Here’s Sarah’s Definition of a “Hockey Mom”

McCain aides whose judgment I trust are impressed by Sarah Palin. One was particularly amused by this exchange: A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she’d be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she’d be facing, etc.:

Palin: “Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?”

McCain aide: “No, Governor.”

Palin: “A hockey mom wears lipstick.”

Democrats be careful when you mock Gov. Palin, the religious right loves her and will turn out for her. I think Obama will lose Colorado and other states are in danger because the Governor is doing the job she was choosen for.

    • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

OHhhhh for sure!! I know some folks in Ouray & Montrose that will be carving her initials in their hunting rifles. ROFLOL!

They are loving this! Obama WHO?

      • nancysabet

Obama my a…., Palin is a real, genuine, authentic, principled human being with loads of character and integrity–a very good match for John McCain. They’re both maverick reformers. They can help bring about the real change we all want to see in Washington. They both actually have a track record of bringing about positive changes in government. If you can make it in Wasilla, Alaska, you can make it any where. Sarah will, once in DC, have no problem leading the Senate in the charge of taking on the little squirrels inside the beltway with much greater ease and effort than she exerted in taking down some moose-sized corruption in Alaska. Finally, Please provide me, with my “lower IQ”, a list of B. Hussein Obama’s vast executive experience. (I bet you don’t answer, no offense, but nobody has been able to answer yet).

        • kneec29

Isn’t it absolutely ridiculous that they can go back 22 years and find that her husband had a DUI but we can’t find much of anything about him that makes sense…..Everything that someone digs up is blocked from the public. I can’t believe what it is taking to get to the bottom of the Annenburg/Ayers/Obama ordeal.

        • curious

It is curious that someone praises and make statements about a person they must think they know. Some highlights for the drones who do not think for themselves.
Govenor Palin did not sell her jet through Ebay–She was for the bridge to nowhere until the pressure made her change her mind–She still received $260,000,000 from the pork project. She still has $60,000,000. The other was spent to build a railroad to a x-senators ski resort. This highly (cough) intelligent person went to 6 colleges in seven years. Wonder what her major was. As mayor of a small town she received pork of #27,000,000 the highest per person of any pork project ever. She and her oil people have spent 500,000,000 for basically a piece of paper to figure out how to get natural gas to the lower states. The lower states has all the natural gas needed if we can get the big oil companies out of control. Sorry she sounds like a porker and will fit right in to continue more of the last 8 years. I hope this helps you,

  • bemused

Good for her. Obviously this is coming down to the war of the female stereotypes and expectations. This is why I like her, she is like Hillary in toughness but doesn’t have to sacrifice her years of building relationships to tell the non-democratic party to stuff it.

  • kgirl1028

I would love to see her and Hillary on a ticket together. can you imagine how fun that will be. They would whipe the floor with the so called washington elite. If they bully her into withdrawing, that will solidify my resolve to keep obama out of office.

    • joe bob

      wow, you’re delusional

      • kgirl1028

No i don’t I loath bullies, and if she’s not qualified obama certainly is not. delusional people are ones that vote for a PRESIDENTIAL candidate with no experience, when our ecomony is in the tank. delusional people think Roe vs Wade is more important than the basic right to choose and elect a government you want and not one that people like donna brazil, howard dean, and nancy pelosi think we should have. Delusional people think that electing a man who funnels money to slum lords and then take campaign money from them is a great idea especially when we are going through a mortgage crisis. Delusional people think a person who has done more to strain the tension between blacks and whites in the history of this country, will create racial harmony. Delusional people think that people who sound like stammering fools any time they go off script or someone asks them an unexpected or hostile questions will be able to make quick snap judgements. So dearest as we use to say in high school Check yourself before you wreck yourself. stop worrying so much about me. and focus on you, because i’ve always have been prone to taking the planks out of people’s eye and beating them with it.

        • ghost2

Wow! Let us know how you really feel.

    • Jason

Why would Hillary join a ticket with a pro-life bible thumper?

I think a couple of women could straighten out this country’s woes in no time. I hope I live long enough to see the day.

  • Buzz Latte

Oh, this is good. Very good.

I liked this lady from the start. At this point I don’t care that she and McCain have “R” behind their names for political purposes.

We need real leaders and being from the Pacific NW and having worked with a few hockey moms, I can tell you that Palin is dead serious about the pit bull part.

Anyone who can round up the corruption in a huge state like Alaska, impress some very individualistic and survival type Alaskans, and run budgets and international borders, is what America needs.

The more the two tickets are compared, the more Obama’s deficits glare.

I wish it were Hillary, but McCain and Palin will do nicely.

    • DemForMac

This is thrilling to have someone from the Pacific Northwest. True grit! Meet Annie Oakley’s little sister. Get out of her way, you’re blocking her shooting arm.

When did Hillary become a Federalist?

Also, how is Palin going to heal international relations? Because she never had any negative incidents with the 12 Canadians who live near AK?

        • MIDem

Shall we examine obama’s international experiences and connections?
I hear he has some interesting associations.

She negotiated a $26 billion natural gas pipeline pipeline between Canada and the US that people had been trying to pull off for 30 years. It brings us closer to energy independence and is a benefit to her state.

Obama lied about NAFTA when his economic advisor Austin Goolsbee met with the Canadians and got him busted.

She will hold her own with Biden in the Debate with some to spare.

  • bmc

Ha! Sarah Barracuda. ;o} I hear she’s a devil to debate, too:

Do read the entire blog entry, but this quote at the end sums it up pretty well:

There were a ridiculous twenty-six debates in the 2008 Democratic primary season. Biden participated in fourteen of them. And after those fourteen debates, he won zero delegates before dropping out on January 3, 2008. By contrast, after Sarah Palin’s 20-plus debates in 2006, she took 48% of the general election vote, to Knowles’ 40% and Halcro’s 9%.

OMG Get this to Daily Kos right away! THis is the Next Big Story!

lol…scandal ridden…hahaha Thats rich coming from a supporter of the Buttplug of Chicago Politics.

      • NoTrollZone

hey, I’ve been saying BO’s a woman for a long time. This cheeto sucking weasel shall not get credit for what we stalwart dems have unearthed.
Get thee back to the slime troll. Thank you Jeremiah for pointing out that the troll was stealing our info.

      • OBushMA!

Saying BO is a woman is an insult to women…

    • StrawberrybitesBarky

Foreign Affairs ignorant, like Barky saying that they speak Arabic in Afghanistan? Oh and yes Sarah does deal with foreign affairs…there are a shitload of foreign companies doing business in Alaska. HUUUUUGE ones. Oil, gas, mining and she deals with Canada all the time. The Alaskan/canadian relationship is an odd one. Like many border states it is kinda’ intertwined.

      • Skiron

LOL yep that Alaska-Canadian relationship gives her a wealth of foreign affairs knowledge and experience…she’s definitely ready to go toe to toe with Kim Jong Il after dealing with those crafty Canadians…oh my, PUMAs are so precious sometimes.

        • Postmaster

skiron, why don’t you drop the stupid remarks and just vote for Obama and be done with it Or did you mistake us for someone that gives a damn what you think?

          • Skiron

I don’t give a damn whether you give a damn about what I think. PUMAs just amuse me.

            • NoTrollZone

damn, i wish this nitwit would return the favor.

            • Buzz Latte

You forgot one, if not the most important border, for the US. Alaska borders – wait for it…

              RUSSIA!

Christo on a crutch! You obots are lacking!

              • Jason

yeah, and those clever Russkie’s are always threatening to invade across the Bering Straight.

                • Hope Floats

They did it to Georgia. We have lots of oil, too. Maybe you and “Amuse Moi” Skiron and “Two Drink Minimum” Biden should yuck it up talking about how countries that are invaded should show restraint and how Iraq should be divided into three parts.

                  • Jason

But they haven’t invaded Alaska so the theoretical possibility to does not make Palin somehow more experienced at international affairs.

I might get mugged on my way home but that doesn’t give me experience dealing with muggers.

                    • StrawberrybitesBarky

No but if your smart, if you live in a bad neighborhood, you take a few jujitsu classes or bring along some mace. Barky thinks you can sit down and have a latte with the muggers.

            • Uña de Gato

I wish Stanley Anne Dunham hadn’t been punished with a baby.

        • Karma

You are so precious to think the One is going to rise above the grifter he has proven himself to be in Illinois and Washington DC.

I’ll take Palin’s scandals any day over Obama’s.

Wanting a trooper fired for drinking and driving in a cop car and tasering an 11 year old child. Give me more of those type of scandals!

          • jwrjr

Oalin’s scandals are manufactured. Obama’s scandals are real. No amount of Oborg derision and Obama denial can change that.

            • jwrjr

              Sorry – Palin’s, not Oalin’s.

        • StrawberrybitesBarky

No but the RUSSIAN/ALASKAN connection is pretty real. You just showed you ignorance doofus. Check out a map sometime and see how close the two are…also google up how many times Alaska has to deal with Russian fisherman in Alaskan waters. All it takes is for one small incident to snowball out of control. And if you don’t think the Governer of Alaska isn’t made aware of Russian military maneuvers than you and Barky are too stupid to run this country.

          • Skiron

Those Russian fisherman are almost as crafty as the Canadians…wow you’ve convinced me.
Palin definitely has the foreign policy chops to be VP.

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

Oh God…you are stupid. What part of international incident do you not get? Back in 85 or 86 American fishermen were chased by two russian navy vessels. I haven’t kept up with any new incidents but I’m sure there have been more. There is a dispute where international waters end and Alaskan waters begin, has it been rectified? And who is the first line of defense when something does go wrong? And where is one of the first places China or Russian would bomb…and what was the only state in be invaded by the Japanese during WW2?

              • StrawberrybitesBarky

Answer to all those foreign affairs questions…ALASKA!!!

              • Jason

This is what you are talking about:

                http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/archives/1986/8601170608.asp

I’ve been searching around a bit and there do not appear to have been any more.

Having one international incident 22 years ago does not give Ms. Palin some type of credit for dealing with the Russians. Nor has she dealt with the Chinese or Russians.

Neither has Obama, as far as I know.

I don’t think either side should be pointing to the other and claiming lack of experience. The logical thing here is for both sides to drop it since Obama has little major experience and now McCain has a running mate who has little experience either.

                • StrawberrybitesBarky

The point is, that is part of the job description. Foreign Affairs. And I’m sure she is kept informed. Barky not so much. And given his lazy ass attitude towards his own foreign affairs committee, I’m not so sure he’d even bother to do his homework.

                  • Jason

But you don’t actually know if she is kept informed or not. Nor do you know how well informed Obama is. Its all pure speculation on your part.

                    • StrawberrybitesBarky

Are you serious? The governer of Alaska kept out of the security loop when she is in charge of the Alaskan Air and National gaurds? Did you eat a brain tumour for breakfast? That is not logical. And again…how does this make barky ready to be PRESIDENT NOT VP when he has NO executive experience?

                    • Jason

                      Pesky facts:

“Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard, considers Palin “extremely responsive and smart” and says she is in charge when it comes to in-state services, such as emergencies and natural disasters where the National Guard is the first responder.

But, in an interview with The Associated Press on Sunday, he said he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.

                    • StrawberrybitesBarky

Again, how does all this make Barky more experienced than Sarah? Oh and by the by if that quote is true, that makes it strange because in most cases it’s the governer that has to release the gaurd to the feds. That’s what happened to my husband when he was federalized. So again, to think she is kept out of the security loop is not logical.

                    • Jason

You may not think the quote is logical but it is from the adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard. So despite your personal experience, I’d go with him on this one.

how does all this make Barky more experienced than Sarah?

It doesn’t. I have not said it does.

Its essentially a wash and people should not try to make something out of nothing.

People aren’t voting for Obama because of his experience. Thats the theme of the McCain campaign. And by picking Palin, they blew up their main attack in order to secure their base. Its a calculated trade-off.

                    • StrawberrybitesBarky

Look Bunky, I’m sure once she turns over the Gaurd to the Feds, she no longer has power over them and doesn’t have any hand in where they go. But to think she isn’t briefed at all on National security with Russia being so close not only makes no sense, but sounds downright dangerous. When Washington state governer, Gregoire met with Chinese leaders a while back, are you telling me she wasn’t briefed on National Security matters at all? Look, you’re cute and all but I’ve really got to go. Thanks for the conversation. Open House for the kids. I’m a stay at home mommy and frankly, I think mommies have more executive experience than all three men atthe top of the ticket.

                    • Jason

You can keep speculating on how much involvement she has in national security or you can believe what the guardsmen himself said.

As it is, she has not yet fought off a Russian invasion, so you can stop pretending she has.

        • Hope Floats

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system.

The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s.
She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don’t even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

In other words, her security clearance and experience in these matters exceeds even Mr. Biden’s, who parades himself as a “National Security Expert”. Of course, this by far surpasses Mr. Obama, who can only find out about National Security matters by watching CNN and/or by Googling the pertinent terms on his laptop.

          • Skiron

I would definitely entrust our national security to a creationist, former beauty pageant contestant hockey mom. Without a doubt.

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

              Alaska did.

              • Jason

And Alaska is ranked #46 in the smartest state list.

                http://www.statestats.com/edrank.htm

                Congratulations, you beat Mississippi! Yay!

                • StrawberrybitesBarky

Did you read that site in full? It was very limited in the factors used to get the rankings. Right now Alaska is offering free four year scholarships to Alaskan universites. There’s no sales tax or individual income tax. And residents get checks from the state every year. Yeah, they’re REAL dumb up there.

                  • Jason

I’m supposed to be impressed because 100% of the people in the State are on welfare?

And yes, that study, is limited to certain factors like literacy, drop-out rates and ability to math. How dumb is they are!

                    • StrawberrybitesBarky

So because the state government is in the black and gives all its residents a share of the oil revenue makes them dumb? Okay. So, you’d turn down the 1200 bucks? Now who’s dumb.

                    • Jason

No, the fact that 1/8 of their population is illiterate makes them dumb.

            • Hope Floats

Obama got into Harvard for being black. Sarah Palin got a scholarship to U of Idaho by being pretty and answering questions about world peace in a swimsuit and heels. It’s a toss up, really, but being smoking hot takes more work than being black. I’m voting for the hockey mom who says it’s ok for students to ask questions about evolution from a religious perspective. Like “Is it possible the world is really 6,000 years old? Could God have caused the Big Bang?”

Say something stupid now. I know you’re dying to.

              • Skiron

Wow, you did give me a lot of ammunition there…
I will just say that if there’s still a classroom in this country where a science teacher poses a question like “is it possible the world is 6000 years old?” and then doesn’t immediately disabuse students of the idea, then that is a sad state of affairs indeed.

                • Hope Floats

Not teachers. Students. Palin said students should be able to ask questions, not that the two should be taught side by side.

              • Jason

Obama got into Harvard for being black.

Really? Thats what they stamped on his application?

She didn’t say its ok to ask questions from a religious perspective. She said it was ok to teach “intelligent design” alongside evolution.

                Fortunately the supreme court disagreed.

Stop trying to make her into something she isn’t.

            • sproutingly

McCain is running for president, not Palin. Why do you Obama people persist in comparing Obama to Palin? And don’t tell me it is because McCain is so old, etc…I think the reason is that Obama, for all intents and purposes, is the actual VP running mate!!

          • McHope

            Hope Floats,
Thank you so much for posting this invaluable information.
I look forward to the McCain campaign’s enlightenment of the voting public on this issue.

          • Jason

            Completely false:

Maj.

The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.

            http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Aug31/0,4670,CVNPalinGraspingatStraws,00.html

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

Extremly responsive and smart. Hmmmm. But like I said above the governer must release the gaurd to the feds. So I’m sure she gets briefed beforehand. Unless of course alaska is different from the lower 48. That was the fight between Bush and the LA governer during Katrina if I remember correctly.

Well, your candidate is the tepid-choice, okay with creationism, foreign-affairs ignorant, corruption-riddled token black man for president. And geez, he’s top of the ticket. I guess if you were concerned about those issues, you should have backed the one fighting Democrat we had running.

I will be voting McCain Palin, and my extensive contact list from my year of helping with Hillary’s campaign is rolling into motion. Getting great responses so far.

So get over it. To quote Heart, “Ooooo! Sarah-cuda!”

    • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Let’s hear it for the Bushbots, and the Obots, all who voted their man no matter what!

Today I announce my membership in the Sarabot club.

I intend to vote for VP Palin – no matter what.

    • no vote for Oblabla

    • DemForMac

uh ummmm uh-SARAH PALIN IS pro-choice..can you say Pro-choice? A womens right to choose? Hello?
Bush is anti-abortion but that had no bearing..this is a wedge issue that’s not going to affect the voters. Try again. This beats Obama the baby killer who LEAVES full term aborted babies to die in a closet or smash it’s head in a sink. OBAMA VOTED TO ABORT BABIES WITH DOWN SYNDROME..HITLER DID SIMILIAR.

  • Lark

Sarah family now looks more and more like a typical American family with all its problems and paradoxes. And Bristol looks like a very typical young lady who risked her future to please a typical young fellow’s charming advances. Nothing new and everything that brings society close.

I predict Sarah should gain among Obambi’s core groups of young electorate, except among AAs. It seems AAs may get alienated by Palin and throw a fit.

Soon enough Palin will show that as VP she will work with Hillary in pushing some of her most important causes. Just some thoughts.

    • Karma

It makes me wonder how many of the teenagers in Alaska get married when pregnant?

Is it like a small town vibe that supports the family getting married and settling down?

No matter the case…Alaska seems to be proactive in helping their citizens and trying to lower the teenage pregnancy rate.

At the link….almost 71% of the teen pregnancies are born and not aborted. And they have lowered the teen pregnancies by 34% over the years.

      http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/state_data/states/alaska.html

“Among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, Alaska ranked

      *1st in service availability;
      *14th in laws and policies;
      *1st in public funding; and
      *2nd overall.

      *service availability—how well the states meet existing need for subsidized contraceptive services and supplies;

*laws and policies—whether their laws and policies are likely to facilitate access to contraceptive services and information; and

*public funding—the extent to which they devote their own revenues, and leverage potential federal dollars, to support the delivery of publicly supported contraceptive services and support.”

      ~~

It would be hard to claim that Alaska voted to lessen their access to contraceptives when they are the first in the nation for providing access.

Even with this data only being until Nov 05.

Especially that Gloria- who can’t have a good day unless her messiah is talked about, or the other three stooges and pepper spray Brazile. Please make some time to go on these programs and let them know “that you are not going to take it like Hillary did”. Get out there and fight for women, girl! It is getting old when you see gallup polls showing at Fox 50-42 Obama vs Mccain—-then you see Msnbc 49-43 Obama vs Mccain- and then you see 450,000.00 people voting on the Aol gallup polls showing 63-37 Mccain vs Obama————-I don’t know about you but these 800 people polls should be thrown in the nearest river. They are based on 800 people. I believe that AOL’s over 400 thousand people are really showing what the average voter is thinking. Can someone with influence please tell FOX to report the AOL polls and stop reporting 800 people. It is so deceiving and unpresident.

    • Skiron

Oh dear. Are you even vaguely familiar with the science of statistics and how polls are conducted?

      • StrawberrybitesBarky

Yep, and I also know how polls can be skewed. PS we left a few comments for you up thread. PPS. Would you like a shot of Stoly?

        • Skiron

Wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to Warrior O’ God here who thinks a frickin’ online AOL poll is more accurate than a professionally conducted poll…which leads to the question, are all PUMAs that dense? Or is he (or she), in the parlance of statistics, an outlier?

Many of the left wing women in the Media seem to have no shame. They are putting the status of working women back years in criticizing Gov. Palin (how dare she?!) for running for VP instead of being home with her kids–all to score cheap political points for Obama. Did any of us ever think we’d see the day when it was the GOP doing the heavy lifting for women?

    • Susan1968

That’s because left wing feminists are only supportive of women who march in lockstep with themselves.

      Hypocrites.

When I hear their objections, I feel like I’ve stepped into the wayback machine and it’s 1962 again. Except I was too little to care then.

This is just stunning. These media women are parroting the male argument of the 1950s and 1960s. Did they all just take a crash course at Phyllis Schafly U.?

    • CountryFirst

I’ve recently heard several hateful remarks about Sarah Palin from some Hillary supporters. The hateful remarks, for example, “she’s no Hillary Clinton!” are made simply because she accepted the VP position. They have no real personal reason for hating her. It’s very like the hate-filled remarks made toward Hillary Clinton by those who evidently hate “just because.” I consider Hillary a class-act and those people who are using their loyalty to Hillary to voice hate and disrespect for Sarah Palin are doing Hillary a disservice. To hear such hateful remarks was disappointing to me.

      • Jason

They hate her because she’s pro-life and pro-creationism. Two things Hillary is not. Just because she’s a successful female politician, that does not maker her the same person.

  • sayitisntso

I’m tired of the exagerated polls too!

    • Lark

I think these polls make sense. Smear tactics do have some immediate results. But soon enough they fade. But they have unintended consequences also. McCain knows how to counterpunch and it’s not going to be merciful.

      • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

that’s a pretty reasonable and astute assessment.

  • Perry Logan

It’s amazing how Palin has eclipsed Obama so quickly.

All of a sudden, Obama is old news, and we have much more interesting, far more appealing person to talk about. Several of my friends have said she makes it possible for them to vote for McCain. :)

This–along with their usual misogyny–explains the renewed nastiness of the Obama gang since the selection of Palin for VP.

Soon we will have to start deprogramming all these Obamites.

She is getting the heat right now. She better be a bulldog with lipstick, or we will be looking at President Obama.

    • Hope Floats

They’ve been saying it at Wonkette and The Orange Sewer and DU, too. Obama sent that rumor out, too.

If they say anonymous Republicans are nervous about her on the ticket, it makes people believe the BS lies.

      • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

I’m calling McCain’s campaign to stand fast with Sarah. I’ve urged other Republican women to do the same.

Did the nitwits at daily Krap consider that if nothing else Palin has proven to be a premiere fundraiser for his campaign – 10 million in four days? AND the base is fired up about her.I’ve heard reports from the convention that delegates are stoked! Republicans really get in gear when they have something – or someone – to battle.

Additionally, I don’t think attacks against Romney or any male VP choice would have energized the base such as the Palin abuse has.

    • OBushMA!

It’s wishful thinking. ‘D’ stands for delusional these days ever since BO came on the scene. Palin will leave or stay depending on how she polls. I am sure the McCain camp is feverishly studying how people are reacting to her situation and the way the Dems behaved.

The Dems think they got her Achille’s heel: hurt the daughter to get the mother to back down. If Palin can’t stand up to such low down tactics, she doesn’t live up to her reputation and would not be helpful on the ticket anyway.

      • beebop

So …. Democrats are now advocating political chemotherapy and whoever survives runs? That is insane!

My dad, a Republican, asked me whether or not I thought Palin’s daughter being pregnant would draw negative comments for Governor Palin. I had the naiveté to say *not from my Party…we’re progressives…we know things happen.* No one will say *boo* about it, I added.

Wake up this morning only to find that supposed progressive Democrats are behaving as if they never had sex before marriage and are appalled, appalled, I tell you that Bristol is pregnant and is going to keep the baby.

It is topsy-turvy world when the Democratic Party has become the Party of judgmental, back-woods creeps. I, for one, am glad to be done with them.

The Dems have made themselves look desperate and irrational. They are acting like a crazed mob, fanning their baseless outrage and forgetting their own humanity. That’s the problem with a personality cult. Reasons go out the door and all’s left is hatred of the opponent. In past elections, the Republicans had well-trained attack dogs smearing their opponent, but the Dems are playing with fire, when they set loose wild dogs on a mother, her teenaged daughter and new born baby. Not only does it accomplish nothing, it creates a very bad impression about the moral standards of the BO camp.

  • elsie

Sarah Palin has a great sense of humor which I like..

I am a hockey mom too and proud of it. I want to know from her how she feels about her kid’s hockey team when they have not won a single game. That was me when my kids played hockey in high school…

Now one of my hockey player son is in medical school and his team is actually doing well. Too bad he is out of state… I wish I could attend one of his games and wear lipstick too.

No one can be surprised about this latest misogyny. Disgusted, yes, but not surprised. BO set the lowest of standards when he gave Senator Clinton the finger and “brushed” her off his shoulders and shoes after she thoroughly trounced him in a debate he couldn’t get out of. What a sport he and his friends are.

    MCCAIN/PALIN ’08

    CLINTON/PALIN 2012

  • Steve

Huffingtonpost is calling for her head. That is enough for me to know that McCain made a brilliant pick.

The smear that was poured out over Palin in the last 4 or 5 days is unbelievable, especially when you consider that Obama promised a clean and positive campaign.

  • jangles

I really like the lead in statement about Palin that leads this thread. I was very happy to see it get aired and viewed on Fox. Another piece of the Palin wit is her answer to the question, How many houses will the Palins add to McCain’s total. Her answer, just one, the Whitehouse.

One thing that is really coming across to me is that the picture the MSM, Dems and Blogger Boyz are trying to paint of Palin is dramatically different from the reality of Palin and that difference is a plus for Palin.

The Obama campaign is stumbling all over the place in defining the best way to attack Palin. The first was the assault on her Downs baby through the ugly manufactured rumor that it was a family cover-up for her daughter; then the attack on the daughter; and related attacks on her “female parts” from the ankles up and that favorite sexist message of all time, why don’t you stay at home with the kids.

We now have the attack centered around the experience issue comparing Palin to Obama which even Obama is participating in much to his detriment. All of these are based on not treating Palin as a serious candidate for VP and all are based on treating Palin as if she were running for President, not VP.

On international experience: who needs that as a top priority with a VP? No, Americans expect that to be the strength of the Presidential candidates. The more the Obama campaign gets into the experience thing with Palin and comparing her to Obama the more I think they dramatically undercut their own top dog. None of these strategies are good and none of them appear to be working.

  • bornagaindem

I am a die hard democrat and while I will not vote for Obama I was planning on writing in Hillary. If I see many more of these great lines from Sarah Palin I may actually consider voting for the repug ticket this year -unbelievable !!!

  • Anna Ana Mus

Roe v Wade was decided in 1973. How many REPUBLICAN presidents have EVER tried to have it overturned?

Using a scare tactic of the Republicans overturning Roe v Wade may have worked around 1974 or so, but it is a really, really lame excuse to be using it in this day and age especially when we have 30+ years of it never being touched.

    • LindaA1

Well, actually there has been a liberal majority on the Supreme Court until now that protected Roe. Roe staying in place had little to do with the Presidents and they have been adding conservatives to the Court for two decades. The danger now is that one more conservative on the court will tip the majority to the conservatives. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that there will be a strong Democratic Majority in the Senate in 2009 – maybe as much as a 60/40 split. Since Supreme Court nominees have to have Senate approval, there’s little danger that McCain could get an anti-Roe conservative confirmed.

The one scary scenario is that McCain may have the opportunity to add as many as three Judges. The Democratic Majority would have to hold firm on moderate appointees repeatedly which, I’m sure, would have the GOP conservatives howling.

Nonetheless, the Democrats will have the numbers to maintain a balanced Supreme Court – if they can grow a backbone.

The democratic lost their back bone a long time ago when they took out one of their own democratics and went agaist the will of the people. They played their dirty tricks and used the media to help them MSNBC-CNN.They used their pro-press as well.Look right when John McCain came out with his V.P Campbell Brown attack Sarah Palin, without really knowing anything about her.So right there gives anothr hint that they are again going at it.I don’ttrust MSNBC-CNN OR THE PRO-OBAMA PRESS.!!!!And never will.

instead of waiting to know anything they attack her.The thing is she has more of a record then Obama. The ones who attack another democratic are in it for something they don’t wnt to lose,MONEY….And that’s what they did to Hillary.MSNBC-CNN AND PRO-PRESS DIDN’T WASTE ANYTHIME IN ATTACKING Sarah Palin..

Anything they do they do it for their own selfish reasons, not for the good.DNC trashed their own party and hey we have someone who took down her own party in corruption and tha’s what we need here in Washington.

They are really mad that they didn’t know. They were following around the other two thinking they were McCains pick one of them….They thought John McCain called them in to tell them that.So they were running behind them to.Surprise wrong….They got a shock of their lives.I wish I was a fly on the walls of all those people watching their faces.

NOOBAMA—DNC we don’t want you. DNC did not stand up for all the people only for their selected one.And now they want and needs us.They keep saying hey- you think and asking people how many Hillary supporters now are John McCain’s.Well we don’t give the right amount. And never will tell them.

    GO TO HELL DNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eliie 4McCain4 Palin 08

Wrighting in Hillary guess what? That vote will go to Obama.

    • LindaA1

In an indirect way, votes for third party candidates and stay at home votes go to Obama as well.

It will likely be a very close election, so any vote not cast for McCain gives a vote to Obama.

I try to make the point to folks that they don’t have to compromise themselves by voting McCain. Just vote McCain as a strategic move – to punish the Democratic Party leadership and to clear the way for a 2012 Hillary Presidency.

We’ll have the Democratic Majority in Congress to protect the Supreme Court and refuse funding for unnecessary wars. Yes there will be some downsides to four years of the GOP, but it won’t be nearly as horrible as eight years of Obama, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile and Company.

Further, this crowd will be so emboldened by winning that you can bet on the Democratic Party becoming more and more corrupt as these thugs grab more and more power. By the next election cycle, they will probably figure out a way to stop us from voting at all.

Don’t laugh. This is how fascism happens…

    Hi,
I really wanted Hillary to be the nominee. I’m not happy that she isn’t. In fact I was heartbroken.

Ive been reading this blog for a long time. Alot of comments seem to advocate John McCain and Sara Palin for Pres/VP.

I’m just wondering if these people advocating the Republicans for president are Republicans themselves?

I’m quite earnest to know: who do the real Hillary supporters want in?

Do you guys think Hillary will have a chance in 2012? Wouldn’t it be more likely McCain will stay in?

I’m just thinking, I mean, if McCain mucks everything up or goes to war with Iran, is it really worth taking the risk of putting more of our soldiers lives at risk just so Hillary can be voted in?

I do want Hillary as president but I don’t know about risking McCain. I’m sad and a bit worried.
What do you guys think? Any advice?
    Thanks alot
