Palin v. Obama

It’s too damn bad these ads have to be so short. They could point out that he gave oil companies BILLIONS by voting for the CHENEY energy bill in 2005 — which both John McCain and Hillary Clinton voted against.

Some change agent.

Voting with Dick Cheney.

  • Hope is the last to die

It should have ended pointing out that Palin is the VP pick, Obama wants to be the president.

  • lizpolaris

Good ad. They could also compare her executive experience to his.

And having John McCain approve the message at the end just shows that its a comparison of the VP and presidential candidates.

Dems – how screwed up is that? When am I gonna get my party back? ARG!

EXCELLENT article on Sarah Palin’s foreign policy experience v. Obama’s and Biden’s.

    A Negotiator Without Preconditions
    By James P. Lucier
    Published 9/3/2008 12:08:20 AM

Would you trust Sarah Palin to negotiate with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without preconditions?

    Well, why not?

Palin came into the governor’s office and found a mess on her desk. The oil deal struck by defeated Republican governor Frank Murkowski wasn’t working. Through creative accounting by big oil and ambiguous reporting standards, the Murkowski plan just wasn’t giving the State of Alaska the pay-off that was expected. So the former mayor of Wasilla (population 9,000, as the MSM always points out) demanded that the agreement be renegotiated and the terms be nailed down. They laughed when she sat down to negotiate, but in the end she had a new deal that delivered 50 percent of the oil revenues to the Alaska Permanent Fund, and enabled Palin to send a check for $1,200 to every qualified Alaskan citizen.

Now one of the major companies involved was BP, a.k.a. British Petroleum, before that, the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. It was Anglo-Iranian, at that time a British parastatal (70 percent owned by the British government and the Bank of England) that started the Middle East conflict in 1953. Anglo-Iranian was using creative accounting and payments to dummy corporations to pretend to the Iranian government that there was virtually no profit. They demanded that the Iranian government uphold the original contract made decades before. Prime Minister Mohammed Mossedegh threatened to nationalize Anglo-Iranian. The British responded with a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

No Senator on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has authority under the U.S. Constitution to conduct foreign relations or to negotiate treaties. That’s why Biden has no experience in foreign relations, and Palin does. He just talks about foreign policy, and talks…and talks. Biden’s long tenure on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is not necessarily a red badge of courage. He thinks he has experience, but most of his experience is wrong. We can look at a few examples of the results of his experience, and ask What Would Sara Palin Do?

That needs to be a new ad. That would strike at the O heart. Wah!

  • beebop

I borrowed this from funny Peggy Noonan:

I’m bumping into a lot of critics who do not buy the legitimacy of small town mayorship (Palin had two terms in Wasilla, Alaska, population 9,000 or so) and executive as opposed to legislative experience. But executives, even of small towns, run something. There are 262 cities in this country with a population of 100,000 or more. But there are close to a hundred thousand small towns with ten thousand people or less. “You do the math,” the conservative pollster Kellyanne Conway told me. “We are a nation of Wasillas, not Chicagos.”

  • agent77

I never realized how sexist the media is…not even when Hillary was running.

When the Media brutalized Hillary with their sexism, hate and disrespect, I thought it was because they hated her and found her target the audience didn’t mind getting torn down.

But to see it continue to another woman, with no pause, no reflection and automatic sexism and hate makes me scared for woman in this country.

The media is doing it and the audience is allowing it …

No! It makes a stronger statement that McCain doesn’t add that BO is running for President and Palin for Vice President!

It makes BO look like the weakling he is.

It is such a romantic story. Ah, to be young and in love. All these bitter old rumor-mongers speculating incessantly about Gov. Palin’s personal life remind me of the Jeanie C. Riley song Harper Valley PTA.

It would be rather funny if McCain used that in a commercial to ridicule the MSM wags and point to Sarah Palin’s impressive record. I’m looking forward to her speech tonight.

  • red_sleeves

    Exactly.

Anderson Cooper asked Barack Obama last night to answer the claim that Sarah Palin has more applicable experience than he does.

Why is Obama, his party’s presidential nominee, even attempting to defend his credentials against the opposing teams vice presidential nominee?

  • Lark

Susan, the root of the semantics of the campaigns are:

McCain: Country First: Implies bipartisanship in absolute terms.

Obama: Change/you can believe in: Implies that what everyone has done up till now is wrong or inappropriate and everyone is guilty except him. That’s why he ran before he could be blamed, meaning the so called “urgency of today.” It is a misinterpretation of the call. Why? Because it poisons and creates animosity with everyone. Solution to that, authoritarianism. Barack will become authoritarian like Putin/Medvedev. See Russia today – see the U.S. under Obama. No different.

  • Susan1968

Obama VOTED FOR the Cheney Energy Bill.

McCain went gainst his party and VOTED AGAINST the Cheney Energy Bill, specifically because of the tax breaks Big Energy received.

  • Mr.Murder

Could it just be that team O decided the policy itself was too nukular not to use in a campaign, and simply inserted her name to Huckabee’s action?

The democratic party should re-name itself the “Hester Prynne Party.” There seems to be no shortage of scarlet letters inside the democrats’ little bag of tricks to pin on women who dare to step over the line. Who would have dreamt in the 21st century the Dems would become such a backward band of misogynists, cultists & thugs? I’m embarassed to technically still be one of them, though there’s no way in hell I’m gonna vote Dem in the upcoming election.

Kudos to Sen John McCain for sticking up for Gov Sarah Palin! Palin could stomp Obama’s ass blindfolded with one hand tied behind her back & Obama knows it. Palin is the anti-Obama. She’s the antithesis of a Barack Obama and all his empty rhetoric, his Rev Wright/Ayers/Rezko cronnies & his Chicago pol caucus wrigging machine.

What will be next for the Dems? Will they adopt Sharia law so women can be openly flogged in the marketplace? Will women be required to wear a bhurka? Nothing about the Dems surprises me. I hope Nancy Pelosi and Donna Brazile are proud of their party.

Although I recognize the value of the negotiations that Palin conducted, I think you have to be careful in saying this adds up to foreign policy experience. It adds up to the ability to orchestrate an agreement with powerful international oil interests who may in fact be more complex and difficult than foreign governments but they are not governments. (In some cases they may appear to be.)

You are right obamaisterrible, I agree with you:

Obama is a complete idiot. I mean, he actually voted to fund that bridge, didn’t he?

Though Gov. Palin originally supported the earmark spending on the Ketchikan bridge (“to nowhere), she eventually killed the project, chosing to spend Federal money on other infrasturcture programs.

However, Sen. Biden and Sen. Obama voted for funding the Bridge, even when given a second chance by Sen. Tom Coburn, who proposed shifting earmark funds to Katrina relief.

Sen. McCain did not vote on the Coburn Amendment, though he is on record as opposing the Ketchikan bridge earmark.

    - Obama and Biden Voted for Bridge to Nowhere

Once again the twits at kos were outsmarted. By them slamming Palin, they only set her up as a sympathetic symbol, and a person for the base to rally around, and somebody who can appeal to women of both parties. Also no McCain can go in with both barrels blazing against the messiah about Ayers and Rezko, without having to worry about anybodt complaining its unfair.

I no the bots are claiming it wont be effective, because Hillary already went there.

Hillary did not go there. She may have touched on the subjects in a very minor way, but the fact she was a democrat kept her from any serious attack.

The republicans are truly going to go there with Hillary x 1,000,000 type force LOL

Its ironic that its the messiahs own adoring radical left media and blogger buddies that are going to be his downfall in the end.

“Have you heard Obama’s new argument about how he has more experience than Palin (yes, he’s running against Palin now because McCain’s too hard)? He’s run a presidential campaign. That gives him the experience to be president.

It’s a neat concept. If you run a really good campaign and get elected president, then you have the experience to be president. If you lose the election, then obviously you didn’t have the needed experience. This means that we’ve gotten the best presidential choice in all our elections since the winner each time ran the best campaign. We have a perfect system!”

The most recent issue of “The Advocate” (a usually decent magazine covering issues of importance to the LGBT community) spent FOUR PAGES on an article about Michelle’s hairdresser. (And that was after an issue with Barry on the cover. I couldn’t bring myself to rip the cover off completely, but I DID fold the cover back on itself so I didn’t have to look at Obama’s smug mug.)
Yes, I feel so much better knowing that Michelle’s gay hairdresser has spoken so lovingly of her, because, after all, it tells us all of the type of person Michelle really is. (Like any woman would ever speak poorly of or ever belittle the person to whom she’s entrusted her hair. For all we know, Michelle loves what the man does with her hair and speaks highly of his professional skills but then, at home, she moans that she has to let a “queer”–or worse–handle her beautiful hair.)

Palin sought more taxes and more development from oil companies

In her first speech as Sen. John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin claimed a credential that might resonate with a nation blanching at the cost of gasoline — a record of taking on Big Oil.
“Along with fellow reformers in the great state of Alaska, as governor, I’ve stood up to the old politics as usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyists, the big oil companies, and the good-old-boy network,” Palin said, speaking to a crowd in Dayton, Ohio, after McCain introduced her to the nation on Aug. 29, 2008. “When oil and gas prices went up so dramatically and the state revenues followed with that increase, I sent a large share of that revenue directly back to the people of Alaska. And we are now — we’re now embarking on a $40-billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence.”

We’ve already checked her claim that she sent “a large share of that revenue directly back to the people of Alaska.” We ruled it True.
So here we’ll examine whether she really stood up to the big oil companies, some of the most influential players in Alaska’s political scene.

Palin was sworn in as governor on Dec. 4, 2006. Over the course of 2007, she fought to raise taxes on oil companies. Alaska gets about 85 percent of its state revenue from oil taxes, and as fuel prices skyrocketed, Palin complained the state wasn’t getting its share of the windfall. She successfully pushed for a law that raised taxes on oil profits to 25 percent from 22.5, winning passage in the State Legislature in November 2007. The increase amounted to an estimated $1.6-billion annually more for the state.

Oil companies had opposed the increase, with executives saying it would discourage them from investing in the state. BP Alaska president Doug Suttles said after the Legislature passed the increase: “I can only hope that once the impact of this legislation is clear, the administration and the Legislature will revisit the issue.”
So yes, with respect to taxes, Palin stood up to big oil companies.

Palin has also sparred with big oil companies over who gets to build a pipeline to carry natural gas to market from Alaska’s North Slope. The fields there have enormous gas reserves, but so far they have remained largely untapped due to the lack of a pipeline. Palin’s predecessor, Frank Murkowski, supported a contract between the state and BP, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil to develop the pipeline. Palin opposed that, promising to consider other companies.

Indeed, after she was elected she solicited other bids, and ended up supporting a proposal by TransCanada Corp. to build a 1,715-mile pipeline down the Alaska Highway and through Canada. Exxon, ConocoPhillips and BP all criticized Palin’s move to give the job to the Calgary-based company.

“She has taken an independent position and she has been protective of state sovereignty,” said Gerald McBeath, political science professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
So in the pipeline battle as well, Palin took on big oil.

Palin also continued efforts Murkowski had launched to take back leases the state had awarded to Exxon Mobil, BP, Chevron and ConocoPhillips in the giant Point Thomson oil and gas field. Alaska officials were annoyed that the companies had not developed the field, which would boost state revenue. The companies said the fields posed technical challenges.
In that respect as well, Palin stood up to big oil.

“Obama Voted For Bush/Cheney Energy Bill, Written In Secret By Industry Lobbyists”

    - New York Times OBAMA’S SUPPORT FOR BUSH/CHENEY ENERGY POLICY

Sen. Obama voted for the 2005 Energy Bill, written in secret by Vice President Cheney and the energy lobby. Thomas Friedman referred to the bill as “the sum of all lobbies.” U.S. PIRG noted that the bill’s “heavy tilt toward big oil companies reflects the influence of Exxon Mobil and other oil companies on policy-makers in Washington, DC.”

The Washington Post editorialized that the bill was a “piñata of perks for energy industries.” Indeed, the bill contained $6 billion in subsidies to the oil and gas industry and $12 billion to the nuclear power industry.

Although Sen. Obama voted for the legislation, he has spoken as if he opposed it on the campaign trail, criticizing it repeatedly. At a presidential debate he said “You can look at how Dick Cheney did his energy policy…he met with oil and gas companies forty times, and that’s how they put together our energy policy.” He’s attributed the failure of our current energy policy to Congress’s “failure to stand up to the lobbyists.”

Sen. Obama’s rhetoric blasting the policies of Vice President Dick Cheney and energy lobbyists can be stirring. But Obama’s actions haven’t matched his words.

    Read the details:
U.S. PIRG: ‘The [2005 Energy Bill] energy law’s heavy tilt toward big oil companies reflects the influence of Exxon Mobil and other oil companies on policy-makers in Washington, DC’: “The new energy law’s heavy tilt toward big oil companies reflects the influence of ExxonMobil and other oil companies on policy-makers in Washington, DC.” [U.S. Public Interest Research Group, "How Exxon Mobil and the Oil Industry Benefit from the 2005 Energy Bill," 8/2005]

Washington Post: 2005 Energy Bill was ‘a piñata of perks for energy industries’: The Washington Post said, “…The energy bill, touted as a way to reduce dependence on foreign oil or moderate gasoline prices, has been turned into a piñata of perks for energy industries.” [Washington Post, 7/30/05]

    OBAMA AND SHARIA LAW

yes Obama and his connections to Sharia through the ODM, the Orange Democratic Movement in Kenya with his cousin Odinga who set Kenya to riots after he lost the Presidential election, then blackmailing Kenya with violence such that a new post of Prime Minster was concocted to appease the African Weatherman.

It is the ODM that has embraced Sharia. Look up the article Obama the ODM Candidate for President for further details including ‘Friends of Obama’s” $1 million dollar contribution to ODM, the ODM strategy which involves taking over the media and media manipulation which segues into the ODM strategy against America. This also includes revelations concerning Obama’s trip to Kenya which appears to violate Senate Rules Yes investigate this one our sleuths out there.

The ODM is another MI6/CIA “people power coup” as with those operations against the Ukraine and Georgia. Georgia’s Saakashvilli of course comes to power through heavy funding by Georgia Soros one of the money bags pimping Obama.

So of course decadent Sharia law serves as the perfect backdrop to which to place impotent degenerates like the closet homosexual Obama, the demonic catamites of Daily Kos and such idiots as Alan Combs, where the dungeon master Pelosi masturbates to Bush’s Abu Graib snuff films and eats her own aborted children one could almost literally say in consideration of the evil wrought by the left gatekeepers that would do nothing about know facts as concern 9/11…

Of course radical Islamic terrorism has been run by the British since the concocted it in the 19th century. In the 1980′s and 90′s London was the foreign headquarters for many openly radical Islamic fundamentalist groups. As such the operation of Islamic fundamentalism and radical Islam has always furthered the aims of the British Empire and the Great Game now renamed the Grand Chessboard of Brzezinski Obama’s main handler.

Of course Brzezinski is the one who drew Russia into war in Afganistan against radical Islam. the aim is still Russia, and Barkey will not bat an eye in setting Asia further aflame…
