Post-Speech Reviews & Pics

Larry Johnson’s live radio show is still going, and the conversation is great!

Mark Halperin’s latest post features this great photo of McCain’s surprise appearance on stage with Sarah Palin and her family. Halperin notes, “The crowd roars as McCain steps on stage.

palinmccainhug.jpg

Halperin also has highlights of Palin’s speech and a link to her prepared speech.

“This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word ‘victory’ except when he’s talking about his own campaign.”

“In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

Adds, while referencing her time as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska: “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.”

Read her full speech here.

Obama camp responds: Palin’s speech “sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years.” Full statement here.

    A seventh inning grand slam.

For those who think that they must support the Democratic party, I would remind you there are more than one way to skin a cat.

If you love Obama, what are you doing here?

If you are only voting for the Precious because you fear and hate (like we do) what the Republicans have done to every part of America…think on this

Obama is not only inept, he is corrupt? Since when does edible fruit fall from a poisoned tree

We will have a democratic majority. If we can displace the worthless Reid with Hillary and ANYBODY BUT PELOSI.. we’ll have a

    congress with a spine
a man in the WH who will WORK IN A BIPARTISAN FASHION WITH THE CONGRESS
and who is running to serve his country…not like the precious who if he gave a flying crap about you or me would have waited at least one more election cycle to make this bid and wouldn’t have had to corrupt the DNC to get anointed

take the longer view…it’s not about HRC, it’s about hoping to salvage a toxic Democratic party before THEY become the neo-cons

it’s about saying I OWN MY VOTE and you will NOT FORCE ME to sanction your corruption

in 4 years, we’ll have a better party…one that serves the people, not one installed to serve an inept, pandering jackass of a candidate

    We’re HooKeD!
    It was great.
Though we found it odd that Obama has been comparing his experience to hers, when he is at the TOP of the ticket and she is the nominated VP.
He is a joke and running scared.

  • Xeno

I heard the speech and thought Gov. Palin did a wonderful job. So did the thug squad on NBC, who gave her rave reviews. The crowd in the convention center, who represent the repug base and her target audience, were delighted by her. Even Williams and Brokaw said Palin was a “charismatic and effective” speaker. By all accounts, she knocket it out of the park.

Which means, of course, that by 7:00 AM tomorrow, at the earliest, the entire M$SM will have decided that Palin was awful and her speech bombed. They won’t let the truth (or decency) get in the way of their orgy of BZero-fluffing.

  • HARP

Michelle will go back to hating America.

  • TxDi

It was great and we are HooKeD!
Though we find it strange that Obama is comparing his experience to Gov. Palins, while he is on the TOP of the ticket and she is the nominee for the VP!
Sounds like he is running scared.

    GREAT SPEECH, Obama who?

  • http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com Uppity Woman

She was awesome! Up your noses, you Regressives. Not Progressives. Regressives. I’m done with you.

  • SJ

I just read Obama’s camp response, even they seem to be still in a state of shock if all they can come up with is Palin is just like Bush lol

  • Xkrat

We just saw the first woman Vice President tonite folks!

…and all those Regressive “anarchists” trashing that city were exactly the spawns of what defeated McGovern. Great job, keep it up you little savages.

    So many zingers….it was amazing.

I predict the Dems just realizes that they are going to lose. Someone will leak a scandal on obama. Obama will be force to resign. Hillary will get the nomination…I will still vote for MCCAIN/Palin.

BBC already have a big splash up with the full text of her speech. Totally GREAT pic too!

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

Obama camp must be saying oh dam, now what are we going to do bet anything by tomorrow you will see Obama going to visit some special needs children or seeing some family of his that has one

  • HARP

I said she would do McCain proud.

Damn I love it when I`m right!!

“Palin’s speech “sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years.”

Translation: ouch! my butt is sooooo soooooorrrrreeeee…

  • http://www.theproblemwithobama.com Matthew Weaver

Anybody notice Obama’s ungracious statement tonight after the speech? Is it a problem with “women” or has he just realized that his 15-minutes are up? Palin framed him in a way that he will not be able to recover from.

I supported Clinton, have made clear I’d opt for McCain if she didn’t win the nomination. Obama didn’t give Clinton even the slightest respect. Still she outclassed him and pledged support. Now, tonight, he’s got Palin on his case and she’s not constrained to be a loyal party member–she’s found Obama’s soft spot–inexperience. Just wait until she gets around to his lies.

  • Fenelon spoke

That’s rich that the Obama team complains about divisive politics Obama’s middle name should be “divsive politics” The fact that things are so divisive sits Sqaurely on Obama’s shoulders.

  • Ani

Gov. Palin hit it out of the park, ladies and gentlemen.

Straight. Down to earth. Connected with the audience and did her job.

She was also very moving when speaking about John McCain. And she pointed out very calmly and clearly that Senator Obama is an empty suit who has written two memoirs but passed no legislation. Ouch.

    Nicely done.

  • Zeke

    See… something good happens already!

  • Mamatx

Obami is probably on a conference call with his 300 advisers trying to figure out how to take out a pit bull in lipstick. All the attacks on her kids and trying to say that women need to be at home taking care of the wee ones hasn’t gotten them very far.

Just heard Laura Ingram say that an Obama supporter & friend emailed her that Palin was “snide”. Did anyone else think that? I didn’t. I thought she was fabulous and tough and smart and funny.

  • Amalia

job well done. and you just knew that Keith Oheissobad and Daily Kos had the same reaction….that she was Tracey Flick. the truth is, she is the
professional and they are the sophmoric ones.

  • SJ

I am so proud of her she is doing on thing that will change this game, she is taking the fight to Obama and all those willing to go toe to toe with her.

Hillary’s problem was that she did not want to do any of that, she came off too soft and that is why she is where she is today, Hillary was too weak to take the fight to Obama

  • Ani

McCain looked thrilled when he made a surprise appearance at the end to greet the family and congratulate Palin. He was whispering to them under his breath “amazing job.”

BBC News: Palin takes battle to Democrats
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7597218.stm
John McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, has made a stinging attack on Democratic presidential runner Barack Obama at the US Republican convention.

Lots of video clips of the speech too.

  • Fenelon spoke

Oh, yes I loved the big smile McCain gave after her speech. I know the VP and the Pres sometimes have to pretend they like each other, but I think John and Sarah really do!!

  • felizarte

That is one liberated man on stage proud to hold his son. I guess he has to be, being married to a wife like Sarah Palin.

  • Palin kicked poor Barky’s ass back to Mars

  • tampagurl

Loved it when she spoke about the greek pillars from the DNC convention. The lady is not afraid of straight talk- just like her running mate McCain.

OK now who can tell me on thing that Obama said in his speech but I sure will bet that this speech from Palin people are going to remember a lot of lines, regardless of which side of the fence you are on.

  • Disguested with Obama

does anyone know anything about OB meeting today with the FBI and any charges against him?

  • Geraldo

They’re new to each other but it’s important for the cameras they don’t hug too long – otherwise Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, Chris Matthews, and Keith Olbermann will have a field day. And Olbermann will attack them asking “HAVE YOU NO SHAME?” So it’s important their public personal relationship be well orchestrated. Privately however it’s difficult to see how two such people could not be big fans of one another.

  • Jackarooty

Please understand my cynicism I am truly Nobama but he’ll work that one through the Kennedys and the Special Olympics but you are definitely on point!

  • Milly

Brave woman, she delivered as I expected, well done Gov Palin and thanks Sen McCain for trusting her and giving us ‘a real hope’ for good things to come!

  • http://www.liberalrapture.com/ John

She is one tough woman. Wow. She gave the speech I wanted Hillary to give all year.

Here is what happened to me to night: I TRUST PALIN. I trust if she did become President because of something happening to McCain she would have to learn quickly but she would. I trust her. That is what I needed.

  • yttik

I am definitely voting McCain/Palin. I want the authenticity of hope, not the audacity.

  • Palin kicked poor Barky’s ass back to Mars

Maybe Barky will lose his special media darling status now that Palin has arrived.

  • Deidre

She delivered. I have decided, finally.

    McCain/Palin 2008

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I’m surprised they didn’t yell “racist”. LOL.

  • McHope

Me, too. And I expect- we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
No wonder they tried to take her out so viciously.

  • zygodactyl

Within the hour, I’m sure we’ll hear that she was too shrill, too sarcastic, her hair was too long, her skirt was too short, her stance was too wide, her heels were too high, her lipstick was too bright, and she probably had that not-so-fresh feeling, blah, blah, blah. She hit a grand slam!

  • It’s Not Me

Obama camp responds: Palin’s speech “sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years.”

They’re joking, right? Out of the mouth of the most divisive attack dog campaign? Now THAT’S Chutzpah! The BO campaign and his supporters have done nothing but attack this lady ever since she joined the McCain ticket and they have the freakin’ NERVE to accuse HER of divisiveness?

They’re obviously worried because they know they’ve royally screwed up by not having Hillary as our nominee….fools.

  • Destardi

I’m right there with you Linda….

But apparently the years of republican over the top, bitter partisan bullshit, it looks like the dumb dems on our side of the fence have taken the bait…and forgotten about America as a W H O L E.

  • Jackarooty

Olbermann is despicable. He fancies himself a journalist and he’s nothing more than a TV news entertainment show host partisan hack.

I checked in with MSNBC very briefly long enough to hear Rachel Maddow (wearing her lovely Drew Carey eyeglasses)refer to Palin’s “phonetically correct” speech patterns talking about subjects that she was not familiar with.

So sorry Rachel but we’re not all Rhodes scholars like you getting our own show on a second rate cable station.

  • HARP

So much for her stepping down

  • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

Our nominee doesn’t run with the Washington herd.

He’s a man who’s there to serve his country, and not just his party.

A leader who’s not looking for a fight, but is not afraid of one either. Harry Reid, the Majority Leader of the current do-nothing Senate, not long ago summed up his feelings about our nominee.

He said, quote, “I can’t stand John McCain.” Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps no accolade we hear this week is better proof that we’ve chosen the right man. Clearly what the Majority Leader was driving at is that he can’t stand up to John McCain. That is only one more reason to take the maverick of the Senate and put him in the White House. My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of “personal discovery.” This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn’t just need an organiser.

Tell you what…I don’t care who wrote the speech…they got it right on this. It’s the same reason they didn’t want Hillary. She would have made them work

  • Destardi

I thought I saw McCain mouth “you bet she did” or something

One of my favorite lines!!! Wonderful.

I was at McCain/Palin headquarters here on the Monterey Peninsula. Big enthusiastic crowd. I’m volunteering. She is a huge hit.

  • PJ

Are you kidding me? Hillary not only had to take brutal beatings daily from the propaganda machine called the MSM but she had to hear the loud and constant backlash from her own party whenever she critisized “The One.”

    Not a fair comparison.

  • heather

“not like the precious who if he gave a flying crap about you or me would have waited at least one more election cycle to make this bid and wouldn’t have had to corrupt the DNC to get anointed”

Isn’t it time for the 527s to let it roll?

A Very Short Comment about Sarah Palin’s Speech…
    http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/2008/09/03/a-very-short-comment-about-sarah-palins-speech/

Anyone who can erase the stench of Guiliani must be damned good …

  • Destardi

Being LOYAL to your party, and friends who are your party members does NOT make one weak.

It is OBAMA who tore down fellow dems such as Bill and Hillary who is the sniveling coward.

    Anything to win!

  • Freedom Fighter

The founding fathers designed checks and balances into the American political system. If one party controls every branch, corruption will be the inevitable result.

  • McHope

    Yay yttik and Deidre!

    Also just wanted to mention,
Weren’t Huckabee and Guiliani great as well?

  • http://snunes.blogspot.com Susan Nunes

She exceeded expectations. She was okay if nervous at first.

If the media goes after her, it will create more sympathy and votes for McCain and Palin. Which is the entire point of the media attacks. Call it reverse psychology.

Always remember the national media has long been in the tank for McCain. They are NOT supporting Obama; Obama will not win because he isn’t supposed to.

  • http://www.governuts.us Agust304

    My prediction.

Palin is real. Biden is toast. Obama team will continue to spread lies. Polls will be tied by Tuesday. VP debate will give GOP +4. 527s will kick in around Oct 10. Public sentiment will put MAC up ten. ACORN will make up for around 7 and McCain will win by 3.

  • Thinker

    :(

I wish Hillary had the nomination.

    I’m still grieving.

Watch Newt defend Palin against a reporter:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8zXi90EVeg

This is how people in your own party stick up for you when you are being wrongfully attacked. The Democrats sat by and watched all the misogyny hurled at Hillary, watched how the nomination was stolen from her, and they need to go.

And I agree Mimi, if this was Hillary vs. McCain/Palin, of course we would pick Hillary. Sarah rocks, but Hillary is in a league of her own and irreplacable.

  • Mr. Natural

I turned on CNN. Larry King’s first guest, an obama shill, had the colossal gall to characterize her speech as the same old “divisive” politics.

Criminy, after the shitstorm those creeps have sprayed around Sarah Palin’s family for the last five days.

  • http://snunes.blogspot.com Susan Nunes

Giuliani’s speech was the one to hear. This had ALL of the red meat the GOP will use through their 527s to attack Obama. It will be a bloodbath. Obama will be lucky to win DE and IL when this is over with.

And that was the plan all along. Voters were manipulated from the beginning.

  • Darryl

Saw this on yahoo, someone repeated it. They give them one word to repeat “snide” is going to be that word. watch, you will hear various versions of arguements all with “snide” in them. This is yet another sexist attack.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I trust her common sense. Presidents don’t make decisions out of the blue. They have lots of help. I trust Sarah to know who to listen to and who not to.

I love that strong determined chin and stubborn lower lip. It says to me that she does not suffer fools gladly. Sarah’s a no nonsense kinda gal…just what I like.

Rudy redeemed himself with me tonight too. OK Rudy where’s that tape?

  • Jackarooty

    Lol!

I did love that moment when the camera showed little Piper holding Trig and she was spitting down his hair with her hand. He’s not challenged in any way to her…just his hair! Too cute for words.

  • Observer

Absolutely not! I think you have shown your true colors!

This remains a pro-Hillary Clinton and anti-Obama blog. We are for now supporting McCain/Palin in order to purge the Obama disease.

But our ultimate loyalty and support is for Hillary Clinton!

    HILLARY!!!!

  • http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com InsightAnalytical-GRL

Yeah, it sounds so canned, like they either didn’t listen to what she said or, if they did, they didn’t know how to respond.

  • http://snunes.blogspot.com Susan Nunes

Biden isn’t toast. He would destroy Palin in a debate. Biden’s only competitor is Biden.

Remember nobody votes for the VP anyway. Obama will be the issue, and there is nothing Biden can do about it.

  • jjran

I could kiss Sarah Palin now if that is allowed. Hillary did hold back during the primary b/c everything she or Bill said was turned into a racial attack. I just love the GOP. They are like you want to call us racists… ? Go ahead. The war just started…. it was a field day tonight…….. Two months from now, no one will remember who Obama was….

  • McHope

Of course not! She was genuine, strong, effective and funny! The best critism they can come up with is that this was a scripted speech and it’s questionable whether she can do well extemporaneously. Hello? This is not Obama we are talking about here. LOL.

  • pcbedamned

For the first time in my adult life, I wish I were American…
    A Canadian Conservative
(Sarah knocked it out of the park!!!)

  • Hope Floats

Right? I’m watching Larry King right now. Harry Reid called her “shrill.” Roland Martin was indignant that Sarah Palin condescended to community organizers BWAHAHA. But it seems she scared the living daylights out of the opposition.

  • NoBO

I liked Giuliani’s speech but Sarah Palin hit it out of the park! Lots of great lines! It was thrilling, exciting, powerful, and lots of deeply satisfying jabs at Obama. Loved it!

Of course, CNNobama are carping about the nasty divisiveness but that just means the speeches were great. ;)

  • Observer

    Absolutely, Hillary always!!!!

    Hillary ’12!!!

  • Mr. Natural

Some of these guys are really funny when they cut loose.

  • PhxNickD

She has convinced me I no longer have to fret about voting for McCain. Like Bill Clinton said “…you have one candidate you agree with 50% of the time but know they can deliver, who you going to vote for?

  • Freedom Fighter

Yes, but the problem is that Obama is trapped with endless comnparisons to the VP candidate on the Repub side.

  • SJ

Obama and the crew are going to go running off to Hillary now and ask her to come out strong against Palin.

I can bet anything this is what they will want her to do, I only hope that she does not because it will be the end of Hillary’s political career.

  • http://lnab.newsvine.com/ Linda

if the republicans REALLY wanted to yank the teeth out of Obama, they should talk about the fraudulent caucuses that gave him a 127 delegate lead and the coup d’etat led by HD and the other idiots at the DNC.

Most Dems don’t really know what happened. The republicans could explain it to them and in short order Barry would be toast.

  • PhxNickD

We can hope. Four years with this woman as VP will probably provide a very formidable opponent for Hillary.

  • Hope Floats

During Giuliani’s speech, the crowd booed NBC. LMAO.

  • Thinker

    Hillary wasn’t weak at all.

The race card is a very powerful card, and if her delegates were to nominate her, she would be known as the White woman that stole the White House from a Black man.

    1. If Hillary had taken the nom, Barack would have been seen as a victim, when he is the actual perpetrator of voter fraud, and widespread corruption.

    2. The whole world needs to see, once and for all, what a corrupt fraud that Obama really is.

    3. When Obama isn’t elected President, people will NEVER be able to say that it’s Hillary’s fault.

  • joe

It was a national security briefing. You know, this guy couldn’t get a security clearance for an entry level job in the FBI or the ATF. He should not be getting briefings until he is elected, which will be never. :)

  • Hope Floats

Oh, sorry, that was Sarah not Rudy.

  • heather

I don’t believe that. The best actors in Hollywood could never create the roles of Keith Olbermann, Jack Cafferty, Donna Brazile, and Roland Martin leg tingle. No, those pundits are and have been completely in the tank for Obama.

I think every time they call Palin “snyde” gthey should play Obama’s brushing his shoulders at Hillary.

They have painted themselves in a corner. Obambi is running on Clean Politics.

Palin made no such promise and is going to rip them a new one. And we are going to love it when they get exactly what they deserve.

Hillary had no choice in the face of all those race cards flying around.

The only way to defeat her is to pick on her and I believe Oblahma used up all his free get out of jail female bashing on Hillary.

  • heather

There ya go, FF! The first thing you’ve said that I’ve agreed with. We shall have an overwhelming Democratic majority in Congress and a moderate Republican in the White House. Perfect.

  • Mr. Natural

It was a national security briefing.

Is that the truth or a cover story?

  • Kathie In Arkansas

Shrill? Isn’t that what they said about Hillary? Those giant sucking sounds you hear are the women leaving the Democratic party.

  • Thinker

    Still she outclassed him

    - I was thinking the exact same thing. Hillary has more class than Pelosi,Dean,Brazile and Obama combined.

  • rwc

It was terrible to watch Hillary be savaged by the press and see no high ranking Democratic stand up for her. Even the Democratic women with the exception of Ferraro bailed on her.

    Shameful.

  • Zeke

    JB,
Even more than that, my friend… Every time they use the excuse of “Four more years of Bush,” or any of its offspring, they have been hit very, very hard.
Something you do when you really get nailed in a fight is “go on automatic,” if you have anything in the way of a programmed fighting response, you fire off that muscle message and watch what happens from what is left of your conscious mind. Its sorta like looking down a dark hallway at the real world. Oh, and there’s a lot of pain, too.
The point is that its an automatic reflex.
They truly have no cogent responses to the ‘Cuda’s statements. She spoke the Truth.

Yesterday, one of us got so angry at the Obama machine’s evil attacks on Gov. Sarah that he said we needed to attack Obama the same horrible way. I believed that was not the way to do it and said so. A couple of you thought differently and said so. I now very proudly say to you…
Did you see that woman? Did you listen?
Did she drop down to their level? Did she answer adequately for you?
That is how you do it, ladies and gents… that is how you gather people together and give them real hope.
I am filled with admiration at how she has handled these awful personal assaults and, by the simple use of the truth, reduce the other side to falling back on its only possible response… “More of the same…”
This is the start of the demise of the Obama campaign.

  • McHope

The Democrats sat by and watched all the misogyny hurled at Hillary, watched how the nomination was stolen from her, and they need to go.

    They hurled it at her!

  • PJ

Just one more thought on this subject – if it wasn’t for Hillary Clinton, there would be no Sarah Palin.

Still, I thought Sarah was magnificent this evening. I do appreciate that she paid tribute to Geraldine and Hillary when it was first announced that she was VP.

  • http://! Freebird76

    Hillary has my vote.

If it a choice between McCain and Hillary …

  • Objective analysis

She knocked it out of the park. Obama is scared of her and McCain for real.

She is about as adorable as they come. She has a really beautiful family.

Did you see McCain great them at the airport and when he came out on stage tonight, he smiles at them like a proud grandfather. What an honorable and decent man.

    Joe Biden from earlier today:

“He is my good friend,” Joe Biden told a large crowd here tonight. “I get in trouble for saying this with some real strong Obama supporters. … [But] if John McCain picked up the phone today and said, ‘Joe, I need you to get in a plane and fly out to Missoula, I can’t tell you why,’ I’d get in a plane and I’d go.”

Later, when asked about an effort by Republicans to portray their ticket as one of ethics and reform, Biden called McCain “a thoroughly ethical guy.”

  • MaryPat

Keith Doberman tried to blunt the positive “Norma Rae” comparison by saying Sarah was more Tracey Flick than Norma Rae.

This occurred exactly 30 seconds after I checked in at MSNBC to see if their heads were exploding after Palin’s wonderful speech. Say what you will about Keith, but he is the soul of consistency. I always expect him to an asshole, and he never disappoints.

In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers.

And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

They’re the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms,

not just on buttons and banners, or on self-designed presidential seals.

  • Thinker

    True.

And we all know that the GOP didn’t want to run against Hillary.

An official Obama nomination pretty much guarantees another Repub in the White House, with or without Palin, who is very likeable.

  • OBushMA!

Exactly, Sarah was selected by a man as his second in command. She has the full support of her party behind her, and she has McCain fending off any jealous Republicans to protect his investment in Sarah Palin.

Hillary was the first viable woman candidate who on her own initiative ran for the presidential nomination, a whole different and greater challenge. She only truly had Bill, Chelsea and a small circle of loyalists on her side. The rest were turncoats and backstabbers. Still, she won the primaries but never had control of the party, which without a thought betrayed her.

Remember, the Republicans are only nominating a woman VP 24 years after the Democrats. They are not trail-blazing at all, but they certainly have a better chance of succeeding, thanks in part to Hillary’s historical effort this year.

  • joe

The funniest thing about that attack line is they are trying to place some great import on a speech writer. And, they are going to have egg on their face when news comes out tomorrow that she wrote most of the speech herself. That’s her style – she likes to write herself. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least bit.

The BHO campaign is basically steering without a rudder right now. They spent the whole convention building up their GE attack line and message – that’s not change, that’s more of the same – a 10 % chance on change – whatever other crap they had. they planned on riding this throughout the general. Then Palin came along and they laughed at first, then pulled back, but still didn’t realize what they were in for. After tonight, the are messageless and it is evident in their statement. Most people look at that and are like – huh?? That’s like saying that BHO represents the Clinton dynasty. They are screwed!

Here is a prediction for the 2008 general election posted on January 17, 2008 (please see the link below). “The male presidential candidate who runs with a woman vice presidential candidate on the ticket will win the election by a landslide.” I thought it was about Hillary for a long time, but I was wrong. This is a rather long prediction, but if you read it, you would be amazed how accurate it is. There is something I don’t want to see it happens….and hope it is wrong.

Hillary and Bill Clinton were treated like pariah’s by the Democratic party.

Bill is a two-term Democratic president and was portrayed as the head of the KKK and the Democratic party said nothing.

I’m starting to wonder if the GOP didn’t pay them off.

Why would any party say nothing when the one man who lead them to back to back championships in what, 40 years, was accused of being a racist?

    Something doesn’t add up.

It’s almost as if the Democrats are being paid to throw this election.

Hillary should never, ever act as Obama’s attack dog against Palin.

He needs to close this deal on his own.

The DNC bought him, let him stand on his own two feet.

If they really wanted a winner, they would have picked Hillary.

She should now be permanently unavailable to Obama and his campaign.

  • Hope Floats

Oh, if you talked about my children like that, I’d be more than “snide.” So funny listening to his camp whine about how McCain only criticized Obama, but he didn’t talk enough about the economy or offer real solutions or discuss policy.

RULE 1: If you have a good idea, Obama will steal it, even if he was against it an hour ago. “Change You Can Xerox.”

But the first three speakers were Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina and Mitt Romney touched on the economy. Sarah Palin was specific which taxes would be raised under an Obama administration.

And really, who cares? We know that Obama cannot be trusted and neither can the Democratic party be trusted with a rubberstamp Congress.

  • Judge

Moron Republican talking. You are just lucky that politics make strange bedfellows. This alliance is only temporary to bring Obama down.

  • Ai1een

Yes – here we go again…”SHRILL”.

“SHRILL” is the word some DNC elite and other male media pundits constantly said about Hillary. (“Shrill Hill” – remember?)

It was the “accepted term” (wink wink) used to put down Hillary by the media who belong to the (forgive me for being blunt) itty bitty penis club of the MSM. You know them as Olberman, Matthews, Tucker Carlson, Shuster, Anderson Cooper, Andrea Mitchell (who I’m not convinced isn’t a man in disguise) Jake Tapper, etc. who were and are…after all… maddeningly JEALOUS.

For, as was evidenced during the primaries and tonight, BOTH HILLARY AND PALIN have bigger balls than THEY do (& they’re smarter & tougher too)!

  • Republitarian-No-Troll

As a 52 yr. old male Republican and Libertarian, I was VERY happy with Gov. Palin’s speech. I hope she fights the smears coming her way soon.

  • jwrjr

    That’s not difficult.

  • Xeno

Good for them! (Never thought I’d say that about any group of gopers.)

Is there anyone in America who doesn’t recognize the obviously pro-bama slant of NBC News and the M$M in general? When they were biased against the dems it was offensive, and it’s equally awful now that they are biased in favor of one particular dem. What this country needs is balanced, neutral news reporting that treats all politicians the same and covers issues in depth without an ideological slant.

  • joe

I know what you are saying, though. The more compelling narrative is McCain/Palin. The old war hero who beats all the odds at every occasion they are presented to him, while standing up for his principles throughout his career. It seems as if it would almost be unfair if he didn’t win. It would not be a happy ending to an otherwise powerful novel on American heroism. But if he wins, we might just get another “folk hero” president, and who doesn’t want that?

What happened is that they were expecting a Lieberman and a Ridge, someone the media could at least accept. Instead, McCain, being the courageous fighter he is, made a choice for his party, his country, and females that he knew he would pay a price for with the media. This VP is unacceptable as McCain’s because she represents everything the MSM hates. So they rebel and try to take the conservative woman down, in a way that I hope we never see recreated in this country. But Palin perseveres and the media can’t help but focus on the more compelling narrative — the war hero and courageous statesman with his frontier, everyday woman running mate. It’s almost reads like a novel, and that is why McCain will win.

  • Thinker

And I think this is what they are going to do.

The GOP will make is very clear that Obama stole this election, and that he is an illegitimate DNC nominee.

Maybe Hillary will then be able to step in and become the nominee??

  • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

Well, honestly, my gut feeling is that Palin will be our first female president, not Hillary. But she will be a GOOD president, if that does indeed happen before 2012.

It worked on me. I think she hit it out of the ball park. I’ll bet the bounce from this is a 20 pointer. I seriously think yet once again and mainly from not offering real dramatic trade and economic policy change…the Dems just lost the Midwest with this speech.

I mean come on, there is the media, the press, the feeding frenzy chewing on her leg and she just said the biggest eat shit and showed the vultures what they are and came out of it with not even a scratch…in one speech. Amazing.

Don’t think the GOP isn’t ready to combat this voter fraud. If anything, the GOP has plenty of attorneys and politically savvy people. And after this Palin thing, they have an ARMY of foot soldiers. BHO thought he had a lock on the ground game, but not anymore. When the right wing gets fired up, they work damn hard, and the right wing hasn’t been this fired up since the 80s. They felt beaten down and like their worldview was becoming irrelevant. Know, they have hope and they work hard. I predict the game ground games neutralize each other because Obama has lazy, unmotivated volunteer base compared to the GOP.

Larry King’s Obama supporters are moving the goal posts, saying Palin needed to talk about policy.

Before the speech everyone was saying this was about introducing her to the country. It’s not the job of the VP to talk policy at the convention.

Yes, Mac’s advisers, and Mac in particular, are very shrewd and politically savvy. Obama, Axelrod, and Plouffe are amateurs that don’t belong on the big stage battling the GOP.

The only person who seems to know how to take on the GOP effectively is Carville, but he has been marginalized to TV, and even he laughed at the Palin pick. I guess that shows that Mac wasn’t playing poker or craps – he was playing chess and he went for the risk check, which left him exposed. As long as his opponent didn’t recognize his weakness on the first move, Mac would then move into checkmate. That’s what happened folks – as soon as the BHO campaign came out with the experience statement, they sealed their fate. Fuck you, Bill Burton. Go back to Congress where you belong, you hack!

I watched tonights speech and thought Sarah was AWESOME…I also felt very sad for Hillary. She did not have the backing of her party like Sarah does. If anyone deserved to be backed by their party is was Hillary, but it is hard to win when you are being stabbed in the back. I hope all of the women that are supporting Obama, will take a really hard look at what they are doing. The women in this country have been the backbone of America. We are the mothers, the majority of teachers, the caregivers. We are the ones that run the homes. When I see women who supported Hillary putting Sarah down I think “what the hell are you doing”. To contnue on this way is not paving the way for another Hillary run or for our daughters. Isn’t it time we chose someone like us, and I don’t mean party. I will vote for McCain and Sarah because I am tired of empty suits. I want someone who knows what we are all going through and wants to make things better for all of us and not just themselves.

I am a die hard Hillary supporter, but I would be OVERJOYED to see Sarah and Hillary both top of their ticket in 2012.

I think it would be a GOOD thing for this country, no matter who won.

  • HillGirl

Take note, DNC. What the GOP did for Sarah Palin this week is what YOU should have been doing for Hillary Clinton for 18 months.
    You suck, DNC.

  • Freedom Fighter

It’s funny how the MSM were acting like high school mean girls trying to rub Sarah’s face in the dirt to show a country bumpkin how things are done in DC, and Sarah basically told them to fuck off, and kicked their asses.

  • Hope Floats

Why is Hillary being defended and promoted right now like she didn’t go along with it when she was told to “sit down and shut up”?

She did everything Obama and his handlers demanded of her. She is out of the race. Does anyone think she will replace Biden as the VP or become the nominee still?

  • AnnieO

    Reid’s response to Palin’s speech:

Here’s Reid spokesman Jim Manley’s response, sent to

    Politico a few minutes ago:

“Anyone who knows Sen. Reid knows he never backs down when he’s fighting for what’s right and that he always stands up to John McCain when he is wrong,” Manley said. “Shrill and sarcastic political attacks may fire up the Republican base, but they don’t change the fact that a McCain-Palin administration would mean four more years of failed Bush-Cheney policies.”

    Will they ever learn?

  • vinnie

both would suit me fine. Time to shake things up a bit.

  • Katherine B.

I can quote about five lines from Sarah Palin’s speech. I can’t remember a single thing that Biden said.

  • Geraldo

I thought Rudy was good. In fact I started worrying he was the Rolling Stone to her. I thought he was good. She topped him – topped them all migod – but Rudy was a great lead-in. Talk about orchestration. What a build-up. The precise order of speakers. Ms eBay wasn’t great; Carly was a bit better; then the heavies, all good orators; then Sarah – and her love affair with the audience and the camera. She cuts through the Obama bullshit like she’s what everybody’s been waiting for – she’s the CURE.

    But Rudy was good too!

  • rickrickrick

Sarah Rocked it and tipped the cow.All Donna Brazile could do was moap and belittle Sarah. Donna said the bar was set low so the speech was no big deal. Wanting to know what Palin was going to do for the single mother with a child. Good lord the woman has 5 of her own you’d think she would be thinking about putting food on the table as well. Obama & Biden are always parading the down and out working class and there plights for two reasons. They haven’t lived it, and they don’t represent it.

    sarah tore it up tonight.

  • Zeke

If she isn’t in the process already, she soon will be getting in contact with the few remaining unbowed Dem’s that she might be able to trust and start rebuilding very quietly.
She will also be reaching across the aisle like never before and I think there will be a decent reception.
But there will be a purge. Revised, nobama dem’s have to do a lot of housework before entertaining ideas of controlling the party again. Its got to be done, though.
That seems to me the next priority after Barry loses and we get to do something to get that under way this election cycle. If we can knock out any incumbent and make it known that they went down because of their underhandedness and support of Obama, then the tide will turn in a hurry.
“That’s not the Barrack Obama I knew,” will be the new mantra.
We will do this… Oh, hell yes, we will…

  • Vince

I suspect a growing backlash against the media for all the Palin attacks is coming. Once that hits, Biden will be told and understand in no uncertain terms that attacking Palin directly will be suicidal to the Obama ticket. Biden will be relegated to debating McCain and Bush and Sarah will simply devour him. Too late in the debate he’ll take a swipe back out of desperation and anger and she will retain her calm, making him look that much more pathetic.

    My prediction.

  • joe

Don’t forget — CNN is pissed because they got to nasty with the campaign and they won’t send anyone on their shows for now. Serves them right. I also haven’t seen Bill Bennett around very much lately either. Are conservatives making a statement to the public about CNN?

I was just going to post that about the youngest daughter, Piper. She was so adorable. Sarah’s children look as if they have been taught how to behave in public and are comfortable with it. Obama’s kids are cute too and well behaved but the interaction of this family is just too fun! They cover all the bases; half Indian husband, special needs baby, political mother, pregnant soon to be married daughter and fiance…Mrs. Palin is one terrific woman who knows exactly who she is.

I am also so angry with the Democratic Party for selecting Obama. What a waste of energy that will prove to be.

    BUT

I am thrilled that I can support and vote with McCain/Palin to lead America. I voted Democratic my whole adult life. Now I am firmly back in the Country First Camp I voted for Reagan when I was 18 and only once and as an Montanan/Alaskan/Washingtonian I am proud to say I will cast my vote for John and Sara!

  • Thinker

What’s amazing is how Hillary had so many battles to fight:

    1. The Obama campaign and their racist smears

    2. The Media and their sexist smears, and they jumped on the Obama bandwagon and implied that she was racist.

    3. High ranking members of the Democratic party that treated her like a leper.

    4. The GOP that possibly had their own operatives in the media. I don’t underestimate them at all.

Sarah has it easier in the sense that she and her party are fighting bad press. Her party actually supports her. She isn’t fighting 4 different battles all at once.

I noticed Palin referring to McCain’s presidency as “the next four years”. I’ve read that McCain made a pact with the GOP not to seek reelection after his first term is up, most likely due to advanced age. But who the hell knows what will happen in four years? I never thought someone worse than Bush … Obama, of course … would be this close to being POTUS.

Then again, Obama has referred to his possible presidency as 8-10 years.

  • PoliticalWaif

CNN’s Candy Crowley did an inadvertent(?) swipe at Hillary, saying that in all her “experience” in election coverage, she never saw a woman who went on the attack and came out on top.

    Really?

Was Hillary so long in the past that she forgets she got the popular vote, and supers were denied a complete roll call vote due to last minute negotiations by Obama?

And Hill didn’t get those votes because she was sweet and demure. Obama still bears the scars… and they will be re’opened time and time again before November.

I have been a Democrat since the early 60`s and have supported every useless candidate they managed to put forward. In the words of Obama……ENOUGH!!! • John

    Are you a bit dense?

Hillary hands remains tied while the “Democratic” Party is under the rule of the nutroots and Obama. She has to bid his time, and she can only take back the party if Obama is proven a spent force.

Make no mistake. Palin had it easy. She didn’t have to fight anything to get to be the VP nominee. She only, had what, five days of cruel media exposure? Hillary had 16 years of the beating storm.

    I like that!

Hockey mom tonight just slammed the Chicago con!

I read Soetoro-Obama’s “acceptance” speech — and I cannot remember one damned thing– it was blah — nothing. As a general rule — if I read the speech I remember at least one or two major points.

Sarah had so many lines in her speech that will be repeated — and another thing her speech was from a real person to the American people. She was not acting like a preacher and she put on no phony airs — she is who she is. As my English friends say — Sarah is a practical person. Now I didn’t quite understand their meaning of practical person — until I hear Sarah’s acceptance speech.

As a life long rural person (even the military bases I grew up on were mostly rural) I liked the way she took on Soetoro’s elitism (snobbery).

So now I know what our next VP sounds like!!

Actually I thought the little girl was adorable and she seemed to enjoy being there so much – she was not shy at all…the other members of the family were a little shy it seemed to me. The baby is very sweet and the whole family obviously adore him. I believe Sarah’s husband is l/8th Eskimo not half Indian – but could be wrong….

The speech from Sarah was great – she was tough but with a smile and captivated the audience with her charisma and smarts. Her comments about Obama were right on and with humor which made it even more effective-

Same as Guiliani earlier he was great and obviously meant every word he spoke and concerned re the next president should not be Barry…Yup he said Barry!

  • ming the merciless

The economy? There’s a problem with the economy?

Obama actually had a few specific things to say about the economy, you may recall.

He had some very specific things to say about the grossly inequitable McCain cut plan, which will give billions to those who least need it while both increasing the federal deficit and disadvantaging everybody else. Ms. Palin blew right by that with a distortion of what the two differing plans are actually all about.

Obama also had some very specific things to say about fiscal responsibility, national defense, public education, the foreign outsourcing of American jobs, our declining manufacturing base, our ruinous dependency on foreign energy sources, the challenge of climate change, the crumbling infrastructure, health care, retirement security, women’s reproductive rights, equal pay, veterans’ benefits, and so on.

Sarah Palin seems to have reduced an eloquent speech intended to lay out our problems and an agenda for addressing them to a single snide remark about styrofoam pillars. I think it’s fairly apparent which speech was actually devoid of any meaningful content.

The republicans are evidently so convinced that Obama is merely a “celebrity” that they’ve decided to fill out their ticket with one of their own. The problem is that when you scratch through Obama’s “celebrity”, you find it’s covering some very weighty policy content.

Hope and change are just the attitude you take to work with you. It’s the very real work to be done that the democratic platform is actually all about. Democratic policy is at the very core of Obama’s pitch. Republican policy is the thing that the republicans are trying hardest to hide.

Obama’s “community organizer” phase was about political power, not soup kitchens

But you also make sure that Official X knows so long as he helps you out, you will help him out too. After all, as a community organizer, your job is not to change the system; it is to master and use the system’s rules to your advantage.

If you think these tactics resemble standard forms of political intimidation, you are right.

Obamabots are really out of touch on this one if they think they can get milage out of attacking her on either character or experience. But since most of them live in an echo chamber they think they’re scoring lots of points because they can make each other laugh by tearing someone else down. To everyone else they’re just revealing their own lack of principles and character.

It’s the same thing that carried Clinton over Dole and Bush over Kerry. People will identify with Palin as she will be seen as “one of us” and has the kind of personal narrative that people can relate to. I won’t say that it’s anywhere near over, but the Obama campaign just suffered a huge setback.

I knew McCain turned down his appearance tonight to protest the Campbell Brown interview. At the convention tonight, it was made clear that media is no longer trustworthy, so just ignore them. It sent a strong message, and the pundits tried laughing it off all night.

Larry King had three women Obama surrogates, and it screamed panic. They fell back on Bush scare tactics, and you could tell King was unimpressed.

Obama on O’Reilly tomorrow won’t make the splash they hoped. Tonight was too memorable.

  • Obama’s gums look sick

The leftie press chattering class had Gov Sarah Palin drawn and quartered, died and buried in less than 48 hours, when they did not even know her. Now let the fun begin.

How embarassing for them. But many of us already knew this when they gave Hillary Clinton the exact same treatment on the same total lack of substance.

Obama lives in a self-inflicted echo chamber and now is hearing only the sound of one hand clapping.

    McCain-Palin – 2008 and 2012.

  • KathyNeocon

Very true and very sad. Hillary and Sarah have done and will continue to do our country proud, not to mention they’re proud Americans. They actually love this country–fancy that.

  • Geraldo

Oh but there you’re not going deep enough. Remember that pathetic speech Obama gave after Wright? Remember how the Obama camp leaked that Obama wrote the WHOLE SPEECH IN ONE NIGHT AFTER MICHELLE AND THE KIDS WENT TO BED? LOLZ If you believed that one! No campaign manager would ever let a candidate – especially a candidate as empty headed and fatuous as Obama – write a speech all alone. And ESPECIALLY not a speech the Obama campaign considered so important. And even if a candidate tries to write something you know damned well the experts in the campaign will go over it with a fine tooth comb.

But could they do that in the middle of the night? When did Michelle and the kids go to bed? How many hours would it take to write that much gibberish? How many more hours to PRACTICE the speech, to proofread it, to edit it?

And all this was done all alone by Obama after his queen and children went to sleep?

Like I said: if you believe that…

And so we’re back where we’ve always been with Mr Cheap Suit: not only is he same old same old but he’s a hypocrite.

  • ming the merciless

I’ll let the character issue go–although Ms. Palin’s repeated mischaracterization of her opposition to “the bridge to nowhere” certainly raises an issue: she’d wholeheartedly supported receiving federal funds for the project until it became politically expedient to change her position.

The experience issue, though, is something that can’t be overlooked. However likeable Ms. Palin might be, she has no foreign policy or national security background whatsoever. Given John McCain’s age and health history, that she would be only a heartbeat away from the presidency is far more than an idle observation. A self-described hockey mom assuming command of our military forces in a moment where we teeter on the brink of global thermonuclear war might be the stuff of an entertaining movie, but the possible reality of such a scenario should scare the cr-p out of all of us.

  • pcbedamned

Unfortunately, I am not willing to give up my Health Care. And just as Americans love their country and freedoms, so do we Canadians. We too are a free country sans the racism that seems to permeate yours. Oh, and we had a women Prime Minister back in the early 90′s. I must say, one thing that I have learned after following your election and the comments of many people, Canadians and Americans aren’t really all that different. The media is a bastardly thing that shapes far too many peoples’ perceptions. It is time that we, the people, take the time to learn on our own to form opinions with the brains the Good Lord gave us, and get to see people as people.

Ming the Merciless: Obama is never at a loss for things to say. Lots of talk, and zip for performance. He raises lots of cash, and blows thru it just as fast. What history he does has reeks of corrupt, old school, Chicago politics.

What’s most important is what he doesn’t say. How his tax increases on business, payroll taxes, increased estate taxes, energy plan (without giving us a bridge to live within reason until that new energy grid is ready) will affect you.

As Fred Thompson said: naw… it won’t affect you. As long as you don’t have to buy groceries, put gas in your car, or patronize your local business owners who will be passing their tax increases right along to you, the consumer.

  • KathyNeocon

  • jangles

Republicans have been complaining about the “liberal media bias” ever since the media fell in love with JFK and in truth there has been a shadow of that. The old requirements for equal time kept it in check. Then Reagan came along and we got new media rules and no more equal time requirement. The results did not help the Republicans much but in the move to talking heads their is far more punditry opinion on the “news” than there is news. Until the Clinton’s and Hillary’s race I don’t think I realized how sharp that bias can be. I can not believe how I have resorted to Fox News, they truly are the only ones who are even marginally balanced and not openly in the tank for Obama. So John McCain is no media darling waiting for his media blessing. They just don’t trash him too painfully. Sometimes I think the media is just so immersed in pursuing ratings and audience share that they will do and say anything including making everything up just to sell themselves.

Guliana did have some great lines tonight (and some drivel) but my favorite was about the Republican party never saying to a woman that she could not hold a responsible high level job and have kids. It brought the house down and you know what, it was good to hear. But I thought they have come a long way but I give them credit for coming down that road.

MSNBC reported on the teleprompter operator error and it was picked up on hillaryclinton.forum.

Hillary is a star of her own one woman show. Sarah is a great second-bill co-star for a rather dull male candidate. When Sarah gets 18 million votes on her own merit, we’ll talk. Hillary is a Dem lioness, caged for now. Sarah’s the Rep pitbull who’s the flavor of the week. Her mission for the next two months is to distract the BO camp and draw favorable attention to the Rep ticket. She certainly has promise and will become more if elected. But for now, there is no comparing Hillary to Sarah as equal.

I gave her credit just for going forward and not dropping out like others wanted her to do but that was one of the best speeches I ever heard — certainly better than any Obama ever gave. Everytime I see Obama putting his fingers together and shaking his hand as he speaks he looks like a baby with a rattle.

That so many people are so enthusiastically getting behind a person that they knew nothing about until a few days ago pretty much makes my point. They still know almost nothing about her. They know almost nothing of her opinons, or of the depth or shallowness of her knowledge of the world. This lack of information has been maintained thusfar by keeping her completely away from any media exposure that hasn’t been very carefuly controlled. No one I know of has seen a single in-depth conversation or interview. Consequently she’s a figure to project expectations and assumptions upon. A suddenly famous face. My definition of sudden celebrity.

It wasn’t politically expedient for Obama to change his position on FISA. It was polically damaging. You haven’t noticed that? He took a huge amount of heat from his democratic base almost immediately, and he’s still paying for the decision.

I suppose he could have simply skipped the vote, like John McCain did. That would have been expedient. Or he could have simply voted the way people thought he should.

  • Zeke

    PJ,
SJ may have a partial point in that Hill could have hit harder but when you do that to someone in your own party, you can damage things too much. I also think that she might have taken him as her VP had she gotten her due and it hadn’t been proven what a crook and cheat he is.
Therefore, it is possible that through betrayal early, (and taking the phone list with her) a race card here and there to bleed her a bit more, and the caucus frauds (which will NEVER happen in my precinct again… might make the news though) Hill may have misjudged the level of wrongness that is Barry Obama and it cost her the nomination.
That is one interpretation. I favor a mix of that strongly flavored with the simple fact that had that sonofabitch not cheated, that democracy would still be grinding along the sorry old way it always has.
I am of the opinion that there is the possibility that not only can the mental fog that is Obama be lifted, but that there will be a renaissance in our country.
A re-birth which is centered on the fact that WE know how close we have come to losing our country to a man whose lifelong personal agenda is based on resentment and hatred of all the things about this country that we hold dear.
If we have been dealt lemons, let’s get out the lemon recipe book and get to work. If its shit, we’ll get out that recipe book and force feed it to those sonsofbitches over there. What really wins for us after we stomp this upstart is making our country strong again.
Let us find platforms we CAN and need to agree on and get those done sans partisanship. Nothing will end this wussy pessimism that is the Obamanation like getting off our asses and accomplishing something together. Check history and see what a Dem president did about the depression. He sure as hell didn’t tax anybody… who had anything to pay with?
We will make this thing better by cleaning it up.
Think of it as scandisk.exe for the country!

  • AnnieO

Oh, that’s right Baby Killa doesn’t do lobbyists. That’s why he voted on FISA the way he did or the live birth abortion bill.

I only defended why Hillary didn’t stand up for Palin and the sexism.

I am far too cynical to believe that Hillary even wanted to be on Obama’s ticket. She knows he is going down and hinted as much a few times.

When looking at the convention and the MSM attacking the Clintons for daring to speak at his coronation. It makes me think the Clintons had to fight just to be able to speak. It looked to me like the Obamas expected the racist smeared Clintons to tuck their tails and be grateful for the scraps.

They ‘negotiated’ for months for their traditional convention rights. While the Obama people complained that the Hillary people were like the ‘Japanese soliders’ who wouldn’t surrender.

That says a lot about those back room talks. Hillary wasn’t sitting down and they didn’t like it.

Frankly, they expected everyone in the Dem party to ‘sit down and shut up’ and thankfully not everyone did.

  • Obama is a bum

I like the Country First theme, it is so much better than the Change theme of Obama. I am tired of hearing Obama and his supporters constantly criticize everything about this country and apologize about to any country that wants to listen to this loon.

Perhaps we should give some consideration to how the republican policy of spending more money than the government collects in taxes affects us.

A 41% decline in the value of the dollar in only 7 years is one such effect.

That’s the invisible republican “tax” that people don’t stop to think about. The irony is that it hits people who attempt to live in a financially responsible manner the hardest of all. If you worked hard your entire life and managed to put $100,000 in savings, it’s now worth $59,000. Have 6 years of Bush tax cuts made up the difference? Do the arithmetic. They haven’t even come close.

After 7 years of republican economic policy, including those Bush tax cuts, average American workers have seen a very significant decline in both their net worth and their real wages. Personal debt levels have been significantly increased to try to make up the difference.

A friend of mine who lives near Wasilla distantly knows Palin, and said that in Palin, common, everyday Americans will have an ally that won’t have to ask her advisors what the price of bread is. She described Palin as “a typical Type A working mother, intense and accomplished, but not having a lot of free time to, you know, get too impressed with herself”. LOL.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I loved the sour, sick look on the faces of the leftie ladies(?)on CNN with L.King: Stephanie Miller and two others who looked like they had just swallowed something that got stuck in their craw. No smiles. More like…Uh Oh, this is serious.

  • Yo

The absolutely heart melting moment for me was when Sarah’s little daughter spit on her hand to slick down Trig’s hair. You could see the love in all the kids eyes for their baby brother. It was so touching and we laughed so hard at that part. She reminded us of a momma kitten washing her baby.

  • Thinker

    That is not true.

Without Obama on the ticket, a vote for Hillarya is a vote for America.

    Get it straight Geraldo.

    Stop lying on Hillary.

  • Snickers

Me too. Hillary all the way. If she got the nomination by some miracle, that is. Unfortunately right now I’ll have to vote Republican.

  • baseballny

Hillary doesn’t have a chance against Sarah.

All conservatives and half of libs hate her.

By the time Sarah Barracuda is done the libs who aren’t in jail will be begging for quarters ’cause their government checks will have dried up.

  • BlueTopaz

    ROTF Hahahahahahahhaha

  • nickoury

What’s Mars ever done to have to put up with stinky?

  • Geraldo

Yeah. Use the camera where you see Barry wetting his panties. Obama on O’Reilly? OMG. That could be very very bad. As O’R is naturally going to be for Sarah. If the interview is live Obama is in trouble. Might as well be a debate haha. Which makes me wonder: perhaps this is the best the Obama campaign could come up with to counter the RNC bounce? This could be catastrophic. If something bad happens – and you know Rove will be all over the transcript – it could be too much for the community organiser from Chicago haha.

  • ming the merciless

Whatever. FISA actually had nothing whatsoever to do with my point.

However likeable Ms. Palin might be, she has no foreign policy or national security background whatsoever.

That was my point. If Ms. Palin were to suddenly become president at a moment when the country hovered on the brink of war, we probably wouldn’t be quizzing her about her thoughts on telecom immunity.

  • Thinker

    Same here judge.

To all of you Republicans showing your true colors:

    This alliance is only temporary.

We need to clean our Democratic party, and will do that by voting for a Republican, but once our house is clean and back on the right track, we are still Democratic voters.

If Obama isn’t on the ticket, and if it was Hillary against McCain, a REAL Hillary supporter would vote for her, NEVER against her.

We now see right through you harp.

  • Geraldo

A key to all of this is purging corruption. And there I think Sarah can make a difference.

  • http://www.redstate.com/diaries/redstate/2008/aug/30/tale-of-the-tape-sarah-palin-vs-barack-obam/ Jeremiah God Damn Amerikkka Wright

Only Obama is allowed to run for an Office with ZERO experience in ANYTHING other than campaigning.

The MSM has made that clear.

  • HARP

    That high huh!!

  • Geraldo

Be grateful he screwed up as much as he did. At least he’s been exposed now. If things go the way we want then his career is burnt toast. That’s a Good Thing™. Darwinism at its best.

  • Geraldo

    Agreed!

  • BlueTopaz

Obama= a noun, a verb and an uuuuuhhhhhhhh.

  • Zeke

    Waif,
Thanks… it completely explains the Bridge to Nowhere and Sarah Baracuda’s decisions.
    Thanks

  • Geraldo

And I think that’s what people sense now. This GE is not about the same issues it seemed to be about a year ago. People are rallying to the GOP because the enemy of their enemy is their friend.

  • Betts AZ

I see a Father Phlager moment… only it’s Barry who plays the Hillary role….

“WHAT????… WHO IS THIS WHITE WOMAN????….

  • DannyB

I think the point was that it was George Bush’s speech writer, not simply that there was a speech writer.

  • Snickers

Yes, Karma, unfortunately that is the political reality.
    Hillary PUMA

  • Geraldo

Oh then I think they will bring it up alright. Anything to expose him. Of course they will. Who would have thought 24 hours ago they could hit as many points as they have in a single evening? Just wait if eBay/Fiorina/Romney/Huckabee/Giuliani/Palin go on a rock tour. Same act as tonight. Big rallies.

  • Thinker

I understand the part about the useless Dem candidates Harp, I really do.

My problem with you is that you are lumping Hillary in that same category and that is wrong.

If the Dems nominated Hillary, voting for her IS actually putting your country first.

    :)

  • Geraldo

Who was it here said they were the IBPC? (The itty bitty penis club. Haha.)

  • PJ

Hillary would have united the party by putting the loser BO on the ticket. I’m sure of it. It would have been the nobrainer thing to do and we all know that she’s smart.

It makes this agnostic think that maybe there is a bigger plan and maybe BO shouldn’t be anywhere near the oval office. Hillary would have guaranteed it.

  • Snickers

Lochos Vestu – thank you. Hillary over Palin any day.

  • Geraldo

Did Obama slam into the sideboards and hurt his face? Just wondering. Haha.

  • warehouse553

I dont think age is a factor as much as looking old! Mitt Romney doesn’t look 60. Ron Paul is 71 and his age is not issue because he doesn’t look or seem old. McCain was tortured and that affected how he aged and how is perceived to be old.

If Hillary ages well, in 4 years, and sounds mentally sharp, her age wont matter!

  • WMCB

Obama does not have that experience either.

So you are saying we should be worried if McCain dies, but equally worried if Obama lives?

  • Geraldo

Oh but it’s already out there. Sarah was front page stuff within minutes all across the globe and everyone was fawning all over her. It’s a bit late for the MSM to change much of that.

  • Zeke

    Lochos,
Geraldo and you may be getting trolled here. What works to help Barry is divisiveness. What creates divisiveness is a troll sliding in and pissing on the parade.

  • J.J. (The Puma)

It would be very fun to see Hillary against Sarah in 2012.

But of course there is one little thing standing in the way. We can’t have Obama running for re-election.

  • Geraldo

Uh yep. She’s not a career politician like that.

  • dr. zarkov

How’s Rudy’s run for the White House coming? I understand he was trying to work out a deal to retire his debt by taking a cut of any funds he raised for the McCain campaign. Maybe he’s getting paid by the laugh.

    Extremely good point Bue Topaz!!

I will continue you to support Hillary as well.

    Harry Truman in heels.

I know, their positions on some issues are not the same – but, the spirit, that rugged no-bullshit attitude, the “Give’Em Hell” look in the eye, that is what I saw in Palin’s speech.

I’m a Democrat, but she earned my respect.

  • Snickers

SJ,obviously you’re no Hillary fan. And very obviously you lack information and facts. Give it a rest. Hillary is head and shoulders above Palin.
    Hillary Harridan/PUMA

  • tampagurl

First of all Ming, Sarah is running for VP,I’m sure John will address those issues when he gives his speech.

Do you own stocks, mutual funds, buy groceries, cloths, cars, do you have a job? The reason I ask is because all of those things will be effected in a negative way by Obama’s plan. So I guess we’re back to hope and change.

  • VMorris

The DNC esponse is very lame and lacks originality and humor.

The Arugula ‘R Us party needs some new material.

Hillary over the both of them anyday.

Hillary has had to fight for everything that she has won.

  • WMCB

I feel much better! I just got my usual money-begging letter from Howard Dean. My reply:

Sorry, Howie – you and Pelosi and Brazile made your bed with an utterly inadequate candidate, now lie in it.

This FDR and Clinton Dem is voting McCain/Palin. If you wanted my vote in November, you should have counted it last week. I am already donating to them, thanks.

Oh, and Sarah Barracuda ate your Boy King’s lunch tonight. Middle America and the swing states are going to love her.

Oh, and please do send Hilllary out to campaign – every time you do, you just painfully remind the voters once again how stupid the Dems were to muscle her out.

    Love and kisses, sweetie,

    One of THOSE women

  • tampagurl

Will someone remind Mr. Reid that the senate in which he is the majority leader has a lower approval rating that GWBush?

Really someone should tell him people in glass houses don’t throw stones especially, when our country is in need of an energy plan and those lazy assholes go on a 5 week vacation. We need to fire them all!

  • Ai1een

That IBPC comment would be me. Sorry…couldn’t resist.

  • ObushMA

In that movie in your dream maybe. BO ain’t going to transform the world and neither could Sarah. She is as green as they come to Washington politics. D.C. tames newcomers, not the other way around. Once she becomes the status quo, it would impossible to reform anything. If she makes too much noise, guess what, McCain would shush her. Afterall, pitbulls can’t run wild; they do have masters.

What a concept a person running for office that can really speak and clearly make her points.
The faux new democratic party can kiss their asses good bye.
The saddest thing for me was thinking that if the dems had any courage or sense we could of had the best. Instead we got the worst candidate ever.
The roll call broke my heart.
    Look at the difference.

    Jack Booted Conservative here again,

I must say to the folks on this site. You do realize you have trancended partisan politics? Governor Palin is about as red meat eating a Conservative as I, and many others are. But she wears heels, that is the only difference. The reason I bring this up is not to mock you, but to bring light on the fact that you are voting for our country and not your party. As I said in my last post here, we can resume our fight in 12′ or find more common ground. I am slowly becoming a fan of the latter. Also, I am very proud to count you all as allies against Obama.

    C.T.

  • NoBamaNoWay

yep, and the B-word is indeed flying on the obamacrat sites. as much as people here dislike obama, somehow we manage not to refer to him with race-based slurs.

  • Darryl

I noticed that too. Did you see how they kept trying to stress to the guys there the importance of how she shunned Obama in that Oh so woman way. They didn’t get the girl code. They just kept talking about how this and that state was going to be Obama’s and the women just stared like, “WTF, didn’t you hear what I said”. It was so funny.

  • Darryl

    Thanks.

  • Brendy

I used to like Bill O – but I quit watching him because I think he’s arrogant, loud and rude to his quests. In earlier segments, I always thought he was too easy on Obama – and the interview he did on Hillary was tough. I doubt Bill wil ask Obummer the REALLY tough questions. Bill is just doing it for ratings and he wants the dems (liberal dems) to love him as much as he thinks most republicans do. Ratings mean MORE money for Billy Boy.

I won’t watch O’Reilly because Obummer absolutely makes me sick and I cannot stand to watch or hear him speak. I DO hope he bombs, though. (Without speech writers or a teleprompter – that shouldn’t be too hard to do!)

  • http://powerandcontrol.blogspot.com/ M. Simon

Hillary will never accept the nomination.

The MoveOn crowd that has taken over the party must be destroyed if she is to stand a chance of being her own woman.

A win with them controlling the stings is no win at all.

    Hillary will pass.

  • tampagurl

And why does ming keep comparing Sarah to Obama? Although, Obama does have some experience in a mysterious trip to Pakistan after he graduated.

  • helen

The only good thing that has come out during this election cycle is that people are no longer just voting for a party.
The are using their brains and thinking what is good for the country.
If it takes a third party to bring people that want the best for America, that is not a bad thing.

    COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

  • sfhillary

Actually more women than ever are voting Obama in polls this week, but since when did reality matter to a PUMA? I watched Palin’s speech tonight. You are all sickening for supporting such sneering vitriol directed at a sitting Senator and fellow citizen. Absolutely nothing spoken at the Democratic convention or ever in this campaign by Senator Obama came anywhere near the ugliness I heard, and I think America heard, tonight. If this level of politicking actually works I fear for the future of this country.

  • anotherthompson

As a Republican I realize the Democrats are going to keep the Senate this election cycle. If so, it would be pretty cool if you guys gave old Reid the boot and put Hillary as Majority Leader. With Palin as President of the Senate and Hillary as Leader they might be able to get something accomplished in an otherwise do nothing congress. Two strong, smart women working together Putting Country First would be pretty cool.

Lochus Vestu, Yes! Hillary always. And frankly, while I’m glad the Republicans had great speeches tonight and will win the election, it is very bittersweet for me. It should have been Hillary running.

  • Ai1een

O’Reilly said today that Palin didn’t have the qualifications to be VP, but said NOTHING about Obama not having the qualifications to be President.

IMO, O’Reilly seems to kneel down to Barack Obama in his attempts to show the world how “Fair and Balanced” he is, all the while missing the opportunity to be truly powerful and incisive and ask questions that have, heretofore, NOT been asked by any reporter in the MSM.

I’ll bet money he will fail again. I hope I lose that bet.

  • Seattle Moss

    Your such an idiot sf!
    Your polls mean nothing…
Didn’t you watch the speech tonight?
I know it must be hard for you right now..

Hillary Clinton over Palin, any day, any time, always!!!

I fear a country that has a candidate who wished for defeat in Iraq.
Who refuses even now to acknowledge the success of the surge.
If we had listened to Obama America today would be a defeated and humiliated country.

What you saw tonight was patriotism and pride for country.
    sf…You’re Anti-American!!

Absolutely fantastic speech! Sarah has shown that she’s a force to be reckoned with. The Obama camp must be crapping in their pants now. The thought of it brings a smile to my face. Hillary – I’m so sorry that you didn’t get your chance this year and I’d love to see you run in 2012 but if McCain/Palin get picked, you might have stiff competition from the Republican side, if you get my drift:)

  • tampagurl

Maybe she should have used her preacher voice like Obama or preformed a few healing, you think that would make the bots happy?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/PaulFVillarreal Paul F. Villarreal

Here’s the video I made on this subject — my reaction to Sarah Palin’s magnificent speech.

‘I Just Might Be a Republican Now:’
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91YUzPdQrRM

    Hope you enjoy it.

  • Ai1een

Oh yes. Giving Reid the boot would be such a pleasure. Hillary truly is a highly intelligent, informed, superior leader. Larry Johnson has said this as well (my paraphrased summation). Hillary has also crossed party lines for the good of our country.

By rights, Hillary SHOULD be our nominee, of course, but at the very least she should be the one to take over Pelosi’s position of POWER in the DNC. Don’t know if this will ever happen.

In a strange way, perhaps the DEMS seeing how powerful Palin is will embarrass them or make some of them turn around and realize what a magnificent jewel they had in their hands and what they so maliciously and ignorantly threw away.

  • sfhillary

You think Palin’s speech worked because you are a member of the community of ignorant, know-nothing assholes to which the speech was directed: the Republican base, the most disgraceful subsector in American politics. Nixon, Reagan and the Bushes all ran campaigns like this successfully.

    Not. This. Time.

You still don’t know what you’re up against. I will relish the bewildered pain on this site on the evening of November 4th. You are everything that that is wrong with this country. You want to empower a woman who clearly believes that the Bible should supercede the Constitution. and you’re all too stupid to care. Fucking Republican sheep.

  • Lochos Vestu

Whatever, as long as Obama is defeated this election.

Frankly, I am starting to feel a bit uncomfortable of being too close to McCain/Palin. I remain a steadfast support of Senator Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton.

Nothing is ever going to change that. I am just holding my nose to vote for McCain/Palin this coming Nov just to get Obama defeated. McCain/Palin will be a disaster, but not as bad as Obama, so I’ll take the lesser of two evils.

That’s not too say, of course, that I didn’t enjoy Palin cleaning Obama’s clockworks tonight.

    HILLARY CLINTON ’12!!!

    HILLARY CLINTON, ALWAYS!!!

  • JohninCA

    Talking Points Update

OLD TALKING POINTS. McCain blew it. Begin Palin candidacy death watch.

NEW TALKING POINTS. Tougher to deliver with a straight face, but as below.

(Palin’s speech) “worked wonders – for the Dems.”

“In the past several hours, Dems I’ve spoken with and who’ve flooded my inbox are energized. A woman friend and Democrat who had not worked for Obama’s campaign: ‘I am volunteering tomorrow.’” (fivethirtyeight.com).

  • Lochos Vestu

Another moronic statement from a Repug. Check Rasmussen’s poll. Hillary will beat Palin flat.

Make no mistake. Palin will be unpopular in 4 years later if she gets elected. She is as inexperienced as Obama, and the only advantage for her is that she is not Obama. Republicans will still remain a disaster, though not as bad as Obama would be.

Don’t take our hatred of Obama as our love for Palin, or blind support for Republicans. This is for now, if you may say, a marriage of convenience.

    Palin is no Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton will beat Palin FLAT!

    HILLARY CLINTON OVER PALIN, ALWAYS!!!

  • Brendy

Hillary acting as an ‘attack dog’ against another female candidate (even though she’s of a different party) would NOT go very well. It would come off like Hillary was jealous of her or that she (Hillary) doesn’t think a woman is capable of being a VP. NOT GOOD! Hillary is a WOMAN, first, remember. A WOMAN who tried to become the most important person in the world (in a MAN’S world).

  • Tristan

That’s your best argument? No foreign policy experience? By that logic Clinton-Gore was an unqualified ticket and no governor could be Vice-President.

Oh wait, McCain’s old, how clever of you to remind us with your concern about Palin’s experience. I’m sure that wasn’t your point at all.

Well, maybe if McCain dies, Palin could pick a VP with foreign policy experience. Sort of like Obama just did a week ago. Of course hopefully she would pick someone who didn’t go on record six months ago saying that Iraq was lost.

Or Palin could just rely on her advisors. She does have executive management experience, after all. As does McCain, who was a Captain in the Navy. They both have run something more significant than an election campaign.

Now, can you please direct me to your equivalent post on Gov. Tim Kaine’s experience? Otherwise I have to assume you’re holding a woman Governor to a different standard.

  • Snickers

I did do some research, and I’m on the a lot of evironmental list serves and try to keep on all the issues. I don’t think Palin is that great on protecting wildlife, and I have other issues with her. But if we want the Democratic Party back and rid ourselves of Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, Reid, et.al. I guess I’ll hold my nose and vote McCain. But I’m still sad Hillary is not the nominee.

  • Lochos Vestu

Thank you for your concern, Zeke. While I will vote McCain/Palin this Nov, I will never be a Repug. It is merely a marriage of convenience to bring Obama down and purge the “Democratic” Party of its extremist left-wing disease.

I am glad that Palin cleaned Obama’s clock tonight. But I will not be getting too close to her or McCain, and I advice you not to do so as well. They remain Republicans, and for now are preferable because they are not Obama.

  • Lochos Vestu

Very true. Same here. Just holding my nose to vote Repug this Nov, because the alternative, Obama, is much worse.

    HILLARY ’12!!!

  • Snickers

Hilgirl owns her vote just like the rest of us, and is allowed to make her own choice. And I’ll probably be bashed and hated for this comment, but our planet is in peril. Some may not believe in the climactic changes and global warming, some may think it’s simply a cycle we’re going through. However, a BIG piece of ice just broke off another ice shelf in Canada and one of the biggest things contributing to our environmental disaster is overpopulation. And saying that, IMHO, when you choose to have a lot of children, even if you can afford them, someone else is being deprived of much-needed food or water or other resources.

  • Lochos Vestu

Thanks, Snickers. Hillary will be back in 4 years, to clean up the McCain/Palin mess. We’ll sure have a lot of Moose carcass around the country by then. But at least no carcass of Obamabot fanatics, or Obama statues.

    HILLARY!!!

  • navyvet48

What acceptance speech did you watch from Invesco? All I heard in that speech were misleading lies about McCain….it was McCain this and McCain that! Good lord have your ears cleaned. Obama’s speech plus everyone else’s at the Democratic National Convention was anti-McCain or feeding the narcissism that Obama suffers from. If you can’t admit the truth then say nothing at all.

  • Snickers

Aw Ming, The One has even less experience and he’s corrupt. Put a sock in it and stop bleating such idiocy.

  • Ai1een

Funny YouTube of Ben Stein…he cracks me up talking about the inexperience of Palin and her utter lack of knowledge about the economy…truly funny, for she’s done an excellent job in helping to turn around Alaska’s ecomony…people with a struggling economy aren’t going to give their Governor an 80% approval rating, but low and behold – 4 out of 5 Alaskans LOVE Sarah Palin. That wacky Ben Stein – remember, he is a COMEDIAN after all.

  • Lochos Vestu

Quoted from the Confluence which was quoted from somewhere else…

This is one commenter over at La Althouse:

From now on, when a Democrat says “But what if McCain drops dead on his first day in office?!?!?!” I’m going to say “dude — don’t tease me like that.”

  • Lochos Vestu

Sorry Obamabots, you are on your own. You and your “messiah” are official screwed.

Frankly, had you pick Hillary as your VP, McCain might not have picked Palin. And even if he did, Hillary can easily nullify Palin because more women do identify more with Hillary, her struggles, her pains, the browbeat she has gone through.

Basically, the Democrats screwed up big time this election.

2012 awaits. Make sure you support Hillary this time around!

  • Lochos Vestu

What a laughable “brave face” put on by those panicking Obamabots. You reap what you sow.

    HILLARY, ALWAYS!!!

    McCain at poker:
“I’ll meet your Obama and raise you a Palin”

    thus “raising McCain”

  • Lochos Vestu

Oh, be assured, Hillary will beat McCain/Palin or just Palin in 2012. McCain/Palin will still be a disaster that needs a Clinton to clean up after them.

  • jvp

    sf,
If you were actually competent in your understanding of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, you would understand that as has been demonstrated in the democratic primary, Obama employs the corrupt machinations of Chicago politics. Moreover, your ad hominem (not even creative ad hominem) merely provides a glimpse into the mind of an apparatchik and prosaic epigone.

  • Snickers

Lochos Vestu, I’m with you. For me, this is also a marriage of convenience, and I’m not all ga-ga over Sarah. My vote is theirs this election, but my support is solidly Hillary.

  • JohninCA

Relax– just a little harmless parody on the plight of Team Obama tonight.

It’s getting like I’ll have to put disclaimers or something.

  • Ai1een

    AnnieO –
The beautiful part is, it no longer MATTERS what the Obots they think…it only matters what mainstream America thinks and that speech tonight spoke to mainstream America.

I wrote John McCain’s campaign yesterday (for what it’s worth) and said if he would only acknowledge in his speech the sexism that Hillary was subjected to and tie it in with what Sarah Palin has been subjected to – he will gain millions of Hillary supporters. For what the DNC and Obama failed/refused to acknowledge was that Hillary supporters are still LIVID and are seeking validation that SEXISM by members in their own party and the MSM did indeed trump RACISM in this election season. We need to hear it, we need it to be acknowledged, for when they treated Hillary this way, they treated ALL of us this way. Until this acknowledgement happens, we know this abuse has no hope of being repaired.

If McCain were to do this tomorrow night, he will gain enough Hillary supporters to be able to say at the end of his speech, “Thank you”, “God Bless You”, “God Bless America” and btw, “Checkmate”.

You are starting to sound like one of those Obamabots drinking the kool-aid, except this time for Palin.

Palin is not equivalent to anything, she’s just another pol. I would appreciate it if you stop “hero-worshipping” her or put her on a pedestal like those nutroots do to Obama. We don’t need an “Obama-Repug”.

    HILLARY OVER PALIN, ANYDAY!!!

    HILLARY, ALWAYS!!!

  • WMCB

I’d love to do that, and some PUMA’s are trying to organize pressure for it. Hill is great at working across the aisle. She’s co-sponsored bills with Lindsay Graham and several others.

She and Sarah both seem very practical people at heart, not just ideologues. Reid is a tool.

Hey, what’s with Todd holding the baby? That would never happen in an Obamite family. The Mom would be holding the kid, staying home, and baking cookies. I am woman, hear me roar: “Dinner is on the table.” Judging from Demo commentary, that’s the change that Obama seeks.

and i turned on the news and witnessed Larry King asking the most ridiculous leading questions, sexist questions, barbaric questions… to 3 of the most backwards, sexist, racist, ignorant women i have ever seen in my life…

one was a congress woman no less…

not one person from the Republican party was present either…

    A review from England:

    A Roman triumph

    Jim NaughtieThu 4 Sep 08, 08:08 AM

How do I describe the Sarah Palin experience? Her speech to the Republican Convention was a Roman triumph: there’s no doubt about that.

I was sandwiched somewhere between the Kansas and Arkansas delegations on the floor of the hall and there was weeping and wailing throughout (and no gnashing of teeth). At the end, people were luxuriating in that strange mixture of relief and exhilaration that comes only after a period of tension, because no-one knew whether she could deliver.
They loved it, as they should have.

It exculpated the feeble George Bush performance on video of the night before – and it reminded them why they are Republicans in their party of today. It reminded me of Norman Tebbit or Michael Heseltine or Tony Benn at their height, lifting a party audience in Blackpool or Brighton to a brief passage of frenzy.

The danger is comparing Senator Clinton and Gov Palin; we can support both, not falling for another division.
As there are two different stories, related, similar, but different.

Senator Clinton ran for President-was smeared and savaged by her own party, and the media, no support beyond her supporters and family, and very loyal group, and we still love her.

Gov Palin was chosen by the Presidential Candidate for the VP nod, with the support of her party, but also being smeared by the media, we have come to love her.

Similarly strong, with different circumstances, different means by which they came to where they are.

I like to think we have the ability to understand, that it is not and either, or situation. Right now is Gov Palin’s time, Senator Clinton should not have to defend her in a political manner, but I believe all women in a sense, feel just as a woman much was out of line used against both women, unfairly, and to the extreme. No one would hear us when we yelled back, to help our Hillary, so now we yell again because it still is wrong, these same tactics used on another woman. There is no party affiliation, when it comes to sexism. The Republicans have done what the Democrats didn’t do, they defended their won, and in different circumstances. If O had not pulled that race car, or used blatant disrespectful means of sexism and race bating on the Clinton’s, there wouldn’t be a divided Dem party voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. The false racism charge, the sexist foul media and campaign complicity is what has put us here.
Senator Clinton is not to blame, she has the right to be whatever party she chooses, she can defend Gov Palin as a woman, but not as a Democrat, and she most certainly cannot attack Palin as a woman, only as a politician, on political grounds.
We can love them both, don’t fall for anyone telling you other wise, we have had enough division in our country, which will be our undoing if we don’t stop it. Country first, and I will not future trip on after this election regarding a fight between Senator Clinton and Gov Palin. I will focus on now and the task at hand, beating O.

  • Patrick Walker

Maybe 2 bright spots in all the mess are: The “Press” are dead and jokes and maybe McCain/Palin are truly for reform of the Republicans and the corrupt systems of Governance in the Houses.

  • Patrick Walker

We’re trying to give Kerry the boot, it would be rich if he loses the 9/16 primary, but his opponent isn’t doing anything. I’ll go straight ticket R this year. And when TK goes, maybe we can get a strong R candidate (Oh, Mitt? Where are you?). This state (MA) has voted in a too straight line for the Dems for far too long. The addictive qualities of incumbency give these clowns a job for life, unparalleled medical care and a nice pension, staffers and hangers on, then if by some miracle they get booted, they become a lobbyist, at a high multiple of their previous salary.
If the office of POTUS has a two-term limit, why not Senate and Congress? That is the real root of the problem.

Another home run Paul! I think I figured it out last night also. Why I connected with her, it’s not just because she’s a woman. It’s because she “is” a mother. She’s a sister and a daughter. Where else did her youngest daughter learn to lick her hand and put down that fly away hair on her brother’s head. I remember doing that to my own babies. ;)

She is small town America, and represents the best that embodies small town America. She’s not big city corruption. She doesn’t bring vanity and conceit. She brings humbleness and passion. She not only loves this country, she loves the people of this country. Especially, the children of this country. She’s not looking out for just her children’s future, she wants to look out for every child’s future. She spoke to every mother, grandmother, future mother last night and she connected. The same as Hillary always did.

The problem with this New Democrat Party is they want to put us in a box. To label who we are. To tell us what it is we should believe. The issues that are important to us. They don’t want to look at the complexity of who we are, the individual. The fact that there are just as many issues that concern us as there are that concern men. But, they better get used to it and real quick. Many today are the mother’s and the father’s of their family. The backbone. The bread winners.

She was awsome , she hs my vote, and as for he republicans bravo, for standing up against the sexism and the O supporters who post demeaning comments, standing up for Palin, unlike our democratic party for allowing the sexism and racism in the race that demoralized Hillary, I will not vote for a party that allows this to happpen to the most qualified of the two, and not stand up too it, but turned a blind eye to it, and condoning the Chicago political machine.

As many of us saw last night , she is one of us, who work hard to achieve and provide for our families, , unfortunately all cannot stay home, and raise our children, but we do our best, and for the fools to think that woman, do not work and take care of their families, and think that everyone holds their stand, I m here to say , wake up millions of families, have to do this, to provide for the welfare and security of their families. The media has somehow painted successfull woman who work, in general all woman who , raise a family are bad mothers? Im sorry but Im not one to sit at home and accept welfare to raise a family if i was a single mother, I was taught if you can work , work hard and do your best no matter what, like many woman, who find themselves single and raising a family. I praise those woman, who are single and providing, and in no way will i demoralize them, no matter what the occupation.
I own my vote and will vote for the most qualified of the two candidates and the one who has more integrity than a community organizer who has ties with shady friends, , I will not be a silent vote, I supported Hillary , and unfortuntly the party went with the Godly One , who connected to voter fraud, sexism and racism against woman , who campaign feed the degrading bloggers, instead of experience and the best qualified to lead. A silent vote is a stay home vote, a sign in vote for Hillary, a fall in line vote, a third party vote, for Obama and the Dnc concerning the sexism of Hillary and the demeaning of her record of turning a blind eye.
Those of you who are friends of puma on facebook make sure you sign the letter, getting Hillary to lead in the Senate, to take over Pelosis Job, there are 18 million voters who voted, and Pelosi has proven she is no true leader not standing up for woman, and the will of the people , to Drill, she has forgotten who she works for, and so we must bann together to place the one who is truly ofr the people, Hillary has earned that position and we must do our best to copy that letter and connect as many of her supporters to Puma and Will Bowers, Hiedie Felman, of the Denver Group forgive me if i misspelled it , , and the other coalitions, citizens for McCain, to sign and deliver for Hillary. If anyone has the link can we get it posted so we can get the signatures we need, to do so.
Lest roar, and let the DNC , Obama supporters, and the sexist media hear our disgust with the them, degrading Hillary and Palin, we will not take anymore, if you cant disguss policy and record shut the heck up.

I own my vote, McCain Palin 2008

Hillary Clinton will stand up for what is good for Hillary Clinton. Sad to say but Hillary is washed up and washed out. She may remain a senator for years, but never president. She is no Bill Clinton and I don’t mean that in a “sexist way or misogynist way” but as a matter of fact way, she simply can’t hold a light to her husband and should have given him free reign to fight back in the primaries. Too late now.

  • Kevin

Got a little note from my pal Howie that I would like to share

    Kevin —

Yesterday, John McCain’s campaign manager told the Washington Post, “This election is not about issues.”

It’s clear why the McCain campaign doesn’t want to focus on the issues — their platform is the most extreme we’ve ever seen from the Republican Party.

The Republican platform opposes embryonic stem cell research. It denies a woman’s right to choose, even in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. It fails to mention equal pay for women. And it barely acknowledges the $10 billion a month we are currently spending in Iraq.

Rather than run on the issues, McCain and the Republicans are running from them.

They are hoping a barrage of misleading attacks that smear Barack Obama and our party will distract voters from what’s really at stake.

Make a donation of $25 or more to defeat John McCain and the Republicans, and stand up for what you believe in as Democrats.

John McCain doesn’t want you to notice that he has voted with George Bush 90 percent of the time.

And he doesn’t want you to notice that his plan to help the struggling middle class is more of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

We need a leader who is ready to solve our problems, not make them worse.

Show your support today with a donation of $25 or more:

    http://www.democrats.org/fightback

The general election has begun, and it’ll be a fast race to the finish.

Now is the time to come together as a party and take back the White House.

It is imperative that Obama is defeated then we will actually see this so-called change we can believe in. Obama will be relegated back to the Senate and he will be lucky if he can get elected again. The caucus will probably be eliminated. Playing the race card will curtail. The Democratic leadership that created this fiasco will be replaced.

If Obama wins then their will be mayhem.

  • http://deleted Kathleen

Hillary had her hands tied behind her back and a gun held to her head by the DNC and their Precious and she still kicked obama’s butt. The DNC stole from Hillary what was rightfully her’s and gave it to an empty suit.

We all know that it is because of Hillary’s courageous run for the nomination and willingness to take the hits by her own party and the misognynist attacks by the MSM that made it possible for Sarah Palin to shine! Even Governor Palin acknowledged that in her first speech!

The republicans have stolen from the democrats what should have been our’s — a strong, intelligent, effective woman in the White House. I will never forgive them for that.

Sarah Palin will be a great president someday and she will obtain great experience for that job as Vice President.

However, come 2012, we will be there for Hillary and make her our President, as it should have been in 2008. Hillary will be a great president and will be the epitom of what a woman can do when given the chance. She will, again, pave the way for Sarah Palin and other women to become president!

Thank you, Hillary, for making it possible for McCain to choose Palin and stopping the DNC insane coup!

When the Republicans gained control of all three branches of government in 2000, they began working to take apart the New Deal.

Eight years later, we are teetering on the brink of another Great Depression. Only a Republican could think this is a coincidence.

That’s why I’m mad at the Democrats for nominating a crooked pol. We need a good Democrat in the White House–not a shnook like Obama.

Maybe Hillary SHOULD take over Harry’s position because as Palin said, Harry can’t stand McCain and Hillary gets along with him quite well. Who then would be the better person to deal directly with a President John McCain?

Barack’s huge mistake in not picking Hillary as VP (even though I didn’t want him to) will haunt the Senate chamber for a long time to come.

Obama can spend the rest of his time huddled with John Kerry in the “has-been” gallery.

    Everyone:

The above comments pitting Palin against Hillary and foreseeing Hillary’s demise are the new OBOT tactics to divide and conquer. If they can put fear into Hillary supporters that by voting for Palin they are negating Hillary’s chances in 2012, they think Hillvoters will succumb and vote for Obama.

Problem is that getting Obama in means ZERO chances for Hillary in 2012. There will be a repeat of 2008. Getting Palin in means that Hillary will be able to run as the Dem’s will have to choose a woman to run against a woman, and who better than Hillary, a proven vote getter. Hillary will have had 4 years to continue to prove herself and get ready.

Don’t let the Obots divide us. Their MO is sickening.

Last night, I had my moment of nostalgia, as I saw the actual voting for nomination state by state; Roll Call something that should have happened with the DNC, if it did, I never saw it.It is a visual, regardless of whether it is symbolic or not, it represents the will of the people on public display; all the dems cared about was the will of the party. Still makes me sad.

I have come to the conclusion that the MSM already knew what they were getting into when Sarah was announced as the VP. That’s why they’ve scrambled around and tried so hard to divert and distract. Bring her down. They knew she’d connect and with more than just her base.

Wow, there are so many comments on this post that I apologize in advance if someone posted this before but
Biden continues with his gaffes (and macho attitude):

Some of Biden comments on the GOP Convention:

He also took note of Senator Joseph I. Lieberman’s appearance at the Republican conclave Tuesday night.

“Joe Lieberman, he’s my friend but the next time I see him I’m going to ask him to go down to the gym with me,” Mr. Biden said. He also made one of his regular verbal slips, referring to the “Biden administration,” before quickly correcting himself to say the “Obama-Biden administration.”

“Believe me, that wasn’t a Freudian slip,” he said, laughing and crossing himself. “Oh lordy day, I tell ya.”

    D.C. CONFIDENTIAL

JOE BIDEN’S FAILED ATTEMPT TO DISLODGE BRATTY SON FROM LOBBYING BIZ

    K STREET HOLE Joe, Hunter
Vice presidential nominee Joe Biden and his lobbyist son got nailed yesterday for being rich and insider-y and basically exactly like every other well-connected political clan you’ve ever heard about. “Biden’s Son a Well-Paid D.C. Insider” advises the headline of a story detailing how Hunter Biden has personally billed clients $3.8 million for his lobbying services, and how the firm he co-founded with one of his dad’s buddies excels in a particularly scummy niche of the lobbying trade that involves coercing a small group of congressmen and staffers to slip earmarks into monstrous spending bills.
That article makes no mention of the jobs and large consulting fees Hunter earned from his dad’s biggest contributor (but this one does!) or Sen. Biden’s staggeringly unsuccessful effort to avoid exactly these kinds of stories by getting his son out of the lobbying business altogether. Many of the alleged details on that can be found in a lawsuit filed last year against Hunter and his uncle James Biden, Joe’s brother.
According to a claim filed by pissed-off business guy Anthony Lotito, “In early January 2006, James Biden called Lotito to inform him that his brother, Senator Joseph P. Biden, was concerned with the impact that Hunter’s lobbying would have on his expected campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.” James allegedly said that “his brother had asked him to seek Lotito’s assistance in finding employment for Hunter in a non-lobbying capacity.”
This supposed ploy worked out just fine at first, assuming that hedge fund work was somehow less of a political liability than lobbying. Lotito partnered with the two Bidens and bought controlling interest of a hedge fund called Paradigm Global Advisors; despite having no hedge fund experience, Hunter was made CEO and given an annual salary of $1.2 million as a way of “fulfilling Senator Biden’s wish that Hunter secure employment in a non-lobbying capacity.” But soon the bottom fell out. Lotito’s lawsuit claims that the Biden boys began “repeatedly citing their political connections and family status” to avoid paying him, and threatened “to use their alleged connections with a former United States senator to retaliate against [Lotito's lawyers] for insisting that his bill be paid.”
The Bidens deny all of this and say Lotito was the bad actor in the deal, but whatever happened, it’s clear that the hedge fund foray was not a success. Hunter quickly returned to lobbying and ostensibly tried to establish some degree of political cover for his dad’s presidential run by playing up his selfless work on the Amtrak Reform Board, a do-nothing patronage gig given to him, of course, by his dad.
Still, the drama continues; the Biden boys were recently slapped with another lawsuit by a different investor who claims they “engaged in an elaborate scheme to defraud” him. It’s unclear how exactly all of this might figure into Barack Obama’s crusade against business-as-usual in Washington, but here’s hoping that some wise journalist covering this week’s Democratic convention will take a look at the impact of Washington establishment brats on Obama’s message of change. We’re looking at you Luke Russert!

lol Last night Rudy laid into Obama on his 300 advisors, said something like he goes to talk to his 300 advisors and Obama changes his position suggesting the UN could find the solution. (concerning Georgia)He said apparently none of those 300 advisor told him that Russia has veto power on any UN sanction!(not verbatim)

I read several posts from Germany, UK, and Ireland blogs on Obama’s speech in Germany. Asking is he was ignorant or just plain stupid and what exactly do those 300 advisors advise on?(on Northern Ireland. His wall between the Catholic and Protestant example. One heck of a gaffe on foreign land. One that most American’s know about that aren’t even running for office.)If he doesn’t even understand that there are still problems in Ireland, one of our allies, what could he possibly know about our enemies?

None, NADA, very telling. No threat of a law suit, no denial of allegations. Same MO with Larry Sinclair allegations. Democrat Keynoter Favors Higher Taxes, Abortion, Lenient Treatment of Criminals
Barack Obama cemented his position as a rising Democrat star with his keynote convention address july 27. he delivered his well-crafted speech with a perfect mixture of frankness and passion, deftly stirring the crowd from rapt silence to raucus enthusiasm-a home run.
There was only one problem: change a few sentences here and there, and the young black Senate candidate from Illinois could have given the same speech at the Republican National Convention.
In his speech, Obama said things like “government alone can’t teach kids to learn,” and noted that inner-city parents know they must “turn off the television sets and eradicate the slander that says a black youth with a book is acting white.”
He all but preemptively refuted the class warfare-promoting “Two Americas” stump speech that vice presidential candidate John Edwards would give the following night when he said of his family’s humble origins: “I stand here knowing that… in no other country on earth is my story even possible.”
    Porn Near Schools
Obama even cited the Declaration of Independence and its reference to the unalienable right to life in a convention hall packed with avid proponents of abortion on demand.
None of this dimmed the excitement of the mostly left-wing delegates, who knew they were not supposed to believe what they were hearing. Obama may talk like Bill Cosby or even J.C. Watts at times, but when he reaches the Senate next year-a near certainty after the failure of the hapless Illinois GOP to find a credible opponent-he will probably vote like Cynthia McKinney, albeit without sharing her shrill style.
As a state senator, Obama has been no defender of the unalienable right to life. he twice voted against bills prohibiting tax funding of abortions. In April 2002, he voted against a bill to protect babies born alive after a failed abortion procedure. A similar federal law passed later that year.
In 1997, Obama twice voted “present” on an Illinois partial-birth abortion ban. he absented himself from a third vote on the measure. In 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to notify parents when their minor children seek an abortion. he also voted against a cloning ban in 2000, although he voted for it in 2001.
In 1999, Obama voted against requiring school boards to put Internet pornography filters on school computers meant for students’ use. In 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 10 ,0 000 feet of schools and churches. In 2003, he voted in the Health and Human Services Committee for a bill requiring “age appropriate” sex-education for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Despite his talk of promoting reading among inner-city youth, Obama has repeatedly opposed bills designed to promote discipline in public schools. In 2001, he twice voted “no” on a bill to let school districts require unruly students to complete suspensions before they can be shuffled into a new school district. he voted “present” on an almost unanimously passed bill requiring adult prosecution for students who fire guns on school grounds.
Obama has been markedly soft on crime. In 2001, he voted against a bill that added extra penalties for crimes committed in furtherance of gang activities. he also voted against a bill making it a criminal offense for accused gang members, free on bond or on probation, to associate with known gang members. In 1999, he was the only state senator to vote against a bill prohibiting early prison release for criminal sexual abusers.
Obama has a long record of supporting tax increases as well, although he rarely had the opportunity before Democrats took over the Illinois Senate in 2002. Despite Democratic rhetoric on the high cost of health care, Obama voted last May to hike the tax on insurance premiums. Although this tax is levied on corporations, it effectively raises rates for consumers. The same day, Obama voted to preserve Illinois’ death tax, increase taxes on casino visitors, and charge new sales taxes on businesses.
Given his record, it is not surprising that Obama has the support of leading left-wingers. Political action committees (PACs) that have contributed to his U.S. Senate campaign include: Progressive Choices ($5,000), Planned Parenthood ($5,000), the National Education Association ($5,000) and People for the American Way ($1,000), the leading group helping Democrats to block President Bush’s judicial appointees. Sen. Hillary Clinton’s (D.-N.Y.) leadership PAC gave him the maximum contribution ($10,000), as did the American Federation of Teachers and the National Abortion Rights Action League.
Also; Bush-hating billionaire George Soros threw a fundraiser for Obama’s campaign in New York on june 7.

Sarah Palin rocked the Republican House last night! Who knew Repubs had it in them? Even Giulani and Huckabee were zinging Obama while pointing out the OBVIOUS – that Obama is not ready or qualified to lead this country! For everyone complaining that McCain might drop dead tomorrow, his 96 year old mother was in the audience and she looks like she’s in her 70′s! Obama has no family except a grandma he keeps locked up in an apartment in Hawaii! And no offense to Joe Biden, but he’s had TWO brain aneurisms, he’s the one who really could have major health problems while trying to hold an important office. As for the foreign policy meme Obama is pushing on Sarah now – if she does a whirlwind tour of Europe and speaks to adoring crowds, does that qualify her in foreign policy? Just asking because that’s all the foreign policy experience Obama has. Sarah Palin is a real woman! A real GOVERNOR, a real WIFE, a real MOTHER, and she has a REAL FAMILY and life story, not some imaginary made up story put into two books in the 1990′s.

Oh but they did, Brian Williams did.

    Here’s what was said:

ANN CURRY: What was the most important message, do you think, that Governor Palin gave tonight?

DELEGATE: That she’s American woman. And that she’s here for all of America.

CURRY: When you say “American woman,” you mean with all of the things she talked about, the issues in her family, raising a child with special needs, what are you specifically talking about, that she’s “American woman”?

DELEGATE: She’s done it all. She represents all of America.

CURRY: So you say you identify with her?

DELEGATE: Correct. I think she’s had all the experiences that we’ve had. And she knows what it’s like to live in America. She’s lived the dream in every aspect.

and here is what Brian Williams got out of that:

Two points I’d like to make, Keith. Number one, Ann Curry’s interview on the floor with the women delegates tonight. One of them said of Governor Palin “she has lived the dream, the American dream, in every aspect.” That was what was attractive about her story to this delegate. Guess who else you can say that about? And yet we’re looking at parallel universes here: an “us versus them.” She’s one of us, he’s one of them kind of argument.

What do you think he was suggesting?

    Paul:
Great video! I’ve always voted for only Democratic Party candidates, and I used to get into some pretty heated arguments with my Dad over politics. I had come to the conclusion that Republicans were inherently EVIL and despicable human beings with no hearts or moral compasses. I had noticed that my Dad was coming around to my way of thinking these last two years as he has come to realize what a total clusterf**k George W. Bush has been, but now he has the last laugh, as the both of us will be voting for the Republicans at the top of the ticket this year. Sarah Palin and her family spoke volumes to American families last night, and I just hope that she can handle a speech and answer direct questions without a teleprompter, as she will need that skill in the coming weeks. As I watched the Republican Convention coverage last night, I found myself repeating, “Damn, they could actually win this thing. Everyone thought that the Republican Party was toast this year, but they could actually pull this off in the face of polls showing that 80% plus think that the country is headed in the wrong direction. McCain needs to clearly demonstrate that he too is an agent of change; that his change is the type that will move this country forward; and that he has a credible and viable political strategy for actually effecting that change.

But Hillary running against Loser Obama in 2012 is much more likely than Hillary running against incumbant Obama.

If your sole reason for voting is to make sure hillary has a shot in 2012, then you most vote against obama.

Any Obot troll who tries to convince you that unless Obama wins hillary has no shot is LIEING TO YOU!!

If Obama wins the Clintons will be cast out for good.

    More on Biden’s reaction:

    Biden on Palin: “Whoa”

    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/04/biden-on-palin-whoa/

And he expressed some professional admiration for some of her “zingers” directed mostly at Mr. Obama.

“I thought ‘Whoa,’ ” Mr. Biden said. “They’re good, funny lines, but I’m glad they’re not about me.”

On another television program, NBC’s “Today,” Mr. Biden said Mrs. Palin had given “one heck of a political speech” and she would be a “formidable opponent” and a “very skilled debater.”

There is more on the linked note.

Heads are spinning this morning!!!! lmao We may need to call in an exorcist before it’s all done to relieve these Obamabots of the haunting that Governor Sarah Palin gave them last night! lol

Last week, at the DNC, they did everything they COULD to rip John McCain apart and now they are so shocked that the same was done to Obama. lol The sad thing is, the claims last week were pretty week, same old “third term of Bush” crap. But, Obama’s flaws are at his core and the RNC speakers have been having a field day pointing them all out. Obama had no business even running.

Oh, let’s always start referring to her as GOVERNOR Sarah Palin so as to remind the bots what THEY are up against. lmao It was a good night indeed.

  • DancingOpossum

Much of what she said I disagreed with. Much of it was recycled Republican hash we’ve been hearing from Dubya the last few years. (Hint: There is no “vicotry” in Iraq, a country we invaded illegally, and yes, prisoners in Guantanamo are entitled to habeas corpus).

THAT SAID, she delivered a terrific speech that electrified the crowd.

One thing I’ve noticed: The more she’s been attacked, the more Republicans are closing ranks to defend her. How different from our own craven Dems, who not only didn’t stop the filth being flung at Hillary, they actively encouraged it, laughed at it, and wallowed in it. Between Carly Fiorina, Cindy, his respect for HRC, and the Palin pick, McCain has shown that he is not afraid of strong women.

This morning on Morning Joe the Obama spokesman looked downright terrified. The McCain guy was giddy, ecstatic. They KNOW.

Still a Democrat. Still not voting Obama.

  • Boxer Mum 06

Well, maybe shrill is a coded word for sexism!

  • http://www.TheOtherDemocrats.com FloridaEx-Dem

Ah, well, Obama and his Obots can dish it out but they can’t take it.

I too have been a lifelong Dem. I don’t agree with everything Sarah Palin believes in, but I feel she’s far more qualified for VP than Obama is for President.

The Obots are running scared now and we’re going to see an escalation in their vitriolic remarks, their aggressive even threatening behavior, and they are going to be digging like mad to find a non-existent smoking gun on Palin.

sfhillary is one of the standard Obot crowd, who can do nothing except to call those who disagree with him/her things like ‘ignorant know-nothing assholes’ and ‘fucking Republican sheep’. We can all see that sfhillary is really just the left wing version of the Bushbots who attacked those who disagreed with them in 2004. Kinda sad, really. They’ve become the very thing they abhorred, all because even the hint of ‘power’ has corrupted them.

Yes, the Obots are particularly disturbing because they display a violent, threatening quality that would be even more alarming were they in the ‘majority’ and in a position of power.

Now we have a REAL presidential race, and it’s not one of just ‘promises’. We have candidates with actual EXPERIENCE and the guts to tout it. We have candidates who will provide actual DOCUMENTS when requested, such as birth certificates, voting registration documents, and other documents that Obama has refused to produce (like a birth certificate or proof he registered for the draft as required.)

Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age

    http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/obama_sutton_saudi/2008/09/03/127490.html

New evidence has emerged that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was closely associated as early as age 25 to a key adviser to a Saudi billionaire who had mentored the founding members of the Black Panthers.

In a videotaped interview this year on New York’s all news cable channel NY1, a prominent African-American businessman and political figure made the curious disclosures about Obama.

    by rogue robot

Of course we now know it is how Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin described herself in her disastrous acceptance speech. How could this pundit praised speech be possibly considered a disaster? Its very simple. Sarah Palin declared herself a name that no female politician ever wants to be labeled:

    She called herself a bitch.

    * * *

This was a terrible speech, grossly misjudged by the speech writers, missing the entire narrative that was built around this woman by the republican media handlers. What are the republican loyalists to think about this new, never (in 6 days) before seen Sarah Palin? Specifically, what is the demographic republicans require on election day, white males, think of this speech? As a white male myself, after hearing that speech, a few words come to mind:

    What a bitch.

What’s funny is neither side knows exactly how to handle us, or what to think of us. I’ve been nosy over at some of the more diehard Republican blogs. I’ve read comments like they can’t be Democrats! Look how they’re talking. The Democrats are trying to pretend like we don’t exist.

The way I see it, the fiascos from within both parties is…they’ve awaken the sleeping moderate from within the parties. We are the true majority of both parties. Exactly why McCain, each time they counted him out, pulled ahead. The true majority of Americans able to rise above a party affiliation for this country. It’s a refreshing change of pace.

We’ve found through Hillary, John, and now Sarah, that there is much more that brings us together, than they can find to separate us. We still have a long way to go with both parties, but we’ll get there. They better get used to us, because we’re going nowhere.

United we stand, divided we fall. America and her democracy is worth fighting for in all parties. We lost that somehow, but we’re getting it back. Never again will we be silenced/silent. As my husband says you can only poke a sleeping dog for so long before they’re going to turn around and bite you…

    MISOGYNY
women know it -women see it

Then why can’t you see through McCain’s transparant attempt to woo women who vote with their vaginas rather than their brains.

Palin is anti-choice. She has stated quite plainly that she would want her daughter to carry the child of her rapist.
Palin opposes comprehensive sex ed, which, as we all know, hurts young teenage girls far more than it hurts the boys.

And then we have McCain himself, who opposed equal pay for equal work, is ALSO anti-choice, and who wants to make it harder for women to pay for birth control using insurance.

On the flip side, there’s a democratic ticket that is pro-choice, champions equal pay for equal work, and is against abstinence only sex ed in schools.

Now please, fix your puckered mouth to tell me who is mysogynistic.

Most of you don’t even know why you’re even voting for John McCain or the platform that he’s running on. That’s not surprising because half of the audience at the convention last night looked as if they needed oxygen just to stand and applaud; and the other half were just ecstatic for the opportunity to leave their igloos and mobile parks for four days. Or for the firts time.

Americans are ready for a change in this country. If you think that Americans are gullible enough to vote Republicans for another four years just because there is a war veteran and a soon to be grandma/mommy of five (or six) on the ticket…you’re going to be extremely disappointed.

“The republicans have stolen from the democrats what should have been our’s — a strong, intelligent, effective woman in the White House.”

The Republicans did not steal anything, the Democrats screwed themselves.

McCain has taken a lot of heat for picking Palin even from his own party. Palin will have a rough 2 months ahead of her having to deal with a media that wants to destroy her, sexism, and the Obama attack machine. Meanwhile Obama gets burped by the media that refused to ever vet him.

  • heather

Oh please, let us not become what we hate most (daily kos): calling people names when they disagree with us, and especially using “republican” as an insult. They ARE the party that freed the slaves you know. And while they’ve been pretty awful the last 50 years, they have one or two merits that occasionally raise them above the level of a sewer rat. For example, Nelson Rockefeller was very moderate, and Eisenhour warned of the ‘military industrial complex’.

And if anyone here truly wants “change” then we might need to be prepared for changes we didn’t quite anticipate. So let’s try to keep open minds and not indulge in name calling.

I’ve seen Obama do live interviews with right wing pundits. The man is unflappable. Sure he stutters, but he always presents his points without getting angry or terse (unlike John McCain), I’ve never seen him refuse to answer a question just because he doesn’t like it (unlike John McCain), and he always remains cordial, even when the interviewer has raked him over the coals (unlike John McCain).

The only time I’ve ever seen Obama become agitated during an interview is when someone asks him a question that is based on an out and out lie.

  • kgirl1028

If you are interested in seeing how Republican female officials chopping down trees not only for Sarah but for Hillary as well flick over to texasdarling. it is beautiful and a little sad at the same time. how is it that a party with so much diversity has less honor and morals than “the white party”? the dnc should be ashamed of it self and they deserve to loose come november and loose big. Ugh. That woman is no Hillary. She’s not even close.

I for one am excited at the prospect of Hillary finding a place next year either in Obamas cabinet or as a Supreme Court appointee.

And anyone who doesn’t think that Hillary wouldn’t insert herself into a Democratic White House is nothing but bitter and short-sighted.

What do you think the chances of either of those scenarios occuring if McCain and Palin have control over the White House?

  • Diana

I agree with Thinker, I was voting for Hillary first. We can’t allow our anger at what the Democratic party did to blind us. There are still a lot of good Democrats. The problem is they’re voices are being silenced. Shouted over.

I also don’t think saying that some of us are/were Republican all along is going to help either.(Especially since I changed my voter registration card ;) ) Seattle, Harp both have been posting here since the primaries and supporting Hillary.

I just think there is a lot of anger. What I don’t understand is why we’re playing in a hypothesis now? We know Hillary is not the nominee. Even if Obama is now forced to step down, it is Biden that steps up. Not Hillary.
We know that’s not the way it works. Which is exactly why Obama didn’t pick her.

This is like when Hillary told us from the beginning she was not being vetted. She was not even being considered some refused to hear her and kept hoping she would be the VP. Anyone fantisizing that Obama will be forced to step down and the DNC will run to Hillary should get that out of their heads now. It will be Biden to step up and he will not chose Hillary for his VP. The DNC is going to try unseat Hillary. To get the Clintons out of Washington for good. Watch and see. It’s up to us to ensure they don’t suceed. We won’t do it like this…

Le me tell you about that Republican community. Lincoln was the first Republican President. He wa part of the radical Republicans that wanted an end to slavery. They are responsible for the civil rights amendments that were added to the US Constitution. When it came time to vote on the civil rights legislation of the 1960s, over 80% of Republicans in the House and Senate voted for the legislation. Not a single southern Democrat voted for it. Republicans pushed the women’s sufferage movement and enabled women to vote. People talk about the Jim Crow days of the South. Jim Crow was a Democrat. The reason that you do not like the speach is that Obamma could never give a speach of that calliber. It was Presidential. Every jab she took at her opponents was truth. Bravo Paul, as John McCain would say, “THUMBS UP”

John McCain / Sarah Palin is the change this country needs.

There is NOT one doubt that John McCain and Sarah Palin are TRUE Americans.

There is NOT one doubt that they can be trusted to serve our country, to protect our country.

There is NOT one doubt that they DO NOT have terrorist, anti- American associates in every closet.

There is NOT one doubt that they LOVE America and everything it stands for.

There is NOT one doubt that this Pa. Democrat WILL be voting for John McCain / Sarah Palin

  • Robert

Name one piece of major legislation that Obamma has written, ever. Everyone knows that Chicago politics is corrupt, so name one time that he ever took on the corruption in Chicago. How is Obamma going to make us more energy independent? These are all things that an Obamma supporter should be able to answer.

  • heather

Interesting. I wonder though why you credit spirit guides when in fact you’ve simply got great political insight?

  • Crystal M

I see. But you ARE willing to vote for two candidates who want to whittle away your reproductive rights and those of your daughter’s.

I don’t share your opinion that Obama is underqaulified. And with McCain being a 72 year old 4 time cancer survivor, there’s a very real possibility that Palin could be president before McCain’s first term is up.

No amount of Republican rhetoric is going to convince me that Sarah Palin’s experience as a hockey mom and mayor of a town with which had a smaller population than Obama’s Illinois congressional district (and certainly less diversity), somehow makes her more qualified than a Harvard educated man who was a law professor, community activist, state senator and US senator.
Especially not when Palin’s “executive experience” includes leaving her town $20 million dollars in debt after inheriting a balanced budget.

  • heather

Actually she listed all the taxes Obama is planning to raise, and it was an impressive list if she is correct. Payroll tax particularly troubles me.

She also got pretty specific about energy policy.

By all accounts prior to the speech, this was Sarah Palin’s introduction to the country (“Who is she?”). Now Obama supporters are moving the goal posts to try to find grounds on which to criticize her. It looks disingenuous.

  • jangles

Besides the big story from last night that Palin is a real political opponent who is intelligent, capable and can perform for a national audience, there is the story of Republican party unity and energy. That is what should frighten the Dems the most. They have gone through their paces but they have absolutely not unified the party and it is clear they can not get that job done nor can HRC do it for them. The Republicans who have been hanging their heads in well deserved shame and defeat now see a ticket that is about reform, including reform of their own party, change from the excesses of Bush, Delay et al, and they see a presidential ticket that personifies courage, patriotism, experience, change, family values and main street. They were genuinely and completely energized last night; unified in the real sense of that word. History is on their side; if the party in presidential power, historically, nominates and unifies behind a succeeding candidate they will win and keep power even if the exiting president is unpopular. If the party out of presidential power does not unify behind their candidate, they do not unseat the party in power. It is the historical law of presidential politics.

I think this argument about Palin replacing HRC in our affections and esteem is really bogus. Palin just makes it easier in some ways to vote for McCain and to send the message to the Dems that they disrespect their female voters at great risk. She in no way replaces HRC or can.

Just watching Sarah’s family, I would say that she and her husband are terrific parents and role models, not just for her family but for family’s all across the globe.

Hillary has done so much for this nation. I lived over seas when she was humiliated by Bill’s lack of selfcontrol. The only thing that was presidential during that period was Hillary Clinton. I was able to look to her to find a way to preserve dignity.

She is strong and she helped to futher the cause of women. SHe answered the call of the sufferagists 160 years past and took the dream and dignity of Elenor Roosevelt and pulled it to the modern age. Hillary set the stage for our daughters by staying in the race so we could see how undemocratic they have become.

Yesterday the DNC started the fear mongering, attempting to hold my ovaries hostage again. As I heard the ad from a PP nurse I got angry. How can the DNC ask us to believe they give a crap about us after what they did to Hillary she won the most votes fro Christ’s Sake.

All they want to do is use our bodies to get them elected and use our bodies for their amusment without having to deal with offspring.

    Nope No More.

Let us give Hillary credit and use the momentum she gave women to elect the first Woman VP and throw open that door forever. Let us not let her amazing race fail, if we do it will be another 20 years before a Party Machine is willing to run a woman again. (Remember Geraldine Ferraro).

What are your sources that Obama’s Harvard degree were purchased, or that he was there to meet a quota? And no, opinion blogs do not count as a “source”. Has any main-stream media outlet (hell, I’ll even take Fox News) confirmed any of that bilge you are spewing?
I already know the answer, but let me play fool’s devil’s advocate.

It is a FACT that Sarah Palin left the Wasilla budget with a $20 million dollar deficit, when it was in fact balanced prior to her taking office.

It is a FACT that so-called “executive experience” includes governing a town smaller than Barack Obama’s Illionis district.

It is a FACT that she has been governor of Alask for less time than Barack Obama has been running for president.

It is also a FACT that Sarah Palin supported that bridge to nowhwere before she was against it (talk about flip-flopping!).

I deal in FACTS, my friend. Provable, quantifiable FACTS. Not wild conspiracy theories.

FYI, I’m one of the women who fought for women’s rights. Everything my generation fought for was casually tossed aside in the name of “change”.

Ugh. This by far is one of the most disgusting comments I’ve ever read on this site because it exemplifies my suspicion that some of you would rather see a woman–any woman–in the White House than a true feminist.
    GET OVER IT! HILLARY LOST!
You aren’t going to help yourself or any other woman by electing two conservative ideologues into office.
I for one, am more concerned about my reproductive rights and my right to equal pay, two things that John McCain does NOT stand for. His record speaks loudly and clearly to that.

Are you wishing death on Senator McCain? As for Vice President Palin stepping in as President, I don’t see any problem with that.

There’s a HUGE difference between likening your opponent to an assassinated politician and talking about the very real possibility that a FOUR time cancer survivor, 3 years shy of the average male life-expectancy, might not survive his first time.

I’m not wishing McCain to do anything but lose this election.

As for Vice President Palin stepping in as President, I don’t see any problem with that.

Really? A woman who is under an ethics investigation in her home state for abuse of power is A-Ok with you? A woman who tried to use her power to ban books is someone you don’t have a problem with? A woman who forced her cabinet to swear an oath of loyalty to her and then fired the ones who didn’t fall in line is material for our next president?
And people like you keep throwing the word Facist at Obama?? Ugh.

BTW, from what I hear, Sarah Palin got more votes when she ran for mayor of that “small town” than Joe Biden got from all America in his Presidential bid!

Oh please. The man is a 5-time incumbent to the US Senate and has been a senator for 36 years. If you want to go that route, fine. Joe Biden has won more elections than Palin has, which also means he’s had more votes cast for him than Palin has. Thanks, try again.

you seem to think voting on melanin levels is just fine

I’m going to pretend that this isn’t a blantantly racist and ignorant comment and tell you how specious the “Barack Obama’s success is due to his blackness” argument truly is:
If success in a presidential race came down to blackness, we would have had a black president a LONG time ago.
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Alan Keys (a Republican), Shirley Chisholm–all black, all ran for president, NONE of them got their party’s nomination.

Now, I’m going to acknowledge that your comment IS blantantly racist and ignorant. I wonder how many times YOU have complained about the fact that all our presidents have been white, despite the fact that blacks have been in this country LONG before its inception. In fact, only one of us has had the opportunity to vote for president “on melanin levels”, and it’s you, dear heart.

The legislation became law last year.

This might provide a clue how it is that people can reject Barack Obama out of hand in favor of a candidate who’s offering them a continuation of the policies of George W. Bush, or how they can look at a side-by-side comparison of the McCain and Obama tax proposals and still believe McCain is going to lower their taxes while Obama is going to raise them.
