$630,000 In Nigerian Stock Exchange Money Earmarked To Influence USA Election–Seized

This from BBC News, of course.

I recall The Real Barack Obama sending me a mybarackobama link to a “Nigerians For Obama” group. We were wondering what was up with that. Well, now we know.

Let’s start a daily count of how long it takes for the USA Main Stream NoMedia to pick up on this obvious effort on the part of the Nigerian Stock Exchange to illegally influence an American Presidential election.

Nigerian anti-graft investigators have seized money raised by the head of the Nigerian Stock Exchange to support US presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it would give the money back to those who attended a gala dinner in Lagos last month.

The EFCC said it had seized 74m naira ($630,000, £314,000), but said no Nigerian laws had been broken.

US political parties are not allowed to receive contributions from abroad.

Stock exchange chairwoman Ndi Okereke-Onyuike is also the head of Africans for Obama, a Nigeria-based support group.

She was interviewed by the EFCC after media reports that the Obama campaign had disassociated itself from the group.

There is not one Nigerian who doesn’t have a relative or friend in America

Ndi Okereke-Onyuike
Africans for Obama

Mrs Okereke-Onyiuke said in August there had been a misunderstanding in the press regarding the event.

The money was going to be spent on adverts encouraging Nigerians in the US to vote for Mr Obama, she said.

Tickets to the lavish event in Lagos on 11 August cost more than $21,000 (£11,000) for an eight-person table.

“We never said we were going to donate money for the campaign,” she said.

“We paid for the hall and the entertainers and the surplus, we said would be spent on advertisements aimed at persuading Nigerians to tell their relatives in America to register to vote.

“There is not one Nigerian who doesn’t have a relative or friend in America. Our aim was to encourage those people to tell their family who have the right to vote in America to vote for Obama.”

Jealous

Full-page adverts in major newspapers publicising the event did not mention what the organisers were planning to do with the money.

Tickets to the gala dinner at the Muson Centre, usually used for conferences and trade shows, were split into two price ranges: “gold” and “platinum”.

Individual tickets for the more expensive platinum range cost $2,754 (£1,300) with an option to buy a “corporate” table sitting eight for more than $21,000.

She said the press was trying to attack her because they were jealous of her success.

“I am a woman of the highest integrity,” she told the BBC News website.

A statement form the EFCC said they had ordered Mrs Okereke-Onyuike to “steer clear of such activities in future”.

Ma’am, people of the Highest Integrity from other countries don’t attempt to intercede in American Elections. And it has everything to do with ethics and law, and nothing to do with jealousy. Honest.

Oh and about the Obama campaign “disassociating” itself from the group: Countdown to page Scrub: http://pa.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/4gbpm

OK folks, with the MSM cover any of this? Should we hold our breath waiting to see if they do their jobs?

    :(

  • VMorris

Naw. They are off somewhere busy trying to see if they can confirm rumors of a torrid love affair between a pygmie goat and Sarah Palin’s Uncle’s-Cousin’s-Sister’s-Nephew’s-Brother’s-Step Aunt’s-Grandfather.

  • bayareavoter

how many stories and editorials have come from the UK? I know they like tabloid journalism, too, but they seem to still be able to do their job.

Will anyone pick this story up? i won’t hold my breath.

I just wrote Anderson Cooper who played that clip of Barry mocking Palin about being for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.

Don’t you think Cooper should go on to say that Barky voted FOR the money for the bridge to nowhere and it’s my belief he joined 80 other senators in defeating an amendment that would have killed the bridge and sent the money to New Orleans.

  • BJ

    LMAO :)

  • Hope Floats

How much of that money was scammed from people who thought they were buying plane tickets for some “hot girl” they met online or cashing some poor humanitarian’s pay check or giving their bank account # to someone so they could have their inheritance wired to them? Nigerians, please!

  • notodisenfranchisement

yeah, I know, the Absymal In-the-Tank Media for Barack Obama is even more blatant than it used to be during the Primaries.

We thought we were delusional at first, but at least Hillary’s efforts tipped everyone off to the bias, and now it’s just common knowledge that the press is for BO.

To quote Giuliani, and I paraphrase: “The media won’t vet Obama because they want him to win.”

    How true and sad.

You folks ask when the Press will report on this?… NEVER:

Mainstream Media Diverting Terrorism Reporters Into Political Investigations By Andrew Cochran hat tip Rut

I see one after another of the mainstream media outlets which have made important contributions to the factual underpinnings of the counter-terrorism effort dropping off that beat. Editors in the print media are shifting terrorism experts on their staffs towards investigations of political candidates. At least three such reporters at three major papers are now chasing Sarah Palin stories (I haven’t had time to chase down everybody in “the business”). The move away from terrorism investigations started over a year ago as the print media entered into a long-term decline in ad revenues, but the trend has been accelerated in this election year. It is an unfortunate coincidence that true experts, with some of the best contacts and intel in the private CT community, are being moved out of their chosen fields just as we approach the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. It’s especially disconcerting to see this trend at the very moment when President Bush is committing more counterinsurgency resources to capturing or killing Osama bin Laden and/or Ayman al-Zawahiri before he leaves office, a strategic decision with serious ramifications for relations between the U.S. and Pakistan and other nations in South Asia.

The Media Plan to Destroy Palin
    By Cliff Kincaid

A number of veteran reporters in the mainstream media have broken important stories using sources and methods that the intelligence community could not or chose not to exploit. The broad CT community would suffer a serious loss if these bona fide experts leave the field for any length of time. In the meantime, nonprofit organizations and dedicated blogs have the opportunity and capability to inform the public.

EDITOR DEFENDS USE OF CODEPINK MEMBERS IN ‘INDEPENDENT’ FOCUS GROUP

A Detroit Free Press editor expressed regret Monday that left-wing and anti-war activists were included in a focus group of so-called independent voters the newspaper interviewed during the political conventions, but said he didn’t see the harm in having a “radical leftist or two” in the group.

In response to questions posed to the would-be independent panel, two members of the anti-war group CodePink — as well as two other liberal activists — offered praise of Barack Obama after his Democratic presidential nomination acceptance speech. A week later they turned the tables and ripped into Republican Sarah Palin’s vice presidential nomination acceptance speech. Their comments appeared online and were excerpted in the Free Press’ print edition.

“I wish that it weren’t the case that there were two people from an activist group and we didn’t know about it,” assistant managing editor Randy Essex said of the CodePink members.

Nonetheless, Essex defended the panel’s results.

Cooper, like the rest of them, has shown he has no integrity left.

I know this sounds horribly naive, but I am truly heartbroken at this media blackout — I can’t believe there are so few left with any decency.

We are gathering up to 4,000 people together for a fund raising to support OBAMA 08. The funds raised will be sent to the OBAMA campaign office as our own way of showing support for OBAMA since we are not eligible to vote as we are Nigerians based in Nigeria and not in America.

After watching some of the interviews of Obama on Fox, I think that the GOP should go ahead and start releasing the dirt they uncovered on Obama weekly to give him something to worry about continuously till November. Thanks for this story. I recall seeing several comments below the Freep articles busting those known for their radical opinions. I’m actually surprised it was ever picked up elsewhere.

In defense of the Free Press, they have done a great job investigating the corruption in Detroit which led to the indictments and ultimate removal of the mayor from office. (Their reporters do great work.)

On the other hand, there is no mistaking the fact that they have been in the tank for Obama for a long time. The polls are tight here so I won’t be surprised if it gets worse. The Freep is based in the heart of Detroit which is decisively pro-Obama and may have enough voters within its readership to swing the entire state for him.

The mainstream media has been less than useless ever since they started repeating right-wing smears against the Clintons in the 90′s. :(

Those were the days when you could make up a stupid accusation against the Clintons on Sunday…and read it as headline news the next day.

This is the crap the Obamotas and “progressive” blogs were repeating during the primary, by the way.

Studies show that people who get their news from the mainstream media are pig ignorant. It is best regarded as enemy propaganda and should be avoided at all times.

  • Diana

Thank you for the link, the have some great articles over there. But, they seem to hate anything that has to do with Democrats including moderate Democrats. That’s one of our problems, not from that site. That site is a symptom of the bigger problem. We’ve allowed radicals to drive a wedge in the American people. Not every Republican is the enemy, just as not every Democrat is the enemy.

We’re all in this boat together. Both sides have good and bad. We need to look more at the person, their character, their records than we do as to whether or not they have a D or an R behind their name. That’s a big/big part of the problems we now have in both parties. We’ve approved of these people just because they have a R or D behind their name, and look at the messes we’ve ended up in because of it. If our political parties want to fight amongst themselves to see who can be the biggest bully, WE the American people need to pull together and tell them, “Go on with your bad self, and Bye-Bye, don’t let the door hit you on your way out. You obviously were not up there to work for me or any other American.”

Plus these people with the R or D behind their name need to remember when they’re elected they’re not only there to respresent their constituents with an R or D. They’re there to represent/work for “ALL” their constituents.

She told him she’d be on a certain flight then she didn’t show up. He kept telling me this story, asking if I thought it was a scam, and I was like, YA THINK?!!

  • Above My Pay Grade

Well, Barack Obama does claim to be a “citizen of the world”, so I guess it only makes sense that he would receive illegal campaign funds from Nigeria and Gaza.

I find it interesting that the Nigerian bundler said the money would be used to encourage Nigerians in America to vote for Obama as opposed to Nigerian-Americans.

I am sure if he is elected Nigerians and Hammas members WILL be allowed to vote in the USA. Barry probably already has a deal with ACORN to go over there and register them.

  • Monet

Judah Benjamin has managed to link Khalid al-Mansour to Dr. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke. Another researcher has linked al-Mansour to William Ayers. Benjamin’s theory is that Sutton wasn’t writing a letter of recommendation for Senator Obama\

to Harvard Law, but to someone else to help with Senator Obama’s run for the Illinois state senate. That would explain why Sutton mentioned that Senator Obama had met the requirements for Harvard Law and been president of the Law Review when he wrote his letter of recommendation. It would also explain why al-Mansour was busy raising money for Senator Obama, not for his tuition but his campaign.

Al-Mansour’s ties to the banking industry is in Nigeria and West Africa, not the U.S. He would have been raising money the money in Africa. He was a director of the United Bank of Africa (UBA). Dr. Okereke-Onyiuke during the time he was a director obtained millions from the bank for business deals. There was a bank reformation and merge with two other banks, Al-Mansour was removed as a director and a dispute developed between Okereke-Onyiuke and the UBA as to where all the millions had gone. Dr. Okereke-Onyiuke has also had problems with raising money for campaigns in Nigeria, she likes the shady side of politics.

I usually disregard conspiracy theories. They’re fun, but often low on substance. But in this instance, enough puzzle pieces fit to take notice – just like with the birth certificate. You can read Judah Benjamin’s theory at Texas Darlin’s blog and the theory linking Ayers with al-Mansour here:
