man who has zero executive experience, no important legislation with his name on it, no foreign policy experience, and no discernible ideology, other than himself. Indeed, about all Obama has ever done is writes books about Barack Obama. And she has the gall to attack a self-made woman like Sarah Palin? Further examples come from the blogger boyz; you know, the so-called progressives who have co-opted the party. TGW write:

The ‘progressive’ men are actually counting the months of the woman’s pregnancies! That’s right folks. The formerly progressive netroots is trying to bring Sarah Palin down by proving that she is a slut! The menz over at Americablog (and followers) fervently hope to prove that one of Sarah Palin’s children was conceived “out of wedlock!”

In addition to how the children at Daily Kos (mentally, if not physically) first claimed that Palin’s daughter gave birth to Trig, they now have s a poll so you can vote on how soon Palin will withdraw from the ticket, and this post:

Sarah Palin Candidacy Death Watch

Followed by this comment:

This should have been titled: “Sarah Palin Candidacy Death Rattle.” Much more effective than “Death Watch”….

by CryptoPolitico

Sarah Palin gets her own page at Huffington Post. She must be a terrible threat to these so-called progressives. After suggesting that Palin is the new Thomas Eagleton and will drop out before the election, Richard Gizbert writes:

But only the most gender-militant, Obama-hating Hilary Girl would have considered voting for this republican ticket anyway.

Yes we will. Dean, Pelosi, Brazile and other leaders have so corrupted the Democratic Party that it is no longer viable. Obama must be defeated so we can purge the party of the anti-American ideologues and the arrogant neo-liberals whose disdain toward the working class, their disrespect of women, their hubris on national security and their disregard of the economic needs of the middle-class, undermines our democratic values. The Democratic Party MUST lose this election in order to redeem itself. What was PumaPac and is now called “the New Democratic Party” has this on their website:

Goodbye Howard Dean. Goodbye Barack Obama. Goodbye Nancy Pelosi. Goodbye Donna Brazile. You have not only lost the White House for the Democratic Party. Today you have brought the Democratic Party to the brink of irrelevancy altogether. John McCain has played you all like a piano.

As a result of the corruption, new groups are popping up: (be sure to read Dr. Lynette Long’s on Caucus Fraud), and PUMAs remain committed to voting against Obama. (If you haven’t posted on Greta Wire, you still can.) The rule manipulation during the RBC, voter intimidation, shameless race-baiting, and dozens of other forms of coercion and thuggery have destroyed the trust, compassion and equality that formed the hallmarks of our party. That, along with the most outrageous sexism and misogyny, which Obama and his cult have capitalized on, instigated and exploited, have contributed to the jack-booted fascism that has appropriated the name “Democrat.”

Today we say GOODBYE to the OLD Democratic Party. The OLD Democratic Party has led us to DISASTER. John McCain and Sarah Palin will win in November by a landslide.

I plan to help them.

In Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain has found a fellow maverick to be his running mate — one who can help bring the right kind of reform to Washington. Ms. Palin, like Mr. McCain, has a strong record of battling the status quo, restoring accountability and effectiveness to government, and working to secure energy independence, root out corruption and curb wasteful spending.

As the chief executive of the nation’s largest state, Ms. Palin oversees some of the country’s largest energy reserves. She came into office at a critical time in Alaska politics, facing a system plagued by corruption. Her response was to immediately begin cleaning it up. The results of her leadership today speak for themselves: Ms. Palin’s approval ratings top 80% — more than 60% higher than that of the Democratic Congress.

Ms. Palin has a tangible, impressive record of achievement and executive experience. She is head of the Alaska National Guard and the chairman of two multistate agencies that make energy decisions that affect all Americans. While Barack Obama spent almost all of the past two years running for president, Ms. Palin has been running a state.

It’s telling that Sen. Obama chose to give a negative, partisan speech at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He envisions a Democratic monolith in Washington that will solve all of our problems.

But Ms. Palin knows that real change doesn’t come from rigid adherence to party lines. She has transformed her state’s government from what she called a “good ol’ boys network” to an accountable, successful system. Like Mr. McCain, Ms. Palin realizes that the problem isn’t a Republican administration or a Democratic Congress. It’s business as usual in Washington.

Ms. Palin’s experience in reforming Alaskan government shows she’s ready to lead on the national stage. She stood up to members of her own party who abused their power, risking her political career by protesting ethics violations. Ms. Palin went on to pass ethics reform. She has put the people’s interests ahead of her own — like Mr. McCain.

A McCain-Palin administration will not tolerate pork-barrel spending. In Washington, Mr. McCain spoke out against the “Bridge to Nowhere,” a $400 million waste of the taxpayers’ money that led to an island with a few dozen residents. In Juneau, Alaska, Ms. Palin made sure the bridge went nowhere, canceling the earmark. She wasn’t afraid to use her veto pen, and Mr. McCain won’t be either.

In a state where energy production is a top priority, Ms. Palin is an expert in the field. She has never shied away from challenging the influence of big oil companies, all the while fighting for the development of new energy resources. Ms. Palin worked with Democrats and Republicans to institute a rebate that used the state’s vast oil revenues to help offset the high costs of fuel and heating in the state.

Ms. Palin has been a leader in the fight for American energy independence. Like Mr. McCain, she understands that we need an “all of the above” solution to secure our energy future. Her influence extended far beyond Alaska as she recently pushed through a gas pipeline project that will bring new supplies and lower prices to the lower 48 states.

Just last month, meanwhile, the Democrats running Congress went on vacation rather than vote to allow offshore drilling, which would reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Beyond ethics and energy, Ms. Palin shares Mr. McCain’s passion for conservation. Mr. McCain often speaks of his admiration for Theodore Roosevelt, a conservationist and sportsman who surely would have enjoyed Ms. Palin’s company. She grew up hunting and fishing in Alaska, and she understands the importance of responsible stewardship of our environment.

All women should be proud of Mr. McCain’s selection of Ms. Palin as his running mate, an historic moment that came the week of the 88th anniversary of women’s earning the right to vote. Sarah Palin will break through the glass ceiling that, as she noted on her first day as the vice presidential nominee, has 18 million new cracks thanks to Hillary Clinton.

    Loved this article!

Obama and his band of sexist cheerleaders are looking like the politics of the past more and more every hour! Pathetic! They indict themselves by their ludicrous negative attacks and hypocrisy!

  • Ferd McBerfle

Nope. Those who support him and those who did nothing to stand in his way constitute the former Democratic party. I will not vote for a Democrat again until the entire party apparatus is dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up.

  • Felix Rodriguez

Thanks for calling out Taylor Marsh, who also referred to Gov. Palin as “arm candy.” So disappointing – I used to visit her site daily, but when I saw the way she turned on Palin with girl-on-girl misogyny, I removed her from my bookmarks.

Palin and I differ on some social beliefs but I have great respect for her as someone who has done REAL work (can you picture Obama trying to survive one hour on deck as a commercial fisherman?) Not to mention that she does NOT have Ivy League credentials but is a true self-made working-class American who got into politics not by jetsetting to the top with a fawning media but by by rolling up her sleeves in her own small town. By all accounts she -is- a real maverick who challenged her own party to clean up its act, and who while being pro-industry also forced that industry to pay its fair share for infrastructure and the common good. And of course no one gives her credit for being a mother, something all people and certainly all women should respect.

If this year’s reactionary hatred and powerlust is the real Democratic Party, then I’m proud to now be registered “n/a”.

  • IronMan

Obama’s “Democratic” Party is out of touch with America. It represent the sexist politics of the past. And the f’n media propels it. The more they attack, the more they look like the cowards they are.

Make the real Nazis pay. Remember Jeremiah, remember Ayers, and remember in November.

I have several female friends who say they are not impressed with Sarah Palin (personally, I think it is snobbery, ignorance, residual Dem. Party loyalty, etc.), but they are incensed at this fixation on pregnancy and her daughter, which is out-of-bounds for them.

Obamacrats can keep going after Palin at their own peril. I believe it will backfire. I believe she will be the sleeper surprise that will blossom positively, while Rezko, Ayers, al-Mansour, al-Khalili, Auchmi, Wright, citizenship, missing records, missing friends who will be identified, ACORN, and other goodies about Obama will/and are starting to reveal themselves. There is just too much detritus flying around out there.

  • roseeriter

Sorry but The obamacrats and his supporters are just as corrupt and wrong as the right wingers for Bush with voter fraud, misogyny sexism, racism the lies cheating etc., etc., We had one coke addict-Bush we don’t need another one -Obama_ and for me, until a Major Democrat steps up to the plate and Stops this insanity of the Bamabots dems need to suffer. Just like they made 18million voters suffer.

  • J. Smith

The misogynist left thinks it has scored with its attacks on Palin — little do they know the backlash headed their way.

The sexist and hateful vitriol used against Clinton by the radical left is becoming ever clearer – many more now see the trend and will rally to Palin.

Perhaps an off topic question but one worth looking at as I think it applies in the big picture re: biased, sexist news coverage, especially by CNN and MSNBC.

How is the best way to boycott CNN and MSNBC and stick it to them until it hurts their pocketbook?

Other than not watching their biased coverage, any other ideas/suggestions/thoughts?

I really hope Hillary makes a atatement about this! I would love to hear that “Shame on you, senator Obama!” that we heard in the primary. I have no idea why she doesn’t put country before party and if she sits quietly, well, I will have to turn my back on her, too!

I see the problem a little differently. Obama, Dean, Pelosi, et al are like a cancer…A surgeon removes the cancer but tries not to kill the patient. Unless you are a member of the upper economic 1%, putting the Republicans in total control of the government would be a very bad idea, IMO.

  • http://chriss chris

Fox news right now is interviewing a McCain person about how the polls for undecideds have swung towards Obama as of today. If the MSM doesn’t get some of the garbage about Obama out to the public then McCain is going to lose. It is pathetic that people are hearing about a 17 yer old kid, a 22 yr old DUI and Sarah fished without a license and not about the horrible past Obama has led. Not to mention that he still hasn’t released any of his missing paper work re medical, school, birth cert. passports time in Indonesia, time in pakistan and on and on and his many past friends who are criminals. This is important stuff to qualifying to be Pres. and NOT ONE MEDIA OUTLET is reporting any of it. How about the videos of Mr. Drunk Biden? How about the arrest of his daughter or the legal troubles of his son? He’s got 36 years of junk to go thru and find stuff about him, not to mention his family since families are no longer off limits. W.Ayres is a terrorist but that’s ok. Just make sure you get your fishing license. Wow we thought it was bad when they were beating on Hillary and not vetting OB. It’s 10 times worse now and they are winning because the public only hears the tabloid parts of the story, the lies and distortions and deflections. Repubs better get down and dirty and show some muscles here. There isn’t much time left. My nightmares are coming true if Obama continues to look like the teflon man and gets away with everything. That’s their plan: protect him by changing the subject and it’s working because the MSM is going right along with it. Eddie Haskell come to mind anyone over 45? Man I’m pissed.

The Democratic Party denigrates its own voters by assuming we’re too stupid to see the difference between Palin and Obama.

Palin stood against her own party’s corruption in her own state.

Obama NEVER stood against Chicago corruption or DNC corruption, but used it for his own personal gain.

I think we can ALL see who really represents “change.”

And Donna Brazille saying Pali’s children are “fair game?”

That’s not the Democratic Party I knew.

I will be an Independent until the day I die, thanks to the guttersnipe named Donna Brazille.

  • ford

I read several places that Palin supported Forbes, not Buchanan.

  • Katherine B.

I am sickened by what I am watching and reading as the feeding frenzy continues over Gov. Palin. The now “vigilant” media which is deconstructing every aspect of her and her family’s life, STILL can’t bring itself to look into ANY allegations about the Democratic Presidential nominee. So when Obama laughingly says he is more experienced to be president because of how he has managed his campaign budget compared to her budget as a MAYOR, the media clowns willfully do not point out that the budget she manages as GOVERNOR is much larger.

Sadder than the selection of a completely unqualified Barack Obama as the Democrat’s nominee is the utter corruption of the main stream media. Remember these are the boys (and wanna be boys) who were so thrilled at being embedded with the troops that they signed on wholeheartedly for the war in Iraq. Without a viable, neutral, investigative media the country is in terribly dire straits.

And where is the chorus of feminist voices (NOW, Feminist Majority, NWPC) to challenge and decry what is happening to a perfectly competent woman governor with just as much experience as Gov. Kaine, who was on Obama’s short list?

The recent attacks against Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, are just another example of misogyny. Someone who attacks the mechanics of any woman’s pregnancy while refusing to castigate the men who join women in having sex before marriage is a hypocrite and is perpetuating attacks on women. Furthermore, it is asinine to call a woman’s right of choice a private issue and off limits in discussion and then revert to good ole New England Puritanism about a young woman having sex before marriage. All women and any self-respecting man should publicly and vocally call this double standard out and come to the defense of Sarah Palin and her daughter!

“Notwithstanding the nonsense of the chattering class, the Democratic primary was never a gender-versus-race competition. It was always about who would best lead America in a time of war and economic uncertainty, as well as who could best bring about needed change and a new direction. Obama won his party’s nomination not because of his race or even despite his race. He didn’t run on race: He ran the race. Obama won the race because people believed he could steer the ship of state in a new direction toward a better tomorrow.”

“For reasons too long to list, Obama won the Democratic nomination. People can disagree until the end of time whether he should have, whether he deserved to, whether he’s experienced enough, whether he’s ready – and that’s fine. People can debate all they like. In a democracy, we have the right to express ourselves. But every time I read my e-mail and get more threatening letters from some (not all) former Clinton backers who are contemplating backing McCain, I am reminding them not to blame sexism for her defeat.”

In the long run maybe it is better that they go ahead and take their shots and that the complicit media make the case for why Sarah Palin is lower than dirt. Get it all out. Then the other team gets the ball and we’ll see what Palin can do. If she is as good as many of us think and such a threat to Obama, she will come back fighting and we’ll see who middle America identifies with.

From the beginning, this election was fated to be a referendum on Obama. He can divert the attention for awhile. He can run but he can’t hide. There is a lot to come out on Obama. I don’t know exactly how much but out of Wright and Rezko, Ayers and Farrakahn, Indonesia and Pakistan, citizenships and name changes, drug use and whitey tapes, I have little down there is more than enough to sink him. And don’t tell me it’s not there because it made no sense for it to come out until he was safely nominated.

And remember this: of course the media is in bed with him but the media is a big whore! In the end they care about nothing but the story and if the story means eating one of their own they will savage Obama the first time some real blood is in the water. If I am wrong in my belief that he will lose by historic proportions I may give up on politics forever. But that’s not going to happen!

Today, I wrote strong letters to NARAL and NOW telling them how I felt about them not entering the fray and standing up for women’s rights. The letter let them know that Obama’s camp is getting away with sexism and attacks on an innocent 17 year old girl via the news, on the blogs, etc., and these attacks were DEFINITELY coming from Obama supporters whom seemed to think it was the Middle Ages; that I was no longer going to support their causes; that I was going to vote for John McCain since there is no sexism talk coming from the Republicans, and that if Roe v Wade fell, there was no one to be blamed but the people who allowed this insanity to run unchecked! Especially from people who are supposed to stand up for women’s rights and whom I’ve supported for years.

I now feel much better after letting off a lot of steam. My next round of letters will be to sponsors of those horrid news channels who think attacking a 17 year old girl is fun! So, tomorrow or Thursday, I’ll dive back into the sludge and get some sponsor names. It may not do a lot of good, but it’s a great catharsis!

Former Senator John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, have canceled a scheduled appearance at Salem State College, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts school said Tuesday.

The Sept. 23 event, scheduled before Edwards admitted to an extramarital affair with a woman who filmed videos in advance of his failed 2008 Democratic presidential campaign, had been billed as a “conversation with John and Elizabeth Edwards.”

Karen Cady, a spokeswoman for Salem State, said that no specific reason was given for the cancellation, and it was not clear whether the Edwards would come at a later date.

“At this point, we don’t know,” Cady said. “But we are in the process of securing an alternative speaker for the fall.”

Friday, Edwards confirmed a similar speaking engagement scheduled for Sept. 8 at Hofstra University. The speakers’ agency representing him, however, informed Hofstra that Elizabeth Edwards would not be accompanying him as previously planned.

Oh no. I’ve been planning on voting out the downticket Dems in my state for months. The governor signed the bill that moved up our primaries and our mayor is stealing us blind. Unfortunately, I liked a few of them but they stood by while the corruption in my state multiplied. I think its indicative of the current party elite.

  • Shiloh

I think someone else senses that too and that’s the reason for the frantic attempt to kill it before it grows.

  • Duras

Don’t aweat the polls now. McCain is well within striking distance and there’s a LONG way to go until Election Day.

For sure, I will pull the lever all the way down. I wish I could take all my votes back that I blindly threw toward the dems way without thinking twice in the past.

I already sent Jeff Bingaman, D New Mexico a message telling him that because he is supporting Obama and did not speak out about the way Hillary was treated by the DNC, that he has lost my vote. I send him this message at least once a week. I also told Bill Richardson was a sorry excuse he is……I will vote a straight Republican ticket. I may not be able to do much, but I will do what I can, it’s a mistake to do nothing.

  • Dave_Not_For_Racist_Obambi

What I would like to see in Palin’s speech is her drilling home the fact that she got a multi billion dollar pipline bill enacted, while Obambi’s biggest accomplishment would have been spending over $100 million dollars along side the terrorist Ayers.

The kicker, an independent organization determined that Ayers + Obambi’s spending of that $100 million DID NOT improve education in Chicago.

It was how ever a good slush fund for Ayers + Obambi to further their political aspirations, SHAME SHAME!

Now why can’t CNN’s Campbell Brown not make strange faces(mocked laughing Palin) and go balistic about Obambi + Ayers + $100 million, I dare her, she won’t, we know why, in the tank for Obambi. SHAME SHAME!

That’s EXACTLY right, Shiloh. Let the Dems and their major media allies do their absolute worst to try and denigrate Gov. Palin. Then when she shines on stage Wednesday night and the real story of her life starts to come out, it will make the slimers look weaker and pettier than anything else possibly could.

Americans respect fair play and we absolutely love an underdog. The far left’s overt attempts at sliming Palin are setting her up perfectly for a huge rebound.

Rasmussen, Gallup, and Quinnipac poll more DEMOCRATS, than REPUBLICANS AND INDEPENDENTS.
So the polls are NOT accurate. Dukaisis was leading Bush Sr by 20% around this time and lost. Gore and Kerry were leading G.W around thiis time and lost. Voters starts to get decisive around late September- midOctober after debates. Obama will enter the debates with NO substance just slogans. Dont fret.

I also watched Rove’s face–it’s like in the Lord of the Flies when Simon sees the pig’s head on a stick with the grin. But even with Rove behind it I’ll never vote for BO–McCain and Palin all the way–because the Dems are dead to me, not one of them even now is saying anything about the sexist hatred spewing out, if this were racist comments it would be so different. And all the obots who try and use the tired old arguments of women’s rights need to be thrown into the ninth circle of hell with all the hypocrites. Now we know that not having a penis is worse than what the color of your skin is, John Lennon was right.

Taylor Marsh strikes me as someone who talks out of both sides of her mouth to get her bills paid. She claims to be DEMOCRAT and hides behind that identity as she watches and contribute to the very thing she railed against during the primary. So, without really seeing Sarah as a mother, a woman and leader, she’d already painted her as irrelevant and ‘arm candy’. What a shame.

  • Irish1139

What about Andrea Mitchell, Brown, and Maddow. What rock did they crawl out from under? God, women are their own worst enemies. They don’t have to support Palin politically but they can at least show some respect when they speak about her. They make me sick to my stomach especially Mitchell.

  • Diana

I’m only downticketing those that he brought and paid for, that sold themselves out. Those that backed him when according to how the people voted were supposed to get behind Hillary. I will not be voting for Boxer again, her appearance at a KOS rally, now the things she’s said this year. I will vote for Feinstein. I need to look how the rest did and start hitting the polling forums here. Voicing how much Obama gave them to get their backing. I know there were several here in CA that put their support behind Obama when Hillary won the votes. They now have to go.

Obama: I Have More Executive Experience Than Palin(uh hmm uh uh hmm NOPE)
Speaking on a cable news channel Monday night, the Democratic presidential nominee said he is better prepared to handle a disaster like Hurricane Gustav because of his pursuit of the White House.

“Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years,” Obama said.

John McCain’s spokesman called the suggestion “laughable.

The problem isn’t necessarily with the perpetrators, Dean and Brazile, et al., because they will be canned after the GE. The real problem lies with those who stood around with their hands in their pockets shrugging and holding up the walls. They’ll do it again and again because they lack a spine. The entire leadership must go, the DNC, the Rules Committee, the Speaker and her second, the Senate Majority Leader and his second, down the list. To do otherwise, IMO, would represent only a fleeting fix. This mess wasn’t made by just the usual suspects.

  • catherine

Let us not forget Obama claims himself that he was abandoned by his father. From what I understand abandonment does some real serious long lasting damage to one’s personality (Narcissistic maybe?) and that without alot of therapy it can be problematic for a lifetime. Do we want such an emotionally volatile and/or unstable person as president? I would hope not.

That is the truth. I called, wrote and begged my representatives asking them to speak out in defense of Hillary, but never a word.

I was told that Amy Klobuchar D-MN and Senator Clinton were good friends and it was unfair of me to say mean things about Amy for not standing up for Hillary and the democratic voters of MI and FL. Then I was told I couldn’t call her Senate office any more because this was a campaign issue. Only to see her on National television out on the Capital steps with a group of “Female Senators for Obama” or what ever they called themselves. Then just lately I found out she took money for her support, just like the rest of the sell outs.

However, question the fitness for high office of an actual politician (rather than a politician’s wife) and all of a sudden faux outrage is the order of the day.

PS Can there be any greater lack of patriotism than membership of the Alaskan Independence Party, which wants to secede from the Union. Why does Sarah Palin hate America?

    So Taylor Marsh says,

“Elevating women the likes of Palin to being one step away from commander in chief, but not calling this affirmative action selection in go-go boots, diminishes all women of real competency.”

What is this world coming to? Nobody in the family has a law degree!!! I can see why Taylor is so upset.

But on the other hand, it takes exceptional backbone, guts, and brains to take on official corruption and come out on top. And the Governor is the commander of the Alaska National Guard, not to mention the chief executive of a complicated bureaucracy.

I’m confused. Maybe Taylor is saying that Alaska doesn’t really count as a State, so elected officials from Alaska don’t really count in Washington. Or is she saying, you don’t count unless you’re a man?

Tch, tch, tch. Taylor, Taylor, Taylor. Shame on you! I mean….REALLY…SHAME ON YOU!!!!

  • Diana

But, why would we downticket those that stuck it out with Hillary? Does anyone have a list? If some SD’s got behind Obama because he won the popular vote in those districts, they did what they were supposed to do. Even if we don’t agree with it. That wouldn’t be right to me to downticket them, that would be lowering ourselves to their level. Especially if they have done a good job, to punish them for doing what they were supposed to do? It’s the corrupt ones we need to go after. Someone has to have a complete list, other than the youtube video. Then we have to go after the leaders.

  • run_dmc

I had been on the fence as to whether I would leave the top of the ticket blank or not, but after the last 48-72 hours, I am voting Republican all the way. For one, as a resident of WA State, I am incensed that my governor – another female 1-term gov who I think is much more qualified to be president than Obama – is not speaking out in defense of her female colleague. Despite being a Dem. Gregoire could say, as a woman governor and a mother, I can disagree – even vehemently with the policies of Gov. Palin – but I am apalled by my fellow dems engaging in the personal attacks on her intelligence and at her family, particularly her teen daughter.

Not only is Gregoire not saying a peep, but neither are either of the female senators in my state or any other dem elected officials. So, none of them get my vote. (They also did not come to Clinton’s defense either).

What I can’t abide is that, after doing not a damn thing for two years in Congress, and taking “impeachment off the table” for the criminals Bush and Cheney, dems now are going to get payback on the backs of a teenage girl becuase her mom is a republican – they are all disgusting!

One thing I would caution though about leaving the top of the ticket blank when voting if you can’t vote for McCain or a third party. I would not put it past Obama to contest every state’s vote and claim that if people voted for down tickets dems, but left the presidential ballot blank that they REALLY must have meant to vote for him but forgot.

I think we should spread that word because a lot of people are saying they are going to leave the top blank.

I was talking with a friend of mine about Gov. Palin last night. We agree she is an excellent choice for a myriad of reasons. Among them is the fact that her candidacy keeps the discussion about sexism and misogyny going. Now that the smokescreen of “Hillary Bashing” is no longer available to hide behind (this will be particularly difficult for guys like Alex Castellanos over at CNN who thinks its okay to hate women if you think they’re a bitch), the public ought to be able to call the sexism for what it is, but not so fast. My colleague, a second waver who has no problem calling it like it is, has decided that what has been uncovered with the Palin nomination is not sexism or misogyny. It’s gynophobia; fear of the vagina.

Perhaps deep in their hearts these assholes in the media are afraid of the vagina. Perhaps they have visions of a snaggletoothed beastie clamping down and removing their useless parts, or seeing themselves wetting their pants and impotently wailing like babies for their mommas.

Whatever it is, they just can’t stand it. Personally I think it’s hypocritical for people who out front profess that a woman should be able to “do it all,” but when a woman doing it all…raising a family, having an active career (a powerful one at that), gunning down moose and cooking it, etc they freak out, “SHE SHOULDN’T BE DOING THAT SHE HAS CHILDREN TO RAISE!”

Meanwhile the Republicans are praising the Palins for embracing their daughter and standing behind her, and from what I’ve been hearing and reading they don’t seem to have a problem with this mother of five taking her place in the political realm.

If you thought shit was upside down in the primaries, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Two things at least have remained constant: The MSM remains largely useless, and Obama is still a raging asshole. At least we have that to hang on to through this madness.

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

    Medusa:

Jeralyn @ TL has also been pushing the Thomas Eagleton analogy and taking bets on “when Sarah Palin will drop out”.
The Opinionator at the NYT seems to have written about her posts

    http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/9/2/153132/3897

TL has been Palin almost 24/7; so much obsession that
BTD, disgusted, took a break out of it until next week…To be fair, Jeralyn@TL has prohibited any comments of a personal nature on Palin and her family: kudos for that.

But, TL seems to be pushing the same talking points that are “misteriously” appearing simultaneously everwhere on the left blogs and MSM.

In talking about Palin’s “inexperience” she wrote:

Barack Obama may have been in a similar place 17 months ago, but since then, he’s been briefed by experts daily on every facet of government and had his knowledge tested through more than a dozen debates. No matter how quick a study Palin is, she can’t catch up in 60 days, not on the economy, foreign policy, national security, the justice system, health care.

She also said that Obama is “now the second most vetted candidate in history.”

    I find this amazing…..

  • ablebodied

I just realized something that is so obvious but not a given…it’s no point in getting mad at olberman, matthews-rachel or chris, brown, cooper, mitchell…etc. because they are only doing what they are told to do. Not that they are not to be held responsible for the words that come out of their mouths but…suppose they quit. All of them!!! Six and seven figure salaries, notoriety, a bit of prestige… all are not that easy to come by, even moreso for folks who really want it and will do soulless things for it. They would be replaced easy as pie. The people in charge, the ones dictating what the theme and focus of the network is going to be, are still going to be there. They need to go…or at least do less harm. Who are they? How can their decisions be influenced by folks like me who see the mouths that produce the vomit as only responding to the virus well embedded in their gut. Sorry for the graphic metaphor. Just me ranting…and questioning.

You’ve got that right. These are the same “journalists” who extolled the virtues of the Patriot Act and the War in Iraq; neglected to ask George Bush a single pointed question during his entire term in office, allowed Dan Rather to be their sacrificial lamb when he dared question Bush’s military record (which, like Oblahblah’s record, is nowhere to be found) and the list would go on for pages.

Screw the MSM. They are to journalism what Milli Vanilli was to music.

It’s vagina envy alright. They can’t stand that a person without a penis is going to lead us all, the Party and the Nation. And it’s not just men, it’s anyone who buys into the social status quo of men as leaders and women as followers. The Dems tried their darnest to hide behing the “it’s the black man’s turn” theme, while stirring up the anti-woman sentiment big time. It’s disturbing and disappointing that people with very liberal agenda, feminists and gays, fell under this spell without batting an eye. They just shrugged and went marching to the party’s drum because Hillary said it was okay. When this is all over, I hope they’d wake up and see what they have become.

  • Ferd McBerfle

Sarah Palin they did you no harm – they only made themselves look bad. They are sexist, abusive pigs.

I will say one thing, if there was any doubt that CNN, MSNBC, and MSM are sexist and biased, this situation brought it more into the light. No one can just say it was Hillary – it is evil sexism at its worse.

  • Ferd McBerfle

Two things at least have remained constant: The MSM remains largely useless, and Obama is still a raging asshole. At least we have that to hang on to through this madness.

  • Kate

    Totally nuts.

I am supposed to believe that a feminist, in defense of women, will vote for a Party that is anti-choice? And a candidate, Palin, who is extremely anti-choice? (Also wanting to teach creationism in schools?) HOW DOES THAT HELP WOMEN’S RIGHTS?

    The answer is, it doesn’t.

You don’t reward sexism (Obama’s campaign, I agree it was sexist, and all the media was very sexist), with revenge voting that in the end is no more than “cutting off your nose to spite your face.” (Palin as President makes me shudder, she’d set women’s rights back about 50 years. And considering McCain’s age, it’s likely she MIGHT become President.)

Me, I am protest voting, someone other than either major party.

What is needed is not revenge voting that ends up achieving exactly the opposite of what is intended.

What is needed is another women’s movement.

PUMA has lost all credibility with me (I am a life long Democrat, who is not voting for the Democratic nominee for the first time in my life, and a feminist since I was 18.)

Not all political action has to be carried out in the electoral process. In fact, the most effective isn’t.

I am beginning to think this is a stealth Republican site.

Hillary does not need to get involved in this.

    Palin understands the game. She gave this Newsweek interview last Friday;

“NEWSWEEK: Sarah Palin, you are a Republican and a conservative one at that. It’s unlikely that you and Hillary would agree on too many issues. But, yet, as a woman, chief executive—someone who’s been through the grinder—when you look at the coverage and you listen to the conversations, what do you see?

Sarah Palin: Fair or unfair—and I do think that it’s a more concentrated criticism that Hillary gets on so many fronts; I think that’s unfortunate. But fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. You have to plow through that and know what you’re getting into. I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo. But when I hear a statement like that coming from a women candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don’t think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or not fair it is there. I think it’s reality and it’s a given, people just accept that she’s going to be under a sharper microscope. So be it. Work harder, prove to yourself to an even greater degree that you’re capable, that you’re going to be the best candidate. That’s what she wants us to believe at this point. So it bothers me a little bit to hear her bring that attention to herself on that level….”

Im wondering if all this lies, and distractions are by the obama camp to take our eyes off the biden ball? they are all concerned about Palin , what about bidens son, who obama never mentions.
why because he is a big lobbist
why don’t we see more about this

    D.C. CONFIDENTIAL

JOE BIDEN’S FAILED ATTEMPT TO DISLODGE BRATTY SON FROM LOBBYING BIZ

    K STREET HOLE Joe, Hunter
Vice presidential nominee Joe Biden and his lobbyist son got nailed yesterday for being rich and insider-y and basically exactly like every other well-connected political clan you’ve ever heard about. “Biden’s Son a Well-Paid D.C. Insider” advises the headline of a story detailing how Hunter Biden has personally billed clients $3.8 million for his lobbying services, and how the firm he co-founded with one of his dad’s buddies excels in a particularly scummy niche of the lobbying trade that involves coercing a small group of congressmen and staffers to slip earmarks into monstrous spending bills.
That article makes no mention of the jobs and large consulting fees Hunter earned from his dad’s biggest contributor (but this one does!) or Sen. Biden’s staggeringly unsuccessful effort to avoid exactly these kinds of stories by getting his son out of the lobbying business altogether. Many of the alleged details on that can be found in a lawsuit filed last year against Hunter and his uncle James Biden, Joe’s brother.
According to a claim filed by pissed-off business guy Anthony Lotito, “In early January 2006, James Biden called Lotito to inform him that his brother, Senator Joseph P. Biden, was concerned with the impact that Hunter’s lobbying would have on his expected campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.” James allegedly said that “his brother had asked him to seek Lotito’s assistance in finding employment for Hunter in a non-lobbying capacity.”
This supposed ploy worked out just fine at first, assuming that hedge fund work was somehow less of a political liability than lobbying. Lotito partnered with the two Bidens and bought controlling interest of a hedge fund called Paradigm Global Advisors; despite having no hedge fund experience, Hunter was made CEO and given an annual salary of $1.2 million as a way of “fulfilling Senator Biden’s wish that Hunter secure employment in a non-lobbying capacity.” But soon the bottom fell out. Lotito’s lawsuit claims that the Biden boys began “repeatedly citing their political connections and family status” to avoid paying him, and threatened “to use their alleged connections with a former United States senator to retaliate against [Lotito's lawyers] for insisting that his bill be paid.”
The Bidens deny all of this and say Lotito was the bad actor in the deal, but whatever happened, it’s clear that the hedge fund foray was not a success. Hunter quickly returned to lobbying and ostensibly tried to establish some degree of political cover for his dad’s presidential run by playing up his selfless work on the Amtrak Reform Board, a do-nothing patronage gig given to him, of course, by his dad.
Still, the drama continues; the Biden boys were recently slapped with another lawsuit by a different investor who claims they “engaged in an elaborate scheme to defraud” him. It’s unclear how exactly all of this might figure into Barack Obama’s crusade against business-as-usual in Washington, but here’s hoping that some wise journalist covering this week’s Democratic convention will take a look at the impact of Washington establishment brats on Obama’s message of change. We’re looking at you Luke Russert!
