<blockquote>Now, though, their newest September 5-7 poll puts McCain four points points ahead.</blockquote>
That's ALL possible voters. Remember election turnouts are abysmally low in the US. The second survey is further filtered for people 'likely to vote'. And in that survey McCain leads 54%-44%.

That's a much more accurate assessment. 3% possible deviation means it could be only 51%-47% or at the other end of the spectrum a walloping 57%-41%. And I like that latter figure. I've already predicted 56% to McCain in the GE. So it sounds about right.

Let’s assign blame where blame should be.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported August 3, 2001:

Superior Bank, half-owned by the wealthy Pritzker family, was shut down by the FDIC Friday after a bailout plan by the Pritzkers, who own the Hyatt Hotel chain, and their partner, New York real estate developer Alvin Dworman, fell through. The bank failed because it had lost nearly all of its more than $2 billion of assets on bad loans to high-risk borrowers, federal regulators said.

When is someone going to talk about Obama's financial campaign chairman - Penny Pritzker, that cost the Federal Government - taxpayers one billion dollars when Superior Bank failed, and 450 million dollars still owed to the FDIC - and they gave her 15 years to pay back - no interest.

The bank engaged in deceptive and faulty lending, questionable accounting practices, and charged hidden fees. It made thousands of dubious loans to mostly poor, strapped homeowners. A disproportionate number of them were minority.

These questions need to be asked and answered.

Mr. Obama, why does she still have a principal financial role in your campaign?

Mr Obama, if Obama elected will you waive this money owed?

Barack Obama talks how hundreds have lost in the sub prime mess. It seems like the only person to come out well was his finance manager. And he knows it.
Guess that is just the “Chicago Way”.

http://www.loanworkout.org/ 2008/03/25/obama-penny-pritzker/

And guess who bought the servicing portfolio rights of the failed bank?
From the FDIC:

The assets were sold to EMC Mortgage Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bear Stearns & Co., Inc.. The FDIC recovered $517 million (net) from the residual interest portfolio since Superior’s failure on July 27, 2001, including $471 million in sales proceeds.

The transfer of the servicing rights to EMC Mortgage Corporation is expected to be completed by the end of June.

So the glorious Federal Reserve bails out Bear Stearns, TO THE TUNE OF $30 BILLION and Bear Stearns was involved in buying all the toxic crap from Superior Bank in 2001?

I am sure the guys at Bear packaged and sold that stuff fast. Rinse and repeat. They now have found the new business model that they will duplicate over and over to where we sit today folks

Expect and prepare for the United Nations to rear their heads. Some Democrats called them in to watch this election, to guard against what else but racism. Besides trying to rile up supporters, Obama's camp is trying to build up a case. So let's each go to our supervisor of elections and let them know in a nice way that we will be watching. Ask can we be poll watchers. Count votes
I think the electronic voting machines will come into play. Anyone one got ideas how we can protect against that kind of fraud?

Oh me too ......Scared to death. In fact I have considered selling all and leaving this country I love so much, called America, in the event he <strike>steals</strike> wins the election. Leave and give up or stay and defend? If America falls, then the rest of the world will fall too. Better to stay and defend.

Polls are real tricky things in this election. Three reasons:

1. Pollsters don’t include cell phones. Many young voters, first time young voters, etc., don’t have land lines and use only cell phones. So like Chuck Todd of MSNBC has suggested Obama’s strength may be actually be underestimated by polling data. This is a potential plus for Obama.

2. Related to point #1 above is the question of turn-out for the youth vote. If the youth vote is energized, then turn out will be high. Duh! But then again, the youth vote is notoriously fickle and often stays home. Moreover, Obama’s positives have taken a real hit since he began his brazen flip-flopping back in June. (Actually, Barack O’Bullshit was always flip-flopping and pulling bait-n-switches since day one—it’s just that the corporate media was keeping it under raps.) High youth voter turn-out is a direct result of how inspired young voters are. If they are seeing a brazen flip-flopper, i.e. the TRUTH, then they will NOT come out in big numbers.

3. The <b>Bradley-Wilder</b> Effect: People will lie to pollsters for fear of being perceived as racist, i.e. this is a huge negative for Obama. On the other hand, working class whites have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of since he called them not just “bitter” but also racist, i.e. “They cling to … antipathy towards those that aren’t like them… antipathy towards immigrants.” And then there’s his pile of slippery statements concerning Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright.

If it is a close race, then McCain-Palin should beat him easily. Obama needs a cushion of about 10 percentage points to ensure the Bradley-Wilder effect doesn’t do him in.

------------
And let’s not forget, we do not have a direct democracy, but rather an electoral college. So the respective polling data for battleground states is more important than the national polling data.

lee m......

olbermann and mathews should not have been demoted.

they should have been fired outright.

however....they did what they were put there to do.....

which was to take Hillary down and shill for obama.

now msnbc is trying to get real viewers back, and copping to the fact that they may have been a little biased. yeah, now that most people with brain matter that works will have NOTHING to do with them.

we are not amused.

we will not be viewing msnbc.

Attacking Palin has been a losing strategy so far, why would Obama/Axelrod continue it? They need to retool their strategy, not continue down the same losing path. Also, BO desparately needs to campaign for President, not VP. McCain appears like he's already the President and he also looks like a father/grandfather figure to boot (that is not a bad thing).

BO was dragged across the finish line unable to close the deal. He hasn't had many positive results with actual voters since HRC won Ohio and Texas back at the beginning of March.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but if I were Obama I would go the opposite direction from the strategy you outline. He is running out of time, he needs to define his POSITONS and POLICIES. He needs to grab the economy as an issue in a BIG way and not let go of it from now until November 4.

You are right these polls will tighten again, but Obama needs to get out in front of something and get some momentum. Right now he is like a sailboat in 'dead calm' unable to move, just floating and waiting for God to help. Ain't going to happen. For the first time in his life, he's going to have to earn something.

This person who posts as "Monet" has me puzzled.
While trying to convince us that he/she is against Obama "Monet" keeps downplaying our enthusiasm for Governor Palin. While she is running for VP, not Prez, Governor Palin is definetly frightening the Obots.

I was going to vote for John McCain even before Governor Palin came on board. She is just the icing on the cake.

John McCain is a true American heroe. The fact that he is a maverick who does not tow the Republican line exclusively makes him an even more attractive candidate. Nobody is overlooking his attributes. His acceptance speech so outclassed that of Obama's that only a dunce could not see the difference in the two men. McCain's speech was all about country and the people. Obama's speech was all about himself. That is, the parts that weren't stolen from Hillary Clinton.

As for bringing out more facts about Obama's past and his disreputable associates, rest assured that those matters will be addressed in the next few weeks.

AND if Philip Berg is successful in getting an expedited discovery pertaining to his lawsuit that will just add more meat to the pot.

SO lay off Governor Palin. I'm sure she will be able to handle anything they throw her way. Just remember, she has a real man (John McCain) to back her up. She won't be left dangling in the wind, the our Hillary was.
