Sure, it was a great speech–provided one overlooks the fact that it was only your generic republican pitch to conservative cultural values, with a handful of highly questionable assertions:

McCain, the war hero, will win in Iraq. Obama will surrender. (The details of both propositions are admittedly skimpy, but we’ve just told you all you need to believe.)

McCain will cut your taxes. Obama will raise them. (Forget that what McCain is actually talking about are enormous tax cuts for the very rich at the expense of middle-and-working class Americans, while Obama would do things the other way around.)

Drill drill drill! There’s plenty of oil in ANWR! I’m a girl from Alaska, so I KNOW! (Tag on here some vague references to wind and solar power, because those are hot topics for the moment. Forget that America has only 3% of the world’s oil reserves.)

However, we’re going to put BIG OIL in their proper place, you can bet on THAT. (McCain, after all, is always taking the side of the common man against the excesses of Big Oil. They’re only helping to fund his campaign because they appreciate how he’ll help them look out for the publics’ best interests.) Bush, McCain, and Petraus changed tactics and introduced the surge. Obama wanted to withdraw troops right away. The surge worked, casualties have plummeted, and the war is essentially won. Now Obama advocates a surge in Afghanistan. Those are the “details” and you’re welcome.
