Pitting Citizen Against Citizen

That would be President Obama in his recent press conference. Now I understand why this “eloquent” “brilliant” “orator” does not do more of these things. Wow. We thought Bush was bad. But eve Bush never pitted one American citizen against another like this:

Obama said claimed that the US has a history as “a nation of law and as a nation of immigrants.” Yes, but that does not mean we should be a nation of ILLEGAL immigrants, and I am pretty sure our nation’s laws deals with that very issue of people coming here illegally.

“I’m President of the United States (stop reminding us). I don”t endorse boycotts or not endorse boycotts…” I’m sorry, WHAT did you say?? You cannot flat out, categorically condemn the boycotting of an entire STATE by municipalities in other states for implementing a law that MIRRORS federal law, and is taking action where you are NOT? So much for that “nation of law” bullshit.

How about this, Mr. President, you are SUPPOSED to be the president of all 50 states and all LEGAL citizens, whether they voted for you or not. Perhaps you could try something more like: “I cannot condone the boycott of one state by another, or by cities in another state over people crossing our borders illegally. We have a serious issue with illegal immigration in this country. It is an issue that has been long in developing, and short on solutions by the Federal government in the past. I am going to work hard to change that now, to protect our borders, to give our border states all the help they need to protect their borders, and their border towns. Not just for those states, but for all states in our Great Union who are feeling the financial strain of illegal immigration through elevated costs for housing, medical care, and education.

Moreover, in these difficult economic times, we do not need to have cities and states threaten other states with economic hardship. We must pull together now, not fracture and splinter apart. We are not just Californians, or Arizonians. We are AMERICANS, and we must work together.”

Just a thought, Mr. President. Feel free to use any and all of that – no charge.

My other favorite quote was Obama saying they were reviewing the AZ law because we can’t have “a patchwork of immigration laws.” Well, holy crappydoo, if the current laws were ENFORCED, states would not be forced into this situation now, for crying out loud. Again, ironically, CA has a FAR stricter law on the books than AZ, which the elected officials there clearly, willfully, ignore on a regular basis.

Guess who has joined Arizona in crafting a stronger law? Massachusetts has with a new proposed amendment, as this article highlights, Mass. Senate Passes Crackdown On Illegal Immigrants:

With one lawmaker citing President Lincoln’s respect for the rule of law, the Massachusetts Senate passed a far-reaching crackdown this afternoon on illegal immigrants and those who would hire them, going further, senators said, than any immigration bill proposed over the past five years.

In a surprising turn of events, the legislation replaced a narrower bill that was passed Wednesday over the objections of Republicans.

The measure, which passed on a 28-10 vote as an amendment to the budget, would bar the state from doing business with any company found to break federal laws barring illegal immigrant hiring. It would also toughen penalties for creating or using fake identification documents, and explicitly deny in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.

The amendment would also require the state’s public health insurance program to verify residency through the Department of Homeland Security, and would require the state to give legal residents priority for subsidized housing.

Ohmygosh, say WHAAAA?? People are going to have to PROVE they are here legally?? Show ID?? It’s an outrage, I tell you!!!! Are Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, San Francisco, and school administrators in IL going to boycott MA now?? Ahem. Here’s more:

The amendment will now be part of negotiations with the House as part of the entire state budget.

Supporters, especially Republicans, struck patriotic notes and spoke of the sanctity of the law as they spoke on the Senate floor.

“It was President Lincoln — and I’m going to paraphrase here — who suggested that respect for the law should be preached from every pulpit taught by every mother to every child,” said Senator Bruce Tarr, a Gloucester Republican.

But one supporter said that the measure was being passed for practical purposes and would hurt people.

Senator Frederick E. Berry, a Peabody Democrat, complained that one of the Republican sponsors acted like the “Patriots had just won the Super Bowl. … I am going to vote for it, but I don’t think we ought to rejoice.”

Democrats had resisted such a sweeping proposal, but spent last evening negotiating today’s measure, shortly after a new polled showed 84 percent of the liberal-leaning state’s voters supported tough immigration rules barring state services to illegal immigrants.

Sonia Chang-Diaz, a Boston Democrat who opposed the amendment, said the measure had not been properly vetted and would add undue obligations to businesses and state government when they could ill afford it. She said it would cost the state money, while programs for children and public safety are being cut and people in her city are being shot at.

“I just don’t think this is an appropriate time to be enforcing an additional cost burden on the state, doing things that are not our job,” Chang-Diaz said.

Huh? I lived and worked in MA. I can tell you for a FACT that I was asked to produce my original Social Security card and other documentation which was photocopied and put into my file. This was at a non-profit organization. Why did they do that? Because it was the LAW. No one complained that it was an undue burden, certainly not me, and I am sure the pennies it cost to make that copy didn’t break the organization, which also received state funds. It was done to comply with state law. So what is this excuse about how it will “hurt” companies doing business with the state? If they aren’t complying with the law, they shouldn’t be allowed to do business with the state. It’s as simple as that. Again, in these economic times, I bet there are any NUMBER of companies who engage in legal hiring practices that willb e willing to work for the commonwealth.

And the amendment would do even more:

The measure would also close what supporters say is a loophole that allows businesses to register cars under a company name, without identifying the owner by Social Security number and federal tax identification number. It would also crate (sic) a toll-free hot line for anonymous reporting of companies that employ illegal immigrants.

The measure comes weeks after immigration measures failed in the House, and amid heightened debate over illegal immigration fueled by the state’s election season and Arizona’s passage in April of the toughest immigration law in the nation.

Recent polls have found that, while voters supported blocking illegal immigrants’ access to public benefits, they were split over whether the Bay State should have a law such as Arizona’s.

Thursday’s Senate amendment would also authorize the state attorney general’s office to broker an agreement with federal authorities to help enforce immigration law. That would be a stark departure for Attorney General Martha Coakley, who has increased outreach to immigrants, encouraging them to file employment complaints, regardless of their legal status. Scores of immigrants whose bosses allegedly failed to pay their wages have turned to her for help in recent years.

The legislation also would increase penalties for driving without a license, one of the main problems facing illegal immigrants in Massachusetts. In November, a panel commissioned by Governor Deval Patrick urged him to push to grant driver’s licenses and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, among many other recommendations. Patrick sent the recommendations to his cabinet for study and pledged to return with a proposal in 90 days, but the results have not been made public.

Most immigrants in Massachusetts are here legally, but an estimated 190,000, or 20 percent, are here illegally, according to the census.

Gosh. How draconian they are in Massachusetts. I wonder when Obama is going to come out and challenge THIS new amendment, huh? Is he going to turn Eric Holder loose on Massachusetts? I doubt it.

So riddle me this, Bat-people: why did he do it to Arizona? Why did he and his Justice Department attack Arizona without even reading the damn law first?? He hasn’t attacked California’s. Or any other state – all states? – who have illegal immigration statues on the books currently. So why Arizona? Just for votes? Is that the only reason he is using our tax dollars to have the Justice Department work day and night looking to sue them? Just for votes? I’d sure like to know.

And since we are talking about illegal immigration, I will leave you with this video courtesy of my fellow NQ writer, Linda Anselmi. If you were wondering what has happened to Bertha Lewis since she helped lead ACORN down the tubes, wonder no more:

Maybe there is some justice in this world, even if her arrest wasn’t for all of the nefarious activities of ACORN…

oh god – I loathe that arrogant, narcissistic POS – Larry needs a countdown to 2012 – I can see November from my house and I can hardly wait

am not gonna hold my breath waiting for the corporate paid media to report on anything that might suggest that the American people are getting sick and tired of this shit – the talking heads still do not get it – they still seem to think – in their oh so lofty elitist manner – that they know everything and this too will pass -

oh really, well think again – the American people are awake and becoming more aware everyday of what the liberal progressive wing of the Dems & Repubs have done to this country and we are pissed………

I don’t care who it is – I’m not voting for any big spenders anymore – like that old song says – got along without you before, gonna get along without you now………………..

I want to return to some of better stuff that I remember – food that actually tasted good, cars that worked & that you didn’t have to have a rocket scientist to work on – no more shade tree mechanics, clothes that fit and last longer than 6 months, good movies, good music -

Shit, I’m just getting old and cranky and by god, I’ve earned it

Can hardly wait till November 2010 – it will be a damm good start to 2012………………………………….

By the way – Hillary and Bill – she looks like death warmed over and Bill is looking older everyday too – the chicago way thugs have something on them that is weighing heavily – don’t know what it is but this must be what happens when you sell your soul to the devil – ya think?

Wonderful angry article, Rev. Amy.  It made me grind my teeth.  The only government official who gets me angrier than Obama in their response to the AZ immigration law is Napolitano–the quintessential toady.

HERE IS A NEW, IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT IN ARIZONA:

    Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer abruptly
    suspends state’s attorney general
    from illegal immigrant law defense

A sudden new twist in the ongoing rhetorical and legal struggle over Arizona’s tough new law to round up illegal immigrants. Late Friday night as the Memorial Day weekend began, Arizona’s Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in effect, suspended the state’s Democratic attorney general from defending the new law in upcoming legal challenges. The measure, known as S.B. 1070, is due to take effect this summer and, among other things, allows local police under federal guidelines to check the immigration status of people they stop.

A lawyer is required to vigorously prosecute or defend a client’s position regardless their personal opinions. Likewise, a Judge is required to failrly hear a case and make rulings based on the law, regardless his personal opinion.

If a client, in the case Arizona, can not trust its attorney to defend and prosecute it’s position, then it’s time for a new AG.

Georgia is having similar issues with it’s democrat AG.

I agree!  Hillary looks like hell.  I just cannot for the life of me understand the Clintons since May of 2008.  They would have gained a lot more respect from people if they had told Barakula to stuff it and Hillary refused SOS and they refused to campaign for any dems after how they were treated.  Party over country only works if your party hasn’t been taken over by radicals and remains viable.  What were they thinking?  The only reason you would continue to support this whatever you call it party is if you fully support what they are doing.  If not then you should have run like hell, Bill and Hil!

  • jwrjr

Evidently in the People’s United States of Obama, immigration laws are suggestions, not actually to be obeyed (sort of like traffic laws).  Since illegal aliens (isn’t “illegal immigrant” an oxymoron?) generate more votes for Obama I suppose he would oppose any effort to keep them out.

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

  • Docelder

Yep, in a perfect free society politics would have nothing to do with law or the enforcement of it. There is a reason we have the separation of powers. This President no more understands that than he can plug an oil leak at 5000 feet. He is equally helpless at either of these tasks.

  • Yttik

I wonder if Obama watched Beck’s founding fathers last night?  I don’t even like Beck, but that man was on fire last night. In one episode he did what I spent decades hoping the left would do, he put black people (and women) back in the history books. He told their story, not as a story of oppression and fighting against your country, but as a story of patriotism and fighting for your country. Your country, not a separate entity of oppression, but a country you love so much you were willing to die for it.

Of course Obama pits one citizen against another, in his world view there is only dominance and submission, the oppressed and the oppressors. A woman and a couple of black guys crossing the Delaware with Washington, not as slaves and servants, but as fellow patriots doesn’t fit in with Obama’s narrative.

  • sowsear

If the “tarpit” doesn’t do it, how about the “Chicago Way” slide into jail.

  • Docelder

The whole concept of “social justice” which exists only in Utopian conjecture has him all wee-wee’ed up. He can’t get past it. Probably because he can’t get past his own skin color. Maybe he thinks everybody else has such a problem with it because at the root he has a problem with it himself. In that case, he doesn’t need any responsibility right now, he needs intervention. Great.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

susiepuma, that is an EXCELLENT idea abt the 2012 countdown.  Though, given that it looks like Obama broke the law, perhaps impeachment is not too far downn the road?  No one deserves it more, if you ask me.

That “whitey tape” has been played in public for the last year and a half. When the cops arrested a black professor, Obama “played the whitey tape” and said the cop acted stupidly. When AZ passed their immigration law, Obama played the “whitey” tape again to say it discriminated against brown people, without reading the freakin law.
There are many more instances where Obama has played the “whitey tape” over and over and over again. Get with the program and take off your darn blinders.

  • Kathleen Wynne

    yttik,

While I applaud Beck’s focus on the role blacks had in the founding of this country, what I don’t understand is how he totally ignores the role women played.

He’s great at pointing out racism and how blacks were written out of the history books but does not have the same sense of fairness for women.  It’s the one thing about Beck that really bothers me is his totally lack of interest of the role women have played throughout our history.

  • Kathleen Wynne

He needs to be impeached.  What will it take for Americans to see that he’s not only a fraud, but a fraud sent to destroy the country that the majority of Americans love enough to die for.

  • Yttik

I don’t understand Beck either, Kathleen. But even feminism that has become dominated by the left, doesn’t like to tell that history of women. They’ll tell oppression history, but when somebody like Palin mentions that “gun totin pioneer feminsm” people get downright nasty about it. The possibility that there may have been women who forgot they were supposed to be oppressed, and went out there in the wilderness to fight their way across the country, doesn’t fit with the narrative of women as victims of their own country.

This is not to say that racism and the oppression of women didn’t exist, doesn’t continue to exist, it’s just that what does that do to our perceptions of ourselves when the only stories being told are of how evil this country has been to us?

Just a re-re-minder Reverend Amy, there are many law abiding permanent residents of this great country who are not (yet) citizens.  There is a reason that the Bill of Rights uses the word person in lieu of citizen.  Many, many years ago persons came to this country without going through formal immigration procedures but that was before a process was in place.  Now that processes and laws are in place, there are only two alternatives, comply with the law or change it (not ignore it).  I speak for those who are here legally but not citizens.

  • kenoshamarge

We need to document this kind of behavior to show how truly pathetic Oblahblah and the far left Dems really are. They will applaud when the Head of State of a country bashes one of “our” states. They will stand and applaud the a foreigner bashes one of “our” states.

Especially this weekend, dedicated primarily to honoring those who have fought and died for this country we need to see these people for what they are. And it sure as hell ain’t Patriots!

I believe in Patriotism and not nationalism. I believe that my country like any other country has done things with which I do not agree. But when some damn President from a dysfunctional country dares to bash my country and the representatives of our country applaud I know who the enemy is.

A president that deliberately and maliciously divides the people of the country that he is supposed to lead is beneath contempt. As are those who cheer him and the likes of Calderon on.

Once again Oblahblah leaves out the operational word that describes what Arizona and all law abiding citizens think about illegal immigration. They leave out the word illegal deliberately, maliciously and repeatedly. What kind of representatives do the Democrats elect that they would condone the deliberate dividing and smearing of some states and some citizens in order to pander to a voting block?

Never mind, that would be the Obamacrats. I like to believe that “real” Democrats are as disgusted with them as I am.

Amy, you and the Right’s obsession with immigration politics continues to work its magic.  A helpful reminder:

    http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2010/05/26/2328967.aspx

68% of Latinos approve of Obama’s job (compared with 48% of overall respondents and 38% of whites), and they view the Democratic Party favorably by a 54%-21% score (versus 41%-40% among all adults and 34%-48% among whites). And their views of the Republican Party? In the poll, the GOP fav/unfav among Latinos is 22%-44%.

What’s more, Latinos think Democrats would do a better job than Republicans in protecting the interests of minorities (by 58%-11%), in representing the opportunity to move up the economic ladder (46%-20%), in dealing with immigration (37%-12%), and in promoting strong moral values (33%-23%).

The only advantage they gave Republicans was in enforcing security along the border (31%-20%). And Latinos remain a sleeping — yet growing — political giant: 23% of them aren’t registered voters (compared with 12% of whites and 16% of blacks).

R3A, having been given a ‘warning,’ I was able to watch a few seconds of the clip.  And, luckily, it only lasted a few seconds.  But know what really bothered me, besides the hypocrisy of singling out AZ state legislation as compared to CA or MA?  His use of the word, “entirely.”  See, BO was throwing out his straw dogs again.  That is, he said he understood that AZ is upset because the border is not “entirely” secure.  But as we all know, no border can remain “entirely” secure.  So, in effect, he was calling Arizonans petulant racists, who overreacted at the existence of even the few undocumented immigrants who make it across the border through this state.

As to why he singled out AZ, I am convinced, this is just to hurt JMc for comments made during the televised  ‘health summit,’ which evinced the response that brought more negative press to the sore-loser-in-Chief.

“Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) ticked off what he called “unsavory” deals in the Democratic health-care bills. Mr. Obama snapped: “We’re not campaigning anymore. The election’s over.” Mr. McCain, his 2008 presidential rival, laughed: “I’m reminded of that every day.”"

  • Onofre’s arm

Here’s a theory I’ve been putting together Doc. And when it is applied, it’s amazing how well all of the pieces fall together.

What if Obama doesn’t have something on the Clintons, but it’s the other way around? It occurred to me toward the end of the primaries that Hillary threw in the towel, and it gave the impression that Obama’s opposition research had discovered something about the Clintons that made them back off. However, what I think really happened, is that the Clintons discovered something about Obama that would have totally eliminated him (ineligibility perhaps) but he had already gotten so far toward the nomination, that revealing the information would not only have knocked him out of the race, but it would have also crippled the entire Democrat party, perhaps for many years. The Clintons are team players when it comes to the Party, and they had to place their own ambitions somewhat subordinate to Party interests in order to get a Democrat back in the White House. Knowing what they knew, the Clintons could then allow Obama to have the nomination, but they would also have leverage to cut favorable deals with him. They would keep what they knew under wraps if he would appoint Hillary to State, and then he would concoct a legitimate reason to back out of the 2012 race (he’s already been signaling that he would be satisfied with one term). Also, since they have the goods on him, they can pull his strings, and have a vicarious presence in the White House. They, and other string pullers like Soros, can use him as a temporary figure head to ram through the progressive legislation that they’ve always drooled over, like health care reform. Of course, this would require them to publicly prop him up, and the upper echelons in the Party would have to do the same, they all have to stand behind their ‘brand’, even though they are well aware of Obama’s massive flaws. A crippled or tarnished figure head will not be of any use to them.

Think about it, if it had become public, close to the Convention, that Obama was not who he claimed to be, and that he was ineligible to be POTUS, the entire Democrat party would have collapsed in scandal, and might not have recovered for a generation. For the big wigs in the Party, it didn’t really matter which Democrat became POTUS, because once they had their man in the office, along with a hugely Democrat Congress, they would have the control that they craved. Having a man in the office that they could manipulate with the threat of exposing him, was icing on the cake.

This could also explain the strange support and praise that the Clintons give to a man who savaged them in the primaries. They’ve got him by the balls, and he’ll do their bidding as effectively as though THEY were in the office themselves. This would also explain Clinton’s involvement in the Sestak debacle. If Clinton has remote control of the Presidency, then it would serve his own purposes to preserve Democrat control of Congress, and he could work behind the scenes to do this. Clinton would be feathering the nest for Hillary in 2012.

However, with this scenario, all of the top players in the Democrat party are taking a huge gamble. If it ever comes out that Obama was not eligible to be POTUS, then anyone who is aware of this would also be in deep shit. Much like an organized crime family, if an evil accord between the crooks becomes revealed, it will bring the entire family down.

…for enacting legislation intended to keep undocumented Latinos out of AZ, contrary to the nature of this ‘country of immigrants’….

  • Peggy Sue

As a Democrat myself, I’ve been disgusted by the Obamacrats from the start.  But I’m equally disgusted with the Republicans who act like hyenas at a kill site.  Arizona’s law is a reaction to both parties utter failure to address border security and escalating problems with the surge of undocumented workers coming into the country.  The Sestak affair is not equal to Watergate, regardless of how many times Issa et al and the spinning heads repeat it.  The BP fiasco is a product of allowing corporations regulate themselves, which means they don’t and both parties can clap themselves on the back for that stupidity. We have regulators and inspectors who have turned a blind eye both on the Republican and Democratic watch. We’ve witnessed the wreckage to our economy, seen our infrastructure crumble and are now watching with horror as the Gulf is turned into a toxic stew.  We’re also waging two hideously expensive wars though we hardly ever hear about it.  Wonder why?

Both Dems and Republicans can now congratulate themselves for bringing the country to its knees.

Am I disgusted?  I’d have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to be.

  • BuzzLatte

I love how Obama projects his own detriments on others.  ”We’re not campaigning anymore. The election’s over.”

Charles Krauthammer has all but offered Obama medical help for his, in Krauthammer’s words, “rampant narcissism (that) knows no bounds”.

Mental health issues are not to be ignored, especially in those that hold immense power.

The digging needs to continue and Obama’s history with ALL it’s warts needs to be brought to light.

I see it as another chapter in the maturing of America as a country. It’s America’s “We won’t be fooled again!”  moment that must take place.

as a big hillary supporter, im now beginning to have doubts about whether or not we were fooled (once again).  i let it pass when she accepted the job as SOS figuring she deserved at least that much.  i let it pass when she and bill campaigned for that fool obama.  i let it pass when she said she was a “modern progressive” . i let it pass when i learned she did her college thesis on saul alinsky.  i let it pass when she  began using the term global governance.  i let it pass when she  travelled the world spreading obamas agenda, figuring it was just her job.but yesterday was the last straw when she said that the wealthy were not paying their fair share. im beginning to think  that in the end it didnt really matter which of them won..as long as it was a progressive with the same agenda.(he is after all  following  most of hillarys campaign promises).to use their own words “the ends justify the means.”  i wonder , if hillary had won, would she have had the same agenda as obama. except of course in a much more subtle and smarter way. i honestly hope im wrong but i fear im not.

Hmm, not entirely secure.  And that’s supposed to be still be ok that only part of it’s not secure?  It’s the little part that’s not secure which is causing all the problems!

Great article RRR.  Obama is totally pitting Americans against Americans and he’s pitting Hispanics against Americans.  Ask yourself, now that La Raza and Obama have promised these rather backward, illiterate people that they could come to the U. S. and become the voting majority, what will happen when their objectives reach the stumbling block of the 73% American majority objectives to uphold the law and secure our border?  We were just in Phoenix/Scottsdale.  Scottsdale is beautiful.  The businesses advertise they are using E-Verify to hire legal people.  Phoenix is all Mexican and all the signage is in Spanish.  It’s gone downhill very much.

  • My other site

tango:  I got in an argument with our college sons about this subject.  I said, Georgia has the same laws, illegals are being deported and they’re fleeing Georgia.  There hasn’t been one word about it in the news, so what’s the big deal about AZ passing these laws?  One of them said right away, AZ is on the border.  So, I guess the deal is the Obama Dems are scared silly the illegals won’t be able to get in if AZ enforces the law.

  • My other site

Peggy Sue:  Agreed.  Who would listen to Darrell Issa.  He has been convicted of all kinds of political corruption scandals.  Until Americans hold politicians accountable regardless of party, we will not have good government.

The Rose Law Firm records have already been investigated.  Don’t conservatives pay attention to the news.  Every possible scandal concerning the Clintons was investigated to exhaustion.  Do you doubt it when you consider how badly the Republicans wanted to impeach him?  They finally had to revert to a personal transgression that should have warranted a Congressional censure.  The Clintons are working with this administration because they still want Hillary to run and they can’t risk alienating the whole party–you can’t get elected President without the backing of your party–but I am beginning to think it’s a mistake.  I cannot fathom that Bill Clinton is carrying water for Barack Obama.

jwrjr:  I still say, it’s treason.  The majority of the people of this country consented through their representatives to the current immigration laws.  No one ever voted to open the border and let illegals in.  The president takes an oath to uphold the laws of the United States and Obama is refusing to enforce our laws because ignoring the law benefits him politically.  It has to be unconstitutional.  FDR couldn’t pack the Court; Obama can’t pack the country.  I say he’s afraid of La RAZA.  They probably threatened to get rid of him or his family if he doesn’t get them amnesty.

    Original Article

    5/29/2010

One of the chief characteristics of Barack Obama’s speechifying is its contempt for words as anything other than props of self-puffery. Consider, for example, his recent remarks to the graduating class of the United States Military Academy:

“America has not succeeded by stepping out of the currents of cooperation — we have succeeded by steering those currents in the direction of liberty and justice.”

Probably because the GA law has had little effect except to decimate the real estate market for a few months because undocumented workers were so afraid they may have to leave the state they stopped buying houses and cars. For lack of state and police resources among other reasons, laws that sometimes seem like a big deal (about immigration or anything else) when they’re approved can end up with bites that aren’t proportionate to their barks. Many police officers in Arizona may decide that they don’t have a “reasonable suspicion” that residents are in the country illegally very often. :(

Could that be why they have federalized 13 million acres of land out west? The act is supposed to be used for making federal parks and safegaurd wildlife. But I could easily see Obama doing it to give a safe path for illegals to enter.

Kathleen, it will take a veto proof Republican majority to set the wheels in motion.  Enough pressure has to be put on Obama to get Holder fired and frankly, until Obama is called on Holder’s embarrassing mistakes, lack of judgement and incompetence, and himself embarrassed by it, he won’t fire him.

Now that the latest efforts to cap the spill have failed, I think we’ll hear more and more condemndations of Obama and his incompetence, inaction and arrogance.  He can no longer hide, and he’s making it harder and harder for even his most rabid fans to defend him.  All except Juan Williams, that is, who can always be counted on to come up with the most inane excuses for his failures.  And even he is getting hammered by his co panelists more strongly than usual.  I think they’ve also had it with apologists who ignore reality.

Unless stodghie, you believe as I do, that the Clintons place their personal concerns over their party, and their party over the country.

Face it, they only want Obama to succeed to a point, but they won’t let him become a superstar. They want him to get bruised and bloodied so that he has an acceptable reason to excuse himself from 2012. I seriously doubt that the Clintons care one bit if the country gets bruised and bloodied along with Obama, just as long as there remains a viable path for them to get back into the White House, if it’s still there in 2012.

    Yttik,

I agree we shouldn’t only focus on the oppression.  To override oppression, would be to point out the great contributions women have men despite these oppressive attitudes.  A great start would be to point out what the women did during WWII — I’ve always thought Rosie the Riviter exhibited the strength, adaptability, durability AND patriotism of women.  Women who literally left the kitchen and learned quickly how to build the ships, guns, bombs, airplanes, etc., and had greater productivity than the men.  Their efforts made the difference in us winning the European conflict and paving the way to the Pacific.  Also, those women who were pilots and WACKS, who served our country with valor. Heck, Paul Revere got more pages in the history books than Rosie did for riding through towns screaming the British are coming…while necessary and important, that hardly trumps what Rosie did for our country!

This is but one example of the extraodinary contributions women have made.  I believe that this isn’t about women’s “victimhood” as much as not allowing women to take away the spotlight from the men, who seem to believe nothing women do, no matter how extraordinary and despite all of the obstacles put up to keep women from succeeding, still does not compare with anything a man does with a playing field set up to favor them.  It’s how men maintain the fascade that they are superior to women.  If women were truly just victims, they would never have achieved some of the things they did.  I think the problem lies with the men’s insecurity.

Insecure men like Beck have a difficult time giving women the same respect and appreciation they automatically have for men.  Based on his coverage of Hillary throughout the 2008 primary, it became apparent that he definitely has issues with strong, accomplished women and that mindset clouds his choice of programs.  Ironically, I bet the majority of his researchers and producers are women!

I would be very interested in how Beck would respond to a request to do a show focusing totally on the American women’s role in the founding of our country and how they, as much as the AA’s, have been excluded from our history.

Where the hell are the tree huggers, the Sierra Clubbers, the whale savers? The ‘worst ecological disaster in the history of America’ and the environmentalists are nowhere to be found. You could stack environmentalists like cord wood when they came to the rescue of the Delta Smelt in the irrigation water system and shut down the entire agricultural production of central California, but the potential devastation of every living thing for a thousand miles in the Gulf, not a peep. If Bush were still President, the whole state of California would be scooping oil out of the Gulf of Mexico right now, cursing the oil producers and the U.S. automakers, but they would still be there hand washing every oyster. Where are all the hollywood elites? This is a good cause to get some air time with. Streisand could do a concert, sure seats would be $15,000 a piece but hey, a girls’ got expenses. The hypocrital left environmental, AGW crowd is giving this administration a complete pass on this disaster. . . hey, where is everybody?

Wow, I just heard on FOX that a volcano in Guatemala, Pacaya, has had a large eruption and has blanketed the capital in ash. I climbed Pacaya when I was in eighth grade when is was VERY active. My brother and I climbed through the clouds and actually stood on the rim so we could see the molten, semi exploding magma in the crater. Every once in a while, white hot rocks the size of bowling balls would land within yards of us. It was AWESOME! And now that I think about it, it was really STUPID!! But what the Hell, I’m still here, and I’ve done far more dangerous things than climb active volcanoes.

    What a fool!

It looks like Obama and his speech writer were lifting the theme off of RFKs ‘Ripples of Hope’ speech and both were too stupid to recognize the currents of oil in the Gulf.

Woo Ha Ha! Mark Steyn is the King of Snarkiness. And a damn fine writer.

“As for many great “thinkers,” for Barack Obama and his coterie words seem to exist mostly in the realm of metaphor rather than as descriptors of actual action actually occurring in anything so humdrum as reality. And so it is that, even as his bungling administration flounders in the turbulent waters of the Gulf, on the speaker’s podium the president still confidently sails forth deftly steering the ship through the narrow ribbon of sludge between the Scylla of sonorous banality and the Charybdis of gaseous uplift.”

Now, if TOTUS could ever come up with something like this, I might start listening.

When you’re 13, you don’t give such things a second thought I guess. I used to ride, by myself, the public buses all over Guatemala City visiting my friends from school, and I was ALWAYS the only blond haired, blue eyed person on board, and the subject of much speculation by the locals riding the bus with their piglets and chickens. It never occurred to me that I was in considerable danger, a young foreign teenager riding alone on a bus in a large city where gunfire is heard nightly. And it didn’t seem to concern my parents. They were either of the school of thought that whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, or they simply had so many kids (there were six of us) that losing one or two of us would have been barely noticed, or a combination of these two.

I have nightmares that my kids would ever be exposed to such danger, what WERE my parents thinking?

Since you brought it up I realized that you are right..Where are they?!? There isn’t even any mention of the disaster on the GreenPeace homepage except to pat Obama on the back for temporarily stopping any new drilling. So I sent this email to Hannity.

Sean I think you should look into the complete lack of any response to the tragedy in the gulf by the Environmental groups! Where are they?!? If this had happened under a Republican President, there would have been hundreds of Hollywood Elite, thousands of GreenPeace volunteers etc etc..On the beaches of Louisiana picketing the Government to do something. MSNBO etc would have reporters on the coast interviewing every single envirowacko they could. But since the far left is in charge we hear crickets from them! I say this as a former democrat, now strongly Tea Party Independent! The loony left has betrayed every principal they claimed to stand for since The One came to power!

True, but as we know, older, you sure know risks and dangers.  But maybe because back then, not that Guatemala wasn’t dangerous, but maybe your parents minds just weren’t there.

As you know (tongue in cheek) the loss of a child, regardless of the size of ones family, is always a pain and suffering one never wants to go through.

I remember at my Grandmas funeral, the priest, who knew our family very well, for decades, mentioned how “Angelina never got over the death of her son, Vito”.  When he said that, we all broke down crying.
ANd I came from a family of 5 children and when I had to tell my mother, over the phone, that I was diagnosed with breast cancer (I am cured now) the blood curdling scream and crying from my mother was something I hope I never have to hear again.

And I know you know all that. :)

Well, on another thread we learned that someone (a Jehovah’s Witness) thinks Obama is really the Anti-Christ.  Now we can also think of his ans the Anti-Odysseus.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, PssstCmere, I am afraid I must take exception to your new moniker for Obama.  See, one of my best friends is dating a UPS man, and we always call him UPS!  He is VERY nice, thoughtful, and considerate.  IOW, nothing like Obama!  :)

Give us a link to this information Mos! If you want to make outrageous claims, fine, show the evidence! But don’t simply make these claims and expect the rest of us to do the research, that’s more than irritating of you. Either cite the proof, or shut up about it.

  • Cindy

oowawa—-exactly. I know I have done some underestimation.
It’s like the old saying: “We’ve met the enemy and it is us (we?)”  or something like that; in other words, while people like myself have taken pleasure in being involved in decades of finger-pointing at “those mean ol’ conservatives”, there were three fingers pointing back at me (and the Dems).
Like I’ve said before, even as politically savvy as I thought hubby and I were, we’ve definitely been enlightened, educated, sickened, embarrased and amazed at political developments since 2oo7.

Well, they’ve had the law since 2006 and Georgia’s Illegal Immigrant Pop. Doubled In 8 Years.

    http://blog.taragana.com/law/2010/02/23/illegal-immigrant-population-in-georgia-doubles-confirms-changing-migration-trends-20393/

ATLANTA — When the Olympic Games came to Atlanta in 1996, a building boom transformed the landscape of downtown and brought with it an influx of Latino immigrants — both legal and illegal.
In the years since, the number of illegal immigrants living in Georgia has skyrocketed. A new federal report says the illegal immigrant population in the state more than doubled from January 2000 to January 2009 to about 480,000.

Southeastern states, with the exception of Florida, had very few immigrants, legal or illegal, as recently as the 1980s. But demographers say the region, with a low cost of living and an abundance of work, has become a magnet for immigrants, especially illegal Mexican immigrants, over the last two decades.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Absolutely, AC – my apologies (and to you, too, Mary Jane!).  In my head, I have a list of people I include when I use a phrase like that, you know – those who are working on becoming legal, those who are fleeing persecution in their countries, those with green cards, et al.  But I realize you cannot possibly know that, so I will use a broader phrase next time.

    Thank you, MJ!  :)

  • oowawa

LOL Cindy–”We’ve met the enemy and it is us.”  But that kind of conflicts with Thee One’s dictum: “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”  Maybe we can combine these two truthy axioms: “We have met the enemy we’ve been waiting for and it is us.”

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, dontcha just hate it when they do that?  Apparently, “Bob” was back pulling that crap again, too.  Seems a bit cowardly to me…

Yes, thanks, IALT.  I was out for the day, so am just seeing lorac’s query.

It is all just too suspicious.  The luncheon between Bill and Barry the DAY before this statement came out.  This has been going on for MONTHS already.

Oh, and when the Obama sycophants keep claiming there was only ONE call, they are lying.  As Krauthammer said, they have already acknowledged discussions from June to July.  Krauthammer said, “That’s one long phone call.”

    “A Jehovah’s Witness” thinks Thee One is really the Anti-Christ . . .

Amusing . . . Having suffered through being indoctrinated as a Jehovah’s Witness until I was 14 or so, I can only say, those people really BELIEVE in all sincerity what they are preaching (which is, largely, that at any time, but very soon, Jesus will come back to Earth, kill the unrighteous in the battle of Armageddon, and institute a New World).  At any rate, their talent for total belief is what has led me to think of Obama Nation as the Obama’s Witnesses.   I can certainly see how they might construe O as the Antichrist.

  • oowawa

Rev. Amy—–forgot to mention that our son-in-law, a south Louisiana native, used to work on oil rigs in the Gulf…He was a diver who did the repairs waaaaaaaay down underwater. He worked there until there was an accident. That’s when he decided to quit that extemely dangerous job and do something safer—-so he became a rodeo bullrider…Hello!!! (He almost got killed doing that, too)
Today he ranches and works with wood, but he has never fully gotten over the stress involved in the oil rig job. It’s one of the most dangerous jobs one can have.

I’m just at the part in Alinsky’s book where he claims that it is important for community organizers to get arrested.  It verifies to the masses they will go to any length for them.  Also it puts them in s situation where they are so bored and lack stimulation to the point that they think inwardly and strengthen their resolve to be good organizers in future and meditate on how to do so.  So Bertha is right on track.  While her organization appears to be collapsing around her she is showing her bona fides to the proletariate.

I think one of the biggest problems in the Arizona Law versus the Mass. Law is the authority given to the police in Arizona to simply ask “people for their papers”. That does not seem to be in the Mass. Law.  I also don’t recall in the Arizona Law any authority by the state not to do business  with companies that hire illegal immigrants.

The Arizona Law is all about rounding up random illegal aliens with random requests of “show me your papers”. That will probably not meet Consitutional muster. It also won’t accomplish much either since “randomness” never amounts to any accomplishment toward any goal.  While the police are busy with “random requests” for papers, there are less man-hours available to protect the public in general.

How is it that Obama’s Aunt has been living in public housing and receiving free medical care and probably a stipend paid for by the US taxpayers for the 6, 7, 8, years she’s beeen living here as an ILLEGAL ALIEN.  Now…SUPRISE, SUPRISE!!!  A judge has granted her amnesty..so she can stay here forever…and still be supported by the US taxpayers.  Where is the OUTRAGE???

Obama’s Illegal Immigrant Aunt Gets To Stay In The United States

Obama Aunt Resides In State-funded Housing In Boston

And it only took them over a year to figure that out!

BOSTON — An immigration judge has granted asylum to President Obama’s aunt and will allow her to stay in the United States, her lawyers said Monday. She could become a citizen in about six years.

Zeituni Onyango, 57, who lives in public housing in Boston, is the half-sister of Mr. Obama’s late father and is from Kenya. She moved to the United States in 2000 on a valid visa and has been seeking asylum since 2002.

Judge Leonard Shapiro, an immigration judge in Boston, reached his decision in the long-running case on Friday. Her lawyers announced the decision Monday at their offices in Cleveland.

Ms. Onyango applied for asylum in 2002 and was rejected in 2004 and ordered to leave the country. She continued to fight the case and in April 2009, Judge Leonard Shapiro in Boston stayed her case until February, when hearings were held in the case.

R3A: Argggh!  I simply couldn’t make it through bo’s video — got to .18 and that was all I could take.  He couldn’t possibly be the anti-Christ because he doesn’t have the voice for it.

This is not just AZ’s problem and the support for their bill isn’t just coming from AZ.  But this problem is just like the HCR law — the WH is tone deaf to the country’s reaction to its forced march into the sea of bo’s demogoguery.

Way up-thread, there was a discussion on HRC, WJC and some theories about what who knows about whom.  Hillary made some very brief but underscored statements during the debates and primaries that we should look more closely at bo’s history.  I really do think that there might be something to the Clintons’ knowing about something that cannot be denied about bo.  And as odd as it seems, I got the strong inmpression (hair standing up on the back of my neck impression) that she knew she couldn’t go any further with divulging her info without derailing her own race for the WH.  Whether it was because she believed it would be taken as sour grapes or what, I don’t know.  Does anyone else remember her pointed comment during one of the debates about checking into bo’s stuff a little more closely?  It was pretty subtle, almost an off-hand remark.

Mosite, if La Raza had threatened Obama and his family, all he would need to do is inform the Secret Service and that would be the end of La Raza, period. Rest assured that La Raza knows this. Obama is only interested in what can advance his own career, reputation, etc. At this point, I think he has lost all interest in actually being President. He accomplished his goal of being the first black President, and now that it seems he has to actually do some work, he is off to the golf course, after making token appearances in LA. He should be met at every airport he lands at with signs that say, “RESIGN, OBAMA, RESIGN!!” Maybe he will take the hint.

  • FLDemFem

Ellen, Foreign students get the same lowering of standards for admission that Affirmative Action gives. Occidental College, where Obama went before he allegedly went to Columbia, is a feeder school for foreign students who need to get their academics up to US standards before going on to an Ivy League school.

If Obama signed an affidavit that he was a foreign national to get one of the scholarships available to foreign students, then he either committed perjury or he is ineligible for the presidency by virtue of not being a natural born citizen. Either way, his school records will show it. That, in my opinion, is why they are sealed, and why he has spent literally millions of dollars keeping them that way.

Linda, the Federal law requires that anyone with a green card show it, on demand at any time, to any law enforcement officer who asks to see it. So asking to see their green cards is just paralleling the Federal law, which says that green card holders are required to do exactly that.

    bamaLV,

Me too!  How about Candy Crowley being promoted.  Of course, I’m sure it had nothing to do with her carrying obama’s water throughout the primary and then afterwards, like Juan and Alan, always making excuses and explaining what us lesser beings can’t understand.

They are bought and paid for by the Soros, et al. power elites, who put obama in the WH to advance their agenda of a global economy and one world government at break neck speed.  I think they were counting on obama to be able to maintain the fascade of being THE ONE we’ve been waiting for.

Juan and Alan are doing their best to keep the lid on the truth about obama and of course, TO KEEP THEIR JOBS.  The more they continue to defend the indefensible, the more determined the American people are to pull together in a united effort to purge our government of these traitors, who have long ago sold us down the river.

    Let’s not let them succeed.

Fox just replayed a special they made about “The American Terrorist”, Anwar Alaqi (sp?).  His parents were from Yemen, came here for college and graduate school, and Alaqi was born while they were studying in New Mexico.  So he was an American citizen.  He grew up here for awhile, then they moved back to Yemen.  He came back here for college.  But even though he was an American citizen, he applied to college as an international student, and received two scholarships wort $20,000, a full ride – from taxpayer money.  As soon as he got back here, he applied for (and received) a new social security number, on the fraudulent info that he was NOT born here.

There is some evidence that Obama has multiple social security numbers (including one issued in Connecticut, where he has never lived) and that he may have applied as a foreign student to get scholarships…..

  • FLDemFem

What makes you think he isn’t? Can’t you people see what he is doing?? Bill Clinton is scary smart, a brilliant mind, incredibly well-educated. Obama isn’t any of those things, and Obama thinks he can use Bill. Doesn’t see that every bit of info he gives Bill will be used against him. I think Bill is going to bring Obama down, and he is laying the groundwork for that now. So just wait, and trust that Bill Clinton has the good of the country close to his heart. He will rid us of this unqualified jerk. Just give him some time. I can see what he is doing, but then I am a bit Machiavellian myself. Revenge is a dish best tasted cold. And Bill Clinton hasn’t forgotten the primary, or the convention and what Obama did to his wife. He will not forget or forgive. He bides his time until the time and circumstances are right..which should be soon. Things are coming together, and when they do, the fraud will be swept out of office and into jail and obscurity. Just wait. You’ll see. And when it does happen, I am going to be all over NQ doing the “I told you so!!” dance.
