Cybill Shepherd and the Return to Salem

This post is a guest post from, Shtuey is his blogging name. He is a teacher in North Carolina! Here is a link to his personal blog:http://ohmyvalve.blogspot.com/. Thanks, Nance

It’s official: The witch hunt against the Palins is on. Cybill Shepherd, who ought to know a thing or two about the objectification of women, is now very concerned that Bristol Palin is being forced to have her baby and marry her boyfriend (this I saw in an interview on a Hollywood gossip show late last night; this is what happens when you don’t turn the TV off after watching DVDs). That’s right, a young woman gets pregnant with her boyfriend. The mother is pro-life. It is logical to assume she raised her children this way. It’s what they believe. The obvious logical conclusion must be the Palins are forcing Bristol to do this. I guess no 17 year old in their right mind would have their child and marry the father….that’s just crazy talk. Obama would no doubt say she is being punished, oh wait…he already has.

I suppose the next step would be to rescue Bristol from the Palin family, deprogram her, and force her to have a late term abortion. That’ll show those right wing fascists.

This has become a witch hunt pure and simple. The Palin nomination is forcing liberal women to look at the fact that women’s rights extends to those who choose not to have abortions; that it extends to women who are diametrically opposed to them politically, and they don’t like it. In fact, they are so against the notion that Cybill Shepherd is essentially declaring the Palins akin to a cult where the girls are forced to keep their babies against their will. These are some of the same people who say the Jewish ritual of circumcision is barbaric and must be stopped.

WE WILL FORCE YOU TO SURRENDER YOUR HEATHEN WAYS AND BE JUST LIKE US!!!

But for some reason Gloria Steinem, Sally Quinn, and presumably Cybill Shepherd, have no problem with the fact that the DNC in Denver opened with a multi-faith convocation where abortion was openly condemned by Bishop Charles E. Blake, and that the woman who organized it, Leah Daughtry, CEO of the DNC and Howard Dean’s Chief of Staff, is Pentecostal…which National Public Radio (NPR) has reported is the same faith as Sarah Palin. Nope, these hypocrites have no problem with that as it’s all in the name of Obama the Messiah.

The women’s movement is going down in flames. It’s credibility is floundering. Does the ERA apply only to those who are pro-choice? If you aren’t going to stand up for women of all religions, backgrounds, and creeds then you are nothing. You are worthless, and I have no time for you or your movement.

Tell you what Cybill; why don’t you just hold a sham trial and sentence the Palins to death? That’ll show ‘em!

Bill Clinton says Obama will win handily

    http://thepage.time.com/

    I AM ABOUT TO CRY

  • No Obamislamists

I was actually joking in AOL’s political chat rooms that libs were going to do an intervention on Bristol Palin to convince her to abort her baby because “it’s the right thing to do”.

Apparently I’m not far off the mark.

  • vinnie

What else is he supposed to say? The Dems are bringing in the big clinton guns to save precious’ ass.

  • Margaret

    Don’t worry, it isn’t true.

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

i just said that on the other thread

except instead of cry I said SPIT!!!!!

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I’M SO GLAD I AM PUMA UNA!!

  • Denise

I was thinking that we could request a National boycott of one day or two or three or maybe an entire week of turn your TV’s only to fox news; no movie nights for you or your kids; do not purchase news papers or magazines unless it’s the NY Post etc……….

Pick a day and put out the notices.

    How about Sept.19th?

  • Denise

I guess Hillary is getting that money she needed to pay off her campaign debt from Obama after all.

  • Dawnelle Leona Del Puma

lol that’s easy because that’s all I watch anymore

that and the weather channel and occasionally E or Comedy Central

the rest I surf (I’d be glad to give up surfing as long as necessary) hehe ;-)

  • No Obamislamists

Of course, this is the same guy who said he never had sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky too.

I’m thoroughly disappointed in the Clintons. Political hacks who will take beating after beating in order to put their party first. I will never EVER give these people money again, for any reason. If some asshole tried to write me off as a KKK style racist the secret service would have to restrain me from kicking his ass everytime I saw him…but I guess that’s just me.

  • Zelda Crunch

    Nope it’s not true.

But let this be a warning to Bill and Hillary: you’ve done enough. Anything further will destroy the legacy of your presidency, first ladyship, senate work, and political career. Be warned; wake up.

  • Elaine

Maybe he is just giving the One a false sense of security….

I too SPIT on the hypocrisy of NARAL, NOW and Planned Parenthood. They’ll get no more donations from me ever!

What the hell is up with the Obamacrat women??

Don’t worry. Bill got something for it.

  • tminu

    I’m blown away

they’re seething that that sweet baby is gestating away sleepily, happily, waiting to be born
    how DARE it

they want at it with scalpels and vacuums and curettes

they would give Bristol a cookie and a cup of orange juice afterward, I’m sure

  • WMCB

Yes, it’s a witch hunt, and it is sick to see.

  • Mr.Murder

    It is what it is.

Hypocritical creationists family planning deniers doing what theyt claim to be entirely immoral.

    Pit Bull = white trash.

  • nobonomo

Bill is basically saying then, that Hillary is not going to run for POTUS again. If they work to get Obama elected then Hillary’s time has come and gone.

There will be no 2016 for her. Even if she would run there would be no chance for the Democrats that year after 8 years of Obama.

All he can do now is negotiate for a better deal within the administration for Hillary and some help with her debt. It must be heartbreaking for Hillary to know that she will never realize her dream.

If Bill and Hill go out on the trail they will get Obama elected, they have that much power. Unless, this is all a smokescreen because the Clintons know that the GOP has some information that will sink Obama for good.

Don’t cry yet. Bill Clinton knows BO isn’t going to win, that’s how he smiles thru all of this.

The Clintons will do what they have to do, and so will the Dem voters who cross party lines in November. Hillary has declined to attack Palin in her appearances on behalf of BO. Before I lose respect for the Clintons, I will see how Bill’s words translate in action.

Sarah Palin knowingly brought a baby with a genetic defect into the world, where the ultimate result would be suffering for all involved. Now, I am not advocating for eugenics, but it is certainly better than disgenics. Matt Damon is right, Sarah Palin is “scary”.

  • kenoshaMarge

While I have had nothing but respect and admiration for both Clintons for many years I am beginning to doubt that respect.

It appears to me, and this is just me, that both Clintons care more about their party than their country.

They’ve done more than enough. And if they keep this shit up they will damage their own credibility. For me it’s all ready too late. If they support Obama, then they have nothing more to say to me. Enough is damn well enough.

  • bmc

Look, Bill and Hillary Clinton are pols. That’s their career; Clinton’s just doing what he has to do for the party–the same party that threw Clinton overboard during the primaries. Ya think he’s really passionate about Barack?

    heh.

He hated John Kerry too, and he campaigned for him 6 weeks after open heart surgery, when he nearly died.

    It didn’t help, did it?

  • lark

Bill just wants this meeting to be a chapter in his next book. No biggie. Anything for a buck.

Through the whirling wind, God Himself spoke and said, “who are these who claim to know my workings and all of my ways …”

Obama is NOT a messiah. He was not sent by God. For God would not send one to kill his unborn children. Obama is not even a qualified candidate. He shows no knowledge about people and certainly no mercy for them and their unborn.

Democrats are now essentially perversely, exceedingly delusional — in ABSOLUTE denial of
themselves and their piously held extreme liberal feminist rhetoric that subtly defines choice as abortion and nothing else.

    Down with Barack Obama.

May the Lord forever bless our beloved country.

From what I’ve read recently, BO isn’t bringing in the $$ and he’s burning through money faster than he can raise it. I don’t see him being able to help with that anymore.

  • csuzeq

I think the Clintons are really campaigning for Hillary. They have to throw in a little, “Oh, Obama is great” here and there for kicks and giggles. Other than that, they are keeping the Clinton name out there for when Hillary has to step in when the Obamanible Showman is deemed in eligible:

    http://www.obamacrimes.com

  • dixie

Well as GW would put it, Bill Clinton “Underestimated” Barack Obama too.

  • sproutingly

Are you saying their baby will grow up to procreate Down Syndrome children?

  • Freedom Fighter

No, Bill Clinton is just showing the party is united behind Barack Obama. It’s Obama’s party now and he understands that. We will win handily in November.

  • lark

They are also writers and consultants. So inside stories and anecdotes adds pages to books and nice paragraph in speeches. He charges like 100k or more for a speech. He needs something unique to say in them. And he makes 20/30 million with each book. So more power to him. Screw us.

That is why McCain is so attractive and SO FRESH. Vote McCain/Palin 2008

  • dixie

As GW Bush wpuld put it. Bill Clinton “MISUNDERESTIMATED” Barack Obama too. So take it with a grain of salt. :)

  • SHV

Of course, this is the same guy who said he never had sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky too.

Surprise..they are politicians..Remember the McCain hug for “W” after McCain’s family was trashed and they said McCain sold out his fellow POWs? I think John is getting the last laugh on W and Rove. I don’t know about Hillary but Bill has a long memory.

  • csuzeq

Obama is Godlike right? Couldn’t he just make baby Tryg not have down syndrome and make Bristol unpregnant? Oh, yes, he’d have to put his hands on them for that and nothing would be worth having those slimy hands on anyone!

For the record, should I be striken blind or deaf, I willnot have Obama touch me!

  • lark

Oh and by the way, Obama will also write a few books after this one. A chapter would be titled: Bill Clinton and how much he meant to me in those final days.

Barack Obama went to Harvard, he has a high IQ. Sarah Palin wants to burn books and is an extremist anti-science, religious freak. Do we want a nut like that one heart beat away from the nuclear codes?

Awww, shades of Sybil Leek, Cybill. The white witches vs. the fundamentalist Christians. Wonder who’s got the most votes? I always figured Howard Dean lost because people saw the likes of Rob Reiner and Charlie Sheen standing behind him, not because of a “scream”. And now these Hollywood pagans and atheists are going to rescue us all from the First Amendment and the right to privacy. Go stir your cauldrons. Barack’s already brought you enough toil and trouble.

  • Duras

Care to put some money on that?

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

Sarah Palin knowingly brought a baby with a genetic defect into the world, where the ultimate result would be suffering for all involved.

The ultimate result is certainly not suffering for all involved. I have a disabled loved one, and I have been inspired by the courage he has demonstrated just in the daily living of his life. He has met challenges that spineless individuals such as yourself could never imagine, let alone overcome.

Anyone thinking Bill Clinton is aiding Obama is a fool, Obama is so stupid in meeting with Clinton alone shows his weakness is shining big time right now.

This gives the Clinton’s the power they need when Obama is slaughtered in Nov to remove the likes of Dean, Pelosi, Reid and Soro from the Democratic Party and put the DNP back into the form it was set up to be for 2012!

I’m really afraid this is wishful thinking but I do hope it happens! Ohitler has bought himself some mighty protection by threatening a race war if he is not elected and at a minimum I think it protects him from being declared ineligible. Realistically I think the best we can hope for is a massive voter turnout combined with better cheating from the Repubs than from the Dems. That is what this cluster fuck has devolved into I am afraid.

  • lark

That’s what separate Clinton from all of you writers that blog here. You wish to be a fly on the wall with a tape recorder. Nothing wrong with that. But when you sell a thousand books, Bill Clinton will sell 2/3 million copies or more. Why? Meetings like this one. That’s the stuff he’s got that no one else has and that sells books.

NATIONAL BOYCOTT DAY SCHEDULED FOR: SEPTEMBER 19

Our mission is to get Hollywood’s attention that it’s ok to pick your party but it’s not ok to insult your consumers by continuously making these wild accusations. Hollywood hates the National Enquirer but the statements and comments they’ve been making these days are absurd.

So boycott Hollywood for the entire day of 9/19 (until 11/4 would be even better):

Boycott all TV stations EXCEPT for FOX.
Do not attend go out to the movies
Do not purchase any newspapers or magazines EXCEPT for the New York Post
Do not rent or buy any movies ect………
Do not buy any music especially boycott Madonna, P-Diddy, Heart, etc………..
Boycott anything you feel is connected with these crazy Hollywood Pundit want to be’s.

Is there anything we can do to get Hollywood’s attention that it’s ok to pick your party but it’s not ok to insult your consumers by continuously making these wild accusations?

I’m as pro-choice as they come, but eff you. The choice to have Trig was Gov. and Mr. Palins’ choice, period. The only “suffering” to befall this couple regarding their choice to have Trig seems to be the suffering that might be caused by comments such as yours.

  • KsGirl

Me too. I agree with you…

  • Rev. Wright, can you fix my garlic nose?

    sorry, I disagree.

    Not 24k.

  • Monet

Since I didn’t see the interview, I don’t know if I agree with Ms. Shepherd or not.

I do think if a seventeen year old girl prefers to have an abortion and her parents are against it, that option is off the table for her. None of us have any idea if that is the situation here and theorizing it is, is fruitless.

It’s just as probable that Ms. Palin wants to have her baby. Maybe she would prefer adoption over raising the child and her mother’s career choices are preventing it. If this is the case, Ms. Palin has options and I’m sure she’ll choose what is best for her.

It’s also possible that Ms. Palin wants to have her baby, raise the child and marry her boyfriend. The marriage part is where I think parents have to turn against public opinion (whether it’s the neighbors on the block or the American public). Teenage marriages have a dismal success rate, especially when a baby is involved. Wise parents support their daughters’ choices but lobby against marriage. Suggesting instead that the daughter wait two years after the child’s birth and if she still wants to marry her boyfriend then, they’ll support the marriage.

It’s difficult being a teenage mother. The difficulties are increased in a teenage marriage.

In my opinion, which doesn’t matter since Ms. Palin isn’t my daughter, there would be no marriage for at least two years. I find it difficult to agree with the Palins’ if their decision is to have a wedding as soon as possible. Maybe it stops the tongues from wagging, but there are better options for the teenage mother, including having her child, raising her child with the support of her parents and waiting at least two years before marrying the father of the child. The answer isn’t always abortion, adoption or marriage and all three can have devastating effects emotionally on the teenager’s life.

The Palins’ haven’t given a date for the wedding and it wouldn’t surprise me if it isn’t anytime in the near future or that it never happens.

Well, it reflects the downside of abortion rights. A female hounded, by the male who impregnated her (or her family) to abort as to not inconvenience them. Due to the “feminist” storm around the Palin family, the truth of this downside is there for all to see. One way or another, we females have someone up in our reproductive organs, or dictating how we behave during pregancy (which also involves choice about our bodies). “Choice” is all fine and good, as long as we “choose” what others dictate.

What are you crying about? Have you watched the video? Bill clinton knows after he has completed his gobal initative work, obama will be toast. Did you see how clinton never acknowledged obama in the clip? Never looked at him acknowledged he was speaking nothing, nada, zero. I might as been standing there instead of obama!

Clinton realizes he just got something for nothing because by the time bill”the big dawg” gets around to doing things for obama, obama will be toast.

Also did you notice how intimated obama was? No arrogance-he actually looked humbled before the big dawg. I bet you bill tore him a new one during their “lunch”.

BTW, isn’t bill still a racist? Oh maybe he was just a temporary racist? So i guess blacks can go back to liking bill again because his time as a racist has expired. Somebody should let the EEOC know about this temporary racist status-they are going to have to amend a lot of civil rights laws.

    Freedom? Fighter says…

Sarah Palin knowingly brought a baby with a genetic defect into the world, where the ultimate result would be suffering for all involved.

On what f@cking planet are you considered a democrat?
In what den of cold blooded lizards were you raised?
People with mental and physical handicaps are such a drain on humanity that they should always be aborted? Is that what you are seriously saying here?

Look, I have no problem with a woman making this decision when faced with it. But it is a DECISION. Meaning, more than ONE choice.

And who is doing all this suffering you refer to? Certainly not the Palin’s.
You, Freedom Fighter, could benefit greatly from hanging around people with Down’s Syndrome. Please do some volunteer work. I think you will quickly change your mind about who benefits from whom. You most certainly would expand your very limited opinion on what the term “humanity” means.

(and I have no idea why you think anyone should value Matt Damon’s opinion in a political discourse. He is a voter like anyone else and is entitled to his opinion, but you reference him like his words should have more weight than average Joe. Matt Damon is average Joe in this arena. Maybe you meant to post on a teen beat website?)

  • Obama’s gums look sick

It gets even better. My anti-Palin friends claim the father is scared to death because Palin has a real shot-gun and is forcing a real shot-gun wedding.

They love seeing women as vindictive and punitive ala Hillary Clinton smear as well. The prejudices exist first, then they get projected outside themselves. I see them as forcing a shot-gun marriage of their predjudices on Sarah Palin, but that is their “gut” reactions for their own fears and failings.

These will not stick and serve to bring hidden ugliness that few others relate too. Everything a dark fear hits sunlight, it dissolves and disappears. It is time for fears about “women” as punishing harridans comes to light, and die.

Women will see the monster in themselves in others first, and then only later finally own it in themselves. This is just step one and a good one to be experiencing.

Thanks Monet, you took the words right out of my head. My gut reaction since it was first announced that Bristol Palin was pregnant was that I wasn’t as concerned about her being pregnant as I was about the engagement. 17 and pregnant? Ugh, not exactly ideal. 17 and pregnant and marrying the also-young father? Quite probably a disaster in the making! Your comments above sound very much like a conversation my own mother and I had about Bristol when the news came out.

It is very antiquated thinking to assume that just because a young woman gets pregnant and keeps the baby she automatically has to get married to the father. It does not necessarily make a less-than-ideal situation any better.

  • Monet

“The women’s movement is going down in flames. It’s credibility is floundering. Does the ERA apply only to those who are pro-choice?”

The ERA doesn’t apply at all, we’re still waiting for it.

Over the past twenty years, the conservative right has chipped away the rights of young women under the age of eighteen. Their access to birth control is difficult unless their parents approve. They don’t have the choice of an abortion unless their parents approve.

If a pregnant seventeen year old girl doesn’t want to marry her boyfriend and her parents insist on marriage or else they’ll kick her out (which I don’t think has happened in the Palin family), she may have no where else to turn.

Ms. Shepherd applied the lack of options for teenage mothers to the Palin family. Which opened her to attack. Take the Palin family out of the picture and Ms. Shepherd is right, teenage girls often have no choices, their parents hold the right of choice.

I disagree vehemently with this author that the women’s movement is going down in flames. The flames have been flickering out for the past two decades, starting with putting parental rights over a teenage girl’s right to determine her options where a pregnancy is concerned. This works both ways. If a fifteen year doesn’t want an abortion, she’s going to have to go to court to stop her parents. If she does want one and her parents refuse, once again – she has to ask a court to intervene.

The conservative right has been holding our uteruses and birth control methods hostage for the past three decades. And now if we’re pro-choice and believe every woman regardless of age should have the ability to make her own choice without state or parental intervention (abortion, pregnancy to term, adoption or marriage), we’re taking the woman’s movement down in flames.

So much for the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness applying to all women. Just the women who are pro-life.

Obama forces have not been able to bring Palin down. Now they are worming their way into her family to try and break her down. They did it with their fake pregnancy charge because the Palins did go public to stop that vicious rumor. They know this tactic can work.

And Obama sits by silent because now he is ticked he is losing. Courage Sarah and Bristol and Todd – yes, the Dems are after your family because they want only to destroy you.

I’ve got news for you: Pro-choice people WANT fewer abortions to occur. No one “loves” the idea of abortion, sick-o. The pro-choice agenda is simply that abortion be legal and safe and available; it’s not pushing for as many abortions as possible. WTF? Any pro-choicer will tell you that any child that is truly wanted by the parents should be born, that any pregnancy embraced with joy and gratitude is a pregnancy worth continuing. That’s what choice is all about.

    Camille Pagila writes on Salon.com
“Conservative though she may be, I felt that Palin represented an explosion of a brand new style of muscular American feminism. At her startling debut on that day, she was combining male and female qualities in ways that I have never seen before. And she was somehow able to seem simultaneously reassuringly traditional and gung-ho futurist. In terms of redefining the persona for female authority and leadership, Palin has made the biggest step forward in feminism since Madonna channeled the dominatrix persona of high-glam Marlene Dietrich and rammed pro-sex, pro-beauty feminism down the throats of the prissy, victim-mongering, philistine feminist establishment.”

I thought about this all night. When so many were getting excited yesterday about the possibility of Biden stepping down, and Hillary stepping in. It made me ill.

Everything we’ve did, we did for Hillary. Do you know how many times I’ve been called a racist? We all have. A bigot. White trash. Etc..etc. For what? For supporting Hillary!

Would anyone of us stay with a man that abuses us? I sure as hell wouldn’t. Not mentally or physically. Would any one of us tell our daughters it’s ok if a man treats you like that? Talks to you like that? To not stand up and fight for yourself? I would expect my daughter to be mentally strong enough to stand on her own. I will not do it for Hillary either. This is about Democracy. It is about our principles.

Are we now going to throw out everything we’ve been fighting for? Join in the sexist attacks against Sarah and her daughter? The vile attacks on her infant? That would make us better how? That would stop what happened this year the next time a woman runs how?

I will not support an Obama/Clinton ticket. If she is one of those women that want to ignore the abuse, keep putting up with the abuse…I’ll have lost all respect for her. If her husband is now going to tell us what was done to her was A-OK, so he could have a role in the White House. After she stood by him. I’ll loose all respect I had for him, and I had a lot.

I’ve defended Hillary campaigning for him because I know she still has a debt, and it helps her. For not getting too catty or saying too much because I know she’s up for re-election in 2010. We’ve all seen the cheap tricks, the asinine behavior that occurs when you go too strongly against the party. I still think Biden was trying to use a cheap pick-up line to get Hillary supporters on board, but if I am wrong…

Your quote proves my point and Jim Clyburn is a Democratic congressman from SC, not a guy who runs a blog. There’s a difference.

The decline and fall of Jim Clyburn in the upcoming finger-pointing, blame game that will commence in the Democratic party on Wed, Nov. 5 will provide a lot of pleasure. He is a giant RAT!

Or could either one of you here calling us Republicans explain to us exactly how if she runs as Obama’s VP she will be able to run as POTUS in 2012? I await your answer.

  • Diana

I don’t believe that. Not for one second. I think Biden was trying to pick up Hillary supporters. Nothing more, nothing less. It didn’t work for me, I know a cheap pick-up line when I hear one.

Hillary hasn’t allowed herself to be used, yet. She’s done what she’s needed to, to try and help pay off her debt. She came out and said I will NOT be an attack dog against Palin. She can only do so much.

The Republicans aren’t going to open their arms up to her and say, “Come Hillary be a Republican, we will protect you.” She also has to think about her own career. That’s what we are fighting for.

The only thing I ask out of Hillary is to please let us do what needs to be done so you can run again in 2012 without the sexist attacks you had to go through this year. We’re establishing grass roots, we’ll be looking out for her in 2010. But, if she condones what has happened, she’ll be going against everything we’ve been fighting for. Not only for her, but for all women running for office. I cannot support that. I can’t.

  • makeji

Heaven help me, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh this morning and he got me laughing so hard I was in tears – of happiness.

He did such a great imitation of Bill Clinton. To paraphrase. Bill was thinking that he and Hillary really wanted Obama to lose so that she could run again in 2012, so he figured that he would campaign for Obama. The thinking being that if the conservative base isn’t already charged up enough about Sarah Palin, they would be if he started campaigning. That the last time the conservative right was so united was when he was running for President and that if it hadn’t been for Ross Perot, he’d never have been elected.

So don’t be sad. Bill knows what he’s doing. Thankfully someone in the Democratic party does.

What I mean is…look at that boyfriend of hers. No one has to FORCE her to marry him. He’s a catch.

And generally speaking it’s not a “good idea” to marry at 17. But…on the other hand, isn’t Todd Palin Sarah’s high school sweetheart? Some of these young relationships ending lasting a lifetime whereas those people who “waited” end up divorced three times.

Yeah, but no mental support. Which is something I have been fighting for for a very long time. Apparently, they’ve gotten it into their heads that this is something women take lightly. They sure concern themselves with out uterus’s enough. Like our uterus is any of their business.

I will never believe that a majority of women consider this an easy decision. Look at the woman that started the whole Roe V Wade thing. It is a very difficult decision for the majority of women. They need mental support. Not just an, “It’s done. OK good-bye.” Some of these women have strong support systems that help them. See them through. Other’s are not that lucky. It plays with their minds, if not years later.

There is a need to establish some sort of support system/group to address their mental needs as well. As I said, I’ve been suggesting this for years. Writing, calling.

Not a fan of Madonna or anything she’s supposedly done for feminism…did bring a lot of skanky sleaze out for young women to copy.

However, Dietrich was certainly one of the most glamorous women of her era and was extremely brave. She stood up to Hitler and risked her life many times going to the front lines during the war to lift morale and perform for them. She was given many awards by the American and French governments. You wouldn’t have been shocked to find her carrying a gun tucked in her garter. Many women in that generation were sexy, glam and strong women men loved…How about Carole Lombard, hunted and fished with husband, Clark Gable. They didn’t emasculate their men but joined in with them.

Something really was lost with the 60′s feminism. Maybe Sarah can mirror for women some of what that is.

If Bill and Hill go out on the trail they will get Obama elected, they have that much power. Unless, this is all a smokescreen because the Clintons know that the GOP has some information that will sink Obama for good.

I’ve thought about this also, the problem I found with that scenerio is….who will it reflect back on? Obama? No it’s going to damage Bill and Hillary, because they’re the ones people trusted. People will say you knew! Especially if that tape of Michelle surfaces. You had to have known, yet you came out here and told us to vote for him anyway. Think we’re going to trust you again? It’s a no win situation. I seriously think they should do no more than they have to for him. It’s his job, not theirs to carry him to the White House.

I LOVE Bill Clinton, I really do. I LOVE Hillary Clinton even more.
BUT, I don’t like obama and will not vote for him, even at the request of two of the people I admire most. They are doing what they have to do as part of the democratic party so Hillary will be able to run in 2012 and I understand that. I know they are doing the absolute minimum that they are capable of because if they were full force, obama would be well in the lead. They will tow the party line, but they won’t step on bit beyond that because they are as disgusted with him as we are.
Bill IS capable of lying and he is doing so when he campaigns for the arrogant asshole. I won’t condemn him for it because he has to for his wife. I won’t condemn her for it (unless she attacks Palin because that would be a conflict of her ethics). I know they are doing what they have to, they show us on their faces that they don’t believe it and I will not vote for this farce of a candidate.

Bert, I believe that is exactly what beverly leslie was saying. She is saying, yes, they are doing this because they have to. She is also saying that if they go TO far, and actually throw their fullhearted support behind the sexist asshole that it would show that support for them may not be deserved.
IF they go as far as to attack Palin just because obi wants them to, not because they want to, then they overstep the line.

She simply said, “yes, we know they’re doing it because they have to and we’re not holding that against them” and the “ok” was to let people know that she’s aware of it and we are all aware of it and we’re following along to see where it goes.
I don’t count that as a fairweather supporter, I count that as someone giving them the chance to do what has to be done even though we don’t like it much. We know they have to do it, it doesn’t mean we don’t support them, we just aren’t going to join them because we really don’t think they want us to join them anyway. obi doesn’t belong in the WhiteHouse but the Clinton’s are obliged to campaign for him.

I am so ashamed of my party. I am a dem against abortion unless it is for extenuating circumstances. Why wouldn’t Bristol marry her high school sweeheart. It was likely no matter if there is a baby in question or not. This is what lots of people do. Not everyone uses abortion for birth control. It vile. Besides, it’s personal family business that has nothing to do with governing.
I am ashamed of Hillary and Bill for backing a thug who stole the election. Now they have swallowed the kool-aide and are lieing that Obama will win. Fat chance. YOU are definitely correct Zeke. The Clintons do need to find a way to not HAVE to campaign for this fool. They’ll find a way, they won’t allow this little prick to destroy their lives, they’re too smart for that. They’ve been holding their nose, campaigning mostly for the party, not neccesairly for him and they haven’t attacked Palin (I think this is important because if Hillary attacks the woman vp candidate, it would take away from her own appeal). I don’t want Hillary to have to compromise her own morals and ethics for the little prick and I don’t think she will, regardless of what the party may ask her to do. She has the standing and the ability to say no in a way that makes them think it was their idea to begin with. She (and Bill) is 100 times more intelligent than obi, dean, brazillenut, pelosi and the others put together. She’ll be ok and she’ll take care of it. I trust Hillary to do what’s right and not let them force her past the line she has drawn for herself as to how much help he gets.

  • Tyrione

Bill is great at keeping his image respected in the Democratic Party. He says but knows differently.

At any rate, this Pro-Life/Pro-Death argument is a farse/red herring.

There is only one possible, logical, reasoned position:

    PRO-CHOICE.

From this Base Point/Top Root point of view you have two branches, for every private decision that concerns pregnancy.

A: I carry the child to term.
B: I abort the child at the earliest possible term while still being within the law.

From here we have the following:

A: State of Birth now branches two possible choices.
    A1: I raise the child.
    A2: I adopt the child.

B: No more decisions on the child-to-be are reasoned.

Now what they both entail are the decisions and responsibilities upon the Woman who determines which path they rightly own to make.

The results are the effects of the actions she takes and must accept, in her own mind, for the rest of her life.

Pro-Life attempts to make it a divide between External Moralists vs. An Immoral Woman.

    This is cocka.

I expect every Pro-Life person who proclaims to determine the rights of the unborn above the rights of the Living to adopt every child currently waiting in orphanges for a home.

To proclaim to be a Christian one adheres to the philosophical/moral doctrines of this Mythical Man/god. To leverage these doctrines for their Words/Logos/Laws and then to have your actions contradict these Words/Logos/Laws leaves a reasoned mind to conclude you to be of the Highest Immoral Character known to Humanity.

    HYPOCRISY.

I don’t believe that 80% of the site is republican. I believe just the opposite and 80% of the site consists of Clinton Democrats who want to get rid of obi.
People have even tried to accuse ME of being a republican if I made a comment they didn’t like and you can’t get further from the truth than that.
I’ve been a Democrat my entire life, even before I was old enough to vote, but some of the “party over country” bunch are going too far. My Country will come first, especially after the DNC screwed us over and stuck us with this unqualified, unvetted, unintelligent, sexist, racist asshole as a candidate. I’ve been a Democrat my entire life, but I am willing to leave the DNC behind if they are going to change to marxism for the good of dean and obi. I am 100% non-negotiable Clinton Democrat and will support Hillary for the office of POTUS as long as she is willing to pursue it, but I don’t want to see her compromise her own ethics and morals and dirty her hands with this sexist, racist pig that’s running on the ticket. It would hurt my opinion of her. I would end up forgiving her, but it would bother me a LOT.
Those who shout “Republican” at anyone who they think disagrees with them in any way are the ones causing issues. It’s as bad as the obi camp shouting “racist” left and right when they are the only racists in the mix. Most of the time they shout at someone, the person had said the same thing they were saying but in a different way and they didn’t bother to read it clearly. If somebody says they are a Democrat on this site, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt until they blatantly give themselves away.
All of us should read twice before we decide to attack someone and call them a republican or a troll or we’re going to splinter the party even more than it already is. I am a Democrat but I don’t agree with what the DNC is doing right now and I will never vote for obi no matter what.

Sorry double post in response to above comment from Daily Kos Hate Site!

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

Diana, you make a very astute observation.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

THIS is an example of someone who is most likely a nobama person as opposed to a Democrat.

That’s fine, if you help us do away with barky, then great, but we won’t turn on either Clinton because they ARE the Democratic party.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

obi is not CAPABLE of manipulating Hillary. She is 100 times his superior in every way, shape and form. Without the election fraud and illegal activities at the caucus level, he would never be where he is. The DNC (dean, pelosi, brazille, obi etc) manipulated the election but they WILL NOT and CAN NOT manipulate Hillary.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

    exactly

  • Maverick

Excuse me bert-Hillary is selling us out. Our votes do not count. I need someone to stick up for me and not go against me like Hilla and Billa are doing now. Gag me. Let them stump for the terrorist idiot who stole the election all they want. I’m never voting for any of them ever again.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

fictional memoirs at that. most of what he wrote was pure lies and what wasn’t was changed so much from the truth that it wouldn’t be recognizable.
He almost gave himself away several times though and he WILL make the ultimate slip eventually, he’s getting closer and closer every day.

  • Maverick

Someone remove this vileness from daily crap that’s posted here twice. I love Plain and will vote for her. I’m on my way to get my dem registration changed to Repun right now. I’ve seen enough and don’t want to see anymore Dem corruption or be associated with it.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

the only way I’d want to see Hillary as vp to the sexist, racist asshole is if we knew obi was going to be removed due to his lies. I won’t say that some right wing whacko should do something horrible because that would make him a martyr. We don’t want him dead, just GONE.
Shamed would be even better, especially if it was something that caused the black community to throw HIM under the bus.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

    LMAO
527′s don’t usually hit until mid October. It’s early yet. Obi is going to be one sad, whining, hatefilled SOB. His sexism and racism and elitism are going to bite him in the ass and it won’t be pretty.

Ahhhhh, I can’t wait to watch him go down in flames so Hillary can rise from the ashes as the TRUE leader of the Democratic Party, just as she has been and should be. The CHANGE I want to see is the name on the top of the ticket.

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

it was “misunderestimated” I think…the double negative thing that made him look really stupid

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

oops, sorry, you fixed it already

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

It’s my understanding that her debt has been paid

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

obama does NOT have a high IQ. He may want you to think he does, but he certainly doesn’t.
Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and DOES have a high IQ as does Hillary. Just because obi is an elitist, racist, sexist pig does not mean he has a high IQ.

  • Alice Paul

Please read post again. I am replying to their accusations with facts about Obama. Not attacking Governor Palin!

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

    I found the numbers.
John McCain’s IQ is 133 according to his military records.
Barack Obama’s is 128 according to the few Harvard records he allows in the public eye.
Bill Clinton’s is 137 according to his college records.
Hillary Clinton’s is 140 according to her college records.
    Sarah Palin’s is 128.
Michelle Obama’s is 107. She failed the bar exam the first time she took it.
The national average is 100. Below 70 is considered mentally handicapped.
For comparison, Einstein’s is 160, Steven Hawking is 160, Marilyn Vos Savant is 186 (world’s most intelligent woman), Madona, of all people is 140, Bush is 125, and my own is 148 (and is documented in my own college records).
It looks like McCain has 3 points on obi and Hillary has 3 points on Bill. obi only has 5 points on dumbya.
We all know that IQ doesn’t neccesarily indicate success, but it’s interesting to see the comparisons.
Obama is not a genius, he is a product of affirmative action.

Parents are responsible for all other aspects of a 17-year-old-dependent’s medical care, and I know I’d have strong feelings about it I had a teenager who was pregnant . . . but I think the courts definitely should be available for kids who have less-than-understanding parents . . . and at times even that may not be enough (I know what it’s like to grow up in a _very_ small and conservative town) . . .

Do you realize that not all teenage pregnancies are unplanned (some kids really want a baby to love) and that not all unplanned pregnancies are the result of irresponsibility? I mean, if a teenage me had been a rape or date rape or incest survivor, or even just a smidgeon less cautious than abstinent ol’ I was, I sure as heck would have wanted to end a pregnancy . . . no matter what . . . and on the other hand, I have as an adult had an unplanned pregnancy that really opened my heart (I understand if some think I’m crazy, since it boggled my mind, but as early as three weeks I could feel a soul with me) . . . so I could never tell even a teenager that they _should_ end a pregnancy they wanted . . . because pregnancy can be _much_ more than a medical condition. And it’s precisely because I do believe that it can be much, much more than a medical condition that I always end up thinking pregnant teenagers should _not_ need their parents’ permission to abort or keep a pregnancy. The pregnant humans should have the power of choice, in my mind, precisely because it is primarily _their_ spiritual (and physical, emotional, etc.) issue, not their family’s or boyfriend’s.

It’s ideal that teenagers could talk to their families for guidance anytime they’re in a tough situation . . . but so few families are that ideal. The parents’ main influence has to come in raising and educating their kids _before_ they get pregnant, helping them be psychologically healthy and not be so starved for love and acceptance that they want to jump into more intimate relationships than they’re ready for.

Thanks for clarifying . . . like Maverick (I guess) I was just skimming down thinkin’ it was trollin’ . . .
    Nice.

Anyone who has watched and listened to Bill Clinton through the years knows that when he dispenses a quick easy answer like, “Obama will win handily”, the irony meter is off-the charts. When Bill Clinton REALLY supports you he makes one of those famous Bill Clinton-type statements that make it seem like the language was invented for the sole purpose of Clinton making his point. When he throws out a tired, glib cliche, you know he ain’t really interested. Bill Clinton basically said, “Whatever, who cares?”

  • Kal

    Great post, shtuey!!

  • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

I’m sure he’s a tiny example since he’s an inadequate example of everything else resembling manhood.

I have been reading these posts for over an hour now and my head is spinning and my eyes are burning, but before I sign off I want to comment on the Post by “Jack the Ripper”. I loved it. Rip “Freedom Fighter” another one. He needs help – I think he’s constipated.

As for all of you who defended Governor Palin and the decisions made by her and her daughter, I commend you. You have all stated my feelings much better than I could ever have. Thenk God there are people like you left in this country.

After much soul searching, I left the Democratic Party to which I had belonged for over 30 years because – to steal a phrase from Obama – It was no longer the Democratic Party that I knew.

I still have a great deal of admiration for Senator and President Clinton but I also feel like several others that what they do from here on in will determine whether I will ever support either of them again. They have done enough. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

The poor excuse that is left of the Democratic Party has humiliated both of them and any further association with that bunch can only tarnish them. Please, Bill and Hillary, think of your legacy.

Colleagues of mine are sending me frantic e-mails bashing McCain/Palin. These Obama supporters bashed the Clintons, Hillary in particular. Sarah Palin has come onto the scene and now they are scared. Boo Hoo! They were warned that the Republicans would go after Obama for his lack of a track record and his racist comments against “bitter small town” people, along with a host of other flaws. Not only that the Dems have bashed their base working class voters. This at a time when the middle class is desparately trying to survive. Now the Dems have decided they need working class voters. They came to this realization only after Palin received the nomination. Pathetic!! The Clintons should just be graceful and decline any offers to help the dying party.

Here’s my 2 cents on this. I am really finding it hard to listen to other females who worked so hard to bring women to a point that we can be our own individuals and yet, they are now applying the ugly double standard to women that they don’t share the same beliefs with. The purpose of attaining our own voice was to do just that — speak our own voice whatever it may be and have the opportunity that men have. To tell other women now that it is unacceptable to be who they want to be is just wrong. I salute those women who actually understand what the cause was about.

Yes, I’m completely aware that some teenage girls want to have babies and do their best to get pregnant.

I don’t think anyone under the age of 18 should be having sex. If you pressed me further, I’d say 21. However, what I think and 16 year olds think, are two different things. Nothing I say or do will keep a 16 year old from having sex who is determined to have sex.

Parents who do everything right end up with pregnant teens. Parents who screw up end up with pregnant teens.

I have friends who put their daughters on birth control when they have their first boyfriend. Others who stock the bathroom with condoms. I disagree with that. It wouldn’t be my method of dealing with teenage sex and I’m sure many people would say my head is in the sand, teaching abstinence goes only so far.

Kids are having sex, regardless of what we do. When a teenage girl discovers she’s pregnant, in my opinion, it’s her body, her baby. Her decision. Period. Whether or not she chooses to have the baby, it’s a decision that will impact the rest of her life and should be hers by law. If we give pregnant women over the age of 18 that privilege of choice, it should be extended to pregnant teenage girls under the age of 18. However, for a girl under 14 or 15, I do think her parents should have input.

“I don’t believe that 80% of the site is republican. I believe just the opposite and 80% of the site consists of Clinton Democrats who want to get rid of obi.”

I don’t know if I’d go as high as 80% Republican, but lately I’ve thought it’s over 50%. There’s no talk about how Governor Palin’s conservative views will impact the administration. Whether we are willing to risk voting for McCain/Palin if we knew Governor Palin would end up as president before 2012. Knowing her conservative views are much more right wing than Senator McCain’s, are we willing to risk putting her in a good position to win the presidency in 2012 or 2016?

I’m not on the Governor Palin bandwagon. I don’t know enough about her and want to hear more from her on her conservative religious views. Does she subscribe to Reaganomics? Is her answer to everything drill, drill, drill and sic it to the oil companies? Her record as governor doesn’t show much else. Although to be fair to her, she hasn’t even been in office two years.

Right now, I’m voting for Senator McCain and wishing that didn’t mean I’m also voting for Governor Palin. If I learn more about Governor Palin and feel I can risk a Palin presidency, I’ll vote McCain. If I don’t, I’m going to have to consider another alternative.

This past week, reading here I feel like it’s the Official Governor Palin fan club. I’m also wondering what has happened to all of Senator Clinton’s supporters and why they aren’t concerned about Governor Palin and want to learn more about her. Instead I see people who are opposed to vetting her. Anyone who wants to or is concerned about her policies is attacking Governor Palin and is sexist.

Author: “I suppose the next step would be to rescue Bristol from the Palin family, deprogram her, and force her to have a late term abortion. That’ll show those right wing fascists.

This has become a witch hunt pure and simple.”

Shtuey doesn’t have the faintest idea what pro-choice and reproductive rights are about. He’s clueless.

Cybill Shepherd doesn’t want Ms. Palin to have an abortion, what she wants is for Ms. Palin to have access to birth control and if she does become pregnant, to make her own choice about the pregnancy – whether that is to carry the child to term, raise the child or give the child for adoption or terminate the pregnancy.

Ms. Shepherd has been an advocate of women’s reproductive rights for decades. She isn’t out to hunt right wing conservatives. What she wants to ensure is that they don’t take away choice from any woman, regardless of her age and youth.

From a Larry King, April, 2000 interview with Ms. Shepherd:

    ” KING: You’ve always been pro-choice, right?

    SHEPHERD: Always been pro-choice.

KING: Even growing up in an area where pro-life would have been sacrosanct?

SHEPHERD: I was very lucky. Very close family friend in 1966, a doctor, prescribed me birth control pills without telling my mother and without telling me. Just went for my first gynecological appointment, and he said, “Do you have a boyfriend?” I said yes. He said, “Do you love him?” I said, “Yes, we’re going to get married?”

He said: “Well, you know, your periods have been a little irregular here. I’m going to give you a prescription of something that’s going to make your periods real regular.”

I was very fortunate, and that is why I feel compelled to stand up for the young women in this country now who are not allowed to control their own fertility, their bodily fertility. People keep wanting to take away from women our right to control our pleasure and our bodies and our reproductive health. And for this, I will always continue to fight wherever it is. “
